Shielding of the elderly has been ruled-out because it isn’t practicable and it is impossible to totally separate older people from younger ones and, of course, BOTH young and old can catch the virus even whilst displaying NO visible symptoms and still pass it onto others.

Only rarely do they select them for marginal and therefore easily lost seats like Thurrock in Essex (though as of the 2019 result it is no longer marginal) or heavily ethnic and ultra safe safe Labour-held constituencies like Tottenham.
Very British and immensely safe Tory constituencies eg Richmond, North Yorkshire, Stratford Upon Avon,Windsor, Berkshire get the ethnic candidates dumped upon them though!

The government MUST make sure the lockdown/new restrictions are faithfully ABIDED by by far more people or it will be just another waste of time and we will be here for ever.

A lot of people have followed the restrictions so far but a troublesome minority clearly have not done so and the problem is this virus is so easily spread and it only takes a few selfish idiots to not abide by the law/restrictions and you then get new chains of infections being set off.😡🤬

No, that is incorrect. These selfish arseholes ARE setting off new chains of infection which can and often are constantly replicating. As an example of how easily the virus spreads several people have become ‘super spreaders’ by being the kind of morons who refuse to wear masks at Republican Party/President Trump rallies in the USA. It has actually been documented and proven that people who have done that have spread the virus in their communities once they have arrived home from his rallies.
The ever efficient Chinese have instituted the death penalty in some cases for people deliberating hiding their virus symptoms. China dealt with the virus rapidly and decisively and is now over it so they can resume their massive economic growth.
China can be criticised in many ways but at the same time one can have a certain admiration for their efficiency. It should come as no surprise that they already have the world’s second largest economy and perhaps not too far into the future may surpass America in this respect.

Don’t call these people ‘dissidents’ as that makes them sound like the kind of honourable and mostly decent people that helped to being down Communism in Eastern Europe. A second lockdown shouldn’t be necessary and wouldn’t have been if the first one was tougher and had been properly enforced WITH ultra-tough travel restrictions IN MARCH added on top and if people had ‘remained alert’ as the government instructed people to do when they eased the lockdown though they should have eased it more slowly.

They might well be asleep because most people would recognise that notion as being nonsensical especially with regard to this country since we have a ‘government’ that was and still is reluctant to impose restrictions on people’s liberty as is evidenced by the lack of enforcement action compared to the likes of well-run, clean and low crime rate Singapore.
Clearly, this government is rather half-hearted about the restrictions and is thus encouraging people to break them. It is high time they got REALLY TOUGH as the administration in Singapore and to only a slightly lesser extent that of South Korea has done.

I would’t insult the people of South Korea in that way. They, like the Japanese, are quite different to the Chinese who comprise the majority of Singapore’s population and obviously do with regard to China.
The Koreans and Japs are more akin to Westerners and they both do have regard for REAL civil liberties rather than using them as the licence for being a selfish, murderering arsehole in the midst of a worldwide viral pandemic that libertarians like Peter Hitchens gives pseudo intellectual gloss to.
Apart from some strange eating habits, I find that Koreans and especially Japs have many admirable qualities which we in Britain should aspire to copy.
