  1. I read an article about J.D.Vance´s supposedly “insulting remarks” about the British or French military and the over reaction of the British politicians and ex-servicemen is frankly ridiculous. It is quite clear that Vance referred to Germany, the Netherlands and other idiotic do-gooders who now want be part of the peace-keeping force.

On the other hand, if I was a British ex-serviceman I would keep quiet about my involvment in the so-called “Iraq War”, to call that a war is ridiculous; it should be called “The Iraqi Pigeon-Shooting”.

US troops involved: 326.000 Dead: 4.826

British troops involved: 41.000 Dead: 179

Iraqi troops involved: 375.000 Dead: 26.500/45.000

The Iraqis did not stand a chance as they were mostly massacred by the US Air Force. The pathetic number of British losses makes the British claims of “distinguished service” even more shameful. The Americans did the fighting while the British looked on.

    1. Claudius:
Do you refer to the first Iraq war (early 1990s) or to the second, a decade later?

As far as the first is concerned, I believe that the French Foreign Legion did much of the hard(er) fighting.

    2. Why would British soldiers keep quiet about their service in Iraq? They did what they were instructed to do.

I have long read your slightly hysterical and very rude remarks about British people, British politicians and now British soldiers and have tried to excuse it due to the language difference and a different culture.

Germany has to abide by these rules since WWII

The Treaty on the Final Settlement with Respect to Germany sets the following limitations:

German forces can only be committed in accordance with the UN Charter.

Armed Forces may not exceed 370,000.

Not manufacturing nuclear, chemical, or biological weapons.

Not possessing nuclear, chemical, or biological weapons.

Definitive Borders. Germany can no longer claim other territories.

European countries generally don’t want to be involved in wars, it is the Military Industrial Complex who benefit, no one else.

      1. I was amazed, almost shocked, by your accusations, of which, of course, you cannot provide any examples because they do not exist. Had I ever posted “very rude remarks”, I am sure Ian, who is a perfect gentleman, would have: 1) Warned me about them and 2) Banned me (and quite rightly so) should I persisted in my bad ways.

Ian knows I am a hothead, and I accept that; therefore, it is not unusual for me to use strong language, which has been edited by Ian. However, I shall NEVER apologise for insulting despicable, treacherous politicians, regardless of their nationality. You seem to be one of those persons who cannot tolerate the slightest criticism of their country or their countrymen. Do I need to remind you that even within our own families, we all find some really nasty characters? Are you going to tell me that the politicians who have ruined and sold your country are noble human beings? I thought we were on the same side, but it seems I was wrong…

Last but not least, my criticism (NOT “very rude remarks”) of the British involvement in the invasion of Iraq in 2003 was directed at the silly claims made by some veterans that would make you believe their share in fighting was the same as the Americans´. The figures I quoted are official, I did NOT make them up. US Army = 4.826 dead / British Army = 179 dead

BTW, I have a great respect for Tommy Atkins, of whose accomplishments I am far more knowledgeable than most of your countrymen. I have read lots of books about the British Army, and I am a member of two excellent YT channels: THE HISTORY CHAP and REDCOAT HISTORY, but, of course, you did not know this. In fact, you know FA about me, and yet, you have the cheek to accuse me of “hysterical and very rude remarks,” which you very kindly “tried to excuse” due to “the language difference”. Assuming my English is as mediocre as you suggest, I would like to see you expressing yourself as eloquently as I do in Spanish, French or Italian.

PS: I am very sorry about this, but it was NOT my fault. I always appreciated and liked your comments, but out of the blue, you fell over me like a ton of bricks. If you ever disliked something I said/wrote, you should have written to me immediately and had I been wrong, I would have acknowledged it and apologised.
