I have seen a few other vlog posts by that couple. Russia. China. Eritrea. North Korea. I believe that they are making quite a good income from this, maybe as much as £100,000 a year.
Interesting views, and not entirely wrong, but (as seen in their other vlog posts) rather naive in some respects. For example, the man there (Matt) has little time for the idea that immigrants in the UK have led to a housing shortage, yet the facts speak for themselves. Literally millions of immigrants have arrived even in the past decade, let alone the past 40 years. That may not be the only cause of the UK housing crisis, but it is a major one, and I would argue the major one.

They try to avoid direct political stances; in this case, the man originated in the UK and so may be more “triggered”, as people now say. I note that his wife/girlfriend (Julia) refers to Spain in the 1960s/1970s as “Fascist Spain”, which is not (entirely) correct. I might add that, in other videos seen, I did not notice the woman make reference to the more negative aspects of Sovietism.
I got the opinion in one or two of their other videos that they are in danger of falling into the trap of some tourists or visitors who go to many many countries for a short while, but perhaps fail to understand much about them. There is a superficiality.
Once, in 1998, when I was in Egypt for three months, I met, at the oasis of Siwa, an American woman, a New Yorker, who was travelling around the world to gather material, mainly photos, for a book. She had been to pretty much every country in Asia, for example, including Burma (Myanmar, if you like), but she had been to each country for only a day or two.
Certainly one can get an impression of a place in a day or two, but superficiality is inevitable unless one at least has the background knowledge to make some sense of the impression. That American woman did not have the background. Her impressions were of the “is this Tuesday? I must be in Egypt” variety.
Incidentally, that American woman stayed at the oasis for about 20 hours; arrived on the once-a-day bus one afternoon, and departed the next day, presumably having taken a few photos to illustrate her book about her world travels.
In a way, I like the attitude of those two vloggers, who try to see the best in people etc, but that can lead to a kind of “touristic” naivety.

I have just been convicted a second time for ‘hate speech’ and it is only due to a technicality that I could not immediately be sent to jail —to the judge’s frustration.
In an ironic turn of events it’s actually thanks to my previous prison sentence (for memes in a private group chat) that I am now still free —in a physical sense, at least.
Call me naive but I didn’t think they would take it this far, given that this precedent criminalises many of the arguments used by even the most moderate politicians critical of mass migration.
In February 2024 I gave a lecture at Catholic University Leuven wherein I linked mass migration to crime and a deterioration of our quality of life. Every single point I made was 100% the truth and based on scientific evidence.
Cynically, even the judge that convicted me admits as much by writing in his verdict: “Even if all of the statements made by Van Langenhove are based on scientific evidence and statistics, it makes no difference to the criminal intent. Van Langenhove is not charged with spreading false information. He is charged with presenting facts in a way that incites hatred against persons on the grounds of one or more of the protected criteria in the Anti-Racism Law.”
That’s a lot of words just to say he wants to send me to prison for speaking the truth.

Sadly, in Belgium, evidence is not needed and ‘vibes’ are enough to put someone in jail.

The man is digging the bed because Beatrice has, by long observation, taught him that digging the bed at 6.15am produces worms, which produces hens nearby, which produces a small social arrangement that the man has come to look forward to.
7.04am. Beatrice eats a beetle. She eats it with the considered focus of a hen who knows that beetle protein is, by every measure, the highest-quality protein available to her, and that the beetles do not, on the whole, last long once identified.
8.30am. Beatrice lays an egg. The egg weighs 64 grams. It contains, by every available analysis: a complete amino acid profile, choline, lutein, zeaxanthin, B12, vitamin D, vitamin A, selenium, iodine, and cholesterol of the kind that the human body, contrary to forty years of dietary advice, regulates by itself. 1.15pm. Beatrice naps in a dust bath of her own construction. The dust bath has been positioned, by Beatrice, in the precise spot in the garden that gets afternoon sun for the longest. She did not ask the man’s permission. She did not need to.

That chicken farming is, by definition, cruel. Industrial poultry, in many cases, is. Beatrice’s life is not. The honest argument targets the system, not the species.
That backyard hens spread disease. The disease vector data points overwhelmingly at intensive operations. Beatrice’s three companions and the half a million UK households who keep small flocks are not the problem.
That eggs are a luxury. The man pays approximately £15 a year per hen in feed. He gets, in return, around 280 eggs, two dead rats, a worked vegetable bed, a dust bath in the right spot, and a small quiet relationship with a creature who comes when he calls.

The alleged contempt concerns a closing speech that Rajiv delivered to a jury at the Woolwich Crown Court in January 2026. The trial involved pro-Palestine activists causing criminal damage to weapons and other property at a factory in Filton, Bristol belonging to Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest arms manufacturer. I was not yet born in 1951, but I was 4-5 years old in 1961, and in the south of England, at least, effectively all the people in the Home Counties and beyond, say 99.5%, at least, were white English/British. I happened to see some material about a German officer (German-Swiss by official nationality), Hugo von Senger (1920-2010). I never met him, but a German lady, an old friend of mine, now deceased, was very friendly with him and his family.
I was introduced briefly, in London, and in the late 1980s, to one of von Senger’s daughters (at the time, an attractive, polite, and pleasant girl of about 17-18) and, a few years before, one of his sons, a boy of about 16 or 17. Both their Christian names escape me at the moment. I know that the boy, several years later, married a daughter of one of the directors of the Siemens electronic company and that they relocated to southern Chile, where they bought a large property and bred horses.
That German-Swiss family originally had a kind of castle in the Germanophone part of Switzerland, which however is now a kind of Swiss equivalent of a “stately home” run by either the Swiss state, the canton (regional government) or some equivalent of the (UK) National Trust. I saw a souvenir tea-towel from its on-site shop. The family themselves lived in another castle. They owned a business fitting interior walls with (if I remember correctly) embossed leather. Sounds odd, maybe, but I think that is what they did. I saw some glossy publicity material at the time.
I recall my London friend flew with Tolstoy to Zurich for the meeting. Von Senger had been a cavalry officer and, during WW2, was based in the Ukraine, I think at or near Kiev, commanding Cossacks fighting on the German side and against Soviet forces. The Cossacks are or were taught to ride from early childhood, and would not respect officers unable to ride at least as well as them, thus their German officers had to be cavalrymen with a high level of horsemanship.
In 1945, von Senger and his Cossacks were in Austria. After the German surrender, the British sent the Cossacks down a railway line to where Soviet NKVD forces awaited. The Cossacks were then shot. Von Senger and his fellow-German officers wanted to go with them, but the British refused, citing the Geneva Convention (Germany and Britain were both signatories, but the Soviet Union was not) and the Yalta agreement between Churchill, Stalin, and Roosevelt.
Apart from Stalin’s Secret War and many other (unconnected) books, Nikolai Tolstoy wrote two books based partly on those events, and connected and similar events: Victims of Yalta (1977, so first published long before, I think, he met von Senger) and The Minister and the Massacres (1986). The latter led to one of the most famous modern libel cases.

I will be informing the police, parliamentary security and the Home Office beforehand of who I intend to name and why – I also now have private security for the first time in my life.
