You see rubbish on Twitter about this, all about how New Zealand’s economy is “booming” etc. Well, the statistics lie, and for a very obvious reason: when you shut down a country almost completely for 2 years, the economy nosedives. Any activity at all after that seems, superficially, to be strong growth.

“Then there is her approach to Covid. Initially, the world bought into the myth that her government was a top performer in eliminating the disease.

The truth, of course, is that it’s relatively simple to quarantine remote islands. And having introduced a strategy of isolation and hard lockdown at the start of the pandemic, Ardern clung to a zero-Covid policy that was way beyond the edge of reason.

Her government shut down businesses, closed entire towns if a small outbreak of the virus occurred, and forced New Zealand citizens who happened to be abroad when the pandemic struck to apply to enter their own country, with only a tiny number of places available via an online lottery system.

At first, the policy was popular, with Ardern using Facebook Live sessions to communicate with the nation in a crumpled jumper, after putting her daughter to bed, in a manner that struck a chord with the public. Indeed, in the 2020 election, her party polled almost 50 per cent.

Yet, as time went on, opposition to this sometimes cruel policy (for which exemptions were only available for celebrities and the ultra-wealthy) grew, with critics lambasting a sluggish vaccine rollout and pointing out that the only world leader more bloody-minded in holding on to a strategy of eliminating Covid at all costs was communist China’s president Xi Jinping.

The crescendo of division and unrest saw huge demonstrations outside parliament.“

“Huge demonstrations“…which were not covered at all by the BBC, Sky, ITN, or the “Lugenpresse” System msm outlets of the UK; and what about that bit re. “exemptions were only available for celebrities and the ultra-wealthy“? Peak pseudo-socialist nonsense. As in “the virus is so dangerous that only the ultra-wealthy and —of course— ‘celebrities’ can do whatever they like”…

It reads more like a parody than real government policy, even if it is from a joke state like New Zealand.

The police should be investigating all that. Why should a black woman in Bristol be facing trial on very similar facts yet “Jack Monroe” not only not investigated but even still being promoted by some of the msm?

A typical “Jack Monroe” supporter might be a woman of about 60 years old, not badly-off, pretty ignorant but thinking herself rather educated, and living in some suburban or rural area; a Guardian reader, pro the Kiev regime, pro the facemask nonsense, needless to say “anti-racist” etc. Or a male, or LGBTQXYZ, equivalent, possibly retired, possibly a business owner in a modest way, probably “woke” etc. Certainly not “poor” or “struggling”.

The first part of that is plainly not libellous even on its face.

The second part may or may not be.

How is saying that “Jack Monroe” “makes more money than the Prime Minister” libellous at all, even if not true? Answer: it isn’t.

So she claims to be “still suing” Con MP Lee Anderson. I wonder. So far, according to Lee Anderson, he has not received any pre-action correspondence as required under the Civil Procedure Rules.

An action in defamation must be brought within a year of the triggering cause, but even then is still expected to be brought expeditiously; in lieu of that, there may be costs consequences.

“Jack Monroe” still has, in theory, 3-4 months in which to bring proceedings, but I doubt whether they will be brought or, if brought, would be successful.

Can anyone rely on any statement put out by “Jack Monroe”? I think not.

My guess is that “Jack Monroe” may even get a solicitor to send a “Letter before Action” to Lee Anderson, which will help her to continue to plead for money im various ways, and keep her in the news, so maybe attracting more mugs to subsidize her. There will, however, be no actual issuance of proceedings against Lee Anderson or Martin Daubney. If I am wrong about that, and proceedings are actually issued, that will eventually turn out to be a very expensive error for the “Bootstrap Cook”.

Actually, she goes lower. Lee Anderson claimed that 30p can feed someone at least for a day or part of a day; “Jack Monroe” claims 11p! Is there a prize for the first idiot or “grifter” who claims to be able to make a 1p lunch?

Christmas University Challenge

Watched Christmas University Challenge. Two teams of alumni, all now prominent and even famous. Birkbeck (London) and Portsmouth (a former polytechnic).

Neither team was much good. The Portsmouth team (three out of four were non-white) knew almost nothing, or at least very little about anything. The Birkbeck team were better (and won) but were also pretty poor all the same.

The captain of the Birkbeck team was the prolific tweeter, political activist and tax barrister, Jo Maugham, also notorious for having bludgeoned a fox to death: see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jolyon_Maugham.

What struck me were several aspects to Maugham’s appearance on the show: first of all, his Michael Portillo-like horrible pink jacket but, more relevantly, perhaps, his incredible ignorance (admittedly not much worse than the rest of his team).

What struck me also was the way in which, whenever Maugham got a question wrong (which was most of the time), he threw his head back and laughed as if he had just done something very clever.

Well, I am not in the sort of financial position where I need a tax barrister, but if I did need one, I have to say that I would look elsewhere (though I have no reason to doubt Maugham’s narrow professional expertise; I just disliked the look of him).

Another odd thing about Maugham was his oddly-fruity or “plummy” English accent, unexpected in someone brought up until his late teens in New Zealand. Like a character in an Agatha Christie adaptation.

If Birkbeck were a poor team, they still won easily over Portsmouth.

It may be immodest to say so, but a team composed only of me and my wife would beat both of those teams together, and without any difficulty whatsoever.

Actually, all the quiz shows are increasingly dumbed-down. Mastermind now has questions which are often embarrassingly easy. The main University Challenge show is better by far, but there are more too-easy questions even on that show than there once were. Sign of the times?

The continuing “Jack Monroe”/”Bootstrap Cook” Twitterstorm

I personally cannot judge as to whether, or to what extent, “Jack Monroe” is “sad, bad, or mad“, in the well-known phrase. Maybe a bit mad and a bit bad…but that is just my opinion, based on what I have read, and 66 years of life-experience.

The more I read about “Jack Monroe”, the more I think “bad” rather than “mad”, in fact.

As I have blogged previously, some of the photos seen on Twitter of the food made from the recipes of the “Bootstrap Cook” seem to be a “dog’s dinner” at best; some have made me feel actually unwell. I don’t mean when made and eaten (I would not make stuff like that anyway, still less ingest it) but just the mere sight of her “food” on Twitter.

I concede that I am not very domesticated and, until I married for the first time (in 1990), had mainly eaten cold food when dining at home (in my twenties and early thirties). In fact, I am still not much of a cook, though I can offer to my readers the following idea, which is relatively cheap, rather tasty, fairly healthy (though admittedly rather high-fat) and, best of all, can be made from start to finish in about 45 mins:

That “zucchini bake” can be added to; you can add whatever vegetables are around— mushrooms, broccoli (inc. stalks, if grated or sliced), carrots etc. The only essentials are eggs, butter, zucchini/courgettes, salt, pepper, and cheese (any kind, but cheddar works well, maybe with some parmesan). Some basil helps.

I do not think I shall make a regular thing out of suggesting recipes. I would probably run out of the things that I myself have actually made in my whole life after a week or two. Still, I hope that the above is useful for someone.

About £5 to serve 4 people, or one person four times. Basic, yes, but I think that it stacks up pretty well against the offerings of “Jack Monroe”…

…and the £24,000 award she collected from her libel case against Katie Hopkins…

I looked at a few tweets by that stupid “Susan Macpark” woman. A Scottish pseudo-“nationalist” who, however, supports migration-invasion by backward non-whites. Crazy. She often flings vituperation at others, either tweeting that their parents must despise them, or simply insulting their intelligence (despite the unthinking tweets that she herself puts out).

That Macpark bitch will not give a penny. Guaranteed.

As to “Jack Monroe”, I have no idea whether she will return to Twitter (more likely than not, because she can then plough on, publicizing her stuff to those who are unwilling to question; she will simply try to ignore the gathering storm), or whether she will just think “well, I have £2,000-£7,000 a month coming in from 600-700 mugs on Patreon, plus maybe another few thousand from other sources, so why bother with Twitter?“

An open question.

As far as that specific building is concerned, I do not entirely agree. Architecture should be about both form and function. The form, in this case is (in my opinion) not so different in both cases, and I expect (though I have never been inside) that the function is better (for today’s purposes) in the replacement building. Admittedly, it is rather ugly, but so was, in my view, the building that it replaced.

Famous missionary explorer David Livingstone was a bit like that.

Well, I am myself rather susceptible to tales of wonder and magic —and sometimes incredible “co-incidences” do happen— but, having now read a number of conflicting fantasies from the tweets etc of “Jack Monroe” (tweeted or said to interviewers over the past decade), I think it only fair and sensible to doubt this one (too).

So long as 667 mugs continue to shell out up to £10 monthly for absolutely nothing but to be part of the “Jack Monroe support echelon” or virtue-signal club, she will be laughing all the way to the bank (or the paint and wallpaper shop), even if (as no doubt will now happen) the msm “Bootstrap Cook” career on TV, radio, and in the Press ends, with the producers, journalists, and publishers running for cover (as I expect they already are).

The whole “Jack Monroe” supporters’ clan/defensiveness thing on Twitter reminds me of those who even now insist on wearing a useless facemask.

The allegation now is that “Jack Monroe” is using dozens of “sock accounts” to interact on Twitter while pretending to have left (having deleted, for the (?) time being her main “@BootstrapCook” account).

Seems plausible to me, looking at the myriad of Twitter accounts with zero or few “followers” that have popped up in the past days and weeks, all attacking critics of “Monroe”.

Saw an extract, about a minute long, of a TV comedy/drama called The Larkins, a remake or re-adaptation of the well-known 1980s series The Darling Buds of May. Except that the husband or boyfriend of one of the characters is now black! The series was set, originally at least, I believe, in the late 1940s!

Typical ludicrous rubbish.

The Coudenhove-Kalergi Plan aims to destroy the racial and cultural integrity of the European peoples by importing vast numbers of blacks and browns, who will then, over time, breed with the white European peoples, producing a black/brown racial group easily ruled over by the mixed Jewish/white stratum controlling the “Money Power”.

I am not “allowed” (in our “free” country) to say…

Import the backward hordes, and you also import their politics and their ancient hatreds.

The knaves and/or traitors at a high level in Britain have, for over 70 years, permitted and even encouraged the importation into this country of backward hordes of various types. Those hordes have, since allowed in, been breeding prolifically. It already looks like an existential crisis not only for the British people but for Britain as a nation.

Meanwhile, the State regards all attempts by young Englishmen to gather together in defence of race, nation, and culture as a form of “terror threat”, to be stamped on by the police and security services.

Another “strange” (perhaps not so strange) anomaly is that quite a number of young Jews go every year from the UK, France etc to Israel to be trained in the use of automatic and semi-automatic weapons, as well as in Israeli techniques of street-fighting. The Jewish influence over the UK political milieu, as well as the police, means that this is regarded as not a problem for the UK…

The cost, though huge, is not the main problem with this.

As to numbers, you only have to look. In 2018, “only” 299 actually crossed the Channel in small boats. Last year, 2021, that had grown to over 25,000, and this year is estimated to reach 65,000.

One or two well-publicized incidents of migrant-invaders being shot and killed in the Channel by the Royal Navy, and few would even try.

That, of course, cannot happen, not because of international conventions and/or similar bs, but because, as previously noted, the political system in the UK is wholly adherent to the Coudenhove-Kalergi Plan, to basically bastardize the peoples of Europe.

What Hitchens does not say is that almost all of the crowds were white English or at least British; very few blacks and browns. Pretty obvious why— this country, and its history and traditions, mean little or nothing to 99% of them. In a word, they are alien.

Speaking of journalistic effluvia, I saw a piece of fake Union Jack-waving nonsense from Andrew Neil last week, saying what a wonderful and united country Britain is, and how we should all be grateful and —implied, at least— not try to change it.

Andrew Neil used to be the best political interviewer around, and also a perceptive commentator, though he sometimes made the odd and silly rant on his late-night TV show, usually attacking “nazis” etc. Still, he was almost always worth watching or, to a lesser extent, and in the msm, reading. He has really begun to disappoint.

Incidentally, it is both amusing and pathetic to see the self-describing “Left” (I myself never use left/right labelling) angry (not angry really, of course, but just virtue-signalling) about the cost of the funeral etc of the late Queen.

The same idiots do not care that (already) several BILLION pounds annually is being wasted on the hotels, council housing, food, gifts, pocket-money and other things (eg NHS care) for cross-Channel migrant invaders, almost all of which invaders are entirely useless, and quite a number actively hostile and/or criminal.

So here we are, 77 years after the end of the Second World War, after the bombing of Germany by the Allied forces (death toll 600,000-800,000), after Hiroshima and Nagasaki, after Vietnam, after the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan (hundreds of thousands killed), and after all sorts of other American transgressions, but when CBS 60 Minutes has a chance to interview Presiodent Raisi of Iran, what is the hot question? “Did the “holocaust” happen?“

The Iranian should have replied that no-one really claims that large numbers of Jews found within Reich territory were not detained, but most of those worked in industrial camps, and the majority that survived were released at the end of hostilities (and then went to various places, including Palestine, where they chucked many Palestinians out of their homes and took them over; stole their homes, if you like).

In fact, there is no credible evidence for much of the “holocaust” farrago, in particular the “biggest lie”, that about supposed “gas chambers”.

Once again, much of society runs scared from a condition which is taken care of in almost all cases by a couple of paracetomol tablets and a few days’ rest. Pathetic.

We tend to think (or used to think) that it was very odd that people, only a few hundred years ago, in the 15th and 16th centuries, were hounded and even executed for speaking in favour of a particular theory of cosmology or theology.

We in the West also thought, during the Soviet period, how odd that people in the Soviet Union or its satellites could be imprisoned, or even executed, for not going along with the “reality” imposed by a half-crazy regime.

Well, look now: many European countries imposing quasi-mediaeval laws against “holocaust” “denial” (free historical research and publication) at the instigation of the Jew/Israel lobby, while “Black Lives Matter”, “trans” activist loonies and others try to restrict freedom of expression in the USA, UK and elsewhere. Behind it, or most of it, “them”. (((Them))).

We know what has to be done, but are “not allowed” to express it openly.

Most of those girls would not have been exploited had they and society more reasoned “racism” and “discrimination”. Fact. As it was, though, they were bombarded from a young age by “anti-racist” propaganda. Behind much of it, at the strategic level? Yes, “them” (((again))).

It is still happening.

We must purge several milieux in the UK, starting with almost everyone and everything in the msm, both print and broadcast media. Not just journalist-liars and “commentators” all singing from the same basic hymn-sheet, but most comedians, many scribblers etc. Take away their rice-bowls. Close down the BBC and other TV stations. Eliminate the corrupters.

Suella Braverman

Looking at the Conservative Party leadership contest, I saw part of an interview with Suella Braverman. Unimpressive. Her knowledge-level is inadequate for the role she wishes to play. Indeed, many have said that she should even never have been appointed Attorney-General (and, with that, granted automatic letters-patent as Queen’s Counsel).

There was a time when any barrister who became an MP could apply to become QC, and be granted it on the nod, which is how otherwise unlikely barristers such as John Mortimer (the Rumpole writer) got the rank. Now no longer so.

Ironic in a way, that it is now more difficult for barristers who are MPs to apply for letters-patent to become “QC” when, for all other barristers, it has never been easier. About 10% of all practising barristers are now “QC”. Devalued, like most other ranks, titles, and honours these days.

Husband is one “Rael Braverman”. Jewish? She herself, though, identifies religiously with Buddhism, not with Judaism or her original Hinduism (mother was a Hindu, father may have been Roman Catholic, having originated in Goa).

Suella Braverman, though, must have been born under a lucky star in that, from being a run-of-the-mill barrister, she is now, only 7 years later, at age 42, in the running (in theory) to be leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister.

I understand why someone such as Watson, making a living as a socio-political “influencer”, will want to keep his various social media platforms active, but there is a limit.

For me, Watson has in the past gone too far in trying not to seriously antagonize the Jew-Zionist lobby, but it could be argued, I suppose, that someone “deplatformed” has no influence at all. A balancing act.

Now the “antifa” and Jew-Zionist tendencies have joined forces to try to repress Watson. Their greatest joy, in that, would be to see him lose his YouTube channel, as well as other platforms, notably his Twitter account.

As previously noted on the blog, the self-describing “Left” (a term I never use baldly) has, since 1989, completely discarded any serious attempt to replace finance-capitalist society with something (anything) potentially better. Quite. I had occasion to visit a small hospital (a routine annual test, not for treatment) a week or two ago. Not busy (they have no A & E). I was the only member of the public there, on entering the hospital, but there was a person standing there with a box of facemasks. He proffered one, using tongs, like an air hostess offering a hot mini-towel.

I thought to keep my disapproval light, so merely asked (in mock-surprise), “oh, you are still doing that?”, to which the mask-profferor replied, slightly censoriously, “this is a hospital“…

As to the hospital itself— deserted. In mid-afternoon. I saw one or two nurses around; literally one or two, no-one else. No doctors, no patients.

I found the place to which I was going. The staff there (two nurses) were very pleasant. They discovered that the administration had messed up the appointments again, they said (meaning the obviously West Indian girl on the telephone a few days previously, and who was based elsewhere— there are very few blacks in my part of the country, so far).

The nurses quickly sorted everything out, and I was out of the hospital 10 minutes later.

I wondered, as I walked over to the car, parked in the convenient (and temporarily free) car park, what on Earth has happened to the NHS. That hospital, never crowded, used to be fairly busy until the evening.

I heard a story from someone else in that vein. The difficulty of even getting an appointment to actually see a GP now, and the Kafka-esque goings on around mostly useless “telephone appointments” arranged by dragon-like receptionists. Also, re. that patient’s GP, who now apparently only bothers to work two days per week!

Does that GP get paid 40% of the average (I think) £120,000? So £48,000 a year for only two days each week?

Is there still a working NHS in the UK?

Ukraine: the road to war

The language is remarkable, and rather crude, in places:

It’s clear the west cannot abandon Ukraine simply out of fear over how far manic Putin might go. Such a collapse would wreck the global order, the UN, and Europe’s security. Yet the longer the war rages, the bigger the risk of a different kind of cataclysmic, world-changing event.

So here’s the choice, as the northern English say: piss or get off the pot. Either the western allies act decisively, right now, to halt this war by demanding an immediate ceasefire and threatening and, if necessary, launching direct military intervention to secure it – as previously urged in this space.

Or, alternatively, Truss, Austin and other hawks stop stoking the fire and setting unrealistic goals, and instead advise Kyiv to accept a negotiated settlement that, regrettably, will inevitably reward Putin’s aggression.“

Overall, urging war with Russia. Over Ukraine. A country with which no Western state is allied in any way. A country which has only been an independent country for 30 years.

This is madness. It needs to stop now, before escalation which might lead to massive destruction in Russia, in the USA, across Europe. Oh…and the almost total destruction of the UK, with its small geographic size, plenitude of targets, and inability to defend itself against nuclear missile attack. Cold comfort for the British people to know that British submarine-launched missiles might have also hit a few Russian targets.

The mega-wealthy have been buying up UK farmland and country estates as well. Look on Rightmove or estate agents’ websites. Try to find large or medium-sized estates and farms in the UK for sale. Not many, and those that do appear are bought quite swiftly. James Dyson alone has been buying large tracts of land from Gloucestershire, through Oxfordshire and north-east as far as Lincolnshire. As for Scotland, few estates are for sale now.

Land is being bought as a long-term hedge. There is diminishing trust or confidence in currency, and in quoted or other shares.

Saw one of my own comments, but on the GAB system, from nearly 4 years ago, from when (in mid-2018) I was expelled from Twitter at the instigation of a pack of Jew Zionists. Most of my tweets are now unavailable, but a few were copied and reposted, either by supporters or enemies, and so are still available, as are a few old GAB remarks (I do not bother with GAB now, nor with other social media platforms).

Still seems very arguable to me.

That has happened to rather many Twitter twits, most of whom were just “me too” pile-on idiots who neither had had any direct contact with me at all, nor thought to behave decently, or just politely, in tweeting to, or about, me. Good riddance to them all.

In fact, at present a few other long-term, malicious, and venomous anti-Millard tweeters are presently in very poor conditions of health (which came upon them suddenly, it seems), and may not be around for much longer. As the Chinese proverb has it, “the stars in their courses fight on the side of the just“…

For Britain, as part of NATO, to get into conflict with Russia about Eastern Ukraine, the eastern part of a territory inextricably linked to Russia for over 1,100 years, is absurd, and might lead to terrible consequences in the UK, should actual (strategic/continental) war result from all of this.

From the golden days of Hollywood…

They may not have had the technical resources of today but, at their best, they could really make films back then.

I think that I may have blogged en passant in the past about how I saw Bette Davis a few years before her death, when she was on the (I think) South Bank Show with Andrei Tarkovsky and maybe someone else as well; filmed at the South Bank Centre in London. That was about 4 years before her death. Sometime in the mid-1980s. In fact, despite her age, she outlived Tarkovsky, who died only a year or so later (1986), aged only 54. Tarkovsky had been only about 5 or 6 years old in 1938 when Jezebel was released.

The public were kept back (mostly not allowed into the building at all). Even inside, there was tight control. I was there just to meet someone else but I was introduced by a third party to the (British) chief of Bette Davis’s security (there was a whole expert team guarding her) and he said that I could stand there next to him as she came through with her “lady in waiting” and a couple of other people. An almost fossilized —and rather imperial— figure, aware of her status, rather like the last Queen of Naples.

It was amazing to see how various unwanted people, mainly autograph-hunters, kept trying to get to her, only to be expertly and diplomatically (though firmly) blocked by the guard team. One fellow even swung down (literally) from an external concrete stairway as a small side door was opened! He too was stopped, autograph book and pen in hand, and still tried to persuade the dinner-jacketed guard to let him through! All the while, the guard chief and I stood about 12 feet away, and Bette Davis + small entourage closer yet. Interesting to see. The chief of security remarked to me, as she passed by, something like “there goes a living legend“. A bit of a cliche, of course, but true.
