Starmer-stein is a very minor politician, not a statesman. Iran is now able to tax all ships, or all it wants to tax, using the Strait of Hormuz. The “going rate” is said to be USD $2M per ship per transit. Normal traffic, i.e. when there is no active conflict, was about 150 ships per day (westward and eastward combined). That adds up about about USD $300M per day into Iran’s coffers. “A nice little earner”, if you like. Even if only the eastward ships are to be taxed, that would still be about USD $150M daily.
