Younger seems entirely unaware that, even now, the UK seems (not to me, but to most of the British people, meaning real British people) not worth defending. What does Younger think the UK will be like by, say, 2034? 2044?
By 2050, half of those inhabiting these islands will not even be British in any real sense. Does Younger imagine that they will agree to be conscripted? Incidentally, it is no answer to say that the agreement of the conscripted is unnecessary; enlistment of the unwilling usually produces poor results.
Younger seems to be part of that UK pseudo-elite at the top of UK affairs which is so featherbedded and isolated from reality—reality as most people experience it in this country— that the same (self-regarding) “elite” constantly get it wrong in every way.

I am sure that Matt Goodwin reads this blog! More seriously (though I think that he does read it), I have been saying what he is now saying for at least 18 months, maybe longer. As on numerous other occasions, the blog has been well ahead of the curve.
Good point (about Labour), but GE 2024 will be more about judging the Con Party record than supporting the underwhelming Lab promises.
As for Brexit, it might have worked had it been done properly, and still could, were there a real British government in place, and one willing to treat with Russia. Britain could have very cheap oil and gas, and an open market.

What were you trying to say about those components before you censored yourself? I couldn’t work it out.
Germany and Austria have paid millions to Jews for the Holocaust. Poland hasn’t to my knowledge as they were not complicit in the crime. I can’t see how they could be said to be complicit when they were under occupation by Nazi Germany themselves.
If they are said to be complicit you may as well say the UK’s government in 1940 was for allowing the British Crown Dependencies of Jersey, Guernsey and its islands to be occupied by the Germans without a shot being fired as Churchill ordered. A tiny number of Jews in Jersey and Guernsey were deported to the concentration camps by the occupying forces.

Well, if I were to tell you, I would be saying what I thought it better not to say. Actually, what crossed my mind is that (as in Occupied Europe 1940-45), some people, motivated by political ideas or ethical considerations, might sabotage the components during the production process.
I did not say it on the blog proper, in the end, by reason of the fact that “the usual suspects” watch my blog like hawks (or vultures), and I could do without some “you-know-who” contriving a complaint that a comment on the blog “incited” sabotage etc.

Certainly, some parts of the story are embellished or outright lies but there is quite a lot of real evidence for the overall fact of it happening to be correct.

No, Alex Younger, we will NOT be compelled to join the armed forces so that Britain goes to war with Russia for no discernable British national interests.
Too many of our finest young men died during the Great War from 1914-1918 for what? Our only Welsh PM in history, David Lloyd-George, promised them , “a land fit for heroes” to return to. Has the British Political Establishment delivered yet on his promise? I would say they haven’t so why should younger generations go off to war for the perceived enemies of the British Political Establishment?
Perhaps, if Britain was a real COUNTRY nowdays and not a globalised business park/economic space and MI6/MI5 ever bothered to do their real jobs then people would be more willing to serve in the armed forces and wouldn’t mind being conscripted.
When did MI5/MI6 protect Britain against treasonous anti-British globalist arseholes like Tony Bliar who done so much damage to this formerly great country?

MI5 is very evidently focussed on quasi-Cold War matters such as people stealing “secrets”, or whether or not some Islamist crazie might blow himself up in a city centre, when at the same time the country is being invaded on a huge scale, something MI5 seems to be OK with, or even somewhat encourage, and certainly cannot stop.

How low will the Tory vote go? A good question. I suspect it has bottomed out in the low twenties. It may go fractionally smaller to 17% 18% 19% (we have seen the last figure on a few occasions in the last couple of months) but no lower than that.
The latest Yougov poll today has them on 20% with Labour on 43%. Soon, in order to save themselves, they will have to legislate for Proportional Representation as time is running out. It is better to have a chance still of being an Opposition with a still credible and decent number of seats than being absolutely clobbered and crushed by the archaic, unfit for purpose, wildly unrepresentative ‘pure’ First Past The Post electoral system. That is what they are risking if they can’t close that huge gap by a significant extent soon.
A Canada 1993 situation caused by FPTP is no longer an unrealistic scenario.

Personally, I think it is incredibly selfish, immoral and basically unpatriotic of a party to know what looks to be very likely to now happen and not act in time to prevent it. Labour should not be allowed to establish a ridiculous ‘elected dictatorship’ when that party is EVEN NOW not getting 50% of the national vote or more. The MAJORITY of the electorate is STILL not endorsing the anti-British, PC globalist Labour rabble.

As you say or have said, the Con Party should try to launch a proportional representation bill, even though it would not get through all its stages by the time of GE 2024; if nothing else, it would be a vote-catcher. However, you leave out a major fact—the Con Party is “the stupid party”… It cannot save Britain; it cannot even save itself and its mostly very poor MPs.

The NHS should be privatised and replaced by a mixture of private and state health insurance schemes as in Germany or the high tech economic superpower of South Korea. The original ethos behind the service when it was set-up in 1947 was a very noble and correct one that still has relevance today but the model of universal health provision as provided for by the NHS should be examined now to see if other models should replace it.
Mrs Thatcher, John Major and Cameron privatised things they shouldn’t have done such as water, the railways and the Post Office but left the NHS model a state owned enterprise.

Japan has privatised railways. They are very successful but that is due to Japan’s huge population mostly living in a small plain of land containing the large cities of Osaka and Tokyo. The vast majority of Japan is mountainous so large numbers of people can’t reside in those areas.

Alexander Younger is a perfect example of so many pretentious youngsters who joined the Army, “served” 3 or 4 years in the Guards to pursue later a career in politics or business. These ridiculous “drawing room soldiers” have always been a feature in British society, usually spoiled and useless sons of noblemen or wealthy merchants who joined the Guards out of snobbery, did nothing for a few years and then left claiming they were “soldiers”.
Any man who was serious about his military career would stay in his regiment and, if he was any good, he would have retired as a colonel after 25 or 30 years of service. From what I read, usually, those who were quite useless would retire (or were “invited” to do so) after reaching the rank of captain. I am quite sure that would have been the case of Alexander Younger.
