Coronavirus panic-buying continues

Some bulk-buying may not be so stupid in the present situation, but some is very silly and is clearly “panic-buying”, such as the old woman of whom I read, “caught” in an Aldi store trying to buy no less than 80 cans of tomatoes! Enough for months, surely? (She was only allowed 4 cans in the end).

I saw this in the Daily Mail online:

Sainsbury’s in Hertford, at opening time. The photo shows what is happening: hordes of old people (and a few “Vicky Pollard” “chavscum” mothers) lining up to imitate a cloud of locusts. Some stores are prioritizing the elderly, but that may be a misconceived idea.

Where I live, in a generally affluent part of Hampshire, the elderly (who are the majority of the population) are the ones who are bulk-buying almost everything. The local Waitrose is stripped bare within minutes. I spoke to a lady who had been there in mid-morning and already all loo paper, pasta, pasta sauce, tuna, bread, flour and cleaning products had gone; and that happens every single day, it seems. Affluent —or at least not poor— pensioners (many in large houses, with several fridges and freezers) are stocking up for Armageddon.

I went yesterday evening to a village shop and sub-post office. The village has no other shop, just a church, a pub-restaurant and a car dealer. The little shop is a grocery outlet which also sells booze and local produce (prepared crab, smoked trout and salmon, as well as pheasant and other game; local asparagus, local honey).

On an unrelated aspect, it seems to me that small shops and little post offices like that, in villages or areas without other shops, should not have to pay business rates, council tax or even other taxes (eg on profits), for good social reasons. A place like that is more than just a food, drink and postage stamps outlet. It is a community hub.

The owner told me that affluent old people had bought all the bread that morning and did so every morning, and were probably freezing it. This is an area where people, often in sizeable houses, and with comfortable incomes, have 2, 3, or 4 large fridges and freezers.

The joke is that those are exactly the people most likely to spout the “we won the war” stuff, about Britain being a “nation” (which it scarcely is now), “all pulling together”. They all vote Conservative and would deny that they are featherbedded in various ways.

It is not that I dislike the elderly, as such. After all, at 63 I am well on the way myself, and anyone under 40 is likely to regard me as quite “old” (though few who meet me realize that I am that old). However, it seems to me that there is a dual process going on:

  • an increasingly aged and ageing population; but also
  • a creeping infantilization, which affects all ages.

Enemies of the people

I have just invented and instituted a new tradition on my blog pages, namely the “enemies of the people” section, to consist of tweets exposing enemies of Britain and Europe generally in the enemies’ own tweets.

I have decided to launch my new section by featuring two-in-one: a Jewish woman called “Dr Miranda Kaufmann”, as well as an apparently similarly inimical organization called “Octopus Publishing” (which may not be all bad; judgment reserved):

“Infection” is the buzzword of the day. The fields of academia and publishing in the UK are both infected and infested; both need a purge.

So “bosses” (whatever that means— in Sun-speak, it can just mean a middle-manager) are taking a pay cut, but the “workers” are being “axed”…

Have these people never heard of 1789, 1848, 1917, 1933 etc?

“Justice”?

Pakistani woman and four others attacked a schoolgirl (was she English? Probably), punching her, ripping out hair, then later intimidating her on Facebook. Found guilty on overwhelming evidence but still denying her guilt. Result? Non-custodial sentence. Quelle surprise. Sentencing judge ludicrously says that “the offence was so serious that he could have sent Mahmood to prison, but decided to spare [her]” because the w** woman is mother of four children and is carer for her mother. And (unsaid) the British people pay for all six of the bastards…and probably others in the family/clan…

Newspapers

Saw circulation figures for last year. The Sun “newspaper” only sells about 1.3M copies now (if that— the 1.3M is a circulation figure). In living memory, indeed recent memory (1990s) it was around 3M. The Guardian circulation is (or was, a year ago) 134,000. In other words, only about 1 person out of 500 in the UK read the Guardian (in print) in 2019. Now? Maybe the 134,000 is around 120,000. Something like that.

Not one newspaper increased its circulation in 2019 over 2018. Some recorded falls as great as 18%. The Daily Telegraph circulation fell by 10%.

Of course, that does not take into account online readership, but I think that the Internet is culling newspapers in print, as Rupert Murdoch predicted years ago. Also, trust has been lost. Newspapers like the Daily Mail and Daily Mirror are using recent graduates in journalism, paying them peanuts for their often semi-literate drivel, and trying to push political agendas such as that promoted by the Jewish lobby. People are voting with their feet.

Sabisky

I speculated yesterday that maybe Sabisky was a reject from either MI5 or SIS and that that was the reason why so few details about him seem to be in the public domain. His university (which one? Was there one?); his marital status (he is said to have 4 children, despite only being 27 or 28 himself; who is his wife or “partner”?); where was he born, brought up etc? None of the msm has said anything about any of that, neither has his work history (if any) come to light. Sabisky is described in some newspaper reports as “an academic” but no specifics have been published. Was he a lecturer somewhere? We do not know.

In relation to the above, I see that there is a kefuffle about Sabisky never having been vetted. Well, maybe he was, even if a few years ago, if he was at one time a candidate member of SIS or MI5 on some kind of probation. It’s just a line of speculation, or what 1960s people would call a “riff”, but it would seem to fit the known facts, which include the fact that Sabisky was recruited by Dominic Cummings, whose own background (especially his time in Russia) is murky in parts.

Minor news from the ISIS barbarity

An aspirant “ISIS” barbarian (English but a convert to Islam) has pleaded guilty to, in effect, preparing to blow up St. Paul’s Cathedral.

She follows the trend of “Islamist” terrorists or would-be terrorists (both Muslims by birth and converts) in knowing next to nothing of her preferred religion. She apparently became a Muslim after her Muslim neighbours were “kind” to her.

It is clear even from the newspaper report that this person is, if not actually mentally unwell, then certainly “disturbed”. Psychiatric reports on her are being prepared.

The Mirror report gives few details of her life, but one can surmise that she is probably also of low IQ etc. Again, par for the course, looking at earlier cases, both in the UK and elsewhere.

Under other circumstances, she might have become (indeed, perhaps also was) a “refugees welcome” dimwit, an “antifa” idiot, and/or even a supporter of Jew-controlled anti-“hate” bodies such as “Hope not Hate” or even the “Campaign Against Antisemitism”. Stranger things have been known.

The accused was obviously easy meat for MI5 (or Anti-Terrorism Command police) entrapment (using the word in a lay, non-legal, sense). The FBI has been doing all that for decades in the USA.

A number of years ago, a similar person, an Irish autistic, converted to Islam, adhered to the then-feared ISIS barbarians, and tried to blow up the new shopping centre in central Exeter (which was not yet fully built when I still practised as a barrister there). The “Irish Muslim” failed, succeeding only in exploding a device in a loo into which he had locked himself. It detonated while he was unable to get out. Quite funny in a sense, but not for him. I believe that his injuries were grave. He only had himself to blame.

I suppose the lesson is that today’s “dedicated” terrorist, willing to kill and be killed, need not be, and in fact rarely is, any kind of deep thinker, let alone (if Muslim) an Islamic scholar. The warning flags are petty and non-political offences such as minor theft, minor drugs offences etc, isolation from general society, mental problems.

The dedicated terrorists of the past usually had a more or less thought-out ideology, some group discipline, a strategy. The list is long. In my mind would be the Russian and other anti-Romanov terrorists of the 19th and early 20th centuries (Bolsheviks, Narodnaya Volya, anarchists etc), the Jew terrorists of the period of British-Mandate Palestine (1918-1948),

the so-called “French Resistance” and similar groups elsewhere in WW2 occupied Western Europe, the Soviet-led partisans of Russia, Belorussia, Ukraine and Eastern Europe generally, EOKA in British-ruled Cyprus, the insurgents in British-ruled Malaya, the Irish Republican Army in Northern (and Southern) Ireland,

not forgetting the various “Loyalist” groups. As Oscar Wilde said, “the Ulster Unionist, always ready to foment a loyal rebellion”. Brilliant.

My above list is scarcely exhaustive. We could add the Basque terrorists of ETA (a particularly formidable group), the Palestinian or pro-Palestinian groups (leaving aside arguable justifications…) and many others. Algerian nationalists and the OAS were of particular importance in the early 1960s.

One cannot really compare even the least organized of the major terror or “urban guerrilla groups (even such as the “Carlos” —Ilyich Ramirez Sanchez— group) with today’s “Islamist” and other terrorists. Those others had, as already mentioned, ideologies, commitment, organization (up to a point), general aims and strategies, technical capabilities (look at the IRA’s bomb-making expertise, for example), and, often, help from State actors such as the GRU, Stasi etc.

Looking at the present wave of individual or small-group terrorists (often infiltrated or set-up by provocateurs) one can see that the damage that they do in society is outweighed, in the collective mind of the State, by the PR assistance they give to the State, their acts suggesting that the organs of the State need more power, more legal help, more money, more staff etc.

One example is Jesus Christ praying in Hebrew (most scholars believe that His usual spoken language was Aramaic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Language_of_Jesus, though it is true that He may have used spoken Hebrew too for sacramental purposes).

Most importantly, the Play as now performed has had removed the original Biblical line, “Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children” [from Matthew 27:25)(King James version; the version used in Germany is not identical but has the same meaning]; “the people” there meaning “the Jews”.
