Saturday quiz

Well, this week I scored the same as political journalist John Rentoul— 7/10. I did not know the answers to questions 6, 7, and 8 (in fact I had read about the last, but had forgotten it).
Historical note
On this day, 80 years ago, backstabbers attempted to kill Adolf Hitler and then to seize power in Berlin and over the Third Reich: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/20_July_plot.
Classical Hochverrat [“high treason”].
I am willing to accept that some of the conspirators acted out of a sense of higher duty, and with the idea of bringing a halt to the war on the Western Front, and so also bringing a halt to the devastating aerial bombing of Germany (which eventually killed as many as 800,000 people). However, to attempt the assassination of the head of both state and government at such a time of crisis can only be seen as treason, if the term has any meaning [see also https://ianrobertmillard.org/2020/01/08/treason-is-a-matter-of-timing/].
The conspirators wanted to call a halt, via armistice or truce, on the Western Front but continue to fight Stalin’s Soviet Union on the Eastern Front. They seem to have believed that the Americans and British would have accepted that. Not impossible, but very unlikely. Roosevelt and Churchill, at the Casablanca Conference in early 1943 [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casablanca_Conference] had jointly called for the war against the German Reich to be fought until the latter declared unconditional surrender.
I cannot but feel some understanding of the motives of the 20 July 1944 conspirators, despite their treason, and despite their attempt to kill Hitler. They wanted to keep Germany, and all Central Europe, from being completely obliterated. They were unaware at the time of the progress being made by Jewish scientists in the USA towards the development of an atomic bomb (originally planned to be used against Germany, not —primarily— Japan); had they known of it, they would perhaps have felt doubly justified.
The 20 July plotters gambled for the highest stakes, and lost.
I do not “condone” the actions of the plotters; neither do I “condemn” them (and my views make no difference either way). Let history judge. Die Weltgeschichte ist das Weltgericht [“the history of the world is the judgment of the world”— Schiller].

Let us hope that creatures of evil such as Ursula von der Leyen do not succeed in provoking or instigating another such regional or world war, which would be, this time, even more devastating for Germany, all of Europe, and the world as a whole.

Britain 2024
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13652631/Roma-police-Leeds-riots-locals.html
“Inside the Roma community ‘persecuted’ by police: How violent Leeds riots were the latest act of lawlessness to hit a deprived suburb where ‘a problem for one is a problem for all‘.
Many have large families, and around 5,000 Roma are now believed to live in the deprived neighbourhood, attracted by its spacious three-story terraces and low house prices.
Harehills has long been one of the most ethnically diverse areas of Leeds.“
[Daily Mail]
Even that Daily Mail report, if you read it in full, bends over backwards to be “nice” and “liberal” towards the Roma Gypsy “community”.
If I comment here about the bastards, no doubt the “usual suspects” will make yet another malicious complaint to the police (our new poundland Stasi) about me, which would be (again) a bore and a nuisance, so I shall allow the readers of the blog to read between the lines, as in other police states.

I have been blogging about that, and in greater detail, since 4 July 2024, and indeed even before then.
Good morning Ian! Would you be so kind as to explain to me what the hell was that? I am referring to the blond lady being arrested. There is an awful lot of shouting and I could not understand a word. Thank you

*As I understand it* from Twitter/X etc, that was a lady who wanted an end to the riot being carried out by the alien untermenschen, but the police, typically (in Britain in recent years) apparently arrested (or threatened to arrest) her! Presumably, they thought she was “inflaming” the situation. Hard to see how, with buses, police cars etc turned over and set on fire.
It is a pity that the mob could not have been permanently dealt with, but there it is. Britain in 2024.

Thank you, Ian! I suspected it was something like that. The British police force is an enemy of the British people as it is composed of and led by traitors who will do ANYTHING to keep their pathetic jobs. BTW, this applies to ALL the European police forces

Executions are banned in this country nowadays as is the use of judicial corporal punishment which could be a suitable sentence for rioters.
Mind you, I am not so sure we should entrust the judiciary in this country with such stiff sentencing options. It seems to me far too many of our so-called ‘learned judges’ are upper-class pricks/wholly out of touch, complete morons with a capital M eg a recent case in which Just Stop Oil people got sentences of years in prison yet people who do real harm to others such as these rioters which must frighten old people in particular or drug dealers get overly lenient sentences. The judge in that recent case involving Just Stop Oil protesters let off a police officer who had sex in his police car and someone found with indecent sex pictures of children.
Still, paedophilia within the British judiciary is hardly unknown! No wonder many want the ability of judges to exercise their discretion in cases to be severely curtailed by Parliament or even abolished altogether.
Can’t we just sack our idiot judges en masse and replace them with much more sensible Japanese or Singaporean judges?

That says it all! Whilst I have nothing personally against the upper-classes or people who have attended schools such as Eton, Harrow, Winchester, Rugby, Charterhouse ect or more minor public/private schools I think our judiciary would be more apt to making sensible decisions if its members came from a more socially varied background. Too many judges are out of touch with the reality experienced by ordinary people and no doubt this is at least partially because of their backgrounds/education.
There still seems to be a view on the part of all too many judges that crimes involving theft ect committed by poor people should be punished more severely than crimes such as drug dealing/assaults/paedophilia etc. It seems to be a hangover from the days when we executed criminals for property crimes when no other death penalty country did or if they had capital punishment for such offences hardly used it for that purpose.

I cannot agree with your idea that some of the traitors of July 20th 1944 were misguided fools who acted “out of a sense of higher duty”; because that is NOT true; the bastards knew very well that it would be impossible to reach an agreement with the Western powers. Churchill and Roosevelt announced in January 1943 that they would not accept anything but “unconditional surrender”.
Besides, most of the traitors had been conspiring against Hitler since 1933; therefore all their lies about their “love and concern about Germany” are just that: lies. Those vile and resentful snobs hated Hitler from the very beginning. I am translating a German study published in the 1970s about the network of traitors known as “The Resistance”. Once I finish the work, I will forward a copy to you. You will be surprised by the scope and importance of that group of traitors.

Thank you.
The anti-Hitler people in Germany were on a spectrum which went from out and out Stalinists and/or Soviet agents to conservative traditionalists and even monarchists.
Obviously, with my views, I tend to be hostile to any anti-Hitler elements, but it is clear that the “antis” came from a variety of ideological directions, and acted from a variety of motivations, ranging from personal ambition and malice through to something akin to perceived altruism.

What about the reverse snobbery of Hitler? Der Fuhrer hated many members of the German upper-classes for no good reason. Some of them represented the best of Germany and its culture.

You do not know much about Hitler; otherwise, you would not have written the comment above. Although I am an admirer of Hitler, I am not blind and I recognise his flaws and mistakes, which, by the way, apply mostly to his performance as a military leader.
Hitler was NEVER a snob according to either of its two definitions: (A) “A person who vulgarly apes his social superiors” (B) “One who despises those who are considered inferior in rank, attainment, or taste”
Hitler disliked, and quite rightly so, the nobility for its cowardly conduct during the 1920s when most of its members retired to their estates leaving the people to fight the Reds that trying to take over the country.
Hitler knew that many nobles despised him, and he was right! Those snobs hated him because he put an end to their privileges.
You said he hated some members of the upper classes “for no good reason” Really? On 9th November 1923, Hitler released Gustav von Kahr, the Prime Minister of Bayern, General von Lossow and Colonel Ritter von Seisser, the Police chief, after they gave him their word of honour that would not act against him. As soon as they were free these “gentlemen” ordered the troops to fire on Hitler and his followers. Hitler should have had them executed as soon as he became Chancellor; however, only von Kahr was executed in 1934 (as he deserved).
Since you seem to know so much, who were those members of the upper classes who “represented the best of Germany and its culture”? Please, do tell…

It seems as if there is a connection between ethnically diverse areas and their being lawless crapholes eh, Daily Tory Moron?
Will the Daily Mail and its beloved Conservative Party ever ‘get it’? Trump has remade the Republican Party in his own image and marginalised the liberal, globalist Establishment types within. He is poltically astute enough to realise the ‘new politics’ required the Republican Party to move towards the ‘centre ground’/’Left’ on economics in order to stop the party being only the voice of corporate America and to the ‘Right’ on social issues. His choice of running mate, J.D. Vance, looks inspired.
Can the Conservative Party get itself a ‘British Trump’? If it doesn’t and merely follows the formula of globalist and elitist people like Cameron and Osbourne it will fall further and disappear entirely. They are in the very last chance saloon now.

If Trump wins again there will be a President of half-British descent and a Vice President of what looks to be fully British descent in the White House. J. D Vance comes from Ulster stock:

I see that our new illustrious Foreign Secretary, David Lammy, has recently made some insulting remarks about Mr Vance. A bit of a stupid thing to do when Vance might soon be the Vice President of the USA! Someone needs to tell Lammy he needs to be DIPLOMATIC in his new job!

Yes, a ‘None of the Above’ inherently rigged election with an deserved appalling turnout but STILL too many voted for the fake Conservative and virulently anti-British and useless New Labour Mark 2 parties. At least their combined vote share was less than 60% for the first time but it should have been lower still. I would like to see them both poll at less than 50% considering their decades of incompetent misrule.

Regarding the evil repulsive traitor Ursula von der Leyen (original last name Albrecht), here’s an interesting fact:
Both her family (the Albrechts) AND her husband’s family (the von der Leyens) BOTH feature six-pointed REDACTED-style yellow stars in their family coats-of-arms.
What are the chances?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I believe that others have told me in the past that Ursula von der Leyen is part-Jew, but I preferred not to say so until I had incontrovertible proof. Of course, that would fit in with the Coudenhove-Kalergi Plan or agenda…
Ursula von der Leyen’s support for Europe being invaded by non-Europeans would also fit.
A very sinister woman.

I am sorry but you are jumping to conclusions and, from the point of view of European heraldry, talking nonsense.
I am not saying categorically that they do not have (((aliens))) in their family tree but let´s not get paranoid. Practically ALL the traitors who formed the so-called “Resistance” against Hitler were 100% Aryan bastards: Ullrich von Hassel, Carl Gördeler, Erwin von Witzleben, Freytag von Loringhoven, Heinrich von Stülpnagel, Ludwig Beck, etc…
Did you get my point? Some people need to find an (((alien))) in the family tree of a traitor as if that would explain or justify his/her behaviour. Let´s get real.
