Migration-invasion continues

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-56923096

Over 200 in a day arriving on the beaches (and thousands by other methods: “spouses” and “fiancees”, “students”, “family members” etc)…

Even 200 a day (and high Summer is not yet with us), means (averaged) tens of thousands in a year.

Anyone assisting or even condoning the invasion is a traitor to the people of this country, to their children and their future.

Probably worth listening to, anyway…

Worth reading.

Indeed, but Hitchens wants to keep his newspaper column, and so will not (I think) ever mention Zionist Occupation Government(s) (aka “ZOG”), the New World Order (NWO) or Bilderberg…[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bilderberg_meeting]. NATO is on the label, as is “US power”, but the content is NWO…

As for my assessment of Hitchens himself, I wrote the following about 2 years ago: https://ianrobertmillard.org/2019/05/19/peter-hitchens-and-his-views/.

(((Who))) indeed???

There is a very obvious Jewish strain in the British royal family. You only have to look at some of them. Princess Margaret was the most obvious of all, arguably.

Alison Chabloz

I have nothing much to add to what I wrote on this blog yesterday: https://ianrobertmillard.org/2021/04/17/diary-blog-17-april-2021-including-latest-thoughts-about-the-alison-chabloz-situation/.

At present it seems more likely than not that the persecuted singer-songwriter, satirist and commentator will be released early, on an electronic tag, next week; so far, she has been in prison for nearly three weeks since her recent conviction and sentence. If she is not so released, either next week or thereafter, she will stay in prison until the latter part of May.

Alison Chabloz is appealing her conviction and sentence; the appeal is likely to be heard, in Crown Court, on or about 3-4 June 2021.

In reality, almost all of the dictatorial measures taken in 2020 and 2021 in the UK were and are useless in terms of the “panicdemic”, and yet have trashed much of the economy, and much of society as well, including our cherished illusions about being a society under law, and our equally cherished ideas about our civil rights.

Hm…now there’s an idea…

[Today’s blog will be short, and so will be conjoined with that of tomorrow, 14 April 2021]

Press standards, and a few other thoughts

From a Daily Mirror report, penned by “journalists” Alec Whitaker and Lorraine King:

Bride-to-be Tiffany Anderson, 28, even done the books for Rhys Mason so he could a tab on his ill-gotten gains while he stored the drugs in the safe at her tanning studio.” https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/beauty-salon-boss-allowed-fiance-23881586

She “done the booksso he could a tab on his ill-gotten gains“?! Newspapers such as the Daily Mirror may not be great literature but they used to be at least halfway literate. Nowadays, supposed journalists are often seen writing such as “she was stood at the back“! Not only the Mirror, incidentally. The Daily Mail is also terrible. Others too.

Neither is the above sentence, about someone called Tiffany, an isolated mistake. Look at the sub-headline in the same report.

On the wider question, how is it that the defendants got off so lightly? The thug boyfriend got 27 months, so he will be out in a year. As for the “ho”…yes, that’s right...suspended sentence. Who needs a Get Out Of Jail Free Card when you have a couple of young children as an argument in mitigation to put before the sentencing judge?

Finally, the court was told that the amount made by the couple was uncertain. Maybe so, but they owned a Range-Rover (albeit a decade old).

If the State, if society, is unwilling to really repress drug dealers and users, it will never solve the problem…

Alison Chabloz

Nothing new about Alison Chabloz’s proposed appeal and/or bail application. I shall add detail as I have it.

In the meantime, at least Alison has now already served (as of tomorrow,14 April 2021) 2 full weeks of what is effectively, or in real terms, a 7-8 week sentence.

Straw in the wind?

I was at, inter alia, a filling station today. As I went into the kiosk to pay, a lady was just coming out. I noticed that she was unmasked, though had pulled up her loose woollen jumper in a ludicrous gesture to the Covid toytown police state regime; yet the mere fact that she had no facemask muzzle on made my heart leap. Freedom!

More seriously, few really have much (if any) fear of “the virus” now (for good reason) but are complying with the facemask nonsense purely out of conformism and convenience. The whole nonsense of the “panicdemic” is ebbing away, not before time.

Translation of tweeter “@HerbyMcfly”s tweet: “I only accept what the msm news outlets tell me. I have no idea about the “Great Reset” or other proven (and even admitted) matters that are often lazily called “conspiracy theories”. I cannot even understand why a serial and constant liar, chancer, and opportunist like Boris Johnson would lie again for political advantage...”

Truly, “democracy” (and education) is wasted on some people.

“Beginning to think”?! Good grief! Where has that tweeter been for the past 50 years?!

Tweeter “@BillDrysdale6” makes a good point. A similar example might be the fairly useless and certainly hypocritical utterances of Laurence Fox, the “Free Speech Union” etc. While they are (like Breitbart, Prison Planet Watson, UKIP, Brexit Party, Farage etc) “controlled opposition”, the utterances of those people and groups do start to awaken some people, if not “radicalize” them directly.

…and there is no semi-placebo vaccine available, ironically.

…”had enough”, perhaps, but “do anything much about it”, beyond posting on Twitter, I doubt it.

I have no quarrel with people trying to raise socio-political consciousness by tweeting, vlogging, blogging (as I myself do), but those activities alone will not trigger anything directly.

I, who once lived in London (mostly Little Venice, but also several other areas from time to time), now have not even visited the capital for over 4 years, and have not followed the contest for the position of Mayor in detail.

I imagine that Khan, though useless and unpleasant, will probably win; the “Conservative” candidate, Shaun Bailey, has never done anything but be a kind of “Uncle Tom” for various parts of the Conservative Party etc, except to run a “charity” which accomplished nothing, and which suffered from financial “irregularities” (though Bailey was never actually charged with anything). Let’s just say that the monies “disappeared” somewhere…[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaun_Bailey_(AM)#Career_before_politics].

Bailey may or may not have been dishonest; he may have been simply incompetent and/or negligent. Just the person to run London! Oh, no…wait!

Since 2016, Bailey has been a “list” member of the London Assembly. Nearly £60,000 a year for doing not a lot…[https://www.london.gov.uk/about-us/governance-and-spending/spending-money-wisely/salaries-expenses-benefits-and-workforce-information].

Bailey recently held a press conference, but the only person he could get to be filmed with him was a woman who could best be described as a “Balkan fraud”, and who was actually convicted of fraud and forgery a number of years ago (in 2013). ‘Nuff said…(for now).

The bookmakers have Khan as 1/33 (thirty-three-to-one on) favourite at present. Bailey is at 45/1 (against), with the second favourite one Brian Rose, an American former banker and heroin addict [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Rose_(podcaster)], and who stands at present at 25/1 in the betting, thus far ahead of Bailey but far far behind Khan: https://www.oddschecker.com/politics/british-politics/london-mayoral-election/winner.

Laurence Fox, the actor and (supposed) “free speech” champion is a candidate (presently in the betting at 250/1).

There are 20 candidates altogether, and a more useless bunch it would be hard to find…[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_London_mayoral_election#Candidates].

They call a circus like that “democracy” (“democrappy”?)…

No doubt true, at least up to a point, but there are more important matters to be addressed: migration invasion, London becoming a lawless zoo, the destruction of civil rights (made easier by the “panicdemic” measures), the politically-motivated “lawfare” (malicious complaints and prosecutions) by the Jew-Zionist lobby, etc.

“The simulacrum of the human”…how appropriate…

The academic milieu in the UK, USA etc is very sick now.

Exploiters and untermenschen of that type should be eliminated. I am not talking about “capital punishment”, i.e. judicial elimination, as such, but elimination for reasons of social health. A social health measure.

The “Campaign Against Antisemitism” is plotting all the time. For example, both of the presently-active cases against persecuted satirist and singer, Alison Chabloz, were instigated by this malicious pressure group.

Incidentally, I believe that Alison Chabloz will welcome any and all support at her trial on Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 31 March, i.e. this upcoming week. Westminster Mags, Marylebone Road, London. Nearest Underground, Edgware Road (Circle and District Line).

The Twitter account “@MaierViv” has plenty of information about the main named Zionist trolls and conspirators.

These fanatical Zionist Jews are in fact a tiny minority, even in the Jewish community. The “CAA” has relatively few members. I would be surprised were I to be told that their whole membership exceeds 500. Quite possibly a far smaller number; out of at least 250,000 (full) Jews in the UK. In other words, only one UK-resident Jew in every 500 or so, indeed perhaps only one out of every 1,000, actually belongs to this unpleasant little organization which is busy using “lawfare” to achieve its political ends.

Such traitors do more harm than spies or even terrorists could ever do.

As for thick-as-two-short-planks Priti Patel, her “cunning plan” seems to be to try to discourage small-boat migration-invasion, while allowing in, on an even more lax basis, so-called “legal” immigrants of all kinds, including “asylum-seekers”.

The result of the above is that small-boat invaders will not be returned (anywhere) because most will destroy their papers and/or lie about their origins, while —at the same time— huge new waves of “legal” migration will come. That’s without even thinking about the (up to) 5 MILLION Hong Kong Chinese expected to arrive.

Greyzone

I saw a Swedish thriller series called Greyzone: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greyzone.

Enjoyable, if slightly slow in places. Generally watchable. A team of Swedish and Danish counter-terror officers try to track a team of Islamist terrorists who are planning to use a stolen missile warhead mounted on a drone, and to attack a target not yet known to the authorities.

What made me laugh is how a huge amount of skill and ingenuity is used to try to catch the terrorists, but no-one ever questions the presence in Scandinavia of large populations of alien Muslims, without which situation, and regardless of the fact that (?) 90% or more are neither terrorists nor supporters of terrorism, the terror plot in the TV series would never have been possible…

I myself do not claim to be very knowledgeable about Egyptian politics; I have been there a couple of times, as a visitor, on one visit living there for a few months: https://ianrobertmillard.org/2019/03/07/when-i-was-not-arrested-in-egypt.

Stray thoughts

Let us take a country, unnamed. In that country, freedom of expression is gradually whittled down to almost nothing, especially on certain topics that are the mainstay of a certain ethno-religious minority within the unnamed country. Malicious prosecutions are bulldozed past lazy, dozy, incompetent, or suborned police, prosecutors and even courts.

In the unnamed country in question, the newspapers, radio stations, newspapers, magazines, are virtually all controlled or very strongly influenced by that same ethno-religious minority. In any case, a government organization has regulatory power over TV and radio and works to the agenda of that same minority.

In that country, the political system is likewise controlled, making the formation and operation of a “democratic” political party almost impossible, and certainly (combined with control of the msm) making political success in the ordinary peaceful way all but impossible.

Online, the same group (in fact, a small subset of the minority mentioned), in that same country, makes sure that dissidents are removed from major social media platforms. Any payment pages they have are also interfered with, and donations made difficult.

At the same time, malicious complaints are made about any dissident persons holding views inimical to the same minority mentioned above. Such complaints are made to social media platforms, to employers or business clients of the dissidents, and also to police, as already mentioned.

In such a situation of unfreedom, what is to be done, in what has become, in that unnamed country, an emergent police state, effectively controlled or influenced (to a degree amounting to near-control) by a small and clearly-defined minority?

In fact, of course they represented her views and those of the “ZOG” BBC, which is now an organization wholly inimical to British and all other white European people.

To be fair, why should “Naga Munchetty” (real name Subha Nagalakshmi Munchetty-Chendriah) be favourable to the Union flag? After all, though born in London, she is not British by origin: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naga_Munchetty. She is, basically, alien.

The problem with Naga Munchetty is not her view of the Union flag (discourteous though that was) but the fact that she and others who are basically not British —and are fundamentally anti-White race and culture— are on the BBC and other TV and radio stations at all (certainly in the numbers they are).

Also, why are mediocre people such as Naga Munchetty and her English or Irish fellow sofa-sitter paid large amounts to sit looking stupid, and asking banal questions, on morning TV? A side point, but another irritating aspect all the same.

Still, her behaviour (not for the first time) is rather rude, and also rather churlish, bearing in mind the opportunities —and the luxury lifestyle— which this country has provided for her.

The Naga Munchetty storm in a Twitter teacup has brought all the political loonies and deadheads out! Here are a few:

Oh, yes, the right to work in Slovakia, Portugal, Finland. I am sure that millions of Brits are gnashing their teeth that they can no longer do that! What world do these pro-EU idiots inhabit? Yes, true, I myself lived in France for years (though worked elsewhere, mostly in the UK), but the British masses never realistically had the opportunity to work in mainland EU. Only a few here and there (if you leave out the sad chancers trying to do B&B in Spain or France).

Here’s another:

Well, I do not think that the Hakenkreuz (Swastika) is “sinister” anyway, and neither is the Union flag.

In 1920, Adolf Hitler decided that the Nazi Party needed its own insignia and flag. For Hitler, the new flag had to be “a symbol of our own struggle” as well as “highly effective as a poster.” On August 7, 1920, at the Salzburg Congress, this flag became the official emblem of the Nazi Party. In Mein Kampf, Hitler described the Nazis’ new flag: “In red we see the social idea of the movement, in white the nationalistic idea, in the swastika the mission of the struggle for the victory of the Aryan man, and, by the same token, the victory of the idea of creative work, which as such always has been and always will be anti-Semitic.” [National Museum of American History;https://americanhistory.si.edu/collections/search/object/nmah_1357427].

The above two tweets represent a current within the UK which is or was probably most concentrated in Corbyn-Labour. A cartoon view of both history and contemporary UK politics.

The anti-Union Jack people may be (?) in the majority on Twitter, but in the real world are a small minority. I myself am not a devotee, particularly, of conservative faux-nationalism, nor of monarchy for that matter, but it is irritating when aliens, and/or those with no alternative to speak of, attack either in a silly way. I’m English, you see…

Tweeter “@Helen121” is an example of a quite commonly seen phenomenon: the (almost certainly) white British person who sincerely, though wrongheadedly, believes that decent civic values, culture, law, order etc can survive migration invasion by (and subsequent breeding by) million upon million non-Brits; non-Europeans who have (even when born here) no real connection to our history, culture, beliefs, or values.

Peter Hitchens neglects to point out that it is hardly surprising that the (supposedly) “educated classes” in Britain have not, en bloc, resisted the weaponization of “the virus” into a social-control measure or excuse. Most of them have done OK during the past year of nonsense, “working from home” and getting paid (in effect) more, saving up to 4 hours a day on the commute etc.

The same people also failed to resist the 2010-2019 (in reality, 2007-2019) “austerity” nonsense and cruelties, because they themselves, and their families, were largely exempt.

As I have pointed out before, revolutions may be led or counselled, or later consolidated if successful, by disaffected aristocrats and middle-class intellectuals, but are usually made by the mob. Look at 1789 (French Revolution), 1848 (revolutions across Europe), 1871 (Paris Commune), 1905 (uprising in St. Petersburg), 1917 (first Russian Revolution, then Bolshevik uprising), 1953 (uprising in East Berlin), 1956 (Hungarian Uprising), and so on.

Recognize the source of the lies. As always, mainly the Jew-Zionist element, now embedded in UK politics, civil service, msm, and law.

Fake “history” in the making. cf. “holocaust”…

There are quite a few odd people such as “@drdankeown” on Twitter, people who seem to think that we live in the world of Robin Hood, Cromwell, or King Arthur, a world in which the Monarch exercises real power, rather than simply being a constitutional figurehead with real privilege, something rather different.

Acting as Devil’s Advocate, I suppose that if, in some fantasy scenario, the Queen were to suddenly put herself forward as a kind of crowned dictator, and were to demand that police, Army etc follow her political and immediate direction, the vast majority might comply, in our 2021 UK where the notionally “elected” politicians are almost all fools, incompetents, knaves and/or traitors.

The fact, though, is that the Queen will not put herself up as such a tyrant, and her apparent successors, Charles and William, could never command such support, either among those who have sworn an oath, or the public generally.

Someone needs a history lesson. I dislike having to correct those, with some of whose views I might be in agreement, but tweeter “@TimWhit22501381” is quite wrong in his dates.

Nikolai II or Nicholas II was in fact killed much later, on 17 July 1918. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicholas_II_of_Russia; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicholas_II_of_Russia#Execution.

While I do not dispute the murderous nature of the Bolsheviks, nor necessarily the numbers killed under Bolshevik and Soviet rule (though numbers are always unreliable), the Bolsheviks took power in a coup d’etat about 6 months after the first revolution of 1917.

History is important. Historical facts are important.

It is true that the Afrikaaners were a hard people to like (I met quite a few in 1977, when I was in Rhodesia), but the black Africans are not capable of maintaining a civilized society of the “Western” (i.e. white European-origined) type.

The other parts of black Africa quite quickly reverted to savagery or chaos after colonies became “independent” “states”, and after most white people left. What is in black (sub-Saharan) Africa that is not savage or chaotic is, for the most part, like that because European people keep things going, either because they were born there and stayed, or are operating businesses or farms there, or are working for charities and other NGOs in those countries.

South Africa once had about a quarter of its population white. That declined to about 8.9% by 2011 and will no doubt be far less today. I have heard 6% mooted. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_South_Africa.

South Africa continues to decline, as it must under non-European rule. Slower, true, than has been the case in the rest of black Africa, because the proportion of Europeans is that much higher (Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, never had more than about 5% of its population white, a figure now far less than 1%, in fact around a quarter of one percent).

The South Africans I really cannot bear are the English South Africans, who were always whining about both the Afrikaaners and the blacks, and about apartheid, which had its flaws but also its merits.

Now, in the UK, we see many of those English-speaking South Africans working here (eg as doctors in the NHS). They display no intent to return to work in the fake “rainbow nation” beloved of the international conspiracy, yet pretend to love what South Africa has become, and decry “racism”…

If only the South African whites had voted differently in the early 1990s and had rejected what amounted to the ANC/Mandela takeover. The whites-only referendum was close; it might have gone the other way. Then, with Soviet support (money and arms) for the ANC, SWAPO etc gone, South Africa would have been able to crush rebellion and to survive, reforming itself slowly and intelligently, under white European control.

Yet more propaganda aimed at the destruction of our white European race and culture: the Google graphic for International Women’s Day (today, 8th of March) shows a large brown/black hand grasping an obviously white and obviously female hand (with painted nails). I have no idea what that book may contain, but it may be worth reading. I shall probably read it at some point.

The facemask nonsense is now quite embedded, embedded by a mixture of fear propaganda, legal sanction, and the fact that you cannot even enter a supermarket (in practice) without wearing one, or half-wearing one.

I was at Waitrose a couple of days ago. Rabbits wearing facemasks even in the car park! I even saw one twenty-something jogging in from the street to the Waitrose car park wearing one! Despite the rabbit being that age, and alone in the cold darkness…Truly, those whom the Gods wish to destroy, they first make mad.

The (Belgian) inhabitants of Brussels must be wishing that they were still under the German Reich, for all its unavoidable wartime rigours…

All well and good, but tweeting, blogging, vlogging, and…yes…”proving” things to the malicious and inimical, will not be enough, in the end…

Gunboats should sink these invaders in mid-Channel.

Eventually, not today and not tomorrow, not even in 2022, but in 10-20 years, there will be a war of existential survival: European race, culture, and civilization against, not the non-whites as such, but against the enemies of European race, culture and civilization, whoever they are, wherever they are. Survival of Europe and its future, and extermination of all enemies of civilization and positive upward evolution.

Lammy is a dim creature. Cannot even spell “Caribbean” properly…

Lammy has displayed his ignorance many times: “In 2013, Lammy accused the BBC of making a “silly innuendo about the race” on Twitter during the announcement of the next Pontiff where the BBC tweeted “will smoke be black or white?” in reference to smoke above the Sistine Chapel. Lammy criticised the BBC’s tweet as “crass and unnecessary.” He subsequently apologised after other Twitter users pointed out the role played by black and white smoke in announcing the election of a new Pope.[52][53]” [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Lammy#Comments_attracting_criticism].

Thick as two short planks, ignorant, unpleasant, yet there Lammy (a member of Labour Friends of Israel) sits, a Privy Councillor no less, and Shadow Lord Chancellor, though under Jewish-lobby puppet Keir Starmer, Labour is doing even worse than it was under Corbyn, and seems (so far) to have little or no prospect of actually being able to form a government in or before 2024.

An excellent project. In the 1970s and 1980s, a number of scrapped ships were sunk in a line off the East coast of the USA, for similar reasons.

The book was written by one Henry Hemming, who has, it seems, written other non-fiction works. A youngish man, 40-41 but looking younger in the photo inside the book’s cover; the book’s blurb says almost nothing of him; Wikipedia is also rather unforthcoming [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Hemming].

The Guardian reviewed the book: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2017/jul/20/m-by-henry-hemming-review-mi5.

My view? Well, a good read. Nicely written. Previous books have been written about Maxwell Knight, and I have read one of those, but about 20 years ago. Cannot recall much. This book is probably better, and certainly thicker…

There were a few things not to my liking, and which made me question the author’s grasp. One was a passage dealing with the visit of one of M’s agents to the Berchtesgaden area. The book says that there was “...a view of the Kehlsteinhaus, or Eagle’s Nest, where Hitler liked to spend much time.”

[Kehlsteinhaus, Obersalzberg, 2004]

Well, that is wrong. Hitler did not in fact spend much time there, for one thing. He used it mainly to receive (some) guests, rather than at his house, the Berghof, which was at a lower level on the mountain.

Surely Hemming cannot have confused that “teahouse” with another one, which Hitler used almost daily? “Referred to as the “D-Haus”, short for “Diplomatic Reception House”, the Kehlsteinhaus is often conflated with the teahouse on Mooslahnerkopf Hill near the Berghof,[7] which Hitler walked to daily after lunch.[8] The teahouse was demolished by the Bavarian government after the war, due to its connection to Hitler.” [Wikipedia].

The other point is that the name Kehlsteinhaus is a post-1945 one. The unofficial Third Reich name, the “Eagle’s Nest”, is Adlershorst in German. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kehlsteinhaus.

Still, the book is keeping my attention.

The Labour Party

So much for the “get rid of Corbyn, put in Starmer, and Labour becomes electable” idea…not that I had much time for Corbyn either.

Labour on 36%. Not far ahead of where it was at the 2019 General Election (32.1%). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_United_Kingdom_general_election; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Results_breakdown_of_the_2019_United_Kingdom_general_election

My main view about Labour has not changed, which is that Labour’s problem is not a tactical one (this or that policy, this or that leader) but a strategic one.

Labour was the party of the industrial proletariat, which now scarcely exists. It kept going since, say, 1989 or so, mainly on the idea that Labour was a kind of broad, one-size-fits-all, social-democratic (though not “socialist”) party. Clause 4 (nationalization) was dropped in the 1990s, along with The Red Flag and Labour conference speakers affecting the vocative, “Comrade” (which was pretty silly by then).

One sometimes sees the saying “to be a citizen of the world is to belong nowhere” or some such. Well, Labour in the 1990s and up to 2010 was a party trying to appeal to almost everyone, which in the end meant that it appealed to almost no-one.

An exaggeration, of course. After all, over 32% of those who actually voted still voted Labour in 2019. FPTP voting meant that Labour won rather less than one-third of the seats in the House of Commons.

Labour’s strengths now lie mainly or broadly with what Woodrow Wyatt (in his Diaries) termed “the blacks and browns”, and with the public service workers generally. They, however, are relatively small minorities. Not more than about 25% altogether. In the 2019 election, that 25% was added to by the urban white English young, mainly. The under-25s.

Many msm commentators have noted that, on the arguably outdated “class” basis, Labour now finds its support more in the “middle class(es)” than in the “working class(es)”.

Even accepting that those terms still have some meaning, that can only be a partial explanation. True, I think, as far as it goes, though.

Another factor is that the “proletariat” has been replaced by the “precariat”, people who are in unstable employment or no employment, and who have little on which to fall back if times are hard. The precariat also has only the most rudimentary sense of community compared to the old proletariat.

You only have to look at Labour Party MPs. What are they, mainly? Not people from a conventional “British worker” background; there are hardly any like that. “Professional” politicians with backgrounds in (paid) charity work, NGOs etc; “comms” and public relations types; ex-civil servants and teachers; lawyers; and/or those “blacks and browns” (etc).

The Labour Party MP-cadre is well out of touch with most of the British people (and so British voters).

Nothing startlingly new in what I have said above. Labour MPs themselves have identified their problem, but they are unable to do anything about it without committing political hara-kiri, or cancelling themselves.

As I have blogged before, if Scotland does go “independent”, which is looking ever more likely, then 59 MPs leave the Commons. Only one seat at present is Scottish Labour, but the importance is that, without the SNP MPs (presently 47), Labour would never be able to get a coalition or minority government together, on present showing. As for a majority in the Commons, almost impossible unless —to state the obvious— it were to win a general election victory on the scale of 1945 or 1997. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1945_United_Kingdom_general_election; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1997_United_Kingdom_general_election.

Never has that seemed less likely, unless you include the Michael Foot years.

It may be that a combination of public anger at the Boris-idiot government, together with the increasing numbers of black/brown voters, and also the antipathy of younger voters to the Conservative Party, will put Labour in a more favourable position, but that is a steep hill to climb.

Well, I did much better than John Rentoul in this Saturday’s quiz: he scored 6/10 to my 8/10. I did not know the answers to questions 5 and 6 (and I only got questions 7 and 8 right via educated guesses; but they still count).

A figurehead only. “They” will be telling him what to do and what to say (when he is sufficiently compos mentis to say it).

A reminder of the passing tides of history.
