However rough, and in places savage, was the Hamas attack in October, the Israelis have now killed tens of thousands in what amounts to a quasi-genocidal retaliation. The wounded, many badly wounded (amputations, mutilations etc), must be approaching a hundred thousand in number. Half have been under-18, and a quarter, more or less, small children and babies.

The Jews, not only in Israel, but in the UK, USA, France etc have tried to justify such terrible retaliation as “self-defence” but, certainly after the first few days, that really does not wash.

There is also the point that, if some of the Palestinian Arabs sometimes behave monstrously, it is mainly because they have been made monstrous, over 70-80 years, by the Israelis.

War has, of course, a human cost. Sometimes there is no alternative to war, but often there is.

One sometimes wonders what drives System political drones such as Angela Rayner. Political tribalism, aka Labour right or wrong? Personal (inc. financial) selfishness, or acquisitiveness? Egoism and/or egotism?

Hard for me to understand, because I have always been described by others (not always favourably, though) as an idealist. I suppose that I could have joined, in youth, one of the two main System parties, which might have led eventually to a Parliamentary seat and —who knows?— to a ministerial portfolio, perhaps even to the Cabinet.

I am, however, not a careerist. In the end, ideology, belief, truth matters to me; policy matters to me; results matter to me; beyond that, the well-being of people and animals matters to me.

What incredible impudence! The German Government is going to gift the Kiev regime 80 more tanks, and 450 other armoured vehicles. This is almost direct involvement in the war.

Russia has not, as yet, deployed more than a small fraction of its mighty military-destructive power. The West must back-pedal on the present headlong rush to regional and even world war.

I can only hope that the prevailing winds across the UK continue to blow from west to east…

The inhabitants of Gaza are now worse off than were the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto in the early 1940s. History can certainly take some surprising turns.

Gaza was, after all, the location for the fight between David and Goliath.

One of the most interesting pieces of news I have read recently is that 14% of Israelis with dual nationality have fled the country in the past 3 months. Israel is doomed.

What we, those of us interested in the future of the European peoples, must do is to prepare as best we can for what might well be the situation after the next great war. Preservation of a core of European humanity, and the foundation of a society to provide a basis for a superculture, indeed for successive supercultures of the far future. Interesting but, as the report says, he is in a minority. As for the historical, and nuanced social, views, he may think like that, but he would be wasting his time trying to make some ignorant American-Jew settler from the slums of Brooklyn, who got off the boat yesterday, understand.

The above idiot-tweeter either has not considered the fact that literally hundreds of millions might have (under the present outdated rules) a “well-founded” or “valid” claim to remain in the UK once here… or does not care.

Not hyperbole. Fact. Hundreds of millions. All they have to do is set foot on UK shores.

Surely even tweeters such as the above (who probably thinks himself very clever) might think twice once a hundred million, or more, invade the UK? Or maybe such bien-pensants prefer not to think what kind of UK is already being created by migration-invasion? Or are such people out-and-out traitors, doing —or wanting to have done— more damage than old-style terrorists or spies could ever do?

Incidentally, and ironically, the above-noted tweeter reposted the tweet below, but seems unable to connect the housing crisis with the mass immigration of the past 20+ years. Not the only factor, I concede, but probably the main one.

Satirical singer-songwriter Alison Chabloz tried to make some of those points in a humorous manner (mostly via songs and cartoons) on Twitter several years ago, but “the usual suspects” managed to have her prosecuted and actually convicted for doing so. Just as “Brexit” is more than Brexit, so “Israel” is more than Israel…

The latest “grifter” to have been exposed more widely (he has been mentioned occasionally over the last few years on this blog— “read it here first”…). He thus joins other frauds and thieves such as “Jack Monroe” (Melissa Hadjicostas), “Supertanskiii” (surely the least interesting of the lot, socio-politically— entirely derivative and unoriginal), and others who have found a happy hunting ground or grift-mine on Twitter/X and other online sites.

Ha. Quite.

I had forgotten about “Russ in Cheshire” (who seems in fact to be yet another one actually in or from Essex, unless I am mistaken). Russ-in-Cheshire is on a similar page to the others, but poses mainly as social or political commentator on the fringe of humour, and has written a book about politics or society. He even appeared on at least one TV quiz show (The Chase? Not sure; maybe it was Eggheads, now that I think about it). I think that his team even won some money.

The key to successful UK online “grifting” seems to be to avoid simply begging for money. The more cunning “grifter” pretends to be a kind of charity worker or philanthropic type, raising money for others and giving —what at least is presented as— good advice.

Thus “Bootstrap Cook” and her dog’s dinner “recipes”, “Man Behaving Dadly” and his charity stuff (with rather a lot of the proceeds shaven off for his own shekel-store) and so on. Not forgetting Julia Grace Patterson, with her “NHS champion” grifting, while taking in donations and selling facemasks etc. In her case, the USP is that she is actually a medical doctor (though she only worked as such for a couple of years).

I presume that that other prominent “grifter”, “Supertanskiii”, lacks the ability to produce any tangible output or activity, so restricts herself to swearing at “the Tories”. Amazingly, some people are satisfied with that alone, and are willing to send her money just for that! Utter mugs.

I predict that tactical voting will play a big part in the 2024 General Election. What will weaken it, though, is that it is clear to more and more people that none of those Lib-Lab-Con System parties is worth a plugged nickel.

Also, there are those who will always vote for one System party rather than another, even when, in that particular constituency, the loyal voter’s own party has never come first, or even second.

Still, I think that, now that even former Conservative Party voters want rid of the Con Party in government, tactical voting for the least-objectionable alternative will be widespread.

That may mean, as the tweet implies, that the utterly unmeritorious LibDems may be able to gather in a pretty considerable number of MPs. I was thinking 30, maybe at peak 45, but the tweet above says 70 (they have 15 at present). If so, remarkable, looking at the untrustworthy rabble that the LibDems are.

Again, quite so. The faces will change but not (much) the policies. Like Soviet chocolate boxes (the chocolates in the box usually having had a range of shapes, but the filling identical in all of them).

Her name for this country is right…and becomes more accurate with every passing day.

A “democracy” in which the population is so badly-informed becomes merely a volatile mess and, in the end, a dictatorship. Oh, wait…

In fact, the level of immigration is even higher than Goodwin says, because those leaving the UK are mainly white (i.e. real) British people desperately seeking a haven in, usually, what used to be the White Dominions: Australia, New Zealand, Canada.

What many many people want, often unconsciously, is social-nationalism, but even if aware of their true wish, they are usually too embarrassed to say so.

One wonders how long it will be until the human soldier becomes redundant on the battlefield.

In the past 20 years there has been a farm attack every two days and a murder every five days, with whites of Afrikaans or English descent mainly targeted.

Andrew Kenny, a respected South African commentator, said recently: ‘The ANC has been a disaster, especially for ordinary black people whom it has impoverished while making a tiny ANC elite fabulously rich.

‘After apartheid, our electricity provided the world’s cheapest energy; freight trains carried our ore (from the mines) to the ports; there was a good passenger network for workers. The ANC wrecked it with looting, corruption and a plethora of racist policies.’

The result has been economic collapse and mass exodus. A fifth of whites — both Afrikaans and English speakers — have left since the ANC came to power.

Emigration among the entrepreneurial Indian-descended community is high, too.

Meanwhile, the middle class have abandoned the ANC-controlled cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria in the north — now plagued by no-go areas, ransacked shops, gang warfare and other crime fuelled by unemployment.

They have settled in the Western Cape, the only part of South Africa that is run by the moderate Democratic Alliance.

The speed of the country’s descent has been devastating. Today, only 12 per cent of South Africans of working age pay income tax, while a third survive on £15-a-month state handouts.

World Bank analysts say a staggering 42 per cent of the adult population — the majority black — is unemployed.“

Several points to be made here.

First, Africa without European input descends inevitably to savagery. South Africa took longer than others to fall from being a fairly civilized country because it still had, in the 1990s, a fairly high proportion of European inhabitants. In 1911 it was 22%, and in 1980 still about 16%. That proportion has now dwindled to about 5%. Also, many of the more senior political and administrative positions are now filled, nominally, by blacks, selected purely on racial grounds.

Secondly, the black man was promised the Earth by the ANC and its stupid and/or uneducated leaders, starting with Mandela. The simpler type of South African black obviously believed that, once black “majority rule” (in reality, rule by a few, in a black semi-dictatorship) occurred, the blacks would all have the high standards of living of South African whites of the 1960s, 1970s or 1980s; houses, swimming pools, cars etc. In fact, for a few blacks, the leading ANC politicians, that did happen, but for the other 99.999% or more it did not.

The frustration of the South African blacks will be visited upon, not the ANC, but the remaining white people.

Thirdly, the lack of forethought etc under ANC rule became clear during the most recent drought, though wetter weather eventually saved Cape Town from disaster. That maladministration will eventually be seen in all sectors.

Finally, see how even the Daily Mail scribbler in the full report, one Sue Reid, still repeats the propaganda half-truths or untruths of the dim pro-ANC “British” msm of the 1980s/1990s: “cruel apartheid regime” etc…

The implementation of the Coudenhove-Kalergi Plan (basically, to funnel non-white populations to Europe, in order to create over time a coffee-coloured population to be ruled over by an exploitative stratum, mostly consisting of Jews and part-Jews) is happening in front of our eyes; in plain sight, pretty much.

Naturally, it was tragic that the war or wars of the early/mid 1940s happened. There was right and wrong on both, indeed all, sides. However, that was ~80 years ago, and the Reichstag was destroyed over 78 years ago. There is now no need to trigger another huge war in Europe by arming, and funnelling ammunition and money etc, to the corrupt, brutal, shambolic Kiev regime. Germany should learn the lesson of history here.

In reality, though, whether in TV, on radio, in films, in newspapers, in fact in the msm generally, indeed in UK, US, French (etc) society in general, you can hardly get away from “them”. “They” have certainly not been “erased”, and there is no “erasure” happening, at least that I can see. Au contraire.

Baddiel does not object to Jews or blacks playing non-Jew and non-black roles, including roles of people who actually existed (even Anne Boleyn was played by a black American woman not so long ago, absurdly), but he does object to Jews being played by non-Jews, so long as the said Jews are —rightly or wrongly— considered to be positive characters.

Presumably, Baddiel does not want Jewish theatricals confined to playing Jewish roles.

As a matter of fact, I have never seen the creators of atomic weapons (almost all of which, in the 1940s and 1950s, were Jews) as being very positive, especially in view of the fact that they wanted to use the weapons not only on Japan but also in Europe, and especially on Germany. That was the original target. Thank God Europe dodged at least that bullet.

Atomic science in the 1940s, 1950s was largely, though not entirely, a preserve of Jews, starting of course, with Einstein.

The benefits of [atomic science] in practice are far outweighed by the negative aspects.

Would it not have been better had [atomic science in practice] never existed? Would it not be better if [atomic energy and weapons] did not exist, or were, in the future, somehow eliminated?

Gina Miller now. Farage recently, but before both of them were the Patriotic Alternative people— Mark Collett, Laura Towler, Sam Melia, who all had their personal bank accounts shut down, and not by esoteric banks such as Coutts, but by high street names (I think Barclays, Halifax etc). Incidentally, those three were “cancelled” at least a couple of years ago.

This is all a part of a gradual encroachment— the “Great Reset” of Western society by secretive cabals.

What a massive hypocrite Toby Young is. He never said a word when I was wrongfully and indeed unlawfully disbarred in 2016, or in relation to any of the false and malicious complaints made to Twitter, online fora and even police about me (made, in every single case, by Jews). One of those matters is still ongoing, in fact, I having been (some time ago and quite wrongly) charged under the notorious “bad law” of Communications Act 2003, s.127. That case will not come to trial (if at all) until Autumn 2023.

In fact, that much-abused law (mostly, in the political realm, abused by Jews engaging in “lawfare”) is set to be either repealed, or at any rate superseded, next year. It may well be that I shall be that last person tried under its poorly-drafted provisions.

Reverting to Toby Young’s hypocrisy, he and his so-called “Free Speech Union” also never said a word in defence of others who have been persecuted and/or prosecuted by Jewish interests: Jez Turner, Alison Chabloz, and many others.

One used to see dozens, even hundreds of tweeters naively defending “Jack Monroe” and/or holding her up as a wonderful and principled “activist” etc. No more. The few tweeters defending her are patently almost all “sock accounts” operated, in my opinion, by “Jack Monroe” herself. Often recently set up, often with few or even no Twitter “followers”. She admitted to doing that a decade ago, in fact.

I notice, also, that the large commercial and other organizations that used to cite “Jack Monroe” in tweets and other publicity, now do not. As a public figure, she has almost certainly reached the end of the line.

Still, I would not mind having 397 people (in her case, utter mugs) all sending me money monthly via Patreon, adding up to several thousand pounds each month.

Ha ha. I like the way the policeman fell back into what looks like a paddling pool. Beyond that, it shows how desperate the Kiev regime is getting for more cannon-fodder. The “stout” man looks about 40 years old at least, and markedly overweight.

Thinking about the desperate attempts by the Kiev regime to recruit (press into service) anyone they can leads me on to thoughts of the demographic future of Ukraine.

Even before the war, the population of Ukraine was in decline, mainly because of the past 30+ years of corrupt, shambolic “independence” as well as, pre-“Independence”, decades of Brezhnevite stagnation when Ukraine was a constituent part of the Soviet Union.

Now, huge numbers of, mainly, young and youngish men have been killed, many others badly wounded. Hundreds of thousands in all. Many Ukrainian women, at the same time, have taken the chance to settle in other parts of Europe. Most men are barred from leaving. The birth-rate in Ukraine must already have declined even further. This is a state without a future.

Take away Zelensky’s ricebowl.

The next US election will be crucial.

The city of Southampton has only about 250,000 inhabitants, so it is akin to importing a city the size of Southampton, or larger, every year. I was always struck by how healthy most of those released from German camps looked, as seen in Allied, not in German, films. For example, there are photographs of women released from concentration camps into the custody of the Swedish Red Cross in 1945. They all look healthy, not starved, and in fact quite normal physically.

I blogged years ago about how, when I was at the old Warsaw airport in December 1988 (quite nice— white marble floors and oriental-style carpets in the cafe), waiting for a late flight to London, I got talking to the only other person there, a youngish American (I suspect, Jew) wearing an overcoat and hat (there was snow on the ground outside the terminal). It turned out that he was the Newsweek correspondent for Eastern Europe, which meant everywhere from the West German frontier to the Soviet one, and south/southeast as far as the Black Sea and Adriatic.

That young or youngish person, maybe late twenties, covered the waterfront of Central and Eastern Europe from Bonn, of all places. I quickly established that I, myself only an occasional visitor to places such as Poland, nonetheless knew far more about the situation there than he did, yet his magazine (and so all its readers) relied on him for accurate reportage. Enlightening.

American news magazines are pretty poor; the best was probably the one to which I used to subscribe when in the USA in the early 1990s, U.S. News and World Report. That magazine ceased print publication long ago.

It is not, for me, a question of “hating” non-whites, but of providing a platform for the evolution of consciousness, for the eventual development of what might be called a “super-race”, in the sense of a people whose capacities would be seen by us, today, as “superhuman”.

Extraordinary that someone, one Julia Mark, who works in the “well-being” field, i.e. social aspects of food and drink, more or less, should be unaware that “Bootstrap Cook”, “Jack Monroe”, has been comprehensively exposed and debunked.

Actually, the thing about Twitter is how unrepresentative it is. The majority of the Twitterati over the past decade or so have been saying that Labour would win every UK election (2010, 2015, 2017, 2019), that the British electorate would certainly vote to stay in the EU (Brexit Referendum, 2016), that Trump had no chance in 2016, and that most British people favour mass immigration. Not to mention all the “Covid” “panicdemic”/”scamdemic” nonsense (including the face mask nonsense).

Ukraine

Now we see the same unthinking Twitter reaction re. “Ukraine” (support for the Kiev regime of the Jew Zelensky and his cabal).

I would dare opine that, if Biden can be consigned to history, oblivion, or a care home by 2024/25, the incoming US President, if Republican, will take away Zelensky’s ricebowl. Without US arms, ammunition, and money, the Kiev regime will have to surrender or make peace on Russia’s terms, or fight on briefly with little ammunition and arms resupply.

In short, without U.S. aid, the war will probably almost stop within weeks of the non-resupply, not least because the EU states and others will follow the lead of the USA. Russian forces will then advance almost unopposed to Kiev and across all of Ukraine east of the Dnieper.

The threat of East-West nuclear war will then recede and become again unlikely, as after the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1963 (and the near-accidents of 1983 and —once— in the early 1990s).

I imagine that, if the war finishes, Zelensky will retire to his stolen offshore riches and his USD $40M house in Florida.

I have no idea whether the Republicans will actually win in 2024. I do not know enough about it all, though the demographics seem to be gradually going against the Republicans as the non-white vote increases in proportion. Still, it must be possible for Trump or another to win, and I note many “experts” in polling etc saying that it is now likely. Biden is obviously intermittently demented, and (as I understand it) has not been doing well in the domestic sphere either.

Not that I think that System or semi-System politicians such as Trump and DeSantis are talking about pulling back from support for the Zelensky regime out of pure principle; they just do not want the USA, i.e. the country they and their backers live in and own, to be the subject of a massive Russian nuclear attack. Which might happen, if things keep escalating.

Absolutely right. What I have noticed, over not even the past half-century (I am now 66) but especially the last 10 years, has been how many pseudo-“conservative” TV talking heads etc have signed up to this. Quite a few years ago, the now-defunct BBC TV Daily Politics show had a bearded Austrian “shemale” or drag artiste (not sure which) on the show (I believe it was the Austrian entry for Eurovision that year) and, for days afterwards, all the presenters and guests, led by (of all people) Andrew Neil, were fulsomely praising that person and (by implication) their own, and society’s “tolerant” attitude etc.

Rudolf Steiner never explained in detail what he meant when he said, near the end of his life (d.1925), that the time would come when society would congratulate itself on its goodness and tolerance, but would not see the evil right in front of it. Or words to that effect. I think that we are seeing that now. Learning from quiz shows

I rather like some quiz shows, though most have been hugely dumbed down, presumably to fit the current audience profile. My favourites are or were University Challenge (slightly dumbed-down but mostly still OK, and I shall miss Jeremy Paxman when he goes), Mastermind (now very dumbed-down and with a non-white presenter), Eggheads, and The Chase (despite many of the questions being either absurdly easy or on topics of which I admit I know little, notably popular music, football, and sitcoms).

A couple of shows recently astonished me without surprising me, if you understand me. The first was a Celebrity Mastermind.

It goes without saying that “celebrity” shows are usually replete with the incredibly ignorant (one of the few exceptions being any that feature Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, who is is relatively well-educated), and this show was no exception.

Four contestants, only two of whom were white. The winner was a rather odd Irishman, a stand-up comedian (apparently). As with most of such “celebrity” shows, I had never heard of any of the “celebrities”.

The oddest of the four was a TV and radio presenter (apparently) called Jayne Middlemiss [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jayne_Middlemiss]. Entirely innocent of any general knowledge. Her manner was very peculiar, she wore a strange pink sweater with a large “Communist”(style) 5-pointed red star on it, and I have to say that I wondered whether she might be on drugs of some sort. Either that, or she has a mental or personality problem.

Jayne Middlemiss shared the booby-prize honour of total ignorance with two others, especially one Harpreet Kaur, a winner of the show The Apprentice, fronted by the Jewish businessman Alan Sugar.

As to the winner, the Irish comedian, he was better than the others, yes, but almost all the questions were embarrassingly easy. I may cross Mastermind off my list soon.

The other recent show that left me shaking my head was an episode of Eggheads, which saw a team of British Army officers fail to place correctly both Stockholm (the officer on the spot thought that it was in Denmark) and Bimini (between the Bahamas and Florida, in fact technically part of the Bahamas); I cannot recall where that second Army officer thought Bimini was. Somewhere ridiculous, anyway.

I do not expect military officers, most of them, to be great minds, but surely a knowledge of basic geography would be useful, nicht wahr?

I suppose that there are more important things to worry about in the world, just as there are more important issues than whether a self-important TV football pundit, one Lineker, should be allowed both to “blag” £2M a year from the BBC and, at the same time, make (stupid, ignorant) “refugees welcome” pronouncements on Twitter. Oh well, there it is.

Everyone should watch/listen to that 33-min video.

It will be an academic question if a nuclear war should occur, but the “blame” for any such war will or would not be exclusively on Russia or Putin. It will be also, and indeed more, upon the NWO (the rulers of USA, UK, France etc) and the secret cabals and the ruling circles of the West.

Blame would also fall upon all those stupid idiots in the Western msm who have been cheerleading for war, more war, harsher war, and in favour of the corrupt and shambolic Jew kleptocracy in Kiev. The msm is also reporting only from the “Ukrainian” (Kiev regime) side, and not even trying to ask awkward questions of the Kiev regime (such as about its forces executing some prisoners in the field, or about how others are treated in captivity)

Other persons too are guilty of cheerleading war in Ukraine, and therefore quite possibly across Europe. Talking heads on TV are joined by thousands, even hundreds of thousands, of unthinking Twitter nobodies. All the cretins with Ukrainian flags on their Twitter accounts.

We, as broadly social-national people, should be preparing for after any such war, as far as we can. I wish that I had the means of a Dyson or a Gates; needless to say, I do not. In that event, I could then create the kernel of a new society in some south-western part of the UK, or elsewhere.

As it is, I live only 15-20 miles (nearer 15 as the crow flies) from the port of Southampton, and even nearer to the military port at Hythe, on the Solent in Hampshire; both ports would be major targets.

In other words, even a “limited” NATO-Russia nuclear exchange would probably see the end of me. The only “comfort” (and cold indeed) would be that the “cabal” (((aka “them”))) that would laugh at my demise are mostly (there are a few exceptions) in and around London, so would probably precede or at least accompany me into nuclear annihilation.

“Effect on UK appears limited“? In what world is that? One where people do not get heating and lighting bills, for one thing. Anyway, refer to the Jeffrey Sachs vlog interview above. The UK, small but with many target sites, might simply cease to exist if it were the target of a nuclear attack.

Quite. In fact, the BBC could save itself £100M a year by just sacking 100-200 of its often-useless talking heads and drones.

There are other factors too, as I know, having lived in both NY/NJ and London (though not in the past 25 years). For anyone living in either place for more than a few months, or who has a family in tow, there are the extra costs of American life: medical and dental care (i.e. insurance), and the costs of going to university (for anyone with children of that age).

True, many people in the UK pay privately for medical, dental, and secondary/tertiary education, but in the USA you pretty much have to.

Still, the commentator speaking there is right. London is now “not for white man”, unless wealthy.

If you believe that, you will believe anything, though obviously even the best conspiracy operates through fallible humans. Still, it makes me wonder whether the released WhatsApp messages were released precisely to make people think that only a few mediocre idiots like Matt Hancock were responsible (across the world?). No WEF, no Schwab, no Bill Gates, no “Great Reset” etc. “Nothing to see here“…(really?).

Recently, Laura Towler, her husband Sam Melia, and Mark Collett, all of Patriotic Alternative, have been again barred from Twitter. They also had their personal bank accounts closed down a year or two ago because of their political views. Where was Piers Morgan then (or the dishonest Toby Young “Free Speech Union”, for that matter)?

Well worth a watch/listen.

Endeavour

Watched the last episode of Endeavour, which was pretty good, but again succumbed to the “blacks with everything” nonsense. Numerous blacks (including an officiating Anglican priest, and undertakers looking like Baron Samedi), as well as Chinese and other non-whites. In Oxford, and in what I thought was meant to be mid/late 1960s, but must (?) have been set in the early 1970s, featuring as it did Elton John’s pop song, Rocket Man (released 1972). There just were not very many ethnic minority people around in the Thames Valley in the early 1970s, let alone the mid-1960s.

My wife thought that the clothing worn indicated mid/late 1960s, though, rather than 1972.

Still, I thought it all well put together as a detective story, au fond.

The whole idea that people should pay a compulsory “licence fee” (tax), not even for the BBC as such but for simply owning a TV, is completely unjust and also completely antiquated; I had thought it a hangover from the 1950s or even 1930s, but in fact it was introduced (for radio) in 1923! Here we are, a whole century later, and this nonsense still exists (for TV; the radio version was scrapped around 1980).

What does the BBC offer that is different from, let alone better than, other providers? Most of its drama and other offerings are full of politically-correct and tendentious rubbish, and its news broadcastings are System propaganda as boring as Soviet TV. It pays newsreaders half a million a year, and a loudmouth ignoramus ex-football player (Gary Lineker) as much as two million a year. Why? Why does it do that, and why is the public taxed via this “licence fee” (enforced heavily) for something so poor?

In the past, the BBC might claim, at least with some limited credibility (in the 1960s, 1970s) that it offered an, overall, more elevated cultural level than commercial stations (at the time one a couple existed in the UK, of course). That is now certainly not credible. BBC 2 has been very dumbed down over the years, and the only BBC TV channel on a consistently-high cultural level, BBC Four, is going to be closed within a few years.

The licence fee has to be ended, starting with the criminal-law sanctions. The BBC has to have its rice bowl taken away.

Incidentally, I had a now-deceased friend, the Russian language and literature lecturer and translator, and Dostoyevsky expert, Ig Avsey (a good fellow, about whom I have blogged a couple of times), who had a long-running battle with the TV licensing nuisances.

In fact, Ig was a genuine non-licence-needer, in that he actually did have no TV in his house, though he had one in a garden shed, which TV he used solely to watch obscure Russian films and other material, such as Smoktunovsky’s famous “Gamlet” [Hamlet]. I have no idea why the TV was in the shed and not the house. Ig was a considerable eccentric.

After it was realized that Ig had never had a licence, a long correspondence with the licence-enforcers ensued, which lasted for something like 20 years or longer, but he never paid for a “licence”, and (in law) never had to (as far as I know, that TV was not able to receive broadcasts at all).

This whole nonsense of a “licence fee” is just ludicrously out of date.

Seems to be a trial of strength rather than a fight for somewhere with huge strategic value, unless I have missed something. The Daily Telegraph video shows something closer to the trenches of the First World War than anything else.

The situation in the Bakhmut (former Artyomovsk) area seems unclear. Perhaps the forces of the Kiev regime are fighting there so as not to have to fight for more important places further north or west.

Moldova is not far from being a “failed state” (just like Ukraine).

Ha. Makes me wonder whether the Russian Army should have driven west rather than south…(only joking).

Whatever the rights and wrongs of the current conflict, the fact is that, historically, the Russian people, at their best, have been on a far far higher cultural level than those of Ukraine. You only have to think of the great composers, writers, poets etc.

Neither side in the conflict will negotiate over Crimea, but only fight for it. The population of Crimea is at least 90% Russian, as matters stand.

If Ukrainian (Kiev-regime) forces actually attack Crimea, I think that Kharkov, and possibly Kiev, will face attack on a large scale, and even nuclear annihilation.

I notice that the “Bootstrap Cook” is losing Patreon donors. As of today, “only” 483 sending her between £3.30 and £44 a month, compared to 502 donors (utter mugs) a week ago. If this keeps up, she may eventually have to genuinely live on small amounts of money. Not yet though— 483 donors still means a monthly income, possibly taxfree, of between £1,690 and £21,252 from that source alone.
