Saturday quiz

Well, 8/10 this week, well-beating political journalist John Rentoul, who scored 4/10. I did not know the answers to questions 1 and 9 (though I did see that Danish TV series, some years ago). I more or less guessed the answers to questions 3 and 5 (from the back of my head, somewhere…).

Look what has already happened in France, and in respect of Romania and vis-a-vis Hungary. The EU, as it now is, is a barely-disguised dictatorship, a dictatorial supra-national regime.

For once, I agree with Piers Morgan. I saw a few minutes of that interview. “The Harry formerly known as Prince” is just a ridiculous weasel. Many hold him in contempt, but few if any want to kill him or even assault him. In other words, he is in no significant peril should he wish to visit the UK, with or without Meghan Mulatta and/or their offspring.

The fact is that, without the accident or incident of his birth, Harry would be totally insignificant and would live in utter obscurity. He has nothing of interest to say, nothing at all.

As a matter of fact, he and the Mulatta are said to have hundreds of millions of dollars, so if he wants to employ a bodyguard (or a whole team) when in the UK, he and the Mulatta have the means to do so.

I noticed, for the first time, how very close together are Harry’s eyes; looks like some kind of genetic defect. Very strange. There is evidently something not quite right about Harry, mentally, but I have no view as to whether that has been caused, or triggered, by his marriage to, and apparent subservience to, the Mulatta. Perhaps he was always like that under the surface. The few times I saw him on TV, when he was a young officer or ex-officer, he always looked to be in good spirits, superficially.

His military service seems to have consisted of about 8 years in uniform as a junior officer, including a total of about 6 months deployed in Afghanistan, flying helicopters. He saw action a few times, apparently (that is to say, killing opponents on the ground from his attack helicopter…).

Thinking idly about it, it seems to me that Harry chose the right title for his book of memoirs— Spare. He now has no real function or role in the world. His situation reminds me of that of Vronsky in Anna Karenina, when Vronsky and Anna are in self-chosen exile in Italy, after having left Russia. Homesickness. Frustration. Relationship problems.

Incidentally, it infuriates me (though certainly not enough to want to kill or injure him, or even to —much— criticize him!) that Harry whines constantly about his life, his expenses, his little upsets, and the death of his mother (when he was 12), which last must have been very upsetting but which, after all, took place in 1997, 28 years ago! The man is now 40 years of age!

What I mean is that so many people in this world, indeed in the UK, are poor, suffering in various ways, wishing for a better life and/or a better society, and all this featherbedded nonentity can think about is his own comfort, security etc, and his unmerited wealth.

Never a word about the struggles and problems facing the British people.

In fact, in some ways I have more time for the Mulatta. At least she knows what real life is, having had to struggle, make a living for herself etc. Harry probably finds it a challenge to brush his own teeth.

I just have no time for him.

Lucy Powell [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucy_Powell]— just another System drone who has never had a non-political (System-political) job.

Well, it has taken several years, but at last my prediction of terminal decline for the main System parties is coming to pass, and evidently so.

Late thoughts on the recent by-election and local elections

One thing that struck me, looking at the pro-Labour or anti-Reform Twitterati, is how readily they describe, contemptuously, those who recently voted Reform as being “thick as mince“, “thick gammon racists” (the irony…), or “thick c**ts“, while often posting cartoons or AI-produced pictures of supposed Reform voters (shown as tattooed skinheads drinking cheap canned beer while draped in Union Jack flags, or wearing football-club clothing).

You would imagine that the opposite would be seen as more true, i.e. that repeatedly voting for the same System parties that have been driving the UK into the ground for decades (and especially since about 1989) might be seen as unintelligent or, in a word, stupid.

In fact, it is clear —as said often over the years on the blog— that many self-describing “Left” partisans have no real ideology left, only the wish to censor and attack even mildly nationalist people.

All those pseudo-socialists have left is that wish to “deplatform” others. They have no real ideology or principle left, and their preferred System party, Labour, is quite plainly just one face of a Janus-faced “uniparty”. Where is the real or significant difference between Starmer-stein’s Labour Friends of Israel “Labour” and the “Conservative” Friends of Israel governments of 2010-2024?

Such people seem to think that the voters in places such as Runcorn should be grateful to have a Labour-label government, whatever its policies, and whatever its actions and defects.

People did not, most of them, vote actively for Reform (in terms of ideology or policy), they voted Reform as a way to hit back at both Lab and Con, and as a way of trying to change a political and economic system that is no longer working for them. No social-national party of the slightest significance exists at present; Reform is the next-best option.

I see that, beyond Starmer-stein Labour propaganda trickery, nothing will change in terms of stopping the migration invasion, stopping the migrant-invaders taking over both social and private housing (paid for by the State out of taxation of the British voters); and nothing will improve in any significant way (if at all) for the British people economically.

Reform will rise up from here and, if it then founders, or fails, real social nationalism will then take up the baton. Raise the banners!

  1. Those reactions about Reform UK’s success are typical of Tofu-eating and Starbucks’ Latte-drinking Guardian readers. They were suprised that Brexit happened, were shocked by Trump winning in 2016 and despite the rise of ‘Right-wing populism’ all over the globesince they are still surprised and searching for explanations. Really, they need to get out more! Existing in a cannabis-induced haze is NOT healthy for one’s mental faculties as Singapore’s Central Narcotics Bureau says:

  2. I notice the Guardian used a picture of an AfD supporter who has a very short haircut to illustrate its story about the Federal Constitutional Court’s classification of the party.

Seeing as the party has existed for 12 years now, I am sure Getty Images has tens of thousands of pictures of AfD voters/supporters who are NOT young men with short haircuts they could have used. Many AfD voters are completely normal, everyday sort of people who work in common occupations and do not have short haircuts!

The usual mentally-disordered “antifascist” types and/or Jew-Zionists often refer to social-national people as “thick”, “knuckledraggers” etc. Even I have been so characterized at times. In the past, there were tweets from mentally-unwell old Jew women in Barnet and other parts of North London describing me as “the failed barista” (playing on the words “barista” and “barrister”, of course), and one unpleasant Jew with time on his hands used to call me, habitually, “Dullard”. Well, I know that I am not very dull! I also know that the Jew who used to so describe me is now not only “dull as ditchwater” but “dead as a dodo”…

No, I have never been to Budapest, one of the few cities I should like to visit. My time in Hungary (in 2001) was limited to the south and west of the country, mainly Szeged (on the river Tisza and near the border with Serbia) and then the western end of Lake Balaton.

Those restorations are really amazing. They reminded me of similar restoration I saw in Warsaw in 1988 and 1989, particularly the main old square and nearby cathedral. All but totally destroyed in WW2, but you would never know it, so meticulous has been the restorative work. I think that they had the original town plans and building plans to help them.

    2. Even though our parliament is composed of anti-British, globalist, open borders supporting scumbags in the main and uses a severely out of date and unfit for purpose electoral system (twinned only with Belarus in Europe with regard to that) the building itself is one of the most attractive looking ones in the world.

The Hungarian Parliament building is one of the very few in the world that can compete with it in this respect if not beat it.

  4. Regarding the question No.5, I would say “Saxe-Coburg-Gotha”. Now, the No. 10 is a tricky one. The tiny fish mentioned are known in Argentina as “cornalitos”; they are extremely popular and are cooked as you described; however, they are NOT a dish. Perhaps the quiz refers to other species, although the similarity is amazing.

    1. Claudius:
Well done. The family in question was indeed Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. The no. 10 question is a difficult one for you, because the dish described is often thought of as typically English. However, I have just looked up “Cornalitos fritos”, and the descriptions (and photos) seem identical to the English version: “These fried whitebait are a delicious snack food and commonly found served on the Patagonian beachside.”

The English name is indeed “whitebait” but they can consist of a number of species, not just one:
Here’s a more detailed look at whitebait:
      Definition:
Whitebait refers to the collective term for young fish fry, often between 25 and 50 mm in length.
      Species:
While the exact species can vary depending on location, in the UK, whitebait typically refers to young sprats or herring. In other regions, they may be silversides, anchovies, or sardines.
      Preparation:
Whitebait is commonly prepared by dredging in flour and deep-frying until crispy.
      Eating Whole:
A key feature of whitebait is that they are typically eaten whole, including the head, fins, bones, and innards. This is because they are so small that the bones are easily consumed.
      Taste and Texture:
When fried, whitebait are crispy on the outside and tender to the bite, with a salty taste.
      Nutritional Value:
Being an oily fish, whitebait is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids and contains calcium from the bones, making it a nutritious snack.
      Popular Snack:
Whitebait is a popular snack in the UK, often served with brown bread, butter, and a lemon wedge.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitebait

I often had whitebait for lunch at my former Inn of Court (Lincoln’s Inn) in London, but that was over 30 years ago. That, and a bottle of old cider.

These days, whitebait is not so easy to find in supermarkets; there are concerns about viability etc. Pubs near the sea often have it, though.

      1. Thank you for the detailed information. According to the text, whitebait and cornalitos are the same; the size of whitebait matches exactly that of cornalitos. An article published in Argentina describes cornalitos as a popular snack in Argentina and the South of Brazil.

Talking about fish, there are two species that are tremendously popular in Argentina and, I think, in the UK too. caballa (mackerel) and merluza (hake). My wife loves the former. I remember my mother used to buy merluza/hake and, after passing it through egg and flour, she would fry it. Delicious! 😋😍😋 The funny thing was that, as a side dish, we ALWAYS had mashed potatoes, which, by the way, I loved (particularly if they are very creamy thanks to lots of butter!) 😋😍😋

  5. I notice some SNP types ranting about Reform UK’s electoral performance and using that well known insult about ‘populist Right/nationalist/socially conservative’ folk by describing Reform UK voters as ‘thick gammons’.

Well, I have to say, SNP voters/supporters are probably the most thick people in this country politically-speaking. Just how dim do you have to be to think the SNP is a genuine nationalist party when they have even softer policies on immigration/asylum than Labour does! Dissolving the Scottish nation via mass immigration is ok with the SNP!

The SNP, Plaid Cymru and Sinn Fein are FAKE nationalists par excellence!

Yes, that sort of fake SNP “Scottish nationalism” is a total joke. Those particular Scottish types would never countenance an Englishman or woman as their “national” political leader, but seem perfectly sanguine about Pakistanis heading their “Scottish” political parties, or even the Scottish government! Really absurd.

      1. Indeed. One of the most anmoying aspects of SNP types ranting about genuine nationalist/’Right-wing populist’ tendencies down here is that those SNP people take on an ever so smug air of moral superiorty. Apparently, according to them, we English are guilty of ”xenophobia’/’racism’ yet the Scots have never had similar tendencies. Scotland is on a far higher moral plane than us!

They also rant about the British Empire and its supposed ‘opression’ of natives ect whilst forgetting that Scots were heavily involved with it. Indeed, some historians call it with some justification ‘Scotland’s Empire’.

      1. If I may say so, I think that the problem goes further than England and Scotland. I believe there has been a deliberate plan to dumb down the younger generations by reforming, or even better, corrupting, the educational system. In 1983, there was a drastic change in the Argentinian educational system. You traditionally needed to score a minimum of 6 out of 10 points in every subject to pass to the next level. That was reduced to 4 (below the average and traditionally considered as “poor”).

I have discussed this with an old friend and former schoolmate, and we both noticed a big difference between us and the people under 40. Their vocabulary is fairly poor, and their general knowledge of history and literature (national and international) is awfully low. Most people under 40 are intellectually illiterate thanks to: 1) The extremely poor educational system, 2) Too much TV, and 3) Too many video games.

I am quite sure the same applies to the UK in general.

I should say that that is also right as far as this country is concerned, though I know little of the last-mentioned, i.e. video games. I have never once played one, in fact, except perhaps once (circa 1980 or so, in a pub), which was a game in which you had to rescue hostages and kill terrorists. In my case, I did kill all the terrorists, but also killed almost all the hostages. Plus ca change! Quite topical…
