Historical note

On 20 July 1944, military and civilian backstabbers, with varying motives, attempted to kill Adolf Hitler, and to take up the reins of state in the German Reich.

The plotters varied both in their motives and behaviour, some principled and, at least in their own minds, patriots of a sort, others unprincipled and/or out-and-out traitors. Some exhibited courage, others cowardice.

History is not black and white; it must be open to discussion, dissent, and revision, which is one reason why the quasi-mediaeval laws banning such revision in several EU and other countries (sub nom “holocaust” “denial” laws) are so wrong.

Today is only the 19th of July, but I may not publish a blog post tomorrow; we shall see.

Saturday quiz

Well, this week, a narrow victory over political journalist John Rentoul, who scored 5/10; I scored 6/10, and did not know the answers to questions 1, 3, 5, and 10. Annoying that I got no. 5 wrong, having been there myself a couple of times.

Reform UK people are, inevitably, inexperienced in the procedures of central and local government. Is Rentoul then saying that the fake Labour and fake Conservative parties are so wonderfully efficient etc because of their long experience in government? If so, Rentoul should think again.

A year on, and Sue Gray is entirely forgotten by the public. She has been put back in her box, the lid of the box has been firmly shut, the box has been put on the shelf, and the cupboard door locked. Sic transit gloria mundihttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sue_Gray,_Baroness_Gray_of_Tottenham.

A useless box-ticker and “cover-ass” bureaucrat. Never give power to people of that sort (SIS/MI6 and MI5 please note).

They wanted a “conservative” “diversity hire”, and they got one…

I was just listening to that podcast:

Pathetic, listening to Michael Gove, the former MP and Cabinet minister (Israel puppet, Jewish-lobby puppet, expenses cheat etc) trying to bolster “Carpetbagger Kemi”. Gove is now Editor of the Spectator.

The contribution of Tim Shipman, political journalist, is more interesting, as is that of Luke Tryl, a pollster.

Incidentally, Gove’s choice as Con Party “rising star” is one Katie Lam [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katie_Lam], a Jewish or half-Jewish woman aged 33, who, prior to election as MP in 2024, had been both a Goldman Sachs banker and a public relations person.

Invasion. Migration invasion.

Of course, in Tel Aviv “they” will be laughing. For now…

It must have taught the Iranian authorities a lesson, but not, I think, the lesson that the Americans thought that they were teaching…

One of the biggest problems Australia has always had, especially since the retirement of Sir Robert Menzies [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Menzies] has been the very poor quality of its senior (and other) politicians.

Menzies, above all, supported suitable European immigration to Australia after WW2, but opposed non-European immigration, a wise dual-aspect policy that was changed by and after Gough Whitlam’s government of the 1970s. Disastrous.

Not that, in retrospect, Menzies himself always made the right decisions. Even Menzies made very bad strategic errors, really.

Seems that “the reduction of the Gaza ghetto” is not going so well for the “Israelis”.

Gaza today; Tel Aviv, Ra’anana, and Eilat tomorrow.

So…will the man who was (from what one sees on Twitter/X) run over by a police van, deliberately, be charged with criminal damage to a police van by having been run over?

I recall a prison escape by bank robbers in the 1970s, in Leicestershire. When recaptured, one of the robbers was seen to have had the s**t kicked out of him, his face black and blue. Believe it or not, he was then charged with “criminal damage to a police boot” (using his face or head)! Talk about adding insult to injury.

I have no idea whether that ludicrous charge was later dropped. Maybe. Things like that happened sometimes in the days when the police were the charging authorities, i.e. before the Crown Prosecution Service was invented (1986).

Incidentally, my own (and only) contact with the underwhelming Essex Police was in 2017, when the usual malicious “Campaign Against Antisemitism” Jew-Zionist(s) made a typically false/malicious complaint against me. It went nowhere, of course (though was inconvenient…so the bastards owe me one…not the only one, though).

Talking about the “CAA” swine…

Ha ha! Mark Lewis is basically a fraudster, in lay terms. Negligent. Dishonest. Hopeless.

I had not previously heard of that idiot/lunatic. This is him: “Roca is openly gay, and his parliamentary candidacy was supported by the LGBT+ Labour Chris Smith List.[12]” [Wikipedia].

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Roca

Seems to be half(?)-Argentinian.

May turn out to be a one-term MP; open question. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macclesfield_(UK_Parliament_constituency)#Elections_in_the_2020s.

Iain Dale, another complete puppet of the Israel lobby/Jewish lobby. Quelle surprise— he is one of the System “conservatives” (he was selected as a Con Party candidate in 2024, but chickened-out) who think it OK that the UK is swamped by backward people(s) from all over the world.

Another “conservative” in hock to the Jewish lobby (LBC itself is owned by Jewish interests), who (in his case) lives in a luxury farmhouse in East Anglia, has a comfortable home in London as well, and makes hundreds of thousands of pounds per year. Yes, his own life will not be impacted by the migration invasion. He therefore prefers to be a traitor to the British people and their future.

Dale’s discussion there reminded me of the “Mrs Duffy moment” that sank Gordon Brown at the 2010 General Election. Both Brown and Dale refuse to see what is right in front of all our noses. Who, in that radio discussion, is the “dinosaur“? Dale, I think. Either dinosaur or cliche ostrich, head in the sand.

Does Dale have any idea about what is happening in the country, the UK, on which he purports to comment?

Incidentally, the appalling behaviour of many Afghan men (especially) is not confined to the Taliban; indeed, some of the Taliban are better than some of the others.

Oh…

That last tweet might be a bit challenging for Dale…

Broken Britain

https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/25326157.carer-rachel-goodman-sentenced-weymouth-court-theft/

“THE heartbroken family of a man with Alzheimer’s say they feel ‘betrayed’ after a woman they employed to care for him stole ‘treasured’ and ‘irreplaceable’ items from the family home.

Rachel Goodman, who has a similar previous conviction, was said to have ‘exploited the family’s vulnerability in the most callous way possible’ after she admitted stealing sentimental items.

The defendant avoided immediate jail time when she was sentenced at Weymouth Magistrates Court.

Goodman, 54, was employed by Louise Woollam to care for her husband Richard, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, at their home in Shillingstone, near Blandford.

A court heard how the incident had such an impact on the family that Mr Woollam, a former RAF pilot, had to be placed in a care home.

The court heard Goodman stole items such as a diamond engagement ring which belonged to Mrs Woollam’s mother, earrings brought for Mrs Woollam by her husband, sunglasses, a watch, a snorkel, bedding, a throw, money – and a 250-year-old family heirloom.

Goodman, of Eastland Road, Yeovil, has 13 previous convictions, which includes conning an elderly woman out of £3,500 and for which she received a suspended sentence.

A victim impact statement read out in court by prosecutor, Christina Norgan, on behalf of Mrs Woollam, said: “My trust and security has been completely shattered by Rachel Goodman. Alzheimer’s is a cruel disease which has already taken so much from us.

“She exploited our vulnerability in the most callous way possible. I could not go to work as I could not trust another carer in my home. I feel betrayed and broken-hearted.”

Kenny Sharp, mitigating, said: “Maximum credit for an early guilty plea. This is a person who is struggling to come to terms with the reality of what she did. Immediate custody would have a significant impact on her two children.

The defendant was handed a 12-month custodial sentence suspended for two years. She must also complete 12 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement days and 200 hours of unpaid work.

Israeli-Jew psychopath cowards. Still, “what goes around comes around“. Seems that some never learn.

Even the better section of the Israeli msm admits it.

Those Israeli soldiers are members of the same group that whine constantly about alleged atrocities supposedly committed against their ancestors in the 1930s and 1940s, nearly a century ago (and “they” often make up all sorts of tales to embellish the same).

Literary note

There is a mediaeval legend, called “the legend of Ahasuerus (or Ahasverus)”, about a king who is unable to accept the divinity of Jesus Christ, as a result of which he is condemned to reincarnate always in the same race-type, unable to progress.

Diary Blog, 20 July 2020

Today is 20 July. On the same date, 76 years ago, there was an attempt to assassinate the Chancellor of the German Reich, Adolf Hitler. It failed, but Hitler was wounded, and the remaining months of his life were affected by the physical and psychological effects of that treasonous act and the conspiracy behind it.

I have blogged about these matters in previous years. https://ianrmillard.wordpress.com/2019/07/20/the-20th-of-july-2019-thoughts/ and https://ianrmillard.wordpress.com/2018/07/20/the-20th-of-july/

This tweet, below, is very true:

Those who planned the atrocity at the top level were rewarded by the System not by death but preferment: Martin McGuinness “Deputy First Minister” in Northern Ireland (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_McGuinness); Gerry Adams fairly similarly: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerry_Adams

These terrorists were more welcome at, say, 10 Downing Street, or London television studios, than I would ever be. We really need a (real) purge of the political and, even more important, cultural sectors of our society.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8538465/Hundreds-anti-mask-activists-march-Londons-Hyde-Park-wearing-plague-doctor-costumes.html

“The WHO changed its view on facemasks because it came under political pressure”… [from the broadcast above]

Some good points there. Many employers, in office-based trades, do not actually want their employees to “return”, because they get at least basic output from people working from home. True, and as many have commented, people often work at a lower intensity when they work from home, but in a period of economic slide anyway, that may not be determinative.

Hitchens also makes the good point that, as with the collapse of the Soviet Union, eventually a different future emerges, but only (as he implied) after much pain. He might have added that that future may be, for many, worse than was the past.

They tweet my name in vain

The following is so typical of the nonsense that is, often, Twitter!

Some people are tweeting about “antifa” cheerleader Mike Stuchbery. One, of whom I had never heard, and called @HaydenHewitt, tweets this:

His approbation (of my blog article) brings however this tweet, attacking me, from a “Mr. Nobody”, one Sean Reilly aka @SeanJamesReilly, of (it seems) Melbourne, Australia.

Seems that that silly little man has heard of me, anyway! Ha ha! I notice that, despite the fact that he has only 1,481 Twitter followers, he follows 5,000!

Then soi-disant “film critic”and house-husband Stephen Applebaum, posing as “@Rattus2384”, jumps in.

Applebaum, or “@Rattus2384”, whose other main Twitter account is @grubstreetsteve, was exposed during the Alison Chabloz court hearings as having been one of several sadistic Jew-Zionist trolls from the Jew/Israel lobby “Campaign Against Antisemitism” on Twitter, trolling mainly women opposed to Zionism.

Image

Applebaum has been stalking me and others on Twitter and elsewhere for years (I was expelled from Twitter in 2018 by reason of a concerted attempt by a pack of Jews).

After all, Applebaum has no job or profession (and a working wife), so has time on his hands. (He does very occasionally write about film for the Jewish Chronicle).

It made me laugh to see how even the original tweeter had to agree (not knowing a thing about me) with stalker/obsessive Applebaum and “Mr. Nobody of Melbourne” that I must be a terrible person if I, as they apprehend, dislike Jews, those benefactors of humanity!

Still, I give the above tweeter, Hewitt, a few credits for at least being intellectually honest enough to stick with his original assessment of my article about Stuchbery. Many people like that article: thousands have seen it, including about 100-200 in the past few days.

Oh, dear…

https://medium.com/@melforbes1994/paul-joseph-watson-is-a-sexual-predator-f0916199ece1

It does not surprise me that “Prison Planet” Watson, the best-known of the “Alt-right” wastes of space, is as described in that blog post, assuming it to be a true account.

Effectively free of real ideology, interested in money, a drug abuser, as well as a drunk and (a lesser fault, arguably, but added to the rest…) cynical in his relations with fairly young girls. In addition to which, Watson is unshaven, like a Jew, or an Iranian rabble-rouser.

Of course, to me Watson’s biggest fault is that he cynically kow-tows to the Jews and the Israel lobby, in the hope, perhaps, that they will not gang up on him and take away his rice bowl (his remaining online platforms, which provide his income). He is surely old enough to know that one cannot make a fair or lasting pact with the forces of Evil.

My overarching problem with Watson (and all of the “alt-Right” wastes of space) is that they offer no way forward for the British people, the other European peoples, or the world. All they can do is decry (justly, so be it) mass immigration (aka migration invasion), the Islamists, and cultural decadence (that last, hypocritically, in his and other cases).

The “Alt-Right” is or was a complete dead-end, politically, ideologically. “Prison Planet” Watson personifies the uselessness of that cul-de-sac of politics.

To my mind, someone like “Prison Planet” Watson has a great deal more in common with someone like Tommy Robinson (minus the beer-bottle-throwing followers, perhaps) than with me. At best a distraction; at worst, an enemy of social nationalism.

At least he has one saving grace: he seems to be a cat lover.

Last words for today

Treason is a Matter of Timing

ds5

“Treason is a matter of timing”, Talleyrand is supposed to have said. A remark which perhaps goes down better in some countries than others, though really it has universal application. I suppose that it has two basic elements: treason; timing.

We all think that we know what “treason” means, but in fact there have been various definitions throughout the world and throughout history. We hear, in Robin Hood films and the comments columns of newspapers, the term “high treason”, for example, but outside the ranks of (some) lawyers, linguists and historians, the “high” seems just hyperbole to most people. The meaning, to most, can be said to be “caviar to the general”, above their heads.

In Germany and other Germanophone countries, there were traditionally two types of treason, Landesverrat [“Country Treason”] and the more serious Hochverrat [“High Treason”].

In fact, in the past, the main difference between the two, from the point of view of the captured perpetrator, was that he would be put to death in a somewhat less unpleasant manner for “Landesverrat“! Cold comfort, perhaps.

High Treason was doing such acts as to take over the State, or place the State under the rulership of another state; the lesser kind of treason would be to do acts such as helping the enemies of the State, giving secret information to those enemies, fighting on their side etc.

I suppose that one could, cynically, add the word “attempt” before the above “to take over the State”, inasmuch as a successful attempt to take over a state is not regarded as “treason” by the successful new rulers, and so the State itself, but as merely an incident of history. Only unsuccessful (“high”) traitors are punished; the successful ones punish others…

Other countries have other definitions of treason.

The British law of treason is entirely statutory and has been so since the Treason Act 1351 (25 Edw. 3 St. 5 c. 2). The Act is written in Norman French, but is more commonly cited in its English translation.

The Treason Act 1351 has since been amended several times, and currently provides for four categories of treasonable offences, namely:

  • “when a man doth compass or imagine the death of our lord the King, or of our lady his Queen or of their eldest son and heir”;
  • “if a man do violate the King’s companion, or the King’s eldest daughter unmarried, or the wife of the King’s eldest son and heir”;[28][29]
  • “if a man do levy war against our lord the King in his realm, or be adherent to the King’s enemies in his realm, giving to them aid and comfort in the realm, or elsewhere”; and
  • “if a man slea the chancellor, treasurer, or the King’s justices of the one bench or the other, justices in eyre, or justices of assise, and all other justices assigned to hear and determine, being in their places, doing their offices”.

Another Act, the Treason Act 1702 (1 Anne stat. 2 c. 21), provides for a fifth category of treason, namely:

  • “if any person or persons … shall endeavour to deprive or hinder any person who shall be the next in succession to the crown … from succeeding after the decease of her Majesty (whom God long preserve) to the imperial crown of this realm and the dominions and territories thereunto belonging”.

[Wikipedia]

These “heads of treason” are now largely of historical interest, and the acts commonly charged via other laws, but it will be recalled that, after the 1994 book, Princess in Love, by the Jewess Anna Pasternak, about the affair between Princess Diana and the (by then, ex-) Guards officer James Hewitt, was published, an enterprising reporter from the Sun “newspaper” tried to make a citizen’s arrest of Hewitt for treason, for “violating the wife of the King’s eldest son and heir”! That would have made for an interesting incident, but Hewitt kept his front door firmly shut.

Treason. Were the officers involved in the 20 July 1944 plot to kill Hitler “traitors”? Hitler thought so! German law (as it was in 1944) also said yes. In fact, I am not convinced that German law as it now is would acquit the plotters (though I concede that my knowledge of German law is at best fragmentary). I blogged once or twice about those events:

https://ianrmillard.wordpress.com/2019/07/20/the-20th-of-july-2019-thoughts/

https://ianrmillard.wordpress.com/2018/07/20/the-20th-of-july/

These matters have been discussed more in Germany and France than they have in the UK. Nuances of loyalty have been tested more on the European mainland. The events around the Reich and the Second World War led to shades of meaning not always understood in the UK. In France during WW2, there was a spectrum of loyalties ranging from monarchist (!) and extreme conservative, through Gaullist and moderate conservative, to social democrat, to socialist, to Communist (pro-Stalin) and Trotskyist. Not all were hostile to Vichy and/or Germany. To give just one example, Francois Mitterand was supposedly both a “resistantand part of the Vichy government, peripherally.

Some Frenchmen were not only pro-Vichy but pro-National Socialist. A relative few, perhaps 11,000, volunteered for SS Charlemagne:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/33rd_Waffen_Grenadier_Division_of_the_SS_Charlemagne_(1st_French)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_de_la_Mazi%C3%A8re

Honourable pro-German Frenchmen such as Christian de la Maziere were not, in their own eyes, “traitors”, any more than were, in their own eyes, German officers such as von Stauffenberg.

Of course, the masses like simplicity. In the UK, they were told that Mosley was a traitor (though of course never tried as such), and I suppose that a number of simple people still believe what they have heard based on that wartime propaganda.

Take another case: “George Blake” (born Behar, a half-Jew). Traitor? Many would say so, on the basis that he was in British service and even had a British passport:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Blake

Blake himself would say not a traitor, his allegiance being to the Communist ideal.

https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2017/dec/08/cell-mates-a-good-traitor-the-extraordinary-life-of-george-blake-the-spy-who-went-into-the-cold

These nuances seem rather un-British, but they would not perplex the spymasters of the 16th Century, such as Walsingham, used as he and his opponents were to ideological allegiance crossing national or state lines; in that era, allegiance based, usually, on religion.

What about timing? Well, of course, sometimes timing, as Talleyrand expresses, is what makes treason, treason. The officers who plotted against Hitler and survived became acceptable in postwar West Germany.

Timing is important in so many things. I was rereading a book I had not seen for about 25 years, In the Gunsight of the KGB. A quite compelling story of how a professor of Marxism-Leninism, Ushakov, was arrested for anti-Soviet agitation (being a dissident), released by administrative error, then fled to avoid re-arrest and certain long imprisonment. The half of the book that deals with his flight and then escape across the heavily-guarded Soviet-Turkish border is a good read; the rest, which deals with his views about Sovietism and upcoming events, is rather poor.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gunsight-KGB-Alexander-Ushakov/dp/0394562844

Timing is especially instructive here: Ushakov fled in 1984, if memory serves. Now, today, we know that had he avoided arrest in some lawful way, he would have been able to travel freely in about 7 years. Had he been imprisoned, he would have been released by the late 1980s if not before. He, however, did not know that!

How could he have guessed that the whole Soviet system (which he still fears in his book, regarding it as almost all-powerful and able to hoodwink the West easily: the Golitsyn syndrome) would crash to nothing after 1989, the State itself being dissolved by 1991?

In fact, Ushakov was unlucky also in that his book came out in August 1989, only a couple of months before the collapse of the Berlin Wall, followed by that of socialism across Eastern and Central Europe and then in the Soviet Union itself. Ushakov’s book was therefore obsolescent by the time it hit the bookshelves (though the adventurous first half is still, even today, of interest). Ushakov therefore fell into obscurity, whereas he might well otherwise have followed, in a minor way, in the footsteps of more famous dissidents, escapees and defectors, such as Bukovsky.

We all stand within the bounds of time and space. At present, our world seems almost immutable, but beware the hubris of thinking that our Western society will continue forever (“The End of History” fallacy). In fact, I should say that there is every chance that the world we know will not be around in its present form for much longer.

Forget treason. Concentrate on timing.
