Dr Zitelmann is one of thousands of Germans who have been threatened with fines or prison sentences for social media posts that fall foul of the country’s political speech laws, which are unusually stringent for an EU member state.
Some of the cases are sinister and farcical in equal measure.
One German had his home raided for calling a minister a “Schwachkopf [dummy]” while another was fined €2,000 (£1,700) for calling Friedrich Merz a “lying Fritz” under a law that, critics claim, makes it effectively illegal to make fun of politicians.
The furore bears some similarities to the free speech debate in Britain, where citizens have had a knock on the door from police over opinions posted online.
To its supporters, the AfD is only the party that speaks for Germans who are sick of mass migration, political correctness, economic stagnation and the creep of so-called wokeism.
But to its opponents, including many in the government, civil service and intelligence services, the party is a far-Right menace that was recently classified as an extremist group by the country’s equivalent of MI5.
The BfV has been monitoring senior AfD figures through methods such as wiretapping and informants for at least five years.“

Were I to go to Liberia, or Sierra Leone, would I be able to become an MP and/or Cabinet minister? No. So why do we allow Africans to come here and do so? It is a symptom of a terminal sickness in the body politic.
As Hitler said of the 1920s Weimar Germany equivalents, “...dirty democratic politicians“, and I do not think that this lot are even “democratic”.

Perhaps. The problem is that one cannot believe a word “they” say, especially now that they want the USA to escalate the war against Iran.
Zelensky’s regime is a dictatorship composed of Jews, Ukrainian thugs and, below that level, persons of doubtful provenance such as that terrorist woman.

Ha. Made me laugh, mainly because it comes close to my own attitude…
(((Typical))) of the decadence which “they” import into both the cultural and political areas of national life (in this case, in Ukraine, but one could point to similar decadence in the UK, USA, France etc).
