Neil Oliver

I noticed that a Twitter lynch-mob has been attacking dissident broadcaster Neil Oliver over the past day or two after he had a dialogue with a doctor who disagreed with him on one or two issues. The Twitter mob have been trashing Oliver not only about the medical questions which were the subject of the show (on, apparently, GB News) but also Oliver’s whole past history, his TV shows on archaeology, his views in general, the way he looks, speaks etc.

Many of the Twitter mob claimed (and at time of writing, are still claiming) that the doctor in question completely defeated Oliver. Also, that Oliver (and MP Andrew Bridgen) had no right to speak because said doctor is a doctor, and so of course (?) knew more than they do.

Well, is that last so? I did not watch the discussion (in fact I have never seen GB News and am unsure whether my TV can even receive its broadcasts) but the said doctor is, as I understand it, an ordinary GP, not a specialist in vaccines or, indeed, viruses.

What interests me is how there is this superficially huge number of persons on Twitter (though probably not even a tenth of 1% of the general population) who are willing to join in with others of their sort to create a Twitterstorm which, in terms of real effects in the real world, makes not a ripple in society or the body politic.

The sheer hatred of their vituperative tweets is incredible. These are, more or less, the “anti-racists”, and/or those who mostly believe every last (and latest, and unexamined) detail of the Jew-Zionist so-called “holocaust” farrago, and who “support” (by having little Ukrainian flags on their Twitter profile) “Ukraine” (the regime in Kiev). Most probably support such as the “Black Lives Matter” nonsense, no doubt echo “refugees welcome” slogans (and so what if most of the migrant invaders are in reality not “refugees”), and prefer not to think of the impact of the invading hordes on British health services, housing, social cohesion, crime and, down the line, pay and conditions of employment. Oh, no, that’s for “the Government” to worry about.

I would be prepared to bet that pretty much the same bloc of Twitter posters support the “trans” nonsense, are “anti-Tory” (while —most of them— somehow believing that Labour-label under Jewish-lobby puppet Starmer will be far better), and that almost all of them will identify with Remain/Rejoin and, of course, “FBPE”.

The Twit-mob lynch-mob of today is a contemporary version of the Stalinist or Orwellian “daily hate”. Examples seen today on Twitter:

Work in a charity bookshop and it’s very noticeable that we can’t give Neil Oliver history books away. They used to be steady sellers. Same for Starkey and Johnson. History book buyers avoiding like the plague and GBNews viewers can’t read.

If there was ever going to be a Scottish UnaBomber it would be Neil Oliver.

Neil Oliver was always a biased clown, even on his “history” programs – now he’s just plain lost his mind.

“No need to present evidence to dismiss the crazy claims of Neil Oliver and fellow loonies.”

There are hundreds of tweets like that, all from people who think that they know things, and they think that they “know” purely because they believe, by default, various System and msm sources.

They cannot bear even seeing a dissident opinion.

Opinion polls in the UK seem to be showing that censorship, “no-platforming”, “cancelling” etc are becoming more popular, especially among the young.

As far as I am concerned, if people are becoming more and more like easily-corralled sheep, then such people are not worth having in our society, and read that how you like.

Is that true, or just jingoistic hot air? I have no idea.

I am unsure at present whether there are being concentrated Russian forces in Belarus with the aim of launching an offensive south, toward Kiev, or whether those forces are there to keep Kiev-regime forces tied down on or near the Ukraine-Belarus border, so as to prevent the deployment of the Kiev-regime forces to the southeast regions, notably Donetsk and Lugansk, where most of the active combat is happening.

Russia is obviously not short of trucks, which is interesting.

Another Kiev-regime press-gang. They have few volunteers now, and are running out of cannon-fodder.

Britain should be politely distant with China, friendly with Russia, and hostile only to (((you know who))) and other untermenschen…

There is no “after this conflict“. Either Russia effectively “wins” the conflict (whether by negotiation or in the field), or the whole thing turns into a general Eastern European and Central European war between Russia and NATO, which might or might not go nuclear.

Whatever or whichever, there will be few more UK troops in Ukraine. In any case, the British Army is almost non-existent now in terms of major field presence. Take away the office bods, clerks, rear-echelon elements, and the whole brass-hat staff officer element (etc, meaning all non-combatant units), and I doubt that the UK could field, overseas, more than about 20,000 active troops, at most.

Who cares what Ben Wallace says, anyway? His military service consisted of 7 years in the Scots Guards (1991-1998), during which he attained the modest rank of captain. His subsequent pronouncements have been mostly idiotic. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Wallace_(politician).

Incidentally, we need not take his decision to stand down as MP at the next general election (presumably in 2024) as having been prompted by anything based on principle.

Wallace’s Commons seat, Wyre and Preston North, is set to be abolished via boundary changes, so were Wallace to wish to stay in the Commons, he would have to find another seat quite soon, almost impossible in view of the expected Conservative Party mass wipeout at the (2024?) general election.

I suppose that Wallace will now be looking for some well-paid business sinecure, combined with a nice £350-taxfree-per-day House of Lords peerage in Sunak’s resignation honours list.

That’s 282 mph…

The Zelensky cabal counting their chickens before they are hatched.

No reaction so far from the usual Western “human rights” parasites about the plan to expel 800,000 Russians from their homes in Crimea, something akin to the deportations carried out by Stalin or (to a far lesser extent) Hitler.

In fact, the Kiev regime is engaged in “pie-in-the-sky” politics. Putin and the Russian Government (and people) will never allow the Kiev regime to annex Crimea again. If there were any real danger of that, the Russian forces would use tactical nuclear weapons on the battlefield and, if that were not enough to stop any annexation, a strategic nuclear missile or two on Kiev itself. In that event, “goodbye Zelensky” or at least his corrupt and brutal government.

A Spy Among Friends

Watched about 10 mins of the new TV spy drama, A Spy Among Friends. Had I known that it was about Philby, I should probably not have bothered. I do not have a lot of time for the so-called “master spy” whose reputation was and still is the most inflated since Mata Hari. No need to go into all that now, though.

I am rather impatient with films and TV dramas. If they bore or irritate me in the first 10-15 mins, I rarely watch on. In this case, there were invented scenes, which may have been inevitable, but some of them lacked any credibility. For example, there was a West Indian involved in the first few minutes, highly unlikely in 1963. Also, the show pushed, in those opening minutes, the buttons of all the known cliches about Philby— cricket, booze, womanizing etc.

It is true that Philby, had he become Chief of SIS, would have been a “master spy” or “legendary agent” (“legendary” in more ways than one). Not because (or primarily because) he would have been able to give the KGB secrets at all levels, but mainly because he would have been in a position to cripple SIS strategically, structurally; even more important, he would also have been in a position to deliberately mis-advise the Prime Minister and other ministers, and to point them in the wrong direction strategically.

It never happened. Philby was found by General Kalugin to be living in a permanently intoxicated state in his apartment in Gorky Street (now once again Tverskaya Street). Kalugin, and Philby’s last wife, Rufina, sobered him up somewhat, and Kalugin gave him mentoring work to do.

I myself was slightly acquainted in the early 1990s with a former KGB officer (turned businessman) called “Ed” (Edvard, from the Baltic regions or pribaltika), who told me at lunch in Hall at Lincoln’s Inn in 1994 (I think) that he had once heard a lecture by Philby at the Lubyanka. That lecture must have been late 1970s, or maybe early 1980s.

Though Philby claimed publicly in January 1988 that he did not regret his decisions and that he missed nothing about England except some friends, Colman’s mustard and Lea & PerrinsWorcestershire sauce,[84] his wife Rufina Ivanovna Pukhova later described Philby as “disappointed in many ways” by what he found in Moscow. “He saw people suffering too much,” but he consoled himself by arguing that “the ideals were right but the way they were carried out was wrong. The fault lay with the people in charge.”[85] Pukhova said, “he was struck by disappointment, brought to tears. He said, ‘Why do old people live so badly here? After all, they won the war.'”[86] Philby drank heavily and suffered from loneliness and depression; according to Rufina, he had attempted suicide by slashing his wrists some time in the 1960s.”

[Wikipedia]

Assuming that the above is accurate, Philby’s only very superficial understanding of politics, geopolitics, history, and economics is almost too obvious.

Even were A Spy Among Friends better than my first impressions, I would probably not bother with it, because at root, Philby just does not much interest me.

From the newspapers

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-12297233/PROFESSOR-FRANK-FUREDI-contempt-unelected-buffoons-House-Lords.html

As a child aged just nine, I endured the longest and most terrifying night of my life, fleeing with my family from our home.

Nearly 70 years later, every detail of that escape is still burned into my memory. All my life I have had the deepest sympathy for fellow refugees: those who leave behind everything they own and everyone they know to reach safety.

It was at the beginning of winter in 1956 that the Furedi family fled Hungary. My father was one of the leaders of the workers’ councils in Budapest organising resistance to Soviet Union control. That culminated in an uprising, which was mercilessly crushed by Red Army tanks and troops.

Many of these peers inhabit a fantasy world. The soaring numbers of illegal migrants entering Britain don’t lose them any sleep at night. In their ermined world, any attempt to find a practical solution to the problem is dismissed as ‘isolationist’, ‘morally unacceptable’ and ‘impractical’.

The BBC is equally detached from reality.

As a university sociologist, listening to the whining in the Lords, I cannot help but draw the conclusion that the very existence of this narcissistic, unelected, unaccountable chamber is a political corruption of democracy.

[Daily Mail]

Completely correct.

One of the worst abusers of the House of Lords system is “Lord” Alf Dubs, a half-Jew whose (Jewish) father fled from Prague in 1938, leaving behind his (Austrian) wife and his son (they arrived in London a year later).

Alf Dubs, Labour MP for 8 years before later joining the misnamed “Lords”, was (maybe still is) a cheeky freeloader and expenses cheat (by any other name):

Dubs lists his main home as a cottage in the Lake District in Cumbria, which enabled him to claim over £26,000 of overnight subsistence expenses in 2007–08,[15][16] although he has lived in Notting Hill, London, since 1964. In May 2009, he argued in justification that Lords regard the overnight allowance as a payment in lieu of salary. “We are the only legislators in the world that don’t get paid,” he said. “The overnight thing is quite generous because it compensates for not having a salary. In practice that’s how it works.

[Wikipedia]

That was 15+ years ago. I wonder how much the old fraud drags down these days while trying to import as many migrant-invaders as possible to batten upon the British people who, generously but wrongheadedly, gave him and his parents refuge in 1938 and 1939?

A straw in the wind. London is now not worth living in, even for those with great wealth.

https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/23654056.world-war-two-veteran-made-homeless-eviction/

A 98-YEAR-OLD war veteran who is battling cancer has been evicted from his bungalow and is now homeless.

Alfred Guenigault, who served in World War Two as a paratrooper, was issued with a no-fault eviction notice two months ago by the landlord of the Ferndown bungalow he has lived in for the past seven years.

He is now living in St Gabriels hostel in Verwood with his daughter Deb Dean and her husband Bert and says he feels “terrible” about the situation..

The great-grandfather-of-six-fears he will not be able to see his grandchildren from his new residence.

The family was forced to pack up their belongings and leave Ferndown on Thursday afternoon.

They turned to the council for help, which told them to go to First Point, a Dorset-based support service.

Deb said: “They were amazing and helped us so much with the forms and explaining things and told us we were eligible for a bungalow.

“They said there is a duty to house us temporarily, which we understand, but we didn’t think it would be in a hostel.”

Deb said the one room provided for them is empty, with no beds, apart from one provided by the hospital for the veteran, and has a shared kitchen and bathroom.

He also won’t be able to see any of his church friends who come over to see him or the vicar as well; his life is here in Ferndown.

Deb, a pensioner herself, lives with her father as his full-time carer while he battles cancer and severe kidney disease and said the situation is “very unfair” on her dad in his final years.

She added: “Dad has his carers in three to four times a day and I have to be with him 24 hours a day but because I recently became a pensioner, they have stopped my carer’s allowance which is about £700.

We are told we will be in a hostel for six to eight months and it’s very unfair on him.

My concern is that in six months, he may not even be here anymore.”

Mr Guenigault, who has been awarded the National Order of the Legion of Honour by the French government, said: “None of my grandchildren will be able to stay in the hostel. I feel terrible, but mostly for Deb.

I also have to change my doctor, who is brilliant, as it is outside the area, but I don’t want to do that.”

A spokesman for Dorset Council said the authority will work with the family to find suitable accommodation in “as short a timescale as possible” but that they “need to be realistic about what is achievable in the current climate”.

“The council takes the Military Covenant very seriously and has a former veteran working within the team so really do appreciate the sacrifice our veterans make.”

[Bournemouth Echo].

Britain 2023…

Several points come to mind.

First of all, the sheer injustice of the whole “no fault eviction” laws. I know that such “no-fault evictions” are going to be banned [see https://www.blandy.co.uk/about/news-and-insights/insights/the-end-of-no-fault-evictions-what-does-this-mean-for-landlords-and-tenants] but that new law has yet to be passed.

Secondly, that landlord (a buy-to-let parasite?) is a prime subject for “naming and shaming”, if there ever was one.

Thirdly, how unjust that the old man’s daughter is now deprived of her Carer’s Allowance just because she has now become eligible for a slightly higher weekly amount by way of State Pension.

Fourthly, there would at least be decent alternative accommodation available for people like this were Britain not flooded with millions of black and brown migrant-invaders and other immigrants (“other” including about 150,000 bloody Ukrainians alone since last year).

Lastly, note the meaningless weaselling by the local council about the “Military Covenant” brought in by the government of David Cameron-Levita. Just lip-service. Useless.

At some point, Britain will explode, one way or another. This whole situation is unsustainable, and insupportable.

A final thought on this: is there no ex-members’ welfare organization attached to the Parachute Regiment that might help?

Of the well-known charities, Cats Protection is a good one, usually (the local branches are run semi-autonomously, I believe). The Cats Protection branch near Exeter was, probably still is, very good.

Watched a couple of episodes of the detective series, Vera. As previously, very well put together, but why oh why is every second major character a black? In the North East of England, where there are relatively few non-whites. This “blacks with everything” agenda is now more than tiresome.

Diary Blog, 11 July 2023, with thoughts around the “BBC presenter” storm in a teacup

Thought for the Day

I see that the “BBC presenter” story is still rolling. A couple of things strike me about the story and also about the reaction to it.

Firstly, the sheer hysteria. It seems that the girl involved was 17 at the time, assuming that there is any substance to the story. It is one of the oddities of the English law at present (as I understand it— I admit to being not very au fait with it now, having not practised at the Bar since 2008) that the unnamed BBC presenter could actually have had full sexual relations with the girl (or any girl of 17, or indeed 16) without being in peril of the law, yet if he paid for nude photographs of her (even though she may have taken them herself, and willingly) he might actually be at risk of imprisonment: see https://www.theguardian.com/media/2023/jul/09/bbc-presenter-accused-of-paying-teenager-for-photos-could-face-jail-term-if-guilty.

To my mind, this makes a mockery of the law. The “photographs” law should surely be in line with the law on sexual relations, and so the age reduced to 16 years.

I am unsure about whether a “photographs” law of that kind was or is necessary at all, or if it is, whether the relevant age should be 16 or lower, as with some provisions of, eg, the Offences Against the Person Act 1861 and the Sexual Offences Act 1956.

The Protection of Children Act 1978, the present “photographs” law, does not (as far as I know) specify an age, but refers only to “children“.

This was never the kind of law I did when at the Bar, so I may be out of my depth on the detail here but, to my mind, that 1978 “photographs” law (which I have never read in full) seems to be on the face of it yet another badly-drafted law of the past half-century. There are several others, including the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and the Communications Act 2003, s. 127. Both of those have been superseded or are about to be superseded by newer laws.

I find it strange that the 1978 “photographs” law was thought to be necessary at all. It was brought in 20 years before the Internet was widely available for public use and, after all, photography itself has been around for about 200 years if you include its earlier modern manifestations such as the daguerrotype. Photographs as such have certainly existed since the 1860s, yet only in 1978 did Parliament consider that such a penal law was desirable, or at all necessary. Very odd.

Leaving all that aside, there seems to be a strange dissonance now— UK and general Western society almost eliminating real childhood and/or childhood “innocence”, and yet going mad if someone, especially anyone famous (such as George Osborne), has sexual relations, even if completely lawfully (in Osborne’s case, that is disputed), with a teenage girl of 16 or 17, or if such a person (as alleged of the unnamed BBC presenter) pays a girl of 16 or 17 for some risque photographs.

Well, there it is. To my mind, this “BBC presenter” story is a bit of a storm in a teacup anyway, looking at the challenges our country and society face at present. There are bigger issues.

The other aspect which I find striking about the “BBC presenter” story is that the unnamed defaulter has such a high level of income that he can, and apparently is willing to, pay out £35,000 for photographs of some girl.

The BBC gets almost all of its money from the outdated tax misleadingly called a “licence fee”. Radio licences, dog licences etc have passed into history, but the BBC licence fee marches on. Not only that, but enforced by criminal sanction. There are many people (mostly women) actually in prison because of having not had a TV licence, and then unable or unwilling to comply with the order of a court: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/tv-licence-fee-women-convictions-b1763192.html.

Out of the huge revenues thus raised, the BBC pays its staff well, often very well, and in some cases far too well. Gary Lineker, that loudmouth ignoramus, is paid a million a year to shoot the breeze about football. Alan Shearer, another ex-footballer, gets about half a million. Zoe Ball apparently gets about a million. A number are getting around £400,000. Looking at them, most are, frankly, overpaid.

Why should the public subsidize what is increasingly, “Soviet” TV and radio output, largely unwatchable and unlistenable?

My final thought about this nonsense is that George Osborne must be loving it. The notorious email about his own peccadilloes is now already all but forgotten. I suppose, though, that despite his former, though fairly brief, political prominence, Osborne is now yesterday’s news…just not very interesting to most people.

From the newspapers

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2023/jul/11/900000-older-people-ae-lack-of-nhs-care-at-home

It’s deeply worrying that many older people are ending up in hospital due to lack of the right sort of services in the community. No one wants to be in hospital but for older people all too often it can lead to an avoidable deterioration in their health,” said Caroline Abrahams, Age UK’s charity director.

Prof Adam Gordon, the president of the British Geriatrics Society, said the report “makes grim reading [and] rightly identifies that older people are currently being let down by NHS and social care services”.”

[The Guardian]

This has been a scandal (and a massive waste of money) for years, certainly since 2010 and probably long before. No care at home means more demand at hospitals. District nurses were once ubiquitous; now they seem hardly to exist at all. I was told by one, a decade ago, that she was fed up with NHS mismanagement, and so was emigrating to Australia, where she would also be paid far more.

As with so many areas of life in England, Government and Opposition talk a good game, but fail to deliver for the people.

Statement

Readers of this blog who spend time on Twitter may have noticed comment triggered by the tweet below, tweeted recently by the small but well-funded (and malicious) Jew-Zionist org known as the “Campaign Against Antisemitism” or “CAA”:

In fact, that report is not entirely accurate.

I was intending not to blog at all about the above-misdescribed matter.

For one thing, the whole thing is an absurd abuse of the law, and I was intending to simply ignore it, so far as the blog is concerned.

Secondly, though the matter is in the magistrates’ court, and so involves no jury (and is under the conduct of a single District Judge), I am very aware of the need to avoid publishing anything which might be taken to be a contempt of court.

Having said that (and contrary to what can already be found, misleadingly, on Twitter), I can say, for the record:

  • that I am presently charged with five counts under the Communications Act 2003, s.127, i.e. it is alleged that 5 of the (so far) over 1,500 blog posts published on this website contained material that was “grossly offensive“;
  • that the allegations relate to five alleged blog posts dating from 2021 and 2022;
  • that the complainant is, nominally, expressed as “The State“, i.e. not the “Campaign Against Antisemitism”, nor any individual;
  • that I have not been, at any time, actually arrested in relation to the present matter (a couple of Jews on Twitter have tweeted, falsely, that I was arrested); nor was I ever under arrest in relation to the equally-malicious and false claims made against me by the “CAA” (and/or its poundland inquisitors) in previous years, notably in 2017 and 2021;
  • that in fact, and in relation to the present matter, I was simply summonsed by post, a couple of months ago, to appear at the magistrates’ court at Southampton on 23 May 2023;
  • that I did appear on 23 May 2023, for half an hour;
  • that I have pleaded Not Guilty to all charges;
  • that, in relation to the present matter, I have never been interviewed by the police; in fact the police did not speak to me at all about the allegations wherewith I am now charged;
  • that any trial of the matter (if there is a trial at all in the end) will not take place until much later in the year, possibly November or December 2023, or even later, on some date in 2024; the learned District Judge has not yet made any order as to date of trial;
  • that the present matter, depending on whether a trial actually takes place at all, and on whether at any such trial I am found guilty on any or all charges, and on whether (if found guilty on any of the charges), I then choose to appeal any conviction and/or sentence, may only determine in 2024, or even 2025;
  • that there will be one or more preliminary (procedural) hearings;
  • that, in the meantime, I remain (since 23 May 2023) on unconditional bail; and
  • that this blog will continue to be published both before and after any such trial.

I regret that, for reasons to do with avoidance of any contempt of court, I cannot at present go into detail about a number of related facts which I daresay the readers of this blog would find interesting.

Eventually, meaning after the final determination of this legal case, I shall blog about it all.

In the meantime, I doubt whether I shall blog further about the matter at all, not until after any trial.

Finally, I have to say that that “CAA” website report itself does seem to come close to the line on contempt: see https://www.gov.uk/contempt-of-court, and some tweets by Jews supportive of the “CAA” have certainly crossed that line.

Incidentally, readers may be aware that, with the advent of an “Online Safety Act” (as yet only the Online Safety Bill, but expected to become law by late 2023 or early 2024), the very concept of “grossly offensive” online posting will have been superseded by a very different legal framework based around “harm done”.

GB News, though, is 99% “controlled opposition”. Useless.

Anyone of or over State Pension age who votes Labour-label now is a turkey voting for Christmas, not because the fake “Conservatives” are somehow kinder, but because the Con Party desperately needs the pensioner vote, and will therefore continue to pay for it!

Without the votes of the over-65s, the Conservative Party would only have about 50 MPs, maybe even fewer. Call it a “devil’s contract”, if you like: the Triple Lock will continue only so long as there is a Conservative Party government but, conversely, the Conservative Party in government will only continue so long as the over-65s stay on board, and that means only so long as the Triple Lock stays in place.

If the “Conservative” Party loses the pensioner vote, that vote may not go to Labour, but mere mass abstention (or a LibDem protest vote) would be enough to sink the Con Party electorally, and possibly permanently.

I never had much time for Trump, and for various reasons, not least the fact that, as President, he seemed to be a squawking parrot in a gilded cage, guarded by a troop of Jew-Zionists, but at least he, if re-elected, would not escalate the Ukraine war and would probably take away Zelensky’s ricebowl (arms, ammunition, other aid, cash bungs). That would effectively end the war.

For the infantry, warfare is changing fast, and becoming even more dangerous.

Britain’s Police Federation today blasted a Met officer who allowed a suspected sweet thief to drag a female cop by her hair and throw her into a wall in an attack that sparked ridicule on social media.

The video saw a female officer swung around by her ponytail by an enraged 26-year-old woman in Willesden, north-east London – while her male colleague repeatedly pleaded ‘madam’ in a futile attempt to calm her.

Chiefs say it is evidence of officers being too afraid of repercussions to use the force needed to apprehend violent criminals.

Au contraire!

I recall when I returned to the UK from the USA in the early 1990s and was trying to launch myself as a practising barrister out of rather rackety chambers in London. Through a series of odd events involving people from the former Yugoslavia, I had met a lady who lived in Hampstead Garden Suburb. Though not Jewish, she knew a number of wealthy Jews in Hampstead and elsewhere. She had been a high-flying model many years before, and had been on the cover of magazines such as Vogue. She had lived in Switzerland and in Montreal, and her style might be called “cosmopolitan wealthy”— a big Mercedes, furs, jewels etc.

We became involved, and she wanted to help me get work (legal cases) via wealthy solicitors that she knew. She told me post factum about one with whom she lunched, and to whom she had recommended my abilities. A Jew, his first question in reply had been to say, “is he Jewish?” Obviously, my girlfriend replied in the negative. Needless to say, no briefs came my way from that one.

Well, there it is.

Sad, and slightly infuriating, though tweeter “@JasonPedlow” is wrong in saying that the said pensioner could “obviously” get Personal Independence Payment [PIP]. In fact, the very opposite is true— he obviously could not, because he is, on the facts as given, a pensioner, and a claimant has to be under State Pension Age to apply for PIP: see https://www.gov.uk/pip/eligibility. He could, however, apply for Attendance Allowance, worth rather less than PIP but still worth having: see https://www.gov.uk/attendance-allowance/eligibility.

Said pensioner would also be entitled to Pension Guarantee Credit: see https://www.gov.uk/pension-credit/eligibility. That would also confer, in principle, further benefits: maybe housing benefit, if he rents where he lives; also various one-off government payments.

Having said all that, it sounds like the said pensioner is a bit of a dimwit, worrying about what non-existent or unimportant people might think about him collecting various benefits, or worrying about some absurd “principle” invented in his own head. At a time when the Government has thrown away billions, hundreds of billions, on the “panicdemic”, on “Ukraine” (the Zelensky regime), on the importation of millions of blacks and browns and others etc.

In international law, the once-accepted theory of “extraterritoriality”, i.e. that the territory of an embassy consists of the territory of the sending state (the state to which that embassy belongs) has not been accepted for many decades. The currently-accepted theory is that an embassy (building with grounds) is on the territory of the accepting state, but that privileges and immunities attach to both the embassy site and (in varying degrees) to its diplomatic, administrative, and technical/logistical staff.

[painting by Volegov]

On this day a year ago

My view of Liz Truss, published a year ago when she was Foreign Secretary, amuses me, looking back now, months after she was —disastrously— “Prime Minister” for a few weeks.

From the newspapers

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11690425/US-general-warns-British-Army-no-longer-regarded-level-fighting-force-sources-say.html

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace has reportedly been told by a senior US general that the British army is no longer considered a top-level fighting force.

Decades of cuts are said to have led to a decline in war-fighting capability, which needs to be reversed faster than planned in light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Bottom line… it’s an entire service unable to protect the UK and our allies for a decade,’ one defence source said.”

[Daily Mail/Sky News]

  • The army would run out of ammunition ‘in a few days’ if needed to fight.
  • The UK couldn’t defend its skies against the level of missile strikes Ukraine is enduring.
  • It would take at least five years for the army to be ready with a war-fighting division of 25,000 to 30,000 troops, supported by tanks, artillery and helicopters.
  • Around 30% of UK forces on high readiness are reservists, unable to mobilise within NATO timelines.
  • Most army vehicles, including tanks, were built 30 to 60 years ago with replacements not due for years.”

[Daily Mail]

Defend” from what? “Defend” from whom? The historical and/or traditional enemies of the UK —France, Germany, Spain, Denmark— are now not enemies and unlikely to replay that role.

Forget “allies“, if by that is meant any states, in Eastern Europe etc, “allies” by reason only of belonging to NATO. They are not really “allies” at all.

The only System-suggested “enemy” on the horizon is Russia, anyway. The old Soviet Union was a genuine threat, to the UK, to the whole of Western Europe. The new Russia cannot even (yet) defeat the forces of Ukraine, let alone mount an attack on NATO territory, which would involve fighting the armies and airforces of the Baltic states, Poland, Germany, and France, among others, long before Russian forces got to within any close distance to the UK.

Apart from that, the whole Soviet ideology was (overall) aggressive and expansionist (they claimed not, and that they were mainly or entirely defensive). It might be more accurate to say that the Soviet political protocol was defensive, but that their military protocols were mainly geared to the swiftly offensive.

Whatever the truth of that, the fact is that the Russia of 2023 has no wish to take over Western Europe, and no Marxist-Leninist ideology to underpin any such wish. The whole idea is ludicrous.

Russia may want to take over Eastern Ukraine, possibly even the whole of Ukraine, together (maybe) with a few other bits and pieces such as the “state” of Moldova, but no more. It neither wants to go further nor is even capable of going further. Realpolitik.

Meanwhile, while NWO/ZOG political drones such as Ben Wallace fulminate against Russia, and feed arms and money to the Jew dictator Zelensky in Kiev, Britain is falling to pieces internally, in every way, and thousands of non-white migrant-invaders are landing on our beaches weekly, even daily, with no opposition from our Army, Navy, or Air Force, nor even from the completely useless “Border Force”.

Au contraire, they, and non-governmental agencies such as the RNLI, are actually ferrying the invaders to our ports.

There is another aspect: the quality of both officers and men (and now women too, who comprise 10%-15% of the UK armed forces).

Incidentally, the Daily Mail also reports that “Earlier today, it was reported Ukraine needs new weapons and faster deliveries to confront a ‘very tough’ situation of constant attacks by Russian forces in the eastern Donetsk region.

The fact is that, despite huge losses on the Russian side, the forces of the Kiev regime have suffered equally-huge losses in absolute terms, which means that they have suffered even greater losses in proportionate terms.

HMRC

When I myself had serious problems with HMRC, a decade or so ago, which problems stemmed in part from as long ago as the early 1990s, I found the HMRC to be a stunningly-incompetent, shambolic, almost insanely-run organization, to an extent that I quite frankly found hard to believe. “Kafka-esque” would be an accurate description.

Some HMRC employees were also very unpleasant. I think that many were sacked about a year later. I had a great deal of trouble from that “organization”, but in the end they just gave up, and told me that the matter was being treated as closed. No reason was given. They just went away, to put it politely.

Strange. I have often found in life that, when I am confronted with a serious problem, am threatened, and look as if I shall be unable to defend myself, I am then saved by some force or grace that often seems to pass all understanding. Organizations are defeated or give up, evil people are restrained, or become bankrupt or, indeed, die, in fact.

Divine protection?

“Lobsang Rampa”

Happened to see the blog article below by one Kristine de Abreu, which is about the “Tibetan monk” known as “Lobsang Rampa” (actually, an English plumber from either Plympton, Devon, or Swanage in Dorset): https://explorersweb.com/lobsang-rampa/.

Amusing and interesting, though I already knew most of the basic facts, and had known them since the late 1970s.

Around 1978, I had several “Lobsang Rampa” books in paperback, and I knew at least one other person who also owned a number of copies. In fact, even the first book by “Lobsang Rampa”, out of twenty, sold hundreds of thousands of copies, and many of his works went through numerous printings.

I reproduce the concluding part of the blog article:

Lobsang Rampa tapped into man’s desire to escape the ordinary. Writer David Michie makes a fair point when addressing the topic on his blog, davidmichie.com: “I suspect he made them up, cobbling together his own version of what he’d like Tibetan Buddhism to say…There weren’t too many real lamas around to contradict him.”

That era provided fertile ground for Rampa. The cultural scene was changing rapidly, and people were open to accepting alternative beliefs. The East was still an exotic mystery. Once his story caught the public imagination, there were few sources to contradict his claims.

third eye book cover

Front cover art for the book The Third Eye written by Lobsang Rampa. Photo: Secker & Warburg, 1956 (publisher)

Although Lobsang Rampa had fraudulent motives, his works encouraged an interest in Tibetan culture and Buddhism. They also brought much-needed attention to the Tibet Independence Movement. Even the Dalai Lama, who opposed his works and discredited his story, conceded to him this one point. Rampa became an unlikely poster boy for the Tibetan cause, and his books still have a cult following.

We today are rather accustomed to fraud and fakery, from the small-scale “Jack Monroe” and Julia Grace Patterson type of “grifting”, through the large-scale theft, fraud and background of “Robert Maxwell” and the like, and right up to the sort of fraud and fakery which is on a vast scale, such as much of the “holocaust” farrago (particularly the “gas chambers” tall tales), much of the incredible and recent “Covid” nonsense (the facemask nonsense being only part of that), and deliberate political scams such as “Iraqi missiles could hit London in 15 minutes” and “Russia wants to invade Western Europe” (and so we must, it is proclaimed, “stand with Ukraine to save democracy” etc…).

Not to mention “Black Lives Matter”, and much of the “climate change” stuff.

The cartoon below pokes fun at some recent excrescences:

Still, as the Dalai Lama has apparently pointed out in respect of Lobsang Rampa, even a book or other cultural item that is largely untrue can have at least some positive results, certainly some large-scale results either way. Look at the history of the Mormons. A basically fake religion which, however, created Salt Lake City and various other things of value, such as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Come to that, what about the Turin Shroud? The Roman Catholic Church does not endorse it as “true” (as the shroud used to cover the body of Jesus Christ), but endorses it only as “an aid to faith”.

In fact, much of what most people think of as “History” (with a capital “H”) is not 100% or (in some cases) even 50% accurate. Examples include the two revolutions in the Russia of 1917, the story of British Empire (in the past thought of as almost-immaculate, but now often —and even less accurately— judged by many silly people to be a long-term disgrace). Then there is the story of National Socialism, Hitler, and the Second World War, but we cannot even start to consider that here.

Life is a great deal more complicated than many prefer to believe.

Interesting. The blog post is from May 2022. I have no idea whether there has been more progress since then.

The so-called “far right” activists of Idaho have, by chance or wit, implemented the primary dictum of Clausewitz, “to create first a secure base“. That is in essence what I have been suggesting should happen in the UK, possibly in the South West of England, leaving aside some ideological and/or cultural divergences or differences.

It’s quite funny, in a bitter way— decades, even centuries, of Irish nationalism have come to exactly nothing, and now even the pathetic Sinn Fein/IRA rump has caved in.
