“Charles Edward Coughlin (/ˈkɒɡlɪn/ KOG-lin; October 25, 1891 – October 27, 1979), commonly known as Father Coughlin, was a Canadian–American Catholic priest based in the United States near Detroit. He was the founding priest of the National Shrine of the Little Flower. Dubbed “The Radio Priest ” and considered a leading demagogue,[1] he was one of the first political leaders to use radio to reach a mass audience. During the 1930s, when the U.S. population was about 120 million, an estimated 30 million listeners tuned in to his weekly broadcasts.[2]

Coughlin was born in Ontario to working-class Irish Catholic parents. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1916, and in 1923 he was assigned to the National Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak, Michigan. Coughlin began broadcasting his sermons during a time of increasing anti-Catholic sentiment across the globe. As his broadcasts became more political, he became increasingly popular.[3]

Initially, Coughlin was a vocal supporter of Franklin D. Roosevelt and his New Deal; he later fell out with Roosevelt, accusing him of being too friendly to bankers. In 1934, he established a political organization called the National Union for Social Justice. Its platform called for monetary reforms, nationalization of major industries and railroads, and protection of labour rights. The membership ran into the millions but was not well organized locally.[4]

After making attacks on Jewish bankers, Coughlin began to use his radio program Golden Hour to broadcast antisemitic commentary. In the late 1930s, he supported some of the policies of Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy. The broadcasts have been described as “a variation of the Fascist agenda applied to American culture”.[5] His chief topics were political and economic rather than religious, using the slogan “Social Justice”.

After the outbreak of World War II in Europe in 1939, the National Association of Broadcasters forced the cancellation of Golden Hour. In 1942, the Archdiocese of Detroit forced Coughlin to close his newspaper Social Justice and forbade its distribution by mail. Coughlin vanished from the public arena, working as a parish pastor until retiring in 1966. He died in 1979 at age 88.[6][7][8]“

It seems that Father Coughlin’s views were a more politicized, and more American (though he was born and brought up in Ontario), equivalent of those espoused by those of the great G.K. Chesterton, Hilaire Belloc, and others of a Roman Catholic or an Anglo-Catholic ideological background prior to the Second World War.

Leaving aside the rights and wrongs, “IQ” can only take you so far. My own IQ was once measured (40 years ago) at 156, easily within the top 1% of the population, yet I have not taken over leadership of the world and, at age 68, time is running out, at least in my present incarnation.

Looking at most politicians, commentators, business leaders etc in our society, intellectual mediocrity is more likely to lead to “success” than a stellar IQ.

Interestingly, it is claimed that Marilyn Monroe had an IQ equivalent to that of Einstein, which must make one question the basis for IQ’s societal prominence. We are only at the early stages of understanding what makes the brain, the human personality, and society, work.

Gradually, however, he became disillusioned. The battle was furious. “The Russians would smash our positions to the ground,” he said. Senior Ukrainian commanders gave unrealistic orders. Then, while he was defending a ruined building, a panel fell on his shoulder. After receiving injections to reduce the pain, he was told to return to the front. “I realised I’m nobody. Just a number,” he said.

In May that same year, Viktor left his position to seek further medical treatment. He did not come back. His commander marked him down as awol. Viktor is one of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers who have abandoned their units. The exact figure is a military secret, but officials concede the number is large.

The issue of desertion has made headlines in Ukraine. Last week the government launched an investigation into the 155th Mechanised Brigade. Fifty-six soldiers disappeared while training in France. Hundreds of others are said to be missing.

After three years of war, Ukraine is desperately short of soldiers, especially infantry. This has made it easier for Russia’s army to advance in the east. There are structural issues too. New brigades have been built from scratch. They performed poorly.”

I happened to see on TV an elderly, over-90 years, but very compos mentis, retired professor, talking to the TV chef Rick Stein about the decline in average IQ since 1950, as apparently noted in a study done by, or under the auspices of, Bradford University. The professor cited as a (or even the) causative reason the decline of consumption of fish and shellfish in the UK over the past 74 years.

That may be part of it. Certainly some types of fish popular with the mass market have become expensive; even standard British favourites such as cod and haddock. I bought some fish and chips recently: 1 large cod, 1 large haddock, 1 small bag of chips. £20.50.

Whether you think that £20.50 for a smallish bag of chips and 2 large pieces of fish is expensive or not will depend on your general financial level, but it is at least certainly more than most citizens will want to pay out on a daily basis.

Some fish in the UK is not, however, expensive, however poor you are. Mackerel, for one, which can be bought (uncooked) in a supermarket for as little as a pound or so for a good-size fillet.

I recall that, when I lived in Fethiye (Turkey) for a few months in 2001 (I drove there from the UK, a trip that was more difficult then than it now is), I went to the fish market in the town almost daily, about 4-5 times a week. The hierarchy of price descended from the most expensive, which were huge langoustines, or tuna steak and swordfish (cut from massive whole tuna and swordfish, some 5 or 6 feet or more long and 1-2 feet wide), through many other types of fish and shellfish and down to tiny fish, presumably by-catch, which cost only about 5% or even 2% of the most expensive. There is always a decision to be made by the individual on what is affordable or not.

IQ in a general population is obviously affected by diet, but is also a function of other factors. The UK’s average IQ level has been badly affected by, inter alia, the mass immigration that has been such a feature of the past 75 years.

Importation of non-European peoples into the UK has had many negative consequences. A lower average IQ is merely one.

One sees evidence of decline in IQ and/or educational levels everywhere. One example might be secondary school exam papers. When I was studying, belatedly, in my mid-twenties, for “A” Levels (and an “S” level) in 1983, studying alone and without tuition, I sent off for papers from a number of previous years, from the 1950s and 1960s right up to 1982. Even in 1983, one could see that the level of difficulty had steadily declined over the previous 30 years.

Since the 1980s, of course, there has been massive award inflation. Not only at secondary educational level but also at tertiary (university) level. Hardly anyone actually fails a university degree now, unless the student drops out. The kind of average degree, normal only 30 or more years ago, a 2:2 (as earned by Tony Blair, among others), is now not even considered a reasonably “good” degree. The real standard has not improved, but dropped, while presented as something wonderful.

As for myself, long ago, in the 1980s, my IQ was tested at 156 (UK average being 100, and university students typically testing at 125), certainly in the top 1% of the population, but that was in the mid-1980s, when I was about 30, and it may well be (I do not know) that I would test lower today. By way of compensation, though, I think that I can say that experience, and other infusions from the stream of Life, make up the difference, and perhaps more.

We often hear that “things do not work properly any more in our society”, and that may become a greater problem as average IQ drops ever lower.

Our society should be travelling, by design, in the other direction.

“This decision by the SRA about Lewis’ negligent advice is just awful. Mark Lewis told Pete Newbon that the defamatory publication did not identify me. It was startlingly incompetent advice because the publication contained a clear photo of me and Tolley v Fry (possibly the most famous defamation case) says a claimant can be identified by a photo or sketch. The SRA’s own Code of Conduct says solicitors must “ensure that the service you provide to clients is competent…” So contrary to what the SRA says, incompetent advice is a regulatory matter. And the SRA’s strategy for dealing with Lewis’ incompetent advice is for Newbon to bring a negligence claim or complain to the ombudsman. Obviously, Newbon will not do either of those things. Mark Lewis, as previously noted, is a self-publicizing and —by the “occupied” UK msm— hugely overrated solicitor who should have been struck off (not merely reprimanded and fined, as he was) for some of his previous professional (meaning unprofessional) defaults. He is, and has been repeatedly proven to be, dishonest, untruthful, and professionally negligent.

Only a complete idiot would now instruct “Mark Lewis Lawyer”.

What is protecting Lewis, in my view, is the fact that the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority was screeched at in 2019 by the organized Jew-Zionist lobby, after the SRA fined and reprimanded Lewis, after which he performatively decamped to Israel (but then slunk back quite often to the UK to make money). The SRA may be running a little scared of “the screechers” (((them))).

How can society achieve a quantum leap?

The most important thing for our society to do, once it has “cleared the decks” of major problems, backward elements and impediments, is to —metaphorically and, perhaps, eventually, actually— “aim for the stars”.

Human beings are still at or near the start of their development. IQ tests are only a guide to the present intelligence of an individual or a people. The “average” is usually taken to be 100. A simplification, of course [see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intelligence_quotient].

I believe that the high-IQ club, MENSA, takes members above a score something like 140 or 142. It is not particularly uncommon for persons to score well above that level, though such persons are within the top 2%, and in some cases 1%, of the population. I myself was tested (in the 1980s, before marriages and an ocean of red wine) at 156. I know at least one person who was once tested at 169, which (I think) is somewhere towards the top of the useful scale, though I am no expert in these matters.

The figures can only be taken as a rough guide to reality. According to the Wikipedia article cited above, persons in “professional and technical” occupations average, supposedly, around 112, while persons who are medical doctors, lawyers etc score an average of 125.

It is often mistakenly thought that a score above some set figure indicates “genius”, whereas in reality “genius” imports what Wagner, in response to a question about his own genius, called “universal currents of Divine thought“.

One sometimes sees young persons whom the popular Press describes as having “genius” IQ. Their strong suit is usually mathematics. A number of years ago, a young Jewish girl was one such. Such people rarely take a leading role in society, either because they have no interest in doing so, or because their mentality is narrowly-focussed, or both.

When we talk about society in general, we talk of a broad advance (or decline) across the board. It is well known that Oriental ethnic groups, especially Chinese and Japanese, have a high average IQ. Northern Europeans too. Some ethnic groups, particularly many sub-Saharan African ones, have a markedly low average IQ.

This is not a (no pun intended) black and white issue. Even the Wikipedia overview [see above] outlines some of the uncertainties and complexities.

There is also the point that mere intelligence is not everything. “Emotional intelligence”, often called “EQ”, is also of importance. A common mistake is to imagine that morality, compassion etc are “add-ons” to intelligence. Not so. In our present age, the two are distinct, but to imagine that evil-doers are generally more intelligent than the well-intentioned is an error.

Valentin Tomberg [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valentin_Tomberg] examined the good/evil and high intelligence/low intelligence binaries in some of his work. He also noted, as did Steiner, the eventual appearance on Earth of two opposed groups, which would become opposed cultures, civilizations, and then races, one evil, one good.

Let us ask, as an exercise in ideas, what could we do, in a circumstance where we have the power to choose, to create a higher societal form.

For the purposes of this exercise, I am assuming that the most unpleasant and backward groups in present UK society are no longer present.

The starting point must be the educational system, which is obviously not working. A simplistic view would be to say “replace present State and other education with Steiner (or other) education”. My problem with that would be that, from what I have heard, even Steiner education is by no means perfect.

However, there obviously needs to be considerable reform of both school and university education. The whole “degree” and “master’s degree” and “doctorate” system should really be junked, as no longer fit for purpose.

“Education” should not be merely a matter of stuffing heads with facts (important though that can be); still less, a matter of stuffing heads with propaganda (often false). It should be a matter of general, including moral-ethical, upbringing, with the aim of allowing to blossom each child’s capabilities and talents for the ultimate good of society.

Institutes should be established, which would have the specific aim of increasing the cultural and intelligence level of the people. A great deal has been learned in the past century about how to increase intelligence in the short-term: diet, music etc.

During the 12-year currency of the German Reich, there were institutes established to study esoteric matters, as well as history. The best known was SS-Ahnenerbe [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahnenerbe].

There was a generally spiritual as well as practical side to German National Socialism.

Even today, there is considerable interest in SS-Ahnenerbe, and later developments.

While it would be excellent to establish an institute such as SS-Ahnenerbe in the new UK state, the Ahnenerbe’s focus was mainly on the past, whereas for me the orientation has to be towards the future.

We already have institutes of, inter alia, psychology, sociology, philosophy. As I have said many times before, the international cabals know that the next significant year in the 33-year cycle is 2022. It will be the most significant since 1989, which was itself the most determinative since 1956.

Christopher Langan: IQ and EQ, Nature v. nurture

I was sent this Wikipedia material: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Langan, which is biographical detail about someone who has had some of the highest I.Q. test results ever recorded; between 195 and 210.

My own I.Q. was once (long ago!) tested at 156, which is considered high, the global average being taken to be 100. The average for UK university students is supposed to be 125 (though I am citing a figure from the 1980s, before “everyone and his dog” went to a “university”, so the average for students must surely be lower now…). I believe that the British “dating club for eggheads”, MENSA, takes candidates with I.Q. levels above 140 or 142 (I cannot recall exactly, offhand).

That Christopher Langan biog. is an interesting read in terms of the “Nature v. nurture” debate. As Wikipedia notes, it is interesting to speculate as to whether Langan would have had a very different (easier? Less turbulent?) life had he had such background (and family wealth) as the Jewish scientist, Oppenheimer [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._Robert_Oppenheimer].

As far as Langan himself is concerned, Wikipedia says that: “Langan’s IQ was estimated on ABC’s 20/20 to be between 195 and 210,[2] and he has been described by some journalists as “the smartest man in America” or “in the world”.[3][4][5][6]” and adds that: “Langan has developed an idea he calls the “Cognitive-Theoretic Model of the Universe” (CTMU)[3][6][8] which he maintains “explains the connection between mind and reality, therefore the presence of cognition and universe in the same phrase”.[9] He calls his proposal “a true ‘Theory of Everything‘, a cross between John Archibald Wheeler‘s ‘Participatory Universe‘ and Stephen Hawking‘s ‘Imaginary Time‘ theory of cosmology”[3] additionally contending that with CTMU he “can prove the existence of God, the soul and an afterlife, using mathematics.“[1][4] “

Langan has socio-political views which would —and perhaps do— enrage the Jews and their “antifa” dupes:

They certainly do it to other intelligent and well-educated social-national people; they have done it even to me! Fortunately, such ignorant critics are irrelevant both to me and general society.

High IQ is better than low, but high morality (in the sense of the Good, or compassion etc) is more important, or equally important; perhaps more important. We are used to thinking, perhaps from popular thrillers etc, of “clever” and “bad” as going together, whereas “bad” often goes with stupidity, in fact. The future must be both “clever” and “good”.

Nature v. nurture. A debate which has been lively since the time of Darwin, and arguably since much earlier times. The Jesuits said, following no less than Aristotle, “give me the child until he is seven, and I shall give you the man.”

Rudolf Steiner was right to place education in the forefront of society. The German National Socialists, with very different aims and methods, did the same. As did the Soviet Union. None was 100% “right” in terms of what was done. Even Waldorf (Rudolf Steiner) schools are subject to criticism, sometimes ill-founded, sometimes not.

Whatever one may say about different forms of education, there is no doubt that, in the wider sense (meaning upbringing from birth, as well as more formal education), it is key to the future of the whole world.

People vary widely in their abilities. It should be the job of educationalists to discover what abilities a child has, and then to nurture them, both for the good of the child and for the good of society. Vocational dissatisfaction is at the root of many of the ills of society.

Also, it is not just a matter of stuffing the child with as much knowledge as possible, important as that may be. “EQ” (emotional intelligence) must run alongside I.Q. This idea is not new. After all, in exaggerated form it appears in Tom Brown’s Schooldays:

That formula, however, all but chucks out the idea of “IQ” and an education of facts. It is more akin to the basic National Socialist education of 1930s Germany. Not for nothing did Hitler admire the Boy Scout and Girl Guide movement of Baden Powell, and emulate it via the Hitlerjugend and Bund Deutscher Mädel.

The better ideal takes into account both the formation of intellect and the formation of character, including that of helping others: Durch Mitleid wissen (“Through compassion to knowledge”, the motto of the Knights of the Grail).

I wish that the “educational debate” in the UK were more about the themes noted above, and less about meaningless “grades”, “degrees” etc; and far less about “equality” (whether absolute or “of opportunity”).

Yes. The police have largely become an alien invasive force obsessed by “anti-racism” and other current shibboleths. There has been a backlash, though. I notice that in Hampshire, where I live, the police command has decided to close a number of the local police Twitter accounts. Most were in fact interesting and informative, but I saw a couple which were obviously out of control. One was (it is not now tweeting and will be closed within a week or so) “@WatersideCops”, covering the western shoreline areas of the Solent, close to Southampton. That Twitter account was always pumping out propaganda about various things, particularly “racism” against “Roma” gypsies and so-called “travellers”, i.e. the caravan-dwellers once known as “tinkers”. Ironic, in view of the crime profile of the area (and areas around).

Often, though not always, civilian employees of the police are to blame for nonsensical tweeting.

Oh well…”Waterside Cops” will soon have to stop tweeting nonsense and start doing their real job better.

I suppose that I should not say more at present about the continuing persecution of the singer-songwriter Alison Chabloz, the complaints against whom (like the malicious Jew-Zionist complaint made against me in 2017) have mostly been made by the “Campaign Against Antisemitism” in the person of Stephen Silverman of South Essex. Alison comes up for trial at the end of March 2021.

One has to ask, in general terms, how it is that a tiny fanatical pressure group has in recent years exercized such influence over the police of London, Essex, Derbyshire etc. Also, how it is that these Israel-fanatics are apparently welcome on LBC, Sky News etc. Well, I suppose that it depends on the (((political editors))) and on their (((bias)))…

Watched that excellent film, Waterloo. Rod Steiger is amazing as Napoleon, the man who changed the face of Europe even in defeat.

While watching I drank (probably too much) “blackstrap”, a mixture of cognac and port. A drink almost forgotten today, but which, before the First World War, was considered the drink of the Life Guards (officers) and (as and when permitted) Eton.
