Remembrance not only of the tragedies of war, but also of the sad realization that, at least on the Western Front in Europe, the two world wars need never have happened at all.

Israel’s main enemies in geopolitical terms, meaning Iraq, Syria, Egypt, were gradually destabilized and removed from the board, from 1989 to 2021, thus leaving Israel pre-eminent in the region.
Smaller and generally anti-Israel states were dealt with in more or less the same way: Libya, Tunisia, Yemen.
That leaves Iran as the only obstacle to Israel’s regional supremacy. Iran’s ancient history and large (and —overall— not-badly-educated) population, its oil, its industrial capacity, all make Iran a target for Israel and “World Jewry”.
It cannot be long before Israel attacks Iran with tacit or overt US support. Suitable excuses will no doubt be produced, anything from Iran’s nuclear programme to cartoons mocking the so-called “holocaust” farrago.
Once Iran is attacked and reduced (in strategic areas) to rubble, there will be a campaign to “overthrow the regime” (as in Iraq, Syria, Ukraine etc), and maybe foment a civil war.
The result, if the Israeli, American, and other Jews are successful, will be (in effect) a Greater Israel. The venal Gulf Arabs have already surrendered to Israel and its wider Jewish diaspora. Diplomatic relations, and airline flights, between Dubai and Israel, Bahrain and Israel.
No surprise to me. The Gulf Arabs worship the “Money Power”, and have little other (culture, identity, even religion) to oppose such worship. Saudi Arabia has made no public statement, but is on the same page.
Israel does not have to immediately plant its flag of conquest over the capitals of the region. Slow, gradual annexation by commerce and the Jewish-American cultural influence will do the job.

What other poorly-educated, mentally-afflicted teenager (who has actually done nothing anyway) gets respectfully interviewed by someone who is (rightly or wrongly) a major msm current affairs bod? Why should anyone be interested in what Greta Nut thinks about US Government policy? PM presenter Evan Davis then referred to her as “Greta”. She thus joins the select few known universally by first name, such as “Boris”, “Fidel”, “Jesus” etc.

On the BBC they’ve just said only 1% of petrel stations are suffering a fuel shortage. So there is no actual “fuel crisis”. And given there is no actual fuel crisis, how do people expect ministers to solve the non-existent fuel crisis.
People are literally using up their petrol, driving around trying to find somewhere to fill up with petrol even though they don’t need too because there is no shortage of petrol.
While —for once— I agree with Blairite talking head and scribbler, Dan Hodges, a crisis is usually, in the end, provoked by people and their actions, not by some underlying reality. If 30 million people engage in any behaviour, it changes the whole situation. Regardless of how many millions of gallons of fuel are being shipped, refined, distributed.

Having said that, and as Hodges tweets, there is not much that the Cabinet of clowns can do to resolve, immediately, the crisis (whether there need be a “crisis” or not). I once wondered why the Palestinians of Gaza had never adapted the (no longer secret, and easily found) technology of the German V-1 rockets of the Second World War (an early “cruise missile”) to attack Israel, but probably their lack of interest was because the V-1, though very fast by 1944 standards, was a rather slow rocket by the standards of the late 20th, and 21st, centuries.
The Spitfire pilots became proficient in shooting down V-1 flying bombs.
In other words, a modern Israeli jet would easily be able to destroy such ground-to-ground air weapons.
The other tactic used by Hamas in or from Gaza is the tunnel. The Israelis, and the Hamas operatives, play a deadly cat and mouse game in which the former try to find such tunnels (using high technology) and destroy them.
I imagine that the response of Hamas will be to dig deeper and deeper, far below the surface, where even high explosive and bunker-busting bombs and missiles will have little effect. The moment of maximum danger for such tunnellers would be when they excavate to the surface again (presumably in less-habited parts of Israel).

I recall an old lady I knew telling me that, with some friends from Switzerland, she visited (sometime in the 1990s) another friend, a former Waffen SS sergeant in Bavaria, who talked constantly about Hitler in Antarctica, submarines in 1945 going there, hollow Earth etc. They regarded him as having become very eccentric, though, and certainly did not believe any of it.

While running a few errands yesterday (in the American phrase), I saw quite a few silly people still wearing masks even outdoors, including several people wearing them while walking on a clifftop overlooking the Channel! In a strong breeze of at least 15 mph, at that! I saw one family, a man, woman and two small children, all masked on the clifftop! They must have noticed my gaze, or realized the absurdity of their behaviour, because I noticed that when they walked back 10 minutes later, only the woman was still wearing the mask.
Admittedly, most people were not wearing the masks outdoors, but in a Tesco supermarket about 6 miles from my home, more wearing masks than not. However, no-one looked oddly at unmasked me, let alone said some, or any, virtue-signalling nonsense.
I get the impression that, now, the facemasks are less about any perceived (wrongly imagined) health benefits and more about saying “look, I am a member of the virtue-signallers’ tribe”…
Oddly, in view of the fact that most Jews (at least on Twitter) seem to be facemask zealots, I saw a horrible-looking Jewish woman unmasked; not at that supermarket, but in a large village somewhat inland; she was with not only three small children (one actually wearing one of those skullcaps…a yarmulka?), but also two even younger ones, pushed in a double pushchair. None were masked, in fact. An unpleasant sight all the same. An unusual thing to see in this part of the world.

Israeli elections
Readers of my blog will know that I am usually cautious about commenting about the political situation in countries with which I am not directly familiar (even Scotland), but idly browsing Wikipedia while listening to BBC World Service, I heard about the electoral impasse in Israel. I looked up the state of play on Wikipedia:
It seems that there 120 elected members. What is extraordinary is that Israeli politics is so fragmented that the party presently ruling, Likud [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Likud], has only 30 members out of that 120. Indeed, the whole minority government coalition headed by Likud only has 54 members.
The second-largest party in the Knesset, Yesh Atid [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yesh_Atid] has only 17 Knesset members. The next-largest party has 9. In fact, there are no less than 23 parties and Independent members represented, grouped into 13 factions.

Compare that to the much larger UK House of Commons, where there are 16 parties and Independents but where, out of 650 MPs, 562 belong to only two of those parties.
Why is the Israeli parliament so fragmented? It may be that there is something in the Jewish psychology that tends to dissension, dissidence etc. That was certainly true of the various Marxist factions that used to exist in the Western world, especially in the realms of Trotskyism.
There again, the Israeli proportional representation system has a low threshold for representation: 3.25% (it was 1% at one time). In fact, there has never been a one-party-majority government in Israel.
Another aspect yet is that most of those parties were started not long ago. The main Opposition party, Yesh Atid, was only formed in 2012. Several others were formed even more recently, in the past two or three years. Likud, the presently largest party, was founded in 1973.
Well, there it is. A peculiar country. Interesting though. I am interested generally in countries which are contrived or artificial, as Israel surely is. Singapore would be another example. Listening to some typical farm-owner whining on BBC Radio 4 Today Programme. Farmers in the UK always want it both ways, to be treated as independent businessmen and women, but given State subsidy or support at the same time. For me, it just does not wash.
One farmer had the right sort of ideas about small-scale farming, biodiversity, organics etc, yet wanted public money, in effect for not being an environmental vandal. Why should the public subsidize farmers at all? Better to impose environmental and animal welfare regulations, restrict imports, and let the farms be real private “businesses”. Alternatively, to put them largely into State ownership but give environment-friendly farmers or collectives long-term (even lifetime) leases.

It seems that she will now be released having served half her headline 18-week sentence, but minus the 4 days and part-days that she served in 2020 prior to her successful appeal.
The firm expectation now is that Alison will be released from prison on Friday 28 May 2021 (i.e. the day after tomorrow).
Alison’s appeal against conviction and sentence will be heard on 3-4 June 2021 in the Crown Court, probably at Southwark.

Apparently, the woman’s father found that a fake “holocaust” connection was a good excuse (in both London and Austria) against allegations of business fraud in the 1960s and 1970s, though he was eventually imprisoned in England. His daughter claimed that one of the reasons why her father never paid his business creditors was because he spent all his money or much of it on lawyers, trying to get “restitution” for value allegedly taken by (yes, you guessed it) “the Nazis”.
Apparently, in the 1960s or 1970s, her father also demanded (and received) non-existent arrears of “rent” for the seven years from 1938 to 1945 from the National Socialist, Franz Hofer [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franz_Hofer], who had bought the Cafe Schindler in 1938, and who had turned it into a favourite place for the Innsbruck National Socialists. The “rent” was paid to the Jew by Hofer (who may have been unwell and who died in 1975) “unofficially”, in cash. A form of blackmail, really.
The cafe still exists, under a similar name.
An interesting feature, that made me laugh, was that the presenter seemed to take some of the assertions made as truthful, despite having been made by a Jewish business cheat whose own daughter admits he was a fraudster and serial liar. In fact, I found the daughter’s account rather naive in places, as when she said that her family had to sell in 1938 in order to avoid “being shipped off to Poland“. Rather poor from a well-known journalist. Guderian [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinz_Guderian] was a German officer who was not, however, a member of the NSDAP (National Socialist party). In fact, most German officers were not NSDAP members, though about a third of junior officers were, by 1945.
Hitchens, despite making equivalence between the Reich and the Soviet Union, always seems to me to have more genuine animus against the German Reich, possibly (I speculate) because of his own part-Jewish background [see https://ianrobertmillard.org/2019/05/19/peter-hitchens-and-his-views/].
This must be a first. My answer to the rhetorical question posed by Hitchens is that the Jews (primarily in the sense of “international Jewry” or “the Zionists’ leaders”) wanted war, to destroy Hitler and National Socialism. In Britain, in its ruling circles, there was a “War Party” fronted by Churchill, paid for secretly by the Jews, and that “War Party” included leading civil servants such as Vansittart [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Vansittart,_1st_Baron_Vansittart] and leading System politicians, such as not only Churchill but also Duff Cooper and others [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duff_Cooper].
