Well, I cannot speak as to any of those details, but right from the start I felt that there was something not quite right about Paul Mason. I have blogged about him previously, two or three years ago.
First of all, despite having trained as a musician, and worked as such, and also having lectured in musical studies at Loughborough (Leicestershire), Mason (a quarter-Jew, one of his grandparents having immigrated from Lithuania), never having had any formal financial or economics training, suddenly appears as a freelance financial journalist in London in 1991 at age 31 (after a “missing” three years). Then, from 2001, he is seen on shows such as Newsnight (as Business Editor), and his political persona at that time is a kind of semi-Marxist and semi-anarcho-syndicalist mixture, hard to pin down.
You can see from that piece how, over the years, Mason has veered from so-called “left-wing Communism” and Trotskyism to (he himself claims) “social democracy” and both Marxism and post-Marxism. At one point, he was writing in support of Jeremy Corbyn. More recently, Mason declared himself a supporter of Keir Starmer.
You see the point. Politically, for all his worn-on-the sleeve pseudo-radicalism, Mason is the political grey man, superficially at home here, there, and everywhere. He sort-of fits in almost anywhere in the (generally anti-British type of) political milieu, almost like a secret agent of some sort…

To my mind, two aspects stand out: firstly, the fact that Reform UK has been attracting voters from all System parties, leaving the Greens aside. Former Conservative Party voters, but also former Labour Party voters; even some former LibDem voters (presumably, people who previously voted LibDem as being “the least bad of a bad bunch”). Secondly, the fact that Reform UK seems to be able to pull out of their self-imposed (?) exile people who in recent times have preferred not to vote (presumably in disgust at the choice or, rather, lack of choice, offered.
I have said many times on this blog that, with (in 2024) just on 40% of the entire eligible electorate preferring not to vote, any party that could energize even a substantial fraction of those voters, might sweep to power. It is not clear what proportion of 2024 non-voters are now willing to vote Reform, but it seems to be a substantial proportion, anyway (and no other party is managing to do the same).
A further point of interest is how many 2024 Lab and Con voters are now intending to abstain. Quite a few, but more from the Labour camp. I am guessing that the one-time Corbyn supporters are either going Green or abstaining, while others are going LibDem or to Reform, but it may not be so clear-cut.
What the picture will be by 2029, I cannot say, but somehow I doubt that most of those dissatisfied voters will be flocking back like homing pigeons to Lab or Con. Indeed, it may well be that both main System parties will experience further drift away from their control and influence.

My reading of that opinion poll is that the voters are unimpressed by all existing political parties. There is a vacuum at present. Reform UK was leaping ahead; it has now stalled. It too much tries to be “reasonable” and “moderate”.
If voters want “centrist” bs and lies, they can vote LibLabCon. Why would they vote Reform? Reform’s leaders are too much focussed on “small boats” etc. Not that that is not a major issue, but “legal” immigration is 20x “illegal”. Yes, 1,000 or even 2,000 migrant-invaders hit the beaches daily now but, on the same day(s), 20,000 or even 40,000 arrive superficially “legally”.
Also, some of the main figures in and around Reform UK are non-whites. That’s no good, and sends a mixed message.
Either Reform UK goes social-national or it will go the same way as both UKIP and Brexit Party. “Conservatism-plus” is not a vote-winner.
Incidentally, that latest opinion poll translates, via Electoral Calculus, into a Commons with 188 Lab seats, 174 Con, 155 Reform, 68 LibDem (Greens 4, SNP 35 etc). Hopelessly hung Parliament, so maybe a Reform/Con coalition.

Water under the bridge now, of course, but if only Russia had decapitated the Kiev regime at the start, in 2022, eliminated Zelensky and his immediate cabal, and taken Kiev by a mass parachute assault using the VDV and Spetsnaz forces available, followed by a push through using armour and infantry. The reality is that Russia should take all Ukraine east of the Dnieper, and the coastal areas of the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea. A viable independent Ukraine can then come into being in the rest of the country, and centred on Lvov. Kiev and its immediate hinterland can become some kind of autonomous city, rather as Danzig (now Gdansk) was in the period 1920-1939.

As a matter of fact, even 1997 was not 1997 (as normally and wrongly thought to be, i.e. a popular landslide): in 1997, Blair Labour, thanks to FPTP voting, ended up with about 65% of Commons seats, but its popular vote was only 43.2% (Conservatives 30.7%; LibDems 16.8%; others 9.4%). Far more people, even of those who voted, did not want Labour as compared to those that did.

If this Ukrainian stronghold falls, it will give Russian troops the opportunity to more easily strike the rest of the Donbass, putting key cities such as Kramatorsk at risk.

If Kharkov itself can be taken this year, the war will be close to ending. The whole of Ukraine east of the Dnieper will, in that contingency, be taken by Russian forces pushing from north, east, and south.
