I have been thinking for a while about what happens after the ludicrous and misconceived “lockdown” or shutdown ends.
We do not as yet know when that will be. In the UK, that is. Some countries have not even had a “lockdown”, have suffered no worse than the UK (far less, in some cases), and their economies and societies are still functioning.
The present UK Government is plainly flying blind. As the ludicrous “lockdown” has continued, the Government has been driven by public relations, not by “the Science” (as a god), even “the Science” as presented to the Government by that lunatic politically-correct Imperial College professor, Ferguson, so often terribly wrong in the past too.
Yes, Hitler was born there, so it must be dangerous! Hitler “bestrides the narrow world like a colossus”; alternatively, “there is a spectre haunting Europe, the spectre of Adolf Hitler.”
Many wonder why Hitler still exercises such fascination over the European peoples, 75 years after his death. I think that there are several reasons.
For one thing, the world of today is, to a large extent, that formed in the crucible of the 1940s. Premature decolonization, the Cold War, the population explosion and the eventual migration-invasion are just some of the trends or situations which started in or soon after WW2. That is one factor. That would include the major international bodies of today: the UN, the World Bank and IMF, NATO etc.
There is, though, and in my view, more to it than that. Despite the Jew-Zionist propaganda of the past 75 years, which has intensified since the 1980s, many European people know, from some little voice amid the trumpeting of anti-Hitlerism and “holocaust” propaganda, that the real story of those years (the 12 years of first triumph, and then defeat and disaster, 1933-45), has not been fully or truthfully told.
More yet. It is the feeling that much of our present society in Europe (and elsewhere, but let’s focus) is just…wrong…The multikulti society with huge numbers of relatively low IQ, low culture blacks and browns; the ever-declining standards in public services, architecture, housing, “welfare” (social security), roads, rail; the feeling of stress brought in from having adopted a society based on what might be called “godless materialism”, and on a basically Jew-Zionist 24/7 “open all hours” society of round-the-clock moneymaking (profiteering).
People, European people, think or know, at heart, that we can do better. They do not say “Hitler was right!” simpliciter. No, it is more nuanced than that. They do know, though, by instinct, that Hitler would be on the side of a better, advanced European society, and would despise much of the present one. Ergo, not “let’s go back to the 1930s”, but “we have taken some wrong turns”. I think that that is the underlying mood.

I may do a blog article about a character mentioned in that article, a Jew sociology lecturer at Birkbeck College (part of London University), called Ben Gidley, who has a trolling account on Twitter under the name @BobFromBrockley (his would-be “professional” one is @BenGidley).
Under the @BobFromBrockley banner, Gidley promotes political violence, so long as it is only used against “fascists” and “Nazis” (oh, and anyone against the Israeli state…like many Jews, he is a fervent supporter of Israel).
He has had some Twitter accounts removed or frozen, for example @InTheSoupAgain, which he used on a daily basis to attack me and my Twitter account (the Jews eventually had me expelled from Twitter in 2018).
Gidley would launch vicious assaults on anyone even passing the time of day with me on Twitter. Most of those attacked blocked him or told him to get lost; sadly, a few doormats did what he wanted and blocked me. Not many, though.
Gidley, as “Soup”, had a few other Jews supporting him in his trolling. One, @cdaargh (previously “Christine of Aargh”), was a mentally-disordered Jewish woman, who supplemented her prescribed anti-psychotic and/or anti-depressive medication by liberal intakes of whisky. Demented. Like so many of those who have opposed me, she has either gone up the chimney or been sent to a mental hospital. I have blogged before about the strong connection that exists between contemporary “anti-fascism” and mental disorder.
Gidley’s “Soup” account was “suspended” (removed) by Twitter in the end, but was resurrected by him under the name @AntiNazisUnited, which account has now been frozen since April 2019.
What I find most extraordinary about Gidley is that his college seems to be sanguine about his hate-filled Twitter outpourings, on which he seems to spend a goodly part of his day.

Leaving aside “Cat” Smith, What are we to make of the seemingly relentless drive to lower the voting age in the UK? Where is the lower limit? 16? 15? 14? Why? It is not much of an argument to say (true though it is) that even the young people of 18, 19, 20, enfranchised re. Westminster elections since the early 1970s, mostly do not bother to vote (though I myself did, when 18, in late 1974. My candidate received about 690 votes and lost his deposit).
A decision on age of enfranchisement can only reasonably be made on the basis of psychological or philosophical knowledge; otherwise, the decision to lower (or raise) the age when people can vote is purely arbitrary. Some children of 12 are more capable of deciding intelligently on their political preference than are some adults of 60, but that is no reason to lower the voting age to 12 for all, and it would be seen as invidious to allow some 12-year-olds to vote and not others (or to disenfranchise some 60-year-olds).

Then came his course at a polytechnic, studying Trade Union Studies, a mickey mouse course, and he could not handle even that, so dropped out in the first year.

My point here though, is that the Summer of 1988 in Poland did not seem like a grey, harsh financial or economic crisis. I myself was insulated anyway, as a foreigner with a sufficiency of US dollars (which made me locally richer day by day, a “valuta vulture”); but even local Poles seemed, superficially, to get by.
The large outdoor swimming pools were well-attended, the cafes too. I recall drinking some (far too many) excellent Polish bottled beers with a member of the Border Guards, in an outdoor terrace bar situated in a kind of ruined castle overlooking a street in the centre of the town of Bielsko-Biala:
It was clear on my first visit in 1988 that Poland was in economic difficulties, but “crisis? what crisis?” was also a reasonable position to take, looking around.

I was just thinking about what my thoughts might be were I a foreign citizen thinking of visiting the UK for business or pleasure, or indeed were I a British expat visiting the UK for any reason, if I were told that, on arrival in the UK, I would have to “self-isolate” in my hotel, short-term rental, or wherever else, for 2 weeks!
What business trip would be of such importance that it would justify two full weeks of house arrest? Personal business? It is 30 years since I passed an exam in US Federal Law (as part of the New York Bar Exam), so I am no authority on this, but I can see the way things are going. Here (above) is a link to that article. It is very true about Wikipedia. I like and use Wikipedia a great deal, but it is very blinkered on certain topics, among which is the so-called “holocaust” fable. Many of Wikipedia’s editors (mostly unpaid volunteers) are Jews (especially American Jews).

It is alarming. For example, Devon and Cornwall Police: “On 1 April, Devon and Cornwall Police released a statement saying that, regardless of the guidance from both the National Police Chiefs’ Council and the College of Policing, it would not be changing its position on people travelling by car to a place for exercise. ‘Our interpretation is that it is not reasonable, for the majority, to drive miles to a specific place such as a beauty spot. It is also not within the spirit of what we are trying to achieve if you drive from Devon to the coast of Cornwall for surfing, regardless of whether that is “lawful” or not.’”
In other words, the Devon and Cornwall Police, among others, are going to try to “interpret” the will of the Government, and apply that, regardless of whether that has the force of law or not…

As a child in the early to mid-1960s, I was only ever given Lucozade (the original one, in a large glass bottle with yellow cellophane wrapping) when unwell. It was thought to aid recovery and maybe it did, because it was indeed high in glucose. Where the tweeter above goes wrong is in saying that Lucozade caused obesity. Hardly. Most children only had about 2 bottles a year, if that!
I see people like that on Twitter daily, the ones who think of themselves as thinking people, often (as in her case) socialist or rather pseudo-socialist (well-meaning perhaps, so be it…). They make about 9 silly points for every 1 good point.
Well, the Coronavirus continues to decline (in reality), but the “this is a war, Boris-idiot is our great leader and we are all in it together to defeat the virus” nonsense is, if anything, being promoted even harder, though there is an obviously-growing dissent as well.

Boris-idiot himself is back posing as Prime Minister and, predictably, has taken the easy road of continuing to impose the “lockdown”. No matter the economic damage. No matter the social damage both to individuals and to institutions. No matter the evidence against it.
The police are still enforcing ridiculous so-called “rules” that make no sense:

The decision to open the temporary “Nightingale” hospitals was probably the right one, and the results in terms of construction and fitting-out were impressive for such a brief time, meaning the short time between the decision having been made and the places being ready. However, they now stand as proof that the Coronavirus situation has peaked in the UK.
The London Nightingale, with capacity for 4,000 patients at once, has only admitted about 40 patients altogether, over 3 weeks, and is said to have only about 20 left now, most having recovered and been discharged.
Several other Nightingales have either not been opened officially because of lack of demand, or have closed after having opened with much fanfare.
The death rate in the UK from the virus (supposedly) has fallen sharply, as it has across Europe. The deaths being seen now are probably mostly of people infected as long ago as February.

The UK government has half-trashed the economy already, and for what?
Schools are shut despite the fact that hardly any children under 10 get infected or at least show any symptoms; children and young people are generally little affected;
Very few people under 40 are affected badly enough to need medical help (example: Carrie Symonds, Boris Johnson’s fiancee);

What do we know about protection from Coronavirus?
Speaking in practical terms, that
Frequent washing of hands and lower forearms with soap and water (or gel, if in transit) gives quite good protection, and anyway the best protection available;
Avoid hot crowded places where people breathe or sneeze etc over each other;
Avoid incubator-places such as London Underground trains and stations; nightclubs and pubs too (now closed anyway);
“Social distancing” is pointless beyond a few feet distance; 3 feet is OK in most instances;
Face masks are only useful for doctors, nurses, dentists, barbers etc;
Preventing people from sunbathing, walking, driving around in cars etc is just silly and has no effect on Coronavirus.

The Government should have kept most shops, businesses, schools and recycling centres open. It should not have prevented people doing things that certainly have no effect on transmission: walking in parks, on beaches etc; driving or riding around.
The results of the extreme “lockdown” will not become fully apparent until later in the year. Huge dole queues, businesses going bust all over the place, an even greater rollout of the poverty caused by “Conservative” governments (mainly) over the past decade or so. Also, the increase in deaths from other serious conditions.

In fact, it is instructive to read some of the tweets by the extreme pro-“lockdown” Twitterati. Apart from calling those with dissident views “morons”, “c*nts” etc, these types have obviously not really thought it through: they accept the official narrative, including the “lockdown saves lives” nonsense. Actually, one of the most amazing aspects to all this is to see how compliant are the pseudo-socialists on Twitter. They are willing to say that the Government should have spent more on the NHS since 2010 (despite the fact that funding is by no means the only problem in the NHS), but are unwilling to say that the present Government has made an egregious and massive over-reactive error in dealing with this virus.

Another aspect is that the extreme Twitterati say that anyone who has seen through the “lockdown” scam is so evil that they, if suffering from Coronavirus (or anything else?) should not be afforded medical help. One unexpected bonus arising out of the Coronavirus crisis is that the police are so busy throwing their weight about, shouting at old couples walking on the fells of Northern England, at motorists who have decided to take their cars on —entirely harmless— drives, and at young ladies modestly sunbathing in London parks, that some of their other usual activities have been frozen until somewhere down the line. Not dealing with ordinary (real) crime, such as burglary, bank robbery, or even murder. Those crimes have all but fallen off a cliff during “lockdown”. No, I refer to online social media “crime” and particularly political “crime”.
According to relevant legislation, notably the notorious Communications Act 2003, s.127, and the laws dealing with procedure in the magistrates’ courts, any prosecution for “grossly offensive” tweets or Facebook posts (etc) must be taken (i.e. charge made) within 6 months of complaint to police and/or CPS (there is now also a backstop limitation of 3 years, but that does not over-ride the 6-month limitation which starts to tick once the police and/or CPS have been notified of the alleged crime).
My readers will see the point. Malicious organizations and individuals, mostly Jewish, have fastened upon this bad law and abused it to try to shut down freedom of expression. The disgraced solicitor, Mark Lewis, now resident in Israel (apparently), was a leading figure in such evil abuse of the British legal system.

Well, it seems that, by reason of Coronavirus, the police have a perfect excuse not to do both their proper job (dealing with real crime) —despite the falling-off of crime during the “lockdown”— and also their fairly-recently acquired joke-job (monitoring and censoring comment on social media).
Further to previous comment, the chances are that, at least in respect of socio-political views expressed on Twitter etc, any complaints by (((the usual suspects))) will be filed somewhere right at the back of the priority line, meaning that (bearing in mind the now-glacial work-rate of the CPS and courts) few if any such complaints will make it to a charge within the 6-month usual limitation period. Not so many...” but even if you —naively— assume that no others arrived surreptitiously, that is still about 2,000 in a month, 24,000 in a year. Most are single men. Even if you say that 6 share a house or flat, that’s still 4,000+ dwellings a year unavailable for British people. Same with medical services and everything else. And that is before they pick up English “hoes” (brainwashed into being “non-racist”…) and start to breed with them…Few have any skills in any area that might be of any use here, so they will mostly be on State benefits, inc. housing…

Despite the fact that I consider most of the restrictions now in play nonsense, I shall not be going out for a couple of days, perhaps not until Monday (written on Thursday). In the meantime, here I recount my experience of the outside world as seen yesterday, my first outing for 2 days.
Roads quiet in my little corner of Southern England, but not as empty as they were a week ago. At Waitrose, a long line of “socially-distancing” persons all waiting to be allowed entrance by the black-clad, scarf-wearing Handmaid’s Tale militia (Waitrose marshals). My fault for going early. Go half an hour before close and you can pretty much go straight in.
The shoppers looked fairly ordinary, though there were a few idiots (as I think, anyway) wearing Chinese-style masks and, in one case, medical gloves as well. In the car park…
Inside, once allowed in (as another shopper exited), no great shortage of anything except dried pasta, which I did not need (fortunately, as it was almost all gone again, and again only the unpopular stuff like wholewheat spaghetti left). In fact, this is certainly hoarding behaviour, because there was —again— fresh pasta available aplenty. Flour was mostly gone, as was stuff used in baking bread, such as bicarbonate of soda, yeast etc. Bleach was unavailable in large containers, only the spray stuff.
Everything else formerly in short supply because of panic-buying or bulk-buying was available: bread, eggs (restricted to one pack per customer), loo paper, kitchen roll, lemons. Not much chicken left. I myself was buying mainly bread, kitchen roll (restricted to one pack) and things you need for Indian dinners: Madras, Korma and other curry pastes, Patak’s Lime Pickle, poppadums, coconut cream, chutney etc. No real shortage, though most of the rice had gone.

I could hardly believe my ears! Actions going well beyond even the repressive “instant tyranny” of the new overnight Coronavirus Act. “Leading beyond authority”? A typical Common Purpose drone. The Government (UK) has decided to keep the lockdown going, possibly until May or even later. That despite the fact that proven Coronavirus cases have not been so numerous. In fact, there is a steady decline in new cases. My theory is that, with the person currently posing as Prime Minister in hospital, his Cabinet colleagues are unwilling to take the responsibility for ending the “house arrest of the British people”.
All the same, that “house arrest” has to be ended, and soon. The damage done to the UK economy may already be close to terminal. The EU economies too:

For years, I have been writing and speaking about 2022, the most significant year since 1989. In 2022, 33 years will have passed since the fall of socialism. From 2022, a new ideology must replace both old-style socialism (including social democracy) and globalist finance-capitalism and its political excrescences.
As far as the UK is concerned, there will never be so opportune a time for social-national politics and para-politics as from now, through 2022, and on from there. It has been said by some, by me too, that as things stand, politics, ordinary politics, start a party and get elected politics, holds out little prospect of success for us.

We know that that gradual invasion means that our sort of politics is always fighting its way uphill. The faster breeding rate of the non-Europeans adds yet another factor. On the other hand, even England is still about 85% “white” (European), despite the fact that some major cities are no longer majority non-white.
If the economy of the world goes into recession or even depression, the political realm will be changed out of recognition. Look at how, after 10 years of lying “there is no money” fake “austerity”, even a “Conservative” government has suddenly thrown open its coffers. Desperate times betoken desperate measures. The most radical ideologies may soon seem plausible to desperate and struggling people.
Politics, for us, is about people, about the race and, beyond even the race, the future race we wish to create.

1989: the fall of all kinds of socialism and even social democracy worldwide, inc. effective fall of the Soviet Union (officially 1991), fall of Berlin Wall, Chinese transition to full capitalism behind “Communist” facade; Cuba becomes effectively private enterprise after 1989; also, the NWO/Israeli attack on the powerful states of the Arab world starts in Iraq; in the UK, the end of Thatcher’s rule leads to Labour Party abandonment of “socialism” even in its party constitution;

Hitchens is of course right here. The economy of the UK, of the EU, of much of the world, cannot in fact be shut down indefinitely without almost everyone in this country starving to death eventually. A “lockdown” must of necessity be temporary. The first question is “how temporary?”
The problem with comparing the Coronavirus situation in the UK to that obtaining in USA, Sweden, Italy, China etc is that
every country has different demographics, lifestyles, transport, health services etc;
every country is collecting statistics differently (e.g. as to what is a “Coronavirus” death in the first place): to take a reductio ad absurdum example, if someone has flu and Coronavirus, is his/her death from Coronavirus or simply with Coronavirus? What about if someone has Coronavirus, feels unwell and, perhaps even as a result, crashes his/her car and dies?;
every country has a different level of testing in place. Some test only those in hospital, some test medical staff, some (e.g. the UK until now at least) test hardly anyone.
The result is that, in looking at “the statistics”, we are comparing apples and oranges.

Just watched the above-named documentary. The main character was Alexandra Tolstoy [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexandra_Tolstoy], an adventuress of several sorts, married to but estranged from Sergei Pugachev [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergei_Pugachev], a former “banker” and criminal “businessman”, who is now on the [Russian] wanted list for having allegedly made off with about a billion US dollars’ worth of State assets.
Pugachev is in fact a slightly unusual Russian gangster-businessman, in that he really is Russian (not Jew or whatever). Looks like a “tough guy”, but if the question is whether to bet on a exiled tough guy or the Russian state, I know where my money is going…
Oddly enough, I once met the father of Alexandra Tolstoy, who is the interesting writer Nikolai Tolstoy, a former cavalry officer of the British Army [perhaps so only briefly; Wikipedia says nothing of it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikolai_Tolstoy]. As for my impression of the lady in the documentary, perhaps I should not say, but after all she did volunteer to be judged by the TV public…Well, to me she seems as thick as two short planks, for one thing. Alexandra Tolstoy seems to want us to feel sorry for her, though she could well have simply continued to live in a beautiful belle epoque place on the Cote d’Azur, with her children, and her husband (and his guard force). I have seen too many people really suffering in the UK and elsewhere (including the former Soviet Union) from lack of quite modest funds to feel sorry for a woman who has a “cottage” (actually a quite decent modest house) in middle England, not to mention her parents’ place, a nice house in a pleasant part of Oxfordshire with an outside swimming pool (the pool was not shown in the documentary).
I certainly do not believe that she is in any danger at all from Putin or the Russian state. If she herself felt in danger, she would not now be once again running tours to the former Soviet republics in Central Asia, and herself visiting those republics.
Pugachev? He may be in more danger. There are warrrants out for him in Russia, and if he sets foot in the UK, a warrant for his committal to prison (for 2 years) for contempt of a High Court order. Coronavirus— the exit strategy
Or to put it another way, what exit strategy? It is one thing to say to people, “stay inside except for a few closely-defined outings for a few weeks“, and quite another to say “stay inside your homes for several months, and if you dare to come out even to spend an hour walking in a national park, or on the beach, or sunbathing harmlessly in a largely empty park, or driving on an empty motorway, the police will stop you, question you, fine you and may fine you as much as £1,000“…
How long is this “lockdown” going to be sustainable? I see that even the msm outlets are beginning to ask the question now.
If someone has a country estate, or even a sizeable ordinary detached suburban or smaller rural house, perhaps with gardens, a swimming pool, a tennis court, an orangerie, a vegetable garden, “staying home” is not so hard to do. For the majority of the population, stuck in small houses, flats etc, perhaps with children or bored teenagers, this “lockdown” is a house arrest which cannot continue indefinitely. At some point, before long, the Government is going to have to announce a relaxation and then an end, before people start to ignore the restrictions.

Of course, it can always be said that “the successes must be kept secret”. Perhaps, but I have little doubt that many failures are also kept secret (aka “covered up”).

There was supposed to be legal action launched (at latest) by January 2020. So far, nothing.
Well, here we are pretty much at the end of February. Stuchbery and “AntiFashWitch” Roanna Carleton-Taylor (and their “full legal team”, meaning a Pakistani in a back room in a North of England rustbelt town) have still not launched the threatened legal action (or even served the preliminary paperwork) against Tommy Robinson/Stephen Yaxley-Lennon.
It looks as though, as I blogged weeks and even months ago, Stuchbery, Roanna and the Pakistani have reached “peak mug”. No-one now wants to donate to their doomed lawsuit. Only £5 has been donated to the GoFundMe appeal in over a week, and over the past month or so, only £80 has come in.

I am not sure quite why, but despite the brevity of today’s blog so far (I am going to combine it with tomorrow’s), my blog pages have had more visitors today than on any other day in the 3 years since I started: over 600 views (349 of this page alone), from over 300 visitors. All in about 4 hours or so, and with nearly 7 hours to run (time now is just after 1700 hrs). More than twice the usual number of views and visitors. A strange statistical anomaly.

I notice that, I having been mentioned by Stuchbery on his Twitter account, all sorts of odd people and natural “followers” have started to tweet things about me, often inaccurate. Example? That I was a member of the British Movement in the 1970s. No, I never was, though I believe that I did briefly exchange a couple of not entirely friendly letters with the leader of the BM, Michael McLaughlin [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_McLaughlin]. 1978, I think.
It is a characteristic of Twitter that many remoras follow each shark. Thus today the Twitter “followers” of Stuchbery support him by tweeting against me. A few examples seen:
a minor author (very minor) says that I feel entitled to “judge” Stuchbery because (she says) I have “a History A Level”. I suppose that that is a guess on her part (and she herself purports to “judge” me merely because a few “antifa” idiots tweet rubbish about me);
some idiot says that I am a “disbarred solicitor” (actually, barrister, not solicitor; and solicitors are in any case not “disbarred” but “struck off”;
some ugly cow tweets that I “have issues” and adds, by way of proving that assertion, that I made a typo somewhere, typing “lawter” instead of “lawyer”;
another one tweets that I am “far far right” (in fact, I never use the lazy terms “right” and “left”). That one also tweets, illogically, “ignore…report”! To whom will you “report” me, anyway? I am not on Twitter and my blog is hosted by WordPress, an excellent American organization wedded to the principles of freedom of expression. The woman wanting me to be both ignored and “reported” seems to be part-Danish and living in Belgium. Judgment poor…
I am called “a typical embittered internet nonentity” by, er, a typical Twitter nonentity called “Spex, @_Hydrofish”, who has all of 135 Twitter followers (I had 3,000 when the Jewish lobby had me expelled);
“@WigNatKing” asserts that I work for “TR News”, the Tommy Robinson setup. No. Not only do I not work for TR News, but have never had contact with it and do not, as such, “support” Tommy Robinson.
These people are beyond sad…Their whole day is made up of tweeting to others of similar views, while denouncing and “reporting” those with whom they disagree (or those with whom they think that they disagree) to Twitter. For such people, Twitter is terribly important. Fools, mostly.
Incidentally, Stuchbery may claim that my existence has just been “brought to his attention”, but I think not. However, he has, by mentioning my blog on his Twitter output, just increased considerably the numbers of those reading my stuff. “One human soul is a big audience”, as someone or other (St. Thomas Aquinas?) once said.
As for Stuchbery talking about defamation etc (a trait that he shares with quite a few other —mostly ignorant— persons on Twitter), he not only will not sue me (nor will he sue anyone else) in defamation, but cannot (for a number of reasons). He was ranting or bleating about suing a load of Danes, in Denmark, recently (and demanding to know names of suitable libel lawyers in that jurisdiction, despite being entirely unable to pay any retained).
Someone should write a dystopian sci-fi novel in which a malefic organization sets up something akin to Twitter, convinces people that it is pretty much the most important thing in the world, then manages to deflect any discontent in the self-describing “aware” population to that platform.
In that non-existent novel, the “aware” or “woke” or “liberal” (and indeed “illiberal” and pro-multikulti) people then spend almost all of their time on “Twitter” or whatever, thinking that they are achieving something, showing off, virtue-signalling, not to forget denouncing “bad folk” on the platform, and (very important to those idiots) getting the controllers of the platform to expel those with whom the “aware” people disagree. Meanwhile, the real rulers and influencers carry on ruling and influencing, and the poor Twitter saps are entirely unaware of it.

Saw a 30-min doc. about the Security Service, presented by ITV’s Security correspondent, an Indian or South African Indian (I think) called something like Karroo. Irritating that supposed journalists now say things such as “Director-Generals” when they mean “Directors-General” (Laura Kuenssberg did it the other day: “Secretary of States”, when she meant “Secretaries of State”).
As to the film itself, interesting without being very enlightening. The most interesting bare fact was that MI5 has doubled its staff numbers in the past decade.
Hunted
Saw Hunted, a TV show I quite like, which involves fugitives and a hunter force. Somewhat contrived, as it would have to be to work at all, but good entertainment.
One of the fugitives had to go to Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, where I myself, aged 20-something, was supposed to be met in the market square at 0900 hrs once, about 40 years ago. Misjudging the distance and how long it would take me to get there overnight from Central London (without a car), I was there far too early, by about 0300!
I was soon found in the deserted and cold square by the friendly local police patrolman, who strolled around on his beat talking to me and telling me all about the local crime situation (there was a little crime, surprisingly— someone had tried a smash-and-grab not very long before; a few weeks before; arrested). His inspector arrived at one point, examined my “papers” (as they say in some countries) and had an equally friendly chat with me for a while before saluting and going back, as I supposed, to his police station. My people did arrive, dead on time at 0900 hrs. Moral? Early is nearly as bad as late when it comes to rendezvous.
Tom Watson

Coronavirus
Seems to be still spreading, expanding its range. Italy hard hit. I saw a graphic recently re. personal hygiene, washing hands etc in various countries of Europe. Italy was at or near the bottom of the scale. That may well be significant.
My Australian niece has just returned to London from Venice. She went there for the carnival, only to find most events cancelled. This is getting serious. We are told that 80% of people who get the virus have symptoms so mild that no medical help is required. However, that still leaves 20% who do require at least some help. About 2% of the whole are dying. If it became widespread in the UK and affected, say, a million people, that would mean that 20,000 would die and another 180,000 would require NHS help.
How would the already-overstretched NHS cope? Probably not at all well. The tabloid Press has behaved with its usual panic-stricken lack of caution, predicting half a million deaths in the UK:
The hope seems to be that this virus is more virulent in colder weather, meaning that, with the arrival of Spring and Summer across Europe and Asia, its effect overall may be blunted. Let us hope so.

Not bad, but not a great fortune. Before Suits, she had only a few lucrative one-off roles, paying much less than USD $200,000 a year gross, so in pounds sterling about £100,000 net per year. Her worth, in money terms, when she met Harry? About £1.2M, minus whatever she spent in those 6 years. She probably had about half a million pounds or so. Again, not bad, but a rather small fortune.
Now look! We are told that she “and Harry” have possibilities of commercial deals in the tens or even hundreds of millions. The Mulatta is not the only adventuress in world history, and Harry is not the only [well, you decide].

Latest opinion poll. Conservatives still very high (47%) and slightly up on previous poll by same organization. Labour slightly down on 31%. LibDems 9%. I never take as serious anything under 5%. That lets out Greens and “Brexit Party” (which I am surprised still registers at all).
So far, in the rigged FPTP system, Cons are still high because Labour is still hopeless, not on Con merit, which is non-existent. The “Conservative” regime of little tyrant Boris-idiot has in fact already shown its lack of nous, but in a basically binary system is yet ahead of Labour. It may be that over time people will wake up to this stupid “government”, but that time has not yet arrived.
I blogged previously about how Boris-idiot is no good in a crisis. That is becoming obvious: flood situation, coronavirus etc, but whatever happens, this government is there for 2, 3, even nearly 4 years, and sits there unchallenged.

To what sort of society does that lead? Not only can no better society be created with such material, but even the existing reasonably civilized society (that Britain had in the 1970s or 1980s and of which remnants still exist) cannot be maintained.
