I have to admit that I have always found the idea of secret tunnels quite compelling. The KGB had a specific directorate specializing in tunnelling, though one finds little printed about it.
In the case of the Gaza tunnels, we are told that they extend for more miles overall than the London Underground, which has 250 miles of track, much of which, however, is overground. About 110 miles of the London Underground is actually below ground-level.
On that basis, only a small part, maybe 5-10 miles, or <10%, of the Gaza tunnels have been explored or destroyed by the invading Israeli forces so far. Information is obviously being restricted at present.
It makes me wonder whether similar tunnels do not also penetrate Israeli state territory from Lebanon or elsewhere, tunnels perhaps so far underground that they are undetectable.

The Internet makes mock of many things, and the various “little Britain” things especially. The overall situation, however, is not new.
In the 1930s, the public of the USA, France, Germany etc were aware, if interested at all, that Edward VIII was involved with a Mrs. Simpson. In Britain and its colonies, though, that was kept secret (from the British public) until 1937 (to be exact, from December 1936).
In the 1980s, similar situations arose. In the early 1980s, I was told that, at a State banquet held at the Banqueting House in Whitehall for an important Soviet delegation, and attended by someone I knew, the leader of the Soviet group said to a British minister how sad it was that former Prime Minister, Harold Wilson [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Wilson], had become completely demented (Alzheimer’s, or similar). Apparently, the British minister nodded sagely before changing the subject.
So the Soviet Government knew, the British Government knew, but of course the British public did not know.
Meanwhile, in the rest of the world, those interested in the rather underwhelming book could buy it and read it without let or hindrance. Absurdly, the same was true in Scotland, because Scotland has its own legal system and the British Government had not thought to apply for any restrictions in that jurisdiction.
I myself had a copy of the book soon after publication. Not a total bore but not exactly riveting either. Had the Government simply let Wright, the author, sell the book without all the publicity occasioned by the attempt to ban it, it would never have become a bestseller. As it was, millions of copies were sold, and Wright died, possessed of huge royalties, in 1995.
In fact, had the Government paid Wright his full pension at an earlier stage, he never would have written the book, or at least published it.
Now we have the Internet. Anyone with, say, a Twitter/X account can publish or republish under their own name, or a pseudonym. The English courts are unable to prevent —and/or in most cases even punish— any breach of injunction, certainly not before millions of people around the world have seen the material.

At the same time, in the UK itself, almost nothing works properly: the migration-invasion continues, people generally are getting ripped-off right, left, and centre, living costs continue to increase relative to both pay and benefits, the NHS is at best now a skeleton service, and the schools and supposed “universities” are churning out “highly-qualified” (thanks to award inflation) “graduates” who know, most of them, ****-all.

David Davis is one of the very few MPs for whom I have any time (albeit with reservations). Britain might have been in a better place had he, and not David Cameron-Levita-Schlumberger, become leader of the Conservative Party. He has always struck me as basically honest and decent.
Come to think of it, were Davis —even now, aged 74— to stand for the Con Party leadership against Rishi Sunak, he might have a serious chance.

In my view, Lewis Goodall has missed the point. Recent polling has made plain that the majority, indeed nearly 70%, of those planning on voting for Reform UK have no expectation of Reform UK winning in their own constituencies, or maybe in any constituency. True, but frankly I very much doubt that Starmer, in hock to the Jewish/Israel lobby, and who went down on one knee before the black mob of “Black Lives Matter”, will be able to do much better, even if he gets his 200, 300, or even 500-seat, House of Commons majority.

“Vladimir Putin could resort to deploying nuclear weapons in his war against Ukraine if the Russian despot feels his forces face defeat on the battlefield, a retired US Army Brigadier General has warned.
Kevin Ryan, who served as Chief of Staff for the Army’s Space and Missile Defence Command, said nuclear war is an ‘entirely feasible’ option for Putin if Ukrainian forces make gains on the battlefield and even retake captured territory like Crimea.
Ryan, who also served as the Defence Attaché to Russia, said Moscow is not just at war with Ukraine, but with the West too – and it’s for this reason Putin is much more likely to see the use of tactical nuclear weapons as ‘prudent deterrence’.
‘The exploding of a nuclear weapon inside Ukraine may seem like “overkill” in a war against Ukraine, but in a war against the West, it could be seen as prudent deterrence,’ Ryan tells MailOnline.”

In reality, our society, and our political system, would collapse into chaos long before the population even reached 100M. Perhaps that is what will happen. If so, the most resilient British survivors may then have to “wade through slaughter to a throne“, in the words of Gray’s Elegy.
The USA may still have enormous military-destructive power, but internally is in a state of near-collapse in terms of the quality of its population. Imagine what it will be like there in 50 years, or even 20.
