What Case now proves is Starmer specifically took the decision to appoint Mandelson without any proper due diligence at all, directly against the advice of his officials. Even though he was a major national security risk. Then lied about it. How is that not a resignation issue.
The local elections are to be held in only 17 days’ time. If Starmer-stein steps down as Labour leader now, or maybe even more if he also steps down as Prime Minister, Labour will be toast. I cannot see a general election being called before 2029, mainly because Labour has 403 MPs at present, but after a general election might well have fewer than 100 and quite possibly fewer than 50. As for the Conservative Party, its 116 MPs would also decline in number, quite likely below 50. Neither main System party has an incentive to support an early general election, and that applies especially to Labour.
I am inclined to think that Labour MPs might prefer for Starmer to absorb the flak of the plainly-upcoming 7 May debacle; the question is, will Starmer just bale out beforehand? “William Willis (September 8, 1893 – July 1968) was an American sailor and writer who is famous due to his solo rafting expeditions across oceans.
Willis became a sailor at 15, leaving his home in Hamburg, Germany, to sail around Cape Horn.[1]
A few days after the New Year in 1938, Willis rented a room in New York City from a French immigrant named Madame Carnot. Her son, Bernard Carnot, had been sent to Devil’s Island in 1922 for a murder that he did not commit. Out of compassion and a sense of adventure, Willis set out to the penal colony to effect Bernard Carnot’s escape, which he eventually accomplished.
During his first solo expedition in 1954 from South America to American Samoa, he sailed 6,700 miles – 2,200 miles farther than did Thor Heyerdahl on Kon-Tiki. His raft was named “Seven Little Sisters” and was crewed by himself, his parrot, and cat. Willis was age 61 at the time of this voyage. He selected the seven great balsa tree trunks which were used in the raft (hence the name Seven Little Sisters) himself at a balsa forest on a great inland estate. His wife saw him off at the dockside in Callao, Peru. In an incident with the raft in the docks the day before sailing, Willis suffered a hernia,[2] but nonetheless set sail as planned.
In a second great voyage ten years later, at the age of 71, he sailed 10,000 miles from South America to Australia single-handing a 34-foot (10.4 m) raft named Age Unlimited. He left Callao on 5 July 1963, made a lengthy stop in Apia, and after a total of 204 days at sea, arrived near Tully Heads, Queensland, completing his voyage on 9 September 1964.[3][4]
At age 74, Willis made his third attempt at a solo crossing of the North Atlantic in a small sailboat. Willis left Montauk Point, Long Island on May 2, 1968, in his boat Little One. On September 24, 1968, the crew of the Soviet Latvian trawler Yantarny sighted his half-submerged boat nearly four hundred miles west of the Irish coast. No one was found on board. Willis’ log was found on the boat, with its last entry dated July 21, 1968.“

Actually, from the Israeli point of view, the “crime” of the Palestinian Arab operatives on 7 October 2023 was not the killing of hundreds of Jewish revellers and military personnel (many of which were actually killed by Israeli forces, implementing free-fire protocols, anyway), but to have successfully invaded “Israeli” territory. That pierced the Israeli feeling of invulnerability.
I admit that I myself was taken by surprise; I would previously have doubted that the Arabs could pull off an operation like that (and keep the plans secret).

A few extra thoughts about Mandelson, Epstein, and the whole Jew-lobby scandal at and around Starmer-stein’s government

Second thought: how useless is MI5, that they seem either to have been unaware of the Mandelson and Epstein connection or, far more likely, were unwilling to rock the political boat? Same goes for SIS, incidentally.

Anti-Reform tactical voters will have to decide which party is more likely to be able to defeat Reform. Either Labour or the Greens. Polls presently put Labour ahead of the Greens, but that may not reflect feeling among those actually going to vote.

I should be interested to know the composition of the jury. I dare say that, had this been an American trial (which could never happen anyway, by reason of the U.S. Constitutional free speech protections), there would be a jury selection process enabling the defence lawyers to object to, for example, blacks, women, certain football supporters, people who are fans of the “victims” etc. None of that happens now in England.

Yes. That is a very partial view. Fresh vegetables and fruits, when available, were unrationed. Some vegetables were abundant and actually had to be promoted by ads; potato, carrot etc. Fresh fish was unrationed (though in short supply), and bread was unrationed until after the war. Beer was unrationed, when available.
Naturally, the people who lived on country estates were best-placed to weather rationing. Game birds, and fish, were unrationed, and people living on a country estate would have ready access to eggs and other foodstuffs (and of course could grow fruits and vegetables in kitchen gardens or fields). Such people would also often have extensive wine cellars, so would have been able to drink French (and German!) wines bought before 1940.
I recall that the Cornish country house of which I had a lease (about 22 or so years ago) had quite large wine cellars (unstocked when I was there) which brought to mind the horror film adaptations of the works of Edgar Allan Poe:

Nuts, berries etc would also have been available.
The big shortage would have been butter (olive oil was all but unknown to most British people in the 1930s and 1940s and anyway unavailable). Sugar was another big shortage, of course.

Isn’t “democracy” wonderful? The people of Filton (Bristol) kicked out the former MP, Jack Lopresti (Conservative Friends of Israel), a thick one-time Italian ice-cream salesman, only to be saddled with “young and aspiring” Claire Hazelgrove (Labour Friends of Israel).
At 36 (37 next week), Claire Hazelgrove may be young-ish, but not, as far as I can see, very idealistic, and she obviously aspires to get as much money for herself as she can, though she has pledged not to take outside work (if offered, which is unlikely).
As to her “career” to date, nothing appears. Born in 1988, she read politics at the University of York, did a post-grad year at Bath, after which she seems to have done not very much. Her academic time must have ended in or about 2013. Then there appears to be a gap for about a decade until the General Election of 2024.
Even Claire Hazelgrove’s own website makes no mention at all of her having ever had any kind of job or work except vague “campaigning”: https://clairehazelgrove.co.uk/about/. She is described (by herself), rather ludicrously and self-importantly, as “an experienced campaigner and changemaker“.

Stray thought on a hot day
In such a hot season as we now have in southern England, there is always, and now is, a plague of some kind of flying ants. I dislike killing anything (even “weeds”, noxious insects etc), but there are times when one just has to steel oneself, get the insecticide, and try to eliminate the nests of the flying ants, while also directly crushing stray insects that pop up.

I can smell the “diversity” from here… either the two blacks are “boat people” or (more likely) are just part of the “multicultural” “diversity” rabble which has overrun London, among other cities, for decades.

Even a 10-week sentence is now really 4 weeks, and may soon be 2 weeks. If that…
I was just looking at a local newspaper report. Someone (with 145 “previous”!) was sentenced to 10 weeks for similar crimes. Point proven. The prisons are full for several reasons, but anyway mostly full of blacks and browns, rather than real British people. Not entirely, but mostly, looking at proportions etc.
