Historical note

On 20 July 1944, military and civilian backstabbers, with varying motives, attempted to kill Adolf Hitler, and to take up the reins of state in the German Reich.

The plotters varied both in their motives and behaviour, some principled and, at least in their own minds, patriots of a sort, others unprincipled and/or out-and-out traitors. Some exhibited courage, others cowardice.

History is not black and white; it must be open to discussion, dissent, and revision, which is one reason why the quasi-mediaeval laws banning such revision in several EU and other countries (sub nom “holocaust” “denial” laws) are so wrong.

Today is only the 19th of July, but I may not publish a blog post tomorrow; we shall see.

One of the biggest problems Australia has always had, especially since the retirement of Sir Robert Menzies [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Menzies] has been the very poor quality of its senior (and other) politicians.

Menzies, above all, supported suitable European immigration to Australia after WW2, but opposed non-European immigration, a wise dual-aspect policy that was changed by and after Gough Whitlam’s government of the 1970s. Disastrous.

I recall a prison escape by bank robbers in the 1970s, in Leicestershire. When recaptured, one of the robbers was seen to have had the s**t kicked out of him, his face black and blue. Believe it or not, he was then charged with “criminal damage to a police boot” (using his face or head)! Talk about adding insult to injury.

I have no idea whether that ludicrous charge was later dropped. Maybe. Things like that happened sometimes in the days when the police were the charging authorities, i.e. before the Crown Prosecution Service was invented (1986).

Incidentally, my own (and only) contact with the underwhelming Essex Police was in 2017, when the usual malicious “Campaign Against Antisemitism” Jew-Zionist(s) made a typically false/malicious complaint against me. It went nowhere, of course (though was inconvenient…so the bastards owe me one…not the only one, though).

Dale’s discussion there reminded me of the “Mrs Duffy moment” that sank Gordon Brown at the 2010 General Election. Both Brown and Dale refuse to see what is right in front of all our noses. Who, in that radio discussion, is the “dinosaur“? Dale, I think. Either dinosaur or cliche ostrich, head in the sand.

Does Dale have any idea about what is happening in the country, the UK, on which he purports to comment?

Incidentally, the appalling behaviour of many Afghan men (especially) is not confined to the Taliban; indeed, some of the Taliban are better than some of the others.

“THE heartbroken family of a man with Alzheimer’s say they feel ‘betrayed’ after a woman they employed to care for him stole ‘treasured’ and ‘irreplaceable’ items from the family home.

Rachel Goodman, who has a similar previous conviction, was said to have ‘exploited the family’s vulnerability in the most callous way possible’ after she admitted stealing sentimental items.

The defendant avoided immediate jail time when she was sentenced at Weymouth Magistrates Court.

Goodman, 54, was employed by Louise Woollam to care for her husband Richard, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, at their home in Shillingstone, near Blandford.

A court heard how the incident had such an impact on the family that Mr Woollam, a former RAF pilot, had to be placed in a care home.

The court heard Goodman stole items such as a diamond engagement ring which belonged to Mrs Woollam’s mother, earrings brought for Mrs Woollam by her husband, sunglasses, a watch, a snorkel, bedding, a throw, money – and a 250-year-old family heirloom.

Goodman, of Eastland Road, Yeovil, has 13 previous convictions, which includes conning an elderly woman out of £3,500 and for which she received a suspended sentence.

A victim impact statement read out in court by prosecutor, Christina Norgan, on behalf of Mrs Woollam, said: “My trust and security has been completely shattered by Rachel Goodman. Alzheimer’s is a cruel disease which has already taken so much from us.

“She exploited our vulnerability in the most callous way possible. I could not go to work as I could not trust another carer in my home. I feel betrayed and broken-hearted.”

Kenny Sharp, mitigating, said: “Maximum credit for an early guilty plea. This is a person who is struggling to come to terms with the reality of what she did. Immediate custody would have a significant impact on her two children.“

The defendant was handed a 12-month custodial sentence suspended for two years. She must also complete 12 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement days and 200 hours of unpaid work.“

Stray thought

Dan Hodges seems to have forgotten (assuming that he ever knew) that, in the Soviet Union, in Stalin’s day and even afterward, ordinary criminals were often treated better than “politicals”.

In any case, the “police state” aspect in question is not Hodges’ “early release” red herring but the incarceration of people for minor disorder, or for tweeting comments etc.

The present UK situation is similar (don’t forget Starmer’s extreme pseudo-socialist ideological background): the real criminals are being released after having served only 40% —with other measures in place, as little as 20%— of their headline sentences, but —by any other name— political, or treated as political, prisoners are being swiftly incarcerated, and are being more harshly sentenced as well.

Incidentally, not only those convicted following the recent protests and/or “riots” (nb. I myself do not consider saying “boo!” to a police riot squad operative, pushing at his plastic shield, looting a sausage-roll shop, or even overturning the odd police car, a “riot” nor indeed a “political protest” as such).

A while ago, I read that a young man had served his entire headline sentence (6 years, I think), having been convicted on one of those trumped-up bs pseudo-“terrorism” charges the UK police and Clown Prosecution Service seem to love today (they often involve an accusation that the accused shared some or another “terrorist” material online, and at the same time owned completely lawful objects such as copies of Mein Kampf or a picture of Hitler; random pieces of circumstantial “evidence” put in to bamboozle a typical low-IQ rubber-stamp “British” jury).

More broadly, the lack of real knowledge of history is widespread now. As G.K. Chesterton said, he feared the uneducated less than he feared the badly-educated.

I was just watching a recorded episode of The Chase [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chase_(British_game_show)], first broadcast some years ago.

The “Chaser”, Jenny Ryan [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jenny_Ryan], fluffed the question “which of these three was first to be named as Time magazine Man of the Year in 1923?“, the three being Mussolini, Hitler, or Stalin.

I thought Mussolini (because of the October 1922 March on Rome, after which Mussolini became Prime Minister), and that turned out to be the correct answer. However, it occurred to me that there was at least a possibility that the correct answer would be Hitler (because of the Beer Hall Putsch of November 1923).

That horrible greedy farmer who badly damaged the River Lugg a couple of years ago has been released from prison, having served only 2-3 months of an already-lenient 10-month sentence.

A good example of how weak the justice system now is. Some flexibility is good, but when convicts are only serving a quarter of a prison sentence, and when that sentence is often inadequate to start with, the system itself starts to break down, as does society.

There seems to be only one solution for the Afghan[istan] problem, meaning to delete and start anew, from tabula rasa. The British, Russians, Americans and British (again) failed in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. The people want clean efficient government, in fact quite a few want (unconsciously) a less “Germanic” form of national socialism, or even national near-“communism”, as problems abound with cost of living, housing, crime, migration-invasion, huge inequality etc.

Alison Chabloz

Usually-reliable sources report that, though still incarcerated at Bronzefield Prison (near Heathrow), Alison is in excellent spirits.

Alison has apparently just been transferred to a different wing of the prison. She has a cell of her own, which contains, inter alia, a new mattress and a television which receives 30 channels, as well as all UK radio stations.

Alison’s cell door remains open all day, she can come and go as she pleases, and can shower, or go out for fresh air, whenever she wants.

One amusing point: it seems that a prisoner recognized Alison from last year and that, as a result, Alison was introduced to a number of other prisoners, who asked her to perform her songs. This resulted in what perhaps could be described as a general “sing-song”, the prisoners singing along with Alison. Pity that it could not have been filmed and distributed on social media. That would have made “you know who” (((s))) fume!

In other Alison Chabloz news, her upcoming trial has been deferred to a later date. It had been set down for today, 1 September 2021, with a time estimate of one day. That date was vacated recently. Now it seems that the trial will be held on a later date, if the matter proceeds at all.

Farthing did not “abandon” his Afghan staff. They were not allowed into the airport area. That was the decision either of the US Army, or of the Taliban. Yes, Farthing could have stayed in Kabul. That would have meant suffering and death for those 200 animals, possibly for him too, possibly for the Afghan staff of the charity (and yes, they are still in that same peril, but no worse peril because of his departure).

Farthing took a decision to save those he could. Easy to criticize someone faced with an impossible choice. MSM scribblers should take a wider view, not just be conduits for official propaganda.

As I thought yesterday, and before, this evil stupid government is trying to scapegoat Farthing for weeks, months, even years of shambolic British Government incompetence. Absolutely absurd, and absolutely disgusting.

Oh, and lookee here: expenses cheat and corrupt bastard ex-minister David Gauke (completely in the pocket of the Jewish/Israel lobby) decides to call the rescue of cats and dogs “sentimentality”.

Expenses freeloader Gauke was lucky not to have been exposed in the 2020 appeal of one of Alison Chabloz’s cases, an appeal that she won, in effect, when the CPS declined to provide disclosure of documents relating to how Gauke and/or others had been influenced behind the scenes by the fanatical Jew-Zionist pressure group, “Campaign Against Antisemitism” [“CAA”].

When the CPS declined to show the appeal judge [H.H. Judge Egbuna, sitting at Derby Crown Court] the documentation, the CPS response to Alison Chabloz’s appeal was abandoned and the conviction quashed (she had, at a much earlier stage, been released from prison on bail pending the appeal. She was in prison for 3-4 days, after having been sentenced by a magistrate).

After that, the “CAA” were desperate to “get” Alison Chabloz by making malicious complaints and, eventually, they did get her (she has, at time of writing, now again been in prison for two weeks), but that is another story.

Kabul is a city which I have never visited, in a country which I have never visited. I have only met a relatively few people who have actually been there (whether before its post-1978 troubles, during the years of Soviet occupation, or more recently, during the past 20 years of Western control or partial control).

Late thoughts about Pen Farthing and his critics

In my view, the supporters of Pen Farthing and the cats and dogs rescued are those who, in general, have their hearts in the right place. The critics and (if you like) “haters” of Pen Farthing seem to be mostly cruel, callous nobodies, often posing as great humanitarians (online Twitter-twit squad).

A man who served in the Royal Marines for decades, with final rank of sergeant. I do not claim that all Royal Marines are heroes, but I should doubt that many are cowards.

Twitter is now largely the comfort zone of the crazed, those with mental problems, and those without any real principles or ideology to speak of. Many are pathetic virtue-signallers, some are trying to make a impact on the other nuts who tweet.

Twitter is still of use as illustrative material (as used on my blog), but not as a serious ideas exchange. Also, the (often mentally-disturbed) “antifascist” idiots and/or Jew-Zionists have had most serious thinkers expelled from Twitter.

For me, from what I have read and seen in the past week (I had not known of him before that), Pen Farthing is someone who has been trying, against the odds, to help animals and people, and who has found himself up against large-scale situations, and large and uncaring organizations and agendas: US forces, a US government shamefully fleeing and leaving its allies in the lurch, Taliban barbarians, mass panic at a shambolic airport, a UK government trying to limit the domestic political fallout, and a UK mass media which both wants a story and is trying to give covering fire to a badly-prepared, chaotic UK government.

Maybe Pen Farthing did shout threats at a UK minister’s adviser. The bastard weasel probably deserved that, and maybe more.

The same goes for the UK governmental and diplomatic bureaucracy, which is near-useless. As for UK MPs and ministers, I doubt whether so many useless deadheads have ever been collected together at Westminster.

Alison Chabloz appeal

Readers of the blog will recall that, last Friday (13 August 2021), Alison Chabloz, having lost her appeal from the Westminster Mags, was (oddly) remanded in custody pending sentence today (Monday 16 August 2021) by the presiding judge, H.H. Judge Beddoe [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Beddoe].

The current situation is that Alison was “produced” in court today, but the Court is still having “difficulties” accessing Alison’s probation records, it having transpired on Friday last that “higher authority” would be required to allow access even to the judge (who is a Circuit judge)!

The net result of this bureaucratic nonsense was that, today, sentence could not be passed, because the judge wanted to see those probation records first. He has therefore once again remanded Alison in custody, this time until Wednesday!

As I blogged previously, Alison has already served about 9 weeks in prison as a result of the 18-week sentence given by the lower court, which means that any greater sentence given by this present court (to a maximum of 6 months) would, in reality (bearing in mind the usual release after half of the sentence is served) mean that Alison would have to do about another 2-3 weeks (she has several days “credit” for having served a few days in 2020 prior to a successful appeal).

Alison now has another 5 days served in Bronzefield Prison, so (if my calculations are accurate) even if she gets the maximum sentence on Wednesday, can probably expect release about 1-2 weeks later.

I am beginning to think that she will not get further imprisonment, or that perhaps some way will be found to “embugger” her otherwise, by adding on “community service” or some other onerous penalty.

We shall discover what “British justice” has to say on Wednesday.

Anecdotal but…in the early 1990s, a Sri Lankan solicitor, a woman, used to instruct a few members of my then chambers (including me, occasionally). Thick as two short planks, and seemed to think that paying Counsel was optional. In the end, she was about to be indicted for embezzlement when she killed herself. My point is that she was presumably part of the “educated elite” of Sri Lanka.

I visited a Tesco store about 6 miles from home today. About 50% or so of the shoppers were masked, including two virtue-signalling fat women who were slapping vast amounts of free Tesco hand gel all over their hands, arms etc at the entrance, while loudly talking about how they were protecting themselves and others. It was amusing to walk past them, unmasked, while almost laughing at them.
