Coronavirus, the scare of the century?

Private hospitals are empty and up to 40,000 NHS beds lie unused amid mounting fury over the handling of non coronavirus treatment as thousands of operations are cancelled and cancers go undetected.

Figures suggest that up to four times the number of beds are free than normal for this time of year after a huge slowdown in non Covid-19 admissions as health bosses aim their focus at the pandemic response.

Hospitals have cancelled ‘thousands’ of their non-urgent surgeries – like hip and knee operations and IVF treatment – to free up space for infected patients, and operating theatres, equipped with oxygen supplies, have been turned into coronavirus wards.

Nightingale hospitals, built for the expected surge in coronavirus victims, are also largely empty, and private hospitals taken over by the NHS at a cost of hundreds of millions of pounds are also barely being used.” [Daily Mail]

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8249241/Nearly-40-000-hospital-beds-lie-operations-treatments-cancelled.html

Medics say up to 2,700 cancers are being missed every week as the numbers being referred by doctors for urgent hospital appointments or checks had dropped by 75 per cent.  Professor Karol Sikora, a cancer specialist, has warned that the impact of the coronavirus outbreak could result in 50,000 cancer deaths.

Meanwhile NHS staff have been accused of making a ‘mockery’ of the health service as they faced a barrage of criticism for posting ‘tone deaf’ and ‘disrespectful’ videos of dance routines on coronavirus wards while seriously ill patients have their medical treatment delayed.” [Daily Mail]NHS staff at the Tavistock Day Case Theatre in West Devon were forced to apologise after they filmed themselves performing a traditional Maori chant

[above: “NHS staff at the Tavistock Day Case Theatre in West Devon were forced to apologise after they filmed themselves performing a traditional Maori chant“—Daily Mail]

“Clap for the NHS”? Nein danke. The NHS is a very good thing, in principle, but the fact is that maladministration is a major problem, as well as underfunding. I have no time for virtue-signalling, nor for de facto enforced “community-ism”.

NIGHTINGALES COULD BE RE-PURPOSED

It emerged today that NHS Nightingale hospitals could be ‘re-purposed’ to treat non-coronavirus patients to clear a mounting backlog of cancelled operations and other treatments.

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace yesterday said empty beds at the seven Nightingales around the country may be used for cases including cancer sufferers or ‘stepdown’ patients on the road to recovery.

It came as the Nightingales remain largely empty despite having the capacity for up to 11,000 patients.

The first of the seven major sites in England to open at the ExCel Centre in East London has so far treated just 41 patients despite already having a capacity of 500.

And the transfer of more than 30 patients to the hospital which opened on April 3 was allegedly ‘cancelled due to staffing shortages’, according to NHS documents.

Of the 41 patients treated in London, four have died, seven have been discharged to a less critical level of care and the other 30 are still having treatment there.

There have since been three more Nightingales open – in Birmingham on April 16, in Manchester the following day and in Harrogate in North Yorkshire on Tuesday.

The NHS has not yet provided data on how many people have been treated by any of these three, although the figure is believed to be dozens at best. This means the total number of patients treated at the four sites could be under 100.” [Daily Mail]

So, after all the hullabaloo around the huge instant “Nightingale” hospitals, at least one (on Tyneside) never opened for patients at all, and the others outside London have had few if any patients. The London one, capacity 500, which was supposed to be treating “thousands” of critically-ill patients has in fact received only 41!

Of those 41, 7 have been discharged, 30 are still there, and 4 have died. So, with known infection rates in London falling quite fast now, it looks as though the London Nightingale will soon be redundant unless repurposed, but it is a “hospital” good for only one thing— keeping patients alive who need ventilation or oxygen. It has no operating theatres or other usual hospital facilities, so it looks as if Ben Wallace is talking out of his ****.

Sweden, Britain, washing hands and other questions

It has been obvious to the non-brainwashed since the beginning of the Coronavirus situation that the only known way to stop its spread is widespread washing of hands, thoroughly, with soap and water. As I blogged almost two months ago, the survey of 2015, showing the levels of personal hygiene across Europe, exposed the fact that Italy, Spain and France were the least hygienic, the very countries where the pro rata infection rates have been highest.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8248719/Swedens-coronavirus-cases-grow-slowly-Britains-despite-lack-lockdown.html

Likewise, the only other really useful measures to help stop the infection on a mass basis are closure of or avoidance of crowded, hot, places where many excited people gather: popular concerts and dances, nightclubs, underground and other trains. Preventing people from walking, sunbathing, sitting on beaches or park benches are useless wastes of time.

Interesting news…

Is Coronavirus sparing white Northern Europeans?

It seems a strange idea at first blush. After all, we are brought up to believe that diseases generally attack people on an equal-opportunity basis. Whites, blacks, whatever. However, that is, like much of what people are told to believe, not actually true.

It is well known that some diseases attack, or conditions affect, only blacks: sickle-cell anaemia is one (showing that blacks do not belong in Northern climes). Likewise, though NHS and other propaganda concealed it or tried to conceal it, HIV/AIDS was much more easily contracted by blacks, half-caste blacks etc than by Europeans, especially those from North-West Europe or with family origins there.

Now we see Coronavirus affecting, in the UK for example, people of all racial origins, yes, but so called BAME people (including Jews) far worse than those of what might be called “Aryan” or more accurately “post-Aryan” origins.

Age is obviously the most important demographic factor in Coronavirus infection, symptomatics and mortality, but after that the racial aspect is obviously significant, though the importance is blurred by social factors such as modes of life, ways of life and living, housing etc.

I was struck by the Boris Johnson case. Here you have someone aged 55, of not only European but also Turkish and Jewish origins. He gets the virus and, it seems, was lucky not to die from it. His fiancee, Carrie Symonds, apparently European, and only 32 years old, showed symptoms and tested positive but suffered no more than slight discomfort before swiftly recovering. Makes you think…

Street impressions

I had to go out in late afternoon (Friday afternoon) on an errand even the new UK bully police would certify as “essential”, so was able to observe how many people were out and about in my corner of Southern England. In fact, quite a few.

I remember when the “lockdown” nonsense started, a few weeks ago (though it seems far longer). The roads were empty. Now, today, I should say that, though the traffic has not built up to the Friday or any weekday norm, there was rather a lot of traffic around. Private cars as well as delivery vehicles. Quite a few people on bicycles, too.

A police car saw me as I passed in the opposite direction. The police car had cars ahead of and behind it. It slowed. I wondered whether the driver wanted to check me out, but was unable to do so because of the road situation. In fact, he would have been wasting his time. My car has valid MOT, is properly registered, as well as fully insured and so on; my UK licence is up to date and without “points”. In short, and in those senses only, I am “kosher”!

As I blogged yesterday, there is a “yes, repeat no” thing going on. No-one in the UK is rioting about this nonsense of the whole population being placed under conditional house arrest; no-one is even protesting loudly in the streets. Yet, with the weather warm, people are just taking their chances of being hassled by the toytown police, in the knowledge that the relatively few police around cannot, despite being more in evidence than pre-Coronavirus, arrest, ticket, or even talk to every motorist, every walking couple, every sunbathing young lady…

It reminds me of what happened in 1989. In 1988, I crossed the “East German” (DDR) border by car from Poland, then the next day into the then West Germany (Bundesrepublik). The border was rather fearsome in a quiet way, despite the fact that I crossed at a little-used and rural crossing-point in the south of the DDR.

Yet, only a year later, triggered by an announcement from a government minister (seemingly unintended), thousands of DDR citizens built up at the Berlin Wall and just started to cross. The Grenzpolizei (border police, aka Grepos) did not know what to do…so did nothing. One illegal crosser— shoot him; a thousand? Ten thousand. Impossible.

That, in minor key, is the situation the UK police are in now. They can throw their weight around when only a small number of (harmless, law-abiding English) people are involved, but when a thousand or a million people decide that they have had enough of the misconceived (and in any case pointless) “lockdown” petty tyranny, the police are powerless to stop those people from doing things such as driving around, visiting beaches, walking in parks or even —what wickedness!— sunbathing…

Many people evidently have taken the “lockdown” at face value. This was an attempt by the global self-styled “elite” power club to see how far they can go in turning notionally “free” people into obedient, compliant, and above all unaware and bamboozled, serfs, clapping their own house arrest, in effect. Look at Cressida Dick, Metropolitan Police Commissioner and Common Purpose “alumna”, right there in the forefront. I was thinking that this was the result of stupidity [cf. the view of @ClarkeMicah/Peter Hitchens] but I veer now to conspiracy.

The plebs are easily manipulated…

A woman says she was “named and shamed” by neighbours after she fell asleep and missed the weekly clap for carers tribute to NHS staff and key workers.

The mother said had been tired after “a rough night” with her son, and inadvertently failed to take part in the event despite having done so in previous weeks.” [Sky News]

https://twitter.com/jasonedgington4/status/1253748838923481088?s=20

The woman went on to write: “I just feel like I’m a total outcast on my previously friendly street now even though only one person posted it and only two others agreed

“It’s really disturbing how quickly people are ready to turn on each other and ‘report’ each other.”” [Sky News]

What many of the unthinking plebs would love would be a kind of “Nuremberg Trial” or kangaroo court every month (or week), with dissidents suitably “named and shamed” and then put in virtual or actual stocks so that the mob can throw things at anyone not going along with the official line.

Some “dissident” tweets

Again, as Hitchens says, or implies, the little penpushers, the toytown police and poundland KGB are finding new ways to fill their time, new “rules” to “enforce”.

Like most barristers (in my case, “ex”, since late 2016) who have done criminal trials, I am thoroughly in favour of juries, not because they are educated, intelligent, logical, or have any knowledge of the law beyond what the judge chooses to share with them (direct them as to), for mostly those qualities do not apply. No, the value of the jury is in the “sense of justice” within that small conclave. That may go against “the law” as written, against the evidence in some cases. It is a mystery, a mystery which worries the neat and little minds of some.

I can think of a few cases from my pupillage and later my own Bar experience (though I stopped doing most criminal work after a year or two, around 1995); other cases I have in mind were far more serious trials where the State was obviously thought, by the jury, to have gone “too far”.

One example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyprus_Seven_Trial

The problem that we now have is that juries are so brainwashed by State and/or politically-correct propaganda that the accused might often actually be better off being tried by a “Diplock Court” [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diplock_court].

Diary Blog, 23 April 2020

Well, here we are on the evening of St. George’s Day, scarcely an auspicious day this year, with the compliant rabbit-pleb population begging to be kept in “lockdown” for “as long as it takes”, meaning until Coronavirus is no more. They can then (in a year or so) emerge from their dwellings to contemplate the complete destruction of the UK’s economy and society.

Actually, the above is somewhat hyperbolic. For one thing, at least as far as where I am situated is concerned, there was no visible or audible State-mandated clapathon this evening. Yay! Not a single “locked-down” serf-citizen (in my area) appeared to clap, bang, set off fireworks or virtue-signal. So that’s one dead propaganda campaign (I hope)…

Secondly, people are starting to revolt, gradually, against the wrongheaded and tyrannical “lockdown” nonsense.

It’s a very British revolt. For one thing, very slow! All the same, in a typically Brit “yes, repeat no” way, people are starting to ignore the “lockdown”. There would be a great deal more of this quiet revolt were shops open.  As it is, there is nowhere much to go anyway. However, there are still parks, beaches, national parks, lakes (those not yet poisoned by Derbyshire police woodentops) etc.

The msm continues to parrot System propaganda, though. Look, below, at the Daily Mail today, calling people “covidiots” simply because they decided to walk in a park, sunbathe alone in a park or on a beach, drive around for a change of view and air, all activities which do not spread the Chinese virus; neither do any of these people have any chance of getting the virus from their walking, sunbathing or driving.

Not that that stops Twitter’s “me-too” online mob of serfs and virtue-signallers from attacking these innocent people and their harmless behaviours. As for the toytown police that now infest the country, they love lecturing decent citizens doing completely harmless activities.

Despite government pleas and warnings of strong fines from police for breaching lockdown rules, beaches were packed up and down the country, with covidiots sunbathing and enjoying the high temperatures.” [Daily Mail]

Police move two members of the public off a bench in Edinburgh today, after they appeared to decide to enjoy some tea in the sun, despite the coronavirus lockdown

[above: police idiots “move on” a harmless elderly/middleaged couple sitting having a drink from a Thermos flask. Why? Why?]

In Edinburgh, a couple were moved on by police after they were spotted enjoying some tea on a park bench.” [Daily Mail]. Again, why? It is senseless, quite senseless.

Sunbathing is banned by the government under the guidelines, but that didn't seem to stop some covidiots all over the country, including this woman at Highgate park in north London

[above: it pleases Daily Mail scribblers Danny Hussain and Jordan King to call this harmless young woman, sunbathing in her sky-blue bikini at Highgate, a “covidiot”… Why? She is not spreading the bloody virus; she is not in danger of infection, and even if she did get it, she is young enough to have, probably, few if any symptoms. Oh, and the Daily Mail “newspaper” scribblers might care to note that sunbathing is not unlawful anyway, whatever little Matt Hancock might like to pretend]

Members of the public ignore the Coronavirus lockdown on the hottest day of the year on Primrose Hill, north London, including this woman who seemed to be enjoying the sun

[above: another young woman, alone in the sun on Primrose Hill. Harmless. Why call people like her “covidiots”? So that the Twitterati and other online mobs, ignorant and brainwashed, can chuck virtual rotten tomato at her?]

A driver stopped by police in Cornwall told officers he went on a 70-mile tour of the county because he was bored of lockdown

[above: further misuse of police resources and unnecessary intrusion into the lives of citizens: the motorist was bored and decided to drive around Cornwall. So? Mind your own business, Plod!].

Devon and Cornwall Police said today they have carried out over 200 stops in the Penzance area alone in the past week. A driver pulled over for going on a 70-mile tour of Cornwall’s roads said ‘No reason for doing it really – I was just bored.’ It is the latest sign of the country getting back to normal life – despite ongoing lockdown rules.” [Daily Mail]

Huge queues built up outside the Five Guys burger restaurant in Edinburgh last night as people collect takeaway orders

[above: customers crowding together at a large takeaway food outlet in Edinburgh. This is within the “rules” as laid down! It’s all a nonsense!]

Crowds of commuters board a Jubilee line train at Canning Town station on the London Underground this morning

[above: the Central Line in East London. All within the “rules”, yet a wonderful incubator for bacteria and also viruses]…

According to the Daily Mail, people can now be fined if “caught” sunbathing in public, but not if exercizing in public, despite the fact that the latter is far more likely to lead to random infection! It’s all just nonsense! That’s assuming that the Daily Mail has the law right, which I doubt (I speak of the law, not whatever little Matt Hancock tries to pretend is the law).

Twitter full tonight of idiots engaged in the State Clapathon. Go away…thankfully, few if any around here. Once again, one sees that Twitter is the home of the natural serfs and virtue-signallers. Most unable to think for themselves.

Not that I do not appreciate the doctors, nurses and other staff in the NHS. Most are great. However, State-encouraged mass signalling is not to be pandered to. It also tends to kill thought (and dissent) about this whole Coronavirus thing and the government policy of putting the population under pointless house arrest.

Also, the NHS is badly-administered, to an almost absurd extent, and that is apart from any funding questions. “Clapping for NHS” tends to says “there are no serious problems in the NHS”. Again, this clapping coercion tends to kill thought and dissent.

An exception, as previously noted, has been Peter Hitchens (@ClarkeMicah on Twitter):

https://davidallengreen.com/2020/04/the-significant-extension-of-the-coronavirus-restriction-on-movement-and-why-it-is-concerning/

End the “lockdown” nonsense now!

Crises such as the present one are for political leaders or at least pretend leaders to run with, not advisers, however supposedly eminent: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Whitty

Advisers such as this Whitty character need to be put back in their box. It is always dangerous to, in effect, give power to such people.

I like this (from @TonyGreyMan)…

More tweets:

Not that most Twitter virtue-signallers care much (yet) about the economy collapsing. Most of that section of the Twitterati are public service people (NHS, police, fire brigade, local council staff, other public sector staff) who assume (wrongly) that their pay, conditions and employment are outside the wider “marketplace”, or they are people not working anyway (either retired or otherwise “economically inactive”). Then there are the BBC and other msm drones, entertainers etc, as well as the online soi-disant “film critics”, “writers” (who have written one or two sunk-without-trace books in the past 5+ years), “journalists” etc (untrained and on tiny online “newspapers”; see also “Mike Stuchbery”), people who talk on BBC local radio once or twice a month etc etc and put themselves forward as “academics”, “historians” etc, on the strength of a pathetic doctorate from some multikulti degree mill.

Tweets seen today

If anyone wonders why so many of the tweets here, and in recent days on this blog, are those of the scribbler Peter Hitchens, it is because, as far as the “Coronavirus” situation is concerned, he has been (and still is) one of the few well-known people to speak up publicly against the UK “lockdown” nonsense, the mad thinking behind it, and about the likely results of it.

Also, against the extraordinary power grab by the organs of the State (especially the police) and the supine response of most British people at being turned into serfs confined to their dwellings or shouted at —for inoffensive and completely harmless acts such as taking walks, driving a car, or sitting on a beach— all at the whim of police “officers” and/or “democratic” (incompetent and idiotic) politicians such as little Matt Hancock.

For those interested, I have previously blogged about Hitchens himself:

https://ianrmillard.wordpress.com/2019/05/19/peter-hitchens-and-his-views/

https://twitter.com/RupertHenson9/status/1252947258749997056?s=20

The reason why I have republished these tweets, mostly from Hitchens, is because these are the cogent points which have not been seen in the msm. The “British” TV, radio, Press have mostly been engaged in an exercise of scaring the bejesus out of the British people, aka (as shown all too clearly during this “crisis”) a mob of frightened rabbit-like plebs.

In fact, looking at the way in which the British people have meekly complied with, not only the new repressive “Coronavirus” law but also the expressed wishes of mostly pretty stupid government ministers (little Matt Hancock and others), which wishes are not law, it is clear that most British people do not want to be “free” or anything like it. That is why the British people have stood still while mass immigration trashed their society, land and culture. That is why there were so few protests when Iain Dunce Duncan Smith, the jew “lord” Freud and others trashed much of the Welfare State, and that is why few cared much as even the sainted NHS was cut back (and maladministered) for a decade or more.

Napoleon said that the English were “a nation of shopkeepers”. A lot of truth in that, psychologically, but today the shops are almost all shut by government decree (advised so by “experts” who at first predicted 500,000 Coronavirus deaths, then 250,000, then 5,000, and now whatever seems plausible on the basis of a few days’ massaged “statistics”).

Today, the English, Scots, Welsh are, visibly, nations of scared unthinking rabbits. Plebs. In fact, to call any of them “nations” seems rather to stretch it…

So we see that the rabbits believe almost everything the msm tells them about the (almost non-existent) “danger” of walking in parks, or on beaches, or on Welsh or Peak District hills. The same rabbits, many of them, will all be out at a certain hour today (I believe) and “clapping for the NHS”, a meaningless and State-encouraged “loyalty show” akin to something from the now-defunct (except in North Korea) socialist world.

In fact, those most keen to do as the Government of fools wishes (and who want ever-stricter “lockdown”) are precisely the pseudo-socialists, as seen on Twitter.

Clapathon

I thought that the latest State-mandated “clap fest” was this evening. Maybe not. At any rate, there was no clapping, or banging frying pans, around here. Maybe the idea has petered out.

Basic income

The SNP has called for Basic Income, something that I have favoured for years. An idea whose time has come.

That is my feeling. The toytown police state brought into being by the Coronavirus Act can be continued, extended, or resurrected almost at will, either by extending the “sunset” of the Act itself, or by passing a new Mickey Mouse “virus” Act…

https://twitter.com/DrewyA_/status/1252576187752288257?s=20

A good point, that last. Personally, I believe that Boris-idiot is hiding out until the air has cleared and the virus wave effectively over, so that he can emerge as “wounded-in-action and conquering hero (clown) returns”.  As I predicted long ago, Boris-idiot is useless in a crisis. As for the headless chicken now posing as a government, its “Cabinet ministers” are a mediocre stupid lot, unwilling to take responsibility or the obvious necessary step of ending the “lockdown” now.

Thoughts about the economic situation

I have been told that, eg “hairdressers and butchers are suffering”.

I’m sure, but people offering personal services in perpetual demand, such as barbers, will be the first to recover. People need their services, such businesses do not require much capital to restock with anything, and they get paid in cash or via immediate card payment.

Small shops such as butchers or whatever may be in deeper trouble, because they need to buy stock and (like most hairdressers etc) are still, during the “lockdown”, paying at least rent, if not also business rates, in most cases.

The obvious result of the present nonsense is that many closed-down shops will not reopen, or be open for long, while new entrants to the “High Street” retail landscape will be few. This really could spell the end of the High Street, or something very close to it.

I have seen tweets saying that some publicans are still paying rent of as much as £2,000 a week to landlords (usually breweries), despite being closed and thus having no or almost no income (a few are delivering food and drink to clients, in small quantities).

Fortunately, the inn where I often based myself when in the UK from France, the Royal Oak at Dunsford, near Dartmoor, is owned by its proprietors. I urge people to go there when this nonsense is over. It’s a great place, deserves support, and the village of Dunsford itself is (as I used to think of it when I was there) “a blessed plot”.

http://www.royaloakd.com/

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunsford

Village of Dunsford, Devon: Home Page

Returning to the less-happy facts of the overall UK economic situation, many people have been either made redundant, or “furloughed”. Even those on furlough may not be getting their full pay, nor even the 80% of it guaranteed by the Government. It is capped at £2,500 per month. Cold comfort for those (formerly) making more than average pay.

After furlough? How many will even have jobs to which they can return?

I imagine that, once we are into the Summer and Autumn, there will be a personal/family crisis for many. Rents, mortgages etc may become unsustainable. The buy to let parasite market may well crash. Not that I care about the landlords, but those who cannot pay rent will mostly be ejected and become homeless. Will those houses become empty indictments of our whole system?

The idea being put forward by the present government, as well as by the “experts” who have been so wrong so many times before, i.e. that the economy will “bounce back” in a “V”-shaped recovery, sounds to me like pie in the sky.

People in the UK will, many of them, have no money, be maxed-out on credit cards, have had to remortgage houses (when or if they can). Demand in the economy will be low, not only in the UK, but Europe-wide and, to a lesser extent, worldwide. From where will that “bounce-back” come?

I see today that the price of oil is so low that it is only just worth producing. Bad for oil-producing states, including Russia. I have not looked at gas, but I presume that the same is true. At least it should mean the end of the fracking nonsense in England. An end to part-Jew Osborne’s con-trick propaganda.

The “British” Press

I read that the newspapers, at least as print entities, face closure or at least significant cutbacks. Specialized or niche newspapers, such as the Jewish Chronicle, have already folded, though still publishing at time of writing. The larger or national newspapers are making huge losses. Am I worried on their behalf? No. In fact, I am laughing.

The “free press” of the UK, infested by Jewish-Zionist influence, has rarely been a positive influence in British life, even before WW2. In fact, with a few exceptions, as when the Daily Telegraph broke open the MPs’ expenses scandal, and thus exposed many MPs as a pack of squalid, thieving, cheating, freeloading, embezzling evildoers, I can think of few really good things that the “free Press” has done.

Come to that, while the Telegraph did break the expenses scandal in the latter part of the 2005-2009 Parliament, many of the worst expenses cheats and freeloaders are still MPs! One or two have even been promoted to the Cabinet! A few names? Yvette Cooper, Nadine Dorries, Iain Dunce Duncan Smith, Michael Gove. There are many more. All or almost all are members of Labour or Conservative Friends of Israel.

When I was disbarred at the instigation of a pack of Jews in 2016, the newspapers gave false or misleading accounts of the matter. I myself have never blogged fully about that, but have published a partial account: https://ianrmillard.wordpress.com/2017/07/09/the-slide-of-the-english-bar-and-uk-society-continues-and-accelerates/

No, I shall not be crying when the “national Press” (Lugenpresse, Judenpresse) goes down. I shall welcome the downfall, especially if the scribblers and others face well-merited ruin.

End “lockdown” now

What the government needs to do is to end the “lockdown”, right now, but also to keep advising people strongly, via the msm, re. washing hands (the only really effective way to prevent getting the virus) and reasonable social distancing (i.e. in particular avoiding crowded places and/or places where there are hot and excited people).

Michael Gove

Michael Gove, the pro-Israel, pro-Jewish lobby careerist MP and now Cabinet minister, is in the news again. It will be recalled that he was an expenses cheat in the 2005-2010 Parliament, to the extent that he was lucky not to be prosecuted for fraud. He is also a (supposedly former) cocaine abuser and drunk, who was also filmed in 2019, in the Chambers of the House of Commons, either dead drunk or drugged.

She is thought to come from a wealthy background and, although it is difficult to find out what her parents did, at the time of her marriage to Gove in 2001, they were resident in Monte Carlo. It was a tweet about Gove which was one of five tweets (yes, that’s right, only 5 out of 150,000+) that got me disbarred in 2016, at the instigation of a pack of Jews: see https://ianrmillard.wordpress.com/2017/07/09/the-slide-of-the-english-bar-and-uk-society-continues-and-accelerates/ , or google “Ian Millard barrister” for a one-sided msm view. Now, my tweet about Gove can be seen to have been obviously true (as were the other 4). At that time, Gove had not yet been exposed as a “cokehead”, just as a fraudster, embezzler, doormat for Jews and Israel, and a backstairs manipulator.

The emerging British toytown police state

It strikes me that, in most revolutions (in their uncontrolled “street” phase), it is not the intellectuals, not the ideologues, not the “responsible” trade unionists or the faux-revolutionary newspaper scribblers and TV talking heads who are the first to take to the barricades, but the delinquent youths and the —to use the contemporary colloquialism—  the “totally pissed-off— who do so. They are the ones who assault the police, hang the HVO secret police (Hungary 1956) , burn down the headquarters of the local Stasi and destroy its files (East Germany/DDR 1989) and who create the conditions for an actual revolution going beyond mere temporary upheaval.

Who are those who are “ignoring the rules” of toytown dystopian Britain in 2020? Not the bloggers, not the journalists (not even the dissident ones), not the pesudo-religious priests, priestesses and other frauds. No, we see that it is the youth, or part of it, plus a hard core of people willing to think for themselves and show themselves unafraid of the state, as well as (whisper it) the blacks and other non-Europeans in the UK (who have no thought for the principles of liberty, but who just want the practical or actual freedom to go to parks, play football on Brighton beach etc).

There is no revolution happening in Britain. Not yet, anyway. However, I notice that the young are the ones mostly ignoring the new repressive law and the police-invented “rules” taken from Government ministers’ mere wishes.

My local online newspaper reports that the police have, inter alia, tried to apprehend 7 youths fishing. My God, fishing! What devilment is this?! In fact, “when the officers arrived, the youths ran off“. Meanwhile, in other evil, police were called to a beach where youths had been reported to be using a jetski. My God, don’t they understand that they could be “spreading Coronavirus“, “literally killing people“, and “destroying the NHS“?

Well, no, actually. Because they are not. This pathetic poundland police state-ism is driving even me up the wall. Fishing in small groups (people who already know each other anyway), or using a jetski on the sea (much as I dislike jetskis) are not behaviours with the slightest chance of spreading this bloody Chinese virus.

In fact, the police were out of luck with the jetski “criminals” too, because it appears that, “by the time officers arrived, the youths and the jetski had gone, but officers found the remains of a barbecue on the beach.” A barbecue? The bastards!

Joking aside, what does it take for “Middle England” (let alone the brainwashed plebs) to defend what little is left of their liberties and civil rights?

Actually, my impression is that the vast bulk of the British people have sold their soul not for fame, money (in any large quantity), or other of the usual inducements. No. Just chuck them a family-pack of loo paper, some dried pasta, and a bottle of booze. That’s them sorted…and goodbye all the fine words about “democracy”, “a society under law” (nb. “law“, not laws“), “freedom”, “civil rights”, “human rights” etc.

I don’t want to hear any more about the (large fake anyway) “wartime spirit”, “Dunkirk spirit”, “Blitz spirit” etc, and how “we” fought “tyranny” (as propaganda had it in WW2 and, germinally, for several years beforehand, as well as since).

We see the 100-y-o ex-officer raising £20M or more for the NHS, and he is quite rightly being honoured. Having said that, why does a National Health Service need to have monies raised for it by ad hoc crowdfunding? The fact is that the NHS has been both underfunded and, at least equally important, maladministered for years, even decades. In the past decade, vast sums have been shaven off NHS budgets and, since 2017, nurses have had their pay frozen.

Will the £20M-£30M raised be properly deployed or applied? Come to that, I wonder whether that 100-year-old ex-officer himself voted Conservative in 2010, 2015, 2017 or 2019??

More tweets about the current madness

Yes, the virus has killed a significant number of people, but the expected mass onslaught of deaths has not arrived. The NHS has a huge number of empty beds for the time of year. The mortality figures show a confused picture, not least because it is not clear how the authorities decide who is and who is not recorded as a Covid-19 death.” [Peter Hitchens, in the Daily Mail]

Coronavirus— the madness continues

So far, only a minority of clear-thinking people and sceptics has stood up to the brainwashing around the present attempt to place a significant amount of the world population (focussing here on the UK) under a form of house arrest. Here below are a few tweets from leading dissident, Peter Hitchens:

https://ianrmillard.wordpress.com/2019/05/19/peter-hitchens-and-his-views/

In relation to that last of Hitchens’ tweets, how true that is! The BBC is now purely a System/Government/Common Purpose mouthpiece, as demonstrated by some pathetic nonsense on BBC News this morning. A virtual concert in “celebration” of the (not-very-effective) public services, I believe. Some bearded fellow selling rainbow T-shirts (apparently for the NHS) too.

A tweet, and answering tweet, below, too, which both reference Joan Bakewell:

https://www.channel4.com/news/we-will-go-back-to-considerably-worse-than-normal-peter-hitchens-and-joan-bakewell-debate-the-government-lockdown-response

Well, I am only 5 years younger than Peter Hitchens, so I also remember Joan Bakewell, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_Bakewell , though from the 1970s, not 1960s. As I saw her, a pursed-lipped busybody type, the sort of woman back then who did well at a State grammar school, attended university (in her case, Cambridge), then joined some “Establishment” body such as MI5 or (in her case) the BBC.

Joan Bakewell has always been System, through and through. Just look at all the appointments and sinecures she has held! She made money on the side too, e.g. in the early 1970s by appearing in Sanderson furnishing ads (magazine photos), under the caption, “Very Joan Bakewell, very Sanderson”. https://www.imogenwhyte.co.uk/very-sanderson-at-the-fashion-textile-museum/ ; https://www.stylelibrary.com/sanderson/

Others who did the same (see above) included Jilly Cooper, Diana Rigg, Petula Clark, the theatre director Peter Hall, Kingsley Amis, and even that excellent adventure writer, Hammond Innes (now rather forgotten, but one of the few non-classic fiction writers that I like: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hammond_Innes), as well as the once-famous but now equally-forgotten early “celebrity chef”, Robert Carrier: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Carrier_(chef). Others too. Sadly, I have been unable to locate Joan Bakewell’s equivalent magazine ad. Or that of Hammond Innes, though I did find this, one of his best books, in my opinion:

The Strange Land by Hammond Innes: Very Good Hardcover (1955 ...

Also found a few minutes of silent film showing the writer at his East Anglian home:

I believe that he lived on or close to the coast of Suffolk. https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/obituary-hammond-innes-1164546.html

A satirist in the early 1970s suggested that Sanderson might try out a Russian literary giant of the time: “Very Solzhenitsyn, very Sanderson” (unsurprisingly, that never happened). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aleksandr_Solzhenitsyn

I have to say that Joan Bakewell is so typical of many of the people I have fought all my life, the bien-pensant Hampstead-dwellers (I believe that Joan Bakewell herself lives in nearby Primrose Hill, though I may be mistaken) who think, for example, that the multicultural society is wonderful (because they themselves live in a bubble cossetted by wealth and general privilege), and so on. Plenty like that at the Bar, too.

I don’t really care about mass immigration, neither do I care about Coronavirus lockdown, because I and all my friends live in big houses with nice gardens in Hampstead and Highgate and Primrose Hill and Blackheath.” Bluntly put, but in essence that is more or less the attitude.

This [below] is what we are not hearing from the hysterical msm, let alone the Government of Fools:

The “flattening of the curve” of the “pandemic” has occurred in both countries with “lockdown” and those without…

Lies, damn lies, and statistics.

In fact, in terms of propaganda method, the UK state has managed to manage the public easily, in a judo-like way, not using blunt force as the primary way of manipulating behaviour, but combining that with the channelling of the fear of the public (fear of the virus) and the inherent British social conformity.

Where the Government itself has fallen down is in the fact that it has painted itself into a corner, and now cannot back down and then re-open or free the economy and society.

There is this idea abroad that there has to be an “exit strategy”. Why not just say “everything will be open as of X-day, the last day of X-month”?

Meanwhile, the economic tidal wave is approaching. Debenhams (23,000 jobs) has gone (officially only 7 stores and 400 jobs so far, but I doubt that the rest will last long) and I see that the ground force for aviation, comprising several large enterprises such as Swissport, are saying that they will lay off their thousands of employees this weekend unless government guarantees are given.

It is clear that once the furlough monies made available by the Government end (now extended until end of June), there will be a crashing wave of redundancies. More than that, there will, even as things stand, be millions of people on State benefits, maybe for the first time unable to pay their rents, mortgage payments, and general living expenses.

So far the population has been supine, scarcely willing to think for itself, let alone protest as its most basic everyday civil rights have been taken away. That may change when people start to suffer directly. We shall see.

Actually, the very lack of protest or individual (or group) rebellion is not just stunning in itself. It shows how it is that British people have been almost quiescent as their country has been swamped by migration-invasion for decades.

This is a British people that gets more excited or angry about the result of a TV talent show, or the plot of a “soap”, or about who screws whom in some “Year of the Sex Olympics” TV “reality” show, than when their own rights, jobs, and future are trashed.

Twitter, thank God, is not the whole society, but look at Twitter and you see the willing slaves begging to be enslaved more; none more so than the “liberal” or “socialist” tweeters, the sort of people who, in the 1960s, 1970s, even 1980s, would have been debating, protesting, rebelling against the infringement of rights, liberties and life-chances. Now? Begging for longer and harsher “lockdown”, demanding more active policing, eager to clap en masse and on command, eager to “celebrate” state services which in fact are only just, or not, functioning.

I notice that a few of the more notorious “usual suspects”, such as  Jew-Zionist minor academic Ben Gidley (under one of his surviving aliases, “@BobFromBrockley”) have started to call any people who do not accept the official line(s) put out by the System re. Coronavirus, “denialists”. cf. “holocaust” “denial” (meaning historical revision of WW2 narratives; and the view that all aspects of history can be examined and commented upon freely), climate change “denial” etc.

David Icke tweets

David Icke used to follow my Twitter account before I was expelled from Twitter via Jewish lobby machinations. He only follows a couple of hundred people, so he must have found my tweets interesting. Perhaps he reads my blog. Here are a few of his recent tweets:

Boris-idiot

Many tweets seen asking “where is Boris?” and many answering their own question by saying that he is in hiding until the death-toll reduces. Quite likely, but what did the voters expect when “they voted for” a part-Jew public entertainer as “their” Prime Minister? (I do not forget, though, that only about 4 out of 10 voters did vote for Conservative Party candidates in 2019).

Evening foray

Went out to Waitrose. The usual black-garbed Handmaid’s Tale marshals there, shuffling around outside. No other shoppers waiting, so no need to join a line. I was graciously waved through. Before that, while parked, I saw the local police drive round the car park once. Why? God knows. In case some people were actually talking to each other and needed to be shouted at? Whatever. The police just drove round and out again.

It strikes me that the police have an easy job right now, certainly in rural and quiet coastal areas. Crime down by a third, officially (I suspect far more, half or three-quarters, if we are talking about real crime, not people saying too many truths on the Internet). Many police seem to spend their time at present driving around, checking out (snooping) as to why someone is out of their house arrest etc; or parked, observing.

In the supermarket, bought a scratchcard. A winner again (though only £10). Few shoppers. Bought a few necessary items (kefir, bread, butter, milk, water, cat food), and a load of unnecessary ones (ice-creams on sticks, raw prawns at one-third of usual price, curry paste, lime pickle, poppadoms etc). Did not notice what items were unobtainable (except bleach, again all gone). Plenty of bread, eggs, milk etc including those panic-buy staples of loo paper and kitchen roll (I myself had no need of any); lemons, limes, grapes and other fruit all available in quantity. Reasonably good selection of tomato. Looks as if this area, at least, has shopped itself to a standstill except for the apparently insatiable demand for pasta, rice and bleach.

Shopping report

I went out shopping for the first time in 2 days yesterday evening. Waitrose not crowded, in fact almost empty, but a few things caught my attention. The first was an odd-looking thin woman hovering around, inter alia, the (empty) dry pasta shelves, a scarf round her mouth (well, if she keeps it that way at home, I’m sure that her husband is grateful!). On approaching other shoppers, even 20 feet away, she held the scarf up to her mouth, tightly, as if in a plague zone (in a dystopian sci-fi film). Funny people. It’s hard not to hold silly people of her sort in contempt.

As for shortages, only —as before— dry pasta, flour and, to a lesser extent, rice. They are good for years, so I suppose that people are stockpiling in case civil war or complete disorder reigns. It could happen, so I find it hard to condemn the “selfishness” out of hand, even though I myself am not stockpiling (in any case, I now live in a humble little place and would scarcely have the storage space). All the other goods which were the object of the panic-buyers recently are in good supply: loo paper, kitchen roll, bottled water, pasta sauce, tinned fish. I bought a couple of cans of tinned red salmon, together with ready-made poppadums, Madras curry paste, fruit, vegetables (mainly carrots for juicing, on sale for only 25p a large bag— cheap), kefir etc. Only thing apart from flour and dry pasta completely unavailable seems to be bleach.

Strange…or is it?

The tweeter, one Millard (unrelated to me, incidentally), is perplexed. Well-meaning no doubt, volunteered for “Coronavirus” duty, to help NHS etc. Ignored. Why?

That tweeter has been the dupe of a propaganda campaign.

We have seen how the new “instant hospitals” set up to receive huge numbers of “Coronavirus” victims (patients) are not even necessary (though setting them up may have been the right decision, and the speed with which they were set up was impressive).

The largest such “Nightingale” hospital, in London, has only handled about 20 or 30 patients out of its maximum capacity of 4,000. Others, in other parts of the UK, have handled few —or no— patients. The one planned for Tyne and Wear is not even going to be opened now.

As I have blogged before, the Government took the Coronavirus crisis as an existential threat to the whole society, as not only a “national emergency” (as its panic-stricken TV ads aver), but also as a national emergency which might kill a quarter of a million or even a half-million people in the UK. In that, they were misled by their “experts” from Imperial College and elsewhere. Those “experts” more recently changed tack and projected a UK death toll of 5,700, but now seem to be unable to think of a suitably-credible new figure. In short, they are like racing tipsters who have lost all credibility and are simply tipping the favourite for the remaining races on the card.

The Government (perhaps with the right intentions, though many think not) took a “maximalist” approach to the virus situation. They closed down our society, closed down our economy, instituted police state rules and regulations. In short, they thought that a tsunami was coming, but when it came, it turned out to be only a larger than usual but not devastating wave.

Now the Goverment, as I wrote yesterday and the day before, has painted itself into a corner, unable to say to the people “well, thank God the expected disaster never happened, so lockdown is over and see you all at work and play tomorrow…”

That cannot happen, not for medical or public health reasons, but for political ones.

The peak has almost certainly passed in the UK, as it has in most if not all of Europe. Even in the USA, we see how deaths have levelled-off and then dropped in terms of daily totals in New York City.

Other parts of Europe have mostly decided to finish this “lockdown” stuff, but Britain is stubbornly refusing, no doubt because of the fear that the Government will look stupid. In reality, this regime is a headless chicken without Boris-idiot in place.

Contrasts

I saw this tweet and many similar to it:

While I resist the System propaganda around “Coronavirus”, the fact is that there is now a generation or two of pretty useless people, for whom all that matters is what people say about them on pathetic “social media” platforms. Many have so much, but they see only their own “suffering”, most of which is in their own empty heads. You only have to look at the TV they have spawned, such as “reality” TV (fake “real life” in Essex etc) and game shows involving such emptyheads screwing each other on islands etc.

I do not want to be too sweeping, but we are mainly talking about the under-40s and often the under-30s.

Sometimes I think that only a real chistka will get rid of them.

Some cheerful music for hard times

History moves on. The German Reich was the superior force, but not in terms of outward force, sadly. Thesis-antithesis-synthesis. We propose, oppose, but later move forward in a way neither of the opposed forces could have predicted. Slava!

The same is true of the oft-mentioned dichotomy, National Socialism v. Anthroposophy. Synthesis is coming even there. National Socialism was not 100% “correct” or “right” in all things and for all time; the same is certainly the case with Anthroposophy. The future waves of History will select what is worthy of survival from both.

Interesting

An interesting tweet by Andrew Neil:

I suppose that Israel is the safest place because…well, some would say because Israel has a strong medical and pharmaceutical sector (which is no surprise, with all the Jewish doctors in the world); others might respond that, if someone rolls a boulder from the top of a hill where 100 people are standing at various heights, and, as it gathers speed, various people are injured or killed by the boulder on its downhill course, then who is in the safest position of all? Surely the one who set the boulder moving from his place at the top of the hill…

The truth is that I do not know what really started this worldwide pandemic; few people do. It is, however, obviously being used for political and possibly geopolitical purposes.

Returning to Neil’s tweet, Britain is not even in the top-40 of “safest countries”. We really are down in the hole these days. Terrible.

Tweets seen

Here’s one [below], from a plainly stupid woman who just wants to be told what to do and think.

Here’s another similar one (there are hundreds like her on Twitter), who does not want to be a free citizen, but just an obedient and compliant serf:

A couple more like those?

Most of the “willing slaves” seem to be women, but not all. At least Laura Kuenssberg and other journalists are starting to question the stupid “lockdown” policy which may well give the coup de grace to Britain’s faltering economy and society (and to what is left of civil rights in this country).

As for listening to the ludicrously-named “SAGE” “experts”, these are the same people who initially said that 250,000 (or even 500,000) would die from Coronavirus in the UK. At present about 12,000 people have died from “Coronavirus-related” conditions. In the same period, about 100,000 other people have died in the UK, and from all sorts of other conditions, diseases and events.

Many of the tweets seen today (and on every day) make one wonder whether it is even worth pretending to be a “democracy”, when so many people incapable of thinking, or whose attempts to think are crippled by their own neuroses, have the vote, the same vote that you and I have. Many are so easily manipulated. Worse, they want to be told “do this, don’t do that“. Societal masochism.

I might not always agree with Peter Hitchens, but most of his tweets are a blessed relief from the “me too”, “clap for victory” serfs on Twitter.

Here is Hitchens laughing at Nadine Dorries, the expenses cheat MP and total deadhead:

Nadine Dorries seems to imagine that a vaccine can be developed and rolled out in weeks! Or maybe she thinks that “lockdown” can just continue ad infinitum. What an idiot that stupid woman really is!

https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/six-questions-that-neil-ferguson-should-be-asked

“In 2005, Ferguson said that up to 200 million people could be killed from bird flu. He told the Guardian that ‘around 40 million people died in 1918 Spanish flu outbreak… There are six times more people on the planet now so you could scale it up to around 200 million people probably.’ In the end, only 282 people died worldwide from the disease between 2003 and 2009.” [The Spectator]

In 2009, Ferguson and his Imperial team predicted that swine flu had a case fatality rate 0.3 per cent to 1.5 per cent. His most likely estimate was that the mortality rate was 0.4 per cent. A government estimate, based on Ferguson’s advice, said a ‘reasonable worst-case scenario’ was that the disease would lead to 65,000 UK deaths. In the end swine flu killed 457 people in the UK and had a death rate of just 0.026 per cent in those infected. Why did the Imperial team overestimate the fatality of the disease? Or to borrow Robinson’s words to Hancock this morning: ‘that prediction wasn’t just nonsense was it? It was dangerous nonsense.‘” [The Spectator]

Well, what about that? This is the man (see above) who is, with others, advising little Matt Hancock and the other Government clowns. This is the man whose opinions those (mostly women) tweeters want to go unquestioned by Laura Kuenssberg et al.

Prof Neil Ferguson

https://www.leadersleague.com/en/news/heroes-and-zeros-neil-ferguson

At least he is now saying that the Government needs an “exit strategy”.  He looks like a drug addict or something (I do not suppose that he actually is a drug addict but he does look rather odd). This country is very sick, and the sickness is worst at the centre of power and influence.

As a matter of fact, I (not a scientist, not a medic, but not devoid of sense either) disagree with Ferguson re. “exit strategy”. No, what the government needs to do is to end the “lockdown”, right now but keep advising people strongly via the msm re. washing hands (the only really effective way to prevent getting the virus) and reasonable social distancing (i.e. avoiding crowded places, places where there are hot and excited people etc).

Ha ha! I agree with Hitchens about this [below]!

Peter Hitchens seems to be agreeing with my view, expressed in the past day or two:

The Government knows that it has done a Sorcerer’s Apprentice over Coronavirus, and wants to stop it before the entire economy is wasted, but it cannot, politically, say it like that. There “has” to be, therefore, some fake “exit strategy” in unnecessary stages…

What worries me is that the public, or at least much of it, has now been brainwashed into thinking that the plague is abroad…only the Coronavirus church (NHS and Government) and Coronavirus saints, whether NHS staff, large donors, 100-year-old retired officers raising charitable funds for NHS, or elderly survivors, can redeem the people…

The public will now be unable to accept any simple honest statement from Downing Street which says “It’s over. We went too far. Coronavirus is a risk but a manageable one. You may now walk, drive, shop, go to work etc as you please, to extent that you did until we started this mass panic.”

I should think that what is gripping the present government of clowns is the fear that the public will see through them…

Clap clap…

This evening, for the first time, I actually saw people engaging in the Daily Hate…oh, no, wait, that was in Nineteen Eighty-Four, not in our wonderful caring society. I mean the regular “clap for [whoever]”. Two women (one dressed in what, on a cursory look, seemed to be pyjamas and a housecoat) and a small child, the latter banging on something like a frying pan. If you see the Government’s TV ads (propaganda) you think that millions are doing this, but these are the only people I have seen join in (if that is the bon mot when they were the only ones doing it), in several weeks.

Britain’s experiment in becoming a police state continues

I doubt that I am the only person disturbed by this: 2000 hrs, Westminster Bridge. The police lead the “Weekly Clap”:

Beyond the State’s Westminster propaganda display, a dark and fearful city where the inhabitants are under house arrest.

Not everyone is impressed:

An example of the dissonant idiocy into which this brainless government of fools has led us.

Willing slaves?

The people of Britain have been turned into scared rabbits.

Britain is not ready for the coronavirus lockdown to be lifted even if the government wanted to, a poll revealed today.

Research for MailOnline found 80 per cent would not feel safe going back to everyday life at the moment, with nearly 60 per cent saying they are not comfortable leaving the house.

Around half are now resigned to the draconian ‘social distancing’ curbs being in place into June – and 37 per cent say they will keep obeying the rules indefinitely if the government believes it is necessary.

[Daily Mail]

Government advisers have admitted to being surprised by the extent to which Britons have been obeying the regime, with politicians increasingly alarmed at the huge consequences for the economy and Treasury finances.” [Daily Mail]

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8225891/Four-fifths-say-not-feel-safe-lockdown-lifted-now.html

Research for MailOnline by Redfield & Wilton found 80 per cent would not feel safe going back to everyday life at the moment

Four-fifths would feel unsafe going to a bar or restaurant if lockdown lifted now, and 62 per cent would feel unsafe going back to work

Four-fifths would feel unsafe going to a bar or restaurant if lockdown lifted now, and 62 per cent would feel unsafe going back to work

Some 37 per cent say they will keep obeying the rules indefinitely if the government believes it is necessary

Maybe this pathetic collapse of the national psychology is a logical consequence of 30 years of pervasive political correctness, “control” of thoughts and expression, scurrying semi-human (((creatures))) “reporting” and denouncing to police, employers, Twitter etc anyone expressing dissident thoughts or feelings.

Who would have thought it? Homo Sovieticus has been reincarnated in the UK…

End the “lockdown” now!

End the police state now!

Diary Blog, 15 April 2020

From global menace to scare story? What’s really behind all this?

The latest news is that the 4,000-bed “Nightingale Hospital” in the London Docklands, which opened very recently and which started admitting patients only a week ago, treated only 19 patients over the Easter holiday.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8218299/Londons-Nightingale-Hospital-sits-19-coronavirus-patients-treated-Easter.html

It now seems that the other Nightingale hospitals of the same sort, converted quickly in various cities to deal with the expected huge numbers of gravely-unwell Coronavirus cases, will not even be needed. At least one will not even officially open.

I thought (and still think) that it was wonderful how, with political will, sufficient funds, dedicated workers and sufficient staff ready to move in, even the first such hospital could be created in days, or a week. Presumably there were contingency plans (if so, that is also to be commended).

However, it throws into the light whether the other Government actions, particularly the “lockdown”, should ever have been imposed, or so stringently imposed.

It is clear now that, after Government panic action, little reaction from the almost inoperative Opposition, and cheerleading from an ignorant and supine mass media, massive damage has been done to the UK economy. That must result in huge unemployment, low pay, high tax etc once the Coronavirus emergency and scare is but a memory.

Let us be clear: this virus is a serious and sometimes deadly public health threat, but even now that it has plainly reached and passed its peak, the death toll total is “only” about 12,000 or so. Yes, that is terrible for the relatives of the deceased, but is only about 1 person in every 6,000 of the population, overall.

The town nearest to me has, including its semi-rural offshoots, about 15,000 inhabitants. Statistically, there might be expected 2-3 Coronavirus deaths so far in that town. In fact, I have seen none at all reported. That may be because this virus is hitting harder in certain crowded urban areas such as London, Birmingham etc. There are huge swathes of Britain where, were it not for the extreme “lockdown”, the Coronavirus would be something only encountered in the Press or in TV news reports.

Back in the mid-1970s, when hitching a lift, I got chatting to the car driver, who had recently moved to England from Belfast, about the situation in Northern Ireland. He surprised me by saying that, in the half-dozen years since “the Troubles” had started, he had only heard one bomb explode, and that had been somewhere in the distance, far from his office in central Belfast. In fact, there are people who lived in Northern Ireland right the way through the 25-30 years of the Troubles who never encountered any political violence, terrorism, Army reaction etc.

The newspapers and TV are a poor method via which to understand anything. However, even the msm has started to move on from “Coronavirus will kill everyone” to “Lockdown— is it time to lift the 24/7 curfew?”

In a perverse sort of way, it’s quite funny, inasmuch as employers have for years been making their workers use their own time for unpaid work, losing lunchtimes, evenings etc, even weekends and holidays. Well, now look. The parasites are going to lose their companies and hardly anyone is working at all now (or buying anything except food, drink, cleaning stuff and loo paper). Sadly, the employees will also suffer, via lack of a job…

Likewise, for years we have been hearing that children desperately need every single hour of teaching, so as not to “fall behind”. That despite the incredible drop in standards of education since the 1970s (take a look at “A” Level papers from the 1950s, 1960s etc). Parents have been fined for “taking their children out of school” to go on holiday etc. Now look: no school at all, for months. In fact, if the “lockdown” lasts until June, which is possible, the pupils may not return to school until September or even October. State school holidays are shorter than those in the Independent sector of course. I cannot quite recall when I, as a teenager, went on Summer holiday. I think in mid-June. It was long ago now, half a century!

I am not sure that “back to normal” quite matches the public mood, but the “lockdown” must end now. Except that it will not, because the Government has painted itself into a corner. It has ramped up this “emergency time” stuff, had all these new temporary hospitals fitted out, told everybody (inaccurately) that “everybody is at risk” (not true in terms of actually dying from the virus, with rare exceptions).

So now the Government can hardly say “OK, everyone, if we don’t end lockdown, the economy will crash and not recover for decades if ever, so see you all at work tomorrow”, even if that might be more honest.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8220381/Calls-lockdown-exit-strategy-grim-warnings-economic-hit.html

The Government will have to, speaking politically, announce only gradual resumption of national life, a life wherein people are not domestic animals penned in by Toytown police and a poundland KGB but (supposedly) free citizens, able to walk, sunbathe, drive to national parks and even —strange idea– chat while shopping. All that could be done overnight (that’s what I would do), but will not be, all so that the Government and its advisers do not look stupid. And the price will be paid by companies, employees, the self-employed and anyone suffering from anything requiring surgery or other treatment unrelated to the virus.

The Conservative Party may calculate: “where can the voters go?” and of course they are right, if that is what they think. Labour under Keir Starmer is even more of a joke than it was under Corbyn, and in any case a general election is probably 4+ years away. There is, as yet, no social-national true alternative party.

The Government virus propaganda has made the public scared of its own shadow. The public cannot, politically, or in terms of mass psychology, now simply be told, “OK, folks, we got it wrong” or “Sorry, people, we went a bit over the top, didn’t we?“, or “Back to normal life as of midnight tonight, people” (“and sorry we treated you like mugs!“…). No, no…It will be a trying-to-play-the-statesman Raab or Hancock, gravely suggesting that he is balancing all factors weightily, like Solomon or a Renaissance king.

In fact, it occurs to me that the Government itself may be stoking fears of an “iceberg” of unrecorded Coronavirus deaths in care homes as a way of saying to the public “the danger is still huge— do as you are told (by us)”…(aka “Stay at home, Protect the NHS, Save lives”).

I suppose that it is marginally better than “Thank you, Comrade Stalin, for our happy childhood!”…

Thank you comrade stalin for my happy childhood | Freedom Toast ...

I blogged yesterday and the day before that the Cabinet is like “a headless chicken” without its part-Jew “Prime Minister” clown and public entertainer: “There are growing complaints that the Cabinet is rudderless, with decisions being effectively put on ice until Boris Johnson completes his recovery from coronavirus.” [Daily Mail].

Give that man a cee-gar…

After Coronavirus?

After the grim Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) figures yesterday – as well as dire IMF forecasts that the global economy is facing its deepest recession for 90 years – Mr Sunak told a Downing Street briefing that people must brace for ‘hardship’.” [Daily Mail]

And he warned colleagues the Government risks causing permanent damage to the economy if the lockdown goes on too long.” [Daily Mail]

and look at this “muppet”!

In a sign of tensions, one Cabinet minister told The Daily Telegraph: ‘We should begin to release the things that can be released, so primary schools and non-essential shops could reopen…Suggesting that pensioners will have to sacrifice their freedom to let the country get back to normal, the minister added: ‘It looks like elderly and vulnerable people are going to be self-isolating for six months rather than three.’” [Daily Mail]

They want “elderly” (70+?) people to stay locked in for 6 months? Until nearly Christmas? Ha ha! That is just not on. Unacceptable. Unenforceable. I have already been told by a couple of people of that age that they will ignore any such attempts to put them under house arrest for months.

ps. if by “elderly”, that “Conservative” idiot means anyone 60+, rather than 70+, I (aged 63) will take great pleasure in both breaking the illegitimate “law” and encouraging others to break it, inter alia.

5G and Coronavirus

I have no view on any link between 5G and Coronavirus but thought the brief article below interesting:

Clap for the NHS?

[A]MailOnline reader revealed her elderly dementia-stricken mother was discharged to a care home, without checking with her.

Her mother, of Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire, was stuck in hospital because health officials had yet to find a care package for her.

She told MailOnline: ‘Due to the COVID-19 outbreak most care homes in Hereford with places refused to take her so she was there a while.

The hospital were getting really annoyed [!] because they wanted her out as soon as possible and the bed freed up.

‘On Sunday (April 12) they discharged her to a care home in Worcestershire without consulting me or checking the home could meet her complex needs.’

The woman – who wanted to remain anonymous – added: ‘She arrived with a DNR, which said do not transfer back to hospital if she contracts COVID-19.

My mother has worked all her life and paid into the NHS they do not have the right to sign her death warrant because she’s old and has dementia.” [Daily Mail]

Big news from the USA and UK retail sector

J.C. Penney is probably going to go down. Meanwhile, in the UK, a study shows that half of the big non-food retailers have cash reserves sufficient for only 6 months. After that, gone.

That leaves until October before a tidal wave hits British high streets and shopping parks.

Local government

I suppose that I should no longer be capable of surprise that local and central government in this country is so incredibly stupid…; local councils have closed dumps/recycling centres. Result? Fly-tipping. Well, I mean, who on Earth could have predicted that? Anyone not an incompetent local penpusher…

In fact, “gypsies” (meaning Irish “traveller” tinker-types) do most of this. The stupid “lockdown” must be lucrative for them.

If it quacks like a duck…

Nineteen Eighty-Four had the officially-mandated “Daily Hate”, but we have both “Clap for the NHS” and (not-officially-mandated but certainly a result of the “Stay at Home/Protect the NHS/Save Lives” nonsense-propaganda) examples of “rural idiocy” like this: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8221117/Vigilantes-pour-PAINT-womans-car-wrongly-believing-second-home-lockdown.html

The unfortunate woman in that report has been far from the only victim of vigilante idiots during this misconceived “lockdown” period.

Better news

Labour Party Report

Well, fame at last! I am mentioned by name in the notorious Labour Party report on “antisemitism”, it seems. In fact, I am number three on the list of Labour Party members who were “investigated” for “antisemitism”!

Adolf Hitler always said that, despite what was (and is) often claimed, the Jews are a very stupid people at root.

“Exhibit A”: I am not, nor have I ever been, a member, supporter of, nor even voter for the Labour Party (or any System party). It seems that there is an “Ian Millard” who does or did belong to the Labour Party, and that some Jew (I presume) attributed one of my tweets from 2016 to that “Labour Party Ian Millard”. It then took Labour 217 days to discover that they had

  1. sent a Notice of Investigation [NOI] to that other Ian Millard (who “dindu nuttin”); and that
  2. that other Ian Millard had not posted the “offending” tweet [for, dear reader, it was I]…

Comedy gold! With that level of incompetence, Labour and its Jewish secret rulers and influencers should try running the UK again. Why not? It’s as good as finished now anyway!

Coronavirus speculation

Is this part of a great conspiracy to kill off most of the world population, maybe only a first, experimental phase or attempt? I would have dismissed such a theory out of hand a few months ago, maybe even 1-2 months ago. Now? Not sure.

There are sadnesses in life on Earth, which only music can express…

Coronavirus

BBC Radio 4 Today Programme drone pushing the “lockdown saves lives” rubbish, when in fact, taken overall, far more will die because of “lockdown”. They will die of everything except Coronavirus.

Looks as if the UK government (ZOG regime) is intent on keeping the “Coronavirus crisis” going as long as possible. In fact, the regime may well be quite content that, in care homes and private homes, the very elderly and unwell are dying “quietly”, out of the public eye. It solves for the regime the care crisis that it itself has created via spending cuts since 2010.

Conspiracy theory? I think not (ask Dominic Cummings and his “weirdos and misfits”).

Time for a European alliance of ethnostates

Down with globalism!

“The world is not without kind people” (Russian proverb)

Therese Coffey

Deadhead DWP Secretary, Therese Coffey, is trending on Twitter:

This government of fools (illegitimate ZOG regime) is lost without its part-Jew public entertainer, Boris-idiot (who apparently has now been tested for Coronavirus and shows no sign of it, oddly, despite his supposedly having been almost dying from it for two weeks; surely he would show “antibodies”? Perhaps either I, or the commentator, more likely, need to understand better the situation, the virus, the testing procedure or the language used.

Looks like I was right to blog about Therese Coffey as a “deadhead MP”!

https://ianrmillard.wordpress.com/2019/09/16/deadhead-mps-an-occasional-series-the-therese-coffey-story/

There is light at the end of the tunnel! Oh, no…it’s an approaching train!

Either Sky News or the useless “Office of Budget Responsibility” is looking for pie in the sky (Sky?). The near-collapse of the UK economy is already happening in reality, and the Government is now unlikely to finish this nonsense of “lockdown” any time soon, mainly because the Cabinet is now, in the absence of the part-Jew public entertainer Boris-idiot, posing as Prime Minister, akin to a headless chicken.

As for a swift “bouncing back”, where does that idea originate? In the Conservative Party propaganda department? Half of the world is still not functioning economically. By Autumn, the Coronavirus crisis/scare/whatever will be over, presumably, but in Europe (still our main trading area, despite Brexit) demand will be at rock-bottom. The same will be true of the USA/North America, our second most important area.

Domestic demand will be very weak too, in a situation where millions will be unemployed and where the “self-employed” (5 million people) will often be making little money. Pay generally is likely to be low. So from where does the “bounce-back” come?

Perhaps what is meant is that there will be a huge fall in activity, but then followed by an increase on that low figure.

Some tweets seen about “the situation”

https://twitter.com/AlexGethit/status/1249982536509521920?s=20

A kind word about me on Twitter. Rare, now that Twitter has been ethnically and politically “cleansed” by the Jew-Zionist element and its malicious and concerted campaign of “complaints” and “reports”…

(the tweeters below are discussing the self-publicizing solicitor, now an Israeli citizen, and who calls himself “Mark Lewis Lawyer”)

Incidentally, I still see people tweeting the 2016 report about me in the Independent. The report was one-sided but at least partly-accurate. I disliked as much, or more, the accompanying headless photograph, presented as if me, but which was of some other barrister.

I do not smoke, have never been a cigarette smoker, and had far better shoes than the barrister in that Independent photo! The Independent also seemed ignorant of the fact that “to practise law” is written thus, and not “to practice law”, which is only the correct usage in the USA. A small but telling point, symptomatic of the crashing standards in the terminally-sick UK Press (Lugenpresse; Judenpresse…).

My blog

I had a pleasing spike in blog hits yesterday: 435 views from 286 individual visitors. Far above the usual range.

The madness gets madder (something I keep thinking impossible, and then am proven wrong…)

https://twitter.com/wrongthinkQC/status/1249123958122741761?s=20

I blogged about such mad developments in UK and European society about 18 months ago, but the “window” keeps shifting toward ever-greater lunacy.

https://ianrmillard.wordpress.com/2018/11/15/when-reality-becomes-subjective/

Life on the breadline

I do not blame “Bootstrap Cook”, aka Jack Monroe, for using the unpleasant “Mark Lewis Lawyer” in her libel case against the commentator, Katie Hopkins, and it worked out for the Bootstrap Cook, though as a one-time practising barrister I can say with absolute certainty that a precocious child could have won that case against Katie Hopkins, who was evidently either badly-advised or not advised (I do not know whether she was “her own lawyer”, which is usually a mistake).

Anyway, I saw this Washington Post profile:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/food/tin-can-cook-jack-monroe-is-determined-to-show-people-how-to-eat-well–no-matter-their-budget/2018/12/07/f8ae7654-f422-11e8-bc79-68604ed88993_story.html

I have to say that, of the few of her recipes seen by me via her Twitter profile, I have not been enthusiastic about many, but I admit that I have never actually made (or tasted) any of them (they may well be pleasant in actuality). However, I think that this person is performing a public service.

We see in Britain how many people are living on peanuts (sometimes literally), the result of Britain’s economic and social decline combined with —mostly— Conservative Party government policies which have made tough times worse for so many, while the wealthy and very wealthy have thrived in the past 10-20 years especially. Anything that helps people both to survive, and survive without unnecessary pain, must be good.

Many people in the UK cook little, and eat far too many takeways etc, which may be not only unhealthy if taken in excess, but relatively expensive if indulged in frequently. That becomes even more true for those on very low incomes. Often one sees TV reports about people living on pennies getting Chinese takeaways, Indian curry, or fish and chips, and spending their little money on that. Fish and chips ?£5-£10 per head, an Indian or Chinese even more; the Indian place, in a nearby town, and that I use occasionally for takeaway (it’s also a restaurant), is very good but works out at about £15 a head.

I do not forget that sometimes people living in a poor way need something that just briefly seems to make life worth living, even if it is not the most healthy option. George Orwell wrote about that in one of his essays.

I am not merely opining de haut en bas here. I have been down there a few times… especially in — and for several months— 1998, when I had to learn to live in London on plain rice, one piece of fruit per day, bits and pieces (I even ate fruit abandoned by traders at street markets and left in empty boxes by the stalls!).

I had to be “creative” with the Underground (I expect that their technology would defeat me these days) and otherwise had to walk everywhere, trudging morosely past places formerly frequented as a customer, such as Julie’s restaurant in Holland Park, Raoul’s cafe in Little Venice (where I had formerly breakfasted daily in the early/mid 1990s) and other places barred to me by lack of cash such as the once-lovely River Room at the Savoy Hotel (I believe much changed since those days), where I always ate and drank the same thing: “Atlantic Platter” of fish and shellfish, washed down by pretty much the best Chablis I ever had.

Inside the new-look Savoy hotel - The Caterer

[above: The River Room at the Savoy. Actually not looking completely different to how it was c.1994, if memory serves, but the tables are ugly square things now; they used to have beautiful big round tables, even for two people; also, there is a less opulent look somehow, the tables now without full heavy white tablecloths]

Silver lining: I lost rather a lot of weight on my enforced diet with enforced exercise; in fact everyone told me how well I was looking!

“Bootstrap Cook’s” stuff is worth a look, anyway: https://twitter.com/BootstrapCook

More “Coronavirus” lunacy

Shocking footage shows a man brandishing a stick after being confronted by a furious local after he ignored the coronavirus lockdown to go camping in Wales. The video was posted on social media after the camper was confronted by a group of locals who asked him to leave the site at Llyn Cowlyd near Trefriw on Saturday.”

The daughter of the 60-year-old in the footage told  North Wales Live : “My dad was with the owner of the land and all they did was ask them to leave and said that the police were on their way.

Then the man threatened to hit my dad in the head with the stick. She added: “When the police arrived, the campers said they were from Hull. The officers were mortified.

“”They were fined and they traced the number plate to make sure they returned home.”

Her dad added: “It was unbelievable that they travelled all the way from Hull to the top of a mountain to camp when the whole country is on lockdown and the government clearly has instructed everyone to stay home unless necessary.” [Daily Mirror]

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/man-camping-wales-190-miles-21857381

Well, for me the lunacy is on the part of those locals. What possible harm in terms of spreading the virus can two people do, camping on a remote mountain? It seems that they left a mess. Well, fine them for that.

It just shows how quickly the masses have internalized the “we are slaves of the State and will do what the government says (even if very silly)” propaganda, given strength by the virus-“fear” aspect…Actually, what is borderline frightening is how easily supposedly rational individuals (as a mass) can be manipulated and controlled.

As for the locals, the story put me in mind, perhaps unfairly, of this:

The shutdown of the economy

Was just looking at the latest companies to actually go into administration. They are unlikely ever to return to active trading. Oasis, Warehouse and Debenhams. About 25,000 employees, currently on furlough, have nowhere to go when the stupid “lockdown” finishes. Their furlough money ends in June.

China

My feelings about China are torn: I hate the way the Chinese as a group abuse the natural world and especially the animals. In some ways they are very backward as a people. Also, the sheer numbers are an existential danger not only to Europe but to the whole planet. On the other hand, who could fail to be impressed by a display such as this?

Chris Tarrant

I have been wary of Chris Tarrant ever since I saw some “holocaust” rubbish he was pushing on TV. Naturally, as a “media person”, he wants to keep in with the Jew element that infests the mass media. Still, it is a pity that his type has little or no principle. Now I see that he is being exposed on Twitter:

“Let justice be tempered with…nonsense”

Michael Jonathan Wright failed to attend appointments on June 14 and June 21 last year as part of his community order made by the court on May 15 after he assaulted a police officer in Southampton on 30 August, 2018.

The court heard how the 38-year-old failed to provide a reasonable excuse for missing his appointments.

Appearing at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on April 7, he admitted the breach of his community order.

Wright, of Wills Road, Southampton, was handed a community order.”

[Southampton Echo]

https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/18374872.southampton-man-assaulted-pc-fails-obey-community-order/

Well, the fellow only assaulted a policeman, after all (then failed to comply with the terms of his initial sentence); it’s not as if he sang songs satirizing Jewish “holocaust” fakes and hoaxes, in the manner of Alison Chabloz! Be fair!…

Meanwhile, on the Coronavirus front

The Government has denied claims Whitehall officials have calculated up to 150,000 lives could be lost as a result of the lockdown.” [Daily Mail]

Note that: not “because of Coronavirus” but “because of the ‘lockdown'”.

It is worse than all but the bleakest projection if social distancing measures had not been introduced.” [Daily Mail]

So even the pro-Government newspaper people are waking up to the fact that the “lockdown” is causing, and/or will cause, directly and indirectly, more deaths than the Coronavirus itself.

Prince William

Ha ha! That thick princeling has exposed his mediocrity (again)…

https://twitter.com/SpillerOfTea/status/1249629290179821568?s=20

Oh dear. Actually, I have nothing much against “William”, except the absurdity of such a person eventually becoming a head of state (and, in the meantime, living a life of unbelievable privilege while pretending to be a human charity-bot). The bottom line, though, is “do we need him and his family?” Answer: no.

Ian Austin

The ex-MP, Ian Austin, is still pushing the Jew-Zionist-Israel cause on Twitter and elsewhere. The bastard certainly set the bar low when he was an MP:

  • pro-Israel, pro-Jewish lobby;
  • against freedom of speech (eg. re. “holocaust” fakery);
  • one or the worst expenses cheats and embezzlers of the 2005-2010 Parliament, and one who, in any other occupation, would have been prosecuted and probably imprisoned for fraud;
  • seems to have an interest in bestiality, of all things, or at very least thinks that pornography about it should be decriminalized!

I would not be surprised were I to discover that Jewish or Israeli sources paid out Tom Watson in cold hard cash, maybe offshore. Only my own genuine and reasonable opinion, of course. I have no direct evidence that such is the case…

Labour is finished. It need not have been. In 2017, Labour still had a run in it, had Corbyn had the courage (and actually the intellect) to challenge the Jews head-on. Now (((they))) have basically taken back what is left of Labour. The new leader, Keir Starmer, is married to a Jewish woman (a lawyer) and their children are being brought up as Jewish. Starmer has appointed Friends of Israel members as Shadow Cabinet members: Rachel Reeves, Lisa Nandy, Nia Griffith etc.

At present, Labour is around 25% in the all-UK opinion polls, for what that is worth.

In Scotland, those of generally social-democratic or even socialist views vote SNP for the most part. The lesbian bigmouth who once “led” Scottish Labour has long ago departed for the shekels of life as a Press columnist and North-of-Hadrian’s-Wall TV talking head, leaving her successors as “who he?” nobodies.

Scottish Labour now runs at about 12% in the polls, and has only about 20,000 members (and falling), out of about 5.5 million inhabitants of Scotland. About 1 Scottish Labour member for every 275 people in Scotland. The party now has only 1 Westminster seat (out of 59 in Scotland), 23 MSPs (out of 129), and only 241 out of 1,227 local government seats in Scotland. The message is clear: this is a declining, terminally-declining, rump of a formerly-powerful party.

The same is true to a lesser extent in England. Membership is high at nearly 600,000 and has increased since the 2019 defeat. In fact, Labour has the most members of any party in the whole of Europe. However, the figures for seats give a truer picture:

  • 202 MPs out of 650, less than a third (all-UK);
  •  179 MPs out of 533 (English seats);
  • 176 out of 785 members of the House of Lords;

and so on. Wales is going the same way: 22 Westminster seats still, out of 40, but at one time, and not long ago, almost all Welsh seats were Labour.

Membership numbers matter, up to a point, but are not the only factor of importance. In any case, 600,000 Labour Party members out of maybe 50 to 60 million persons eligible to vote is as little as 1 Labour Party member for every 90 or 100 potential voters.

In the scam binary Con-Lab electoral system that now exists, the Labour Party will attract votes from those opposed to the Conservative Party first and foremost, but as the polls show, that may be at or below 25% of voters.

Starmer and his pro-Israel creatures may recover some votes which Corbyn lost (and Starmer will have a fair wind from the infested pro-Zionist msm), but it may be that Starmer will also lose votes, the votes of the “socialist” voters (and also the anti-Jewish lobby voters).

My present view is that Labour is likely to stay where it is in the polls for some time. If a credible social-national party emerges, it might even go lower, as it has since 2015 in Scotland (despite the SNP being only faux-“nationalist”).

Look [below] at the idiot supporters (and MPs) Labour now has!

Ha ha!

End the “lockdown” panic-policy now!

“Credulous public” indeed. After all, if they can be persuaded that Germany killed six million Jews in “gas chambers” (of which latter there is no credible proof at all) and elsehow, in about 3 years or so (mainly 1941-44), then people can be persuaded of anything, I suppose. Not that the whole public does believe the fakery around the so-called “holocaust”, but many do. Some even still believe the WW2 propaganda (which originated in similar WW1 stories) that Jews were melted down to create soap, or their skins tanned to make lampshades or armchairs…I suppose that if you can believe that sort of thing, then the Coronavirus “millions will die” nonsense will not be so hard to swallow.

Japan: a country famous for its cleanliness. Admittedly, I have never been there and the very few Japanese I have met have been such as the young Japanese woman (a trainee diplomat) I once met at a special dinner in Cambridge, and she was squeakily clean (and incredibly charming), but I have no idea how typical she was. I should guess quite (typical), in that Japan is a country where they wash or shower before getting into the bath!

Now, I have noted before in my blog articles of the past days and weeks that the European countries exposed in a study of 2015 as the least clean in terms of washing hands after using the bathroom (Italy, Spain, France and the Netherlands) are also the ones which have been hardest-hit by Coronavirus.

The cleaner countries in terms of washing hands seem to be those where Coronavirus has not run out of control.

That sounds almost too simple, but one of the few facts about Coronavirus that we know beyond dispute is that the best way to fight it as a society is by frequent and thorough washing of hands, preferably using soap and water.

As I wrote a while ago, it really could be as simple as that. Other factors have secondary effect, of course. There is obviously less chance of getting infected if you live on an island without other inhabitants, but most of us cannot do that, and such conditions are hard to replicate in crowded UK urban areas.

Reminiscent of The Day of the Triffids, where the scientists cannot find a way to fight the Triffids, but at the end discover that simple seawater kills them. Sometimes the simple and/or final solution is right in front of us.

(sorry about the spoiler, but most British people have seen the film anyway, sometime in the past 58 years).

Odd indeed…

Does that mean that patients who cannot take care of themselves are just being dumped “in the community”?  Or that huge numbers of surgical operations are being postponed or cancelled?

Princess Beatrice

The daughter of Prince Andrew (the flunkey of “offed” Jew parasite, Israeli Intelligence source and paedophile, Jeffrey Epstein), is trending on Twitter because…well… look at a few tweets:

Well, that’s enough, I think. What I find alarming is that this thick ugly parasite is 9th in succession to the throne! Can you imagine what would happen if, by “a series of unfortunate events”, those ahead of her in line failed to make it to the finishing post? It does not bear thinking about…

Shopping foray

Despite thinking that the “lockdown” is largely nonsensical (and likely to result in far more deaths and miseries in the end than Coronavirus itself), I had not been out for 4 days when I went shopping for food and drink, mainly, today. Arriving at Waitrose an hour before early close (by reason of the religious holiday, Easter Monday), I found few cars in the car park. The black-clad Handmaid’s Tale-style Waitrose marshals were still around the entrance. I only had to wait a minute before being waved inside.

Shortages? Only bleach (every single brand, type and container gone) and dried pasta. Oh, and one of my regular purchases, kefir. At least all the plain/unsweetened flavour type was gone, leaving only Morello cherry (which I quite like) and various even sweeter fruit and other flavours (which I rarely buy).

Everything else, the other panic-buy and bulk-buy stuff (loo paper, water, bread, tinned fish, chicken, eggs) was there in quantity. Waitrose have really stepped up and met the challenge of stampeded consumers with several freezers and fridges and no shortage of funds.

As I predicted a while ago, the initial week or two of complete panic-buying has gone, but I do detect an undercurrent of “prudent bulk-buying”, people maybe buying a pack (or three, the maximum allowed now) of pasta (or whatever) every time they go in, which might well be every day or two. Why? I think, at a guess, that people are uncertain, do not know what might happen in 3, 6, 12 months, and want at least to know that they have months of pasta, if nothing else, in stock. Maybe they are not so wrong, in fact.

I overheard a conversation about selfish people holding large parties in someplace or other (maybe up North) and the speaker was angry because he had a relative in a bad way in hospital with, I presumed, Coronavirus. I am with him as far as such large excited gatherings are concerned (I don’t like or approve of them anyway), but to jump from that to the absurd “lockdown” we suffer under is not logical. That though is the point: the pathetic mantra of the government and its employees, “Stay at home, Protect the NHS, Save lives”, while in fact borderline meaningless, works as propaganda because it taps into emotion, not thought, primarily.

On the drive home, I noticed a white car with lights on behind me, some distance back. In fact, as if hanging back. My instinct said “police”, so I made sure that I was just within the speed limit. Sure enough, as it slowly gained on me, I could see that it was a marked police car (which had not been obvious at a distance). I thought that the lone driver might pull me over because of these absurd and inconvenient “lockdown” measures. No other car was on the highway (a rural A-road). I decided to turn off and see if he followed. In fact he did not follow and just drove on.

Just as well. I hate having boring conversations with traffic cops, though to be fair to them, they have not been too difficult on the few occasions over the years when I have been stopped. Anyway, I tend to think, like the character in the Vysotsky song, 07 [long-distance telephone code in the old Soviet Union], “It is night!…for me there is no law!” (and that despite the fact that my car is taxed and insured, has MOT up to date, and I myself have a valid licence with no points— I must just be paranoid!).

Another?
