Talking point

During the Nuremberg Trials, Hermann Göring gave an interview to psychologist Gustave Gilbert and said: “Of course the people don’t want war. Why would some poor farmer want to risk his life in a war when the best he can hope for is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally, people don’t want war. No one wants war in Russia, England, America — not even in Germany. That’s obvious. But in the end, it’s the leaders of a country who determine policy. And it’s always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it’s a democracy, a communist state, a parliament, or a fascist dictatorship.” Gilbert objected: “But there is one difference in a democracy — the people have a voice through their elected representatives.” To which Göring replied: “That’s all well and good, but whether the people have a voice or not, they can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and for exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nuremberg Diary, April 18, 1946.”

Apply that to the present pro-war frenzy in the “British” Press (“Lugenpresse”/”Judenpresse”); the attempt to foment a terrible and unnecessary war between the western, some central, and some eastern European states, and Russia.

Tucker Carlson talks with some Jewish woman. “Their” reactions are often hard to understand for a European (including any real-European-origin American). They are “strangers in a strange land” among us.

Note how she has recently visited Germany, but all she has taken away from her visit are some speculations about the genesis of the supposed “holocaust” of the early 1940s.

Naturally, that sounds derogatory or even cruel, but once you have encountered Africans, even those with paper qualifications etc, you realize how true it is, speaking generally. There are a few exceptions, but not very many.

We have to improve and raise the overall intellectual level of the UK (and the rest of Europe). That cannot be done when millions of very low-level migrant-invaders are flooding in (whether “legally” or “illegally”) and breeding.

Of course, it may be trite to refer to MPs, journalistic scribblers and talking heads etc as “traitors” and “enemies“, but then look at what they, most of them, have done for decades, and continue to do. Facilitation and promotion of the migration invasion, and the covering-up of its consequences, among many other crimes.

So a couple of Jews are stabbed in London, and it is supposedly a “national security emergency“, but four persons (not Jews) shot from a moving car, as in 1920s Chicago, and it is merely an everyday criminal incident…

According to Marco Rubio last week, Iran may have used half of its entire missile stockpile, but that may also be true of Israel, we do not know. We can be sure, though, that Iran will be working day and night to build more missiles of the most advanced type.

If that is so, I think that I know why it is so. Such places were tribal Labour for a century or more, and now those people feel betrayed. They never expected the Con Party to help them, but they also never expected the Labour Party to stab them repeatedly in the back, or in the front for that matter.

It did not start with Starmer-stein but with Blair and Brown. Mass immigration encouraged, the demonization of the British sick and disabled, the ATOS carpetbaggers, the uselessness of police and NHS quite often. Then, also, freeloading and/or fraudulent MPs such as (to give merely a few examples) Stephen Timms, Caroline Flint (now binned), Wes Streeting, Liz Kendall, Rachel Reeves (all members of Labour Friends of Israel).

What hurts more, the enmity of a long-term enemy, or betrayal by a former friend?

Import the lower races, import their low standards and ways of doing things (including business and politics).

Unexpected“? I have been predicting it for about 2 years, and proclaiming it as fact since Tice allied Reform to the Jewish lobby and Israel a while ago. Reform is rapidly becoming a System party and, now that it looks as though it may be able to form a government in 2-3 years, the Jewish/Israel lobby scrabbles to control it completely.

People are not going to vote Reform because they like or trust Reform or Farage, let alone Tice etc, but will vote Reform to hit out at both Labour and the Con Party.

System commentators live in the System Bubble and/or Westminster Bubble. They often fail to see that, for millions of people, this is not a clever little newspaper-scribblers’ game, nor a “debate” of some kind. For millions of people, this is a case of growing hatred of the way things are in this country, and that includes the System parties.

As I have repeatedly blogged.

If they cannot be stopped and/or turned back at sea, they should be offered the choice: a ticket home, or to somewhere else outside Europe, and a small monetary gratuity to encourage them, or sterilization (at the least). Europe including the UK must remain European.

I have to admit that I myself did not know that.

Creatures of Hell, who should be sent there as soon as possible.

You can be sure that Morgan McSweeney, a non-Jew who serves the Jewish and Israeli interest and who tried to take the bullet for Starmer recently, will be found a lucrative sinecure as a payoff.

Zoe Gardner has made a career of sorts out of propagandizing for mass immigration into the UK. I wonder, though, whether she understands what will happen to her and her type once the UK is a dystopian black/brown hellhole akin to those from which many of the migrant-invaders originate?

Look at that interview with idiotic Con Party MP, Helen Whately, a silver-spoon know-nothing airhead. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helen_Whately].

Completely in the pocket of the Jewish/Israel lobby. Also, a cautionary example of how unwise it is to think that a woman (or man, for that matter) is intelligent and/or well-informed just because she has a tick-box PPE degree from Oxford.

Completely idiotic.

Helen Whately is unlikely to retain her Faversham and Mid Kent seat, looking at her most recent election result; she retained the seat in 2024 with a very low 31.8% vote (Labour 28.6%; Reform 21.2%). Reform will probably win next time. She will hardly be on the breadline, though, being married to the CEO of an energy company.

Israel. Again.

The only factor to bear in mind is that it can only happen in Europe if the native populations want it badly enough, and are willing to pay the price (civil war) for it.

Leaving aside the politics, I have to commend that citizen for his garden (and flag!). An unaesthetic bungalow with a postage-stamp lawn, but his little trees and bushes have made a real difference. A few more, and it would be even better. If all the other dwellings in the neighbourhood did the same, the area would be transformed, very likely.

Terrible.

When I returned to the UK after a spell in Rhodesia, aged not quite 21, in 1977, I had no serious (well they were taken seriously, back then…) educational qualifications such as “A” Levels or a degree (having dropped out of school aged 16). I did not start to acquire such exam-pass qualifications until I was in my mid-twenties. However, it was very easy in those days to pick up casual/temporary low-level jobs in warehouses, factories, Post Office sorting facilities (heaving sacks of mail around) etc. You really had only to apply, in most cases. That was then.

Later, I acquired a law degree, then a Bar qualification (in fact, two, being Bar of England and Wales and the Bar of the State of New York, as well as a couple of “comity admissions” in other jurisdictions.

Terrible architecture (the new one; the older one merely undistinguished), but the worst thing is that Nature had a little space or haven there previously; now none.

Rather odd.

A thought out of season

I saw “Maureen Lipman” trending on Twitter/X today, and thought that perhaps she was at last going to make good on her much-repeated “threat” (or should that be “promise”?) to leave the UK by reason of “antisemitism” here, and go to live in either Israel or the USA. Sadly, no. It all has to do with some trivial storm in a teacup in a Scottish theatre.

22 July

I have just watched 22 July, a 2018 Netflix production about the 2011 massacre and bombing in Norway carried out by Anders Breivik.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anders_Behring_Breivik

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/22_July_(film)

Overall impression: quite well made, but very slow in the last hour [143 minutes in all].

As to Breivik and his action, I was not blogging in 2011, so have never written anything substantial about all that. I did blog about the rather similar attack which happened in New Zealand in 2019:

Triple Lock

I disagree with the lady tweeter, but of course I would, being now 69 and markedly impecunious!

If the rubbish i Paper is right, then that is yet another reason to keep the Triple Lock…

Equally if not more seriously, that lady has apparently learned nothing from the fact that her ex-husband, one-time MP for Poole, lost his seat in 2024 (thus also depriving the lady in question of a fairly well-paid job as part of his office staff, though they were divorced long ago). She now pretends to run something called The Moderates, which I (perhaps uncharitably) think has a “membership” about the same as the number of empty bottles in her kitchen or cellar, and quite possibly no members at all.

At present, the Conservative Party is polling around 15%-19%, and may well be left with fewer than 50 MPs at the next general election (116 at present, already by far the lowest in its nearly 200-year history; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservative_Party_(UK)#UK_general_election_results).

Part of the reason Rishi Sunak did so badly at GE 2024 is because he is Indian, but another major factor (of several) was that, for one year, 2021/2022, he paused the Triple Lock, making pensioners worse off. He reinstated it before GE 2024, but by then the damage was done.

A very large proportion of the Conservative Party vote in 2024, as always in the past, consisted of people over 60. Many former Con voters, though, did not vote, or voted Reform. The Con Party has not recovered, and will (in my opinion) never recover. Abandoning the Triple Lock would hammer in the final nail.

https://yougov.com/en-gb/articles/49978-how-britain-voted-in-the-2024-general-election.

Now, bearing in mind that the Con Party is already usually opinion-polling below 20%, imagine the reaction from the pensioner voters were the Con Party to abandon the Triple Lock; Con Party support would decline to around 15%, maybe even to 10%, and the party be all but wiped out.

The same is true of Labour, though. Labour polling is already on or nearly on life support. Getting rid of the Triple Lock would dent the surviving Labour vote very considerably. At GE 2024, 20% of voters aged 70+ were still voting Labour, as were 28% of voters aged 60-69.

So far, Reform has pledged to retain the Triple Lock, thus locking-in a good proportion of that crucial 60+ age-group vote.

Look at the Con Party. Led by a Nigerian woman (that, alone…) who is a finance-capitalist stooge completely in the pocket of the Israel/Jewish lobby, and who only has a British passport because her parents deliberately had her born in London (only staying for a few days in 1980).

Are many people going to vote Con, either at the next GE or in the 7 May 2026 local elections? I doubt it.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/may/01/egyptian-human-skulls-pitt-rivers-dorset-auction-house

An auction house has withdrawn 18 ancient Egyptian human skulls from sale after an MP said selling them would perpetuate the atrocities of colonialism.

The skulls of 10 men, five women, and three people of uncertain sex, were listed by Semley Auctioneers in Dorset, with a guide price of £200-300 for each lot.

They were originally collected by the Victorian British soldier and archaeologist Augustus Henry Lane Fox Pitt-Rivers, who founded the University of Oxford’s Pitt Rivers Museum in 1884.

The skulls, some of which are listed as coming from Thebes and date to 1550-1292 BC, were part of Pitt Rivers’ lesser-known second collection, which he displayed in a private museum on his estate in Farnham, Dorset.

Parts of the collection were later sold by Augustus’s grandson, George Pitt Rivers, a eugenicist, who was interned by the British government during the second world war due to his support for the fascist leader Oswald Mosley.”

[The Guardian]

See also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Pitt-Rivers.

George Henry Lane-Fox Pitt-Rivers (22 May 1890 – 17 June 1966) was a British anthropologist and eugenicist who was one of the wealthiest men in England in the interwar period. He embraced anti-Bolshevism and anti-Semitism and became a supporter of Oswald Mosley, which led to him being interned by the British government for two years during the Second World War.

In 1920 he published a book, The World Significance of the Russian Revolution, the first of his anti-Bolshevik and anti-Semitic public activities. In it he wrote “the Jews are the principal agents of economic and political misery in the world, through their dealings in international finance and their actions in promoting democracy and revolution”.[16]

Pitt-Rivers was a member of The Link, a group which as its name suggests was meant to serve as a link to the NDSAP along with the British Council Against European Commitments headed by Lord Lymington.[24]

On 27 June 1940, Pitt-Rivers was arrested as a potential traitor.[24] He was an unpopular landlord whose tenant farmers greatly feared him, and there were concerns that he would be lynched by his tenants in the event of a German invasion.

Pitt-Rivers was held in Brixton Prison and Ascot internment centre (1940–1942) during the Second World War as a Mosleyite Nazi sympathiser under the Defence Regulation 18B.[1][27]

After the Second World War, Pitt-Rivers met Stella Lonsdale, who had been incarcerated in Paris by the Germans, suspected of being a British spy; when she eventually managed to make her way to England, she was imprisoned under suspicion of being a German spy.[30] She became the mistress of Pitt-Rivers and took his surname, although they never married. Stella inherited substantial property from Pitt-Rivers when he died in 1966.[31]

In his will, he left instructions that any properties to be sold must be offered individually, rather than as an estate, in order that tenants might buy the properties they leased from the Pitt-Rivers Estate.[32] Much of the village of Okeford Fitzpaine was thus sold to former tenants.

Stella also sold a large proportion of the artefacts held in the Pitt-Rivers Museum at Farnham, Dorset, which she had also inherited from Pitt-Rivers.

[Wikipedia]

The Wikipedia full version is more hostile yet to its subject; tendentious in places. If Pitt-Rivers cared so little for his tenants, why did his will provide for them to have the chance to buy the properties they had under lease from the estate during his lifetime?

Well, there it is.

There should be an institute or umbrella organization to co-ordinate historical, ethnographic and other studies, as existed in the German Reich under the name SS-Ahnenerbe, but with the difference that, while SS-Ahnenerbe was oriented towards the past, the new institute would be oriented towards the future.

I don’t see the possibility that Ukraine can win on the battlefield, said Vadim Skibitsky, deputy head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

“Russia broke through the front at Ocheretin. The recent rotation of Ukrainian troops there was unsuccessful and the Ukrainian armed forces are unable to stabilize the situation.

The situation for Ukraine is now the most difficult since the beginning of the Second World War. The Russian army acts as a ‘one body’ with a clear plan and a single command ,” he explains.”

As frequently repeated on this blog, Russia cannot lose this war, and will not lose it.

The various peoples of Europe, particularly Western Europe, are now starting to realize that their own supposed leaders are actually their enemies.

Hardly surprising that the Kiev regime is finding it impossible to recruit soldiers willing to volunteer, or even willing to risk being forced into service.

“Member of the British Parliament, former Minister of the Armed Forces James Heappie – that NATO will have to send its troops to Ukraine: “There is no table that says they need 1,000 tanks, they need 300 fighters, they need 2,000 artillery pieces, and then they will win. It doesn’t work that way.

[Then need British troops on the ground?]

In Western Ukraine to provide training, yes. Macron was right when he put forward this idea. Because the idea is that you are going to rotate Ukrainian brigades from the front line and take them a thousand miles to the rear in Germany or Poland to train them in this high level. level of combined maneuver, I just don’t think it’s realistic.

I don’t think the Ukrainian generals can afford to keep them off the front line for that long.

So I think the next big step forward is not capabilities in the form of a weapon system or something. “The next big step is the arrival of the military in Western Ukraine to conduct this combined training.”

Cretins such as James Heappey will sleepwalk this country into a major war, and we shall be lucky to live through it.

Rumours emerging that Susan Hall has won London Mayoral on low turnout. We won’t know until Sat evening. Wonderful if true, but let’s be clear: not to do with Sunak who did next to nothing for her and she was given minimum CCHQ support. The Sunakites wanted Korski. Would be down to @Councillorsuzie – her tenacity, true Conservative principles and decency, if true. Don’t be fooled by Sunak’s claims.

If that turns out to be true, it would be an incredible turn-up. The last opinion poll I saw had Khan on 45% and Susan Hall on 27%.

As predicted for years on this blog, in the absence of a realistic electoral system, the voters are doing what they can to ameliorate the deficiencies of FPTP voting, by voting tactically.

The other point, made over the past couple of years, more forcefully over the past year, is that most voters have one aim at present, and that aim is not, as such, to elect a Starmer-Labour government; it is to stamp on the Conservative Party and, if possible, wipe it out.

Reform UK is not social-national, but “populist” small-c “conservative”, just like Farage’s earlier attempts, UKIP and Brexit Party.

Reform UK has no real ideology and, looking at its pro-Israel, pro-Jewish lobby viewpoints, no real national credentials.

That is why Reform UK is not doing better. Were it social-national, even to the very limited extent of, say, the former Front National in France, it might be looking at becoming the official Opposition, or even the Government. As it is, winning a couple of seats in the Westminster monkeyhouse seems to be its highest aim this year.

Susan Hall has some very odd connections“, says Stephen Timms, who was quite content to be on good terms with the ATOS fraudsters and carpetbaggers.

Migration invasion

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10192937/France-accused-ceding-territory-people-smugglers-700-migrants-cross-Channel.html

[migrant-invaders off the coast of England]

1,000 one day, 700 the next, even 1,200 on one day last week. This is an invasion. The fact that it consists of migrant-invaders in rubber boats, mostly unarmed, is irrelevant.

It will be recalled by some, perhaps older readers, that, when King Hassan of Morocco decided to take over the mineral-rich region of Spanish Sahara (now Western Sahara), he was opposed by Spain, then still ruled by Franco, who however was then at death’s door (d. 20 November 1975).

Hassan cunningly decided that, rather than invade Spanish Sahara in the conventional way, where his troops would be up against the very tough Spanish Foreign Legion [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_Legion] and other military elements, he would use what is now sometimes called “soft power”, a “people’s march”, thus pressuring Spain via the UN.

Hassan’s ploy worked. The gods or the stars were on his side, in that the march took place from 6 November 1975 and, Spain being paralyzed by the expected death of Franco, the Spanish authorities not only did not attack the Moroccan marchers, but even had minefields cleared for them! See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_March; and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_Sahara#Modern_history.

What we now see in the English Channel, as well as elsewhere, both around the UK and in other parts of Europe, is an invasion, presented otherwise by a transnational political and msm conspiracy.

The UK is the target destination for the migrant-invaders. Part of that is the relatively easy help available as soon as they get here (hotel accommodation, food, pocket money of about £50 a week); part of it is because the UK cities are becoming black/brown and are not fully European any more, thus perhaps seeming more welcoming. There again, unofficial (and untaxed) work is widely available for those that want it; for those that don’t, the social welfare system, though cut back in recent years, still provides plenty for people used to living in backward societies.

Whatever.

21 years ago, I went over to Calais for the day, with car, and on a free ticket, to buy booze and cheese, mainly. It was at about that time that concerns about the illegal immigrants started to become louder.

In early evening, I had a drink in a little bar not far from the hotel de ville. I mentioned the immigrants, who even then were becoming apparent in Calais. The bar owner told me, “we are not troubled so much by them. They stay for a few days, a week, then they move on to England“. Need one say more about the French attitude?

A reminder: that was in the year 2000, 21 years ago. The UK authorities were not effectively barring entry then and, 21 years later, still are not…

The key question is how to stop the migration invasion of the UK. Harsh though it is, I can see no choice left but to use brute force, and if that means sinking the invasion fleet in the Channel, so be it.

Of course, the fact is that the System politicians “of all parties” (meaning from the one big uber-cabal, but posing as separate parties) want the invaders to arrive, because the international conspiracy (or consensus of power) is following the Coudenhove-Kalergi Plan. See https://www.westernspring.co.uk/the-coudenhove-kalergi-plan-the-genocide-of-the-peoples-of-europe/; and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_von_Coudenhove-Kalergi; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_von_Coudenhove-Kalergi#Views_on_race_and_religion.

In his 1925 book Practical Idealism, Coudenhove-Kalergi envisioned an all-encompassing race of the future made up of “EurasianNegroid[s],” replacing “the diversity of peoples” and “[t]oday’s races and classes” with a “diversity of individuals.”[42]

In an interview in the first Pan-European Congress in 1926, he expressed the support of Jews by the Pan-European movement and the benefits to Jews with the elimination of racial hatred...” [Wikipedia].

Well, there you have it, right from the horse’s mouth. European peoples wiped out, replaced by “Eurasian Negroids”, and real diversity of European peoples replaced by a meaningless “diversity” of individuals, all of which individuals to be, ultimately, mixed-race “Eurasian Negroids”. That, and society ruled by the Jewish element.

You could not describe more succinctly what is now developing in the UK, France, and elsewhere. Not only in Europe, but also in the former offshoots of Europe: Australia, USA, even New Zealand.

I would urge as many readers as can to send this blog post, or the information above, to those unaware of the true situation. Enlightenment as to all of the above is still eluding the broad mass of people in the UK, though the number understanding what is going on is slowly growing.

As for dealing with the conspirators themselves, I hold my peace for now, in view of Britain’s now very repressive curbs on free speech.

Incidentally, the “readers’ comments” appended to that Daily Mail report are telling: many of those commenting plainly despise both/all System parties, and want to vote for a party which does not yet exist.

A reference both to the present Israeli Ambassador’s spoken and written view that marriage between Jews and non-Jews is “a problem” that should be addressed, and to the fact that Keir Starmer is married to a Jewish woman (and their offspring are being brought up as if full-Jew, complete with Jewish religious holidays etc).

The fact is that the puppets of Jewish and Israeli power, people such as Keir Starmer, Boris Johnson etc, have to take any insults that the Jews throw at them, because they are slaves or curs of that Jewish-Israel lobby. “Boris” did it after Shai Masot, from the Israeli Embassy, called him “an idiot”. “Boris”, in Parliament, later, just laughed off the Jew’s insult, or tried to…

Reasons not to vote Labour

Here’s a few:

Yes, the Conservative Party (particularly part-Jap sadist Iain Dunce Duncan Smith) made a bad social welfare system far more cruel, but never forget that it was the Labour Party under Blair and (especially) Gordon Brown that introduced lying “assessments”, “sanction” regimes, ATOS etc— and some of those responsible are still “Labour” MPs; Stephen Timms, for one.

Anyone wanting to get rid of the present “Conservative” regime, and thinking that the “Labour” Party is the answer, think again.

Well, that’s better than the situation in the UK, where since the 1970s the amount of space per person has shrunk. Hutches for masses?

Communism“? Socialism, surely? I thought that Hitchens was once a Marxist (Trotskyist)?

“From the sublime to the ridiculous”, 1960s Prime Minister Harold Wilson almost invariably smoked a pipe in public to show that he was one of “the people”, whereas in fact he preferred cigars (Havanas), not a very “proletarian” choice (even in Cuba).

[Prime Minister of the UK, Harold Wilson, 1966, at Hugh Town, St. Mary’s, Isles of Scilly, with me (aged 9, or just 10, on far left of photo), brothers, and bodyguard (almost out of shot, far right)]

Unwilling to register with the Independent, I cannot read that article, but the conclusion seems (based on the quoted remark) to be right. Starmer, the Jewish Lobby puppet, is (as I predicted from the start) hopeless and as dull as ditchwater, but he is no more “the problem” for Labour than was the rather different Corbyn.

Labour’s problem is that there is no longer a “proletariat” or (in the old sense) a “working class”, there is no more a bloc “Labour vote”, there are no more, or very few, “working class communities”, as such, no nationalized industries of any size, and no great loyalty to Labour, even in its traditional North and North-East heartlands.

The Labour Party itself has changed out of all recognition since its highest point of popularity in 1945. From being a largely socialist party, it moved to social-democracy and then, arguably, in the 1990s under Blair, ditched even that. It became really just a label (or as the egregious waste of space, freeloader, and careerist, Jess Phillips MP, put it, “just a ****ing rose“). Rather like those Latin American countries where the almost-identical parties distinguish themselves by colour: the Blancos v. the Colorados. Like football teams, or the racing silks in the Hippodrome at Byzantium.

It is hard to see now for what the Labour Party stands. Starmer seems to be saying that he supports almost all of what Boris-Idiot’s maladministration does, but that “Boris” should do it better!

In fact I saw a satirical comment to the effect that, were the “Conservative” misgovernment to reintroduce workhouses, Labour under Starmer would agree, but cavil that that should be done more efficiently and slightly more humanely! A joke? Yes, sort-of…but then look at the attack on the unemployed, disabled etc over the past 15-20 years. Which party really started that? Labour…Yes, the “Conservative” Jew-lobby regime of David Cameron-Levita made it worse, but all that nonsense started under Gordon Brown and his lunatic misgovernment, via Alastair Darling, Stephen Timms etc. They, not the Conservatives, brought in the crazily dysfunctional —and also dishonest— ATOS carpetbaggers, for example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Work_Capability_Assessment#History.

As I have often said, Labour is now basically the party of the blacks and browns and/or public service workers, which is why Labour eulogizes the NHS constantly (though the NHS is a very hit-and-miss service overall).

Really, one has to ask (again), “what (and who) is Labour for?”

I imagine that the victor in the upcoming local elections will be apathy, with few people turning out to vote.

This is the moment when a social-national party might make hay. If a social-national party actually existed. A real one, I mean, not the joke ones presently around.

Well, this week I did no better than John Rentoul; we both scored only 4/10 (though if I were to follow Rentoul’s usual practice, I could award myself an extra half-point for knowing that Father Ted was set on an Irish island, though I did not know its name). I had no idea as to questions 1, 2, 7, 8, and 10.

Shchi [щи], or Russian cabbage soup, is one of those things that can be either very pleasant or not very pleasant, other examples being borshch [борщ](beetroot soup), kvass [квас](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kvass) etc.

I suppose it is true of some British foods too. In the end, it is, of course, a question of taste. De gustibus non est disputandum. I like oysters; many do not. I like caviar (when afforded); many do not. I like (boiled and then fried) buckwheat kasha (probably because I ate it daily at one time, long ago); many do not, and think such a choice very odd indeed.

I have no particular animus against Boris-Idiot’s latest “ho” (to use the amusing American black term), but it is scandalous if (and it seems that) the woman has any but purely peripheral and personal influence on national affairs. After all, with the best will in the world, she got to her present position of influence on her back, to put it perhaps slightly crudely and…well, let’s leave that there! Suffice to say that she has never been elected, or even appointed, to any position of significance (and, no, I do not regard her unsuccessful period pumping out propaganda for Conservative Party HQ as that).

The woman likes animals, we are told. I approve heartily of that; and if (as it seems from what I have seen in photos) she has no taste, or employs an expensive interior decorator who has no taste, well…that is the way of the world. If her refurbishment at Downing Street is more “nouveau” than simply new, well…again…these things happen.

I should not like to tar Carrie Symonds with the brush justly censuring Boris-Idiot, but that immunity disappears if, as often claimed, she is interfering with, or even deciding, policy.
