David Lammy

I was just laughing again at the following clip from Mastermind:

I first posted the above clip about 6 months ago, and then wrote that, “Good grief! Someone sent me the clip below. I knew that Lammy was/is a deadhead, and in fact I have been meaning for a long time to add an assessment of him to my “Deadhead MPs” series, but…well, see for yourself!” and “People will say, “oh, but he is a barrister, has several degrees etc”…yes, and one of the most stupid (and ignorant) people I ever met was a former Sierra Leone diplomat, a High Commissioner to the UK when in London, and ambassador to some other state. That African had degrees from one of the most famous English universities, one from the Sorbonne, one from either Harvard or Yale (I forget).” Then I added, “Imagine Lammy as either Lord Chancellor or Attorney-General! Still, now that Keir Starmer is running what is left of Labour into the ground, such appointment is unlikely.”

Well, Lammy is still only Shadow Lord Chancellor, thank God. Britain is now mainly a crazy, multikulti, mess.

Vigil

I am currently watching a British drama called Vigil: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vigil_(TV_series). Fairly well done, but sadly with flaws typical of the contemporary UK msm.

The most obvious box-tick is the number of blacks and browns in leading roles: the captain of the nuclear submarine Vigil is a black, while the medical officer on board is an (?) Indian woman. Ashore, about half the Scottish (Glasgow) police detectives are non-white, and of the two main MI5 officers in the drama, one is seemingly Pakistani or something else.

Another box-tick is that, of the two women police detectives, the older one, a grieving quasi-widow, has a lesbian affair with the other. Well, such things happen, and there are, no doubt, both Glasgow detectives and naval officers (and MI5 personnel) who are non-white. In such proportion, though? In every TV drama?

That propaganda is not aimed primarily at people of my age (65) but at young people and, indeed, children (whatever and whenever the “watershed” is supposed to be). A few other points about Vigil caught my attention. The GRU officer caught in Glasgow was interviewed about a murder (in which he was the only obvious suspect) without a lawyer present (despite having asked for one), and apparently without having been cautioned, and the interview was plainly not being taped (as far as I could see). At least three serious breaches of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, aka PACE. Not very good for a “police procedural” type of drama.

Again, the GRU [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GRU] officer under diplomatic cover, caught in Glasgow in activities “incompatible with his diplomatic status”, did not, on being caught, immediately proclaim his diplomatic status (and so immunity); neither did he demand to be released at once, or to have contacted for him the Russian Consulate, as a real one would have done.

Not that such “demands” are always treated respectfully. When I myself was arrested (or as the Egyptian army and secret police said repeatedly, “not arrested”) in Alexandria in 1998, and held for about 11 hours by Egyptian Army intelligence/security and then the Mukhabarat (secret police), I asked repeatedly for the British Consul, only to be told (also repeatedly) that I was “not arrested”, but just “answering a few questions“, or “a few more questions“; also, that “the Consul will be very busy…“, and “the Consul is only for the most serious cases…you do not want to be treated as a serious case, do you?“…

Well, if you put it like that…

I suppose that one could take issue with the first part of Griffin’s tweet: it was not the State ownership of the means of production that crippled socialist economies, but the fact that the State, the political sphere if you like, operated companies etc, in other words made all the important decisions. Admittedly, in many such cases that will be the same as “ownership”.

It is noteworthy that Jews in the UK are among the most fervent supporters of Covid vaccination(s) and vaccines, the facemask nonsense, and all the repressive measures introduced by this crazed government of clowns since early 2020. I am not sure exactly why that should be, but it is a fact that I have noticed. Admittedly, £81,000 is not a fortune these days, especially when taxable etc, but bearing in mind that average UK pay is only about £31,000 (and the median far less even than that, and less again if those dependent on State benefits and pensions are included), I doubt that many will think MPs are hard done by. Even less so when one considers how many have other sources of income, such as second jobs, “consultancy” “work”, money from scribbling or being TV talking heads etc; not to mention the very many who have large monies via inheritances.

Many MPs are also buy-to-let parasites.

In the end, MPs are volunteers. If they think that they are worth more than £81K p.a., let them go and get it on the open market. Few can do so, which is why so many are found sinecures in state employment, or in quangos (via cronyism) when they lose their seats.

Spitting Image

Younger readers of my blog will not recall Spitting Image, the satirical puppet show broadcast last in 1996 (apparently, there is a now a new version on pay-TV): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spitting_Image.

The show was wildly popular in the late 1980s Thatcher period and, later, during the time of the John Major government. Politicians and other international figures were cuttingly, even cruelly, mocked: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spitting_Image#International_politicians.

I just saw this amusing take-off of the UK television quiz show, Mastermind [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mastermind_(British_game_show)], satirizing the Israeli Prime Minister and former anti-British terrorist, Shamir [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yitzhak_Shamir]:

Needless to say, in the Britain of 2021, where the political field is completely ruled by Jewish/Zionist interests, such a show could never be broadcast. The Jewish pressure groups such as the very small but well-funded “Campaign Against Antisemitism” [“CAA”] would be on the case at once, whining about “antisemitism” and “race hate” etc.

Similar whining probably did occur even 30+ years ago, but the UK’s political, legal, and law-enforcement milieux were less “infested” then. Also, “they” had not managed to have Parliament pass bad and repressive laws against freedom of expression, such as Communications Act 2003, s.127.

Spitting Image was at least as cutting at times as the more recent cartoons and songs of Alison Chabloz, for which she has been serially prosecuted over the past 3 years, though her several months of imprisonment just recently were triggered not by satire but simply by her participation in an Internet “radio” podcast discussion. A sign of the times.

I notice that some replies to the above tweet make similar points:

My view is slightly different: assess students. Give the top 10% full grants to cover both tuition and living expenses. Give partial grants (maybe tuition only) to the next 20%. Anyone else to be permitted to attend any institution if they raise the funds themselves or take loans which would have to be repaid no matter what pay the lender eventually gets when employed or self-employed.

A large number of poorly-functioning academic institutions should probably be closed down.

I am no medic, but there has been, from the start, something not right about the whole System narrative around the Covid-19 “panicdemic”.

First of all, in early 2020, we were told that this was something almost akin to the 1970s British TV series, Survivors (no relation to the funny Alison Chabloz banned song of the same name): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Survivors_(1975_TV_series); incidentally, writing this, I notice that Survivors was remade in 2008, still with the same idea, i.e. that a Chinese lab releases a deadly virus, which spreads worldwide, changing everything…makes you think.

So, anyway, we were all thoroughly frightened in early 2020. However, measures such as the facemask nonsense were not implemented in the UK for about another 7 months. In some parts of Europe, notably Sweden, there was no panic, no facemask nonsense, all the bars and offices stayed open, and —quelle surprise— outcomes were better than in the UK and the other panicked parts of Europe (France, Germany, Italy, Belgium etc).

Since then we have seen that, in the world as a whole (even on the very inflated and misapplied statistics used), maybe 5 million people have died of or, rather, with “the virus”, which figure sounds huge but is out of 8 BILLION people. In other words, roughly one person out of every 1,800.

In fact, most of the deceased had other life-threatening problems anyway, many have been very aged (thus with low immunity), and many have become part of the death-statistics simply because they had (unreliable) positive tests for “the virus” up to a month prior to their death (which might even have been in a car accident). Absurd.

The UK is now going to be hit with poverty and restriction thanks to the policies applied for nearly two years by part-Jew chancer “Boris” and Indian “clever boy” Rishi Sunak. Pensioners are going to be hit as far as they can be without alienating their mainly pro-Conservative Party votes entirely; taxes overall will be increased by stealth as far as possible.

Huge amounts that could have been spent improving infrastructure and/or the environment have been just squandered on nothing much, squandered for no reason.

The crazed “furlough” payments and other policies did not come free of charge, though the masses probably, in fact clearly, assumed that they did.

As Labour is now, its only hope of office is to get to within about 50-60 seats of a Commons majority, and then to make a compact of some sort with the SNP and its MPs (numbering, at present, 45). However, the SNP would only make such a compact on the firm understanding of an early Indyref Mark 2. If that were to happen, and if, then, the SNP won such a second “indyref”, then the UK would break up, the SNP would no longer be in the Commons at all, and Labour as a party of government would be history.

Good point from Hitchens here. The point is valid also in respect of the Second World War. In the UK, great strides were being made in the 1930s in the areas of town planning, housing etc; the Depression poverty of the North was certainly not replicated in the South of England, generally speaking, certainly not in the late 1930s. The War spoiled much of the good that was happening. Britain only started to recover from its pyrrhic victory from or after 1955.

Rewilding

Over the past decade, ideas I have had for a long time (rewilding, a “wildlife grid” etc) have become almost mainstream. I am glad to see it. Both charities and wealthy individuals are leading the way. People with fewer resources are also joining in, in various ways (by keeping part of their private gardens “wild”, by not using pesticides and herbicides etc), and their numbers count, bearing in mind that the UK has anything up to 10 million acres of private gardens.

While researching on Wikipedia today, I noticed that the now long-deceased aunt of a one-time girlfriend had once been one of the governors of the BBC. I knew that she had been a life peer, but not that she had been on the BBC Board of Governors. Saw a few other things about her that I did not previously know. In some respects an intellectual pioneer. She would have been interesting to talk to, but died in the Spring of 1981, before (though not long before) I met her niece. Pity.

“A pair of female thieves dubbed the “Rolex Rippers” have seemingly struck again after a wealthy elderly man had his watch stolen….

On Tuesday, the man in his 80s became the latest victim of two women who are targeting men in affluent areas and close to exclusive golf clubs across southern England.

The theft is believed to be at least the 21st incident, with the duo, thought to be in their 20s, targeting men in Dorset, Hampshire, Surrey, Gloucestershire and Sussex.

In many cases, the women have posed as charity workers with clipboards and have stolen watches from their victims without them realising as they sign a petition.

However, other times they have been less subtle and simply ripped the expensive timepieces off the men’s wrists.

This time the pair approached the man outside his home in Links Road, Poole, which is next to £2,000-a-year Parkstone Golf Club, at lunchtime on Tuesday.

They asked him to sign a petition and then one of the women thanked and hugged him. He did not notice until a few minutes later that his watch had been taken.

‘Be mindful of being approached’

A spokesman from Dorset Police said: “It is believed that these females are responsible for a series of similar thefts across Dorset this year and the public should be mindful of being approached in this manner or engaging in conversation with the individuals.”

The pair are believed to have struck in Dorset at least seven times before in Poole, Wimborne, Wareham, Ferndown, Highcliffe and Poundbury.

Hampshire Police said they have at least 10 victims, and two brothers, aged 85 and 91, were targeted 80 miles apart in Gloucestershire and Surrey.

Both women are said to be aged in their 20s or 30s and between 5ft 2ins and 5ft 9ins tall. They both have dark hair and Eastern European accents although some victims have believed them to be Spanish.

The spate of robberies are thought to have begun on May 19 at Stoneham Golf Club near Southampton.” [Daily Telegraph].

More Memory Lane

Oddly enough, I was just looking, not long ago, on Google maps and Google Earth, at the area of Sydney, Australia, where I lived, in the late 1960s, for 2-3 years as a child of 10-13 (Ellalong Road, Mosman/Cremorne and, for the first 6 months or so, Wyong Road, Mosman). Also, the area around the nearby little school that I attended at first (Middle Harbour PS, at Macpherson Street, Mosman; I was later at North Sydney Boys’ High, a few miles away, for 7-8 months).

Many changes. I notice that quite a few roads, including Ellalong, have been made into dead ends to prevent through traffic. A good move. Other changes? Well, quite a few houses there in the late 1960s have been demolished and replaced by much larger ones; larger houses, smaller gardens. Google Earth shows that almost every house in that neighbourhood now has a swimming pool. In 1967-69, not many did.

I notice a change in street vegetation. Far more small trees and flowering bushes, as far as I can recall. Fewer palm trees, though. There seems to have been, perhaps, a move to native species, and to more green/flowering trees, though the tall imperial palms near my old school are still there.

Overall, I should say that that neighbourhood is rather more scenic now, because of the flowering abundance, though with far more cars, both moving and parked on the street (if I remember aright, street parking was unusual when I lived there). Looking at the pictures, an impression of greater wealth overall, perhaps.

That was also true of Balmoral Beach (which was the nearest convenient beach to us, about 5-10 mins in the car). Many cafes, and a more manicured look generally.

Went to supermarket in local town. Whoever has suffered over the past 12 years of “austerity” nonsense and “lockdown” nonsense, it cannot have been (at least some of) the local people who shop at Waitrose. A superfluity of Range-Rovers and other large SUVs, as well as Porsches, Mercedes, and even the odd Morgan.

Completed my modest shop and bought a £5 scratchcard. Looked like a non-winner, but then it came up trumps. £100. Maybe my luck is changing…

Architectural reminiscence

In 1978, I was able to visit the Goetheanum, situated in Switzerland, not very far from Basel.

While I was in the area (one week), I had a few interesting experiences, and saw a few things the average tourist does not. Perhaps I shall blog another time about those aspects of my visit. Today, just a few photographs and notes about the Goetheanum and surrounding buildings.

On a superficial look, extreme, but then look again at what is actually happening, not only in Greek (South) Cyprus but in Australia, France, Canada etc. An attempt by the State to deny the most basic services to those who refuse the vaccine(s). With Keir Starmer’s misnamed “Labour” Party, there is no real attempt to offer a better, or even different, society, just criticism of the “Conservative” part of the “two main parties” scam, while supporting 95% of what the Government is doing but “next time do it better, with more blacks and browns involved, and do it bending the knee to the blacks and wearing a facemask.” Utterly pathetic, but at some level deliberately co-ordinated.

I have not been closely following the trial, and do not know whether any independent witness actually heard Portman use the words which the complainant, Gideon Falter, said that he used, i.e. that Falter is “Jewish scum“. All I know of the matter is what I have read in newspapers.

Falter is the head of the “charity” (pressure group) known as “Campaign Against Antisemitism”, and has been since the establishment of that very small but well-funded organization in 2014. He apparently acquired a degree in, I think, Law and French, many years ago, and seems to have a great deal of money, his parents said to be residing in a house worth many millions in St. John’s Wood, London.

Prior to the founding of the “CAA”, Falter was a witness in a rather similar case, in 2009, in which Foreign Office man Rowan Laxton was said to have expostulated “fucking Jews!” etc while watching a TV news report about Israeli slaughter in Gaza.

While it was said that another witness also heard the above-quoted words, Falter alone testified that Laxton had also said that “If I had my way, the fucking international community should be sent in, and if the Israelis got in the way, they’d be blown off the fucking earth.” https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2009/sep/24/senior-diplomat-racial-harassment-case;

Laxton was convicted, but won his appeal after the Crown Court panel decided that Laxton “had not uttered” the words complained of. In other words, Falter’s evidence was not believed, for whatever reason. Interestingly enough, The Jewish Chronicle simply identified the prosecution witnesses as “two men“. Not reported on were their racial-ethnic origins, nor even their names.

In a sense, the Jew comedian, David Baddiel, is right, or partly right. Leaving aside the apparently vexed question of non-Jews who convert religiously to Judaism (something not considered possible by the more traditional sections of Judaic society), Jews are Jews both ethnically and religiously, but primarily ethnically (like Hindus).

Let no-one say that these events are just removal of unwanted old statues or some such. I was in Moscow in 1993 when not all of the old statues and memorials had been removed. I remember particularly the massive plinth in Novy Arbat street (formerly Prospekt Kalinina). Saturday quiz

Well, this week I scored only 4/10, though still beat political journalist John Rentoul, who only managed 2/10. I did not know the answers to questions 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 10. On question 7, I came very close (“but no cigar”); and on question 5, which I really knew in the back of my mind, could not quite bring it to consciousness, so 4/10 it is.

This is why Labour is so washed-up, because on the one hand you have the now-in-control pro-Jew-Zionist element under Starmer (“we agree with 90% of what the Government is doing but it should be doing it better, and while both wearing a facemask and bending the knee to the blacks”), and on the other the mass of politically-correct box-tickers such as tweeter “@socialist1959”, who are no doubt pro-migration-invasion, “anti-racist”, pro the “refugees welcome” nonsense etc.

Neither main wing of Labour has much of a mass appeal, even when set against the present shambolic government headed by a part-Jew, part-Levantine chancer.

Please, people, no more about how, thanks to the UK’s supposedly excellent FCO (diplomatic staff), SIS (para-diplomatic and intelligence staff), and armed forces, “Britain punches above its weight”. It does not.

Claims of that sort have now been floodlit as completely hollow.

Britain now has little more than mirages. In place of a properly functioning Foreign Office, a box-ticking, virtue-signalling and bureaucratic culture which accomplishes almost nothing. In place of a properly-functioning secret service, fantasies of one (whether the fantasies of supposed past —Second World War and Cold War— “successes”, or the outright fantasies peddled in James Bond films and the like). In place of a properly-functioning army, navy, and air force etc, we have stripped-down, stripped-out skeleton forces unable to do jack **** most of the time (as witness the Kabul situation).

Kabul

Kabul is a city which I have never visited, in a country which I have never visited. I have only met a relatively few people who have actually been there (whether before its post-1978 troubles, during the years of Soviet occupation, or more recently, during the past 20 years of Western control or partial control).

I do not claim to know a great deal about Kabul. Thank God for the Internet and for (whatever its flaws) Wikipedia.

For me, slightly unexpected. There again, msm focus has always been on a few locations; at present, the airport. Fact is, of course, that most of the nearly five million inhabitants are not at that airport but, probably, keeping their heads down and waiting to see what transpires.

The Japanese are said to have an answer as an alternative to “yes” and “no“: “mu“. This apparently means, “I do not agree with the assumption of your question“.

The bald question is too wide; all human lives, all animal lives. For me, some animal lives are worth more than some human lives.

That, though, is in no way the fault of Pen Farthing and his supporters; any fault lies with the British Government, and a UK bureaucracy incapable of doing its job properly.

Late thoughts about Pen Farthing and his critics

In my view, the supporters of Pen Farthing and the cats and dogs rescued are those who, in general, have their hearts in the right place. The critics and (if you like) “haters” of Pen Farthing seem to be mostly cruel, callous nobodies, often posing as great humanitarians (online Twitter-twit squad).

The other tweets of “@Jonny_Nowak33” show someone somewhere in the “Conservative”/Brexit Party ideological zone. A silly little person trying to be edgy.

I also saw tweets by some little wheelchair-bound autistic and mental afflict (whose name I cannot now find), one of which said simply, “Pen Farthing is a coward“. A man who served in the Royal Marines for decades, with final rank of sergeant. I do not claim that all Royal Marines are heroes, but I should doubt that many are cowards.

Twitter is now largely the comfort zone of the crazed, those with mental problems, and those without any real principles or ideology to speak of. Many are pathetic virtue-signallers, some are trying to make a impact on the other nuts who tweet.

Twitter is still of use as illustrative material (as used on my blog), but not as a serious ideas exchange. Also, the (often mentally-disturbed) “antifascist” idiots and/or Jew-Zionists have had most serious thinkers expelled from Twitter.

For me, from what I have read and seen in the past week (I had not known of him before that), Pen Farthing is someone who has been trying, against the odds, to help animals and people, and who has found himself up against large-scale situations, and large and uncaring organizations and agendas: US forces, a US government shamefully fleeing and leaving its allies in the lurch, Taliban barbarians, mass panic at a shambolic airport, a UK government trying to limit the domestic political fallout, and a UK mass media which both wants a story and is trying to give covering fire to a badly-prepared, chaotic UK government.

Maybe Pen Farthing did shout threats at a UK minister’s adviser. The bastard weasel probably deserved that, and maybe more.

The same goes for the UK governmental and diplomatic bureaucracy, which is near-useless. As for UK MPs and ministers, I doubt whether so many useless deadheads have ever been collected together at Westminster.

As I have mentioned before in the blog, those whom I knew in the mid/late 1970s and afterwards, and who used cannabis, all more or less dropped out of society, though most were sufficiently insulated by money not to fall to the bottom of society. They were mostly able to find a niche here or there, or marry into —at least some— money…

I myself was never a smoker of any kind of cigarettes, though I did enjoy Havana cigars when I had a girlfriend who used to bring me some quite often from various places, via duty-free shops. 1980s.
