Battles past

Saturday quiz

Well, this week brings another victory over political journalist John Rentoul, who scored 5/10, whereas I managed 8/10. I did not know the answer to question 2, and I could not think of the answer to question 3 even though I “really” knew it.

Look at the comments. The British people are getting angry that Britain has become the world’s dustbin.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12179613/Nadine-Dorries-resigns-hours-Boris-Johnson-force-election.html

If Nadine Dorries at least is not getting a peerage, that’s one slight mercy.

Still, other rubbish did get through. See https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/jun/09/dame-priti-and-sir-party-marty-the-aides-and-allies-in-boris-johnsons-honours-list.

The Jew Dan Rosenfield [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Rosenfield] is to be elevated to the Lords, as is West Indian charity embezzler and failed London Mayoralty (etc) candidate, Shaun Bailey [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaun_Bailey_(London_politician)#Career_before_politics].

Some woman called Charlotte Owen, apparently once “assistant” to Boris Johnson, is to be likewise elevated, at the early age of 29. Does that reward merit, or supine mediocrity (or worse)? I wonder.

I notice that Ben Houchen, once seen as a potential political star, has likewise been elevated. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Houchen. A consolation prize, I suppose, for losing out on a Parliamentary seat now that the fortunes of the Conservative Party are diving in the opinion polls. The same would have been true of Alok Sharma and, possibly, Nadine Dorries, had their peerages not been blocked. Sharma and Houchen would certainly not have been re-elected or elected, respectively.

One cannot expect loyalty or even basic decency from most people. When I was disbarred (wrongfully and actually unlawfully) in 2016, some 8 years after I had ceased Bar practice, and by reason of a malicious and contrived complaint by a pack of Jews, not one member of the Bar spoke up either to support me or to defend the principles of free speech and freedom of expression. The days of the free and fearless independent Bar of England have long gone. All that remains is a mass of craven careerists, fearful that “the authorities” (suborned by the Jew/Israel lobby) will look unfavourably upon them, and/or that Jewish solicitors will blackball them in terms of giving them work.

Good to see that the appeal fund for Sven Longshanks (James Allchurch) continues to grow, albeit slowly.

This war is testing the artefacts of 21stC warfare, and reshaping what warfare is. The use of drones is only one example.

The 1953 Coronation still had something somehow sacred about it, even if perhaps not 100% genuine. Compare that to the Coronation of the new Charles III. He looked uncertain, like someone —to use the current phrase— “cosplaying” the role; an actor in a poor production, an actor slightly miscast.

No clear alternative strategy“? That has been the leitmotif of “Conservative” governments for at least 8 years now, arguably longer, so why not of “Boris”-idiot and his cohorts not in government?

“Bob from Brockley”, meaning Jew-Zionist fanatic Ben Gidley, a lecturer at Birkbeck College, London. He used to troll me relentlessly (for about 7 years) on Twitter when I had a Twitter account; a pack of Jews (may or may not have included Gidley) had me expelled in 2018).

I worked out his identity not long before other, unconnected, people did, including the well-known journalist, Peter Hitchens (another “victim” of Gidley’s online trolling). Hitchens has mentioned Gidley several times in his Mail on Sunday column. Gidley has not had the gall to threaten Hitchens (or me) with any action in defamation…

Gidley has and has had a number of other Twitter accounts, some now eliminated or frozen by Twitter: “AntiNazisUnited” was one, “InTheSoupAgain” was another.

Like so many fanatical Jew-Zionists on Twitter, Gidley seems to spend much of his time “reporting” or denouncing non-Jews (almost exclusively) to anyone who might listen. Others (I do not know about Gidley) are not content with complaining pointlessly to Twitter, so also “report” to police, professional regulators, employers etc.

What often strikes me, looking at many of these types, is how limited their world is. Many of them tweet almost exclusively about supposed “antisemitism”. Few have anything to say about anything else (except how good, they think, Israel is). Very few have anything to say about ideas for the betterment of society. It’s all “antisemitism”, “Israel”, and “Nazis”. 78 years after the end of the Second World War. All seem to hate freedom of expression (for non-Jews).

I suspect (not sure) that one of Gidley’s more recent Twitter accounts is “@Lapsedmethodist”, which purports to be an Ireland-based Twitter account mostly interested in Israel/Palestine.

I had actually forgotten about Gidley’s existence until I saw the above exchange on Twitter, but there it is, still whining about “antisemitism”, and still opposing any justice for the Palestinian Arabs displaced (killed or “ethnically cleansed”) by Jews.

Stray thought

I just happened to see a tweet (leading to a website page) by the Crown Prosecution Service. All about an event at the building now housing the Supreme Court, in Parliament Square, London. The CPS official commenting, a Sikh, stated that “Diversity was fully embraced at this event“. Well, I looked at the several photographs of groups of people attending. Out of a couple of dozen attendees, there seemed to be only one white/English person. There’s “diversity” for you— the British/English relegated to mere “me too” add-ons.

That is our future unless we do something about it. I refer to the future of the people as a whole, not to myself personally. I am already 66, and I fear for the future of the British/English people as a whole, and for our society.

[Germany 1945— “We are fighting for the future of our children!”]

Incidentally, I know that Supreme Court building. When I was a youngish barrister in London, 30 years ago, that building was still designated as Middlesex Guildhall Crown Court (despite being in Parliament Square). At that time, there was no “Supreme Court” in the UK, and the highest court was still called the “House of Lords” (Judicial Committee).

I did my first actual Crown Court trial in that building, a “section 18” GBH with intent, and secured an acquittal, despite the defendant having poured boiling oil over his assailant and then stabbed him twice (you would need to know all the details to understand why the jury came to that —just— verdict). Happy times…

That stupid old woman thinks that she is terribly clever (her time in Government suggested the opposite: see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ann_Widdecombe).

Ann Widdecombe is in fact the sort of completely out of touch individual who should never be near political power or significant office. Look at her background.

She was a student until age 25-26, after which she had her only two ordinary jobs, both low-level “gopher” ones. Unilever got rid of her (I think that she was a clerk) after less than 2 years, then she ploughed on as an “administrator”, i.e. clerk, in an office of London University for 12 years.

Imagine Ann Widdecombe’s lack of (?) ambition/talent/knowledge/usefulness until she somehow got selected to be Conservative Party MP for Maidstone (a “safe seat”) in 1987.

Anne Widdecombe has never married, never had children, and seems to have lived with her parents until quite an advanced age (seems to have been in her thirties).

Not that I disagree with all of her views. I am broadly with her on animal rights, or animal welfare (pro), on abortion (anti), and on some other issues. It is just that people like her, who have never “walked in the moccasins” of others, cannot judge social issues fairly. As the film clip above shows.

The UK Parliament is packed with people who should not be there, and that has been the case for a long time, certainly since the 1980s.

Imagine…Ann Widdecombe talking about a cheese sandwich as though it is some kind of luxury item!

I might add that if governments keep failing to deliver to the people not even what they want, but what they need, MPs and others may be shocked one fine day to see what happens, including what happens to them. Be warned.

Again, Ann Widdecombe shows her complete separation from reality.

On Twitter today, the above socio-political discussion has caused a storm, but this goes beyond Ann Widdecombe (who ceased to be an MP many years ago). It is about all the other deluded people (of various types) in Parliament and also in the msm.

Look at the fantasy politics we have endured for well over a decade— “austerity” fantasy, whereby everything was cut back because of the nonsense idea that those on unemployment and disability benefits somehow caused the financial crash of 2007-2008; the “Covid” “panicdemic” or “scamdemic”, with its ludicrous “laws” and “rules” (the “social distancing”, the facemask nonsense, the quarantine nonsense, the “lockdown” nonsense etc, and of course the “test and trace” fiasco and fake “vaccines”)…

Now we have “Ukraine” (Kiev regime) policy, the idea that the UK must funnel unlimited money, arms, ammunition, medical supplies etc to Kiev, despite Ukraine having only been a state (a failed state) for 30 years or so, despite the UK having no historical tie with Ukraine, despite the UK having no treaty with Ukraine.

Oh, and of course any Ukrainian “refugees” (many are in fact not even Ukrainian in the first place— there are blacks and browns too) who land here (many of them being in fact relatively affluent) can get, immediately, all UK social security and medical benefits. Most are fake “refugees” too (having come from Kiev or the peaceful areas in the west of Ukraine), and quite a few actually despise us and our country, yet “our” Government throws money at them, while denying British children a cheese sandwich…

Meanwhile, in the UK, poor children cannot have even a cheese sandwich because (according to idiots like Ann Widdecombe) “there is no money“…

…and so, slowly, gradually, the states of Western Europe become more enmeshed in the Ukraine conflict. The situation needs only one or two events, perhaps not even thought-out events, and the Third World War will be triggered. Maybe not this month, maybe not this year, but sometime fairly soon. It is not inevitable, and can be prevented, but at present no-one, certainly no-one in the centres of power in the West, is even trying.

Seems that Ukrainians are lining up to join up. Oh, no, wait…

Very true, but Starmer-Labour would/will be very similar.

Again, very true, but the main drivers of censorship —and against freedom of expression— in the UK are the fanatical Jew-Zionists.

As for “Tories“, we can already see that the Israel-lobby puppets in the Labour Shadow Cabinet would be, if anything, even worse.

Again, all true, except that the upcoming local elections will change little or nothing in terms of actual improvements to anything.

I should like to see a reduction of about 4/5ths in the world population, leaving 1/5th, mostly northern European. Not because of “hate” toward the non-Europeans but because, firstly, the natural world is under unprecedented strain and, secondly, only a European population in Europe (particularly) and northern Eurasia can form the basis for a necessary quantum leap in human evolution.

Obscure hit noticed

Well, a first (I think) for the blog today. No less than 8 hits (possibly from only one person, though) from Tadzhikistan (my preferred spelling, btw), one of the wildest corners of the old Soviet “empire” [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tajikistan].

Those who know about such things tell me that the location of hits from overseas is unreliable, by reason of “proxy servers”, but I prefer just to believe that someone in Dushanbe or wherever, for whatever reason, has been reading my output.

I recall that, when I was on the committee of the Central Asia and Transcaucasia Law Association (CATLA) in the mid-1990s, someone had been reporting from Dushanbe (former Stalinabad, during the 1930s and 1940s) on the telephone, before gasping that she had to run “because a tank has just come around the corner“; there was a civil war going on at the time.

Au contraire!

I recall when I returned to the UK from the USA in the early 1990s and was trying to launch myself as a practising barrister out of rather rackety chambers in London. Through a series of odd events involving people from the former Yugoslavia, I had met a lady who lived in Hampstead Garden Suburb. Though not Jewish, she knew a number of wealthy Jews in Hampstead and elsewhere. She had been a high-flying model many years before, and had been on the cover of magazines such as Vogue. She had lived in Switzerland and in Montreal, and her style might be called “cosmopolitan wealthy”— a big Mercedes, furs, jewels etc.

We became involved, and she wanted to help me get work (legal cases) via wealthy solicitors that she knew. She told me post factum about one with whom she lunched, and to whom she had recommended my abilities. A Jew, his first question in reply had been to say, “is he Jewish?” Obviously, my girlfriend replied in the negative. Needless to say, no briefs came my way from that one.

Well, there it is.

Sad, and slightly infuriating, though tweeter “@JasonPedlow” is wrong in saying that the said pensioner could “obviously” get Personal Independence Payment [PIP]. In fact, the very opposite is true— he obviously could not, because he is, on the facts as given, a pensioner, and a claimant has to be under State Pension Age to apply for PIP: see https://www.gov.uk/pip/eligibility. He could, however, apply for Attendance Allowance, worth rather less than PIP but still worth having: see https://www.gov.uk/attendance-allowance/eligibility.

Said pensioner would also be entitled to Pension Guarantee Credit: see https://www.gov.uk/pension-credit/eligibility. That would also confer, in principle, further benefits: maybe housing benefit, if he rents where he lives; also various one-off government payments.

Having said all that, it sounds like the said pensioner is a bit of a dimwit, worrying about what non-existent or unimportant people might think about him collecting various benefits, or worrying about some absurd “principle” invented in his own head. At a time when the Government has thrown away billions, hundreds of billions, on the “panicdemic”, on “Ukraine” (the Zelensky regime), on the importation of millions of blacks and browns and others etc.

Some people actually wilfully deprive themselves, and often pointlessly.

Yes. The poorer Ukrainians are stuck, either in the war zone or in the collapsed society and economy brought about by the Zelensky regime.

Most of those in the UK now are just ripping off whatever they can.

In fact, tweeter “Spriter” has got it wrong this time.

In international law, the once-accepted theory of “extraterritoriality”, i.e. that the territory of an embassy consists of the territory of the sending state (the state to which that embassy belongs) has not been accepted for many decades. The currently-accepted theory is that an embassy (building with grounds) is on the territory of the accepting state, but that privileges and immunities attach to both the embassy site and (in varying degrees) to its diplomatic, administrative, and technical/logistical staff.

From the newspapers

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-11753337/What-nuclear-winter-really-like-scientists-call-urgent-public-education.html.

A decade of darkness, below-freezing temperatures and starvation for BILLIONS: The potential horrors of what a nuclear winter would really be like – as scientists call for ‘urgent’ public education.

While it sounds very much like a fictional scenario, an expert describes a nuclear winter as a real and ‘horribly contemporary’ risk due to Russia‘s war on Ukraine.

The research also gauged support in the UK and US for western retaliation in the event of a nuclear blast, which could be the difference between a one-off nuclear attack and an ongoing series of attacks resulting in nuclear winter.

Ingram found there was ‘a strong reluctance’ to support nuclear retaliation in response to [a] fictional Russian nuclear attack on Ukraine.

Out of all 3,000 people in the US and UK, fewer than one in five people – 19.4 per cent – surveyed supported retaliation.

Next, half of the participants in each country were shown infographics of nuclear winter before they read fictional news of nuclear strikes, while the other half were not (the control group).

Unsurprisingly, the stark infographics had the effect of putting people off retaliation.

Support for nuclear retaliation was lower by 16 per cent in the US and 13 per cent in the UK among participants shown the ‘nuclear winter’ infographics than among the control group.

‘Our research showed that when the public is aware of the global risks they are less likely to support nuclear retaliation,’ Ingram told MailOnline.

…and for what?

So that a fake and failed “state” called Ukraine, that did not even exist as a state at any point before 1991, and which is basically a Jew-ruled kleptocracy and dictatorship, completely shambolic, can continue to fight a war which, if push comes to shove, it cannot win.

This is not our (UK’s, USA’s, France’s, Germany’s) war. Time to stop supplying money and weapons to the Kiev regime.

A whole generation, across Europe and North America, is growing up seeing ads mostly containing ugly fat black women, mixed-race couples and families, “trans” persons, every kind of ****-up etc. Who is behind it all? The (((you-know-who))), as usual.

Ha. Reminds me of when I was a superannuated Bar pupil in 1992, and we had a defendant, a big black man with an odd short haircut. He was a TV licence enforcement “officer”, and was accused at Wood Green Crown Court of blackmail and extortion, and a few other things (he was acquitted on all charges, in the end).

That case stuck with me (I was little more than a spectator) because the Indian Muslim solicitor said, angrily, after an altercation with his client, “why should I take that from a nigger with a horn in his head?” (!) and also because my pupilmaster (barrister notionally supervising me as pupil) had to make formal complaint to the judge that the alleged victim in the case had hired a number of black magic African women to intimidate the defendant (they were huge and evil-looking, and hung around the public waiting area, staring fixedly at the defendant when he was there; after the complaint, they were told by the court staff to get lost, in effect).

Those one-trick ponies, the Harry Formerly Known as Prince, and his consort, Meghan Mulatta, have all but used up their ammunition. Like defectors from the old Soviet Union, they gave what were supposedly sensational titbits at first, but then descended to less interesting material (in their case into more petty whining). To employ another metaphor, the first cold pressing of the olive produces the best oil; after that, the product is of lower quality, and watered-down.

Ha ha! That put the useless Nigerian online “grifter” in his place. I might not think much of Lee Anderson or his views, but his enemies are even less to my taste.

“Femi” is just another symptom of how sick British society now is. I wonder how long it will be before he tries to become a Labour MP? In fact, I wonder how long it will be before the Commons becomes majority non-white. Then it will be time for a second Guy Fawkes to make his appearance.

I had quite forgotten that one-time rock “music” groupie, pitifully poor MP-for-5-minutes, and hard-core drug abuser, Louise Mensch, even existed, but there she still sits on Twitter, with her 269,000 “followers”, still trumpeting the same kind of Jewish/Israel/NWO propaganda as she has for a decade or more. She herself admitted that her hard drug abuse “messed with her brain“. Her exact words were “My mind is messed up after taking hard drugs.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louise_Mensch.

Follower numbers on Twitter mean little, of course. Louise Mensch may have 269,000 Twitter “followers” (on paper), but that tweet I featured above, for example, tweeted more than a day ago, has only been seen by 304 people (as at present time of writing), only been “liked” by 14 people, and only been retweeted by 1 person. Not one hundred thousand, not one thousand, but just one individual.

[Louise Mensch smoking drugs years ago]

Actually, looking even at the most-seen tweets of Louise Mensch, which have been seen by several thousand people (because she tends to tag in well-known or famous people such as Elon Musk, Biden etc), the number of “likes” and retweets is small, often a mere handful.

Even her Jew husband got rid of her in the end. I have no idea how much it cost him in alimony but whatever it was, I have no doubt that it was cheap at the price.

Something I had not seen before today. Rather underwhelming. Above all, the activities of our intelligence, counter-intelligence, and security people rather miss the main point— the principal dangers to the UK come not from North Korean missiles, Chinese or Russian spies etc, but from internal decadence and events. Mass immigration. Births to non-whites with UK residency and/or nationality. The infiltration into politics, law, the msm and, indeed, security and intelligence agencies by Jews and/or Israeli agents. The decadence promoted by TV and other msm, particularly the BBC. The general decadence of British society.

Indeed, it could well be said that the UK is now little more than a colony of the USA anyway— the one-sided extradition treaty, the American bases on UK soil (often nominally “RAF bases”), the huge influence of American-funded (and often staffed) “think-tanks” such as the IEA, the de facto US control or power of veto of the UK “independent” nuclear deterrent, and so on.

Well, I have rarely been accused of being a “libertarian”, but I agree wholeheartedly with all of those demands!

Amazing story.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11638389/Half-universities-peddle-woke-agenda-students.html.

UK universities need a chistka (purge).

https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/shepherds-bush-pub-assault-james-stephenson-leg-broken-b1052834.html

Another example of how public services in the UK just do not work any more. The victim of a bad assault, a woman, had to lie under blankets outside a pub for 2 hours, waiting for an ambulance that never turned up. Eventually, she had to take an Uber minicab to hospital.

Adding insult to injury, the police, until pressed, did not bother to gather easily-available cctv evidence.

Finally, the defendant (finally caught after the police had been pressured to actually do their job) was let off with a suspended sentence (albeit with a stiff financial penalty by way of compensation for the victim).

There was reasonable mitigation, yes, but the crime was both violent and unpleasant in itself and, also, the victim was left with continuing —and quite possibly permanent— disabilities and pain caused directly or proximately by the actions of the defendant.

If this continues, UK society will become a jungle.

Jack Monroe

Those who follow the “Jack Monroe” saga have noticed that she never, or at least rarely, admits to having bought expensive items for herself out of the monies she has available to her from several sources; she always either “finds” them, remarkably, or buys them for a song (for a tenth or less of the normal price), or is “given” them by friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, or strangers, or has acquired them via “exchange” for unspecified “services“.

As for her having been “in full time work for the best part of 2 decades“, that seems unlikely, but is a question of definition.

“Two decades” brings us back to early 2003. At that time, “Jack Monroe was 14 years old. She left school at 16 (~2005), working in a chip shop and a Starbucks before joining the fire brigade in Essex in 2007 as a call handler. She left in 2011, and was thereafter, for ~18 months, “on the dole”.

“Jack Monroe” worked for her local newspaper in 2012-2013, and also blogged, after which she got a book deal worth, I read, £25,000, with Penguin: see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Monroe.

So there we have 7-8 years of intermittent paid work, not quite the 10+ years she claims.

Since 2013, “Jack Monroe” has been (it seems) mostly or completely self-employed, as scribbler, blogger, TV talking head etc. To what extent that counts as “full-time work” is an open question; if yes, then the total is about 17 years; if not, about 7 or so, as said.

As previously noted, Jack Monroe both claims poverty, and so asks for the public to send her money, but also says sometimes that she was in poverty (while on State benefits for 1-2 years), but not now.

Since about 2013, “Jack Monroe” has been in receipt of monies from a number of sources: TV and radio appearances, Press interviews, about £100,000 royalties from her several books (most still in print, I think), deals with ASDA and other supermarkets, and substantial donations (eg from 634 —at time of writing— very misguided people sending her £3.50-£44 each, monthly, via Patreon),

It is claimed by some on Twitter that “Jack Monroe” is “downsizing” (as she puts it) not because she cannot afford the c.£4,000 a month rent and other expenses of her present home but because she is buying a new but possibly smaller home; some say paying the full price in cash. I have no idea whether that be so.

At what point do the 634 mugs still subsidizing her via Patreon start to think why they are still funnelling cash to this very unreliable “grifter” and fantasist, who has recently been in the Guardian laughing about how, when drunk or drugged, she would buy four large pieces of furniture in a few days “for a laugh” or some such.

Is all that is required, for “Jack Monroe” to receive donations from naive mugs, for her to snarl occasionally on Twitter about “cost of living” or “wicked Tories“? Even if they are (and no argument from me on that), how does that either seriously oppose “Conservative” policies or “help the poor“?

“Jack Monroe” has claimed to have been working on a measure of how “the poor” are disproportionately affected by inflation, something she calls (from one of the Discworld books of Terry Pratchett) the “Vimes Boots Index“, but it seems that that might be just another fantasy; in short, another lie.

An ethnic minority carpetbagger in Government will be protected, as far as possible. Others, English, less connected, poorer, would face sterner measures. I recall a colleague at the Bar, in 2007, telling me about a Devonian fishing captain that he had defended, and who (along with his few crew) had decided to evade tax on profits of fish caught. The man was apparently a heroin addict. They all pleaded guilty, the crew got off with suspended sentences, but the captain received a sentence of, if I recall aright, two years’ imprisonment. The amount was tens of thousands (perhaps about £20,000), not the millions of the Zahawi case.

[Grenzpolizei DDR (East German border guards). Maybe we in the UK need something similar in order to stem the migration-invasion]

It often seems that the UK now has effectively no border security. Untermenschen from various countries invade our territory without difficulty, and when “intercepted” (ferried to the UK, or met at the beach), taken to a 3* or 4* hotel, thenceforth battening off the British people for the rest of their lives.

The very best that can be expected of 99% of the migrant-invaders is that they will be totally useless; more likely, most of them are criminal and even murderous.

On this day a year ago

Temps perdu

Some years ago, I noted on the blog that my old head of chambers, one M.B., a pretty good civil barrister, had been appointed to the office of Circuit Judge. Now I see that no fewer than three other fellow-members of the same chambers (now and for some time joined with another set under a new name) have also received judicial preferment.

The first, one “R.P.”, was, as I recall him from over 15 years ago, a small and rather dapper man, maybe about 40 at that time, unfailingly polite, who had been a magistrates’ court clerk for many years, and had written a very well-received book on sentencing, as well as (and I only saw that today) several other books on law and procedure. Someone both erudite and modest, a good combination.

I see just now (thanks to the Internet) that R.P. is 56-57.

R.P., a man so modest and self-effacing that I know nothing about him on the personal level, despite having been in the same chambers as him for at least a couple of years (I was there 2002-2008, he for not so long), was (if I recall aright) nominally a “pupil” at first, having been previously a solicitor (again, if I recall correctly); as said, he had spent years as a magistrates’ clerk.

R. P. is therefore now “His Honour Judge R.P.” and has been, as they say, “deployed” to the North East as a Circuit Judge. In the old days, pre-1970s, people would practice almost entirely on one circuit, such as Western Circuit, Midland and Oxford etc, and if granted judicial preferment, would be appointed, almost always, on that Circuit. Now, however, they can be sent anywhere within England and Wales.

The other two appointments seen by me were those affecting two people who were, like R.P., both pupils of M.B. twenty-odd years ago. When I knew them, they were both in their early twenties, so must be about 45 now. Let us call them, in the manner of M.R. James, “JB” and “AW”.

J.B, a pleasant-enough fellow, and rather likeable, albeit no intellectual (if I recall aright), and who came from an affluent family (his father is or was a businessman involved in trade with China), has been appointed both as an employment judge (i.e. at the Employment Tribunal) and also as a Deputy District Judge (which is same level, really, as a full District Judge, but only sitting for 15-50 days per year).

As for A.W., I recall him as a serious and bearded young man, bordering however on the humourless (admittedly, I only spoke with him a few times); intelligent, and who, with his wife (whom I never met), actually played music live at least once on either BBC Radio 3 or BBC Radio 4 at that time, i.e. about 16-17 years ago.

A.W. is apparently appointed District Judge as of early January 2023, and has been deployed to Worthing in West Sussex.

Such appointments as District Judge etc may seem minor (there are c.400 full District Judges in England and Wales) but actually such jobs are not badly-paid— about £114,000 p.a. at time of writing (Circuit Judges get more, about £145,000).

I can see why barristers often apply for such jobs. They carry none of the uncertainty which can be part and parcel of being a barrister, such as where the next brief will come from; also (for barristers of a certain age) there is the attraction of a generous pension scheme, something unknown to the Bar (unless you pay out for a private one). Also, the judge (at any level) does not have the need to travel much, if at all, whereas a barrister in a provincial set can travel extensively.

When I myself was in London as a practising barrister (early/mid 1990s), almost all my cases were within London itself (often at the High Court, a shortish No. 6 bus, or a taxi, ride from my then home in Little Venice); but when I was based in Exeter in 2002-2008 (and living 50 miles west of there, on the Cornwall-Devon border), I sometimes had to travel as far north as Manchester, and as far east as London, Cambridge, Brighton etc. 600-mile roundtrips. I even made the odd overseas journey, though admittedly that also happened when I lived in London.

Always interesting to see what is happening over time to those whom I knew in the past.

Finally, I should add that I have no idea whether those I used to know, and who have been appointed to the judiciary, are freemasons. Possibly. Not impossible, anyway, thinking back to when I knew them, and thinking about what I do know of them.

…and in Oxford Street, London, Jews danced in a circle, guarded by police and “CST” “minders”. An expression of Jew-Zionist supremacism.

Why did no-one shoot him, or just run over the bastard in a car? We always hear so-called “Christians” droning about “turning the other cheek” but what about “Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you” [Matthew 7-6]?

Covid “panicdemic”

Well, there it is. Proof that hugely loss-making Twitter was both (as I speculated years ago on the blog) acting as an intelligence-collecting system for NWO/ZOG, and also proof that —time and again— the overall public debate or discussion in the “online forum” or “online public space” is —and in the case of Twitter, especially, was— being twisted by Twitter staff (etc); also offline (by the usual msm suspects). The “online public space“, as I termed it on the blog, as well as in my 2017 talk offline, at the now-defunct London Forum— with others later imitating my language and reasoning.

What at first surprised me slightly, years ago, was that I could see that the usual crowd of “human rights” lawyers, bien-pensants, “liberal” msm types, anti-censorship loudmouths, pseudo-socialists etc (many, but by no means all, Jews) were in fact perfectly OK with a secretive transnational finance-capital offshoot such as Twitter censoring dissenting views, and/or “deplatforming” dissidents and/or persons labelled “neo-Nazi” etc.

The mask of Evil has slipped a little as regards Twitter, but remains firmly in place in respect of other online and offline platforms.

This is not just about the Covid “panicdemic”. It applies also to other matters, especially the constant Coudenhove-Kalergi propaganda being blasted out across the TV, radio, newspapers etc.

I happened to see a copy of Vogue magazine the other day, not my usual reading material. Flicking through it for a few seconds, I noticed that almost every photo and report was basically about blacks, and pushing blacks forward, to an almost unbelievable extent. No one is going to tell me that that is simply about making money for the publishers. There is something more behind it all. See also: https://ianrobertmillard.org/2018/12/10/tv-ads-and-soaps-are-the-propaganda-preferred-by-the-system-in-the-uk/.

Returning to “Covid”, I see that the Chinese Government has now turned its massive state repression machinery into reverse, and almost overnight dismantled the “Covid” police state measures. According to Sky News in the UK, that has meant an increase in “cases” (whether labelled “influenza” or “Covid”-this-or-that. Of course.

The stupid “lockdowns” isolate people. When they have to be released (because to shut down society and economy indefinitely is unsustainable, impossible) naturally their immune systems have been weakened. “Lockdowns” were always the wrong policy, not only from the economic point of view (look at the UK, for example) but from the strict health point of view as well.

While on the subject of Twitter, I see that it continues to omit the (only-recently-dropped) “Latest” tweets column on any given subject or subject-name searched for. This really weakens the usefulness of Twitter.

I have blogged in the past week about the poor standard on Christmas University Challenge, and again below.

That sign was still the ethos at Blackwell’s in the 1970s, when I asked for a copy of the Malleus Maleficarum, sat at a table reading it for a long time, then left without buying it, and still got a cheery goodbye from the staff.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malleus_Maleficarum

Christmas University Challenge

Again, two dispiriting performances from the alumni teams (Cardiff v. Bristol), who displayed the ignorance which has been the hallmark of the series both last year and this year, and which by now I actually expect.

One who at least attempted to answer, though usually wrongly, was Dominic Waghorn of the Bristol alumni team, of whom I see that Wikipedia says this:

Dominic David Waghorn (born 1968, Lambeth),[1] is a British journalist who is the Diplomatic Editor of Sky News and presenter of the channel’s weekly international affairs analysis programme World View. He was before that US Correspondent of Sky News, the 24-hour television news service operated by Sky Television, part of British Sky Broadcasting. He is based at Sky News’ Washington Bureau. He was formerly Sky News’ Asia Correspondent, based in Beijing and Middle East Correspondent, based in Jerusalem. He became Sky News’ US Correspondent in 2011.”

[Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominic_Waghorn]

That reads well, on paper, but that supposed “expert” not only failed to identify Volgograd as the “new” (since 1961) name for the city of Stalingrad, even after prompting from Jeremy Paxman, but then compounded his error by venturing “Voronezh?“, a city about 360 miles away, and in a different part of Russia.

There were several other errors by Waghorn and worse ones by others (those who actually tried to answer any questions at all).

The problem I have with these well-known and/or “celebrity” contestants is not only that their general-knowledge levels are, indeed, generally abysmal, but also a. that they are all people paid plenty of money by society as a whole, partly by reason of their supposedly “elite” education, and b. that those working in msm current affairs are delivering misinformation to the public on subjects such as Ukraine, European politics, and the “Covid” “panicdemic”.

Tweets seen about the show:

Good point (especially as I practically never get a popular music question right…).

Ha ha! That must be intended as good-humoured satire, surely? (from one of the subject’s colleagues on Sky News). Waghorn even failed to get right a fairly easy question about which seas were mentioned in Churchill’s famous post-WW2 speech at Fulton, Missouri, which brought the term “iron curtain” into popular speech (though Churchill had lifted the term from Schwerin von Krosigk, unless it was a simple co-incidence).

The seas in the question were Baltic and Adriatic, not (as Waghorn said) the Adriatic Sea and Black Sea. The other team also got that one wrong, incidentally, citing Baltic and Atlantic.

To be fair on him, Waghorn did get a few other questions right.

In case readers missed my late comment yesterday re. the “missile hits Poland” report:

Either this incident was accidental, or the explosions are a false flag by the Zelensky regime, created to drag NATO into war with Russia. Either way, it was plainly not a deliberate attack on Poland, and thus should not trigger Article 5 of the NATO treaty.

In any case, now that states such as Poland, the Baltic states etc belong to NATO (which should never have happened), Article 5 should be abrogated. It is now nothing less than a dangerous trigger mechanism which may put all of Europe (and quite possible both the USA and Russia as well) to sword and flame.

This situation has been caused, at root, by the reckless NATO support for the Kiev regime. This is not our fight, and never has been.

Latest news:

Reuters is reporting that a Nato source has informed the new agency that US president Joe Biden has informed the alliance that the missile that fell into Poland, killing two people, was a Ukrainian air defence missile.”

[Guardian]

Russia defence ministry: missile claims ‘deliberate provocation’, wreckage ‘identified’ as Ukrainian S-300

The Russian defence ministry is issuing a robust statement denying involvement in the explosion in Poland.

Reuters has snapped the following key lines:

  • Russia says it carried out a massive attack on military targets and energy infrastructure in Ukraine on Tuesday.
  • The strike achieved its goals.
  • High-precision strikes were carried out only on Ukrainian territory and no closer than 35km (22 miles) from the Ukrainian-Polish border.
  • Allegations of Russian missiles falling in the Polish village are a deliberate provocation to escalate the situation.
  • Photos of the wreckage found in Poland are identified as elements of the Ukrainian S-300

[Guardian]

As I commented late yesterday, quite likely a “false flag” operation by the Kiev regime of the Jew Zelensky. The Kiev regime is desperate to get NATO directly into the war on the Kiev side, or to get Russia attacked by NATO.

There should be official and/or police investigations into the whole “Jack Monroe”/”Bootstrap Cook” situation.

That Bernal idiot, who (incredibly) lectures in law in East Anglia, is also one of the unthinking “you can have free speech but not freedom from the consequences” brigade, which mantra would effectively designate Stalin’s Soviet Union or Mao’s China as places where free speech existed.

Very little, if anything, written by Bernal on Twitter can be taken seriously, in my opinion.

More Jewish fraud. When will people wake up? Having said that, look at infamous Lastminute.com. One of the “entrepreneurs” involved was not Jewish (Martha Lane Fox) and she made millions out of naive small investors. Not only not punished, but made a member of the House of Lords, and appointed to numerous public bodies. She is presently also Chancellor of the Open University.

As of today, 666 (ha ha) “patrons” (regular donors or, as I prefer, “mugs”) supplying “Jack Monroe” with up to £10 each and every month via the Patreon website. Up to £6,660 per month (minus any Patreon fees), and probably taxfree. In cash. Every month. Plus book royalties, appearance fees, off-the-cuff donations, other sources of income (eg Child Benefit, Child Tax Credit etc).

I have yet to see a tweet from even one genuinely “poor” person who thinks that Jack Monroe —“Bootstrap Cook”— has helped his or her existence. All tweets supporting her come from fairly affluent journalists, msm people, some lesbians and/or persons of the LBGTQXYZ brigade, fake “doctors” operating psychotherapy scams, retired people living in rural or semi-rural comfort, and/or readers of the Observer and Guardian. I suspect that some supportive tweets are in fact from “Bootstrap Cook” herself, using aliases, though I cannot prove as much.

Elixir of youth?

Strange. I happened to see the chambers bio of someone who was at the “Bar school” (the Inns of Court School of Law) at the same time as me (1987-88), and in the same little practice group of about half a dozen or so people; all our surnames began with “M”.

I was told at the time (and in confidence) that this particular person was a great deal older than he looked, was (if memory serves) about 45, and had been a commended officer of the Flying Squad, who had arrested a shotgun-carrying robber in a bank branch. He looked to me somewhere between 28 and mid-thirties, no older.

I was told that said person (whose name it is unnecessary to mention) did not want it to be generally known that he had been in the police, because there was at the time rather a prejudice at the Bar against policemen becoming barristers. Perhaps. That is what I was told, anyway.

I noticed that the said student was good at listening rather than talking, for example when in a pub after our “practical exercises” (in those days, Bar students used the courtrooms of the Royal Courts of Justice after hours in order to playact being “Counsel”, supervised by a real barrister acting as “judge”).

The person in question blended in easily. I would never have thought that he had been in the police, had I not been told.

As mentioned, I was told that the said person was about 45 (I think that it was either 45 or 46). Now this was in 1987, maybe 1988. I see now that, after what I understand to have been a pretty successful career at the criminal Bar (though he has not taken silk), he is still practising and, as far as I can judge from his (presumably not too old) photograph, looks no more than 50, if that!

Various idle thoughts intrude: does he have a ghastly portrait of himself hidden away somewhere, as in The Picture of Dorian Gray? Has he found the fountain of youth, or the elixir of youth? If what I was told back in 1987-88 was true, he must be 80-81 years old!

I can only conclude that I may have been told a load of rubbish, yet even if one knocks off a decade from the age as related to me in 1987 or 1988, he must be ~70. Puzzling.

Incidentally, I do not think that I am breaking the confidence entrusted to me about 35 years ago. Apart from the time that has elapsed, I have kept the “secret” since 1988 and even now have not identified the barrister concerned. In any case, whatever the sensibilities of the Bar re. police becoming barristers may have been, 35 years ago, the pre-legal career of that individual must surely be taken to have been creditable, if anything.

The missiles seem mainly to be targeting critical infrastructure such as electrical power plants. If this offensive is “terroristic”, then what were the massive American bombing and missile attacks on Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Serbia etc, not to mention, further back, Vietnam, North Korea, Germany etc?

There you have it: Jews and part-Jews ruling over a mass of cultureless and raceless economic serfs— the Coudenhove-Kalergi Plan.

Quite.

Just imagine that. Millions of idiots, including politicians, journalists etc, were quite ready to endorse the incineration of Europe, North America, and much of Russia, all because a couple of stray Poles (unfortunate or unlucky, so be it) were killed by a missile that now turns out not to have been Russian at all, but from the Kiev regime.

The GRU or SVR should have eliminated Zelensky before any trucks or tanks started to roll in February 2022.

Saturday quiz

Well, this week a fairly easy win over political journalist John Rentoul. He scored, as he puts it, “two and a half” out of 10 (2/10); I trumped that with 5/10.

I did not know the answers to questions 3, 5, 7, and 9, and I award myself also null points for question 1 (I knew that it was a rodent, but could not think of the name; looking at his tweets, seems that John Rentoul was in the same position but awarded himself half a point anyway).

Jack Monroe, the “Bootstrap Cook”

Many have now read my assessment of “Jack Monroe”, aka the “Bootstrap Cook”. See https://ianrobertmillard.org/2022/09/30/diary-blog-30-september-2022-including-an-assessment-of-jack-monroe-aka-the-bootstrap-cook/, and the very critical profiles penned by others (see my assessment and other recent blog posts for details).

Part of the criticism is that the “Bootstrap Cook” takes monies on the Patreon website while not fulfilling her promises to supply various goods and services to the donors. She is said to make between £2,500 and £6,650 a month in cash (minus website fees) from regular Patreon donations (from 665 regular donors as of today).

That is in addition to a number of other income streams, such as book royalties, paid appearances etc. I presume child benefit/support as well.

The “Bootstrap Cook” is also said to have crowdfunded for monies with which to sue Lee Anderson MP and political commentator Martin Daubney in defamation, (and to have kept and/or spent those monies on herself or her lifestyle). Certainly no libel action has been launched as yet (6 months after threatening tweets by her to that effect).

I happened to see news of the current legal process and expected trial of a black woman “activist” in Bristol, which I shall not comment on substantively at this time: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11417065/BLM-organiser-helped-run-demo-toppled-Edward-Colstons-statue-charged-fraud.html.

I presume that, if the matter proceeds beyond the first “mags” appearance in January 2023, that it will go to the Crown Court.

Worth reading…

Not sure that I would call someone whose income is £125,000 per year pre-tax, “wealthy“. “Affluent“, maybe. “Much better off than me” certainly, especially after my past decade of “hard-up-ness” and struggle. However, I am not at all sympathetic to people on such a comfortable level of income, looking at the poverty and near-poverty around.

The Conservative Party and Government is useless on the cross-Channel migration-invasion question, but this is mad: how can it be a “solution” to immigration, including the Channel invasion, simply to let almost all of the blacks and browns in “legally”?! That is not a “solution” but another word beginning with “s”— surrender.

I suppose that what the decadent, declining British people (voters) want is not to have to read about the invasion, or see it on TV news.

So long as it takes place fairly quietly, with British towns and cities relatively slowly changing their character with the expanding population of non-whites, many decadent British bien-pensant types will applaud it, and even the less-invested people might accept it, then return to their TV sets, on which they can watch “British” non-white sports teams, watch TV ads where a white family is a rarity in dramas and ads, and so on.

In fact, this is all part of the Coudenhove-Kalergi Plan, the “great replacement” of whites by non-whites throughout Europe. A giant conspiracy by transnational exploiters and evil-doers.

From the simple UK political point of view though, it is clear that the Conservative Party is toast now, and no amount of “spin” from Indian supposed “clever boy” and money-juggler, Sunak, will save it.

What is the agenda behind the agenda?

[Bohemian Grove ritual, Northern California]

Thank you, General.

Idiots like that Question Time woman are everywhere on TV etc (less so in real life, though still often found), and are the very gravediggers of our country, and of our whole culture and civilization.

Most “Covid” “cases” are little different than cases of mild colds or influenza anyway. The whole “panicdemic” hysteria was and (to the extent that it still exists) is mad, like one of the Alice in Wonderland situations.

There is a conspiracy of silence in the mass media about this.

Just one example of the crazed “woke” nonsense that has taken over police forces, local authorities, charities etc across the country.

Not that I in any way “supported” the odd little East German state, the DDR, at the time when I saw it (for a couple of days only) in 1988. It had its points (like Cuba) but (also like Cuba) not many…

I recall being driven across the East-West German frontier, in the very south of the DDR, on a sunny afternoon in 1988. A little-used crossing-point.

Border guards, some with automatic weapons. A careful document-check.

The car was almost dismantled, the seats taken out, other areas examined minutely, and a little wheeled mirror used to look under the vehicle (as they used to do at checkpoints in Northern Ireland in the 1970s). Then the seats etc were expertly put back and screwed down, all items previously removed put back into the car, and off we drove. I think that it took an hour or so.

There was not even one other car crossing. There was then a kind of no-man’s land (I think still officially DDR territory), complete with (on both sides) strips of raked sand, high razor wire and, in the middle distance, a huge concrete watch-tower akin to a water-tower or airfield control-tower, from which we were no doubt being scrutinized through powerful binoculars or telescopes. Three barriers in all, I think. Then just open country for a little while.

The West German side was less formal, one man in a little sentry box.

I read that, now that the border is no more, that once-mined and guarded strip is an important conservation zone for animals and birds, a kind of nature reserve. Funny how things change.

A report about a spy case involving the British Embassy in Berlin.

According to the journalist who wrote that report, one Emily Pennink [https://uk.linkedin.com/in/emily-pennink-33aa6527],

After the Cold War officially ended in 1991, hopes of a warmer co-existence with Russia were gradually snuffed out, culminating in the invasion of Ukraine this year – the first war in Europe since the Second World War.”]

[Evening Standard].

What?! “...the first war in Europe since the Second World War“? What was the Yugoslavian conflict of the 1990s, then? A little localized disagreement? What about the bloody American bombings of Serbia? What were they? Not a war? Just a “police action“, as the Russians now say of Ukraine?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yugoslav_Wars; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO_bombing_of_Yugoslavia; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO_bombing_of_Yugoslavia#Aftermath.

Just as MPs are now generally of very poor quality, so are many who scribble in the newspapers. I should not like to be accused of “bias” by pointing out that many such persons are called Justin, Toby, Allegra or, indeed, Emily, but the fact remains, leaving aside their often-twee names, that many are rather ignorant and also, not infrequently, only semi-literate, despite all having gone to some university or other, and/or having diplomas in journalism.

That journalist might like to note that the coldness that has developed between Russia and the West in the past 20 years has been created, mainly, by both NATO expansionism and, also, the sheer exploitation of Russia by Western interests (and/or Jews) during the 1990s Yeltsin period— and since then as well.

Incidentally, that journalist, Emily Pennink, is no recent graduate, or trainee; she has been a journalist for some 21 years.

I had better not be too rude about her Evening Standard report— she is a black belt —3rd Dan— in karate!

Ah…just looked at her Twitter output: retweeting such as the malicious Jewish “Hope not Hate” snoop organization…

So “Jack Monroe” claims that she turned up at the Grenfell Fire scene, and then was simply “waved through the police cordon” by a policeman?! That has to be not only untrue but absolutely absurdly so. Did she show her long-expired ID showing her to have been someone who once answered the telephone at some Essex fire station? As an assertion, that is not even slightly plausible.

Yet the “Bootstrap Cook” has her (usually unthinking) supporters, such as one “Jaimi Shrive”, who admits that she knows basically nothing about “Jack Monroe”/”Bootstrap Cook”, yet is willing to insult those public-spirited people such as “@AwfullyMolly”, who have exposed the apparent fakery and, frankly, “grifting” and near-fraud around the subject and by the subject:

The above individual admits that she really knows nothing about the subject in hand, but (perhaps typically of such people) that will not prevent her from having a firm opinion about it!

You would think that someone purporting to hold a quasi-professional position (looking at the Twitter profile) would not make herself look so silly, but there it is…

Just looking at her other tweets: they are silly, pointless. Not worth looking at again.

Many of the hard-core Jack Monroe zealots seem to be of the LGBTQXYZ coterie. As I said in my assessment published 6 weeks ago, few if any are “poor” or “struggling”. It’s a kind of cult.

The UK is full of these pseudo-professional people and organizations, some of which are outright frauds. In the case of “Jaimi Shrive”, who may or may not actually exist as a real person, her illiterate, stupid and pointless tweets destroy any attempt at credibility].

I might not agree with everything said or done by Jamie Oliver, but I think that he means well most of the time, and he is at least a genuine chef, not someone who calls “themselves” “chef” or at least “cook“, but whose idea of edible food is a few tins of fish, beans, and fruit mixed together, or some other dog’s dinner of a “Mahashma Gandhi”.

I have to admit that I am at least tending to that view myself now.

I have to say that, apart from the thing itself, what I find disturbing is that supposedly “serious” newspapers such as the Guardian and Observer, and numerous journalists from other newspapers, TV etc, have not bothered to seek out the truth, but just accepted the contrived “legend” as genuine, on the nod. The same is true of a few MPs, such as Debbie Abrahams [Lab. Oldham East and Saddleworth https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Debbie_Abrahams]

I have been blogging for years about how the UK should get closer to Russia, which would result in this country and its people getting oil and especially gas at near cost-price; instead of which this inept government of clowns has not only not done that, but has insisted on poking Russia with a sharp stick, first of all by applying sanctions which hurt the UK far more than Russia, and secondly by supplying arms and money to the dictatorial and illegitimate Zelensky regime in Kiev.

Part-Jew: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jolyon_Rubinstein. (what he says in his clip is mainly right, all the same).

Sunak personifies large parts of the overall problem: an Indian resident in the UK, and with a “British” passport, but avoiding most taxes, and who holds or until recently held, other passports; a former Goldman Sachs vulture banker; a globalist; pro-Israel; pro-immigration.

Not only news and opinion; the “blacks with everything” agenda has now taken over drama, TV soaps, TV ads, poster ads etc. I blogged about it a few years ago, in fact before it became completely pervasive: https://ianrobertmillard.org/2018/12/10/tv-ads-and-soaps-are-the-propaganda-preferred-by-the-system-in-the-uk/.

I saw a new ad recently. A white woman, 30-40, buying or leasing an expensive new car. Among the images, one of a mixed-race small child and one —almost subliminal— of the woman kissing the skull of a recumbent Bantu (father of said child?). Rassenschande.

Dr. Goebbels had nothing on this. 24/7 pervasive propaganda, pushing what amounts to the Coudenhove-Kalergi Plan, or “White Genocide” by stealth.

Action directe!

For once, and on this specifically, I support “Extinction Rebellion”.

For me, this matter should have been resolved by better planning at an earlier stage.

BBC Radio 4 News

Heard some of the 1800 hrs. BBC news on radio. Jesus H. Christ! Pure propaganda, mostly given over to the Commonwealth Games, which are apparently now in progress in Birmingham.

The reporter was obviously black, I think West Indian, and most of what he had to say was basically an attack on Britain, the British Empire, and the real (white) British people who built this country.

Defund the BBC, you say? I say obliterate it.

To make it worse, who was blathering on about his “convictions” (he has none, sadly, in either sense) but Boris-idiot, still posing as PM and saying that the £800M wasted on the aforesaid Birmingham black/brown pleb-fest was a good investment! That idiot really breaks all records for both dishonesty and sheer incompetence.

Televised sentencing

Saw on the TV news the first-ever filmed and broadcast sentencing, for murder. The judge was one Sarah Munro, i.e. H.H. Sarah Munro Q.C. I met her once in the (unisex) “advocate’s room” (robing room, as was) at Plymouth —or maybe Exeter, in fact; I cannot now recall— County Court (where I was appearing) and Crown Court (where she was appearing). Not sure whether she had taken silk at that point. Maybe. Sometime between 2002 and 2007. A very charming lady.

As to televised sentencing, I suppose it had to come eventually.

I was, when a practising barrister (1992-2008, with interruptions), always amazed at how few non-legal people even understood the basic court system. For example, the difference between a Crown Court and a County Court. Perhaps because they are now often in the same building. That should be taught, together with a few elementary legal concepts, at the secondary school level (as was done in ancient Rome). Either it is not being done in the UK, or not done effectively.

A kingfisher? Beautiful. I have only seen one once or twice, flying along the banks of small rivers unfrequented by humans.

The only hope for Greece was Golden Dawn. Instead, the Greeks mostly clutched at the wrong straw, the fake “Leftist”/”socialist” party, Syriza, which then betrayed the Greek people and sold out to EU globalist finance-capitalism. Meanwhile, Golden Dawn is repressed, its leaders killed or in prison.

Migration-invasion. It continues, day after day, up to 1,000 a day across the Channel. That’s just the “boat people”, not those coming in as invitees, “students” “family members”, “fiances and fiancees”, “business investors” etc.

When aged 7-10, used rusty bathtubs as sledges in old quarries, made home-made smoke bombs out of chemistry set chemicals (now not on sale in the UK and most of Europe) and odd bits and pieces, dug tunnels etc; later (aged 13) constructed a primitive but real baluster (Roman siege machine), which could and did hurl large boulders. Later still…well, let’s draw a veil…
