It does occur to me that, with the increasing pressure in the UK on animals, birds, fish, and insects, so many of which are now vulnerable or endangered, one possible answer might be to establish completely rewilded zones, perhaps 5 of them in England, and a smaller number but similar proportion in Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland.
I have not fully thought-out the idea, so these are just stray ideas at present.
Such rewilded zones would go beyond the various existing zone-regimes such as Green Belt, National Park, Site of Special Scientific Interest etc.
The idea would be for such zones to be changed from whatever land use presently exists to a completely wild forest. New building would be banned, and existing housing gradually reduced. There would be no industry and no large-scale agriculture or horticulture.
The above requirements suggest that areas already sparsely-inhabited would be chosen.
As for the size of such rewilded zones, I am thinking in terms of about the same size of circumference as the M25, i.e. the Greater London area. About 5 of those in England, perhaps 2 in Scotland, 1 in Wales and 1 in Northern Ireland.
Traffic would be very restricted over time, roads not open to the public (eventually). The zones to be linked with each other and other countryside areas by the kind of wildlife grid I have proposed over recent years.

I am old enough to remember those little shops. One in particular, in Caversham Heights, near Reading, early 1960s. The sweets were dispensed by the owner, I think an otherwise-retired old fellow, who sold them in small white-paper bags. A wide range, but I either bought small boiled sweets (very small balls of hard candy), or a kind of chewing gum that came with collectable cards depicting (and explaining) battles of the American Civil War of the 1860s. I wanted the cards, not the gum.
Very gory, those cards (as I discovered only when I belatedly read law, 20 years later) were the subject of a legal case (as to whether they counted as “obscene” because of their bloodsoaked content), which case went as high as the House of Lords (House of Lords Judicial Committee, the forerunner of the present UK Supreme Court). That was around 1965, only a couple of years after I used to buy the cards.
I remember that all my friends (who also bought the cards) favoured the Confederate side, but I (alone, I think) favoured the Union. Not sure now, over 60 years later, whether that was because the Union side was more efficient, or more advanced in weaponry, or just because I wanted to go contrary to the views of the mob.
The sweetshop in question was actually made out of the front part of an ordinary late-19thC house, which (I see from Google maps and streetview) has now reverted to being just a house again.
I also remember the little sweetshop because, aged about 7, I sheltered in that tiny shop after I (God knows why, now, but it would have been in self-defence) hit another boy, and then was sought out by the much older, and rather fearsome, brother of the same. In the end, the older boy caught me outside but, after I explained that I had hit his brother in self-defence, he was very reasonable, and let me off. Maybe I had dormant barristerial skills even then (or at least the ability to get out of scrapes)…

Well, that last seems wrong to me because, firstly, “legal defence” does not necessarily mean that the defendant is going to plead Not Guilty. Also, much of the expense is incurred prior to trial, though of course that will be more the case when the plea is going to be a Not Guilty.

So anyway, Tommy Robinson has been sentenced to 18 months. 40% of 18 months is around 6-7 months. He will be out again by next May, at latest and, perhaps, not quite Β£100,000 the richer.
I have often noted on the blog my view of Tommy Robinson, i.e, that he is one aspect of “controlled opposition”, and seems to be pro-Israel, though that may or may not be a tactic to get the Jewish lobby off his back, as with Trump (arguende).
Still, the movement around Tommy Robinson has moved the “Overton Window” a bit, as do all political activities. There was, in decades past, a discussion to be had about whether Britain could “punch above its weight”, partly via the Commonwealth. Soft power etc.
One is reminded of how the late great Maurice Oldfield, one-time Chief of SIS/MI6, cultivated foreign students at Oxford or Cambridge likely to become leaders of Commonwealth states. Sometimes, after they had already started on a political-career path. Notably, Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore.

As a former barrister (unlawfully and wrongfully disbarred in 2016 at the instigation of the Jewish lobby), I can see that what is happening is that many people involved (often only peripherally or online) with the protests and so-called “riots” of 2-3 months ago are now sentenced to terms of imprisonment (often years rather than months) for having done not very much; in some cases, almost nothing.
I am presuming that most of those sentenced will have had the benefit of legal advice from solicitors and Counsel.
The problem lies in the narrow legal view taken by many lawyers. I suspect that many of the lawyers involved looked at the political climate (eg the intervention on TV by “Tel Aviv Keith” Starmer in July or August), looked at the evidence, and then advised their clients to plead Guilty in order to mitigate the sentence.
All good advice, or would be in a “normal”, non-political, case.
The fact is that most of the sentences being given are absurdly harsh, even taking the charges at face value.
In my opinion, the defendants in most of the recent protest cases, at least the ones about which I have read, would have been no worse off, probably better off, had they pleaded Not Guilty.
I concede that one cannot these days rely on the good sense of the traditional British jury, because the brainwashing of the public continues apace, but still I believe that a jury trial would have given many of those charged a good chance of acquittal.
A gamble, true, to plead Not Guilty, but in these “political” cases not so much, because the “message” from on high seems to have come down, “lock them up“… I do not really believe that many of those defendants have been given a real diminution of sentence of a (or the, notional) third.
My own free speech trial in November 2023 (sentence, March 2024) was different, not having been connected to any violent or noisy protests, but it was still a “political” case (instigated by the malicious Jewish/Zionist/Israel lobby).
I republish the details here below but, in short, I pleaded Not Guilty to all 5 similar charges, was found guilty (by a District Judge sitting alone) on all 5 counts, and was sentenced to a financial impost amounting to Β£734, and to a period of, in effect, probation, involving 15 “rehabilitation days”. In the event, the financial penalty was one-third crowdfunded for me (the rest paid off over the past 6 months in instalments), and the “15 days” turned out to be about half a dozen meetings lasting from 20 minutes to a couple of hours.
All now water under the bridge, and the blog continues to be published daily, but would I really have got a lighter sentence had I pleaded Guilty? Frankly, I doubt it. For one thing, the malicious nature of the whole prosecution would not have been laid bare before the Court.

It’s sad that of the political candidates in this race (that I know of), only Dr. Shiva and Jill Stein dare to even oppose Israel. Everybody else who’s in the running remains COMPLICIT in supporting, endorsing or even funding Israel’s ongoing genocide and modern-day holocaust against humanity. That includes Trump, Kamala, RFK Jr., Walz and all of them. Not one of them will criticize Israel’s war crimes. And in this, they FAIL the most important test of leadership: Your humanity.

Yes, that is one extraordinary aspect of the whole mess. The Kiev regime is presently conscripting only those aged 27+ (in theory, younger men —and women— can volunteer, though few now do). The result is that the Kiev-regime forces are full of the middle-aged, while those approaching the age of 27 desperately try to flee the country, or hide inside Ukraine, or buy fake exemption papers, or bribe doctors etc.
I can only assume that the Zelensky cabal has decided that the under-27s have to be exempted on the grounds that the Ukrainians are actually dying out, and more babies have to be born. Demographically, Ukraine has no future, even when compared to Russia, or to the countries of Central and Western Europe.
Having said that, it seems that younger men are being press-ganged, illegally. Zelensky’s “Ukraine” is both brutal and shambolic.
