Iran is now able to tax all ships, or all it wants to tax, using the Strait of Hormuz. The “going rate” is said to be USD $2M per ship per transit. Normal traffic, i.e. when there is no active conflict, was about 150 ships per day (westward and eastward combined). That adds up about about USD $300M per day into Iran’s coffers. “A nice little earner”, if you like. Even if only the eastward ships are to be taxed, that would still be about USD $150M daily.

My tentative opinion on that is that Trump is someone who likes to present himself as someone who gets things done. If Russia stays firm, Trump will offer more, probably.
From the Russian side, all that matters is whether Trump continues to give arms, ammunition, and money to the Kiev regime. There are three possibilities— more, less, or the same. “Less” can be split into “some” or “none”. My money is on “less” (but still “some”). Out of a population in the UK of 70 million, only 100 thousand. About one out of every 700 people in the country. Were that 1/700th to disappear —the hard-core of “antifa” and also a far larger layer of “me-too-ers— that would be the end of the matter.

The quotation has occurred to me a few times since I started writing this blog in late 2016. Yesterday, WordPress sent, not for the first time, an automated message saying “Your stats are booming! Ian Robert Millard is getting lots of traffic“, which was pleasing, but (as on previous occasions) I think it better to proceed as if the blog had but one reader each day, rather than (often) hundreds of individual readers over the course of any 24 hours.
Having said that, it is good to see the increase in readership since I started the blog in November 2016. The first two full years of the blog (calendar years 2017 and 2018) showed a readership about the same in both years, though marginally higher in 2017 compared to 2018. However, there was a 500% increase in 2019, then a further nearly 400% increase in traffic in 2020. At present, it looks as if traffic for 2021 will be at a similar level to that of 2020, in other words, nearly 7x that of 2017.
Reverting to the headline quotation, I should prefer my blog to influence only one reader who then goes out to change the world, than a thousand — or a million— for whom the blog is merely something to read for 5 minutes, and leading to no action.
On the whole, that blog post, shorter than those I now put out, has aged well, though I was too optimistic in hoping that a nascent social-national movement would arise before 2020. In fact, there is still, in 2021, no obvious sign of one (I mean, of course, a credible one). The System’s fake “nationalist” parties headed by, mainly, Nigel Farage, i.e. UKIP and then Brexit Party, and now “Reform Party”, have prevented the birth of a proper social-national party.
We look now to the future. There is still all to play for.

“An encounter in Waitrose” sounds almost like “bloodshed at the Nell Gwynn Tea Rooms“, as mentioned by Basil Fawlty in Fawlty Towers. Not much of an incident, but it was telling all the same.
I went to pay at Waitrose, wearing my facemask, as mandated by Boris-idiot (without it, I should be unable to get past the dozy Handmaid’s Tale militia who now almost invariably loiter outside). I make sure that my nose is above the mask, both for convenience and to show at least restrained contempt for the facemask nonsense, the Government, and the scared rabbits who take it all terribly seriously.
So I go to pay, and the cashier (one I had not seen before, a fat woman in her forties, wearing a thick mask-muzzle) indicated to me that I should pull up my mask! The sheer presumption of it! Well, I did not want to have the sort of near-violent (if only from me!) altercation with a woman as I had had a few weeks ago with some Chinese student nuisance, so I made a gesture of touching the mask, and waved my hand as if to say “Thank you. Repeat F.O.”
The woman did not give up (a characteristic of the busybody type) and said “it’s to protect me“, to which (if I say so myself) I was too polite to counter with “I’m shopping, not screwing you“.
After that, I packed my shopping, paid, and left.
Instructive, because it proves how deep the fear propaganda has gone. That woman was herself both wearing a mask and largely behind a perspex screen!
It makes one realize that, under other circumstances, such a woman might well herd dissenters into a labour camp, or report to the Stasi. Whatever.

I knew that surgical masks are not exactly the same as most of those now imposed upon the shoppers of Britain, just as SAS urban-operational clothing is not ordinary black clothing but is made specifically for its likely use in dangerous situations; very tough and also flame-retardant. I think that's very sad. But I also don't think most of the country should end up unemployed because of it. It's not just shops and pubs that close and lose staff, there's a knock-on effect. I work in insurance, redundancies/pay cuts abound. We've already shut a regional office.

To think I used to want to be in the House of Lords. The list of new peers today (with a few honourable exceptions) must be the worst since the days of Harold Wilson.
Harold Wilson, as PM, certainly appointed or elevated a pack of treasonous Jews as members of the House of Lords; some corrupt types as well. I doubt though, whether he would ever have made “peers” out of the son of a [former] KGB officer, out of pro-IRA women etc. What do the idiots who troop out and vote “Conservative” think of that? Does the news make them think, for once? Just once? Probably not.
You often read of, say, the days of Stalin, and about how the most extraordinary and Kafka-esque social conditions were induced by various methods of State and social pressure. “Couldn’t ever happen here!“, English people used to say. Well, they were wrong; and it will get worse.
True, no-one has been shot yet, but people are already being imprisoned or otherwise penalized for making a public speech (Jez Turner), singing songs mocking “holocaust” fakes and hoaxers (Alison Chabloz), or for putting up stickers in Cardiff (name unknown to me, but whoever he was, he got two and a half years! For putting a few stickers on lamp-posts!).
The above tweet shows other aspects of the same madness. The knee-bending plods would be yet another aspect of that same or an allied madness.
