Saturday quiz

Well, this week brings another victory over political journalist John Rentoul, who scored 4/10. I scored 9/10. I did not know the answer to question no.9 and, if truth be known, merely guessed no. 5 (it was the one I had in the back of my mind, though, when I saw the question). Question 1 has four or five possible “correct” answers; I knew one of them.

Exactly. Another Starmer-Labour trick. Exactly what we do not want— non-Europeans with Irish passports. That includes the mainly Irish “tinker”/”traveller” rabble, who admittedly are ethnically European, indeed Irish by origin, but often are also predators and scavengers, and parasites.

[“Exclusive: Rachel Reeves has warned cabinet ministers that tax rises in the autumn budget are likely to prove even more challenging than the £40 billion package she imposed in November The chancellor told cabinet on Tuesday that the decision to abandon welfare reforms meant taxes would have to rise to cover the cost She said the rises in her first budget, which included a £24 billion increase in employers’ national insurance contributions, were ‘painful’ but were the ‘low-hanging fruit’ Tax rises in the autumn are likely to be smaller than last year’s but she is still expected to have to raise tens of billions of pound. Reeves told ministers that would be a ‘big challenge’ given that she has limited options Ministers have been told that the spending review will not be reopened, meaning the bulk of any shortfall will have to come from tax rises Economists have warned that the scale of the hole in the public finances means that she may have to break Labour’s manifesto pledge not to increase income tax, national insurance or VAT. There are also suggestions that she could raid pension savings, which was rejected before the last budget Allies of Reeves say Labour rebels will have to ‘own’ the tax rises after they killed off welfare reforms. https://thetimes.com/article/9466ce73-ea71-4025-bd4e-bddbaf538d7b“]

That Jew, Finkelstein, now (absurdly) in the House of Lords, used to tweet to people who retweeted me (I was expelled from Twitter in 2018 after a concerted campaign by numbers of Jew-Zionists), demanding or “requesting” that they not retweet me.

How “typical”, though; Finkelstein supports mass immigration, i.e. invasion, of this country.

A couple of rounds from a police pistol would have punctured the boat as effectively. About 30 would have prevented another attempt. Extrapolate at leisure…

The British people are confused, exploited, stamped upon, invaded, frightened, and do not know where to turn. This is the moment when a real social national party and/or movement could make hay. Sadly, there is none.

About half of all Jews in the world live in Israel, the rest in a number of other states.

A rather nice Chevy Suburban. I wanted to get one of those a few years ago, but they are expensive when sold new in the UK; there are almost none used on sale, and actually they are not so convenient either, being heavy on fuel consumption and also rather outsize for roads and (especially) the cramped parking places in this country. The same is true of the Lincoln Navigator, though there are usually a few used ones for sale in the UK at reasonable prices.

Not that I am a car buff. I only had a driving licence from age 42, and for me the appropriate phrase would be “a second-class ride is better than a first-class walk“…

Well, as we know, the Jewish/Israeli tail wags the American/U.S. dog.

Surely the time has come for Russia to end this awful war by rolling over all of Ukraine east of the Dnieper. Looks like the window of opportunity is, or soon will be, there. Finish the conflict, drive out Zelensky’s cabal from Kiev, then rebuild in co-operation with the peoples of Eastern Ukraine.

Perhaps Woody Allen will make a film about it.

Sooner or later, the inhabitants of Central Israel will wake up to a big bang. Or maybe not wake up.

Gaza and the fragmented West Bank are now being further “ethnically cleansed” by Jews.

“They” leave their victims with nothing, not even a few percent of the land that, a century ago, belonged entirely to the victims they have killed, driven out, or cheated.

Seems very unlikely to me. Rutte was a business executive [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Rutte], and really should leave grand strategy to others.

Interesting. Similar communities are springing up all over the USA, in Germany, and elsewhere.

“They” were behind the rigged Nuremberg “trials”. Perhaps that is a precedent that, one day, will be revisited.

Once Tice, Farage, Matt Goodwin etc have junked Lab and Con, the national revolution may finally start, swallowing them up too.

Looking at it globally, there is only one solution, overall.

Britain in 2025.

We need a society which draws on, inter alia, the more positive aspects of socialism, private enterprise, National Socialism, Grail Christianity, and New Age philosophies, in particular Anthroposophy (etc).

A very different kind of society.

We also have to “take out the rubbish”, even if that means doing things on a large scale which we might prefer to avoid.

Whatever it takes…

Farage does not even bother to conceal the fact that he is a puppet of Israel and the Jewish lobby.

I still hope that Reform UK will destroy the main System parties, though; once Reform fails in its turn, a real social-national movement can find favour with the British people.

Imagine asking that dim n** a serious legal question! He was only a “diversity-hire” gopher for a couple of years prior to his political career(ism).

Lammy is truly an embarrassment, but then so is this entire Labour Friends of Israel government headed by Starmer-stein.

…and anyone who has dealt with Zionist Jews…[REDACTED by reason of the repression of free speech in the UK]…

[“Iran’s parliament initiates closure of Strait of Hormuz; Medvedev: Several countries ready to give Tehran A-bombs Dmitry MEDVEDEV: The Americans have not achieved anything yet. The critical infrastructure of the Iranian nuclear cycle, apparently, has not been damaged or has been damaged only slightly. The enrichment of nuclear materials, and now we can directly say – and the future production of nuclear weapons, will continue Israel continues to be the target of Iranian strikes, explosions are heard, people are panicking. The United States is drawn into a new conflict with the prospect of having to lead a ground operation. The Iranian political regime has been preserved and with a high degree of probability has been strengthened…“]

One thing is for sure: the American bombing of the nuclear bases or laboratories makes no immediate difference to the current Iran-Israel war, which is being fought at long-range using conventional weapons— missiles with high-explosive warheads, drones and, on the Israeli side, bombers and fighter-bombers. In the short-term, therefore, the matter will be decided by the side that can keep on delivering warheads onto significant targets.

There must be some way for Russia to eliminate that troublesome Khazar.

Talking point

Whatever the facts re. damage to those bases may be in reality, the overriding fact is that the actual war Iran-Israel will continue regardless.

The Israeli Jews (?) are out of control. Gaza is the obvious, but not the only, example.

If Iranian missile launches continue, will the Israelis, perhaps starting to run out of ground-to-air missiles, then prioritize the defence of Tel Aviv etc, moving missiles to those areas from perceivedly less important places? Hard to say at present.

“They” just hate it when the truth is expressed about their malign influence over UK/US (etc) politics.

New?

Very sonorous.

As said, that may or may not be true, but in any event will not change the basic dynamics of the Iran-Israel war that Israel, after all, started recently. All that matters is how many missiles each side has.

If Netanyahu was, for once, telling the truth when saying a day or two ago that Iran still has 27,000 missiles (some sources give figures as low as 2,000), many too advanced to be easily intercepted, and if it is also true (as many claim) that Israel is running out of anti-missile missiles, then those claimed 27,000 Iranian weapons will be able to reduce Tel Aviv and other urban areas in Israel/Occupied Palestine to rubble, akin to the devastation which the Israelis have wrought in Gaza.

Ah. Another “volunteer” is escorted to his transport, waiting to take him to the frontline killing fields. More unofficial reportage from the supposedly free and democratic Ukraine of Zelensky’s Kiev regime, in which brutal, corrupt, and shambolic dictatorship free speech is banned, dissent is banned, opposition political parties are banned, trade unions are banned, and escape from the country is banned.

The potential “terror” threat from them is of little importance, in reality. The real danger to our society is the 1,000 migrant-invaders. Both the kind of people they are and the sheer numbers of them. How can this society even survive the influx of a thousand of the bastards every single day (on average)? It cannot. Add to that thousand the other ~5,000 that came in on the same day, but superficially legally…and then add in the births to non-Europeans already here…

Already we see the UK slowly falling to pieces. What do you imagine it will be like by 2030? What about 2040?

Absolutely incredible. Meanwhile, the black “security guard” actually has his hands in his pockets!

The basic conundrum is “what is democracy?“— See https://ianrobertmillard.org/2019/01/15/has-parliamentary-democracy-as-we-have-known-it-until-now-had-its-day-in-the-uk/.

Reform UK is a symptom of how angry rather a lot of English people are about the state of the country. Over 4 million votes, over 14% of those voters who voted (i.e. Reform UK was voted for by 1 in 7 voters).

Reform UK got 14.3% of votes, but only 5 MPs.

LibDems? Fewer votes by far than Reform, yet 72 MPs. Ridiculous.

The Conservative Party got 23.7%, little more than one and a half times the number of votes taken by Reform, yet 121 MPs.

Where is the justice, or even logic, in that?

As for the Labour Party, its 33.7% of votes cast represents less than two and a half times the Reform vote, yet it ends up with 411 MPs!

Again, no justice and no logic.

Apparently, Peter Barnes (or Peter C. Barnes) is a UK political campaigns person, who works or has worked for the Conservative Party, and who appears on the “no-one watches” Talk TV and the “almost no-one watches” GB News television outlets.

Seems that Barnes blames Reform UK for Labour’s faux “landslide” (procured by a mere 33.7% of votes cast, i.e. about 20% of all potential votes), and via an electoral system patently not fit for purpose.

In reality, the blame for the Starmer-Labour victory should be placed, first and foremost, with a succession of supposedly “Conservative” governments over the past 14 years, headed by no less than 5 Conservative Party prime ministers who all turned out to be complete deadheads.

Those Conservative Party governments presided over the importation of 3-4 MILLION immigrants, mostly non-European, and over the trashing of public services including the libraries, courts, police, district nursing, roads, elder care, social housing; also riverine pollution… you name it.

At present, mass immigration into the UK is somewhere around a million a year. Yes, a few hundred thousand also leave, but most of the leavers are Brit or other European people emigrating to Australasia and elsewhere.

Barnes seems to think that, had Reform UK not existed, all or most of its voters would have voted Con, thus preventing a Labour government, or one with a majority.

First of all, while most 2024 election Reform UK voters would not have voted Labour in those or any circumstances, that does not mean that they would have voted Con. Probably not. More likely, abstention.

Secondly, parties exist for a reason. There now seems little reason for most voters to vote Con. That seems to be lost on Westminster Bubble types such as Barnes (of whom I had not heard until today). Reform UK is the outcome of profound discontent in the depths of the population.

If Labour (as I firmly expect) fails to give the British people what they require, then Reform UK will not only grow in influence, but will also be the least of the problems of the System parties.

Britain needs a real social-national movement.

Cronyism, petty or not so petty corruption and fraud…it’s like the Blair-Brown years all over again.

Building hutches for migrant-invaders.

Not just Muslims in the UK. The Labour “elected” dictatorship will no doubt target any English people unwilling to accept the Zionists.

Rachel Reeves believes in the nationalization of intimidation…

We must be clear: the minority of “activist” blacks and browns want the real British people, the so-called “white British”, to disappear, bred out or otherwise disposed of.

As I predicted. Labour continues the fiction that the problem is “smuggling gangs” etc, when the real problem is the migration invasion itself (both “legal” and “illegal”), and that would be about the same whether or not various types of criminal were making profits from it all.

I also predicted that Labour in government would open “processing centres” in France, approve 95% of applicants (who will then travel on to the UK “legally”, via ferry or air); the TV and newspaper coverage of invaders being ferried to the South Coast ports (via RNLI and Border Force) or beaches (via rubber boats etc) will simply all but stop, but the invasion itself will continue, just invisibly.

Tweeter “@IGMansfield” obviously loves the new “elected” dictatorship of Labour, as it prepares to build over the once “green and pleasant land” so that the invading migrants have a hutch to call their own. No consultation, no appeal, and he loves it.

We often talk about the “enemies of the people”. They now emerge in plain sight. Those who want to trash what is left of this country, whether for profit or for political tendentiousness.

Look at those applauding that tweet (eg below). Not all, or even mostly, any kind of “socialist”:

There is still a small window of opportunity for a party such as Reform UK, or even a genuinely social-national party, to make headway in terms of Commons seats etc. All roads lead to Rome. However, we are getting to the point where ordinary political activity, as per the Reform phenomenon, is not likely to lead to real success, or to triumph.

We are facing an exploding non-European population in the UK, and an upcoming repression on free speech worse than anything so far seen.

Meanwhile, the hordes of “useful idiots” applaud fake “Labour” and love to see government being tyrannical and careless of civil rights (a phenomenon also noted during the 2020-2022 “Covid” panicdemic/scamdemic),

Again…

The “enemies of the people”…

Starmer-Labour has little in common with “the party formerly known as Labour”; it is a finance-capitalist project, which poses (and is presented by the msm) as wildly popular because of its Commons “landslide”, when in reality (as examined on the blog over the past few days), it only got 33.7% of the popular vote. Indeed, 40% of the eligible electorate did not vote, so the real support for Starmer-Labour in the country is only about 20%.

This is a WEF government, a ZOG/NWO government, a Labour Friends of Israel government, a Bilderberg government. It has no real validity.

Incidentally, I now know who that tweeter “@IGMansfield” is— a senior figure at the finance-capitalist “think tank” (lobby org), Policy Exchange: https://policyexchange.org.uk/news/new-additions-to-our-expanded-team-at-policy-exchange/.

Starmer-Labour is really just another globalist and finance-capitalist “project” akin to Blair’s “New Labour”, as seen in the many Blair-Brown faces now in government. The myriad new MPs are basically lobby-fodder.

Miliband, who claimed in 2009 at Copenhagen that we had either 3 or 5 years to “save the planet”. Then the planet yawned and everyone, or almost everyone, forgot about the prediction (which was echoed by the then Prince Charles).

Well, now Miliband is back, wanting to cover the countryside in turbines.

I thought that that “@Bushra1Shaikh” Twitter/X account must be some form of satire, but apparently not.

There it is, anyway— the latest batch of migrant-invaders, brought to the UK by one of the government agencies meant to protect our borders from invasion and breach by criminals…

See also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalergi_Plan.

The “Bushra Shaikh” person tweeting actually seems to exist for real, albeit on an incredibly low intellectual/educational level.

Just looked her up online. Apparently, she was on the TV show The Apprentice about 7 years ago, in 2017 (fired before the show came to an end). 40-41 years old, a divorced single mother of three children, and a businesswoman of some sort, who sells Muslim clothing.

A commentator on the blog reminded me of the clip below, not seen for a long time:

[when not accepted as a “world leader”…]

I still think that the most telling thing about Greta Thunberg is how the decadent mainstream media, politicians etc at least pretend to take this uneducated and afflicted girl (now 19) as some kind of sage, when actually she has nothing to offer. It says something about the world we are in today.

“Jack” Monroe, the “Bootstrap Cook”; some thoughts about “poverty”

I thought that it was worth reposting those tweets, which refer to the Twitter storm around “Jack” Monroe, aka “Bootstrap Cook” (mentioned in yesterday’s blog).

I have no particular animus against “Bootstrap Cook”, and I should imagine that many find her recipes and other advice very useful [see https://cookingonabootstrap.com/category/recipes-food/], but it is clear that she herself is not (now) in what most people would regard as poverty.

As to my own experiences of “poverty”, I have had some pretty low moments from time to time over the years, for example after I returned to the UK in Spring 1998, after a few months living in Egypt [https://ianrobertmillard.org/2019/03/07/when-i-was-not-arrested-in-egypt/].

Was I myself “in poverty” when I returned to London? It certainly seemed so!

Think living in a single room in a flat (provided by a friend of a friend— eventually, and very belatedly, months later, paid for by Housing Benefit). Think living largely off tiny State benefit for 3-4 months (monies also delayed for weeks). Think having to be a little bit “creative” in finding ways to travel around London, and equally “creative” in finding out how to increase supply of food and reading material (mainly books).

Yet only a few years before, I had quite often been paid, as Counsel, £1,000 or more for often quite brief (less than half a day) appearances in the High Court or elsewhere.

Later, living in the former Soviet Union in 1996-97, my home was a kind of large penthouse with a very wide wraparound balcony, I had a former MVD car and driver to ferry me to my office etc, a Rolex Seadweller on my wrist, and I rarely carried less than USD $5,000 on my person.

Incidentally, barristers reading this might sneer at the modesty of those High Court fees (perhaps a tenth or a twentieth of the fees some now get and even back then received), but this was 1993-95, nearly 30 years ago, and I was only just out of pupillage (on-the-job training). Anyway, it seemed good at the time to me.

What those born into wealth usually fail to know, having never experienced it, is how quickly a comfortable lifestyle can disappear, without personal capital or family money as a safety net.

When I was living on pennies —and my wits— in the London of March-June 1998, I often walked past Julie’s restaurant in Notting Hill, a restaurant patronized by film stars and other “celebrities”, and a place which I had previously visited several times, only 2-3 years before, and arriving in a large white Mercedes (a girlfriend’s car).

Maybe 3 years later, in 1998, I would have been unable to buy a coffee in the same restaurant, and I wondered whether those staring out of the windows could perceive somehow just how poor I was (maybe a subjective and resentful thought: after all, the Rolex may have gone, but I was still clad in an Austin Reed overcoat and Dents leather gloves etc).

There is no need for me to say more about that very pinched time in my life. Adolf Hitler had it worse, in the Vienna of 1909-1912. Eventually, my several months of poverty came to an end and then, less than a year after I had returned penniless to London, I was spending time living in a villa in the Caribbean, with a private beach (in effect), though those sometimes pleasant months sadly did not become sybaritic years (though I did spend much of 1999 in and around the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico— several Caribbean islands, and the Gulf Coast of Florida).

I later had more ups and downs, but that is enough for today.

I do not know a great deal in detail about “Jack” Monroe, the Bootstrap Cook, but I would guess that she knows a lot about “precarious” life in the Britain of today. Occasional poverty, occasional plenty, but not much security either way.

Many many people in Britain in 2022 are part of that “precariat”. This has political implications. Labour was the party of the industrial “proletariat”, mainly, a class which is now all but non-existent. “Bootstrap Cook”, leaving aside her personal predilections, is in that sense far more typical of the masses than would be the Soviet-style miner, rail worker, or other member of the organized labour force, insofar as such people still exist in the UK.

If there were a credible social-national movement in the UK, the “Bootstrap Cook” would probably not support it, but the “precariat” in general would, especially as inflation, low pay, and low State benefits all start to bite.

More tweets seen

Well, £600 is not a fortune for a watch these days (any of my one-time Rolex Seadwellers would be £10,000-£15,000 in 2022), but I take her point.

…on the other hand, Bootstrap Cook is, after all, from Essex, the home of “bling”…

Meanwhile, though the @norfolkchatter1 Twitter account has disappeared, the storm around the Bootstrap Cook has, if anything, intensified, with many Twit-people (including the terminally “woke”) supporting her, but also with many others either criticizing her or demanding to know exactly how much capital or income she really has at her disposal, and asking whether she is exploiting people who donate to her when they really cannot afford to do so.

Legitimate questions, arguably, though it is almost axiomatic that the poor (however defined) do donate more generally than the wealthy or not poor (however defined), relative to income. Also, people are assumed to be compos mentis; if they want to donate to someone, that is their choice. There are many worthwhile-seeming appeals around: see, e.g. https://www.gofundme.com/f/judith-thorpe-funeral-children-fund; and https://www.gofundme.com/f/please-if-you-can-help-to-keep-our-boy-safe.

[Incidentally, I do not know anyone involved in either of the two GoFundMe appeals above; I just happened to see them].

“Covid” “panicdemic”

Looks like reality has started, finally, to break through…

Late tweets seen

Sometimes I wonder what, WHAT, would make the mass of British people wake up to the “panicdemic”, the nonsense measures such as facemask-wearing that were part of the scam, or to the “support Ukraine” propaganda or, as in that tweet, the very real dangers of the “Covid” “vaccines”, but I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that nothing, nothing at all, will awaken the masses. A “victory” by a football team, or whatever absolute shite is on “reality” (unreality) TV that week, and the real and important issues are forgotten again.

Maybe after the nuclear war with Russia that so many have been brainwashed into (as they imagine) wanting to see, the survivors will see their reality more clearly.

A Jewish careerist called Mark Damazer got rid of the Radio 4 UK theme in 2006, supposedly because he wanted to put a “pacy news briefing” in its place. I myself suspect that the theme was just too traditionally British for him…

Damazer was also responsible for inflicting the often painfully-ignorant (and suspiciously Americanophile) Justin Webb on the BBC Radio 4 Today Programme audience: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Damazer; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justin_Webb.

Quite right. That Maguire idiot is a typical System-Labour drone. No ideas about how to improve society, no proper analysis of current events, just kneejerk tribal Labourism and politically-correct infantilism, while coining as much money as possible from scribbling and being a TV talking head. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Maguire_(journalist). Oh, and of course he tends to play the “gritty and disillusioned Northerner” on Sky News newspaper reviews etc, while actually living rather comfortably in affluent Richmond, South West London (when not at his holiday home) with his (privately-educated) journalist/novelist wife: see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emma_Burstall.

The “gutless, dishonest politicians” (“Conservatives”, in power since 2010) to whom Farage himself gave, in 2019, a large Commons majority (by shooting his own Brexit Party supporters and candidates in the head at the General Election).

Labour

I return again to the question of the prospects of the Labour Party now that its leadership is totally controlled (once more) by the Jew-Zionist element.

The most recent opinion polling:

Image

I recently examined the North Shropshire by-election in this regard, inter alia. This is what I wrote on the blog:

Since North Shropshire was re-dedicated in 1983, and until the by-election, Labour has failed to come in second only four times, and only once (2010) since 1992.

It is all very well to talk about tactical voting, or Labour supporters “lending their votes” to the LibDem in order to beat the Con candidate. Yes; no argument on that, but is that the whole story? The 9.7% scored in the by-election was the lowest Labour vote ever in North Shropshire. Even in 1983, at the height of Thatcherism, and when Labour suffered its crushing national defeat under Michael Foot [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983_United_Kingdom_general_election], it still scored 14.7% (third place) in North Shropshire.

The conclusion must be that, while many formerly Labour votes went tactically (or otherwise) to the LibDem, many Labour voters just voted with their feet, if such be the bon mot, and stayed home. Labour scored 22.1% in 2019, and 31.1% in 2017 (both under Corbyn) in the constituency.

If this by-election result is bad for Boris-idiot, it is arguably at least as great a blow for Labour’s Jewish-lobby leadership under Keir Starmer. The problem is not just the “Israel first” aspect of Labour’s present leadership, but also the way in which the supposed “Opposition” keeps propping up “Boris” over various matters, such as the Online Harms Bill and, of more immediate political importance, the Covid/Omicron “panicdemic” “rules” and “laws”.

No-one really can have expected Labour to win the by-election, but to fall below 10% is a straw in the wind that (in my view) is significant.” See https://ianrobertmillard.org/2021/12/17/diary-blog-17-december-2021-including-analysis-of-the-north-shropshire-by-election-result/.

Starmer-Labour may be doing well in the opinion polls now (is that a surprise, looking at the Boris-idiot disaster?) but we all know how volatile polls can be, and how inaccurate, especially a year or two before any general election.

It may well be that, were “Boris” to be dumped, the Conservative Party might recover ground, despite its lack of credible leadership candidates.

Labour’s basic problem remains, as seen in the graphic below, showing voter migration from the 2017 General Election to the 2019 election:

Labour’s problem is not how popular the Conservatives are (they are not, and were not even in 2019), but in how unpopular Labour is, resulting not so much in voters moving to the Conservatives, but in former Labour voters either voting for minor protest parties, or voting tactically for LibDems but, more than either of those options, simply not bothering to vote.

Look at North Shropshire: former Labour voters either voted tactically for the LibDems, or stayed home and/or did not vote for Labour anyway.

A far less significant, but still interesting, election, a local one, has just happened not far from where I myself live:

Local elections, with their small electorate, smaller turnout, and often huge swings based on local factors, are hard to forecast at times, as can be seen from the Britain Elects pre-poll analysis: https://www.britainelects.com/2021/12/23/previewing-the-last-council-by-election-of-the-year-23-dec-2021/. Still, look at the result.

The Conservative Party vote was previously around 72%, but now has fallen to 18.5%, and a poor third place. Look at Labour’s result, too; a fall from nearly 28% to 4.2%, and (as usual) last place.

A local by-election result of that sort is, at best, a small straw in the wind, but does indicate the disdain in which both main parties are held by the voting public. It looks as if the former Conservative voters mostly voted for the Independent (a local farmer and former Conservative Party county councillor), while the former Labour vote migrated to the Green Party (which was not in the last election). As for the LibDems, they seem to have been unable to find a candidate at all.

It is a matter of speculation to what extent such a local election is affected by national political factors, but I do not think that those national factors can be entirely discounted.

Labour may be favoured in recent national opinion polling, but I am sceptical as to whether it really can pull a rabbit out of the hat and achieve a Commons majority in 2022, 2023, or 2024.

North Shropshire results for the Labour Party were 31.1% in 2017, 22.1% in 2019, and 9.7% in 2021: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Shropshire_(UK_Parliament_constituency)#Elections_in_the_2020s.

What about that other celebrated 2021 by-election, at Chesham and Amersham? Yes, the LibDems took the formerly considered safe Conservative seat, as at North Shropshire; the Labour results for the constituency, though, are again very striking: in 2017, 20.6%; in 2019, 12.9%, then a collapse in 2021 to only 1.6%: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chesham_and_Amersham_(UK_Parliament_constituency)#Elections_in_the_2020s.

Same direction of travel— a collapse in the Labour vote. True, not directly significant, in that neither seat has ever been won by Labour. However, similar decline elsewhere, in seats where Labour has succeeded in the past, could all but finish Labour as a party of government.

Of course, those who control the System do not care which of the two main System parties wins, because both parties are part of the System.

As always, I believe that a credible social-national movement —and party— could rise up, to all but annihilate the System parties; but, as always, I have to note that no such party presently exists.

A good but arguable point.

Ellwood is a sinister character.

Twin

Watched the start of Norwegian crime/drama series, Twin [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twin_(TV_series)]. Slightly underwhelming; probably not quite my sort of crime drama, and the bleak Norwegian Atlantic winter (I presume) scenery I find depressing.

The oddest aspect of that series is that here we are in some remote part of Norway, and one of the detectives from the local town is an African! I know that Norway, like much of Europe, has seen a massive influx (invasion), but surely this is just grotesque? In fact, there were two more non-Europeans, one an (?) Indian woman, and also a small child whose supposed parents were both Norwegians. Why? How? No explanation offered.

Seems that the Coudenhove-Kalergi propaganda is not confined to UK TV shows…

“Boris”-idiot

Saw this by Guardian writer John Crace. Not sure of the date, but it is very good as a summary, obvious though it is:

“…Boris Johnson. If he has a talent, it’s a talent for lying. And while it may have cost him countless relationships and friendships, it has taken him all the way to Downing Street. Put simply, he has become prime minister by lying better than all the other contenders for the job. But now he has run out of road and the lies have caught up with him. He’s the cartoon villain hopelessly spinning his legs before plunging into the abyss. Brexit has failed to deliver any of its promised rewards, and inflation, at more than 5%, is far higher than wage growth. No matter how Boris tries to spin it, people are feeling more broke by the week.” [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Crace_(writer)#Views]

National Service

Many of the Twitter-twits highly agitato because some Daily Telegraph scribbler has floated the idea of reintroducing “National Service” (I believe that the “Royal Cuck” has mentioned it in the past).

My view? First of all, that National Service, which ran, in the usual meaning, from 1948 to 1960 (the last such conscripts were demobilized in 1963) was not a hugely effective or cost-effective thing from the point of view of the Army (which used the bulk of the manpower). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conscription_in_the_United_Kingdom#After_1945

These days, it is considered necessary to train soldiers for six months or more before they are much use in action. Thus, to train millions of young men, only to release them from their obligation a year or 18 months later, is very wasteful.

Secondly, the pushback from those unwillingly recruited, then demobbed, may have been one fact fuelling the decadence of the 1960s.

Thirdly, Britain, even in the 1950s, had both an empire, albeit one being dismantled, and an enemy (the Warsaw Pact bloc, or SovBloc) which also had huge numbers of men under arms and was thought to pose a credible invasion threat to all of Western Europe.

You cannot compare the 1950s to today. It follows that, as things stand, I should not like to see National Service reintroduced. Actually, I very nearly had to do the Australian equivalent, having lived there from 1967, aged 10, to late 1969, aged 13. The SEATO Treaty then in force meant that Australian (and New Zealand) forces were fighting in Vietnam on the American side. At age 18, from late 1974, I would have been subject, possibly, to conscription, but as things turned out, my family returned to the UK before the end of 1969, and in any case Australian forces in Vietnam were slowly reduced from 1970; the last few “advisers” left Vietnam in 1974: see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_history_of_Australia_during_the_Vietnam_War.

It makes me laugh, though, to see the Twitter-twits attacking Britain in the 1950s. They all seem to have three points, which might be summarized as “blacks were badly treated”, “gays were badly treated”, and “food was terrible” (because of rationing, in part).

In fact, while gay activities were unlawful, it seems that the laws were not heavy-handedly enforced; some areas (eg Soho, in London) were notorious for such activity.

As to blacks, well despite what present-day msm propaganda (eg in dramas such as Grantchester etc) portrays, there were almost no blacks (or browns) in England then, with the exception of a few ports and a few parts of London. The Empire Windrush had scarcely disembarked its passengers, and they had only just started to breed.

I myself can only remember seeing one black person in the UK before 1969, and that was an NHS consultant (ENT) at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, circa 1962.

Food rationing (a result of the terrible and completely unnecessary war against the German Reich from 1939-1945), lasted, in part, until 1954, true (and in most respects was harsher in the few years after the end of that war, because Britain was badly-damaged economically), but rapidly ceased to be part of everyday life during the 1950s. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rationing_in_the_United_Kingdom; and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rationing_in_the_United_Kingdom#Timeline.

Other aspects of life in the 1950s compare badly to life today: the lack of central heating in most houses would be one such. On the other hand, the UK population was about 55 million, compared to maybe 70 million today. The countryside was uncrowded and had hugely more wildlife (overall) than now, there was incomparably less crime (especially violent crime) in the UK, society was more stable, less volatile, and children could generally wander safely around the countryside (as I did, though a few years later, in the early/mid 1960s, both on foot and bicycle, the number of cars being only a fraction of the number filling the roads of England today). There were very few non-Europeans around.

Either way, it hardly matters now; “we are where we are“…

Dominic Cummings

Regular readers may recall that I blogged a few times in 2019, 2020 and later about the enigmatic Dominic Cummings: https://ianrobertmillard.org/2020/01/03/dominic-cummings-a-government-of-dystopia-and-lunacy-posing-as-genius/; and https://ianrobertmillard.org/2019/08/10/les-eminences-grises-of-dystopia/.

Well, I have just seen his more recent messaging to the British public:

This government (and its advisers) are more like a dystopian black comedy than a real one could possibly be. To what can one compare it all? Blackadder? The Goons? The Goodies?

Social history too: I remember looking, as a small boy, at my feet, through a “pedoscope” as used by Michael Caine/Harry Palmer in that clip. They were banned later because of the radioactive matter used (radium). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoe-fitting_fluoroscope.
