Saturday quiz

Damn. For the second time recently, political journalist John Rentoul beat my score (which has happened only very rarely over the past several years). This week, he scored 8/10 as against my 7/10. I did not know the answers to questions 2, 6, and 10.

From the newspapers

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/aug/11/zelenskiy-sacks-all-military-recruitment-heads-over-frontline-bribes-scandal-ukraine

As not infrequently noted on the blog, Ukraine now has few domestic volunteers willing to go to near-certain death or serious injury at the front. Likewise, few foreign adventurers are now willing to risk it, whether for misguided idealism, for thrills, or for —relatively paltry— money.

Many Ukrainians are trying to evade conscription, and/or to get across the borders of Ukraine (forbidden to most men 18+ in age). Meanwhile, Kiev-regime press-gangs are now scouring the streets trying to find draft-dodgers. The wealthier evaders are willing to pay plenty for an exemption document, which might also allow them to escape the country.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12399127/President-Zelensky-takes-Ukraine-war-Russia-Moscow-Kyiv-engage-tit-tat-drone-missile-strikes.html

Ukraine and Russia have engaged in tit-for-tat drone and missile attacks as their war of attrition intensifies.

President Volodymyr Zelensky is increasingly taking the war to Russia, with fresh strikes on Moscow yesterday.

Earlier this month, Ukrainian drones damaged government offices in the capital, and on Thursday Russia said it downed two drones headed for Moscow, a day after two others were destroyed on approach. Targets yesterday included the west of the capital near the Karamyshinsky hydroelectric power station.

The attacks led to the closure of airspace over Moscow’s Vnukovo international airport and Kaluga city, 125 miles to the south west.

At least two drones were reported, with one filmed buzzing the Russian capital. A drone was said to have been shot down by Russia. There were also reports of an explosion in Krasnogorsk in north-west Moscow.

[Daily Mail]

Should the Russian leadership so decide, Kiev and all other Ukrainian cities can be razed to the ground, either via nuclear attack or via conventional missiles, bombs etc. That would be a terrible thing, and bitter for both sides, but the Kiev regime is playing with fire.

After the 2020-2022 years of police-state “lockdowns”, stupid “anti-virus” measures such as the facemask nonsense and the ludicrous “Rule of Six”, and the NHS leaving millions to “die on the vine” without medical or dental services, not many will feel sorry for doctors who, even the junior ones, get paid more than most British people. Many of the doctors are also from affluent backgrounds, as is the one featured in that Daily Mail report.

You only have to look at the bitch in question (one Pamela Mattinson, of Bolton, Lancashire): dressed in exercise clothing even at court, and a grandmother at the age of 48 (though looking 70 years old)… a “chavscum” grandmother.

Oh…and of course (needless to add) she has “issues” with alcoholism and her “mental health”…drinking vodka in the middle of the day…

Look at her with (I presume) her equally “chavscum” daughter, smirking on the steps of the court.

Rhetorically, one might ask why her sentence was suspended, but these days, in England, you rarely get a prison sentence unless you murder someone, or publish something that the Jewish lobby does not like.

Britain now has millions of feral and useless persons of that sort. The country needs to be cleansed.

At least the kitten recovered and was rehomed, but the bitch who tried to kill it has not been suitably punished, not at all.

This is not simply a report about an abused kitten, nor even about one wicked woman and her probably-equally-unpleasant family, but also the context of a whole stratum of society that should be straightened out or eliminated.

That first tweeter, “Mariken”, is very typical of many naive “Jack Monroe” supporters. Even after the past year or more of gradually-intensifying exposure of the “grift” and outright fraud by “Jack Monroe” (one or two mild assessments were even published in the Guardian and Daily Mail), “Mariken” obviously has no idea at all. Amusingly, her Twitter profile says “Animal lover. Hate corruption and liars“, yet here she is lauding psycho liar “Jack Monroe”, who also killed at least one or two domestic animals by wilful neglect or worse.

You could hardly make it up— the silly woman thinks that “Jack Monroe” is “a great role model“! What part of constant lying, “grift”, theft, fraud, and the harassment of both critics and disenchanted donors (etc) does “Mariken” fail to understand? Not to mention alcohol and drug abuse, and the profligate spending of other people’s money (etc).

America, “land of freedom”…

Yes. Starmer stands for nothing, basically, except of course being even more of an Israel/Jewish-lobby puppet than (inter alia) David Cameron-Levita, Theresa May, Liz Truss, or “Boris” idiot. As previously said on the blog, Labour also now stands for absolutely nothing, unless it is the parody “we can run workhouses better” (etc).

As against that, the present “Conservative” government has taken “Boris”-idiot’s “omnishambles” to a whole new level. Even its own MPs are now loud in condemnation of its total incompetence. The Con MPs hoping to stay on as MPs, that is; many others are already in the lifeboats as the Con ship sinks in the opinion polls.

My assessment at present is that there is no enthusiasm for Labour (beyond the usual Twitter drones). Labour is up because the Con Party and its misgovernment are down, purely that.

On the above premises, while the Sunak government is obviously doomed, it may not be quite as doomed as presently appears. If the economy (the real economy, for the average Joe) improves a little, if inflation falls at the same time, i.e. over the next 6-9 months, and if that average Joe, and Josephine, feel apathetic or so-so rather than actually angry about the present government, then they may just stick with Con rather than defect to LibDem or Lab.

If enough of them do that, in marginal seats, then the prospect of a 1997-style Labour landslide (seats, not the popular vote) may just disappear like a mirage. We may then be back in hung Parliament territory.

No mystery. Just part of the implementation of the Coudenhove-Kalergi Plan: ferry blacks and browns etc from Africa and Asia to Europe, get the white Europeans to mix with them, thus over time creating a coffee-coloured population, then that population to be ruled over by Jews and part-Jews (eg Rothschilds, Theresa May, Boris Johnson, David Cameron-Levita, Zac Goldsmith etc, to name but a few).

Do not forget, also, the hundreds of thousands of births to non-whites within the UK over the past year alone.

The Kiev-regime police state.

Few are now volunteering for the Kiev-regime army. A death sentence if the recruit is sent (often with little training) to the front. The regime is using press-gangs to force men into the army. Maybe 350,000 have been killed or wounded in the past 17 months, mostly in the past year. Something like 750 a day, on average.

As for dissidents, arrested, mistreated, some even shot. “Ukraine” (Kiev-regime Ukraine) is not the free, principled place the propaganda portrays, but a corrupt, shambolic police-state where dissent is treason.

That latter tweeter is right. Parris, when not in London, does live in such a cottage (in Derbyshire). I see now from Wikipedia that he also has a place in Spain.

Parris himself has really never had a job as such, unless you include his unsuccessful two years as trainee diplomat and his likewise disastrous stint as correspondence secretary to Mrs. Thatcher: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Parris.

Having said that, Parris often writes uncomfortable truths, but I think not in this case, perhaps because he has never had the experience of doing a “real” job in the real world.

Likewise, as the tweeter below points out, PIP (the successor-benefit to the now-disappearing Disability Living Allowance or DLA) , is not an out-of-work benefit, and is thus disregarded from income for benefit purposes.

Parris thus follows in the footsteps of many scribblers, TV talking heads, and radio presenters, as well as MPs, who talk about State benefits and/or pensions out of ignorance, not knowing the most basic facts.

A one-time, and briefly, “rising star” of the Conservative Party.

Some people are just incredibly fortunate in life. I mean, look at Houchen: born 1986, was a student until about 2008 or 2009, when he became (I think, not sure) a solicitor. He may have worked as a solicitor for a couple of years (again, not sure about that), and his political career to date has consisted of being a local councillor for 5-6 years (2011-2017), then Mayor of Tees Valley (2017-2023 and continuing), and now (thanks to “Boris” Johnson) a member of the House of Lords.

Incidentally, when Houchen was elected in 2017, I tipped him on this blog as someone to watch, having heard him on the radio. I was right, but in more than one way…

So now, in personal financial terms, Houchen is riding high— £65,000+ as Mayor of Tees Valley, plus expenses —not a fortune but better than poke in eye with sharp stick— and £350 a day plus extra expenses whenever he turns up (even for half a hour) at the Lords, on any sitting day. So well over £100,000 a year, perhaps, plus generous expenses. Not bad for someone still only 36, and who has only just about (for ~2 years) done any real/non-political job (as a local solicitor in his native region).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Houchen,_Baron_Houchen_of_High_Leven; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Houchen,_Baron_Houchen_of_High_Leven#Controversies.

Whether there was actual corruption involved in the Redcar Steelworks affair (scandal), I do not know. Questions have certainly been raised. £45M has gone missing.

Import into the UK (or the rest of Europe) the various races and groups of Asia, Africa etc, and you import with them their political ethics (or lack of), their moneygrubbing, and the rest of it. Don’t be so surprised, and do not imagine that a few years at Winchester or Eton, or Oxford University, will make much difference.

I also think that new houses ought to have some kind of built in rainwater storage, to be used for gardens or, in extremis, washing and cooking. When I was working and living on a small Caribbean island about 24 years ago, my villa (like most of any size there) was built around a water tank. No mains water where I lived.

All water for bathroom and kitchen came from the tank, and it never ran out (despite rain being rare outside the hurricane season). Drinking water one had to buy. I usually bought filtered and cleaned (via ultraviolet light) Miami tapwater, costing (1999 prices) USD $5 or $6 per U.S. gallon. Sounds expensive (maybe $9 or $10 in 2023 money) but it would last me several days.

While of course prisoners have to be restrained from carrying out vigilante justice, equally naturally they are often disgusted at being forced to live around persons as evil as that. His crimes and, even more so, planned crimes, were appalling.

Justice is, as St. Thomas Aquinas noted, “immanent”— ingrained in human beings; inherent. Even the “lawless” have their own code of laws or rules, usually.

The blue areas are 50% of the areas that, according to US Secretary of State Anthony Blenkin, the “Ukrainian Army” has liberated!! The most advanced military equipment that was available to the member countries of the alliance was destroyed and lost in this blue area. The three by-elections of 20 July 2023

Uxbridge and South Ruislip

The result: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uxbridge_and_South_Ruislip_(UK_Parliament_constituency)#Elections_in_the_2020s.

As I predicted on the blog a couple of days ago, this was a “battle of the apathies”. Complete “Conservative” omnishambles meets Labour mediocrity (both on the national and constituency levels).

The successful Conservative candidate drew a veil over both the non-performance of the Rishi Sunak government and the egregiously poor behaviour (and capabilities) of ex-MP “Boris” Johnson; the candidate just kept hitting at the ridiculous Sadiq Khan ULEZ scheme [“Ultra Low Emission Zone”], and saying very little else about anything.

In a sense that concentration on ULEZ shows how meaningless the supposed “democracy” of the UK now is. The ULEZ idea and policy was first mooted by none other than “Boris”-idiot and the Conservative Party in London. Quite apart from that, the new Con Party MP, one Steve Tuckwell [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Tuckwell] will be able to exercise precisely zero influence over the ULEZ scheme and Sadiq Khan.

The Labour Party candidate, Danny Beales, was arguably not a good candidate in the particular constituency, an outer London suburb. Gay, a former councillor in inner-city Camden, and a graduate of the London School of Economics.

That said, the result was close— 495 votes decided it. Both the LibDem voters (526, fifth place), and/or the Green Party voters (893, third place), had they voted tactically, could have prevented the narrow Con Party victory. Neither Greens nor LibDems had a chance of winning, and both lost their deposits, along with the other 13 candidates, all of whom could be described as either “minor” or “joke” candidates.

The actor Laurence Fox, for Reclaim, did well, in a minor way, to come fourth, not far behind the Green. Still, this was really between Con Party (13,965 votes, 45.2%) and Labour (13,470, 43.6%). The other 15 parties and independents only scored 11.2% between them.

It does puzzle me why LibDem voters in particular did not all vote tactically. Some did, plainly, looking at previous election results where the LibDem vote was higher by far (peaking at 20% in 2010, though only 6.3% in 2019), but not enough.

Why did 526 LibDems bother to trot down to vote, knowing that their candidate had no chance? Even if they hated both Con and Lab, and so were unwilling to vote for either, why bother to vote? As someone said of golf, “a good walk spoiled“.

So a Conservative Party win, though scarcely a ringing endorsement.

Turnout was about 2/3 of that in 2019, and indeed the previous elections. I am assuming from that that many former Conservative voters, in what was since creation in 2010 a fairly safe Conservative seat (a new seat on these boundaries), just threw up their hands in disgust at both main System parties, could find no other home for their votes, and so “voted with their feet”— abstained.

Selby and Ainsty

The result: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selby_and_Ainsty_(UK_Parliament_constituency)#Elections_in_the_2020s.

The successful Labour candidate is 25, once again (like the Labour candidate at Uxbridge) gay (seems that it is almost compulsory now in the Labour Party), and has only worked for 18 months since leaving university. Interestingly, those 18 months were spent working at the Confederation of British Industry, a more usual place in which to find young Conservatives, surely?

Also, he spent some months in 2019 and 2020 working with Wes Streeting, the “centrist” (Labour Friends of Israel) MP. So it seems that Keir Mather will fit easily into the Keir Starmer Labour Party. Not much else is yet known about him: see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keir_Mather.

Why did Mather win what had previously been regarded as a safe Conservative seat? As at Uxbridge, the implication is surely obvious: former Conservative voters were appalled at both major System parties, and so preferred to stay home rather than vote Labour (or elsewhere).

Mather scored 46% of the overall vote, as against 34.3% scored by his Con Party opponent.

Since the creation of the seat in 2010, the Conservative Party had won easily all elections, scoring between 49.4% (2010) and 60.3% (2019). Labour, however, had scored only around 25% of the vote, except in 2017, under Corbyn, when the Labour Party candidate managed over 34%.

The key here, as with Uxbridge, lies in the turnout. The by-election turnout was only 44.8%, whereas in 2019 it was 71.7% (and in previous elections, not dissimilar).

The implication, again, as at Uxbridge, is that former Conservative Party voters, in a formerly safe Conservative area, simply decided not to vote.

There was obviously a degree of tactical voting at Selby; the LibDem vote went down from 8.6% to 3.3%; without tactical voting, the result would have been much closer but not, in my view, different.

Incidentally, the LibDems only managed sixth place, no doubt because many otherwise LibDems voted Labour. The third place went to the Greens, whose candidate was the only one of the minor candidates to save his deposit (5.1%).

I was interested to see that a “Yorkshire Party” candidate, one Mike Jordan, who failed to fill in his nomination papers properly and so was a blank space (not even “Independent”) on the ballot paper, yet managed to score 4.2%. Not bad in the circumstances, and maybe a sign that localism, or at least regionalism, may be resurgent as central government falters and fails.

The Selby contest had other things in common with that at Uxbridge— contempt for the former MP (at Selby, he had stepped down apparently in order to damage Sunak and his party, and after having been passed over for a peerage); the fact that both seats were 2010 creations on their present boundaries; and of course the fact that the public are both despairing and angry at the overall non-performance by Sunak and his Cabinet. Mass immigration, migration invasion, cost of living increases, inflation, crime, NHS defaults etc.

The result was that Labour won at Selby, and very nearly won at Uxbridge, only by default. There is no enthusiasm at all for the Labour Party and its non-policies (basically the same as the Conservative Party policies), but equally there is no enthusiasm (and no respect) for Sunak and his Cabinet of (mainly) non-Brits (Indians, a black or half-caste or two, the odd Jew). These were by-elections. The ruling party is inevitably on the back foot.

Starmer’s strategy seems to be not to rock the boat now that Labour is ahead in the opinion polls. It is hard for Sunak and Con Party to score a hit on Labour’s battleship simply because Labour policy now so closely mirrors that of the Con Party. Almost indistinguishable. If the Conservative Party attacks Labour policy, it is to a large extent criticizing its own policy. In a sense, brilliant… but also dispiriting and pointless.

Somerton and Frome

The result: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somerton_and_Frome_(UK_Parliament_constituency)#Elections_in_the_2020s.

The LibDem candidate, Sarah Dyke [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Dyke] won easily, as predicted. I blogged briefly about her a couple of days ago. Her vote-share of 56.4%, as against the Conservative candidate’s 26.2%, mirrors in reverse almost exactly the result at the 2019 General Election.

Third place went to the Greens, with a fairly sizeable vote (10.2%). Reform UK beat Labour and three minor candidates for fourth place, but still lost the deposit, with 3.4%.

In a mostly affluent and bucolic area of this sort, Labour has little chance, and its vote has dropped below 5% in the past, though it scored 17.2% in 2017 (under Corbyn) and 12.9% in 2019. It is clear that, realising that Labour had no chance, former Labour voters voted tactically at the by-election, and that Labour’s 2.6% vote reflected that.

Turnout was, as at the other by-elections yesterday, pathetic— 44.23%. That compares to 75.6% in 2019, and turnouts in previous election which only once dropped below 70%, and which once exceeded 82%.

The LibDems held Somerton and Frome until 2015, so were always going to have a chance in the seat, once the “Con Coalition” of 2010-2015 faded from immediate memory, though the damage from that was still evident in 2019, at which election the LibDems scored only 26.2% (exactly the same as the Conservative Party vote at yesterday’s by-election).

The conclusion is pretty clear: the Conservative voters of 2019 either stayed home yesterday, or switched to the LibDems, Former Labour voters switched to LibDem to hit out at the Sunak misgovernment.

As at the other two by-elections, the contempt many apparently felt for the ex-MP, Warburton, was certainly another important factor, though perhaps not the most important.

Overall conclusion as to the main System parties in the light of the by-elections

The LibDems only have a chance to gain seats in rural/affluent parts of southern or south-western England. I do not see them recovering in any big way elsewhere.

The Conservative Party government is toast, surely. It will have to fall back on its hard core, mostly fairly comfortably-off homeowners aged 70+.

Electoral Calculus is currently predicting only 100 Con seats at the expected 2024 General Election: see https://www.electoralcalculus.co.uk/homepage.html.

475 seats for Labour. That is “elected dictatorship”.

I just tried the “user-defined poll” at Electoral Calculus. My guesses resulted in only 61 seats for the Conservative Party.

What about Labour? Well, I detect no real enthusiasm for Labour, which means that there is every chance that the new MP for Selby may only be an MP for about a year, and will then have to find a less well-paid and less interesting (?) job.

More seriously, the only way that Indian money-juggler Rishi Sunak could claw back some electoral support would be to STOP the boats, CUT BACK the main (i.e. “legal”) mass immigration, DEPORT hundreds of thousands, RENATIONALIZE water, rail and possibly the energy utilities, and start to really bat for Britain.

Those 2019 Conservative Party voters might return to the Con fold, but only if they see some action; words are played-out.

Still, none of the three by-election seats are natural Labour territory.

Pretty hard, though, for an Indian whose Cabinet is mainly non-white, or Jewish, and who worked for the predatory Goldman Sachs bankers (and so is a globalist “libertarian” by instinct).

It seems to me a 50-50 chance that the Conservative Party MPs will ditch Sunak before the next general election, but if they do, who on Earth can they try to present to the public as a credible leader?

As for attacking Starmer, the only things that might work would be to use American-style personal attacks, and to focus on his complete mendacity, his broken promises, on his “taking the knee” to the “Black Lives Matter” thugs, and his being completely in the pocket of the Jew-Zionist/Israel lobby (the only thing is— so are the “Conservatives”…).

Conclusion, then— Labour will probably win in 2024 by default, but if some real movement on the above-designated issues were to happen, it might be a different story…

At least the sparrows will be eating.

There are really only two realistic possibilities: either she is Johnson’s secret daughter (one of them) or she was being screwed by him. It now turns out that she was only a kind of temp anyway, covering the job usually done by a recent mother. Maternity cover.

Britain is so screwed, it is hard to believe.

As for “Baroness” Chapman, she was an MP for 9 years (2010-2019), and then (having been voted out as MP) was elevated to the Lords on Starmer’s nomination, having previously done sweet FA by way of work in her life except a short time as the constituency manager for ghastly careerist MP Alan Milburn. So she can shut up. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jenny_Chapman.

She is the mother of children, and that (and presumably being a “home-maker”) is a very honourable estate, but it is not the “real life experience” of work in the outer world, as per that clip.

As for Johnny Mercer MP, I have found him a big disappointment as MP, but I think that he can claim a great deal more “life experience” than “Baroness” Chapman, let alone that epicene little creature who is now the MP for Selby and Ainsty.

Many people on Twitter are incredibly ignorant and at the same time very dogmatic. I just saw a tweet saying that the Selby creature is “2-3 years older than Margaret Roberts [i.e. Margaret Thatcher] when she became an MP...”.

In fact, wrong, and on two counts. First, Margaret Roberts was born in 1925, and became an MP in 1959, shortly before her 34th birthday. She had married in 1951, so fought her first successful first election as Margaret Thatcher and not Margaret Roberts as claimed.

See also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_Thatcher.

Well, there it is. Effete, epicene little “Labour MP” is going to support Starmer, Rachel Reeves etc in continuing the policy (policies?) laid down by the Con Coalition of David Cameron-Levita, Theresa May, “Boris”-idiot, Liz Truss, and now the Indian money-juggler, Sunak.

Anyone who thinks that Starmer-Labour will be in any way an improvement on the “Conservative” omnishambles of a Government is sadly mistaken; in fact, deluded.

Actually, listening to Keir Mather there, I think that “Lord Charles” would have sounded more credible.

[Lord Charles, with Ray Alan]

To be honest, my first thought on seeing and hearing Keir Mather is that he seemed to be in need of a good kick.

That lunatic, Ellwood, will not be happy until this country is a heap of blackened, radioactive ash. Incidentally, he is a Reserve colonel of the 77th Brigade psychological warfare unit.

Ellwood himself is so brave that he could not even admit to his neighbours that he had run over their cat while driving too fast and carelessly. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11007353/Village-fury-Tory-MP-Tobias-Ellwood-runs-1-000-cat-drives-away.html.

Funny, really. The remnants of the British Army apparently gearing up for a war with Russia; meanwhile, the UK is being invaded (“legally” or “illegally”) by about a million migrant-invaders every year. Soon there will be nothing much (for whatever is left of the Army, Royal Navy, and RAF) to defend…

The Jew Zelensky knows that his time is limited in terms of bringing NATO directly into war with Russia. The Western populations are tiring of “Ukraine” as a trendy cause, and Western governments are tiring of sending almost endless amounts of money, arms, and ammunition to the Kiev regime, especially now that the much-trumpeted counter-offensive has almost if not actually stalled.

Zelensky and his corrupt and brutal cabal have only one real chance— to bring NATO into the war directly on the “Ukrainian” (Kiev regime) side. That therefore is their aim. Method? Perhaps to attack the Zaporozhye nuclear plant, blame that on Russia, and hope that NATO then either declares war on Russia (unlikely) or starts to fight without declaration of war (more likely).

We could well be looking at either full-scale nuclear war not far down the line, or at least full-scale conventional war in Europe alone, which might or might not later trigger a strategic nuclear exchange involving the USA.

Americans should think carefully before firing on Russia, or helping Western European states to do so. The USA may have several times the nuclear-destructive power of Russia overall, but if the top 50 cities of the USA were hit and/or destroyed by nuclear missiles, that means the end of American power (and society) for a century or more.

Yes, the USA might destroy as many or more Russian cities, but the USA would still be a chaotic mess of destroyed cities, violent social disorder, and tens of millions —perhaps hundreds of millions— of dead and dying. Think very very carefully before bringing such consequences on yourselves and others.

Thought

You carry in your blood the holy inheritance of your
fathers and forefathers. You do not know those who
have vanished in endless ranks into the darkness of the
past. But they all live in you and walk in your blood upon
the earth that consumed them in battle and toil and in
which their bodies have long decayed.

Your blood is therefore something holy. In it your parents gave you not only a body, but your nature. To deny your blood is to deny yourself. No one can
change it. But each decides to grow the good that one has
inherited and suppress the bad. Each is also given will
and courage.

You do not have only the right, but also the duty to pass
your blood on to your children, for you are a member of
the chain of generations that reaches from the past into
eternity, and this link of the chain that you represent
must do its part so that the chain is never broken.

But if your blood has traits that will make your children
unhappy and burdens to the state, then you have the
heroic duty to be the last. The blood is the carrier of life. You carry in it the secret of creation itself. Your blood is holy, for in it God’s will
lives.”

I have blogged for the past year or more that the best idea is for Russia to take the areas of Ukraine east of the Dnieper, and for some Ukrainian successor to the Zelensky regime to control the larger area west of the Dnieper, and centred on Lvov. That would leave aside the Kiev area (which is on both sides of the Dnieper), Crimea, and the Black Sea littoral centred on Odessa.

Crimea was always Russian, with a mainly (now almost entirely) Russian population. Kiev should probably have some kind of special status, and Odessa either the same or a degree of autonomy, with Russia controlling the Black Sea coast to a depth of about 50-100 miles.

“Boris” Johnson and the Lebedev family

Saw a recording of a documentary (I think Channel 4) about “Boris”-idiot and the Lebedev father and son (with the old KGB, its successor-agencies, and British SIS and MI5, as spear-carriers).

The whole thing is rather odd, and there are certainly questions to be answered, but I cannot see Johnson as a Russian agent, not as such. For one thing, he is at root completely unideological; any such connection would be money-based or based upon getting help to push “Boris” upward (he was Foreign Secretary at the time he visited one of the Italian castles owned by the Lebedevs).

At the time, as now, the Lebedevs controlled msm outlets such as the Independent and Evening Standard.

My tentative conclusion at the end was that, possibly/probably what happened was that the younger Lebedev was offered a peerage for straight cash to “Boris”, paid somewhere offshore, protected by layers of (perhaps) offshore trusts and companies, such as Panamanian trusts and/or numbered bank accounts. A personal deal, nothing to do with the old KGB, or its SVR successor, though the details would no doubt be of interest to the latter, and to the Kremlin.

I concede that I have no evidence at all with which to back the above speculation. Pure speculation and hunch, backed only by the facts as known. Why did Johnson later nominate Lebedev junior for a peerage? Against Security Service and other advice, too.

Of course, at the time Johnson visited the Lebedevs in Italy, he was Foreign Secretary, not Prime Minister, so could not have nominated anyone for a peerage, but his unmerited likely elevation to No.10 was a good each-way bet at the time, and anyway no money need to have been paid unless and until.

If it happened, how much money? Name any figure north of £10M. £20M is good, £100M even better.

“Boris’s” pension.

Nuclear war visualization

I post that despite it having been posted first by a Kiev-regime supporter, because we should take even the possibility seriously, and stop stoking the fires of the war. Take away Zelensky’s ricebowl— stop sending arms and ammunition, and money, to the Kiev regime.

Those with real power and influence in the West must stop the slide to nuclear war, before it is too late.

Interesting, but only a form of real social nationalism can save Britain now.

When the time comes, measures will have to be taken. Let’s leave it there, for now.

“Panicdemic”/scamdemic”…

Such frauds have become the biggest rip-offs since the old “reparations” scam taking money from Germany (etc) and giving it to Israel and/or the Jewish diaspora.

Debt-laden utility giant Thames Water is in a desperate race to secure £1billion and  fend off its collapse, amid reports it might have to be taken over by the taxpayer.

The firm, which serves 15 million people and is Britain’s biggest water supplier, is a staggering £14 billion in debt and is reportedly on the ‘brink of collapse’.

On Tuesday, the firm’s chief executive Sarah Bentley dramatically stepped down from her top job.

during her stint in charge, Thames Water has lurched from one disaster to the next – which saw the firm also being criticised for how much its top team are paid.

Mrs Bentley was reportedly paid £2million in 2022 – more than 10 times the salary of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who earns £164,951 a year.

In May, the University of Kent-educated mother-of-five joined other water firm bosses in promising to give up her 2022-23 bonus amid fierce criticism of the sector.

I first visited Moscow in the early summer, I think May or June, of 1993. The country and even Moscow was just about functioning. On its knees. I was (nominally) “invited” (you had to be “invited” officially in Soviet days to be granted an individual visa, a practice still notionally followed in 1993) by the Academy of Sciences on Leninsky Prospekt. I stayed in the Hotel Ukraina on or by Kutuzovsky Prospekt.

…as with “Boris” Johnson…

At first, when the news broke about “Boris” Johnson, the then Prime Minister, being in intensive care from “Covid”, I was probably 60% “it’s real news” and 40% “it’s fake news”. Now? About 70% in favour of it having been “fake news”, and it having been part of the whole “scamdemic” propaganda effort.

If Wagner Group are “terrorists”, then how much more are the American forces, after all the millions they have killed worldwide since 1941?

[devastated Berlin, 1945]

Perhaps. In days of yore, Stalin would have shot the heads of the Russian Army and GRU soon after the pathetic failed takeover of the Ukraine in 2022.

Just an Indian money-juggler.

Interesting to see the generally downward trend over 30+ years. Will Sunak go as low as Liz Truss? We shall see.

Don’t tell me that Woollyhead Trussbanger is trying a comeback?!

The same or similar is true of the UK.

I do not know, but maybe, with much of the Zelensky-regime army now either dead or occupied in the southeast of Ukraine, there is a plan to attack from Belarus, but Kiev must now be well-defended in depth. Any approach to the suburbs of Kiev would meet with stiff resistance, then would require a reduction of the urban and suburban battlefield space by artillery, aircraft, and missiles before a mass infantry incursion, and would be horrendously bloody, bearing in mind the number of civilians in Kiev.

A battle for Kiev would be on the level of [the WW2 battle for] Stalingrad, or the recent Bakhmut carnage, in ferocity, and on a much larger scale even than Stalingrad.

Kiev is the 7th-most populous city in Europe, or 6th if Istanbul is excluded: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_European_cities_by_population_within_city_limits. Istanbul, Moscow, London, St. Petersburg, Berlin, Madrid, Kiev. Of those 7 cities, 3 are of course in the former Soviet Union.

Having said the above, the Wagner Group forces seem to have been sidelined, with many sworn into the ordinary Russian Army. If PMC Wagner is “decapitated”, leaderless, and not in Belarus, how could it attack from there?

It looks more like a bloodless dispersal of Wagner Group assets.

The truth may be out there, but I think that we do not know it yet.

In any case, why would it have been “justified” in the early 1930s? The KPD (German Communist Party) of the time was under Stalin’s control (via the Comintern) and, in the Soviet Union, mass slaughter was already happening in various ways. The NSDAP was a necessary Abwehr (“parrying”) to that Stalinist expansionism. Once in power, the NSDAP lifted Germany and its people out of degradation, and made Germany the most prosperous nation in Europe.

People, some people, should learn some real history…

Good grief. I knew that it was expensive but thought maybe £100-£200.

I suppose that age demographics come into it. I do not know what is the age typical of a Glastonbury audience, but not that young, I am guessing. Like owning a top-range motorbike, or a Morgan car, it is (?) the prerogative of the middle-aged and even elderly, these days.

Not that I have been there. At least, I have been to the town of Glastonbury a number of times (and have even stayed overnight a couple of times), but of course not to the music festival.

I remember when the Reading Festival was first held there, which I think was either 1970 or 1971. 1971, I think. If so, I was not quite 15. I remember driving with my mother, the day before it started, down the lane through the riverside meadows where it takes place, mainly to see the “hippies” who were already arriving. A human safari park, if you like. Our family lived on the other side of the river, in the suburb of Caversham Heights.

In those days, “pop festivals” were for the young (16-25, maybe 16-30). Of course, the general population has aged, and I see now that tickets for the Reading Festival cost hundreds of pounds.

An outright fraud. Anyone who supports her or sends her money is just a total mug.

Both USA and EU are under one overall control. NWO/ZOG.

However, beyond the obvious hypocrisy, breaking of stupid “rules” etc, there is something more important, the fact that the whole structure of instant “laws”, “rules” etc was part of a massive scam on the public, both in the UK and across much of the world. “Covid” was never the modern Black Death it was claimed (and weaponized) to be. Scamdemic. Panicdemic.

It is clear when you look at those stupid and drunken young faces in the video that they have no fear of the so-called “deadly virus”. No fear at all. Why? Because they knew —100%— that there was nothing to fear.

The forces and puppets of Evil now know that a majority of the public can be easily controlled via a combination of fear, fear propaganda, social pressure, and repressive laws and “rules” brought in at will by whoever is notionally in power (in fact, political puppets and pygmies such as “Boris” Johnson, little Matt Hancock etc).

“Covid” (as an existential threat to large populations) was the biggest hoax since the “gas chambers” part of the whole WW2 “holocaust” narrative (farrago) was invented in the decades after WW2.

I don’t care about Shaun Bailey having been at a secret party during the stupid “lockdown” of the UK. I do care that a West Indian fake and freeloader is being elevated to the House of Lords when he is not only a freeloader but also (in effect) embezzler of monies from the charity he himself set up. The police investigated him, but in the end the CPS decided not to prosecute him. He may, they thought, only have been profligate and/or negligent, rather than an outright thief. Just the sort of person to be in the House of Lords, making law for the British public…oh, no, wait…

Oh, and a failed electoral candidate, rejected by the voters both as would-be MP and would-be Mayor of London.

While it is amusing to see that rubbish going up in flames, this is not serious political action. It is akin to the occasions when, for example, Israeli flags are burned, stepped upon etc by various factions or individuals, or when idiots desecrate Jewish graves. What on Earth is the point?

I do not have a lot of time for “gesture politics”.

Either she is related in some way to Johnson, or he was fucking her. No other obvious reason for someone with only a few years experience of anything (and that mostly as a “gopher” or “girl Friday” anyway) to be elevated to the Lords.

Having said that, the whole Resignation Honours List is one big finger put up by Johnson to both public and Parliament, so who knows?

The first government to abandon the “Triple Lock” will be abandoned, by the voters, those over 60 anyway, and they are now the ones that matter most.

As for William Hague, I remain disappointed that no-one ever gave him a good kicking.

That, on the other hand, might be a vote-winner in crucial, formerly Labour, constituencies, if the voters believe that it will be implemented.

Why have Essex Police not properly investigated this blatant fraudster?

Of course “Jack Monroe” has not “given” the poor scammed lady’s money to anyone, unless to the local drug dealer or off-licence, or maybe some online furniture store or Tiffany jewellery outlet.

As remarked before, under other circumstances “Jack Monroe” might have become a career criminal of a more usual kind, or (in my opinion) even something like a serial killer, looking at her fairly obvious psychopathic tendencies.

As it is, she has cheated the elderly, poor and disabled, and is now defended only by the very very silly and unthinking, the unfocussedly-naive, Guardian-reading biens-pensants, crazed elderly lesbians and “trans”-persons, and “whiteknighting” men of 60+, often with mental or alcohol “issues”. Even the minor “celebrities”, such as “consumer rights” waste of space, Alice Beer, are now giving her the cold shoulder.

The 13-year-old pupil said she was made to stay after the class at Rye College in East Sussex on ‘life education’ by the teacher, who can be heard in a secret recording calling her view that gender is binary ‘really despicable’ and ‘very sad’.

In the three-and-half-minute recording, the angry teacher is heard speaking to two girls and says they would report the children to a senior colleague, and they needed a ‘proper educational conversation about equality, diversity and inclusion’.

The recording begins with the teacher asking one of the pupils: ‘How dare you? You just really upset someone, saying things like [you] should be in an asylum.’

One of the girls responds: ‘I didn’t say that, I just said if they want to identify as a cow or something, then they are genuinely unwell, and they’re crazy.

‘You were questioning their identity,’ the teacher replies. ‘Where did you get this idea from that there’s only two genders?’

‘I just said my opinion,’ the pupil replies. ‘If I respect their opinion, can’t they respect mine?’

We shall soon be in a world in which a man may be howled down for saying that two and two make four, in which people will persecute the heresy of calling a triangle a three-sided figure, and hang a man for maddening a mob with the news that grass is green.

That might and probably would spark a Third World War.

More likely, China would sit back and wait until NATO states and Russia were both badly damaged or even (as major powers) wiped out. China would then be the major, and perhaps only really big power in the world.

Even without that happening, one might wonder what would happen after a nuclear war between the USA/NATO and Russia. Leaving aside the contamination of air, water, and earth, what of the strategic situation? Large areas of the world would either be uninvolved or substantially uninvolved: Australasia, South and Central America, Africa, much of the Pacific region. India. Maybe China, again.

That then leads us to consider what the world would look like after the (radioactive) dust settles. No post-1945 American hegemony. No pre-1914 European hegemony. No Russian hegemony. Everyone looks to China, of course, but even that is by no means certain. Without American and European markets for its manufactured goods, the Chinese economy would stumble at best, fall to pieces at worst.

Yes, China would, at first, still have its vast armies and other forces, and nuclear weapons of its own, but for how long would its military strength endure, once its economy is destroyed?

Diary Blog, 16 June 2023, with more thoughts about the “Jack Monroe” “grift” and/or fraud(s) etc

Morning music

“Jack Monroe” latest

I am not a doctor but, in my layman’s view at least, “Jack Monroe” is a type of psychopath not unknown in psychiatric literature: relentless, and likely to “double down” on her lies even after they have been comprehensively exposed as lies.

The “sue Lee Anderson and Martin Daubney” “grift” has been typical. She crowdfunded to sue them (ostensibly). She never in fact had a case, because their (I agree) defamatory (as innuendo) statements saying that “Jack Monroe” “lived off the backs of the poor” etc were, in a word, true. They were true statements (though possibly simply “mere insult”, and not actionable). Anderson and Daubney therefore had a complete defence of “truth”, even leaving aside fair comment, honest opinion etc, and the “mere insult” point. Also, had the matter gone to trial, “Jack Monroe” would have been required to disclose at least the outline of her financial affairs. She could never allow that.

It is noteworthy that the Jew lawyer, Mark Lewis, who had conduct of the libel case brought by “Jack Monroe” against Katie Hopkins years ago (a case impossible to lose; Ms. Hopkins was in the wrong, was possibly badly advised, and should have eaten crow a bit, and settled at an early stage), has in the past year not even emerged from his kennel re. “Jack Monroe”.

Lewis, now resident mainly in Israel, does not take on cases certain to fail (because he would then make no money).

It always looked like “Jack Monroe” had simply kept the “sue Lee Anderson” monies, and I shall believe that (as with her previous scams) that is exactly what happened in this case, unless and until I see at least plausible proof to the contrary.

“Jack Monroe” now simply “doubles down” and says “I could have won against Lee Anderson and Martin Daubney, but chose not to“! Stunning mendacity. The sad thing is that a great many of the mug followers of “Jack Monroe” will actually believe it.

Meanwhile, “Jack Monroe” is also claiming that her house on the South Essex coast has been besieged by large numbers of reporters and members of the public. Completely untrue, as far as I know.

That in turn has excited many of her mentally-unstable supporters, as with “David Salt (backing all strikes)” here below:

[6 July 2023 update: the David Salt tweeter has changed the name]

[28 October 2024 update: “”Oliver McGurn/@davidsalt2001” may have deleted his tweet, which read “I’d love to meet some of these people Jack, I’m not a violent person but I make an impact! Sending you hugs xx.” What a total idiot— presumably what is now, apparently, termed a “neckbeard”…].

Oddly enough, my blog received a semi-threatening comment (not published, and the sender blocked, of course) recently by a troll calling itself “No Name” and referencing my comments about “Jack Monroe” appearing on BBC Question Time (don’t they vet guests at all?) . I rather suspect that “No Name” was “Jack Monroe”. If not, one of her crazed supporters. Still, I am fair-minded, and it may have been just another mentally-disturbed Jew-Zionist.

I read, late last year, that a black woman in Bristol was awaiting Crown Court trial for crowdfunding for legal costs and then keeping the money for her own personal use. How is this different?

Then of course there is a long list of other “Jack Monroe” frauds, scams, and lies. Too many to repeat here.

[Update, 2 December 2023: well, the said black woman has been imprisoned for fraud but it seems that “Jack Monroe” grifts on regardless and with impunity, despite —as far as I can see— having done the same or similar: see https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-67272603, and https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/oct/31/edward-colston-statue-protest-bristol-xahra-saleem-fundraiser:

A key organiser of the protest in Bristol during which a statue of the slave trader Edward Colston was toppled and dumped in the city’s harbour has been jailed for two and a half years for fraud.

Xahra Saleem, 23, admitted using more than £30,000 that was supposed to go to a charity for disadvantaged youngsters in the city to fund her lifestyle, including spending almost £6,000 on Uber rides.

…it took place soon after she had moved to Bristol and was living away from her family for the first time. At the time she had been taking drugs and drinking to excess. She also had mental health issues. He said there was little or no planning in what she did and she spent the money foolishly.

Over a 15-month period, she spent the funds on rent, an iPhone, iMac, purchases on Amazon, hair and beauty appointments, takeaways and Uber rides.

She made a string of false excuses about why she was not handing the money over to the charity – including that Black Lives Matters had advised her not to – but in the summer of 2021 admitted the money had gone.

[The Guardian]

How is that different from what “Jack Monroe” has done?]

My own impression, reading her tweets, and having seen her on TV once or twice, is that “Jack Monroe” is a dangerous woman, and one who, in other circumstances, might have been a more conventional type of criminal, or even worse.

Ha. Very true. I have never read or heard “Jack Monroe” say anything at all interesting, as far as I can recall. Maybe that is because, for her, everything revolves around her, and around her basically very limited world.

As far as I know, “Jack Monroe” rarely if ever travels beyond the UK or nearby countries such as the Netherlands, and exhibits no interest in a wider world of culture, politics, or the environment. She lives in a little —mainly London/Essex— bubble, and does not even drive a car. Maybe just as well, in view of her (supposedly past) problems with alcohol and (it is sometimes alleged) drugs.

As far as I can see, she has a very low level of education and culture, though admittedly that is concealed to some extent by a superficial glibness.

I wonder how she would score on the psychopathy test scale? My guess— off the scale.

“Grifter” and fraudster “Jack Monroe” still making empty threats, this time against Lee Anderson (again).

Sadly naive of that NHS mental health nurse, one “M Holland”.

[Update, 2 December 2023: the M. Holland tweet is now deleted or hidden].

The fact is that some people have mentally “bought into” “Jack Monroe” the way others have bought into “Covid”, the facemask nonsense, Greta Nut, Extinction Rebellion etc. Facts simply irritate them.

Ha ha! Hard to believe that there are mugs taking that sort of “Jack Monroe” nonsense as if it is really clever, as in “let’s keep our weekly shopping bill below £20 by simply…using up what we already have in the kitchen“!… It’s like something from a TV sitcom about gormless students or something.

Even harder to believe that (on paper) quite a few “Jack Monroe” supporters have (whatever they may now be worth) “degrees”, and professional qualifications in a few cases. As noted previously, few are under 50, few if any are from ethnic minorities (who presumably would never eat “Jack Monroe” swill-food), and few if any are, in a word, poor…

The mentality of “Jack Monroe” supporters is hard to fathom. “Blockheads” hardly covers it.

There is more to this than “Tories” supporting their own. “Boris” Johnson was an almost ideal NWO/ZOG candidate for Prime Minister— part-Jew, part-Muslim origins, born in New York City, brought up in the USA, Belgium etc before taking on “Brit” camouflage via Eton and Oxford.

Pro-mass-immigration. Obsessed with making money. Even more importantly, with not the slightest loyalty to anyone or anything, let alone Britain and its people, and willing to do anything for fame, money and (very much third in line) power. If Ukraine joins NATO, we are but a step from the next great European war.

The “separation of powers” US Constitution has led, ironically, to the politicization of everything, including the Federal court system headed by the Supreme Court of the United States.

Quis custodiet custodes ipsos?

https://www.walesonline.co.uk/lifestyle/showbiz/jack-monroe-says-absolute-hell-27134514

The above newspaper report from an outlet called Wales Online has been the only newspaper, online or offline, to have reported today on “Jack Monroe”. It has done no investigation and simply reports what “Jack Monroe” has chosen to tell it. As journalism, on the lowest possible level of quality beyond actually inventing a story.

The Wales Online “report” mentions that “Jack, who is from Southend-on-Sea, was met with numerous messages of support” on Twitter (and quotes from three tweets) but ignores the dozens if not hundreds of tweets which, today alone, have been critical of “Jack Monroe” and her years of “grifting” and fraud.

Very poor. Written by one Sam Cook, who is described as follows: “Sam is our TV writer and showbiz journalist. Prior to working at WalesOnline, he was previously a video journalist and presenter at Local TV. Over the course of his career, Sam has interviewed several big stars including Michael Sheen, Jodie Whittaker and David Walliams. He is a member of the RTS Cymru Wales committee and currently hosts the podcast, In the Spotlight, for WalesOnline.

Rock-bottom-level scribbling.

Is “Wales Online TV reporter Sam Cook” somehow acquainted with “Jack Monroe”, apart from this “interview” (if I dignify it with such a term)?

Actually, rereading his piece, it seems to be not even just a one-sided and very poor interview, but simply a retelling of “Jack Monroe’s” own tweets, lifted straight from Twitter and then presented, superficially, as if the scribbler has had an interview with her.

Having said that, I am more interested in the fact that, despite “Jack Monroe” claiming that reporters from “Fleet Street” were ringing her doorbell (in Essex) and looking in the windows, i.e. more or less besieging her house, to the extent that she and her son (who may not even live with her anyway; that seems to be disputed) have had to flee elsewhere, not one major news outlet has reported on “Jack Monroe” today. Not one. Not even the Press pack tabloids such as the Daily Mail or Sun.

More “Jack Monroe” lies…

More tweets seen

The “Laurie Leebody” tweeter is not atypical of Twitter virtue-signallers, who express opinions despite knowing nothing of the subject-matter.

The weird thing about the whole Lee Anderson/Jack Monroe situation from the point of view of the Twitterati reaction is that hundreds of tweeters expressed disgust at “30p Lee’s” claim that he could make some kind of meal for 30p, yet the same idiotic Twitter-types fawn over “Jack Monroe” and her claim to be able to undercut Lee Anderson and make something for as little as 11p! (both claims seem, to me, to be from Alice in Wonderland home economics).

11p? That’s one or two slices of decent bread (no butter), or a tenth (?) of a packet of cheap pasta (disregarding the cost of cooking it).

Frankly, I doubt whether anything approaching a decent feed can be had for less than, say, 50p, and that would be something like a tin of cheap sardines on toast. Not too bad, though, I suppose.

Tweeter “Liz Ward” is typical of a certain Twitter type. See how she jumps into an existing conversation, insults someone who has noted the lies and scams of “Jack Monroe”, then threatens —stupidly— to “report” tweeter “Reiltin” for “harassment“. A very stupid woman, evidently. Look at her Twitter heading: pro-trade unions (which are a dead letter now), pro-“Black Lives Matter” (i.e. socio-politically idiotic) and pro-NHS (as I am, in principle, but it is not working as presently constituted).

Seems that tweeter “Reiltin” thought that “Liz Ward” is just another “Jack Monroe” “sock account”. Maybe; she has hundreds.

“Jack Monroe” is quite obviously now very frightened of having to undergo cross-examination in court, whether by Counsel, a solicitor, or a judge (a judge has the right to ask questions of any witness, though most judges most of the time exercise that right sparingly). “Jack Monroe” is in that respect rather like some of the Jew-Zionists who have targeted me in the past (and continue to do so). They are afraid to testify against me because afraid of what will come out about them.

One “Ian Cameron”, another “Jack Monroe” “white knight”…

I myself have never seen proof of any “death threats” to “Jack Monroe”. That’s just another key on her scam-piano, along with “mental health”, “other health problems”, “her child” (apparently usually lives elsewhere anyway), “activism” (occasional anti-“Tory” tweets), fake/invented “Vimes Boots Index”, “costs of moving house” etc.

You can see how easy it is for people such as “Ian Cameron” to be fooled, totally played, yet that fellow probably considers himself educated, intelligent etc. Look how poor are his reasoning skills.

Thus it is that, as of today, 412 utter mugs are still signed up to Patreon, each sending “Jack Monroe” between £3.50 and £44 a month…a “nice little earner”, in the argot of South Essex.

Short and sweet…and convincing.

Why is “Jack Monroe” not being interviewed by Essex Police about her fraudulent activities? Are they too busy seizing “racist” teddy bears?

As I said. See above.

Statement

As regular readers will know, I am now, once again, the target of a malicious and politically-motivated attack, this time a prosecution, instigated by the so-called “Campaign Against Antisemitism”, a very small but well-funded group of fanatical Zionist Jews.

I made a statement about this previously; see https://ianrobertmillard.org/2023/05/29/diary-blog-29-may-2023/.

I now see that there have been a couple of tweets inaccurately stating that I am to be tried this month. Not so. Any trial (if one is actually held at all) will be held in November or December 2023, or possibly even in 2024. In the interim period, there will be at least one brief and purely procedural hearing.

A nuisance, of course, but since the latest malicious attempt was publicized (by the “CAA” goblins themselves, on Twitter and on their website), there has been an increase in the readership of this blog. Silver lining?

Nadine Dorries and the Mid-Bedfordshire constituency

I was considering the Nadine Dorries situation.

At present, Nadine Dorries remains MP for the constituency of Mid-Bedfordshire. She most recently, in 2019, was re-elected with nearly 60% of the vote, and had previously usually achieved over 50%: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mid_Bedfordshire_(UK_Parliament_constituency)#Elections_in_the_2010s.

A safe Conservative Party seat, which she has represented since 2005, and which has been good to her— good salary, hugely-inflated expenses, time out to appear on I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here for a very large fee, and to write about a dozen cheap novels.

She was able to employ at least two of her three daughters on very inflated salaries (via MP expenses) and has been investigated several times by the police. On at least one occasion, the file was passed to the Crown Prosecution Service for consideration for prosecution. However, she has wriggled out of trouble every time.

Now, having announced her immediate resignation [see https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-65910896], Nadine Dorries has not in fact done what is necessary, i.e. to apply, notionally, for “an office of profit under the Crown“, usually either “Steward of the Chiltern Hundreds” or “Bailiff of the Manor of Northstead”.

The delay is plainly because Nadine Dorries was, or so she claims, offered a peerage by the former Prime Minister, Johnson, which offer is now worthless. That she was offered a peerage was apparently the case; her nomination for a peerage was one of those deleted from the list, supposedly by decision of Rishi Sunak.

It seems clear to me that Nadine Dorries announced her “resignation” because she was sure of getting a well-paid sinecure as a “baroness” in the Lords— ~£350 a day without any need even to pretend to do anything for it, plus well-subsidized and palatial surroundings in which to meet people, network etc.

In theory, Nadine Dorries could hang on as MP until the next General Election, getting the salary, the expenses etc, while doing nothing. Perhaps she will.

Nadine Dorries was only too happy to jettison the loyal —and possibly stupid— voters of Mid-Bedfordshire. Unsurprising. As soon as her then-husband and father of her children developed multiple sclerosis, she (in effect) abandoned him, after 23 years of marriage: see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadine_Dorries#Personal_life.

I was just comparing Nadine Dorries [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadine_Dorries] with the MP, Stephen Hastings, who held the seat from 1960 to 1983: see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Hastings.

Hastings’ biography includes Sandhurst, and WW2 action with the Scots Guards, the early SAS, and the shambolic but certainly sometimes courageous SOE, later followed by 12 years with SIS/MI6.

Naturally, Hastings was born with a silver spoon compared to Nadine Dorries. No argument. Eton, Sandhurst, the expectation and inheritance of several large, or arguably even great estates. Financially, and in terms of useful connections, he had it far easier than Nadine Dorries, born into relative poverty in Liverpool.

All the same, which of the two really would be better as MP?

In fact, that sort of decline in standards has happened across the board since about 1989. Compare Jo Grimond, for example, with Jo Swinson. Both Liberal/LibDem leaders, but what a contrast! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jo_Grimond; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jo_Swinson.

Again, one was born into affluence, indeed into riches, and never had to struggle financially, but the point is which of the two was the more fitted to be an MP and political leader.

Incidentally, I noticed that Stephen Hastings wrote an autobiography, Drums of Memory. I have just ordered a used copy, and for the knockdown price of £1.75 plus a couple of pounds postage. Pretty good value for a hardback book in apparently almost new condition. Will look forward to reading that, assuming it actually arrives (my last purchase, Anna Karenina in Russian, has been refunded by Amazon because of some problem with distribution).

Nadine Dorries is just one symptom of a completely decadent and corrupt political system in the UK.

Money thrown at the feet of the Kiev regime. Meanwhile, in Britain, people cannot get medical treatment or decent housing, and the roads are falling to pieces.

The head of the Army is considering scrapping centuries-old ranks such as Rifleman and Guardsman because they are masculine.

In an attempt to make regiments more inclusive, General Sir Patrick Sanders is poised to break hundreds of years of battlefield tradition.

Historic titles used by world-renowned Guards regiments and even his own regiment, the Rifles, could be ditched in favour of gender-neutral ranks.

If “Jack Monroe” did that, she might trigger an avalanche of similar claims, together with even more negative publicity.

Her pseudo-celebrity supporters are ebbing away. Weak waste of space Alice Beer is the latest. Jay Rayner cut “Jack Monroe” loose nearly a year ago now, and Nigella Lawson later followed suit.

None will denounce her, but will just show her the cold shoulder.

I suppose that “Jack Monroe” will try to leverage whatever she can to stay in the public eye to some extent, as with her unexplained appearance on BBC Question Time recently, and she needs that public exposure, if only to keep onside the hard core of donor-mugs who are each sending her between £3.50 and £44 a month via Patreon— 411 utter mugs as of today.

God. What a loonie. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pauline_O%27Reilly.

Britain 2023, where Max Hastings looks like the most principled journalist imaginable…a measure of either how Hastings has grown since he covered the Vietnam War in the late 1960s, or of how far British public life has slid into the mire in more recent decades.

If mortgage rates continue to rise, there will be a rather British non-violent political upheaval. There must be millions of people who do not really “own their own home” as they think they do, because they have a mortgage on the property.

I have just seen a statistic which claims that nearly 28% of the UK population are homeowners without a mortgage or loan against the property, while nearly 38% are “homeowners” but with a mortgage or other loan against the property (I presume that the remaining ~34% are either renters or are too young to take title to real property).

38%. That means, in theory, 38% of the voters, too.

People may not like or trust the Labour Party or the LibDems (or others), but the Conservative Party has been in power since 2010. If mortgage rates continue to rise, there will be a backlash against the Conservative Party not seen even in 1997.

Another, and this time not very inventive “Jack Monroe” lie, that reporters and stray peasants are besieging her home. She must have lifted that from the life of van Gogh.

“Jack Monroe” is so patently fake that it defies belief, and a huge number of stupid mugs still fall for her nonsense.

Venn diagram of “Jack Monroe” mug-supporters: 1. comfortably-off Guardian-reading virtue-signalling naifs (mostly aged 55+); 2. the mentally-unwell; 3. the LGBTQXYZ crowd on Twitter.

“Jack Monroe” works on the —often-true— assumption that the public cannot check up on the veracity of her stories (mostly a pack of lies) and that most “journalists” (scribblers) are too lazy to check.

At least it is not radioactive, yet.

The Americans know that even a limited Russian nuclear strike on the US mainland would send their whole society into freefall. Many of their cities are already powder kegs ready to blow. Racial and social war is just below the surface.

Anyone who thinks that a “Labour”-label government will be any better or even very different from the “Conservative”-label shambles of the past 13 years is politically naive. The real agenda is behind the outward political process and show.

I never use “left/right” terminology, but yes…

Twitter gives a false impression of the strength and numbers of the idiots who support, inter alia, the facemask nonsense and other “Covid” nonsense, the migration invasion, the whole “Black Lives Matter” idiocy, Greta Nut etc. In reality, those types are a minority; in fact a small minority. A sick minority.

I wonder how much loot that particular (and particularly distasteful) scam netted “Jack Monroe”?

“Grifter”/fraudster Jack Monroe says that, having been informed of the date of hearing by the County Court, the Court itself “advised” her not to attend! Well, admittedly I am now very rusty on court procedure, having not practised at the Bar for some 15 years, but that sounds very unlikely to me. Also, the courts or court offices never give advice, as such.

Sounds like more “Jack Monroe” lies, but I shall be interested to see what transpires.

As for Alice Beer, she was never the brightest tool in the box, as people say. Part of that msm milieu where who you know is more important than what you know (which might be described as one of modern Britain’s major curses).

Just imagine, the “Consumer Editor” of a morning TV show appears totally (wilfully?) blind to the fact that “Jack Monroe”, “Bootstrap Cook”, is a lying scammer who should be the subject of a police investigation.

Looking at the mugs who support and send money to “Jack Monroe”, one realizes anew the truth of the old saying of confidence tricksters that the “marks” (victims) of the “grifters” (con artists) want, subconsciously, to be cheated, and know, in the back of their minds, that they are being cheated, yet cling to the lies and the liars.
