Saw a long recording of the final director’s cut of the famous film, Apocalypse Now. More than impressive, and makes much more sense than the usual much-cut-down version that I have seen in the past.

I was just watching an episode, I think 5 years or so old, of The Chase. A question was asked re. which Prime Minister was “put into Room 101“, (the UK TV show) by Jeremy Clarkson. A choice of three, which the contestant answered, correctly, as having been David Cameron. The Chaser, “the Vixen”, Jenny Ryan, also answered correctly. However, presenter Bradley Walsh said, en passant, “I’d have gone Chamberlain”, and the “Vixen” said “I’m with you there“.
What they were really saying is that Chamberlain was rubbish because he tried to avert the disastrous war against the German Reich.
Neither Jenny Ryan nor Bradley Walsh are Jewish, but what they were doing there was making a kind of ritual minor obeisance to the Jewish lobby. To put it another way, they were signalling a kind of fealty.
The fact is that no-one the Jews/Jewish lobby/Israel lobby dislikes or disapproves will get on TV (and so make plenty of money) or stay there if they hold the “wrong” opinions. What that poll, like others over the past year, shows, is that the voters are not only sick of the “two main parties”, but determined to stamp on them.
The Caerphilly by-election was niche, in that it was for the Welsh Senedd, not Westminster. Nonetheless, we see where Labour and Con ended up— 11% and 2% respectively. Yes, Reform got “only” second place and 36% to Plaid’s 47%, but that was in a very traditional Welsh and formerly Labour stronghold.
Caerphilly was a Senedd by-election. Also, Plaid had the advantage of a candidate who has been a local councillor in the same area for 50 years.
Part of the Plaid vote was obviously tactical, voters in a close contest voting Plaid to stop Reform.
All of that, yet Reform still went from a previous 1.7% to 36%.
At Westminster, Plaid is a sideshow, unless it can capture a very significant chunk of the 32 Welsh seats presently held by Labour (27 seats), Plaid Cymru (4 seats), and the LibDems (1 seat).
Labour’s 27 Welsh seats must be regarded as now vulnerable, but the question is, vulnerable to which parties? Not Cons, of course. Reform and Plaid, mainly. More likely Reform than Plaid.
In much of England, Reform is still the only game in town, as far as can be seen. Today’s opinion poll would result, if replicated at GE 2028/2029, in Reform getting about 276 seats, Lab 95, LibDem 76, Cons 70, SNP 44, Greens 31 (etc). Reform would thus be about 30 short of a bare majority.

Perhaps so, though I would say at about 35% rather than high-20s. People, mainly white English people, want to stamp on fake Labour, and on the fake Conservatives. Voting for Reform is the method of doing that. Beyond that, the Reform surge is a desperate longing for social nationalism, but that longing is unarticulated, unexpressed directly. People want a better life, a future. They know what Mosley called “the old parties” cannot give that to them. They are by no means sure that Reform can, either, so are voting Reform to hit out at this failing society and its decadent exploitative pseudo-democratic and (((occupied))) parties, and as a signal that the people want better.
Once Reform tries and fails, people will be ready to look elsewhere.
It may be asked why only (at best) 36% of people are doing all that via voting Reform. The answer is, first of all, that there is huge apathy (less than 60% even voted in 2024).
Secondly, many dislike Reform’s almost hysterical pro-Jewish lobby, pro-Israel, agenda.
Third, many dislike Reform having many non-white candidates and officers.
Fourthly, many dislike the American-style fake “libertarianism” of Farage, Tice etc, the worship of finance-capitalism etc.
Fifthly, of course, 20% of the whole UK population is now non-white anyway, and unlikely (most of them) to support anything of a national character, even something as underwhelming as Reform.
There is a sixth point. Yes, Reform wants to “stop the boats”, i.e. the (?) 5% of immigration which is in the character of a migration invasion; it says little or nothing about the remaining (?) 95%; neither is there any clear plan about how to get rid of even the illegals. People see that gap between expressed policy and likely implementation, or lack of it.
Of course, Tom Newton-Dunn fails to add the obvious point— if Reform is not doing well and is on “only” 27%, how much worse are the Lab/Con parties (two sides of one party) doing, on 17% each?
The “Con Party” is lower than irrelevant now. 2% at Caerphilly, as low as 15% in some national opinion polls, and not unlikely to be around 10% by the time GE 2028/2029 comes around, bearing in mind the advanced age of most Con voters now.

Life is always surprising
Never has the phrase, “they don’t make ‘em like they use to” been so true.
Long-term and regular readers of the blog will know that I have blogged a few times about the month I spent at the oasis of Siwa in the Western Desert of Egypt in 1998 (part of three straight months I spent in Egypt that year). Siwa had slave caravans coming through from Central Africa to the Nile and Nile Delta right up until the 1940s, I think the late 1940s.
One of several unusual features about Siwa is that, at least until the late 20thC, men were not allowed to marry until aged 40, but girls were always married by their early teens. I was told that the girls now finish their schooling first (whether that means 16 or 18, probably 16).

“Both men had their sentences suspended after Judge Vanessa Baraitser considered the bursting prison population and an assessment by the Probation Service that found both defendants were unlikely to reoffend if they took up the opportunity to do self-help workshops. Both must pay compensation to their victims and attend rehabilitation days instead.
Williams-Gillett reached through the window and took his car keys. When his pregnant partner asked for the keys back, Williams-Gillett tried to punch her. By now the dad 50, had come back down the stairs and tried to pull Williams-Gillett away from the partner, triggering a brutal assault.
“Your response to that was to launch a violent attack on him. To stab him repeatedly to his face, so hard the keys were bent out of shape from the impact,” said Judge Baraitser.
Unable to start the car, the man phoned his cousin for help, while Williams-Gillett’s brother Fabian Bennett also arrived carrying a metal baseball bat. Bennett immediately set to work on the dad with the baseball bat, hitting his legs, ribs, and body. Williams-Gillett also joined in the beating, kicking the dad and using the baseball bat.
Bennett then turned to the pregnant woman, grabbed her by the throat, and bent her backwards over a fence while goading her partner ‘using her as bait’. When the cousin arrived in his Citroen, the man and his partner got in the car while Williams-Gillett used the bat to smash the windows, including where a child was sitting.
The cousin was punched in the face, but the first male victim managed to drive everyone away leaving his Hyundai behind. When he came back to get the car, the doors had been broken and his partner’s purse containing £350 in cash and her Monzo card was stolen.
Williams-Gillett was sentenced to 18 months suspended for 20 months with 25 days rehabilitation activity requirement. He must also pay £1,700 in compensation. Bennett got 12 months suspended for 18 months with 25 days rehabilitation activity requirement. He must pay £500 compensation.”

Regular readers of the blog will know that I am very much not a “hanger and flogger”, but that sentence for those crimes makes a mockery of “law and order” or “a society under law”.
The Hebrew caption reads: “Anyone who throws a water bottle can also throw a grenade. Mobilize everyone.” That refers to the exemption of the “black hat” Jews from military service in Israel/Occupied Palestine. Those “black hats” are a cowardly bunch, though. Look at how that young woman is able to chase one who threw water at her, and kick another in the rear!
