In my opinion, it is not impossible to see Reform UK getting 15% or even more, and the Con vote reducing to about 40%, maybe even 35%. In those circumstances, it is at least possible to see the LibDems getting 35% (or even more, if aided by tactical voting; they scored 35.5% in 2010) and so pulling off rather a coup.
According to my use of Electoral Calculus, that would give Labour 512 MPs (overall majority 374), LibDems 58, Cons 31, SNP 20, Reform UK 4, Plaid Cymru 4, Greens 2 (etc).
So, on that basis, a Labour “elected” dictatorship, LibDems as official Opposition, Cons facing the end of the road, and the SNP pretty washed-up. Also, Farage with a very small but significant bloc of MPs, likely to punch above their weight in public relations terms.

I suppose that it could be argued that the sentence is not unjust: the victim will (presumably) get that £800, and 180 hours of serf labour is pretty stiff, but the idea that such a defendant poses “no risk” is surely demonstrably untrue.
I suppose, also, that the only way to test the verdict of that judge is the method suggested by the judge to the jury in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Trial by Jury:

Now, more information. Seems that the egregious Israel-based Jew-Zionist solicitor, Mark Lewis, was involved (I was unaware of that until today, though did wonder when I saw a few tweets in the past week). He has messed up…again.
It seems Mr Lewis thought Mr Cantor had no assets and had financial immunity for my costs even if he lost.
The “misunderstanding” is catastrophic for Mr Cantor and his family because he must sell his house to pay my costs.
My opinion is that Mr Lewis should pay the costs! 2/2.
Lewis is actually a pretty poor lawyer anyway in my opinion (based partly on what I have read about him over the years), and he has in the past admitted that at times — apparently by reason of his prescribed medications, in part— he has, or has had, no idea of what he is or was doing.
Looks now as if that Cantor individual (of whom I know nothing, and of whom I had never heard until this case finished recently) will or might have to take legal action against Lewis himself if he is not to become homeless after his failed attempt to ruin a university academic. What a great pity…

I keep seeing on Twitter/X that Lewis must be a great defamation lawyer because he “won when representing ‘Jack Monroe’ against Katie Hopkins, who lost and had to sell her house.”
True, Katie Hopkins did lose that case, and did have to sell her house to pay the legal costs supposedly incurred by that fraudulent purveyor of 10p-a-dinner swill, “Jack Monroe” (Melissa Hadjicostas, before she changed her name).
What that story leaves out is that, firstly, Katie Hopkins was either badly advised or, as I believe was the case, not advised at all; she had no lawyers, and so persisted with a defence which was bound to fail. She never stood a chance, but her pride got in the way.
As for Lewis, a child could have won that case against Katie Hopkins.
So Lewis was trying to blag £600 an hour for his most recent defective advice? Well, he will get nothing now (again); he will have to keep the lights switched off in his flat in Eilat, and “collect the pennies on the empties”, as people used to say.

No matter how much money the U.S. Government sends to the Kiev regime, no matter even how much armament and ammunition is sent, the Kiev regime cannot “win”, even to the extent of occupying the Donbass and Crimea.
The Kiev regime army is flagging as many desert the field, and many more avoid conscription. To be recruited by the Kiev regime army is to be sent to quite likely death or life-changing injury on the front-lines, which are now starting to collapse.
Ukraine is producing few children, and a quarter or more of its pre-2022 population is living outside Ukraine. If American and EU aid stopped, there would be no fighting within a few weeks, followed by either a negotiated armistice or Russian victory. As it is, it looks as though this brutal war will smoulder on for months, maybe even a year or two.
In the end, though, Russia will “win”, in the sense of taking over all of Eastern Ukraine, and possibly the coast as far as, and maybe beyond, Odessa.
I watched a few minutes of a very biased BBC World News report about the war. The reporter, some bearded fellow whose name I did not catch, did say something about why Ukrainians try to avoid fighting. Apart from the obvious dangers, open-ended service (no way of getting out) and poor conditions generally.
What, however, made the report farcical was said reporter’s then assertion that Ukraine is a “genuine democracy“. Were the Con percentage to decline even one point, to 18%, even without an increase in any of the other numbers, the number of Con MPs would reduce to only 28.
When you see that, and factor in the political intentions of those under 40, and under 30, and the fact that the Con core vote consists largely of the retired, indeed of those over 70, over 80, you can see that this really could spell the end of the Conservative Party.
In fact, even were the Conservative Party to retain 100, even 150, MPs, it would be all but irrelevant in a Commons with 450+ Labour MPs, and a Labour majority of maybe 300 or more. That would hit Con Party funding and ability to come back from the debacle.
I was just musing on such ideas as I carefully drove a few miles this morning on a rural A-road, its surfacing poor and dotted with troughs and potholes which one had to navigate around, as in some areas of Russia and Ukraine (or, in pre-EU-membership days, in Bulgaria, as I recall from 2001). As most readers will probably know, Sam Melia was sentenced last Friday to 2 years imprisonment (which may in practice mean 6-12 months —more likely 12 than 6) for distributing stickers which themselves contained nothing illegal, as the trial and sentencing judge recognized.
The judge is said also to have recognized, in his summation, that Sam Melia is a good fellow (or some such), a good family man, a good citizen and community member etc. Despite that, Melia has been imprisoned, for what amount to purely political reasons.
Melia’s wife, the brave Laura Towler, has been left to struggle with her home and small business, with one small child, as well as being about to give birth to a second child.

I had forgotten about “Russ in Cheshire” (who seems in fact to be yet another one actually in or from Essex, unless I am mistaken). Russ-in-Cheshire is on a similar page to the others, but poses mainly as social or political commentator on the fringe of humour, and has written a book about politics or society. He even appeared on at least one TV quiz show (The Chase? Not sure; maybe it was Eggheads, now that I think about it). I think that his team even won some money.

Typically misleading Sky News. In fact, it was not “the hottest June everin UK” (as seen in that tweet) but the hottest June since records began, which was only in 1884. As the report does say, previous hot-June records were reached in both 1940 and 1976. Even the headline, “hottest June on record“, though technically correct, is misleading, because many will assume that records go back to maybe 1700 or so, which is not the case on a reliable or consistent basis.
In historical terms, 139 years (1884-2023) is almost nothing.

There was no measurement of temperature then, but warmer climatic conditions can be inferred from forms of agriculture known to have been current, and from animal and plant remains, tree rings etc.

Thinking “outside the box”, how about giving the invaders (both sexes) a choice between leaving the UK within a certain number of days (maybe 30 days) with financial help, or facing compulsory sterilization? That at least would safeguard the race-stock.

In the UK, there are a number of issues around water supply and use. First of all, the unnecessary and deliberate increase in population (from immigration and births to immigrants) since the 1980s, and especially from the 1990s.
Secondly, the sheer incompetence of the water companies in various ways, especially in the failure to repair leaking pipes.
Fourthly, design issues. In some parts of the world, such as southern Spain, new multi-story buildings have to have rainwater catchment and storage. When I lived for a while in the Caribbean, I saw that most villas (including mine) had large inbuilt water tanks. The water was unsuitable for drinking unless boiled (I had to buy imported mineral water, or UV-filtered Miami tap water, the latter USD $5 per U.S. gallon, for that), but the tank water was OK, from a health viewpoint, for coffee and tea. The tank water never ran out, despite being used for showers etc.

Interesting. Has that had political effects? Also, what is our British excuse (or reason)? I am convinced that the IQ levels of the UK population have also dropped greatly in the past half-century. As I have blogged previously, a year or so ago, during the period roughly 1949-1989, i.e. the ~40 years of the Cold War, into which I was born (b.1956), I never, as child or adult, believed that there would be a nuclear war between East and West, though we now know that, quite apart from the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1963, one nearly started by ridiculous accident in 1983: see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983_Soviet_nuclear_false_alarm_incident.
After the death of Sovietism, officially 1991 but in reality about 1989, and during both the Yeltsin and Putin rulerships 1991-2012, there was effective detente between the West and Russia. Storm clouds gathered after that.
Only now, in the past year or so, have I been seriously concerned that there might be a real and almost inevitably nuclear war between NATO (i.e. the USA and its hangers-on) and Russia.
The regional conflict in the Ukraine area, which is now a regional war, sees ever-more escalation by NATO and the West generally. More advanced, and heavier, weapons being shipped to the Kiev regime, along with enormous amounts of non-military aid, and equally-huge amounts of actual money, some of which has certainly been stolen by Kiev-regime officials.
The situation is uncertain, but a full war between NATO and Russia is now by no means unlikely, and all because NATO wants to pressure Russia and then have Putin removed by internal coup, possibly to be followed by the breaking up of the Russian Federation into a number of constituent parts, something that has not been the case since the time of Ivan the Terrible (16thC).
