Ukraine and Putin, Russia and China

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-62246914

There is no intelligence that Vladimir Putin is unstable or in bad health, the director of the CIA has said.

There has been increasing unconfirmed media speculation that Mr Putin, who turns 70 this year, may be suffering from ill health, possibly cancer.

[BBC News]

In other words the Western “Judenpresse” has been pumping out its usual horseshit…

[apparent state of play in the Ukrainian theatre as of 17 July 2022]

As far as the war is concerned, no big changes. However, with the supply of further long-range missiles by the USA to the Kiev regime, the logic surely points to greater and more destructive escalation. This is a race which the Kiev regime cannot win, certainly not alone, bearing in mind that Russia is not only a nuclear power but a nuclear power whose capabilities in that respect are advancing.

As far as the present battlefield is concerned, the Russian forces will be looking to consolidate gains in the area east of the Dnieper river, and particularly in the Donbass, before advancing further.

Meanwhile, Gorbachev (91 now, and in very poor health) has been for some time talking, via a trusted spokesman:

In recent years President Vladimir Putin grew increasingly insistent that NATO is encroaching close to Russia‘s borders, and uses the possibility of Ukraine joining the military alliance as one of his many ‘justifications’ for invading.

Gorbachev said Washington grew ‘arrogant and self-confident’ after the collapse of the Soviet Union, leading to the expansion of the NATO military alliance.

‘How can one count on equal relations with the United States and the West in such a position?’ Gorbachev told state news agency RIA Novosti  in December 2021, on the eve of the anniversary of his resignation as the leader of the USSR.

He noted the ‘triumphant mood in the West, especially in the United States’ after the Soviet Union ceased to exist in 1991. ‘They grew arrogant and self-confident. They declared victory in the Cold War,’ Gorbachev said.

He insisted that it was ‘together’ that Moscow and Washington pulled the world out of confrontation and the nuclear race. ‘No, the ‘winners’ decided to build a new empire. Hence the idea of NATO expansion,’ Gorbachev added.”

[Daily Mail]

Russia was already on the back foot after NATO [NWO] expansion since the early 1990s and still continuing. The invasion of Ukraine was a response to that, but at the same time triggered yet more and overt NATO encroachment.

Compare that situation to what China has been doing. Following the famous dictum of Sun-Tzu, “to win without war is the supreme excellence“, China has been encroaching on the territory of not only Russia (mainly in (far-) Eastern Siberia, in the former Soviet Far East region) but also Western Europe, as well as throughout Eastern Asia and into Western Europe and even Australasia. Not by force but by guile, though.

Look around you in, say, the UK. Chinese people everywhere, in huge numbers. They are (all but a handful) not “Chinese agents” in the obvious sense. It is at one more straightforward, yet also more sophisticated, than that. Their numbers steadily increase, as does Chinese influence generally.

China thinks in millennia, not in terms of the next few years, or the next election, as is common in the West. It will be recalled that someone, I think Pat Nixon, asked Chou en-Lai, at dinner in the Great Hall of the People in Peking in 1972, what he thought of the French Revolution of 1789. The now-famous response was “it is too early to say“.

It does not matter whether Mrs Nixon’s question was either or both sincere and her own or, as I suspect, origined in the US State Department. The response is what is of importance.

The USA has supplanted the Imperial Russia of 1914 as “a colossus on legs of straw”, “ruled” by men of straw.

Kamala Harris— non-European (or only partly so). Rishi Sunak— non-European. Is there a connection at this time, something to do with the Coudenhove-Kalergi Plan?

Of course, it is not yet certain that Sunak will become Prime Minister of the UK; we shall see.

Leaving aside the rights and wrongs of the instant conflict, that report shows a very hopeful aspect of human nature, particularly European human nature, namely the desire for civilized order. When the Soviet Union collapsed, and tens of millions of people were left either without pay, or on totally inadequate pay, huge numbers of people, such as postal employees, railway station staff, Army officers etc, kept working for little or no pay for months, even years, somehow surviving, and keeping the fabric of society together.

Now, Poltava, between Kharkov and the river Dnieper, looks set to be again the pivot of large-scale operations, as it was during the Second World War.

For those who have not encountered “eminent domain”, that is a doctrine in U.S. constitutional law that is akin to the British “compulsory purchase”: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eminent_domain_in_the_United_States.

Even more striking when you see it laid out like that.

Ukraine

Kiev-regime forces using elderly and disabled people as human shields:

The United Nations said Ukraine’s armed forces bore a large, and perhaps equal, share of the blame for an assault at a nursing home in Luhansk, where dozens of elderly and disabled patients were trapped inside without water or electricity. At least 22 of the 71 patients survived, but the exact number killed remains unknown. A few days before the attack, Ukrainian soldiers took up positions inside the nursing home, making the building a target, the UN said.” [MSN News].

Meanwhile, NWO puppet and Jew dictator, Zelensky, has sacked a number of Ukrainian ambassadors, including the one in Berlin.

David Davis

There are rumours that David Davis may offer his candidature for the position of leader of the Conservative Party, and so Prime Minister.

About 14 years ago, in 2008, I opined, in a restricted-circulation study, that David Davis, who had previously lost out to David Cameron-Levita in the Conservative leadership contest, might well still achieve ministerial, or possibly even prime-ministerial, rank.

I was right as to the first, though it took him another 8 years; as to the second, the office of Prime MInister, that is far less likely, but not impossible now.

Davis may be less obviously or, rather, self-publicizingly, intellectual than one or two of the others in the contest, but is no dummy, all the same.

Davis has points which few if any in that contest at present can match.

First, Davis is of real British origins (not black, brown, or Jew), which at present only 2 out of 9 declared candidates can claim: see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_Conservative_Party_leadership_election_(UK)#Candidates.

Second, Davis has proven principles and integrity, unlike all but (arguably) one or two of the presently-declared candidates (Penny Mordaunt being one).

Third, Davis is a staunch supporter of free speech and freedom of expression, unlike most if not all of the presently-declared candidates.

Fourthly, Davis has real grit.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Davis_(British_politician)

I should say that, comparing Davis to the presently-declared candidates, he is the only one with the mix of attributes that might make him an acceptable Prime Minister (albeit within the System).

I hope that David Davis enters the contest; if he does, he might just win, if only as an acceptable compromise candidate.

Some people might say that that pair need a good kicking, but in fact they have so far not even been charged with criminal damage to The Hay Wain. Britain 2022…

Panicdemic

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10998745/Susan-Michie-claims-Tories-sit-hands-let-Covid-rip-cases-set-hit-350-000.html

Seems that evil pseudo-Communist hypocrite (and heiress) Susan Michie is again pushing for the facemask nonsense etc to resume.

Only a tiny handful of people are (and ever have been) seriously unwell (of “Covid” alone), but the faked “cases” pile up (in the equally-faked statistics).

I recall when all this nonsense started, over two years ago. Panicked reports from Italy and China and, the very same day that it really hit the news agenda, a film (a drama, fictional) on TV about…a virus starting in China that spreads death across the world. A film put into the TV schedules weeks or months in advance. Makes you think…

As to the maniacs like Michie and Ferguson, wanting a return to the unnecessary and hugely damaging “lockdowns” (shutdowns) and facemask nonsense (and other nonsensical measures), see below:

Incidentally…

Total hospital admissions are climbing, with patient levels nearing the peak reached during the previous wave of infections in spring. However, only a fraction are primarily ill with the virus, suggesting the rise is a reflection of high rates of transmission in the community, rather than severe disease.”

[Daily Mail]

[Daily Mail]

Actually, “Covid” has become the go-to excuse for organizations not functioning properly: banks, local authorities, NHS, all using it as an excuse to cut services and opening hours.

As for people wanting a few days off work, a cold will not cut it, but a supposed positive test for “Covid” will do fine, even though the symptoms are very similar now. Madness, but that is, to a large extent, Britain in 2022— mad.

More around the Boris-idiot Cabinet of clowns

There are those still in, or promoted to, Cabinet, who would surely never have reached Cabinet-ministerial rank under anyone else but Johnson. Take Priti Patel, saved from spending her life behind the counter of an Indian grocery shop in Uganda by her parents having relocated to the UK in the late 1960s.

Would Priti Patel reach Cabinet-level under any other Prime Minister? Well, yes, in the past (before her limitations were so well-known), in that Theresa May first appointed her to Cabinet. However, that was soon seen as a mistake.

Hard to see Priti Patel being even a minister, let alone a Cabinet Minister, after this year. That’s the point, and that is why she will defend Boris-idiot to the end.

Others? Liz Truss, smug and unpleasant Kit Malthouse, Anne-Marie Trevelyan, the Jew Shapps, Therese Coffey, Nadine Dorries (obviously); others yet.

That collection of moneygrubbing deadheads will cling to office whatever it takes. Boots will have to stamp on their fingers to get them to let go.

I met John Tyndall several times in 1975, but cannot say that I knew him beyond those brief and brisk meetings. My impressions: Tyndall was a basically honest man, in my view, not a double-dealer (unlike several at the top of the National Front). He had strong views, sometimes right, sometimes not so right.

A quite-good political speaker, in the mould of Oswald Mosley (though nowhere near that level), Tyndall modelled himself quite consciously, I think, on Mosley, even in terms of his manner of speaking (watch the clip in the tweet).

Tyndall’s manner in conversation (at least with me) was brisk, short, rather like a mid-level Army officer of the old school. I detected a slightly narrow intolerance. On the other hand, Tyndall had fairly good organizational talents. He built the NF up to the point where the System, the Jews, Israel (and their “antifascist” useful idiots) had to mount a huge covert operation to bring the NF down in the 1970s.

I feel that, with Tyndall, overall, you got what you saw in front of you.

Quite. Boris-idiot was useless at all previous jobs, and the top job, Prime Minister. Too useless. So useless that not only the System msm but even the manipulated people of the country were starting to notice.

Was interested to hear a TV reporter in Ukraine, either Sky News or BBC, give the Ukrainian view of their Lukansk defeat, then add something like “if that can be believed“.

At first, months ago, anything the Ukrainians (Zelensky regime) put out as “fact” was naively believed, even patent nonsense such as the non-existent “Ghost of Kiev” fighter ace. Those lies were retailed to the public, and affected the Western public perception of what was happening, and the reaction of Western political leaders.

Now, reality begins to set in. The forces of the Kiev regime in Eastern Ukraine are running out of soldiers, ammunition (especially for artillery), artillery itself, and fuel. The Russian forces are now gradually carrying out a large-scale strategic or positional operation which will end with the occupation of all of Ukraine east of the river Dnieper.

Empires rise and fall, emperors and other political leaders rise and fall, and those empires and states are the foundation, basis, or catalyst for coming cultures. Ukraine

[Ukraine: apparent state of play as of 30 June 2022]

Even the Western msm are reporting that Russian forces are fast closing-in on Lisichansk, having taken nearby Severodonetsk. Sky News admitted that many civilians in Lisichansk are actually pro-Russian and await the arrival of Russian forces with anticipated relief.

It is only a matter of time before not only the Donbass region but all of Ukrainian territory within the polygon Kharkov-Mariupol-Zaporozhye-Kremenchuk-Kharkov falls to Russian control. Once that happens, the Ukrainians will be unable to prevent a massive Russian advance on a broad front generally northwestward, between the Dnieper and the Russian border.

The Ukrainians have insufficient fuel east of the Dnieper to last long in terms of infantry and armour mobility, and are running out of artillery capability. If Russian forces can occupy everywhere east of the Dnieper, and south of a line Kremenchuk-Kharkov, their approach towards Kiev might be both swift and unstoppable.

Exactly. The Coudenhove-Kalergi Plan.

I saw, just yesterday, a TV ad for a new film, a remake of The Railway Children. Guess what? One of the children is now a black…

Every TV ad, pretty much, now has blacks, indeed often many more blacks than whites; same goes for every TV drama, even those set in the 18thC, even those set in Tudor times! See my blog from years ago: https://ianrobertmillard.org/2018/12/10/tv-ads-and-soaps-are-the-propaganda-preferred-by-the-system-in-the-uk/.

This is no accident. It is part of a giant push by transnational conspirators to “reset the global agenda”; aka The Great Reset, combined with The Great Replacement (of European populations by non-Europeans). No prizes for guessing (((which group))) is behind much of it.

The TV ads etc do not “simply reflect society”, as some weasels claim. The UK is, at least officially, still (still?) 85% white, and actual blacks are only about 3% of the population. In England, the figures would be maybe 80% white, and 4% black. Somewhere around there.

In other words, those ads and TV dramas are social engineering, largely by (((“them”))), the aim being to normalize non-whites everywhere, to normalize that in the minds of, mainly, the impressionable young.

Well before 2066, in my view. Unless it is stopped.

This is just mad

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10930527/Prepare-fight-beat-Russia-World-War-Britains-general-warns.html.

Britain’s top army general has told his troops to prepare to fight and beat Putin’s armies in a European land war, it has emerged tonight.

General Sir Patrick Sanders, who assumed overall command of the British Army this week, warned soldiers ‘we are the generation that must prepare the Army to fight in Europe once again’ as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine rocks global stability.

[Daily Mail]

One is tempted to wonder whether the General had had a little too much Blackstrap (cognac/port mixture, not the rum of the same name) in the officers’ mess.

Look at the readers’ comments appended to that Daily Mail article. Most are scathing about both the perceived “need” to fight Russia and the actual ability of the UK to do so, bearing in mind that Britain was scarcely able to bomb Libya a decade ago, needing French and Italian assistance.

The British Army is somewhere around 70,000 “soldiers” (at present being reduced from 80,000+ to 72,000, officially, but in reality well under strength). A tenth are women. About three-quarters are rear-echelon forces. That leaves (roughly; I am sure that military buffs will correct me) 15,000-20,000 actual or potential fighting soldiers.

The Russian Army exceeds a million active troops. Yes, some are of poor quality; so are many of those in the British Army! Never more so than today. In the British Army, drunkenness and drug abuse are common (admittedly, the former has been known in the recent and historical past!), and the Army has had to lower its physical-condition entry standards for enlistment.

In reality, any “war with Russia” involving the UK would have the British in a role serving as very junior partners to the massive US forces.

To be frank, the British Army is in no state to take on any opponent at present, unless a very backward black/brown enemy (and that would not happen now anyway for several reasons, including the “lift” capacity of the RAF being very limited).

Quality usually trumps quantity, but I see few indications now that Russian troops are hugely below the British level. The newspapers have just reported that the very same general has barred some of the supposedly best troops (reportedly from 3 Para) from being sent on exercise or deployment, after disgraceful goings-on in their Essex barracks: see https://www.itv.com/news/anglia/2022-06-09/armed-forces-minister-sorry-and-embarrassed-over-alleged-sex-video; https://www.itv.com/news/anglia/2022-06-18/para-regiment-dropped-from-overseas-operations-after-alleged-sex-video.

Armies reflect the societies from which they recruit. Britain is subsumed in decadence at present.

As a matter of fact, that general, busy moving his painted regiments on a painted map of Eastern Europe, seems to be preparing to fight the last war (meaning the 1939-45 war against the German Reich). He talks as if Hiroshima and Nagasaki never happened.

Russian military doctrine approves first-use of at least tactical nuclear weapons in any situation where Russia’s borders face existential peril.

The General’s ten or twenty thousand men (women are not on the front-line) will not last long in any war with Russia. Equally important, the families and homes of those soldiers will have been incinerated long before the soldiers themselves ever see a Russian soldier.

Taking a look back, at the bigger picture, this is all part of a cynical NWO/ZOG ploy, like the wars against Iraq. There is no need at all for the UK (or any Western or Central European state) to fight Russia.

The Soviet Union was an expansionist state, and motivated, however sluggishly since 1945, by an aggressive political doctrine, Marxism-Leninism.

That does not exist today. Russia is a mildly-nationalist traditional state, more or less. It may vaguely want to restore its core Soviet and Imperial-Russian borders (Ukraine, the “Pribaltika“, the Caucasus region, even Kazakhstan etc), but certainly has no interest in invading Europe west of Ukraine or Belarus.

There are now secret circles and cabals in the UK, USA etc which are pushing for war with Russia, using Ukraine (a “state” that has only existed for 30 years as a state, and with which the UK has almost no historical connection or common interests) as a pretext. Mad and bad.

Incidentally, I see that General Sanders is an alumnus of Worth Abbey school in West Sussex. In or about 1982, when the General would still have been at school there, I went with my then girlfriend and her two young children to some Roman Catholic gathering there. We camped in the grounds, just near the Abbey. I myself am not Roman Catholic, but went along for the ride, really. I was there for a dull day or two, and had a swim in the small and dark indoor pool, housed in a separate building.

It makes me wonder whether the education and training of officers should not be improved, so that nincompoops of that sort do not reach general-officer rank still thinking that a nuclear war with Russia can be “won”.

Whatever the truth of that, it is at least interesting that the Skrypal case occurred in Salisbury. Was punishment of the double-agent only one motive? Was there another, such as trying to tar Porton Down with suspicion generally?

Ukraine

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-61786949

All bridges to the embattled Ukrainian city of Severodonetsk have now been destroyed, the local governor says.

With the city effectively cut off, Serhiy Haidai says delivering supplies and evacuating civilians are now impossible.

Reports suggest that about 70% of the city is now under Russian control.

[BBC News].

The Russians will eventually control at least a third, maybe a half, of that part of Ukraine that lies east of the Dnieper river. If so, it will have been a victory bought at a tremendous cost in human and animal suffering and death. Few if any (on any side of the conflict) will be untroubled by what has happened. It could have been accomplished quicker, and in a far less brutal way. Too late now. The Russians have no choice but to continue to the bitter end.

On the above premises, it may be possible for Russian forces to take (or besiege, until surrender) Kharkov, Zaporozhye, and Dnipro. That would leave the Kiev regime ruling over only Kiev itself, Odessa, and Lvov, together with mainly rural western Ukraine.

What happens when a part-Jew clown and poseur lies and cheats and blags his unmerited way into the office of Prime Minister? What do you get? That’s right— a circus.

Britain 2022: imprisoned for a joke (in this case about a black who was never even in the UK), or for speaking in Whitehall to the effect that Britain should be cleansed of Jews (Jez Turner), or for lampooning Jewish behaviour in funny songs and animations (Alison Chabloz).

Meanwhile, serious real crimes are commonly dealt with by way of non-custodial sentences, or even by formal police caution.

Mad. The country is just going mad. Fast.

Seems that the USA is even more mad than the UK.

Eventually a complete purge of the West and East will be necessary.

Saturday quiz

This week brought another victory over political journalist John Rentoul: he scored 5/10, but I trumped that with 7/10. I did not know the answers to questions 1, 3, and 5. I admit to having guessed no. 10, but fair’s fair…

From the horse’s mouth: the effects of the half-****** “Brexit” carried out by part-Jew chancer and liar “Boris”— an increase in non-European, non-white, immigration.

Of course, it is all too easy to eulogize the past, but a basically white Northern European society can progress; in our age, the black/brown societies cannot, which is why the forces of Evil support and promote “multiculturalism”, because it results in a never-ending cycle, the Eternal Recurrence, as Nietzsche put it.

In the 1970s, whatever problems Britain had could be solved, in principle. Now, with a far larger population generally (70 million instead of about 56 million) and huge non-white populations as part of that, I am not optimistic that problems can be solved. The direction of travel is downward.

Quite. Tweeter “@sorrelish” is right. Sophie Corcoran must come from the “George Osborne” school of social observation.

Seems that Sophie wants to make a well-paid “career” of making would-be “edgy” socio-political remarks, though naturally not “antisemitic” ones (the acid test…), in the manner of wastes of space such as Tom Harwood or, previously, Katie Hopkins, Toby Young etc.

Would-be “edgy”, rather than truly iconoclastic…

Interesting news from USA

The USA has been heading down the road to chaos for a long time…

…and guess what? The sinister Jew conspirator, Soros, is up to his neck in it. Again.

Every. Single. Time.

I wonder how many millions, or tens of millions, have died there as a result of other medical conditions left untreated (etc)? We shall never know.

“Lockdowns” are mad as well as tyrannical. Same goes for the facemask nonsense and, in general or mainly, “social distancing”.

Ukraine

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/jun/10/ukraine-casualty-rate-russia-war-tipping-point

The Russian forces in Ukraine east of the Dnieper river are doing what I expected, though far more slowly than I expected. They are squeezing and trying to encircle the large Ukrainian forces in and around the Donbass (southeastern Ukraine). This is the main industrial area of the country and is already, effectively and mostly, in Russian hands, with pockets of resistance in places.

I had expected Russian forces to advance north and south from the areas of Kharkov and the Sea of Azov coast respectively, then forming a line through Zaporozhye and Dnipro, and up to/down from Kharkov, thus cutting off all Ukrainian forces east of that line.

The Russians have not done what I expected, perhaps because of supply problems, perhaps also because of the apparently successful Ukrainian counter-attacks in the Kharkov area. The Russians may have redeployed forces formerly in the Kharkov area further south, around Izyum and Lisichansk.

The present focus seems to be on the town of Severodonetsk.

Instead, there seems to be an attempt at a more limited encirclement, involving about a third of the area mentioned above.

The Guardian is reporting that Ukrainian casualties, both killed and wounded, may top 1,000 per day. Even the lower estimate of 600 per day would not be sustainable for long. The Russian attrition rate is believed to be far less now, partly because the Russian forces have a longer-range capacity:

“...with an artillery overmatch of 10 or 15 to one, according to the Ukrainians, it may well be that the invaders’ casualty rate is far lower at the moment, because they are able to deal death from a greater distance to defenders who cannot see them.” [Guardian]

Ammunition is certainly running short on the Ukrainian side, again by their own admission. Vadym Skibitsky, the deputy head of Ukraine’s military intelligence, has said Ukraine is using 5,000 to 6,000 artillery rounds a day, and has “almost used up” its stockpile of Soviet 152mm standard shells. It is now relying on Nato-standard 155mm howitzers; it is unclear how many of these it has.” [Guardian]

Western support is still in place, as shown by the UK announcement to supply a handful of – perhaps three – multiple rocket launchers this week, even if Kyiv said almost immediately it wanted many times more. But it is Russia’s forces that have found a way to advance in the Donbas, raising the question of whether the three-month war is at another turning point.” [Guardian]

If Russian forces can succeed even in this more limited encirclement, they will capture huge numbers of prisoners (usable as bargaining chips), and territory, but also will more easily be able to overrun much of the territory of Ukraine east of the Dnieper and south of Kiev and Kharkov.

If the Russian forces succeed in their present operation, then I would expect them to attempt something akin to the larger encirclement of territory suggested at the top of this blog post. There may be relatively little opposition by that time. Also, the open and flat rural landscape will play to Russia’s strengths.

At that point (assuming that Zaporozhye, Dnipro, and perhaps Kharkov are all taken or bypassed), a very large assault on Kiev might be prepared.

I am assuming that the Ukrainian side is talking about their shortages of arms and ammunition in the hope that the UK and US (etc) will provide more and better. Maybe they will, maybe not.

That might be the case were Kiev seriously threatened. NWO/ZOG seems to want to provoke further conflict, so who knows?

Michael McFaul

I keep seeing hawk-like anti-Russia tweets from one Michael McFaul, Professor McFaul, of Stanford University (California). Turns out that he is a former U.S. Ambassador to Russia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_McFaul.

How can a more advanced society be created with such as those? In fact, how can even a reasonably-decent society, such as ours still (just-about) is, even be maintained? It cannot.

Desperate fighting, akin to the WW2 battle for Stalingrad, though on a far smaller scale.

So constructed ~1972. Ironic that the Soviet Union finally became at least liveable only a decade or so before its collapse.

The Jew Zelensky and his whole cabal know that their main chance is to lure the NATO allies deeper and deeper into this war, until —in effect— NATO forces are fighting Russian forces. Unfortunately, the largely Jewish-controlled or strongly influenced msm in the UK, USA and elsewhere are pushing Zelensky’s line, and his demand for more and heavier weaponry, and for more ammunition, rockets etc. If acceded to, that could lead to a nuclear war in Europe, and indeed across the USA, as well as across Russia.

The Bar continues to dig its own grave

https://www.lawgazette.co.uk/news/legal-regulators-pledge-to-stamp-out-non-inclusive-misconduct-/5112701.article.

This (read that report) is a trend that has been going on for 2-3 decades now. I could recount numerous examples from my own experience. One of the least egregious would be that involving a pupil in my own chambers in Exeter (in the early/mid 1990s, I was practising in London, but after working and living in various places overseas from 1996-2002, returned to the practising Bar in SW England in mid-2002).

The pupil to whom I refer (and who shall be nameless, partly out of courtesy but equally because I have actually forgotten her name), was from Northern Ireland.

Now I have to say that I find the Northern Irish accent one of the most difficult in the UK to understand easily but, in addition to that, the girl in question had a pretty bad speech impediment.

You might ask why on Earth someone with a bad speech impediment wanted to go to the Bar in the first place, or was not sidetracked into other career options at an earlier stage, but there it is. Of course, not all barristers spend much of their time in court.

Now, said girl pupil was, like many Bar pupils, far more obliging and pleasant when a pupil (and no doubt trying to get along pleasantly with members of chambers) than she was once taken on as a tenant or —as I think she was, cannot now recall exactly— squatter (a quasi-tenant but with no rights of tenure). I myself only saw her in passing, really, but did note that, once she was actually working as barrister, she seemed rather abrasive, judging admittedly by the very few times I saw her at (though not in) court. I never had any trouble with her myself, and in fact saw little of her.

Now the interesting thing was that not only did chambers (notably in the person of the main Clerk to Chambers) champion that young woman, but claimed that instructing solicitors loved her. Well, maybe. Seems strange to me that someone with both a speech impediment and an accent that was more like a gargle could be at the English Bar doing court work, but there we are.

I harbour a suspicion that people tend to bend over backwards to be nice, so to speak, to the physically-disabled, as many do also to some of the ethnic minorities. That is fine as far as it goes, but not when it amounts to a kind of lie.

Incidentally, I seem to remember that the person noted above returned, in the end, to her native Ulster, and maybe left the practising Bar.

Digressing further, I happened, out of curiosity today, to look at the website of the successor chambers to the one to which I belonged in Exeter from 2002-2008 (and which, an amalgam of two or three sets, is now the largest in the South West outside Bristol). I saw that several people that I liked are still there, and I saw that not only (as I knew already) is my old head of chambers now “His Honour” (a Circuit Judge) but that someone else I knew in chambers, a former magistrates’ clerk, with an encylopaedic knowledge of some aspects of (in particular) criminal law, is now also “His Honour”. Unless it is just someone with an identical name, but I think not.

That last was a nice little man, very polite and pleasant, who wore his considerable knowledge lightly. I seem to recall that he had written a well-received book on sentencing. Glad to see that his knowledge and diligence has been rewarded.

I was amused to see that two people who had rather more than a spat in chambers are now both members of that set. I liked both of them. One was a then-young man who was very eager to progress chambers (my wife called him a “Young Turk” for his enthusiastic diligence, but in these dumbed-down times, I suppose I shall have to explain that he was not a real Turk!). He was married to a pretty young woman whom I believe I met once at some chambers reception or other.

The other barrister, also young, was an ex-solicitor whose grandfather had founded one of the largest firms of solicitors in the South West. A very pleasant person.

Those people, with others in chambers, used to go shooting together, an activity of which I thoroughly disapproved. I disapprove of all hurt done to animals, particularly for sport or “fun”. I even disapprove of shooting humans, under most circumstances. Ironically, most of those I liked best in chambers were the shooters.

Anyway, one day, those two members of chambers were out shooting when a pheasant fell onto the head of the wife of the “Young Turk” and knocked her out in the field. Whether that preceded or not the affair that she apparently had with the other young barrister, I know not. It later transpired that, after much bad blood, I was the only member of chambers to be unaware of the feud that ensued, my mind being occupied by other matters (or as my wife would say, “in the clouds”) and, also, the fact that I was, by then, only spending half the month in the UK, the rest in France and some other countries.

I suppose that the two former antagonists have either buried the hatchet or (and/or) come to the realistic conclusion that that set is more or less “the only game in town” (in Exeter) now. Time heals all wounds, they say (though I remain doubtful of that, speaking generally). The events in question were after all some 15 or 16 years ago now.

and no need to mention the War (I mean ‘the vaccines‘)”…

Did that apply to freeloading “charity” bod Brendan Cox, and/or barrister and former scribbler Rupert Myers, or did their offences not even get to the stage of being investigated by police? At last, a reality check in the otherwise useless and in fact often deliberately untruthful UK msm.

I was blogging months ago that the forces of the Kiev regime would soon be running short of military resources, particularly fuel and ammunition.

J.H. Brennan

I discovered today that J.H. Brennan, whose early 1970s books Astral Doorways and Experimental Magic I owned from 1978 (when I was 21-22 y-o), is still alive, now aged 81: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Herbert_Brennan.

A pretty good writer, in my opinion, with an easy-reading style (judging by the few books of his that I have read).

Interesting analysis, and I can agree with much of it, though I do not accept that neurotic bighead, Gordon Brown’s, bailout of the bank swine was right at all— better to have let them go bust, imprison the wealthy bankers, then step in to help those with say £200,000 or less on deposit; and let the affluent and wealthy go smoke.

I agree that the “austerity” nonsense of the part-Jews David Cameron-Levita and George Osborne was disastrous, causing misery to millions without in any way dealing with the real problems of the financial sector and “national debt”.

As to cryptocurrencies, it is true that they are “without intrinsic value“, but that is also true of conventional currencies. I took a look at all that years ago on the blog: see https://ianrobertmillard.org/2017/12/10/thoughts-about-bitcoin/.

If a sustained recession/slump/depression is around the corner, there yet might be time for social-nationalism to triumph. Remember 1929-1933…
