Armaments sent to the Kiev regime
We have been told that various countries, such as Lithuania, are supplying Stinger missiles and other ground-to-air, and anti-tank weapons to the Ukrainian forces. Sweeney has a point about the morale of the two sides. It is clear that the Russian troops are reluctant invaders. That reluctance may go right to the top of the Russian Army. None dare call it sabotage?
As for the quiet streets of Kiev just reported upon, it is said that hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians have fled overseas, which may mean that literally millions have fled from Kiev and other near-frontline areas of the country to Western Ukraine, and some then to neighbouring states. Kiev’s 3 million population may now already be closer to 2 million, or even 1 million. Hard to say.
I have seen the main points made yesterday by the Ukrainian envoy to the UN in New York. I may be wrong, but the supposed texts or conversation he read out, messages between a young Russian soldier (later killed, said the diplomat) and his mother, seemed to me to be contrived, at least in part.
I may be wrong, but there was something in those supposed messages that reminded me of the lying testimony of the daughter of a Kuwaiti diplomat in 1990. She claimed that Iraqi soldiers had killed small children in a hospital. I was in New York at the time, and recall the effect that that pack of lies had on many people (the falsity of the testimony was not exposed immediately, by which time the lies had done their job, of course).

The effect of the Ukraine situation has been to push up oil and gas prices. Already, in the UK, the retail price of petrol (gasoline) is about 50% higher than it was a year ago. I have seen figures suggesting that domestic gas prices in 2023 may be double from where they are now.
This is not mainly the “fault” of Putin, and in fact may be in part the result of misapplied “green” policies in the UK and elsewhere.

Russian economy
The Russian consumer economy has been hit hard by the economic warfare now waged by the West. Having said that, at one time Russia, or at least the Soviet Union, had no consumer economy to speak of, yet not only trampled half of Europe underfoot but built atomic weapons and a space programme. I speak of the times of Stalin and Khrushchev.
Russia is still, I read, receiving USD $1 billion a day from hydrocarbon sales. In hard currency, not roubles. It is said that the war in Ukraine is costing USD $15 billion a day, but I wonder how true that is, bearing in mind that the armed forces would still be costing money even in their home bases; and the weapons used are in existence already.
Russia is 72x the size of the UK, has many different climates, has a large but not densely-packed population of ~145 millions, and the ability to live indefinitely, if necessary, entirely closed-off from the outside world.

I'm from Poland where many cities, towns and historic buildings were flattened in WW2, we reconstructed all of them in the space of a few years. Look at Gdańsk in Poland or the old town in Warsaw. Hang in there they won't get away with this!
The second tweeter is correct in saying that the Old Square and Cathedral area of Warsaw was reconstructed meticulously after the Second World War (I was there on a number of occasions in 1988 and 1989), but of course quite wrong in mentioning Gdansk (former Danzig), which was never a Polish city before 1945. It was a German city from at least the Middle Ages through to 1945.
The Teutonic Knights founded the city around 1300, though there was a small settlement or town there previously, occupied at times by Germans, Danes, and Polish tribespeople.
Subsequently, it was a Germanic city, though at times under the rule or patronage (before the 18thC) of the then Kingdom of Poland.
After 1945, almost all Germans were expelled, and the name changed to Gdansk. The postwar “reconstruction” deliberately diluted the Germanic history of the city (even Wikipedia admits that much).
Well, if the British Government was willing to declare world war in 1939 over a worthless “guarantee” to Poland, why not declare another in 2022 because Russia has “invaded” Ukraine (which two countries were under joint rule from earliest times until 1991, except for very brief periods such as 1942-44)?

Regular readers of the blog will know that I was never very favourable to Corbyn. Poorly-educated, not hugely intelligent, and not a defender of Western (i.e. European, or European-origined) civilization. His worship of the blacks and browns was particularly absurd, as was his Meccano-level political canon and understanding (“No pasaran!“, “Cable Street” etc).
According to his ex-wives, he never reads a book, a trait he shares with the part-Jew, part-Levantine poseur presently occupying the office of Prime Minister.
Corbyn was never really or properly “anti-Semitic” either, despite the claims made by the Jewish or Zionist lobby. He always paid lip-service to the “holocaust” farrago, for example. Also, while he may have opposed Jewish/Zionist exploitation in Israel, he never came out and opposed it vocally in the UK, France, or elsewhere (eg USA). Weak.
Corbyn was let down by most of his MPs, not least “near-beer” post-Stalinist John McDonnell, someone who “thought he could be king” only to find that he was a political mugged pensioner.
Having said that, Corbyn was conspired against from the start by an Israeli and UK Jewish cabal; as soon as he became Labour Party leader. His only chance was to go all-out for social nationalism, but he was personally incapable, constitutionally, of doing that.

54 years ago. I still recall the Christian names or surnames of a few of them, and a few details about them. Incidentally, I am the rather confident-looking little fellow in the second row up, third from the right, with striped tie, arms folded.
The black girl in the centre was an Aboriginal who spent part of the year at the school, and part with her family in the Northern Territory, thousands of miles away; some kind of Federal government integration programme.
I wonder how life turned out for them all…

I myself saw the Channel 4 newsroom at the ITN centre (it moved to a different address later) a couple of times, but that was in late 1984, about 6 years before Jon Snow became news anchor. When I was there (as a mere visitor, nothing to do with any particular story), the anchorman was Peter Sissons, now deceased [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Sissons].
I recall how different Sissons looked, compared to his on-screen persona, when seated at his desk preparing for the broadcast (I think he was on air at 1900 hrs, about 20 mins after I first saw him). Rather, if not very, fat in body, and rather disagreeable-looking, though the latter may have been simply Sissons concentrating hard on his upcoming appearance. I had no reason to speak to him, and did not.
Interesting to see a place like that. There was a feeling (not quite corresponding to reality, perhaps) of being at the hub of world events. Apart from the feeling of suppressed urgency just before the news was broadcast (the actual studio was somewhere else nearby), there was one girl, a few yards away, on the telephone to the Defence Minister of Nicaragua, another calling some VIP in Washington and, where I was sitting on my first visit, a TV with a very clear feed from the Soviet evening news from Moscow (today, that would be nothing, and a private person can probably get that via satellite TV, but back then it was novel to see).
What on Earth justifies that kind of pay? I see that Peter Sissons had, apart from his home in Kent, a holiday home on Barbados, according to Wikipedia. There is a general problem with ludicrously high pay (for sometimes rather mediocre people —not referring to Sissons or even Snow specifically—) in the UK msm.
I still, even now, after 2-3 years of misgovernment, see msm stories saying things such as “has Boris abandoned his libertarian principles?” as if he actually had principles and/or real ideas —“libertarian” or otherwise— to start with.

Well, this week I was beaten, for once, by political journalist John Rentoul, who scored 8/10. I scored 6/10. The first time in months that Rentoul has scored higher than me.
I did not know the answers to questions 1, 2, and 10, and also could not recall (though I knew it in the back of my mind) the answer to question 4.

Starmer, of course, is a barrister, and was in practice at one time at the criminal Bar, as well as later becoming both Queen’s Counsel and Director of Public Prosecutions.
In fact, “QC” is not quite the distinction it once was: 10% of the practising Bar now hold “letters patent” as QC. Still, let’s leave that aside.
I was always surprised at the naive mental attitude of many barristers in respect of the society in which they live and work. One often finds that barristers are not in step with the public. Often, also, the public view is the right one, and the barrister-view incorrect or too narrow.
For example, in the Tony Martin case 20+ years ago, barristers I knew were adamant that the defendant had to be guilty of murder because one of the “gypsies” (Irish tinker “travellers”) who attacked Martin’s farm (at night, miles from any help) had been shot in the back while fleeing. The general public backed Martin to the hilt. So did I, a barrister (at the time), but then I was never a typical grey barrister-drone.
Take another case, the EU Referendum. No doubt many barristers were pro-Brexit, but (anecdotally) most favoured Remain. The public, particularly the white English public, favoured Brexit (perhaps by 60 to 40).
Look at the terminally hopeless Change UK “party”. Packed with pro-Remain members of the Bar. Electorally? Nowhere.
My point is that the Bar is totally out of touch with public sentiment. MPs are also out of touch. Both intersecting groups are insulated by groupthink —as well as money— from the realities of UK life.
Starmer’s reported outburst does not surprise me in the slightest. A wealthy ex-lawyer, married to a Jewish woman, completely tied-up with the Jewish/Israel lobby, and who apparently (I read) owns, with his Jewish wife, a number of buy-to-let properties. Was listening to BBC PM and radio news for a while in the car; seems that the new “Covid” “variant”, from (we are told) Botswana, will now be renamed “Omicron” (the 15th letter of the Greek alphabet).
We have already had the “Indian” variant renamed “Delta”. Are we moving towards a (planned?) “final variant”, perhaps to be named “Omega” (the last letter of the Greek alphabet)? A few points: firstly, I have been saying for 10+ years that Britain should get closer to Russia in every way, thus —inter alia— preserving our energy security at affordable price levels.

Kim Leadbeater was once, and notionally still is, a physical education teacher, but I read that she has in fact lived in recent years mainly from monies provided by the “charity” set up as “Jo Cox Foundation”. I have investigated that “charity” in the past. Rather doubtful, to say the least.
Labour Party rules require candidates to have been Labour Party members for at least a year, but so desperate were Labour’s leaders to cash in (as they thought) on the “sympathy vote” around Jo Cox (who was assassinated by a dissident, 5 years ago), that the usual rules were bent or broken for Kim Leadbeater.
I am not so sure that the said “sympathy vote” exists, in fact. The 2016 rigged by-election (at which the other major System parties and UKIP declined to stand) gifted Tracy Brabin, the Labour candidate, a vote-share of over 85%, but that was not only in a situation where only minor or crank candidates opposed Labour, but also on a miserable turnout (25%).
As noted previously, George Galloway’s candidature may well sink Labour. There might be nothing between the two major System parties without Galloway in the contest. Even then, though, and even were Labour to win by a handful of votes, that would still signal that Labour is on the way out in strategic terms.
Hard to believe that this is permitted. So much for the so-called “land of freedom”…

Oh, “Bob from Brockley”…I had almost forgotten about that irritating and unpleasant Jew. He (real name Ben Gidley, a sociologist at London University: https://www.bbk.ac.uk/our-staff/profile/8746457/ben-gidley) used to troll me daily from his other Twitter accounts (notably “@inthesoupagain”) when I myself still had a Twitter account. His trolling went on for years, and on a daily basis. Some of his troll accounts were closed down by Twitter, though his “@antinazisunited” account is still, I think, there, though frozen for a couple of years now.
“BobfromBrockley” is basically a pro-Israel, pro-Jewish account on Twitter, though posing as “socialist” and pro-Labour Party, specializing in the pathetic and outworn slogans of the “socialist” past: “non pasaran!”, “Never Again!“, “Venceremos!” etc.

I am scarcely a fan or supporter of George Galloway, but it has to be admitted that, without his candidature at Batley and Spen, the by-election would be the usual meaningless (((controlled))) contest between two or three System parties. Now, at least one fake party (Labour) will probably lose a seat it has held for some time (since 1997). Galloway will then have achieved his objective, if only at the cost of giving a boost to the other main System party.
Though I despise the Conservative Party as it now is, I hope that Labour loses at Batley and Spen.

Labour is very much now again in the pocket of the Jewish lobby. The Conservative Party has long been so, especially since the 1990s. I suppose that is why George Galloway has a good chance of both retaining his deposit at Batley and Spen and also of denying the seat to Labour. Where will the Muslim vote go? Not to the Conservative Party, and now not much to the Labour Party, so that leaves Galloway as the likely recipient of quite a lot of the Muslim vote. He will probably get at least 5%, and may even get 10%.
35 years later, at the age of 70, Plisetskaya danced for one evening only in Almaty, Kazakhstan. I lived there at the time, and went to the ballet once per week (it was a fairly short walk from my home). My then girlfriend wanted to see Plisetskaya dance, even at such an age.
