The start of today’s blog post is written not long after the declaration at North Shropshire, which came around 0415 hrs.
The hour or so of TV news broadcast I have just seen was notable for the superiority of the Sky News coverage over that of the BBC (which I saw briefly before turning over). The Sky presenters were urbane, humorous, and effective, whereas the BBC presenter was a beardless youth who interviewed some BBC talking head who himself seemed odd, oddly alert (and fast-talking, though saying little of interest) at nearly four o’clock in the morning.
As to the result itself, this is “seismic” (as I predicted it would be if the result turned out to be a LibDem win, which I also, though tentatively, predicted); seismic not only for the Conservative Party but for Labour as well.
“Boris” and his pack of clowns are having to learn again the lesson of the French Revolution: you cannot say “let them eat cake” while you guzzle foie gras.
The Conservative Party is making the same mistake in England that the Labour Party made in Scotland, that of saying “where will they [the previously-loyal voters] go?…where can they go?” Labour thought that most Scottish voters would pretty much have to stick with Labour, because they had no alternative. Well, we know how that worked out. It worked for a long time, many decades in fact, but in the end those voters got sick of being taken for granted, and at things not improving for them. It is always dangerous to assume that people have no alternative. The Conservative Party has thought that, in respect of southern and/or rural English constituencies, for many years. There is no credible social-national party in England, though. The LibDems have always been the “dustbin” alternative. UKIP nearly broke through but was defeated by the FPTP semi-rigged electoral system, and the same was true a decade ago of the BNP (who also had the embedded Jew-Zionist element in the msm working against them).
People in North Shropshire did not vote for the LibDem candidate, as such, but against the “Conservative” one. Big difference.
CCHQ will no doubt refer to the relatively low turnout (46.3%, as against 67.9% in 2019) but part of that low turnout (I think much of that) can be attributed to formerly Conservative voters abstaining, unwilling to vote for the Conservative Party but also refusing to vote LibDem or Labour.
This by-election could go down in history, though it is unlikely to signal the start of (another) LibDem “revival”. Having said that, there are many constituencies where few would vote Labour but many might at least consider a LibDem. Add to that tactical voting by people who would really prefer a Labour MP, and it might add up to something significant.
The Liberal Party scored 31.6% (second place) in 1983; the LibDems’ best result was 25.3% in 1992. The 2021 by-election candidate, who scored only 10% a mere 2 years ago in 2019) has now received 47.2% of votes cast! Voting against (the clown’s candidate), not for the LibDem as such.
So what about the Conservative Party candidate? 31.6%. Well below even the 40.2% of 1997. This was a shout of anger against stupid “Boris” and his pack of clowns. The actual candidate was, in my view, poor: not fully English, and another “Conservative” lawyer (barrister), who was at one time an Army doctor. I am probably biased, but having met a few, I never trust a doctor who becomes a barrister (or a politician, thinking of David Owen, Hastings Banda, Papa Doc Duvalier, “Che” Guevara, Radovan Karadzic etc).
Having said all that, this was not a Neil Shastri-Hurst disaster but a “Boris” and general Conservative Party disaster.
Now, to Labour. Since North Shropshire was re-dedicated in 1983, and until the by-election, Labour has failed to come in second only four times, and only once (2010) since 1992.
It is all very well to talk about tactical voting, or Labour supporters “lending their votes” to the LibDem in order to beat the Con candidate. Yes; no argument on that, but is that the whole story? The 9.7% scored in the by-election was the lowest Labour vote ever in North Shropshire. Even in 1983, at the height of Thatcherism, and when Labour suffered its crushing national defeat under Michael Foot [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983_United_Kingdom_general_election], it still scored 14.7% (third place) in North Shropshire.
The conclusion must be that, while many formerly Labour votes went tactically (or otherwise) to the LibDem, many Labour voters just voted with their feet, if such be the bon mot, and stayed home. Labour scored 22.1% in 2019, and 31.1% in 2017 (both under Corbyn) in the constituency.
If this by-election result is bad for Boris-idiot, it is arguably at least as great a blow for Labour’s Jewish-lobby leadership under Keir Starmer. The problem is not just the “Israel first” aspect of Labour’s present leadership, but also the way in which the supposed “Opposition” keeps propping up “Boris” over various matters, such as the Online Harms Bill and, of more immediate political importance, the Covid/Omicron “panicdemic” “rules” and “laws”.
No-one really can have expected Labour to win the by-election, but to fall below 10% is a straw in the wind that (in my view) is significant.
The other parties that stood? Well, the Greens are perennial 5% (or below) candidates, except in Brighton Pavilion, so nothing of interest there. As for the new Farage pop-up, “Reform UK”, it only got a 3.7% vote. I think that people mostly see through Farage now, either as “controlled opposition” or simply as a moneygrasping “slithey tove” who (like “Boris”) just cannot be trusted.
The various small-c “conservative” “nationalist” parties, i.e. UKIP, Reform UK, Reclaim Party, Heritage, and Freedom Alliance, together scored only around 6%, far less than even my low expectations (I had thought 10%, and maybe, as protest, as much as 20%).
A final thought. Brexit is dead as an issue, politically. It has been very badly mishandled (with “Boris” in nominal charge, how could it not have been?), but we are out and we are staying out.

I think that (as someone unattached to any System party) I can be considered objective. I agree with Williamson inasmuch as the North Shropshire demonstrates (as I have blogged in the past) that Labour’s problem lies not in its leader(s) but in Labour itself. The fact is (as blogged previously) that Labour is now irrelevant, and if it were not for the UK’s FPTP voting system, would by now have all but disappeared.
Look at North Shropshire. In the general elections from 1997, through 2001, 2005, 2010, 2015, 2017, 2019, and now the 2021 by-election, Labour scored 36%, 35.2%, 25.9%, 18.1%, 19.9%, 31.1%, 22.1%, and now 9.7%.
The elections Labour have fought in North Shropshire since 1997 show an uneven pattern, but more of a decline than a rise. Since and including 2010, only once better than 22.1%, and that was 31.1% in 2017, the first general election Labour fought under Corbyn.
The present Government and the present Labour Opposition are symbiotically chained together, and their policies are in practice very similar.

People are sometimes seen writing in newspapers that Johnson wants to leave, to start penning rubbish newspaper columns again (and getting £250,000 a year for it, like he did before, when, inter alia, the Barclay Brothers were paying via the Daily Telegraph), and writing the sort of memoirs that attract million-pound advances and royalties. I think not. I myself lived for a while on a small Caribbean island, a British Overseas Territory (formerly —and at least equally-accurately— called a “British Dependent Territory”), in receipt of British aid: defence aid and naval patrols, and other aid. The “other aid”, when I was there (over 20 years ago) consisted partly of a new prison, a new court building, and a (then novel) online companies registry, so that people in the UK, USA etc could set up offshore companies and trusts; Britain also subsidized the island government.
Meanwhile, said island had very poor schools, a very poor hospital, and was generally ramshackle.
For me, the whole set-up was bizarre. That island had a population, actually resident on the island, of about 8,000 (officially, about 10,000). Despite its Lilliputian size, both demographically (smaller than Henley-on-Thames) and geographically, the island had a British Governor living in Government House, and a local parliament with a Government and Opposition in the Westminster mould. The local “Government” consisted of about 8 people, the “Opposition” consisted of one person only, and there were ex-officio members too. About a baker’s dozen, all in all. All salaried, by the way.
British people needed a special visa to live on the island (including a medical certificate and a police check!), and needed special permission to buy property, but the islanders had unrestricted right to live and work in the UK!
I am all in favour, or would be, of the British Empire, but those days are long gone, sadly.

As mentioned in yesterday’s blog post [https://ianrobertmillard.org/2021/11/27/diary-blog-27-november-2021/], I heard and later saw parts of Nick Robinson’s interview with Keir Starmer. Now, because it has been recycled several times on BBC World TV, I have seen most of the rest of it.
Overall impression? What an incredible “cuck”, in the American vernacular, that man is! Actually, his manner reminds me of another weasel, now deceased: Cecil Parkinson [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cecil_Parkinson]. There is even a passing physical resemblance:

I doubt, however, that Starmer is a shit, in the personal realm, on anything like (if at all) the level that Parkinson was:

I ought to add that I once knew a woman who was seated alongside Parkinson at a State banquet, some time not long after the scandal with Sara Keays. That woman said that Parkinson was quite sympathetic in his manner. Maybe he went down better with women; I always thought that he deserved a good kick.
Reverting to that Nick Robinson interview, obviously Starmer is not a clown and pathetic waste of space in the “Boris” Johnson mode, but actually I can see why he has not really cut through to the public, despite Johnson’s incredible lack of ability and competence.
Starmer, like a good mid-range lawyer, makes the right noises: Channel migration invasion must be dealt with by “cross-border co-operation“, and the “upstream causes” dealt with, said he.
What does that mean? “Upstream causes“? So…wars and socio-economic problems in places such as Iraq, Kurdistan, Syria, Afghanistan, black Africa etc? How will Starmer “deal with”, or cure, those? Answer came there none, methinks.
The only thing that Starmer looked at all passionate about, or even interested in, was so-called “anti-Semitism”, with the focus on his Jewish wife and half-Jewish children. I saw no real interest in (or policy concerning) the huge poverty that does exist in the UK in places, made worse by continuing mass immigration. Housing problems, the same.
It may be that Starmer does take an interest in those social, and so political, problems, but if so he failed to actually convey any great interest. That is of importance in a supposedly “democratic” political leader.
Hitler talked about “dirty democratic politicians“. We are now in a contest between the sheer incompetence and corruption of the “Boris” regime, and the —if you like— “managerial semi-socialism” of a Keir Starmer Labour offering. No wonder the opinion polls show a stalemate at present.

I have only known personally two people who have knowingly contracted “the virus”. Two people! In nearly 2 years! Both in 2020. One was my late —nothing to do with “Covid”, incidentally— and then 98 y o mother-in law, who only knew she had “the virus” because she was routinely tested while in hospital for another, and completely different, problem. She had no symptoms, despite her age, infirmity, and existing medical conditions, and was discharged a few weeks later. Like so many others , she only contracted “Covid” because she was staying in one of the NHS’s shambolic hospitals.
The other person I know who has had “Covid-19” is my 20-something Australian niece, living in London, who was advised to take paracetamol, drink water, and rest! So much for the (unused) emergency “Nightingale” hospitals etc! She lost taste and smell for a week or so, had a few other symptoms, but soon made a full recovery without the need for any NHS medical assistance at all, unless you count the “take paracetamol and drink water” “advice” (given over the telephone).

As my blog’s regular readers will know, I usually steer clear of Scottish internal politics. I do not purport to know a great deal about Scottish politics, and have never even been there. Having said that, the SNP and its peculiar cranky little leader, Nicola Sturgeon, cannot be entirely ignored.
The SNP, which had almost no MPs until six years ago (it took about 40 years just to get one), took off in 2015, and is still in precarious power north of the border.
The SNP benefits from not being Conservative, Labour, or LibDem. Simply that. Scotland was once rock-solid Labour, but a few years of Blair’s pathetic, smug, and dishonest henchman, Jim Murphy (and general trends), put paid to that. Labour now has only one Westminster MP from Scotland.
As the Spectator article notes, only half of the Scottish electorate (in fact, at present, less than half— 47%) favour Independence, the number one policy of the SNP.
Surely Scotland could not and would not break away from the UK if only a tiny majority voted to leave the Union?
In reality, what if even , say, 57% favoured Independence? Would that really be enough to tear Scotland from England? It might be far more divisive in Scotland than the Leave result was in the UK overall in 2016.

Not attractive to most British, certainly English, voters. My assessment of the public mood now is that most people realize what others (including me) have been saying for years, i.e. that “Boris” is a total idiot, a total incompetent but, at the same time, that Keir Starmer-Labour has really nothing to offer people but a superficial “seriousness”.
The quandary facing the —specifically— English voter is that there is really nowhere to go, vote-wise. There is no social-national party that is not a joke, just System parties and some controlled-opposition Farage or “Farageist” “conservative” joke party such as Reform Party.
I said, two years ago (on this blog) that any opposition to “Boris” and his rule would have to come from within the Conservative Party itself. It is now starting to happen but in a very limited way so far. Was listening to BBC PM and radio news for a while in the car; seems that the new “Covid” “variant”, from (we are told) Botswana, will now be renamed “Omicron” (the 15th letter of the Greek alphabet).
We have already had the “Indian” variant renamed “Delta”. Are we moving towards a (planned?) “final variant”, perhaps to be named “Omega” (the last letter of the Greek alphabet)? Will that “final variant” be the one which (much natural immunity having been erased) will kill most of the world’s population (by design)?

The rambling “speech” offered up to the CBI by “Boris” [A. B. Johnson] yesterday seems to have finally woken up even (most of) the woodentopped denizens of Daily Mail-land.
Take a look at the readers’ comments section! It seems that the readers have been unimpressed both by Johnson’s car crash yesterday and by Brummer’s ludicrous article.
“Boris” is of course part-Jew, and the Jewish lobby (aka, more or less, Israel lobby) has always been favourable to him, even when disrespecting him: see the video showing peculiar Israeli political intelligence bod Shai Masot [below]. Masot likes that “Boris” is “solid on Israel” (he even worked for a couple of weeks on a kibbutz when aged about 18), but still says that “you know, Boris…he is an idiot...”
While a minority of people (some, like me, mere outside commentators, others those who have known “Boris” well for decades, people like Max Hastings, Nicholas Soames, John Major) have opposed “Boris” for many years, the mass of voters have been fooled by the constant msm puffing of “Boris” as “Prime Minister in Waiting”. That sort of nonsense has been going on for 10-15 years, and influenced the masses, especially the elderly members of the Conservative Party.
Reality did not break in even when “Boris” made, in the old phrase, “a pig’s ear” of being Foreign Secretary (useless). Well, now the “idiot” has been Prime Minister, or posing as such, for just on 2 years. Look at the result(s)!
“Boris” has given up trying to appear hugely intelligent by quoting little bits of rote-learned Latin or Greek, or trawling the O.E.D. for obscure English words that almost no-one ever uses. That sort of nonsense is now well past its sell-by date.

The problem for British voters is that, even if “Boris” is removed, the same or similar government will drag on; and even if equally-unfit (and misnamed) “Labour” were to form some kind of government, Keir Starmer is also in the pocket of the same lobby, is a member of Labour Friends of Israel, and is married to a Jewish woman. Indeed, Starmer’s children are being brought up as if full-Jew, and Starmer celebrates Jewish religious holidays (I have been unable to discover whether he wears a little skullcap at such events, or indeed whether that would be mandated).
I am unsure as to why “Boris” is still being supported by some Zionists; can they really believe that the scammer can just carry on scamming the British people? The rest of the Cabinet of clowns is also completely pro-Jew and pro-Israel. Anyway, the Lobby has Starmer-Labour as its fallback position now.

England, my England
This afternoon, for reasons too trivial and unnecessary to mention, I drove through a fairly unspoiled and rare part of the South of England. Mostly on unclassified roads, and mostly through a great estate.
The beneficial effects of careful estate management were evident: beautifully trimmed hedgerows, and massive trees which must have been centuries-old, and lining the roads devoid of traffic (I saw scarcely another vehicle). The only hazard on those roads consisted of silly young pheasant, too silly to get out of the way, though I managed to avoid hitting any.
An all-too-rare example of England as it once was, and now hardly ever is.
Good grief! Jefferson?! How long can it be before America’s cities are just collections of ruins and piles of rubble, with feral non-whites crawling all over them?

Brave indeed in someone who showed himself ignorant of basic history, geography etc :
Can you believe that, if Labour can form a government in a couple of years —admittedly still unlikely—, thick-as-two-short-planks David Lammy might actually end up as Attorney-General, or even as Secretary of State for Justice and Lord Chancellor? At present, Lammy is Shadow Lord Chancellor! Previous actual Lord Chancellors have included such names as Cardinal Wolsey, Sir Thomas More, Sir Francis Bacon, Richard Haldane, Lord Hailsham etc. Admittedly not all previous incumbents were distinguished, beyond their bare office, but…Lammy??

There are many ways in which the UK is, in the colloquial, “screwed”, and one of those is the sheer lack of quality apparent in so many MPs. Lammy is just one of dozens, probably hundreds, of examples. A total deadhead.

Australia, which when I was there as a schoolboy in the late 1960s, was an entirely white European, mainly Anglo country (yes, there were some Aboriginals too, mainly in the bush, especially in the Northern Territory), has now a white European (including Southern European) population around 90% of the whole. Still higher than the UK and some other European countries, but for how long? Inexorable (?) change.
