Anyone who thinks that the likely Starmer-Labour government from 2024-25 will be better than the bunch of clowns currently in office is being very very silly.

Having said that, the only way to (“peacefully”) destabilize the failed two-party rigged system in the UK is to destroy at least one major party. The “Conservatives” have volunteered, by their corrupt ineptitude, to be that party. At the upcoming General Election, all that is required is for people to punish the Con Party by not voting for it. Either abstain, or vote anywhere but Con.

Tice, of Reform UK, is scarcely my kind of politician, but he has caught the mood. In a recent interview (a few days ago), Tice made the necessary point: punish (his word) the Con Party, no matter whether voting for Reform UK means more Labour MPs. Labour will almost certainly “win” anyway, and almost certainly with a large majority. Think strategically. Wipe out the Con Party by either abstaining or by voting anywhere but Con.

Skidmore tries to present an “intellectual” front, but not convincingly. He does not have the horsepower, when all is said and done.

Skidmore, though now claiming to have resigned on a matter of principle, had himself earlier said (in 2022) why he would not be continuing as MP:

“On 26 November 2022, Skidmore announced that he would be standing down at the next general election, later stating in Parliament that ‘my constituency of Kingswood is being formally abolished in the boundary changes and there is nowhere for me to go.’[37][38][39]” [Wikipedia].

Translation: he has been both useless and disliked as MP and junior minister, and no other constituency would want him once his present one is abolished. In any case, there may well be few Conservative Party seats left after 2024.

Skidmore has spun getting kicked out of Parliament (by the time of the 2024 General Election) as a principled resignation, no doubt hoping to be given some lucrative and maybe environment-oriented quango appointment later. He might have been better to wait to see whether he would be in line for a peerage. No chance of that now.

Anyway, he’s off. Good.

It will be interesting to see what happens at the by-election, assuming that there is one before the 2024 General Election.

…and they deserve political leaders and parties not in hock to the international Jewish lobby and/or Israel lobby.

That weasel Starmer, with his almost shamefaced (as well as shameful) self-serving lack of moral compass —albeit concealed behind a facade of faux-“decency”— reminds me very much of Cecil Parkinson [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cecil_Parkinson].

The little Indian money-juggler must be well-aware that most voters (even former Conservative voters) view the state of the country as terrible and getting worse.

If a general election is held “now” or soon, i.e. sometime in Spring 2024, the Conservative Party MP-cadre may be all but wiped out— possibly with only about 50 MPs left, though maybe 100 or, if Sunak is exceptionally lucky, 150.

If, on the other hand, the 2024 General Election is delayed until the winter of 2024, the state of the UK will almost inevitably be yet worse, and therefore the popularity of the (supposedly) governing Con Party will be even lower.

The usual stresses on NHS, transport etc will be even more severe, and the international situation may place greater stresses on the economy. Added to those factors, the migration-invasion will have continued for another year (nearly). On those premises, the Con Party may face not only the possibility but the probability that it will be reduced to something like 50 MPs.

It seems to me, therefore, that the GE will take place in late Summer or early Autumn, before the cold weather again arrives. So about 6-9 months from now. That gives time for Labour to make mistakes.

Even so, it seems unlikely (even in the “glorious uncertainty” of the UK electoral system) that the Conservative Party can hope for an MP-cadre much if at all higher than 100; certainly no more than 150. 150 would be bad for the Con Party (similar, though worse, to 1997 and 2001), whereas 100 or fewer would be seen as disastrous.

For me, perhaps for others in the social-national milieu, the main thing is to break the whole binary electoral system, which presents, every 4-5 years, a false choice to the electorate.

If the Conservative Party is trashed in the 2024 General Election, Labour will be able to form an elected dictatorship even worse than under Blair and Brown. That will lead to popular discontent (when it fails to address the several major challenges facing the UK), with the people even more eager to embrace a new way forward under a new political party or movement, and with the small rump Conservative Party having no credibility as an alternative government.

Ha ha! Not that I myself would do the same (regular readers of the blog will know that I recently joined the convict classes, having made the mistake of thinking that England still had left at least some free speech or freedom of expression).

The American incident reported upon above reminds me of another incident, which happened when I was a Bar pupil (trainee barrister). That must have been in 1992.

The case involved two West Indians alleged to have robbed a petrol station in NW London, using a machete. They had been arrested the same evening, not very long afterwards, in the (alleged) getaway car.

There were oddities in the evidence. The car had been searched following the stop. No money or weapons had been found. Later, at the police station, a further search revealed a wad of cash. A week later, a further search “discovered” a container full of coins (allegedly from the filling station) and a machete. The allegation from the defendants was that everything had been planted.

My pupilmaster represented one defendant, about 6 ft 6 inches and massively built. A little twerp I recalled from the Inns of Court School of Law (“Bar School”) represented the other defendant, a menacing dreadlocked type calling to mind the drug-crazed “Mai Mulele” rebels of the Congo of the mid-1960s (see https://www.nytimes.com/1964/05/31/archives/rebels-in-congo-disdain-bullets-150-die-as-incantation-fails-to.html).

In fact, though I did not know said little twerp barrister, I recognized him, having been on the Bar Finals course with him (and hundreds of others) in 1987-88. I however had gone to the USA a while after that, so had not been Called to the (English) Bar until 1991; I also qualified at and was Admitted to the Bar of the State of New York.

All this took place at Wood Green Crown Court. As a Bar pupil, in 1992, I was there fairly frequently.

Both defendants were in custody, having been refused bail prior to trial.

The evidence against the defendants was non-existent, save for that “found” in the car. There was no cctv evidence, no fingerprint evidence, no DNA evidence (this was in 1992, and such evidence was still in its infancy). The (apparently) diminutive Indian cashier in the petrol station had been terrified, and gave no testimony. Neither did the defendants.

Despite the paucity of evidence, the jury came back with “Guilty” verdicts. There was a moment of silence. A member of the Metropolitan Police Flying Squad then gave the judge a rundown of the previous most relevant convictions of the defendants. The judge knew most of that already, as did Counsel, but of course the jury did not. There were gasps as the long list of increasingly-serious convictions was read out, topped finally by the information that the defendants still faced another upcoming trial in which they would stand accused (at the Old Bailey) of conspiring to rob building society branches, armed with sawn-off shotguns.

The judge listened patiently while, for 20 minutes, little twerp barrister attempted to mitigate. My pupilmaster declined to attempt any mitigation. The judge then sentenced the two to exactly the same term— 5 years each.

Another moment of silence preceded an explosion from the dock (behind us) as the defendants shouted out (to the jury) “YOU DOGS! YOU FUCKING WHITE DOGS!“.

The jury members (in fact not all white, there being one black woman and at least one Indian) quailed; I thought that one woman jury member might faint or cry out, though she bravely sat it out. The little twerp Counsel looked nervously over his shoulder, as did my pupilmaster. I had also looked round as the outburst had happened, but now pretended to be writing (in order to seem stoic, I think, pointless and perhaps ludicrous as that was).

The defendants then tried to fight their way out of and over the dock. The judge pressed his concealed button but stayed seated. His face was that “Judicial Livid” (red/purple) that I later saw once or twice at the High Court when a judge did not wholly appreciate my argument…

After a lot of banging, thudding, and swearing, the defendants were subdued by the two prison guards accompanying them. Other court security people then entered the courtroom. The defendants were taken down (to the cells below).

Just a day in the life, as they say.

The cultural fall of the USA has been absolutely incredible.

The contamination, in the UK, has reached deeply into the police, the legal professions etc.

I shall be surprised if the Conservative Party has more than 100 seats this time next year; if it has over 150, I shall be astonished. If it has fewer than 50, I shall only be mildly surprised. I think between 50 and 100.

Shannelle Farrier was left in excruciating pain and needed her eyes washed out with several litres of water at hospital after brute David Nicholson threw the chemicals in her face. The shocking assault was captured on CCTV in the hall way of the 19-year-old’s flat in Newcastle.

She said: “I felt burning in my eyes and my mouth. I was screaming in pain yelling that something was in my eyes. I honestly thought that I was going to die and screaming out for help. It was instant, I didn’t know what was happening. They did it without rhyme or reason.

“There was a strong smell of bleach. We thought it was an acid attack. I eventually ended up unconscious. My friend had rang an ambulance who turned up in protective masks and hauled me in the shower to wash off as much of the substance as possible.“

Shannelle was rushed to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary where her eyes were swilled with litres of water to return them to a normal Ph level. She spent a total of five hours being treated before she returned home. She said: “I felt violated. The attack happened in my own home.

“After that, I went to stay with my mother for months. For me, last Christmas was totally ruined. I spent the entire time worrying about my sight. I couldn’t leave my home, I had to quit my college course as I was too nervous to be outside. I was constantly looking over my shoulder.

Nicholson, of Hauxley Drive, Gosforth, Newcastle, was arrested a week after the attack. He later admitted assault. He was sentenced to 20 months, suspended for two years with rehabilitation requirements and an alcohol abstinence requirement at Newcastle Crown Court earlier this week (December 20).

The thug was also given a five-year restraining order to protect the victim. Shannelle has now slammed the sentence, claiming he got off lightly after he intended to cause harm.“

I happened to watch a Celebrity Weakest Link show today on TV. As usual, the “celebrities” mostly knew almost nothing. The comedian Joe Pasquale was a deserving winner, but it was funny to see Jew-Zionist “activist” Tracy-Ann Oberman [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tracy-Ann_Oberman] not only struggle in places with fairly simple questions but also get voted off, and then, it seemed to me, fume (though looking as if she was trying to disguise it, at least a little) about having been voted off.

Also, I may be wrong, but it seemed to me that she looked drunk as she walked off (the so-called “Walk of Shame”). I do not say that she was drunk, but she certainly looked (to me) as if she was, looking at her gait. Just my honest opinion based on what I saw, of course.

It looks more and more to me that there must come a time when, in the words of Nietzsche, there will have to be “a revaluation of all values“…whatever it takes.

We, eg in the UK, are now living in a largely alien and hostile culture.

The Conservative Party— a completely useless and clueless party, whose MPs are almost all just incredibly self-serving, and almost all incredibly stupid. On top of that, 80% of them belong to Conservative Friends of Israel.

Not that the Labour Party is hugely better. The only thing to do, for voters at the 2024 General Election, is to try to destabilize the fake binary system by making sure that at least one major party (i.e. the Con Party) crashes and burns, even at the expense of having to endure, for a while, a kind of elected dictatorship under Labour idiots.

I think that most voters, even former Con Party voters, have now written off the Conservative Party, and will not vote for it. Many, though, will never vote Labour either. It is an open question how many will simply abstain. Somehow I think, at the GE, not so many. They may seek out protest votes. Reform UK is plainly controlled opposition and pro-Israel etc, but will probably get a much higher vote than many are predicting; certainly 10%, possibly 15%, and I would not completely rule out 20%, depending on events.

Only a social-national movement can save our society, but at present it does not exist in any serious or hard-hitting way.

Mere numbers are only the starting-point. The vital point is, if there is a massive nuclear exchange between, mainly, the USA and Russia, what happens? One of today’s warheads probably does almost as much damage as two, or ten, or more, if all hit more or less the same place.

Obviously, were there to be such an exchange, the USA, as a functioning state, would more or less cease to exist. The same is true of Russia. As for the UK, it might be wiped out not only as a state, but as a nation (taking it still to be a nation), because of the small geographic size of the UK as compared to the two major nuclear powers.

Farage’s betrayal of his own Brexit Party in 2019 will not, I think, be repeated next year at the 2024 General Election.

Of course, Reform UK is “controlled opposition”, but if it can contribute to the trashing and binning of the “Conservative” Party, and so to the destabilization of the rigged two-party system in the UK, then good. I hope that it does well, on that basis.

I just saw a TV news report showing an Israeli drone attack on Gazans at a street food market. People just trying to buy whatever little food is around.

Not a “mistake” or “error” by a bomber pilot. A targeted attack, by a drone operator sitting in a chair somewhere in Israel.

“They” are really going too far, but then “they” always do, historically. They then whine about the backlash, and cast themselves as “victims”. Wait until Israel falls, and “they” pour out as “refugees” to the USA, Canada, Europe etc, portraying themselves as victims yet again.

Russia will win. Russia must win.

“They” have already partly-caused two world wars; will there soon be a third? The right conclusions must be drawn, whether or not that happens.

Interesting. I recall living in Sydney, Australia, aged 10, when the 1967 Six Day War happened. I also recall that (as far as I can remember) the TV news was entirely biased towards the Israeli side. Of course, I was unaware that there even existed another side to the story.

I have to admit that I have always found the idea of secret tunnels quite compelling. The KGB had a specific directorate specializing in tunnelling, though one finds little printed about it.

In the case of the Gaza tunnels, we are told that they extend for more miles overall than the London Underground, which has 250 miles of track, much of which, however, is overground. About 110 miles of the London Underground is actually below ground-level.

On that basis, only a small part, maybe 5-10 miles, or <10%, of the Gaza tunnels have been explored or destroyed by the invading Israeli forces so far. Information is obviously being restricted at present.

It makes me wonder whether similar tunnels do not also penetrate Israeli state territory from Lebanon or elsewhere, tunnels perhaps so far underground that they are undetectable.

Most of them are pretty useless.

Something that I, a one-time resident of the tri-state area (and qualified New York attorney and counsellor-at-law) never imagined I should see.

…and about 20,000 Gazan civilians, about half of whom were under 18, and a quarter of whom were babies, or small or young children.

If a prosecution under Communications Act 2003, s.127, occurs —and despite the Law Commission having recommended repeal of that as “bad law”— anything highly critical or satirical is now deemed “offensive”, and in practice as “grossly offensive” (and so unlawful).

It is a Kafka-esque farce which I saw at first-hand as defendant in such a case only last month.

The law in this area gives carte blanche to, especially, the usual malicious and politically-motivated Jew-Zionist whiners, such as the so-called “Campaign Against Antisemitism” or “CAA”, with the police and CPS as dupes.

Talking point

Political drones and mouthpieces such as Indian money-juggler Sunak are effectively signed-up to the Coudenhove-Kalergi Plan, and the destruction or deformation of what is left of our white European societies (in Europe, in North America, in Australasia etc).

Statements such as the above are designed purely to mitigate the upcoming destruction of the Conservative Party (again, what is left of it) at the 2024 General Election.

If Sunak can get the nationwide Con Party vote up from its present (opinion poll) 20%, to 30% at the 2024 General Election, then the Con Party will survive, as will the fraudulent UK binary political system.

Note, though, who Sunak (impliedly) blames for the migration invasion— Putin! Not the “LibLabCon”-men and women who have encouraged non-white immigration to the UK for the past 50-60 years, and not “them” (((the usual suspects))), aka (((the “you know who”))), but Putin, the System’s current favourite msm ogre.

In any case, the Rwanda policy, if ever implemented, would deal with only a fraction of the “illegal” invaders, and none of the “legal” ones, so would only reduce the migration-invasion from maybe a million invaders per year (700,000+ “net”) to maybe 950,000 (650,000+ “net”), at best.

[I think that that should be “Garda” not “Gardai“, but I may be mistaken].

Incidentally, last Friday I was in a medium-size UK city. Not far from the centre of the city. A street with a Tesco Express, a Starbucks, estate agencies, various professional offices etc. All that, and —at about 0800 hrs— a number of people still sleeping in the streets in sleeping bags, blankets etc. Terrible (both in itself and aesthetically).

I had a mediocre cappuccino and croissant in the nearby Starbucks, until the horrible “music” drove me out. I thought to give a coin to a fellow in a shop doorway who had evidently woken up while I was in the Starbucks place (it hardly merited the title, “cafe”). A white Englishman aged maybe 30-something, or 40, maybe an ex-soldier, who growled “thanks, mate” as I pressed a £2 coin into his hand, suggesting that he buy himself a drink (probably not the best thing I could have said).

As I walked away, and about 50 feet further on, a black woman without most of her teeth (drug abuser?) accosted me and started on a story about how she wanted to get into a shelter but needed £20. I told her that I did not have £20, but felt in my pocket for another coin; a 50p was the only one. I gave it to her, and she took my modest offering without a word of thanks as I departed.

Britain’s cities in 2023…

My point (apart from just reporting what I experienced) is that neither of the two people I encountered was a migrant-invader (both spoke with British accents), and both were sleeping in the streets, in winter. Had they been migrant-invaders, they would have been in hotels paid for by the Government (i.e. by UK taxpayers). They would have been sheltered, fed, and given pocket money of (?) about £40 a week (the exact amount seems to vary), as well as provided with transport, medical and dental services, even online services.

How can this be right? Also, if another million immigrants arrive in 2024, and another in 2025 (etc), and even if “only” about 50,000 a year are small boat invaders asking for or demanding help, how is this situation sustainable? Answer— it isn’t.

[Update, 18 December 2023: it occurs to me that readers may object that the black woman mentioned was also a kind of migrant-invader, even if born in the UK. True in essence, but my point was that she had not just “got off the boat”; I should have been clearer].

Francois: We Are Heading for a Defeat

However, when pressed by the interviewer as to policies he thinks will win the support of the voters, all Francois could come up with were two: getting rid of inheritance tax, and spending more on defence.

Inheritance tax only impacts a tiny number of people anyway, all of whom already vote Conservative.

As to Defence, which Francois (military background— a year reading War Studies for a Master’s degree, and 3-4 years in the TA, final rank Lieutenant) thinks will be a huge issue next year, that again is not something which most voters think is important.

Our armed forces are now quite weak, and very small, but our traditional enemies (Germany, France, maybe Denmark and the Netherlands —going back 300 years or more—) are now not enemies or potential enemies. The larger potential opponents (Russia, China) are so powerful that the UK could not think of fighting them, and anyway they are far away, and the UK has only limited air/sea transport capability.

The armed forces have shown themselves incapable even of preventing migration-invasion, let alone any real one (which would come from…where?).

For me, Francois’ remarks are a measure of how out of touch with the people the Conservative Party now is. He has no idea; the Conservative Party has no idea.

Listening to Francois trying to express what his preference for “overall narrative” of his party would be just underlines the sheer mediocrity (at best) of so many MPs now.

Davis, who trained with the SAS before entering parliament, said it appeared the attackers were “very vicious” and addicted to the drug spice.”

David Davis is one of the very few MPs for whom I have any time (albeit with reservations). Britain might have been in a better place had he, and not David Cameron-Levita-Schlumberger, become leader of the Conservative Party. He has always struck me as basically honest and decent.

Come to think of it, were Davis —even now, aged 74— to stand for the Con Party leadership against Rishi Sunak, he might have a serious chance.

Moreover, Davis is the kind of straight bat that might appeal to many voters, and so at least take the gloss off Labour’s expected triumphal procession to elected dictatorship in 2024. Who knows? He could possibly even do better than that.

Davis’ background from when he was at university (late Sixties and early Seventies) to when he became an MP (1987) is hard to make out from the Wikipedia entry [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Davis_(British_politician)], not least because he seems to have not only worked for Tate & Lyle for 17 years but also to have spent a further 4-5 years in business-related student activity during the same years. Still, his background is basically solid, not a confection of lies and talked-up nothing, unlike the CVs of so many Conservative Party MPs.

Benton would have been unseated anyway, at the expected 2024 General Election. Prior to his victory in 2019, Blackpool South had been a Labour-held seat since 1997: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackpool_South_(UK_Parliament_constituency)#Elections_in_the_2010s.

Benton was formerly a primary school teacher. I suppose that he will have to return to that, and will have to regard his unmerited 4 years as an MP as just having been a good opportunity to rip off as much money as possible.

This is yet another blow to the Conservative Party, re-emphasizing the lack of probity in many of its MPs. Quite a few will, like Benton, be looking for new jobs by 2025.

In my view, Lewis Goodall has missed the point. Recent polling has made plain that the majority, indeed nearly 70%, of those planning on voting for Reform UK have no expectation of Reform UK winning in their own constituencies, or maybe in any constituency. They are going to vote for Reform UK as a “**** you!” snarl to the System, to the way things are going generally in the UK (especially England), and against mass immigration and migration invasion.

I see parallels to the 2016 Brexit Referendum. One man, walking his dog (in Blackpool or nearby, I think), was interviewed in the street at the time. He was asked about the possible negative economic consequences of Brexit, but answered (brilliantly, in a way) “I don’t care about all that. It’s only me and the dog, anyway…“.

The msm journalists did not understand that man’s attitude, thought it a result of stupidity, or “poor education” (because he, presumably, had not acquired some useless Mickey Mouse “degree” from a “university” of which no-one had ever heard).

In fact, that man was saying that he was not “aspirational”, did not care about the inflated supposed value of some other people’s houses, did not have sons and daughters called “Josh” or “Olivia” wanting to take (and being able, financially, to take) unpaid “internships” at the EU Commission or Milan fashion houses etc, that he never travelled by helicopter or private plane, and had no share portfolio.

That man was also saying that he had seen Britain decline in almost every way in the past 40+ years, and had seen it invaded by untold millions of unwanted immigrants.

As I tweeted at the time, “Brexit means more than Brexit“.

People voting Reform UK (and I myself do not “support” Reform UK, partly because it is yet more pro-Israel, pro-Jewish lobby “controlled opposition”, partly because it is not a social-national party, partly because it supports finance-capitalism) do not expect Reform UK to win many, or even any, Commons seats. They want to say “NO!” to the general state of this country.

As for the pleas of the Conservative Party that voting Reform UK will not get Reform UK MPs elected but simply allow Labour to win more seats, my judgment is that intending Reform UK voters want the Conservative Party MPs to be voted out, and they want the Con Party to be stamped on hard. Why? Because they feel that they have been both betrayed and let down generally…and they have been.

Bristol Crown Court heard numerous motorists witnessed the horror and tried to stop Rendall by beeping and flashing their lights at his red Nissan Micra. But he refused to get help for Daisy and later left her to die in a cow barn. 

Daisy was eventually found by police but was left severely injured in the incident on the afternoon of April 17 this year and had to be put to sleep nine days later.

Rendall was sentenced today to eight months in prison, suspended for two years, 300 hours of unpaid work alongside a 20 year disqualification from having or keeping animals with the exception of cattle, and fish.

“A British advertising firm has allegedly pulled a billboard campaign that pictured  Israelis kidnapped by Hamas on October 7 following ‘an unusual volume of complaints from the public’.

The campaign was organised by the Israeli Embassy…

London Lites terminated what was meant to be a two-week ad campaign on boards throughout the capital after just six days, Jewish News reports.

The company reportedly said that it had received thousands of complaints in response to the posters, which picture Israeli hostages and feature the now-famous hashtag ‘Bring Them Home Now’.

The Israeli Embassy in London said in response to the adverts being taken down: ‘We regret that the “London Lites” company caved to the threats of an extreme minority in the UK, which forcefully tries to limit freedom of expression. 

‘The Embassy is considering further steps against the company.“

So the Israeli Embassy deprecates “the threats of an extreme minority in the UK, which forcefully tries to limit freedom of expression.“

Ha. They should talk to their collaborators in the so-called “Campaign Against Antisemitism” [“CAA”] in that case. That malicious cabal is engaged in a persistent campaign to do just that— to limit and kill off the freedom of expression of British people, as witness my own persecution over the past decade, culminating recently in actual prosecution, a prosecution procured by political pressure exerted by the “CAA”, and the Jew-Zionist lobby generally, on the CPS, right up to the level of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Indeed, it is the “CAA” that has recently had vans driving around London carrying large illuminated posters of the Gaza hostages. The “CAA” is a major collaborator of the Israeli Embassy in this and other activities.

If I say so myself, who shouldn’t, that blog post has held up rather well over the intervening 5-6 years. I hope that more people see it (there were a couple of hits today) before the (((usual suspects))) manage to use the suborned legal system to censor or even temporarily remove the blog.

“Why” is easy to understand. Pseudo-liberal “democracy” has not been providing the people with what they need. However, “populism” without social nationalism becomes merely a fake, a front for those who are under the thumb of Israel and the Jewish lobby. Think Farage, Tice, “Reform UK”. What think you, Monsieur Goodwin? Oh…

It is even possible that the Conservative Party will get a nationwide vote-share of well below 25%, or even below 20%, as even formerly die-hard Con voters are turned off by the sheer ineptitude of the bunch of clowns pretending to be a Cabinet and Government.

Electoral Calculus [https://www.electoralcalculus.co.uk/userpoll.html] puts the Con Party result for 2024, on the above premises (based on a 16% Con vote), as a total of 39 MPs (even a 20% vote might give the Con Party only 59 MPs).

Much, of course, depends on whether the Labour vote holds up or not. If it falls below 40% nationwide, the result might be very different.

Still, Goodwin must be right as far as “historic defeat” is concerned. In 1945, the Con Party was left with 197 MPs; in 1997 only 165. At present, it seems as if the 2024 result might be even more striking: somewhere between 25 and 125 MPs.

Regular readers of the blog know that I have little time (if any) for either Johnson or Farage. However, looking objectively at the claims made in that Mail report, I can see why many Conservative Party MPs might favour the idea of “Boris”-idiot and Farage joining up to save the Con Party.

At present, the Con Party is between 19% and 24% in the polls. Even the higher figure would reduce the number of Con Party MPs from 350 to about 101, depending on the exact detail of where the votes were to fall; the lower figure might reduce the number of Con Party MPs to around 40 or so.

Were there to be an alliance between Johnson and Farage, and if both stood for election as Con candidates in 2024, the Con Party would still suffer a big hit, but might poll at around 30%. In addition, Reform UK would presumably stand down in terms of the General Election, thus gifting a great many marginal seats to the Con Party.

According to my use of Electoral Calculus, that might leave the Conservative Party with about 187 seats, about half what they now command, but not a wipeout: better than their performance in both 1997 (165) and 2001 (166), and not far off that of 2005 (198).

The Reform UK officials say this, though:

“But Reform Party officials said their aim was to kill off the Conservatives. One told The Mail on Sunday: ‘When Nigel gets back [from the ITV reality show] he’s going to start dominating the agenda. Within about six to eight weeks we’ll be polling in the high teens, and the Tories will start to slip below 20 per cent.

‘At that point between five and ten MPs will realise the game’s up, and defect to us. Then it’s game over. We’re looking at the last majority Tory administration of our lifetime. We’re going to destroy them.”

Would Farage even go for such a deal? I think that he might. He betrayed his Brexit Party candidates in 2019, after all.

I would not rule out the possibility that he might like a deal of the sort suggested, both for political and personal reasons. He might be able to sell it to his present supporters.

After all, if the Con Party were still to lose the 2024 (maybe January 2025) General Election fairly badly, Farage —if an MP by then— could put himself forward as candidate for Leader at the subsequent Con Party leadership election. The cat really would be among the pigeons then…
