I was sentenced, as noted on those blog posts above, about 18 months ago. My financial penalty (£735 altogether) was one-third crowdfunded by a few generous donors, the rest paid off in several monthly instalments.
My “9-month community order” (nominally “15 rehabilitation days” over the 9 months) amounted in fact to half a dozen or so brief meetings over about 5 months, and with a rather charming young lady from the Probation Service.
Average length of meeting was about 40 minutes; one, I think the first one, was a couple of hours, most were far shorter than 40 minutes (one was about 15 mins). General chat mixed in with a bit of armchair psychology. Naturally, such methods are designed for people (often drunks or drug abusers) convicted of bashing their noisy neighbours, or of having “had it away” with a trolley full of supermarket produce, not for someone accused of having made politically-disapproved-of statements…
In the end, my “probation” (to use the older term) was cut short for reasons that were never explained. I presume that the probation people are swamped by real crime as society slides to destruction, and thus decided that it was pointless (as it was, of course) to have me coming in every few weeks for half an hour.
The free speech trial was held in November 2023, nearly 2 years ago. Sentencing was in mid-March 2024. My last “probation” meeting was in early September 2024, so already over a year ago. It already seems as if it happened years ago.
The aim of the malicious “Campaign Against Antisemitism”, via its self-styled “Director of Investigations and Enforcement”, one “Slitherman” (shall we call him?), who attended both trial and sentencing, and whom I publicly named and shamed in open court, was to stop publication of this blog by having me prosecuted by a compliant police “farce” and the “Clown” Prosecution Service. People are always saying how wonderfully talented Fry is. I cannot see it, for all his fame, acting career etc. In Jeeves and Wooster, that wonderful adaptation of P.G. Wodehouse, Fry was admittedly very good as Jeeves, but Hugh Laurie was the star, really. In Gosford Park, Fry’s police inspector ruined, in my view, the atmosphere, by importing a kind of cheap comedy into the film. As for his film about Oscar Wilde, it was nowhere as good (or as historically accurate) as the 1960 film starring Peter Finch, The Trials of Oscar Wilde. Iran’s most deadly missiles may not be capable of interception.
It may be (speculating wildly, so be it) that the Iranians, often though not always noted for their subtlety, have been using their “pawns” (drones and slower missiles) as sacrificial pawns (as in chess), with the idea of exhausting the Israeli supply of ground-to-air defensive missiles. Then, when the Israelis run out of countermeasures such as Iron Dome and Arrow missiles, the Iranians will launch the real stuff…
That occurs to me as I recall the arguably most famous game of the Soviet chess grandmaster Mikhail Tal (a Jew, incidentally), who sacrificed almost every piece he had on the board, even his queen, in order to deliver the final brilliant and inescapable line of moves that led to checkmate (via a minor piece, at that). I think that that game was in 1968 or thereabouts.

I myself still think that <50 is a possibility for the Cons. I concede that the many experts and specialists are against me, but my reasons are as previously blogged:
the fact that few 2019 and earlier Con voters now think of the Con Party and Government as anything other than completely useless;
that there are many (or are there?) “secret” Reform UK intending or possible voters; and
that there are many voters who will vote tactically to sink the Cons, even if many of the same voters hate, despise or fear Starmer-Labour.
A point or so fewer for the Cons, a point extra for Labour, a point extra for the LibDems, and a point or so more for Reform UK, and the Con cadre of MPs would reduce to only 30.

But, once again, the neighbours who live downstairs, below my flat, have decided to have another all-night party. And unlike me, they don’t have to wake up for work.
Because, unlike me, they don’t have to work.
They qualify for social housing; their rent is subsidised by the large and rising amount of council tax I am forced to pay each month —on top of ruinous income taxes, national insurance contributions and student loan repayments.
The majority of the tenants in my housing block are unemployed; I see few of them leaving the house for work in the morning.
My interactions with them are limited to hostile glaring mixed in with the occasional attempted mugging. On the rare occasion I have female company I have to escort my dates to and from the bus stop to stop them being sexually harassed.
What scraps of my salary the State allows me to keep are eaten up immediately by rent. I pay almost half my post-tax income to live on an ex-council estate in Zone 3, London, with the smell of weed continually hanging in the air.
Unless I achieve an income of more than £200,000 it will simply be impossible to secure a mortgage on a house the same size as the one my parents bought in 1989.
My friends work in high-powered finance and legal careers but, like me, struggle on with flatshares well into their late 20s, if not their early 30s.
They are spending the best decade of their life working until midnight seven days a week for the chance to attain the same middle-class lifestyle their parents achieved much earlier in life.
The reward for being wildly successful financially in 2024? To live in a semi-detached house that was built for unskilled professionals in inner London a century ago.
And that’s not all …
If I decide to have children, which you might think ought to be encouraged given the demographic crisis facing Western nations like Britain, I will have to contend with extortionate childcare costs, or deprive my household of a second income.
Renting a three-bedroom flat in a safe part of London will cost in excess of £3,000 a month; my children will have to grow up in far more cramped conditions than I did, most likely having to share a room and perhaps dodging stray bullets.
The only feasible route out of this incredibly depressing situation is to leave the city I grew up in and commute two hours both ways from a town I have no local connection to —where I have no friends or family living nearby.
Even with cheaper housing, I will still have to send my kids to local schools where they will be bombarded with relentless propaganda about how to ‘change their gender’, acknowledge their ‘whiteness’, and apologise for the British Empire.
It is certainly true that previous generations of young people faced more challenging circumstances. I am not (yet) being asked to walk across No Mans Land and into a sea of barbed wire and machine guns.
But it is one thing being asked to suffer for a cause like liberty in Europe, or to grimace through destitution because of seemingly uncontrollable events like the Wall Street Crash. It is quite another to be economically enslaved to the point of infertility to sustain a growing population of resentful dependents.
And I am one of the lucky ones...”

The full report is misleading in respect of one of the locations. It seems that the friend lived not in “Maida Vale”, as claimed, but in Kilburn, a couple of miles to the north of where I myself used to live in Little Venice. Even the estate agencies, which have invented a non-area called “North Maida Vale”, would be hard put to claim the location of the murder as having been in any sort of Maida Vale; not even “borders of”, I should think.
Terrible. Life in most places outside London is hard without a car. I have a car now, but when I lived in New Jersey in the early 1990s, I did not drive or own a car (my American first wife had one, though).
Getting into Manhattan by express (non-stop) bus was fairly good and only took about 50 minutes once on board, but to travel crossways, either eastward to the Jersey Shore, or westward to nearby settlements such as South River, was almost impossible, and involved a longish walk and then a ride on the one very occasional local bus, the M15 (I always called it the “MI5”).
Very inconvenient, and that is more or less what is now being inflicted on many rural dwellers in England.

Look at the fundamentals: Russia is still a functioning and indeed flourishing state in most respects. It has an oil and gas sector exporting around the world, other mineral exports, a state income which is huge, and an army which, despite problems, can still fulfil its tasks. Then there are the 6,000+ nuclear weapons. Russia’s domestic economy continues to work normally. Russia has huge potential reserves of both manpower and armaments.
Contrast Kiev-regime Ukraine: 10%+ of its former territories occupied and/or broken away; a population whose very low birth-rate (insufficient to replace losses via deaths) is one factor, another being the 20% of the pre-2022 population now living beyond Ukrainian borders. As a matter of fact, I am just now reading the book on which that report is based and, having almost finished it, can recommend it as a fairly good read, though the author does tend to let his personal views intrude now and then. Also, he does not examine in the round some aspects of why people did this or that at such a period of modern history.
If I am not mistaken, that photo of wartime Warsaw shows the main square in the Old Town quarter of the city, which I recall well from 1988 and 1989, when I visited Poland a few times. In 1988, I visited a famous Polish restaurant, the Bazyliszek (Basilisk), a couple of times, once for dinner (I think— that was, after all, 35 years ago), and once for a drink at the bar. That restaurant was in a building near one of the corners of the square.
The square, painstakingly reconstructed in the postwar era from old plans and photographs, now looks as it did before the damage done during WW2 (mainly in 1939 and 1944):
It would be far better to avoid even worse and more widespread devastation in Europe today than to repeat such terrible occurences, but the levers of power are often in the hands of reckless and/or stupid and/or evil “leaders”. Most of the notionally “independent” African states slid to chaos, corruption and civil war quite quickly after they ceased to be colonies. Why? Because the blacks were incapable of organizing anything once white (i.e. European) people left. There are many examples: Congo/Zaire, Ghana, Nigeria, Somalia, Tanganyika/Tanzania, Zambia etc.
More recently (from 1980) Rhodesia/Zimbabwe, which I myself saw prior to that, in 1977. It continued to function, up to a point, for several years, because a small proportion of the population was still European. Then most left, leaving Zimbabwe a swamp of corruption and near-chaos.
South Africa at one time (1911) had 22% of its population European; by 2010, that had shrunk to 8.9%, and may now be as low as 5%. The black population, under European/white rule, exploded in the 20thC.
After the whites of South Africa gave up their leading role in 1994, they have come to understand that, under black rule, there is no decent life for white people. Many have emigrated; others work overseas while keeping a home of some sort in South Africa. I used to talk at breakfast with a group of South African doctors who worked in the NHS at Exeter (UK) and other places, and who used to stay, as I did at times, at a farmhouse B&B in Devon.
It is not just a question of government. White Europeans ran everything else in the old South Africa. Now, most official posts are in the hands of blacks. Look at the results.
Cape Town very nearly ran out of drinking water (indeed, all water) a few years ago, because the African rulers and administrators had not prepared for drought: see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_Town_water_crisis. The city was saved only by persistent heavy rain just at the time of greatest crisis; by chance or fate, in other words.
Now we see that South Africa is running short of electricity, in a country where solar power should surely have a leading role.
In other words, South Africa is going (as I always knew it would) the same way as the rest of Africa, though more gradually.
