So the name Land Rover, one of the most recognized and recognizable brands in the world, is going to be dropped. Who on Earth makes stupid decisions like that? What sort of people run such companies?

Land Rover history: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land_Rover.

…aided and abetted by the Jewish lobby embedded within individual countries such as the UK.

He is right— I myself am often too polite to those who do not deserve it.

Perhaps, perhaps not. I wish that Michael O’Leary himself would die off, though. A thoroughly unpleasant-seeming individual: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_O%27Leary_(businessman)#Controversy.

More of the same lying propaganda that has been swirling through the UK and the rest of the Western world for many years, particularly in the past decade.

Looks like at least some of the old Soviet propaganda was not too wide of the mark…

They built cities of marble but, later, untermenschen invaded and crawled over the magnificent ruins…

Kiev“. Note the guard force. When some supposed VIP goes to Kiev to meet Zelensky or one of his cabal, and to create a photo-opportunity, the streets around are deserted, except for any sole “local person” allowed to approach the foreign visitor to thank him for his country’s “support” (arms, ammunition, money); as when “Boris” Johnson visits.

So, those deserted streets. Are they cleared as a security measure, or has a large part of the civilian population of Kiev fled?

As relevant to Britain in 2023 as a comic novel, or a film about “Ruritania”.

Meanwhile…

More of Stoltenberg in Kiev, in Mikhailovskaya Ploshchad (Square), which is in central Kiev, near the Foreign Ministry and the British Embassy, among other headquarters and diplomatic installations. Still no “real people” (locals), only bodyguards, Army, police, TV crew(s), and Press photographers. Of what are they so afraid? Can it be that the Zelensky regime (and/or NATO) is not as popular, even in Kiev, as it likes to have portrayed?

The ancients would have called an event like that a sign from the heavens…

I have never expected much from Starmer. For one thing, he is a puppet and mouthpiece of the Jewish/Zionist lobby, even as compared to other System politicians. Also, he is as dull as ditchwater.

Beyond that, I have noticed (and have long blogged) that Starmer’s general attitude to the past 13 years of “Conservative” misgovernment has been to say, in effect, “we support workhouses, but they should be run more efficiently“.

Starmer is not only not a “socialist” in any meaningful way, but not even much of a social-democrat. A different label from the Conservative Party, but little else substantially different.

In fact, looking at how Starmer vacillates, fails to make up his mind (even as to what is “a woman”!), and tries to evade difficult moral choices, while mouthing “me too!” on various issues, I can see what a rotten Prime Minister he would make, just as I saw —years before most people— what a rotten PM “Boris”-idiot would make.

As time goes by, my view against Starmer becomes less and less favourable, not that it was actually ever favourable.

Both the Kiev regime and the Russian Government have stated that the status of Crimea is non-negotiable.

Imagine…that McFaul person was U.S. Ambassador to Moscow, and yet such is his level of analysis. Hard to believe.

As I blogged yesterday, if the Western governments knew, or know, that the Chinese government released the “Covid” strain(s) deliberately, that leaves them with the question “why?” and, also, with the dilemma about what to do about it.

China can hardly be invaded or attacked, or (in any serious way) subjected to economic sanctions, so what would be left? Verbal handwringing? That would make the West look weak, or even weaker. The only answer seems to be to pretend that the Chinese government did not do anything wrong…

Where do they think they would be without white European people? Not living in luxury, travelling around in private planes or limousines, that’s for sure. Probably sitting in mud and straw huts somewhere, cooking sadza.

Jew embezzler and tyrant Zelensky should be eliminated.

A kind of Israeli Jew Kristallnacht, in fact, but carried out by aggressive colonizers.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/2/27/unprecedented-israeli-settlers-wreak-havoc-on-occupied-nablus.

It is being reported that some Israeli Jews disapprove of the violence. As a matter of fact, Adolf Hitler was taken by surprise by Kristallnacht, and somewhat disapproved of it, knowing that foreign enemies would use it against him.

Of course, the Israeli state was built on that kind of terrorism and intimidation. Mass graves are still occasionally uncovered in Israel, the result of Jewish ethnic cleansing from around 1948.

In the UK, USA, France, “they” are a relatively small minority, and usually rely on other methods: threats of “legal action”, prosecutions etc, if anyone criticizes their behaviour; attacking people’s jobs, businesses, or professions; bribery of MPs and officials; a stranglehold over the Press, publishing, TV, radio etc.

I do not know whether those Huwarra/Huwara events have been covered by BBC, Sky etc. Maybe, maybe not.

I rarely bother to watch TV news now, partly because it is so dull as to be almost unwatcheable, partly because it is largely System propaganda. The political editors are usually either (((you-know-who))) or in the pocket of the same.

I doubt whether the Jew settlers would have had the courage to carry out their pogrom had they not been backed up by the Israeli Army. Basically, Jew bullies.

Incidents of settler violence across the West Bank happen every day, and have steadily increased over the past few years: many of the 700,000 or so Israelis living in the territory and East Jerusalem are motivated by what they see as a religious mission to restore the historical land of Israel to the Jewish people. Settlement communities are viewed as illegal under international law, and one of the biggest obstacles to peace.

On this day a year ago

I have to say, if immodestly, that that 2022 blog post has held up quite well overall, though with one important exception— the ability of the Kiev regime to fight on, backed by Western powers.

From the newspapers

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11792603/Mother-34-locked-ten-year-old-son-house-three-years.html.

That happened in India but, as not infrequently blogged about, the “panicdemic” also liberated a whole load of mentally-unstable mugs and loonies in the UK. In fact, I noticed only yesterday, in the local Waitrose, two or three idiotic elderly women wearing facemasks, two of whom (maybe all three, but two that I saw) also wearing them in the not-busy car park. I wonder how old and filthy those masks were; possibly from 1-2 years ago, and replete with germs.

Brainwashed crazies.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11750149/Did-David-Koresh-copy-doomsday-prophesies-1890s-Florida-cult.html.

Is that “Waco“, or “wacko“?

In fact, the “hollow Earth theory” (or theories) continue to attract devotees: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollow_Earth. There is some connection to the theories of Hans Horbiger [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanns_H%C3%B6rbiger] known as the Welteislehre [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welteislehre] or “Doctrine of World Ice”.

It is surprising what some people believe. A friend of mine was visiting people she knew in Switzerland about 30 years ago; they went over the border to Germany to see mutual acquaintances. It turned out that one old fellow, a former Waffen SS sergeant, had become obsessed by the idea that Hitler had withdrawn in 1945 to a redoubt under the ice in Antarctica, and from where (he thought) it was possible to access the interior of the Earth.

More from the newspapers

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11793317/US-missiles-100-mile-range-used-Ukraine-strikes-retake-Mariupol-Russia.html

Ukraine has launched a series of surprise attacks on Russian troops and supply lines in Mariupol โ€“ the first strikes on the city since it fell to the Kremlin last May after a brutal three-month siege that left the key port in ruins.

There were at least 18 strikes last week over three successive days โ€“ the most recent on Friday night โ€“ in a significant ratcheting up of Ukrainian efforts to retake its captured southern corridor, the strip of coastal land that links to Crimea.

There is speculation the explosions โ€“ which took place amid Kyivโ€™s warnings of a Russian offensive to coincide with the warโ€™s first anniversary โ€“ may have involved newly donated long-range US rockets with a range of almost 100 miles.

[Daily Mail].

So the Kiev regime now has American missiles capable of hitting targets 100 miles away? Moscow itself is only 300 miles from the nearest point of the border with Ukraine. Where will this end? I see no sign of anything other than escalation. At the end of the day, the Russian side may take, perhaps literally, the nuclear option, and go on to flatten Kiev, Kharkov, and other major cities, then move into the empty space with a rebuilding programme and Russian settlers.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11793249/Army-chiefs-tell-sacked-soldiers-need-back.html

Desperate defence chiefs are allowing ex-soldiers to rejoin the Army after they were sacked for fighting, theft or going AWOL.

Troops who were medically discharged will also be allowed to rejoin, and will be able to keep any compensation they received when they were forced to retire.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has also said that soldiers who left the Forces after taking redundancy more than two years ago will likely be able to rejoin without having to pay back any cash.

It is understood that those who were sacked for smoking cannabis or who tested positive for drugs such as cocaine or amphetamines might also be reconsidered.

[Daily Mail]

Thick and irresponsible Ben Wallace, former Guards captain now wanting to play the field-marshal, finds himself embarrassingly short of bodies, “for a general without troops is naked indeed“…

When will ex-captain Ben lead his depleted force of drug-abusing, drink-sodden brawlers and arthritics to Crimea against the several million-strong (inc. reserves) Russian Army? Vorwarts! Wir fahren nach Osten! Ha ha!

Incidentally, the “readers’ comments” under that Daily Mail report are both amusing and telling.

I have very little interest, either way, in this situation. The ex-ISIS recruit should not be in the UK, nor have been born in the UK in the first place. The same goes for most if not all of the non-whites here. The endless talk about her, merely one out of millions, is just a bad joke.

The idea that the “free” (Jew-Zionist permeated) Press/msm in the USA comprise anything other than NWO/ZOG propaganda is delusionary. I recall being in the USA in 1990-1991 when the USA was preparing to fight Iraq for the first time. Wall-to-wall propaganda, much of it a pack of not very clever but still effective lies (e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nayirah_testimony, straight from the WW1 and WW2 atrocity-propaganda and/or “holocaust” hoax playbook).

Effective propaganda when relayed to a public unable or unwilling to think for itself, or critically, or sceptically, a public without much if any knowledge of history, or even basic world geography (I met Americans in New York and New Jersey who were unaware where even American states, such as Wisconsin, were located!).

That main tweet (despite being by pro-Zelensky msm drone John Sweeney) does show the localized nature of the conflict. Most of Ukraine is only affected indirectly by the fighting in the southeast, though of course the electricity blackouts must have made life very difficult for many.

Wars usually are localized. Most areas, most of the time, are not like the Tet Offensive, or Stalingrad. Even in the days of the bombing of the UK during WW2 (mostly mid-1940 to mid-1941), large areas of the UK were unaffected (directly). That was even true of London.

If you visit London today, even Central London, you see that, despite postwar redevelopment, most of it dates from before WW2. Destruction from bombing affected more the dockland areas and those districts around the docks (City of London, inner East London etc).

The “free” and “democratic” Ukraine of the Jew Zelensky…

In any case, even were the absurd idea that Putin wants to invade Central and Western Europe true, how could he, looking at how hard he is finding it even to hold on to about a tenth of Ukraine territory?

Interesting, in view of the activities of the British Army’s 77 Brigade. One of the most extreme pro-war and anti-Russia MPs, Tobias Ellwood, is said to hold the rank of (Reserves) Colonel in that unit.

I have blogged to that effect myself, more than once.

Pseudo-science“? At one time the theories of Galileo, Pasteur, Tesla, and many others, were called “pseudo-science”… Where is the line drawn? 1960s CIA “remote viewing” experiments? Rupert Sheldrake? Uri Geller?

notes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rupert_Sheldrake; https://www.sheldrake.org/; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uri_Geller.

How time flies! Rupert Sheldrake is now 80. I remember him being described as a maverick young scientist; that must have been sometime around 1980.

In fact, I see that Uri Geller is now 76. In or about 1971, when he bought one of the largest houses in Sonning, Berkshire (where George Clooney now has a house, and where I was at school 1970-1973), he was still in his mid-twenties; he was on UK TV sometimes, bending spoons etc.

The usual “democratic” methods will not stop that sort of thing. This is a war, not a debate.

Saturday quiz

Another week when political journalist John Rentoul and I scored the same— 7/10. I did not know the answers to questions 1, 2, and 4.

Patriotic Alternative

I read that Sam Melia, husband of leading PA activist Laura Towler, is now charged with several (political) “crimes”: see https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-64757885.

Coming hard on the heels of a Twitter ban on Melia, Laura Towler, Mark Collett, and PA itself, it is hard not to see this as part of a co-ordinated attack.

When the BNP started to get real traction about 20 years ago, Nick Griffin and Mark Collett were charged with “incitement to racial hatred” by collusive CPS lawyers and politically-motivated police. They were both acquitted in the end, thanks to the good sense of the British jury (and were lucky that the jury in the case was British).

The motivation was because the BNP was just starting to really go places. The same may be true now, in respect of this matter. PA is starting to resonate with many in the betrayed British enclaves of, especially, Northern England. The System wants to squash that, and leave the British people, especially the poorer ones, defenceless against the alien migration-invasion and the emergent police state.

I see from the BBC report that at least some of the charges relate to making or distribution of electronic or real/paper stickers. Stickers?! Is that something with which “Counter Terrorism Policing North East” ought to be concerning themselves?

From the newspapers

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11790319/Prison-reform-boss-subjected-husband-15-years-abuse-jailed-four-years.html

A prison reform boss is herself behind bars tonight after subjecting her husband to 15 years of physical attacks and verbal humiliation which has left him with mental scars ‘that will last a lifetime’.

Sheree Spencer, 45, was jailed for four years for making husband Richard’s life a living hell with daily beatings and verbal attacks that left him cowering on the floor in the foetal position.

On one occasion she defecated on the floor and forced him to clean it up, and on another she beat him with a wine bottle so hard it permanently disfigured his ear.

She worked at the highest levels for HM Prison and Probation Service and bragged to friends that she had the ear of former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Spencer’s reign of domestic terror finally ended in June 2021 when the police were called to their family home by a concerned welfare worker.

Her arrest that day on suspicion of assaulting her husband opened a door into the hell he had kept private for his entire married life.

[Counsel] said that Spencer had suffered bouts of depression and anxiety throughout her life which she had ‘wrongly’ sought to self medicate by drinking alcohol.

The court was told that on some days she would drink as much as three bottles of wine.

Spencer could be heard sobbing as she was led away to the cells to begin her four year term.

[Daily Mail]

That case is evidently an extreme example of a phenomenon often seen, perhaps especially in the UK, i.e. a woman trying to hold down a bigger job than that which she can handle, and trying to compete with male colleagues etc, while completely falling to pieces psychologically.

City of London law firms are a typical breeding-ground for that kind of craziness.

I liked the last sentence, by the way, about how that wicked woman cried as she was taken to the cells. Justice, however inadequate.

Sheree Spencer, the defendant, will be out in a couple of years, but (presumably) will now lose her (supposedly) “high-flying” Civil Service position. Also, one presumes that, while she is enjoying life in some women’s prison over the next two years, her husband will probably divorce her, and (as primary care-taker of their offspring) will be awarded the “family” house, very likely, or most of its value. She will therefore come out of prison to no house, no family, no job, and no future, aged 47 or 48.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” [Matthew 5:6].

All the same, I cannot understand why the husband did not simply take her down many years before. True, a man should not, in principle, hit a woman, even (arguably) in self-defence, but every rule has its exceptions, and a woman who behaves as that bitch did deserves no misplaced cartoon chivalry.

How true it is that “there are more things in Heaven and Earth…than are dreamt of in your philosophy“…[Shakespeare, Hamlet].

Well, I am not at all surprised, looking at those who control most of the msm narrative about the conflict in Ukraine.

Cut off money, arms, and ammunition to the Zionist regime in Kiev, and the whole war or conflict will or would wind down fairly rapidly. Weeks not months. Russia will or would then occupy Kiev, Ukraine east of the Dnieper and also the Odessa littoral. The Jew Zelensky and his cabal, if still alive, can be allowed to go to Lvov (from where he will or would rule only parts of Western Ukraine before, probably, decamping to either Florida or Tel Aviv). Rebuilding can then start.

Britain is simply infested, as is France.

When Russia invaded Ukraine a year ago, it should have been “a Blitzkrieg for the sake of mercy” (as I blogged at the time): swift, overwhelming, and effectively bloodless, with little or no damage to the lives and homes of the Ukrainian population.

The inefficiency of the Russian Army, General Staff, and GRU ruined it. That was, if you like, “Russia’s fault”, but the continuation and escalation since then has been and is the fault of the Western powers (aka “NWO”) and their Jewish puppet regime in Kiev, figureheaded by the Jew Zelensky.

However, we are where we are. For the sake of the future, Russia has to win this now, however bitter any “victory” will be, for both sides.

This is an idea I have discussed in the past on the blog: Russia to absorb the part of Ukraine (about or nearly half, ignoring Crimea) which lies east of the Dnieper river; the present regime in Kiev to move to Lvov and rule from there the west and southwest of Ukraine.

Kiev is a problem, lying as it does on the Dnieper. It is historically bound to Russia (after all, Ukraine as a state only goes back to 1991), but its status is unlikely to be agreed upon. Its (pre-war) population of 3M is about 8% or more of the whole population of the Ukraine.; it is the 7th-biggest city in Europe.

The mere fact that someone as stupid, uncultured, and (in any real sense) uneducated as Liz Truss could hold the status, first as Foreign Secretary (under “Boris”-idiot), then actually as (or posing as) Prime Minister, should tell us very directly how broken the whole political and governmental system of the UK has become. Great Continental Rail Journeys

Was just watching one of those Michael Portillo rail journeys on TV, Vienna to Trieste. Interesting. Vienna railway station looks better now than the old one that I saw a couple of times in the 1980s.

More interesting to me was when Portillo mentioned that, in the several decades before the First World War, the population of Vienna had increased by 5x, but that the Jewish population of Vienna had increased by no less than 35x! That explains much.

The six cities of Europe with the greatest (absolute) numbers of Jews today (as of a couple of years ago) are Paris, Moscow, London, Kiev, Budapest, and Marseilles. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_population_by_city.

Well, there’s a surprise (not).

Apart from anything else, older British people do not want to work for rubbish pay or, if on better pay, to be taxed through the nose so that money in huge amounts can be wasted on the sort of rubbish we saw during the “panicdemic” of 2020-2021, or on migrant-invaders posing as “refugees”, or on any other rubbish.

I agree with them (though I am now 66 anyway): I say— live on a lower spend-level, re-evaluate, live (as far as you can) off-grid (or at least cut off from the HMRC, DWP, professional and other leeches such as lawyers, accountants, estate agents etc), and plot the end of this society while seeding a new one.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11709517/Russian-casualties-Ukraine-nearing-200-000-officials-say.html

The city [Bakhmut] sits on an important confluence of supply routes and, when fighting started at least, was seen as a vital staging point for assaults further into Donbas – particularly the nearby cities of Slovyansk and Kramatorsk.

Now, though, the battle is more symbolic than practical. Most analysts agree the blood price that Russia has paid trying to take Bakhmut – thought to be more than 100 troops per day – is not worth the value of capturing it.

[Daily Mail]

Perhaps but, if that city is so unimportant, why are the Kiev-regime forces also trying so hard to win there —at the cost of a similar number of casualties, probably— ?

[state of play as of 2-3 February 2023]

Kiev remains the jewel in the crown. If Russia can take Kiev and Kharkov, the war will be almost over. Maybe later this year.

I have no idea whether “@ChrissieClarky” is another “Jack Monroe “sock account” or just another pro-“Jack Monroe oddity. Birds of a feather flock together, after all.

Actually, the “mental health” defence is quite clever because, first of all, it enables “Jack Monroe” to do more or less as she pleases— take money from the naive and well-meaning, drink herself silly, take drugs, spend money (mostly donated) like a drunken sailor etc; secondly, it gives a “reason” for the above defaults and, thirdly, makes any critics (or even those just trying to get their money back) seem like “bullies” and “trolls”.

When “Jack Monroe” closes down her Twitter account (as she has done at least three times even in the last few months) her supporters blame “trolls“, “bullies” etc, rather than noticing that, that way, she can avoid answering embarrassing questions about her extraction and misuse of money…

I see plenty of the well-meaning saying that “Jack Monroe” should stay off Twitter, and/or get “help”. Why would she do that? It has been Twitter, and her whole social media facade, that (together with msm promotion) has built her “career” as a supposed champion of the food-poor, and has given her (via Patreon etc) an income of —at least— several thousand pounds a month and possibly as much as ยฃ40,000 a month, but probably around ยฃ6,000 a month.

There were at one time 800 “mugs” paying “Jack Monroe” between ยฃ3.50 and ยฃ44 a month via Patreon alone! Partly due to Jewish TV cook Nigella Lawson’s promotion of her; Jay Rayner, the Jewish restaurant critic, was also applauding her at one time, but seems to have belatedly seen the light in recent months.

Even at time of writing today, 497 utter mugs are still signed up to her Patreon “grift”. That is actually a couple more than yesterday! Average (?) ยฃ10 a month = about ยฃ5,000 a month. A “nice little earner”…

Back in May 2022, “Bootstrap Cook” was threatening all and sundry (including MP Lee Anderson) with her Jewish lawyer, but since then the lawyer in question (Mark Lewis), who may or may not be retained at present, has not emerged from his kennel to bark at anyone, at least not publicly, and it is now pretty obvious that, despite more “Jack Monroe” Twitter lies from time to time, Lee Anderson and Martin Daubney are not going to be sued by her.

Peel away the lies from “Jack Monroe” and there is nothing left, it seems.

So the biggest groups are Albanians and Indians now? Are any of the bastards arriving in rubber boats even arguably “refugees”? I doubt it.

Partly true, though not the full picture. There is too much housebuilding, especially in the south of England; there is too much pesticide/herbicide use; the water companies are a disgrace; there is still a push for ever-more-intensive farming.

That stupid bastard, Tobias Ellwood, will not be happy until the UK is a stinking radioactive ruin.

I begin to think, looking at him now, that he is possibly part-Jew; not sure.

The human cost of war is terrible— on both sides.

Reminiscent of the exploits of Michael Wittman after the Normandy Landings in 1944:

Michael Wittmann (22 April 1914 โ€“ 8 August 1944) was a German Waffen-SS tank commander during the Second World War. He is known for his ambush of elements of the British 7th Armored Division during the Battle of Villers-Bocage on 13 June 1944. While in command of a Tiger I tank, Wittmann destroyed up to 14 tanks, 15 personnel carriers and two anti-tank guns within 15 minutes for the loss of his own tank…Wittmann became a cult figure after the war thanks to his accomplishments as a “panzer ace” (a highly decorated tank commander), part of the portrayal of the Waffen-SS in popular culture.”

Germany and the US will send armoured fighting vehicles to Ukraine, the White House said, in a move that will deliver a big boost to Kyivโ€™s offensive capabilities.”

[Financial Times]

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/jan/05/germany-tanks-ukraine-russia-war

Joe Biden and his German counterpart Olaf Scholz have agreed to send infantry fighting vehicles to help Ukraine fight Russia, a day after France said it would supply its own armoured vehicles to Kyiv in an attempt to create a breakthrough in the 10-month war.

The joint announcement followed a phone call between Biden and Scholz and amounts to a step change in western military support for Ukraine, which has asked for up to 700 armoured vehicles to help force the Russians out.

Ukraine has repeatedly said it needs 600 to 700 infantry fighting vehicles plus 300 tanks from from the west in order to give its military a chance of breaking through the increasingly fortified Russian positions along the frontline.

Until now, however, the US and Germany have been wary of supplying Ukraine with Nato-standard armour, because they feared it would be interpreted by Russia as escalatory. But the decision to supply western armoured vehicles is significant, even if both countries stopped short of sending tanks.

[The Guardian].

At what point does Russia decide that it has no choice but to use massive force (nuclear or conventional) to raze Kiev and Kharkov to the ground, so that the area of Ukraine east of the Dnieper (about a third to half of Ukraine) can be later rebuilt, and occupied by Russian settlers?

That may sound almost impossible but is actually similar, arguably,to what happened centuries ago when the Cossacks were formed as a group, or connected groups, around the various rivers in southern Russia and Ukraine— Don Cossacks, Zaporozhye Cossacks, Volga Cossacks, Dnieper Cossacks etc.

See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cossacks

[“the Wild Fields”, where Cossacks lived]

Whatever the possibility of the above, there is no doubt that the supply of armoured vehicles, advanced missile systems, and tanks, to the Kiev regime constitutes considerable escalation.

In fact, one need not go back too far in history to find examples of Russian forces all but razing cities to the ground, then rebuilding them and filling them with the troops and civilians of loyal satraps: see Grozny in the 1990s— https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grozny#After_the_wars.

Afterwards, the Russians slowly entered the empty city and on 6 February raised the Russian flag in the centre. Many buildings and even whole areas of the city were systematically destroyed. A month later, it was declared safe to allow the residents to return to their homes, although demolition continued for some time. In 2003 the United Nations called Grozny the most destroyed city on earth.”

The Russian tactic in 1999 was to hold back tanks and armored personnel carriers and subject the entrenched Chechens to an intensive heavy artillery barrage and aerial bombardment before engaging them with relatively small groups of infantry, many with prior training in urban warfare.”

[Wikipedia].

I read, re. Ukraine in 2023, that Russia has huge numbers of troops not “in theatre”, i.e. not (yet) in Ukraine. That may be because those troops are not trained enough yet, it may be because there are logistical problems in supplying them. If Russia can train them and supply them by next Spring or early Summer, then a vast offensive might be possible, to take Kharkov and even Kiev itself, though if the latter it would be a bloody battle, akin to Stalingrad in 1942-43.

In the end, Russia needs to take Kiev, Kharkov and, if possible, Odessa, along with surrounding territory. If it can do that, then it can write off Western Ukraine and its cities (chief of which is Lvov). That would mean continuing conflict with a regime which would be based on Lvov, but there would be little the Zelensky regime or its successor could do, with almost all Ukrainian cities of any size in Russian hands.

At this point, Ukraine is not a functioning state.

The “Jack Monroe” “scamstorm” continues

Those “FBPE” tweeters are nearly always absolutely stupid, and often rather unpleasant as well.

The idea that “Jack Monroe” has “worked tirelessly” on behalf of anyone other than herself is ludicrous.

Tweeter “@codfather” is the usual “Jack Monroe” partisan: wilfully blind, a certain age (reading between the lines), reasonably affluent (ditto) and certainly not “poor”. Also, vituperative.

In fact, and as I started to understand some time ago, many of the pro-“Bootstrap Cook” tweets are actually from…”Jack Monroe” herself, pretending to be other people. So-called “sock accounts”. Not all, and I think not “@codfather”, but many others.

See also: https://www.theguardian.com/business/2023/jan/05/cost-of-living-crisis-england-most-deprived-area-birmingham-hodge-hill.

The sheer delusion that many “Jack Monroe” partisans seem to live in has to be read to be believed; look, for example, at the tweet belkow, from (supposedly) a “professor emeritus at Bristol [University]”:

What the professor fails to see is that “Jack Monroe” has only one achievement (two if you include persuading large numbers of msm people that her whole story is true) — making a pretty good living for herself mainly by tweeting personal trivia, and recipes which look as dire as they are deficient in nutrient.

As for “measurement of food price inflation“, the ONS has made clear that their one meeting with her (at her request) had no effect on any of their work, and was not even noted or recorded. The “Vimes Boots Index”, supposedly being “worked on” by “Jack Monroe”, does not even exist, in reality. So what is left is the commonplace observation that the cost of basic foods has risen faster than that of luxury items.

Once again, a “Jack Monroe” supporter turns out to be a “woke”, and comfortably-off virtue-signaller, in this case an academic, or retired academic.

As I have blogged before, I have so far seen not one “Jack Monroe” supporter who is under 30, is “poor”, or who has ever been in circumstances of real financial difficulty.

Interestingly, also, I see not one “Jack Monroe” supporter who is black, brown, or Chinese. As someone who wants the UK and all Europe to be European, that in a sense is not a problem for me, but is still an interesting thing to note.

My take on that is that the ethnic minorities are too down to earth (and many also with too recent an experience of actual poverty) to take “Jack Monroe”/”Bootstrap Cook” seriously. Also, many would not look twice at the kind of swill she seems to produce much of the time.

Temps perdu: Bruce Barry

Ha. Back in the early 1980s, I knew a lady, a civil servant, who rented her basement flat near Central London to an actor well-known then in Australia, but obscure in the UK— Bruce Barry. I got to know him slightly.

At some point, maybe in 1984, Bruce auditioned for the part of Crocodile Dundee in the eponymous film. He told my friend, his landlady, that he had been shortlisted. The only other contender was… Paul Hogan. And the rest is history, as they say.

Bruce had spoiled his chance by going to the final meeting with the film people, at the Ritz in London, beautifully dressed (according to the lady I knew) but then enjoying “a liquid lunch“…

Bruce was fussy about food, living off wholefoods, nuts, avocado, and I think the occasional Australian steak, but drank too much. Drink and women were his downfall.

Not a bad fellow, though rather neurotic, and rather intense, in my view. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Barry_(actor). Bruce had come to London at the age of ~46 to try to break into musicals. His divorce in Australia had left his wife (or one of them) and teenage sons in the family home, apparently a palatial house with grounds going down to the waters of Sydney Harbour, while Bruce himself was left with little.

In London, his first part was the male lead in The Biograph Girl [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Biograph_Girl], a musical about Lilian Gish [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lillian_Gish], which closed after (I now see from Wikipedia) 57 performances (I had thought, until today, after only a couple of weeks). Bruce had described it in hardnosed Australian fashion to my friend, the Civil Service lady, as “a bum show“, i.e. not much good.

I recall seeing Bruce on stage a couple of times, once at the Adelphi, in the Strand, where he was the second male lead in Marilyn! He played Andre de Dienes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andr%C3%A9_de_Dienes (though I cannot have been paying attention because until today I had thought he played Arthur Miller).

Bruce had very kindly given me two free tickets; I invited my mother, who lived in Surrey, and she enjoyed it. Musicals are not really my thing.

The other time I saw Bruce Barry in performance was at the Australian High Commission in London. I think that it was called An Evening with Bruce Barry, and was very good. I attended with the Civil Service lady, and met the real Australian Cultural Attache, who perhaps unsurprisingly was a very pleasant diplomatic fellow, and not a bit like “Sir Les Patterson” as portrayed by Barry Humphries [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sir_Les_Patterson].

Bruce had a girlfriend, a tall Australian dancer who had been a member of the Bluebell Girls ensemble in Paris. One day, Bruce returned to his flat to find her in flagrante with a third party. The end of the affair.

Bruce toured a bit around England with well-known stars such as Rula Lenska and Elaine Paige. I believe that that was in Evita. One star he disliked intensely, though, was Barbara Windsor. He was, apparently, not alone in that. Several disliked her tie-ups with gangsters etc.

In the end, Bruce Barry, having not quite broken through in the way he had hoped, returned to Australia, remarried, and had parts in quite a few TV shows, including The Flying Doctors [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Flying_Doctors], where he played a landowner, I was told (I myself never saw it, though the series was shown in the UK).

The last I heard of Bruce Barry was that his second (or third) wife had divorced him, taken his home off him (as I heard it), and left him to drink and regrets.

I was unaware until today that Bruce had been with Mick Jagger in the film Ned Kelly, in 1970. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ned_Kelly_(1970_film).

Bruce Barry died in 2017, aged 82.

The Charity Commission should close down both its charitable status and, as far as possible, its fundraising.

In any case, why would “Jack Monroe” even go to the Grenfell Tower fire? She was never in the fire brigade, except as a civilian office bod answering the telephone in Essex (about 50-60 miles from Grenfell Tower) for a year or so, and years before the Grenfell Tower blaze. If she did go to Grenfell Tower (which I doubt), it could only have been as a “rubbernecker”, and the police would certainly not have “waved her through the cordon” as she claimed. She’s a fake, a total fake.

Someone should make a series on con-men, con-women, “grifters” etc. Hour-long episodes, each covering two or three perpetrators, a bit like the very interesting In Suspicious Circumstances presented by Edward Woodward [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_Suspicious_Circumstances]. A favourite series, presently being repeated on satellite TV.

Another good one was Great Crimes and Trials [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Crimes_and_Trials]. I used to have all of those on video or DVD.

At a guess, I should say that copies of Thrifty Kitchen will soon be on sale in charity shops for about 20p. At least “the poor” will then be able to read the book, should they be so misguided.

I can only agree.

Ha ha. Just thinking again about the very idea that “the poor” need to be advised (very negligently) that, if they have a can without a ring-pull, and cannot find a can-opener, that they should use a hammer (or mallet?) and large knife! “Jack Monroe” obviously thinks that “the poor” are all completely brainless, and either cannot think of that on their own, or think of how to get an opener (less than ยฃ1 in some places).

She might as well “advise” people to invest in a Swiss Army Knife (mine has a can-opener which does work, though it’s hard work). The worst “investment” is to buy her book, in my opinion.

Now send “Jack Monroe” a fiver!

Once the book appears for 10p (at a stretch, 20p) in charity shops, which will be soon, I shall probably buy a copy just to give myself a laugh or two before I chuck it away.

“Jack Monroe” is a total ยฃ3-note…a fake.

…and, so far, despite 3-4 months of Twitterstorm and offline criticism, her Jewish lawyer, Mark Lewis, a resident of Israel, and with whose name (by implication) she used to threaten people who called her fraudulent, has not once emerged from his kennel.

Below, another typical “Jack Monroe” supporter:

a. much of her “lived experience” written about has been fantasy or lies; b. her “tips” are mostly worthless, or actually dangerous to health, or are obvious (eg “buy the budget range at the supermarket“); c. her royalties total around ยฃ100,000 to date; d. the monies from “fundraising to send thousands of books to foodbanks” seem partly, perhaps largely, to have been diverted into her own pocket; e. then there was the “sue Lee Anderson” crowdfunder scam; and f. the continuing Patreon scam, bringing her maybe ยฃ6,000 each month.

In addition to the above, it seems that, last year, “Jack Monroe” did a number of events, and getting, it seems, up to ยฃ15,000 each time.

Not exactly “earning a few quid“…

In any case, should a small-time robber get off just because a big-time robber down the road has committed a bigger crime?

Some types of bungalow do have a room upstairs, of course. #MoralHighGround.

Just looking again at the Twitter profiles of those who are the angry supporters of “Jack Monroe”: “professor emeritus” (ie retired academic), “noise consultant“, “retired HR lady“, “small businessman“, “writer“, “writer and photographer“, “part of brilliant Marketing Team“, “Pagan…therapeutic counsellor“, “#ACAB #BLM, Rape/Cop apologists blocked, TERFs blocked“, “novelist“, “High Profile hard left twitterer“, “Mother of Mayhem, Psychology student, Not Jack Monroe, Maybe“, “I’m a doctor but not working clinically” [i.e. another “grifter”], “fandom old, makes various media“, “BSc Psychology. And so on.

Taken in a line. Just look at them. Not a steel worker, nurse, bus driver, train driver, cleaner, carpenter, plumber or the like among them. The “working class” seems to be absent.

Certainly not absent are the Guardian-readers, small business owners, suburban housewives (who prefer some other designation), well-paid freelancers, retired people (who used to be academics or working in reasonably-paid office jobs etc).

Also well-represented are various species of “Looney Tunes”.

Also absent is anyone likely to be “poor”.

As blogged previously, all her partisans are pseudo-socialists and/or “poverty tourists”, most if not all rather comfortably-off, many either retired or otherwise economically inactive (though not short of money); and quite a few with obvious mental health “issues” and/or problems with rational thinking. Also, various loony “trans” supporters.

Disturbing to see a Labour MP in there too, one Jim McMahon [Lab. and Co-op; Oldham West and Royton].

Oh, well, enough for now.

Diary Blog, New Year’s Day 2023, with more thoughts about Ukraine, and re. the continuing “Jack Monroe” storm

Morning music

On this day a year ago

Ukraine

We are constantly fed an NWO/ZOG msm narrative about how “Ukraine” (the Kiev regime) is “defeating Russia”. Is it true?

What would “Ukraine defeating Russia” look like, ultimately? Presumably, in that scenario, all Russian forces would be forced to leave behind not only the pre-2022 borders of Ukraine but also the Crimea, the population of which is at least 85% Russian and only a few percent Ukrainian now (there are also Crimean Tatars and others).

So, in that scenario, Russia would have been driven back into its own unargued territory, and kept there by Ukrainian/Kiev-regime military might. Is there any logic at all to that?

Russia is, of course, famously the largest country in the world, over six and a half million square miles, so about 72 times the size of the whole of the UK, and 29 times the size of Ukraine (even including Crimea and the Donbass). A country which covers one-eighth of the landmass of the entire planet.

Russia has a population of over 144 million (147 million if Crimea is included); Ukraine had 41 million people (excluding Crimea) in 2021, before the Russian invasion or incursion, but about 20% of the population of Ukraine (I suspect the relatively affluent layer) has fled beyond Ukraine, so the real population, at present, is perhaps 30 million.

Russia has, therefore, almost five times the population of Ukraine.

Russia’s economy may not be booming, now that Western (NWO/ZOG) sanctions have hit hard, but it is still functioning. Russia is getting huge amounts from oil and gas (and mineral) sales, and has, of course, no problem with generating electricity. Russia’s domestic agriculture has actually been stimulated by the Western sanctions which prohibit import and export.

Compare that to Ukraine— it has very limited sources of fuel of all kinds, its electricity generating and distribution capacity is being smashed, possibly beyond easy repair, its industry is scarcely operational, and its agriculture is unable to export easily.

Even before the invasion/incursion of 2022, Wikipedia noted that “Ukraine is the poorest country in Europe by nominal GDP per capita.”

The only material advantage that Ukraine has is that the Kiev regime is in receipt of enormous amounts of Western aid: arms, ammunition, military transport, food, clothing, medical supplies, and money.

There is no suggestion that Ukrainian forces can either invade or destroy Russian territory or cities. There can, likewise, be no suggestion that Ukrainian forces will actually topple Putin or the existing Russian Government (unless obliquely— e.g. should a coup d’etat take place).

The most that the Ukrainian forces can do, the peak of their realistic ambition, would be to expel all Russian forces from the pre-2014 Ukrainian borders, and then dig in, in effect.

Russia’s war aims have never been openly or clearly expressed in a manner that makes any sense, but part of them would be the necessity to demilitarize Ukraine, something that is now impossible without Russian control over the bulk of the territory, including Kiev.

Under other circumstances, Russia might now be sitting on the entire eastern half of Ukraine (ie Ukraine east of the Dnieper), but “we are where we are”, in the tiresome phrase.

As I predicted would happen on the blog months ago, Russian forces have recently been trying to think outside the box by applying “oblique warfare”, targeting the electricity production and generating system deep inside Ukraine, using missiles and drones.

While the Kiev-regime forces have supposedly been downing most of the attacking missiles, the ones that are getting through have been smashing the electrical system of Ukraine to pieces. What next? Possibly the railway network.

Russia is said to be mobilizing more troops, possibly with the idea of a mass assault on Kiev next summer.

Unless a peace treaty or armistice can be agreed and executed, the war can only escalate. However, Russia can only “win” this ghastly mess of a war by taking Kiev and toppling the present Kiev regime.

The “Jack Monroe”/”Bootstrap Cook” story rolls on

See also: https://tattle.life/wiki/jack-monroe/. Very eye-opening. One could even call it “devastating”.

Hard to see why anyone not very feeble-minded would send money to “Jack Monroe” after reading that Tattle Life exposรฉ . Surprising, therefore, to see that no fewer than 647 utter mugs are still sending her ยฃ3.50-ยฃ44 monthly, a total of between ยฃ2,265 and ยฃ28,468, each and every month. “A nice little earner“, in the estuary argot, even if the actual total amount sent is nearer to —at a guess— maybe ยฃ6,000 or ยฃ7,000 a month rather than the maximum. Probably taxfree as well.

I have no idea whether the Essex Police, Metropolitan Police, trading standards officers, or fundraising regulators are “on the case” or not. If not, though, why not?

Peter Hitchens’ column is worth publishing in full:

What a twisted society we have become. We stir up wars in other people’s countries and praise ourselves for doing it.

But there is no political reward for protecting our own people against crime and disorder on their streets and in their homes. It is no longer clear if anyone is governing the country at all, so busy are we putting other nations to rights.

Burglaries go unprevented, uninvestigated and unpunished, in colossal numbers. Our capital city seethes with uncontrolled knife crime and stinks of marijuana.

Christmas brings news of terrible ultra-violent crimes in supposedly peaceful suburban areas. Migrants stride boldly ashore in unknown numbers. We pay heavy taxes for pitiful services, cratered roads and a health system that is the envy of nobody.

Yet, nothing happens about all this. The surest way to gain praise in politics is to make simple-minded statements about a crisis abroad and demand that we send bombs and shells to some strife-torn state, or actually bomb it ourselves.

The idea that such things are often complicated and dangerous, and may do harm, has faded from view. When Prime Minister Anthony Eden dragged us into his disastrous attack on Egypt in 1956, the entire country was bitterly divided. And rightly so. The archives, when they were opened, showed that the adventure was based on lies, futile and doomed.

When the USA sank up to its waist in the bloody mud of Vietnam in the 1960s, the whole world was at odds. Once again, now that the truth is revealed, we know that thousands of brave men died, and many more thousands of innocent civilians were killed, because of a mistake.

But since the Blair revolution of 1997, pious, allegedly virtuous foreign crusades have come back into fashion. Criticising them gets you into trouble. There is only one permitted view. Few go back to find out how things actually went.

The Kosovo episode, for instance, did not bring paradise to that part of the world. Nor did the Iraq invasion. I know most people now pretend to have been against it at the time but as one who actually was against it at the time, I can assure you that they are mistaken. It had wide support. The same goes for the daft adventures in Afghanistan and Libya.

In fact, the last three did so much harm that it will never be measured. Together they began the era of mass migration from the Middle East and Africa to Western Europe. This is probably the biggest event in human history since the First World War, and perhaps bigger.

How can we do all this stamping about in foreign countries when we are so bad at governing our own and also not very strong? Our country doesn’t work properly. You can’t even see a doctor. The police are equally invisible. Our Army is as tiny as our debts are huge. Our grandest new warship, the aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales, has broken down. Even when it works, we have to borrow aircraft from the Americans to fly off it.

None of this will be properly discussed at the rapidly approaching General Election and nobody will stand in that poll who prefers reforming Britain to foreign policy fantasy abroad. Why do we put up with it?

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-11588573/PETER-HITCHENS-stir-trouble-foreign-countries-run-own.html

My rhetorical answer to Hitchens’ rhetorical question? This:

“The British/English people do not rebel against all of the above, not yet anyway, because they are bombarded with propaganda brainwashing 24/7, because few have either the independence of thought, or the (real) education, to stand against the tide, and because the “plebs” think that all that matters, or that the main matter of importance, is whether the “England” sports teams (which are now largely black or brown anyway) win some meaningless game, match, or tournament somewhere or other in the world.”

That, and because those in political life, those of great wealth, those in the mainstream media, who should all be protecting the people, are exactly those who, from malice, evil, or just sheer inability and lack of basic competence (as with “Boris”-idiot, Liz Truss, Woollyhead Trussbanger —Kwasi Kwarteng— etc), are encouraging migration-invasion of this country, are letting standards and services slide, and are preventing —by ever more repressive laws— even obviously justified criticism from being made. They are, in effect, signed up to the Coudenhove-Kalergi Plan.”

[the odd link immediately above now seems to be the only one for the interesting Western Spring article].

Incidentally, I see that the Daily Mail/Mail on Sunday is now, yet again, refusing to allow its readers to comment on Hitchens’ column, no doubt afraid that the readers will leave comments hostile to mass immigration, migration-invasion, “intervention” in foreign wars or countries, or even (could it be?) comments hostile to the Zelensky Jew-Zionist regime in Kiev…

Ha ha! Brilliant! Goed gedaan!

Interesting. I only saw that tweet today.

There are also other areas of society where there is a need for equity and justice.

Undeclared social nationalists in the right places, e.g. within the legal or “justice” system, could do a lot of good.

Don’t confuse real Romanian people with Roma Gypsies, though.

…and in England, most of the well-meaning (?) virtue-signallers who gave up parts of their homes to Ukrainians (often total ingrates) have found that they now cannot easily get rid of those nuisances (few of which are either genuine “refugees” or indeed poor).

Is that (the ยฃ8.4M) true? If so, how?

Liz Truss graduated from university in 1996. After that, she worked for Shell for not more than 4 years, until 2000. Her position was just a low-grade graduate-entry one, during which employment she also qualified as a management accountant; she left in 2000 to join Cable and Wireless, and was there for 4-5 years, but although she did eventually get appointed Economic Director, she was only at that level for a year or two at most.

Liz Truss was also Deputy Director of the Reform think-tank for a year or so (2008/2009).

After having won a House of Commons seat in 2010, Liz Truss was a backbench MP for 2 years, and gained minor preferment 2012-2014, joining Cabinet in 2016. She was, therefore, a Cabinet minister for 6 years until she became Prime Minister in 2022 for the notoriously and historically-short period of 44 disastrous days.

So from where does the ยฃ8.4M come? Surely not from her family, who though not poor were employed persons (father an academic, mother a schoolteacher); I have not heard tell of any considerable family money.

As for Truss’s long-suffering husband, he is a chartered accountant, so again, while not poor, scarcely living in great opulence amid heavy wealth.

Liz Truss cannot have begun to make more than a modest salary until about 2004, had 2-3 years out of employment (she has two children, and also took time out for reasons of political careerism etc) until 2008, and she ceased to be employed (prior to becoming an MP) in 2009 or early 2010. In other words, she probably only had ~4 years of relatively high earning.

A Cabinet minister and MP is paid a total of around ยฃ160,000 (plus expenses), but the ยฃ160K is taxed, and she was only earning that for 6 years.

The mystery or puzzle remains: if Liz Truss really does have assets of ยฃ8.4M (even if you include those of her husband) from where did the money come?

Ha ha! Look at the “selection process” for MPs. They are often selected either because they know the right people and/or went to school with them, or worked with them previously in some way; or they are selected because they have paper “qualifications” which look good but in reality are not worth a hill of beans.

For example, “Oxford degree” (which these days is scarcely worth squat, and 94% of them are now either “Firsts” or “upper seconds”).

Many MPs (refer to, e.g., my “Deadhead MPs” series on the blog) also more or less invent a fake CV— fake or embellished academics, non-existent private business “successes” (e.g. companies that were set up, but which actually made no money), worthless business or other qualifications and/or “letters after the name”, such as meaningless “doctorates”, or a couple of years at the bottom level of the Bar, or even membership of bodies such as the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA), etc.

All of the above, plus an air of confidence, easily impresses provincial selection committees.

Even those MPs exposed (later, after having been selected and then “elected”) usually manage to shrug off their dishonesty. Look at Iain Dunce Duncan Smith, an egregious example. Invented or hugely embellished his education (rock-bottom poor at secondary level, and then made up a fake degree from an Italian university he never actually attended; also turned a corporate in-house course lasting 2 weeks into a “management diploma”). Then his embellishment of a very underwhelming military career. And so on.

The fact is that Liz Truss is only one of very many MPs who are, in reality, mediocre or worse, and have been right from the start.

The world is not without kind people” [Russian proverb].

I certainly agree with that. This ghastly mess should never have happened as it has developed. The Russian High Command and GRU should have eliminated the Jew Zelensky —and his corrupt and dictatorial coterie— before (just before) launching an all-out and swift advance, including mass paratroop landings, on Kiev. One single and massive knockout blow for the sake of mercy, to save the civilian population from attack and misery, and to achieve the main objective before the NWO/ZOG support from USA etc could be mobilized.

The human cost (in Russia as well as in Ukraine) has been terrible: see tweet below

Saint-Just said that “no-one can rule guiltlessly“, but a leader must always be aware of the hurt even the most necessary actions entail. The human cost of war is terrible.

May be true. The Western msm is concealing other Kiev-regime war crimes (eg field-execution of Russians captured in battle or otherwise).

Radio loudmouth James O’Brien, one of the least pleasant msm drones. A rather ignorant person, posing as erudite and principled.

As blogged previously, my opinion of “Jack Monroe” has gone from mildly supportive (several years ago) to slightly critical (see my blog post of three months ago: https://ianrobertmillard.org/2022/09/30/diary-blog-30-september-2022-including-an-assessment-of-jack-monroe-aka-the-bootstrap-cook/) to very critical (now).

As for “her lawyer“, well that is or was the egregious Mark Lewis, now resident in Israel: see, e.g. https://ianrobertmillard.org/2019/01/11/update-re-mark-lewis-lawyer-questions-are-raised/.

The case in which Mark Lewis acted for “Jack Monroe”, as her solicitor (I believe that he instructed both leading and junior Counsel who appeared in court as her advocates) was a not-very-difficult defamation action against social commentator Katie Hopkins: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monroe_v_Hopkins.

Ms. Hopkins had to sell her house to cover not the award made (only ยฃ24,000) but the c.ยฃ300,000 legal costs, being mainly those of the claimant (“plaintiff“, as was): see https://www.devonlive.com/news/property/katie-hopkins-luxury-devon-home-1526502.

I am not sure that I believe that “Bootstrap Cook” now has a lawyer, as such, but we shall see. She threatened to sue MP Lee Anderson [Con, Ashfield], and Martin Daubney, “alt-right” (?) political commentator, but that was in mid-May this year, seven months ago. In theory, “Jack Monroe” has time, until early to mid-May 2023, in which to issue proceedings, but the courts may not take kindly to issuance which is only just in time, and so far no preliminary correspondence has been received (I read), so it is unlikely that any action will now take place.

Video commentary

Frequent readers of my blog will know that I am interested in the ~33-year cycle: 1923, 1956, 1989, 2022…

The vlogger above mentions other things that have resonated with me for some time, such as how few people really understand our technology; I do not mean how to use it, but how to recreate, or even to repair it if necessary. Very very few.

Late tweets

The “Jack Monroe”/”Bootstrap Cook” fall from grace continues to stir the Twitter teacup:

Fake indeed. I heard some inside track in 2010 (well before the election which brought into being the “Con Coalition”) about planned slashing of spending by the Labour Government.

For people such as tweeter “David Townsend” (“@DavidTo60389264”), creatures such as the Swedish Autistic, Meghan Mulatta, and “Jack Monroe” are somehow fighters for the Good. What can one say?

Christmas University Challenge

Once again, watched a heat of the pre-Christmas alumni contest, this time the School of Oriental and African Studies [SOAS], London University, against Balliol College, Oxford.

I think that I recognized only one player, the Daily Telegraph journalist/commentator, Sherelle Jacobs [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherelle_Jacobs].

As I expected, Balliol won easily but, to be frank, were no better than mediocre. As for SOAS, the oft-seen term “OMG!” is what comes to mind. One half-caste-looking youngish woman whose name I cannot now recall (she apparently specializes in “racism”…wouldn’t you know?…) actually thought that Mozart was still alive in 1976! There were several other absurdities almost as incredible from her and the other SOAS alumni. Almost unbelievable, even for a cynic (reluctant cynic) such as me.

How did I do? Better than both teams put together, to be immodestly frank.
