Frankly, I think that those citizens are heroes, albeit that they arguably went too far in the heat of the moment. The sentences of “life, with minimum 21 years” (the father) and 19 years (the son) were very very harsh in all the circumstances. I should have thought that a minimum term served of, say, 5 years, would have been enough to mark any judicial disapproval (judicial, not societal— most British people would back the father and son, at least in principle).
The police too often show themselves completely unfit for purpose, useless, and the same is often true of the courts. People like singer and satirist Alison Chabloz actually get imprisoned in the UK for (in her case) lampooning some Jewish behaviour in song or in cartoons, while real criminals, who stab or slash people, or steal cars etc, are effectively let off.
Finally, I see that the Daily Mail has shown no photograph of the killed individual. I wonder why not…

Where I tend to agree with Griffin, if that is part of his point, is that broadcasting podcasts etc has only a limited utility because podcasts etc have only a limited reach. I myself had not heard of the defendant concerned until his arrest some months ago. I had not heard any of his material.
If I, someone interested in political and dissident matters, had heard nothing of that defendant (not even his name), how many members of the public generally will have heard of the man or his material? Few, it seems to me.
Of course, it is wrong that the defendant was ever prosecuted, and the sentence (for expressing opinions) savage (akin to what might happen in jurisdictions such as Belarus).

I knew that this sort of censorship happened. I have long argued that the most pernicious “cancel culture” is the one directed toward pro Palestinian speech. But I was shocked at how blatant it was. They were very clear I was being fired for criticism of US policy toward Israel.
I am lucky, however, that I have an independent platform at my own small leftist magazine. This means that I have more ability to speak, because I can survive without getting another newspaper column. If I was freelance it would be much more difficult.
The editor in chief told me, in writing, that I wasn’t allowed to tell anyone that he was policing my tweets because officially I was “free to speak.” He tried to “confidentially” patrol my public speech. But I am not going to keep something like that silent.

Well, there it is. Britain in 2021…
In the 1980s and later, I myself would sometimes visit that market, off Edgware Road, more to walk through than buy, though I did once buy an excellent-quality 2-flask spirit set in tan leather-covered steel from a woman vending from an old suitcase (and probably without a licence). I have experienced similar problems with the police a few times over the past few years, particularly in 2017 and 2018. A good headline point. The contrived “virus” situation has not only exposed how empty of content our society now is, and its institutions especially (as I blogged months ago) but also has led to where we are now, a kind of shadow society. The oddest thing is that, in the UK and elsewhere (eg USA), public horror (arguably exaggerated) re. underage sex activity goes together with the actual encouragement of such activity in the West since the 1960s. The history of the Roman Catholic Church is intimately bound up with our Western civilization. Some of its achievements have been stellar; some of its sins huge. However, the central fact is that the institution is now nearing the end of its time.
The behaviour of the modern Chinese (as a group, and China as a state) is often ghastly and backward. The treatment of the peoples of Western China is one example. However, the comment about the falling European birth-rate, and so the proportion of Europeans in the world, is simple fact. We are being outbred. We need to take care of that in several ways.

I disagree anyway with the “lockdown(s)”, with the shutting down of the economy and society, and one can see that countries such as Sweden have everything working, and a lower death rate (per 1,000) than the UK.
In the end, our society has to bite the bullet. It seems that the young are scarcely affected, and that even the middle-aged are only somewhat affected. In addition, English and other real British (i.e. white) people are affected less than non-white (including Jews).
I myself am in at least one vulnerable group, at age 64, but say that the time has come to junk all the nonsense of the past 8+ months and revive the society and economy.
It is time to say “Enough!” and open everything up. Let the chips fall where they may.
