The Gorton and Denton by-election.

I have blogged my views in previous blog posts over the past month or so. Now the voters are voting, and the result will be known tonight or tomorrow. All three main contenders —Reform, Green, Labour— are neck-and-neck.

  • The Struma was actually originally a steam-powered luxury yacht but was old and was being used as a cattle transport on the Danube before being outfitted with a cheap old second-hand diesel engine for the voyage.
  • The jews on board all paid the Betar movement (the Revisionist Zionist Youth Movement) large amounts of money for their tickets to go to Palestine and Betar handled everything else. Originally the Haganah were going to use the Struma for the same thing but from Bulgaria to Palestine.
  • The jews on board were from Romania not the Third Reich plus 60 members of the Betar movement and their leaving Romania had the support and encouragement of the Romanian government.
  • Betar lied to the jewish passengers and claimed they were just going to make a short stop in Turkey to ‘collect their visas for Palestine’.
  • Betar only put two lifeboats on the Struma for 791 crew and passengers.
  • Betar packed the bottom of the ship with bunkbeds so as to cram as many jewish passengers in as possible.
  • The diesel engine immediately failed when the Struma was getting out of the harbour in Romania.
  • The Romanian navy towed the Struma at Betar’s request out to sea and through the Axis minefields to make sure they were okay. Then the Romanians left while Betar tried to repair their diesel motor.
  • Betar failed to repair the Struma’s diesel engine and signalled distress. The Romanian navy returned and Betar demanded the Romanians fix their engine for free; the Romanians refused and requested to be paid for their time and the parts. Betar refused to pay the Romanians so the passengers paid the Romanians with their wedding rings instead; the Romanians then fixed the Stuma’s engine.
  • Two days later the Struma’s engine promptly failed again and she was towed into Istanbul harbour by the Turkish navy on 15th December 1941.
  • It was then revealed that Betar hadn’t arranged any visas to Palestine at all for the passengers or the Betar youth. The British refused them permission to migrate to Palestine as illegal immigrants (per the British White Paper of 1939 on this) and Turkey refused to grand them entry as illegal immigrants (so as to not encourage more such immigration and burden their tax payers and ports).
  • Weeks of negotiation followed between the British and Turks; the jews then ran out of food and refused to let Turkish police board the Struma. The result was the British honoured expired visas for Palestine held by a couple of the passengers plus granted visas to any jew who was 11-16 years old. While the Turks hospitalized one jew who was ill but the bulk of the jews didn’t fit this criteria. However neither the British or the Turks agreed to take these jewish illegal immigrants.
  • The Turkish government spent weeks trying to repair the Struma’s engine but failed. Eventually the Turkish authorities had had enough of jews demanding things from them (food, immigration visas, free repairs etc) so they towed the Struma out to international waters for jewish organizations or another country to sort out.
  • The Struma floats around a bit with no engine; jewish groups make no attempt to rescue the crew and passengers.
  • Soviet submarine Shch-213 on secret orders to engage in unrestricted submarine warfare sinks the Struma which is still overcrowded and only has two lifeboats.
  • The Turkish navy tries to effect a rescue but are too late.

In other words: the Struma disaster was almost entirely the fault of the Betar Zionist Youth organization and nothing to do with the Axis whatsoever with the only minimal blame going to the British, the Soviets and the Turks.“]

As previously blogged, I have found that the betting market is a poor predictor of by-election results, and anyway, at time of writing there is still a 5-hour window in which eligible voters can vote. The Greens may win, but Reform and Goodwin also have a sporting chance, despite the fact that a third of the voters in that semi-ghetto are non-white.

Whichever party wins the by-election, it is clear that the old “three main (LibLabCon) parties” rigged scam is finished. It is also clear that the voters are now mainly voting on ethnic lines. What will matter in the future is not who has the most votes, but who has the most, and best, soldiers.

As blogged yesterday, the latest opinion polling puts Reform, Labour, and the Greens within about one percentage point of each other in the Gorton and Denton by-election contest. It’s wide open, with less than 24 hours before the real polls open.

I do not agree with that conclusion. I still think that Reform (Matt Goodwin) could do this. All three main contenders (the others are jokes and wasted votes) are within one point of each other, around 28% (so not far off the 30% each I predicted weeks ago on the blog).

What surprises me, even in a constituency full of uncultured, uneducated Pakistani Muslims and former tribal-Labour English, is that over a quarter of voters are, even now, going to vote Labour! What do they have between their ears? Not brains, I think.

That has occurred to me, as have several other theories. One of those would be that Farage wants Reform to be a kind of populist “Conservative” party with a few add-ons, whereas Matt Goodwin is halfway to social-nationalism (having started his ideological journey, years ago, as a kind of “anti-fascist” academic stooge-type. I think he even tweeted against me once or twice). Certainly Farage has not been very supportive of Goodwin during the by-election campaign.

It occurred to me that Mandelson might (but probably would not) flee to Israel, as a Jew with “right of return”, and I put that on the blog about a week ago, but the BVI (British Virgin Islands)?! Absurd. The BVI is a British Overseas Territory, so not a safe place of sanctuary.

2) High-tech contributes 17% of Israel’s GDP and 57% of its exports. The The Israel Innovation Authority warns that a sustained loss of these “innovation drivers” could lead to a permanent slowdown in growth and investment.
3) The exit of doctors exacerbates an already critical shortage of medical personnel, potentially leading to longer wait times and reduced quality of care.
4) As secular, liberal-leaning Israelis leave, the remaining population tilts more toward religious and nationalist sectors. This shift could further deepen internal polarization and fundamentally alter the “social contract” that binds Israeli society.
5) For the first time in 15 years, Israel has seen a negative migration balance, challenging the Zionist vision of the country as a primary safe haven for Jews worldwide.

Israel continues to move towards a future as a theocratic, authoritarian state. It will also be a poorer one with less innovation.“]

Ah, so Farage did visit the Gorton and Denton constituency, maybe more than once. Other tweets show that he is there right now.

The polls open at 0700 hrs tomorrow morning. A few votes may decide the issue.

Whether Matt Goodwin wins it for Reform, or the Greens win it, or even if Labour retains the seat by a whisker, any of those outcomes will show that Labour is on the way out. Labour scored 50.8% there in 2024, so any result less than 1. a Labour win but also 2. with at least 40% of the votes cast, is bad for Labour and for Starmer. Gorton and Denton has always been a “tribal” Labour area.

Thus speaks the typical “Westminster Bubbler”, or political gossip insider. Politics as a matter of organization, “comms”, a get-the-vote-out local machine etc.

Dan Hodges may be right, and all of the above matter.

For me, the actual result is not the main thing. For one thing, a third of the voters are Muslims, mostly Pakistanis. As far as I am concerned, their participation renders the vote non-legitimate anyway, if it results in a win for Labour or the Greens.

Secondly, what matters is that, even were Labour to win with, say, 35% of the vote, that means that in most of the country, in places where Labour is not part of a secular trinity (Labour-NHS-football), Labour is toast.

Life is complex.

There are very many systems of numerology. Under one of the simplest (applicable to Latin-alphabet languages), A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4, E=5, F=6, G=7, H=8, I=9, J=1, K=2, L=3, M=4, N=5, O=6, P=7, Q=8, R=9, S=1, T=2, U=3, V=4, W= 5, X=6, Y=7, Z=9.


Under that system, Ian Robert Millard would be:

Ian 9+1+5 = 15. Then 1+5 = 6.

Robert 9+6+2+5+9+2 = 33. Then 3+3 = 6.

Millard 4+9+3+3+1+9+4 = 33. Then 3+3 = 6.

So Ian Robert Millard = 666.

Life is not that simple, though. I am not “the Beast” or, indeed, the ruler of the world but, like Parzival/Parsifal, a human soul hopefully “slowly wise“, and living the quietest and most peaceful and obscure of lives, at least most of the time.

Something has to be done to reverse this situation.

I have blogged previously, several times, about the Gorton and Denton by-election. From (obviously) a considerable distance, I see it as being very close among Reform/Greens/Labour, but I just cannot see who would vote Labour now, in that seat or elsewhere.

Having said that, the one-third of eligible voters in the by-election who are Pakistani Muslims are hard to fathom. Many cannot even speak English, and their educational level is probably rock-bottom. Who knows what their motivations might be? Labour is said to have an effective electoral machine up there (though journalists say that little has been seen of Labour canvassers etc).

I can see the dilemma of the Muslim voters, perhaps unwilling to vote Labour because it is a Labour Friends of Israel misgovernment, also unwilling (perhaps) to vote Green because Green policies include the decriminalization of both drugs (all drugs) and pornography (all pornography?), yet unwilling to vote for the (supposedly) anti-migration-invasion Reform UK.

The Muslims would probably have voted for George Galloway or his candidate, but he has endorsed the Green Party candidate, thus greatly boosting the Greens’ chances.

I should imagine that most white English/British voters in the seat will be voting Reform; we shall see. To vote any other way would be turkeys voting for Christmas.

My own feeling is that Matt Goodwin, for Reform, could still do this, but it may run very close.

Reform’s weakness has always been its finance-capitalist and also its pro-Israel, pro-Jewish lobby orientation. Farage welcoming deadheads, freeloaders, and/or non-Brits such as Nadine Dorries, Nadhim Zahawi etc has weakened the Reform “brand”, no question. Matt Goodwin himself has openly criticized that, and Farage has (retaliation?) gone to the Chagos Islands (well, offshore there) instead of slogging it out on the by-election front-lines with Goodwin. Not impressive.

Were Reform more social-national, even it it fell far short of my policy positions, it would be on 50% in the opinion polls, not between 24% and 28%.

That poll shows not only Con and Lab, but also the Greens and LibDems almost on the same level: 18%, 18%, 17%, and 14%. Reform still leading the pack, though not convincingly.

Of course, a victory for Reform in the by-election would certainly give them a national boost.

Incidentally, that latest poll would indicate a Commons with about 291 Reform MPs (some distance short of a majority), Greens 80 (official, albeit very weak, Opposition!), Cons 79, LibDems 74, Labour 53, SNP 45 [etc].

Starmer-stein and those behind him (Israel lobby, Jewish lobby, MOSSAD, the Trilateral Commission, NWO/ZOG etc) are desperate not to have exposed the conspiracy that has embedded itself in Labour— and in the UK as a whole.

My thoughts exactly. About 30 stooges in the hired function room of some hotel (look at the chandelier), holding up placards in order to make a photo for social media and the newspapers.

If the reports are accurate, then we may not be far from nuclear war. Were that to happen, both Britain and France, as we know them, will cease to exist.

The UK must stop backing the brutal, corrupt, and shambolic Kiev regime, which is living on borrowed time and “borrowed” money.

I believe that that uninfluential Twitter/X account is or was run by a Jewish woman who tweeted once or twice, inaccurately, about me, though years ago.

Whatever the truth of that, Amazon is thoroughly under “the usual” baleful influence. I was once a “top 50” reviewer (in the UK) on Amazon UK, voted so by readers, but a concerted campaign of faked complaint by Jews meant that hundreds of my reviews were deleted with neither warning nor any right of appeal. One Jew, a “Daniel Sevitt” (now resident in Ra’anana near Tel Aviv, but of UK-resident origins) organized it, I discovered later (he admitted his crime publicly, online, and in fact appeared proud of his activity). He now “replies” on Twitter/X, and in very insolent terms to any anti-Israel tweeters (who never addressed him in the first place). Another Jewish-Zionist loonie. https://x.com/danielsevitt.

In fact, even the Jewish Chronicle reported on the then-“anonymous” complaint about my reviews, prior to their removal.

I then started to review on the Amazon USA site but, not long after that, and with no warning, every single one of my reviews was removed. Same Jew? I do not know for evidential certain, but it had to be. Anyway, who cares whether it was Jew “X”, Jew “Y” or Jew “Z”? Same thing.

Many of those reviews, probably the majority, were neither about Jews, Israel, WW2 etc, nor even mentioned those topics, incidentally.

So much for “freedom of expression”, not only in the UK but also in the USA. The (((influence))) is pervasive. For now…

Maybe one or two of those Iranian missiles being prepared will, in case of war breaking out again, go astray. One can but hope.

Israel was founded mainly by the sweepings of the ghettos and prisons of Europe, partly by terrorism and ethnic cleansing. “They” just have better weapons now.

Exactly. I do not know whether Farage is weakening Reform UK deliberately, or simply out of ineptitude. I have blogged before, some long time ago, about how Farage is not really a very clever politician. That of course sounds counter-intuitive after the repeated near-successes— UKIP, Brexit Party and now, writ much larger, Reform UK.

It seems absurd in a way, to think that Farage may be a System catspaw, but his actions are sometimes very strange for someone leading an insurgent political force. Also, when Farage entered the Chamber of the House of Commons for the first time, Starmer himself crossed the floor and welcomed him, with every sign of genuine bonhomie. Simple courtesy? “Democratic” politicians’ comity? Maybe…

The Reform “brand” has definitely been weakened by having the previously-Con ministers and MPs, mostly corrupt, freeloading, or incompetent, joining on a quasi-senior level.

There is something very fishy about the whole of Farage’s behaviour. Deep-cover NWO/ZOG agent?

That by-election is going to be close, perhaps very close.

Hannah Spencer is a typical pseudo-liberal hypocrite and fake. In fact, I doubt whether she is really “a plumber” at all. She may be, I suppose, but she looks like a fake generally to me.

As to the Green Party, its leader is a Jew with a fake name. Even the Jews generally seem to dislike him.

Why? Because —leaving aside the details and the nuances— the USA was one of two world superpowers, or maybe even then the only real one. Now it is certainly the only real superpower, and with that come the responsibilities and problems of empire.

Within a decade, the USA will probably be joined, as a world superpower, by China.

Of course, if the USA provokes a war with Russia, China may then be left as the sole world superpower, the other two contenders having, in that contingency, ruled themselves out by destroying each other.

Don’t forget the Jew-Zionists. They are the ones predominantly trying to close down free speech and freedom of expression in the UK, using contrived complaints to police, Crown Prosecution Service, and professional regulators, as well as themselves undertaking malicious private prosecutions (so-called “lawfare”), to that end.

Had I been the sort of person who trims and compromises for careerist reasons, I could have joined a “mainstream” party decades ago, and might now be an MP, even Prime Minister, who knows? Well, the betting (see below, taken from a random tweet seen) is heavily on the Green clowns to win at Gorton and Denton, but I have found over the past 10-15 years that betting odds are a poor predictor of by-election results.

My own assessment, admittedly from far away geographically (central-southern coast) is that there is all to play for, bearing in mind that over a quarter of the voters there are saying that they are as yet undecided (or are many of the “undecided” really secret Reform sympathisers? We shall find out on Thursday).

One thing is for sure. Any vote not for Reform, Green, or Labour is a totally wasted vote.

Matt Goodwin has now, suddenly, at the peak of the by-election campaigning, had the System msm bring up various stray allegations against him. “Black propaganda”. That, despite Goodwin being pro-Jew, pro-Israel etc.

The System is afraid of someone such as Goodwin, who is not completely under (((control))) and who veers toward a slightly social-national socio-political stance, becoming an MP. Types such as Farage and Tice are not a real danger to the System.

I can see that a society might develop in the UK, a society that is so dystopian, that only firing squads in the streets would be able to restore law and order…

Whatever Farage may be doing, Goodwin is hitting hard on all of the important by-election issues. I still think he can pull this off, with a fair wind behind him.

It seems to me that Gorton and Denton has all the problems of the rest of the UK but writ large because it is and always was a deprived area. Labour is patently not going to win convincingly, and probably not at all. Labour’s 2024 50.8% of the vote might end up being, in the by-election, 30%, 25%, 20%, maybe even 15%. The voters that vote (i.e. those that are not already in a state of apathetic despair, and the 2024 General Election turnout was only 46.8%…) will be looking for salvation wherever they see it: Reform, or even the increasingly loonie Greens. The Muslim factor is important too. Starmer’s regime is a Labour Friends of Israel one. Muslims are around a third of Gorton and Denton voters.

On the wider picture, this by-election will be around why Britain is increasingly sliding, why “nothing works” (or works properly), and why society itself, as a whole, is ceasing to work, or function properly. Also, the issue of the disconnect between the 5% or 1% who are becoming ever-wealthier, and the other 95%-99%. The msm and the Westminster Bubblers (politicos, scribblers, talking heads on radio and TV) are almost all in the “everything’s OK really in the UK” camp. Few other people are.

It is really quite funny how out of touch msm Westminster Bubblers such as Dan Hodges are. Now and then, opinion polling organizations ask members of the public whether they have heard of prominent politicians. Often, even members of the Cabinet score below 10%.

Starmer-stein clings to his own job, and will do until people start to stamp on his fingers to make him let go. Starmer also keeps members of the Jewish lobby that surrounds him in place for as long as possible.

Also, the numbers only add up to 96%. Not very convincing.

Regular readers of the blog may recall that, weeks ago, I was thinking that the “big three” at Gorton and Denton (Reform UK, Green Party, Labour) would all come in around 30%, and that the result might be very close. Since then, my long-distance view has altered to the extent that I feel that Labour is lagging behind the other two, with Reform possibly leading marginally from the Greens.

Today, while I think that Labour has faltered and probably failed, it may still be able to muster about half of the 50.8% it scored in 2024. It has a well-oiled machine for getting votes out, as corrupt “democratic” parties often do. Still, my view remains that this will be between the Greens and Reform, and the Greens are being exposed as rather loonie as the days go by.

Many former Labour voters may simply abstain. Many undecideds may also abstain, but who knows?

If I had to guess, it would be Reform, and there is no doubt that Matt Goodwin is the standout candidate as an individual, but there is no certainty.

Starmer-stein’s failed regime is toast, though, unless Labour can actually win (and, realistically, win by a good margin, in view of last year’s 50.8%).

The Gorton and Denton by-election is only one seat, but a very solid Labour seat until last year. To lose it will send a strong signal that Starmer-stein’s government has run out of road with the voters.

Another —possibly historic— defeat, not only for the Starmer-stein Labour Friends of Israel misgovernment, but also for the “fifth column” Jewish/Zionist lobby itself. One of a string of defeats for them recently.

As I blogged at the time, it was and is ridiculous to label anyone holding up a placard or shouting a slogan as, in effect, a “terrorist”. It devalues the whole concept of what a “terrorist” is, or is perceived to be. Bad law. Bad policy. Bad political judgment.

Apparently, the Government will be appealing, however.

People are getting sick of Jewish/Zionist “lawfare”, the abuse of UK law and process to impose political repression on people. Two of the most notorious cabals (in effect, in practice, volunteer arms of the Israeli Embassy in London) are the malicious “Campaign Against Antisemitism” [“CAA”] and “UK Lawyers for Israel” [UKLFI]. They suborn politicians, woodentopped police, CPS “fat ladies” etc, and try to have those opposed to Israel and/or Jewish supremacy prosecuted by police/CPS; failing that, they engage in private prosecutions, as with several recent failed cases, such as the Reginald D. Hunter case.

Ha ha! Jew-Zionists and/or pro-Zionists complaining about a “complaint culture” when I, among many others, have been subjected to many many complaints by Jews, in my case wanting to shut down my then Twitter account (they actually succeeded in doing that, in 2018, despite my thousands of Twitter “followers”), and my blog (no, that is still published on a near-daily basis, and has been for over 8 years).

I was also disbarred (both wrongfully and in fact unlawfully, as the Bar Standards Board later admitted to me in writing), by reason of a complaint by the Jews of “UK Lawyers for Israel”.

Stephen Silverman [@ssilvuk on Twitter/x], the self-styled “Head of Investigations and Enforcement” at the “Campaign Against Antisemitism” (a tiny but well-funded cabal) has himself, over the past decade and more, made (himself and/or using Jewish proxies sympathetic to the “CAA”) many complaints against me to police etc, including a completely invented claim, in 2021, that I had “racially harassed” him.

Silverman should have been charged with attempted perversion of the course of justice, and still could be, in theory; also “wasting police time” (though, in relation to me in 2021, the time limitation for the latter is now past that limit). The police, though, have often been easily bamboozled and used by the “CAA”.

The police and Crown Prosecution Service need to find, like the characters in The Wizard of Oz, both courage and a brain.

Silverman actually turned up at my free speech trial to gloat, and was so disappointed at the (four months later) sentencing hearing (disappointed that the court’s relative leniency (I should never have been convicted, or indeed prosecuted at all) that he scuttled away very quickly.

Though Silverman gave no evidence at my trial (no doubt afraid of what I should have put to him directly in cross-examination (I defended myself), I saw him, while the court was in recess) actually go into the conference room where the CPS and their outside prosecution Counsel were conferring; it looked like he invited himself in. The police and CPS were, in my free speech trial, acting as puppets for the Jewish lobby. It was there, in plain sight.

I think that, had the quite fair district judge been able to find a technical reason to stop the trial at “half-time”, he (sitting alone) would have acquitted me, but was loath simply to acquit me at the end, and on the basis that the half-dozen cartoons and remarks allegedly posted by me, and which formed the basis of the prosecution case, were not “grossly offensive“. To that extent, the Jewish-lobby/political fix was in, I believe.

I have wondered (including on the blog) whether many of the “never vote” unengaged electors might suddenly emerge, not only at the Gorton and Denton by-election, but at the next general election, both in that constituency and others. As blogged before, while I disagree with Goodwin on several issues, notably Israel/Jews etc, he is the standout candidate at that by-election, and would quite plainly be of far more use to the inhabitants of Gorton and Denton than either the pseudo-Green plumber lady or, a fortiori, the quangocrat/public relations woman from Greece that Labour has selected. He is also about as intelligent as the other two put together.

Would translate to a Commons with about 378 Reform MPs (very solid majority), 66 LibDems (very weak official Opposition), 61 Labour, 45 SNP, 32 Cons, and 30 Greens [etc].

Incidentally, on those figures, both Kemi Badenoch and Keir Starmer would retain their seats, but (on the Labour side) all the obvious rivals of Starmer would lose theirs— Yvette Cooper, Rachel Reeves, West Streeting, Angela Rayner, and (new entry) Alistair “Al” Carns.

The Kiev regime knows that it is losing the war, in essence has already lost it, and is living on borrowed time (and “borrowed” money…).

Don’t forget the others who are not truly indigenous. Not just the obvious. There are several groups.

I have noted that on the blog a few times recently: Greens odds-on, despite the apparent local support for Reform UK. As for Labour, over 8/1 on Betfair.

Just looked on Betfair (which uses a decimal system, not the traditional odds-format). Greens are quite heavily odds-on, about 1/3, Reform around 9/2, which seems ridiculous and a pretty good bet at that price. Labour 10/1. I doubt that Labour will win, but 10/1 is also a value bet in what seems to be a 3-horse race in which all three do have at least a plausible chance.

Just checked Coral bookmakers. They have the Greens on 4/11, so a very heavy favourite; Reform UK at 7/2, Labour at 8/1.

The Conservatives, LibDems, and Advance UK are all at 200/1, and all others (Monster Raving Loony, Libertarian Party, SDP, Rejoin EU, and the Communist League) are at 500/1.

I suppose that some mugs believe “Tommy Robinson”. The truth must lie elsewhere, especially since Israel, which “Tommy” vociferously supports, seems to have backed, albeit covertly, the ISIS barbarians.

If, however, that is a genuine police telephone call, it may relate to a comment by one individual ISIS barbarian, maybe a UK supporter, rather than ISIS as such. Hard to say. “Robinson” has, however, recently been even more vocal in support of Israel etc.

Triggers a few memories.

When I lived in Almaty, Kazakhstan (1996-1997), I lived on Prospekt Lenina, one of the main boulevards. One day, I heard that an American who apparently lived across the (very wide) boulevard from me had been found tortured to death in an armchair in his own apartment.

At the time, I was sole expat lawyer for a British firm in Kazakhstan. The other office staff, however, about 5 people, were under a Kazakh ex-policeman turned fake lawyer (I am sure that he had either bought or forged his qualifications).

This individual in my office had links to the KNB, the renamed Kazakhstan KGB, and told me that the murdered American had been a gay who had picked up two men at a casino. They had murdered him, thinking that he had cash. They had also stolen items from the apartment.

What interested me most about the story, however, was the assertion that, because the KNB had apparently suspected the American (a supposed journalist, working for an obscure Texas-based journal, of which no-one had ever heard) of being a CIA operative, and so had bugged that man’s apartment (both audio and video). There was therefore both audio and video evidence of the torture and murder, though (sadly for the victim) not seen until the next day. Had the KNB been watching in real time, they would have been able to save the victim.

The murderers were, it seems, arrested the next day, and (of course) confessed. I imagine that they were shown the evidence, but would very likely have confessed even had there been no evidence at all. The Kazakh police are rather rough.

There were few foreigners resident in Almaty at that time. I was told that there were about 50 Brits, and quite a few more Americans (in a city of, even then, nearly 2M inhabitants). I doubt, though, whether I myself was suspected of being more than a boring/innocent expat lawyer, but who knows?

Incidentally, I went for a talk at the British Embassy there, not long afterwards, about “personal security”, given by a visiting expert from London. I was often at the Embassy anyway, had met the Ambassador and others several times (and it was walking distance from my home).

There were about 30 British people, businessmen mostly, assembled to hear the words of wisdom.

The “visiting expert” was a bit of an odd bod, a former member of British Army intelligence, and who wore a brown leather coat with a matching leather hat. “Von Smallhausen” mentioned the murder of the American, cast doubt on the idea that he had been a journalist, and also mentioned the not dissimilar case of a Swiss banker, also murdered in the city not long before.

The “visiting expert” also said that most expats he had met on his brief visit had assured him that Almaty was safe for foreigners, yet he himself had visited a nightclub in the centre of the city a day or two previously and, on exiting the club, had tripped over a dead body.

I have to say that I never had serious trouble while I lived in Kazakhstan (1 year), and what minor trouble I did have was handled one way or another. There again, I usually avoid nightclubs, bars, and casinos in most parts of the world. In fact, unlike most foreigners in Almaty at that time, I not only travelled by car but also on foot and even by local bus, trolleybus, and tram (there was no Metro at the time). My then girlfriend remarked that I had to be the only foreigner in the city with a monthly public transport pass, though I had my own driver to take me to the office and back. I like to wander and explore alone sometimes.

Apparently, Tony Blair has been talking up the possibility of —of all people— Shabana Mahmood taking over from Keir Starmer, and so becoming, by default, Prime Minister! Jesus H. Christ! Has the woman not been over-promoted enough? She has already been appointed as Justice Secretary/Lord Chancellor and, since then, Home Secretary, despite having not practised at the Bar (beyond her one-year pupillage); she was a salaried “gopher” at a firm of solicitors for about 2 years after that.

Actually, I hope she does take over. That would sink the Labour Party completely.

Gorton and Denton by-election

My own views about the likely result of the Gorton and Denton by-election have not changed from a day or two ago. Reform seem to be in pole position, and Labour very much on the back foot (every day more scandal), but the Green Party may also be getting not only their own former (2024) voters’ votes (about 13% in 2024) but also votes from both disenchanted English/British former Labour voters and from equally disenchanted Pakistani (etc) Muslim former Labour voters.

That triad of support for the Greens may add up to something formidable, though my money is, I think, still on Reform to win this. For Labour to win would take a minor miracle, the way things are, despite Labour’s 50.8% vote at GE 2024, and despite the history of the area.

Many well-meaning but fatally-naive people still have a sadly-ingrained respect or deference to anyone in a position such as MP, Cabinet minister, certainly Prime Minister (or “royal prince”…). Unfortunately, the past 16+ years have shown that many, perhaps most, are clowns and/or freeloaders and moneygrubbers. More about the Gorton and Denton by-election

Now that Galloway and his Workers’ Party have decided not to stand, the Green Party vote-share will inevitably increase, most if not all of potential Galloway voters being Muslims who will now pivot to the Greens, as against Starmer-stein’s Labour Friends of Israel misgovernment and its just-announced candidate, a Greek woman, born in Greece, and who seems to be a kind of “quangocrat” type.

As previously blogged, it seems to me that this may be a close match between Reform and the Greens. Labour did score 50.8% at GE 2024 not even a year ago but, since then, the Starmer government has failed on almost all fronts. I give it a couple of ticks in respect of a few smaller matters, but on the big things it has failed, abjectly.

I am thinking that the Labour vote percentage at the by-election might be around two-thirds of where it was at GE 2024. That would be in line with the national “Labour intending” vote (as expressed in recent opinion polls). Labour scored 33.7% at GE 2024, but at present is polling somewhere around 20%.

If replicated at the by-election, that would perhaps reduce the Lab vote to around 30% or so. The remaining ~20% seen at GE 2024 will either not vote (and that might be the main option, this being only a by-election) or will go Green or Reform, maybe half and half of the remainder.

Reform scored only 14.1% at GE 2024 (2nd place), but might get another 5% via former Labour voters, another 5% out of the 7.9% the Con Party scored at GE 2024, and perhaps will also get votes from people who normally do not vote. Call it 30% overall.

As for the Greens, they were 3rd-placed at GE 2024—they got 13.2%, and the Workers’ Party got 10.3%, so assuming that all of the latter join with the former, that makes somewhere not far short of 24%. Add about 5% from disenchanted former Labour voters, and the Greens might also get 30% at the by-election.

So there it is. The best I can do is think that Reform, the Greens, and Labour will all end up with somewhere around 30% of the total vote. May be a very close result, though my gut tells me that Labour may just collapse. No proof of that, just a nagging feeling.

There are 10 candidates in all. Those other than the main three will probably share about 10% of the total vote. Advance UK may take some votes away from Matt Goodwin and Reform, but I think not many. Only Reform has the public profile to possibly win the by-election, and that might persuade people who like Advance UK [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advance_UK] or its candidate, Nick Buckley [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Buckley], to switch to Reform.

As for the LibDems and the very minor or joke candidates, all but irrelevant.

Hard to call, but the momentum is surely with Reform UK at this point.

I have advocated for 9 years, since the blog started, establishment of “safe zones” for white English/British people in the less-accessible parts of our countryside, and in particular in the South West. It was a major part of why I started the blog at all.

Goodwin may or may not win, but he must have a very good chance in the Gorton and Denton by-election. If former Conservative Party voters have any sense (which I doubt), they will vote tactically for Reform. The Con Party candidate, a rather mannish woman and ex-detective, has no chance anyway (Con Party only got 7.9% at GE 2024, and will probably lose its deposit at the by-election).

Incidentally, I saw a typically silly piece by Zoe Williams in the Guardian, saying that “Goodwin is the most extreme Reform candidate yet”. What would the silly woman think of me?…
