I was sent some interesting quotations from Hitler. I do not at present have the citations (probably from Mein Kampf, possibly from the WW2 transcripts published in the 1950s as, in English editions, Hitler’s Table Talk), but will add them as and when. The quotations certainly read as if authentic. I believe them to be authentic.
“The ignorance of the broad masses about the inner nature of the Jew, the lack of instinct and narrow-mindedness of our upper classes, make the people an easy victim for this Jewish campaign of lies.”
“While from innate cowardice the upper classes turn away from a man whom the Jew attacks with lies and slander, the broad masses from stupidity or simplicity believe everything. The state authorities either cloak themselves in silence or, what usually happens, in order to put an end to the Jewish press campaign, they persecute the unjustly attacked.”
That sounds just like that which happened to me when I was wrongfully and unlawfully disbarred in October 2016.
“Culturally, the Jew contaminates art, literature, the theatre, makes a mockery of natural feeling, overthrows all concepts of beauty and sublimity, of the noble and the good, and instead drags men down into the sphere of his own base nature. Religion is ridiculed, ethics and morality represented as outmoded until the last props of a nation in its struggle for existence in this world have fallen.“
Exactly what has gone on for decades in “British” television and publishing (etc).

🔴The drop in living standards is bigger than during the financial crisis, the slump of the early 1990s or the stagflationary turmoil of the 1970s, even taking into account government help with energy bills
Were there a social-national party and/or movement worth anything, this would be, probably, the moment of lift-off (once the majority of the public start to suffer). As it is, as social-national people we look upon what is happening as mere observers, not active players.
Twitter is rotten. I myself was expelled (“suspended“, in Twitter’s weasel vocabulary) in 2018, after a pack of Jews finally managed, after years of trying, to get Twitter to remove my “account” (“@ianrmillard“).
As I predicted many months ago, Elon Musk turned out to be too intelligent to buy Twitter, once the results of his due diligence enquiries came in. It’s simply a dishonest organization (and one which is basically unprofitable, as most of its history shows).

I really dislike tattoos, especially —though not exclusively— on women.
Perhaps the only thing the SS and orthodox Jews had in common was a prohibition on tattoos, though some (not all) SS officers and men, mainly Waffen-SS, had their blood group tattooed under the arm in case of requiring a transfusion in or immediately after battle. As for Jews, if detained, they were tattooed compulsorily, with a prisoner number.

People should not be treated in such a shabby manner (by the NHS system, not staff), yet the story above is almost commonplace in some parts of the UK.
The NHS has some wonderful people in it, a minority also not so good, but what really lets it down is maladministration. Money is a large part of the problem, but is not the whole story by any means.
There is also the point that the UK population has increased from about 55 million half a century ago to maybe as many as 70 million today, mainly (in fact almost entirely) because of mass immigration, and also births to immigrant mothers. Yes, quite a few non-Brits work in the NHS, but that hardly outweighs the pressure from FIFTEEN MILLION more potential patients (who should not even be in this country).
Pressure from immigration etc would not have been a factor in the above story (which comes from Northern Ireland), but it is a factor in much of the UK.
I recall camping only about 20-30 feet from Arthur’s Stone sometime in the early 1980s. My then girlfriend and I just happened upon it one dark late evening; in fact we had never heard of it. A convenient place to stop the car and pitch a small tent. Very quiet. Zero traffic (except us).
Sounds as if it is a bit of a tourist destination now, but then I think not. I do not think we heard a single car pass in the night until, at about 0200 hrs, a torch was shone into my face. A policeman. He asked whether we had heard a car pass in the past hour; we said no, we were sleeping. He said OK and left. I expect that he made that story up as an excuse for disturbing us.
Arthur’s Stone is about 15 miles west of Hereford, and is on a very narrow and little-used (even now, I expect) lane. I have trekked, at various times, across much of the countryside between Hereford and Hay-on-Wye and around (but many many years ago, in much younger and far fitter days).
Looking at Google Earth, I see that it now has a low wooden fence, about 2 ft high, around it. Don’t recall that, but (as we know) memory, even my memory, can be faulty.
So the virtue-signalling Guardian’s editor has a salary of £510,000 a year! No wonder the Guardian‘s one-time “socialism” is rather muted these days…
Incidentally, I believe that Ms. Viner’s personal “partner” makes even more than she does.
“GMG also paid its former chief executive Annette Thomas £795,000 after she left following a clash with Ms Viner over the direction of the business. Ms Thomas received a “one-off” payment on top of her £630,000 base salary, meaning she made £1.5m in 15 months on the job.“
[Daily Mail]
“Annual revenues at GMG climbed 13pc to £255.8m and profits rose nearly four-fold to £11.7m.
The Guardian does not have a paywall but instead relies on donations made by readers.
Over one million people made monthly contributions of at least £1 a month, while another 500,000 readers made one-off payments.“
[Daily Telegraph]
Incredible, really: a million mugs give £1+ each monthly to the Guardian, meaning £12 million a year, while another half-million mugs make one-off payments each year, meaning £500,000+, probably £1M or more.
So… the profits of nearly £12M are because those million or so mugs are donating about the same amount, and maybe several million pounds more. Those donations make the difference between insolvency and significant profitability.
Meanwhile, the editor gets paid half a million pounds —and more— annually.
Those invaders will be, in the best scenario, effectively useless, and a millstone round the collective neck of the British people. At worst, criminals and/or terrorists.
The problem, of course, is that whichever way the masses vote (I myself never vote), they vote (in reality) for globalism and open borders, because all System “democratic” parties are signed up to that agenda.

The perennial NHS crisis. Pretty much every year for 20-30 years. As said, something gamechanging has to be done both about the NHS and about the mass immigration that puts intolerable strain upon it. A national health service such as the NHS should not be run like a massive version of M*A*S*H [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAS*H_(TV_series)].
There is a serious sickness in American life, two symptoms of which include pro-abortion fanaticism and the callousness towards animals seen in, for example, the incredibly evil “declawing” of cats (banned in the UK). Not all Americans, maybe a minority, are involved, but the tendency is there, prominently. Manifestations of practical materialism.

Thanks. I have been Charing Cross Police Station this morning. Enquiried if they could go to boots and ask for security footage. They did nothing. The police didn't even bother to look at the CCTV footage I was trying to show them.
Tweeters already covered what would be my main suggestion, i.e. to check cctv at the two or three nearest Boots branches.
You do have to be very careful in London now. When I lived in London, and later in Almaty (Kazakhstan), in the mid/late 1990s, I always wore one of my Rolex Seadweller watches (in today’s value, over £10,000).
I doubt that I would do that today, if I had such a watch (in fact, I sold my watches long long ago from necessity…needs must), especially if I used the London Underground (as I often did when in London).
When I lived in Almaty, where (at the time, i.e. 1996-97), credit cards were almost useless, I always carried USD $5,000-$10,000 in a special moneybelt made to look exactly like an ordinary belt. I never had any serious trouble, though there was once a scuffle with a “wild” (unofficial) taxi driver (no real harm done— my sunglasses broken, a good shirt torn, but his face improved after connection with my elbow…).
As a visitor or tourist in a foreign city, you do have to be careful. I was once, 40 years ago, doing some petty nonsense at the now-closed Paddington Green police station [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paddington_Green_Police_Station]. In the reception area. Two Egyptian girls, tourists, came in, wailing. The police desk person could scarcely have been less helpful to them, almost contemptuous, when he heard that one of the girls had had her handbag snatched, along with £800 in it (a great deal higher value then than now, of course; you could probably call it as much as £10,000 in today’s money).
Sadly, the police now are usually useless unless the crime is something they have been told is top-priority, such as cases of murder, “terrorism”, saying rude things online about Jews etc.
I hope that the lady in that Twitter thread gets her stuff back, but it is a long-shot, of course. Her best bet is probably to set up a gofundme appeal, but that will of course not help with the identity documents she lost.
At least the lady’s case has now been taken up by police CID (see below):
People are often careless with bags etc. I found a woman’s strapless bag, a bit like a large wallet, in a shopping trolley in one of the trolley bays in the car park of the Waitrose in the local small town, about a year ago. Opened it out of curiosity before I gave it in to the Waitrose reception desk. Full of cards, dozens of them; quite a bit of cash as well.
A few years ago, not long after sunup, I happened to see a purse on the ground, in a clifftop car park. Inside, nearly £50 in notes, a debit card, and a student rail pass in the name of some girl. I brought it home thinking that it must be fairly local (the rail pass having been issued about 5 miles away), and that the unusual surname might be in the telephone book. No luck, so I gave it to the police at the local police station.
I hope that the girl student got back her cards and money. As to what she might have been doing late at night (presumably) in that clifftop car park, well, that is none of my business…
Incidentally, lest readers of the blog think that I am unnaturally virtuous, I have to admit that, were it a million pounds in a suitcase, my actions might be quite different.
I think that most police forces do not even bother now with mere lost property. After all, their valuable time is taken up by policing the Internet etc…

Ha. A not-uncommon experience. Many people in this world seem to find it possible to live without books. I recall going into what was said to be the best (perhaps the only) large bookshop in Salisbury, Rhodesia (now Harare, Zimbabwe), in 1977, only to find that most of the books seemed to be How to Look After your Dog [Cat, Goldfish etc], or the works of Wilbur Smith [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilbur_Smith].
Perhaps I was too hard on the locals, who were at the time subject to international sanctions, which meant that few items could be imported; in any case, Rhodesia was short of foreign currency, and what they had could not be used for books, but rather for weapons, ammunition, and fuel.
Having said that, I have found in other parts of the world that some people just do not need books in their life, or maybe just a few paperbacks by Dick Francis or other popular writers.
The same people, in my view, are often those who do not need or love trees.
I am different: I need trees, and I need books, though it will be a long time, if ever, before I replace the 2,000-book library I had to abandon on leaving France in 2009.
We all know how this will end, I mean the whole situation, not that specific instance. Somewhere down the line. We cannot even write or speak about it, because the System police have been told to prioritize “community cohesion” (the multikulti society) before all else, which is why people get 2-3 years in prison for putting up stickers, while serious real crimes are either not investigated at all, or result in very lenient penalties.

Talking about the Jew-Zionist lobby, I imagine that they will be sorry, not so much that Suella Braverman failed to become Conservative Party leader (she never had a chance, even among that bunch of nitwits), but rather that she is unlikely to retain her position as Attorney-General. Married to (it seems) a Jew, and completely in the Jewish/Israeli pocket, her trumpeted support for free speech never included support for free speech where the Jewish lobby objected to said speech.
Actually, Suella Braverman has done better (for herself), career-wise, than anyone could have predicted. By the irony of Fate, she not only became an MP, but also Attorney-General, albeit to the most stupid and dishonest Cabinet ever. She also was able to request appointment as QC by reason of the above. Not bad for a pretty humdrum barrister of Indian origins.

Even Diane Abbott can be right once in a while. As a matter of fact, Russia has every right to seize Eastern Ukraine, Kiev, and the Black Sea littoral. The two countries were joined together for over a thousand years, and the fact that the Ukraine has been notionally independent for 30 years now makes no substantial difference. The present Kiev government is a Jew-Zionist sham, somewhere between a scam and a bad joke. It has to go.
In any case, 15-20% of the population of Ukraine is Russian, and that proportion is far higher in the eastern and southern areas (eg, in Odessa, where a third of the inhabitants are actually Russian). In the east, and especially south-east, a majority of the population is Russian.

The above parody is not that far from what actually happened in 2020. The sheer hysteria of not only the police but also a large part of the msm and indeed the general public had to be seen to be believed.
“Democracy” becomes meaningless once the public (or much of it) is half-crazed, or unable to think for itself, once the mainstream media are all trumpeting one false message, once an incompetent or malicious government passes spurious “laws” and lays down legally ineffective —but practically enforced— “rules”, “guidance” and so on (conflated with and confused with actual law); and once the police start to enforce not law but the said government “rules”, “guidance” etc as if they were law(s).
Indeed, in 2020 the police themselves started to make up the law as they went along (something we also see them doing relating to so-called “hate crimes” and “non-hate crime incidents” etc). This is all connected to the influence of Common Purpose etc.
Police chiefs infected, not with “Covid-19” but with Common Purpose and political correctness, started to send drones out to blast elderly couples walking peacefully on the moors with “go home” messages, police in Derbyshire also poisoned a lake so that it would not attract visitors, and police in other provincial areas started to inspect people’s shopping to see whether the purchases were (in their Plod opinion) “reasonable” or “necessary”!
A few voices of weight spoke up against these abuses: Lord Sumption, the former Law Lord, for one. The reaction? Most msm outlets cold-shouldered Sumption, and some started to imply that he was really just a bit of a crank; while on social media, the hysterical Twitter obsessives (often Jewish) were in full flow, calling him mad etc (as they usually do when they find a target for their ingrained hate. I myself have suffered from the Jew-Zionist hate.
All very true, yet on Twitter, during the EU Referendum campaign, the Twitter-twits (always unrepresentative) were whining about how, for example, their daughters would be unable to take up that unpaid internship “job” at a Milan fashion house, or how their sons would now never be able to work in cutting-edge IT in Berlin or Amsterdam (and about how Emily and Olivia, and Sebastian and Barnaby were so terribly upset…boo-hoo— cue Windsor Davies in It Ain’t Half Hot, Mum“).
…and that is without even considering the flood of Roma-gypsy thieves and parasites that have swamped the UK for the past few decades, mostly from Eastern and Central Europe.
How? The likes of Poland, Romania, Lithuania etc have lost generations of hard working productive young people to larger economies such as UK and Germany. Reducing barriers to trade grows economies, free movement of people only works one way, only the biggest economies benefit.
Those “#FBPE” types on Twitter are almost always complete idiots. I would be prepared to bet that 99% are facemask zealots as well.

What interests me is the absence of any msm interest now in the obvious Israeli Intelligence connection, though a few newspapers in both UK and USA at least hinted at it some time before the start of the trial.
As a matter of fact, I myself once saw a UFO, though I do not make any claim as to what it was beyond that. It was on New Year’s Eve, if I recall aright. I was staying for a few days in Welling, Kent, part of the South East London sprawl. 1978 or 1979.
I was walking, not long before nightfall, with a young lady, in what was basically suburbia. Out of the corner of my eye I caught sight of something and, looking, saw a bright silver sphere travelling very fast across the cloudless sky, seemingly high up. By the time I had said “look at that!“, it had vanished below the horizon. My companion did not see it.
The next morning, local radio (I think it was called Radio Medway…not sure now) was reporting that hundreds of people had called in with news of having seen the object. [note: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_Radio_Kent].
That’s it. No national msm interest, and I still have no idea what I saw, but it was certainly not a plane, weather balloon, or atmospheric condition (to list a few of the usual suggestions). A satellite? I have no idea .
The only other UFO connection I have had was secondhand, told to me by someone who had a far more striking experience.
The lady in question was working (as usual) at night in a security control room at Heathrow Airport. There were windows along one wall. She was alone, and it was the middle of the night. She saw a craft described as not unalike the one shown in the Daily Mail impression above.
It hovered outside her building for several minutes (by her recollection), lights glowing and flashing. It then took off from its hovering state, and disappeared. The witness said that she had been terrified. She said that the UFO was “massive“. No pictures (this was in 1993) because few people then carried telephones with cameras. I had a mobile then, a very heavy Motorola flip phone, but it had no camera (in fact most people did not even have mobile telephones in 1993).
Obviously, a normal aircraft would have been seen by others (of course the UFO may have been seen, but there had been no msm reports), and also would have been detected by the Heathrow air traffic control and/or security or police.
What then was it? I have no idea but alien life is implied, assuming that the account was credible (the lady was truthful, and security-vetted as well, for what that might be worth).

Once again, a vicious attacker, who had no reason to attack the victim, who was not even known to her, and with whom she had had not even casual conversation or interaction, is let off with a suspended sentence.
Read the report. The victim? 10 external stitches above the eye, 4 internal stitches. Blood everywhere. Pain and suffering. A permanent facial scar. Social anxiety flowing from the attack.
This is part of a pattern in the UK now. Vicious attacks, not infrequently (as here) carried out by a woman, often fuelled by booze or drugs (in this case, both), and/or with a defendant (often, and as in this case) basically crying in court and blaming “mental issues” and/or drink/drug problems for her disgusting crime.
The other part of said pattern is the undue leniency shown by judges, especially the part-time ones (such as the Recorder in this case).
GBH “with intent”, aka “s.18 GBH”, carries a maximum life sentence, and it trivializes the charge to sentence the woman here (who both pleaded guilty and accepted that her victim was, in the words of the Recorder, “entirely innocent” of any wrongdoing) to a suspended sentence.
I am not a “hang and flog” type of person, but I would have sentenced the defendant to at least a year in prison. Jez Turner of the London Forum got a year merely for urging, in a speech, that Jews be removed from the UK, while persecuted satirist and singer, Alison Chabloz, got months in prison for offending the delicate sensibilities of Zionist Jews and/or “holocaust” fraudsters via podcast discussions, cartoons and songs.
My own last real criminal case at the Bar (I mean real crime, not South West Water or Balfour Beatty failing to comply with regulation), was in a Crown Court in London in 1994, and that was also a “s.18” GBH with intent trial. My defendant had been involved in a fight with an aggressive attacker. He had thrown boiling oil over him, then stabbed him twice.
As to what sentence my lay client got (for what was almost a murder, the knife having come very close to penetrating the heart of the victim), there never was one; I managed to secure an acquittal on the ground of self-defence. He probably would have received about 5 years imprisonment from what was a very fierce old judge.
If judges (as sometimes seems now to be the case) keep letting violent criminals off lightly, especially when the defendant is a woman, society slides further down the slope to lawless anarchy.
More facemask nonsense (for the serving staff…). A puppet show.

Well, no-one has ever accused his family or dynastic line of either intellectuality or originality…
Now here is Charles again, flying around by helicopter, and preaching to those below that they must give up almost everything that makes life worth living.
High Court Approves Legal Challenge to Government re Holocaust memorial in Victoria Tower Gardens
Late on Friday afternoon the English High Court granted permission to appeal the Government decision to build the Holocaust Memorial in Victoria grdns (1)
The “benefits” point is all but irrelevant; I do not want vast foreign-origined populations in the UK, whether they work or not. The proper point arising from the above pictures is that they show to what extent London, and much of the rest of England (Britain, but mainly England) has been totally swamped.
As I predicted long ago. Now that Twitter has expelled most of the really interesting tweeters (among them, if I may be so immodest, me), and now that anyone not pro-System and pro-Israel is expelled if discovered, it has become very much an “echo chamber” for those of System-conformist views. Rather boring, and very predictable.
The liberal elite & their MSM collaborators are storing up a huge amount of trouble for themselves by giving people the impression that there's only one thing they understand. https://t.co/xwfpIZ1RlB
Were Moses alive today, he would be regarded as a dangerous “far right” extremist, as well as “intolerant” of the newly-normalized sexual and socio-economic liberties. The followers of the Golden Calf would have him arrested, convicted and punished for “hate speech” and incitement to violence (etc). Makes you think…
Have now established that Jonni Portes @jdportes was four years old in 1970 and has no clue what Britain was like pre-deindustrialisation. Teenage scribblers everywhere. https://t.co/uDM3TMbMvT
@jdportes jonni. If more than half of a forest is cut down, most of it was destroyed. This is not negated if someone later plants a lot of saplings where it used to stand. https://t.co/d25ChADO5a
How on earth did we go from 18 year olds storming the beaches of Normandy to grown men crying on the Internet about seeing unmasked people in three generations
It would be interesting to know what proportion of the Australian public actually believes the bs being pumped out by the new Australian “woke” police state and its compliant msm propagandists.
Well, this week I did not do so well. Only 4/10, one of my worst-ever scores. John Rentoul got 6/10. I did not know the answers to questions 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 10.
The police are now “too busy” (in their own minds, “too important”) to deal with the real crimes that matter to most people, just as most nurses are too busy or too important to deal with basic cleanliness of hospitals, (so cleaning has been outsourced to useless private companies).
The police, infested by Common Purpose etc, now seem more interested in censoring online or other opinion, and acting as a poundland KGB.
“Here is the Mattel company, with its new range of trouser-wearing, white-coated, stethoscoped ‘role model’ Barbies, frantically sucking up to the Spirit of the Age.
Not all of them are vaccine inventors like Dame Sarah. One is described as a ‘frontline worker’ who ‘joined forces with other Asian-American medics to fight racial bias in the pandemic’. Another is a psychiatrist who has ‘campaigned against systemic racism in the healthcare profession’.
And so once again we see a major corporation making its peace with the new regime. There is barely any company, institution, school, publication or church which has not done the same, or is not about to do it.
People who would have laughed at ‘loony Left’ councils 30 years ago now use language and follow rules which they once mocked when Ken Livingstone and his allies proposed them.
Those who claim to despise Jeremy Corbyn often follow the ideas he helped devise…
And it is not just that they join in. They are afraid to criticise. Huge areas of opinion are now closed off from discussion, for fear of cancellation, advertising boycotts, and generally being cast into the outer darkness.
With gathering speed and completeness, a total revolution in thought and morals is taking hold of Western societies, just at the moment when they should be girding themselves against pressure to become more like China.
The zero-Covid fanatics, ready to throttle our society in pursuit of an illusion of perfect safety, have greatly benefited from this. And in the weeks to come the zealots of man-made global warming will press their dogmatic agenda and their demands that we impoverish ourselves to save the planet (demands China refuses to follow).
If all this had happened in a few weeks, while Red Guards slouched on street corners and the leaders of the old regime were dragged off to the firing squad, we’d see it for what it is. But, as long as there are enough loo-rolls in the supermarket, and the electricity keeps flowing, most people will never notice the revolution raging all around them.” [Peter Hitchens, in the Mail on Sunday].
Hitchens’ column this week is also worth reading for comment about both the ever-shrinking British naval reach, and the facemask nonsense.
GB News
I have still not watched the doomed GB News “controlled opposition” TV station. I have watched a few clips on Twitter. Today I saw another grovelling interview of a character from the malicious Jew-Zionist pressure group and fake “charity” calling itself “Campaign Against Antisemitism”. This time it was CAA “Chief Executive” Gideon Falter.
The interviewer was one Michelle Dewberry [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelle_Dewberry], described (I think rather kindly) by Wikipedia as “businesswoman, politician, presenter, and media personality.“
The “businesswoman” bit seems to be based on two small businesses started 15-20 years ago, both of which seem to have bombed, though information seems limited.
As for “politician”, that seems to be founded on her two unsuccessful attempts to be elected as MP (once as Independent, once for Brexit Party).
As interviewer, I thought her grovellingly unwilling to challenge Falter. Other impressions? Semi-coherent, biased in presentation, and actually rather dull.
I do not suppose that Michelle Dewberry will find life tough once this TV station (pretending to be a media outlet for dissidence) collapses: she has a rather wealthy boyfriend [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_Jordan#Personal_life].
How long before GB News does collapse? At a guess, 6-12 months.
[Update, 7 August 2022: seems that I was premature in predicting that GB News would disappear within 12 months. It is still around, though I myself have still not seen it even once.
GB News’ most recent filed profit/loss, only up to May 2021, shows a loss of £2.7M.
Goodness me! Can this be right? Cloth face masks are 'comfort blankets' that do little to curb Covid spread, Sage adviser warns https://t.co/7j16kpIGqP
This whole nonsense of over-reaction to the virus must be ended! People who are completely or effectively OK are now being told to isolate, not to go out, not to go to work. Important functions such as control rooms for power generation and transport are ceasing to operate, all because of this pathetic testing and tracing regime.
At some point, the country must wake up from this whole delusion.
“Well, I now have to praise the BBC’s Nick Robinson for saying this on the Today programme on Wednesday: ‘The evidence is that the masks that most of us wear, the one I have got here in my pocket, a sort of cotton mask that you either make yourself or that you buy, gives you no protection at all, absolutely none.’ After ages of assuming that loose cloth masks are effective, this must be the first time a major BBC presenter has stated the experimental truth. Yet nobody seems to have noticed.” [Peter Hitchens, in the Mail on Sunday].
“Ultra-feminists despised the decent, honourable tasks of motherhood, claiming that the only road to fulfilment lay in wage-slavery outside the home. Any fool could have told them that paid employment is not the road to freedom, but they did not want to hear this. And nobody has yet devised a way of getting men to embrace the tasks wage-slave women no longer have time to do. So they don’t get done.” [Peter Hitchens, Mail on Sunday].

“Lots of idiots still admire Cuba, believing the propaganda of its nasty, despotic junta. I think this is because so many of the former student revolutionaries of the 1960s imagine themselves in beards and fatigues riding at the head of a triumphant revolutionary parade into the fallen citadels of conservative, Christian civilisation.
The truth about Cuba – that it is a miserable, rationed secret-police state that even has first-class money for the elite and second-class money for its ordinary people – has always been unwelcome.
So has the fact that this potentially wealthy country is run by drearymiddle-aged bureaucrats, fearful of their subjects, with brains of solid Marxist concrete, about as rebellious and romantic as a public lavatory. Yet the youthful, barricade-storming image must still be maintained. Its official radio station, a conduit of weary, censored propaganda, is called Rebel Radio.
But now a real rebellion against these self-styled rebels has broken out on the streets of Havana. It looks to me like a proper uprising from below, not orchestrated by anybody.
And the admirers of Castro’s squalid state – who still litter the BBC, the universities, the schools, the media and the Civil Service – don’t know what to do or say. For they do not want to admit that, like the man they long admired, they have themselves become an intolerant, inflexible ruling class.“[Peter Hitchens, Mail on Sunday]
Very true. I have argued all my life against idiots who thought that Marxist-Leninist or derivative regimes in the Soviet Union, Cuba, North Vietnam, Nicaragua, and now Venezuela were decent and worth supporting.
As far as Cuba is concerned, the sort of people who even now support it are (generalizing wildly) like the NHS doctor whose cottage near Totnes I was once (2001) thinking of renting. She could not show me the place because, I was told, she is “cycling in Cuba”. Cuba is revered by some because it trains vast numbers of health professionals, who are then ordered to work in other countries so that Cuba can get foreign exchange, or barter goods.
As for the British and other mugs who supported the Cuban-inspired Sandinistas in the 1980s, they are still around, those that never woke up (to reality, not “wokeness”), and now support Venezuela, “Black Lives Matter” etc. Nicaragua itself is now suffering under the ex-Sandinista rebel, Ortega, and is a complete mess, but the “woke” idiots have other idols these days.
“Che” would not necessarily now be on their side, had he escaped being given a couple of rounds in the head in Bolivia over 50 years ago:
Socialism of the old type has frozen Cuba in time, to an extent that even the Soviet Union was not. Occasionally one sees TV people doing travel shows about Cuba. I think that Michael Portillo did one mainly about Cuba’s shambolic trains; Chris Tarrant certainly did.
Cuba’s trains are apparently kept going by all sorts of weird and wonderful methods, rather like those “iconic” 1950s American cars that ferry tourists around Havana.
Havana itself is falling to pieces. Occasionally, buildings just collapse after decades of little or no maintenance.
To some extent, I can see why some British, other European, American, people “support” Cuba: it has stood its ground against its superpower neighbour, it has its own identity etc. Other people have felt that way about other small and embattled states: Rhodesia, Israel, Taiwan, even North Korea. However, that is a sentimental attachment (if any) better indulged from a distance.
Cuba is basically a shambles. Admittedly, I myself have only seen it directly from the air (overflying from Tampa, Florida, to Grand Cayman), and from the sea (between Cuba and Jamaica).
My only contact with Cuban bureaucracy was when some British and expat Iranian scientists asked me to help find a sponsor for their biofuel project (I called it, to myself, “making gold out of straw”). A couple of countries were interested. This was in or about 1995.
The Ukrainian Ambassador in London even accompanied me (in his rather nice chauffeur-driven Lexus limousine) to Porton Down research centre (Wiltshire) one day, to meet with the team at their labs. That led to nothing, but at least the Ukrainians were interested. The Cuban Ambassador did not even reply to my letter! That despite the fact that Cuba would have been ideal— a country in need of fuel, with a huge quantity of otherwise unusable biomass (sugar cane detritus), and with a large cadre of scientifically-trained labour. Useless. Well, there it is…
🇨🇺 All of Cuba was left without electricity, ten million people in the dark

evicted from West Jerusalem. Under Israeli law they have no equivalent right to evict those who now occupy their ancestral homes in West Jerusalem. The property rights are asymmetric. And here you can see the police compelling a Palestinian to bring down a Palestinian flag…

know, I am not anti Israel. Quite the oppose. But this is an injustice that would be important to highlight wherever it was. And here, in case you missed it, is @chedwardes moving interview in @thetimeshttps://t.co/SXf5ZHsL2C
Robert Peston is Jewish (or possibly part-Jewish…I am uncertain), but not particularly, if at all, sectarian. He was not brought up to be sectarian, I believe I read somewhere. That kind of distinction was recognized, up to a point, in National Socialist Germany, under the “Nuremberg Laws”, where those who were Mischlingen, or part-Jew, were treated in law differently depending on whether they adhered to Jewish religious communities etc, or not: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuremberg_Laws#Classifications_under_the_laws.
As can be seen in those tweets and reports, the Jews in Israel use “lawfare” (“legal” warfare) to get what they want. When that fails on its own, they use illegal methods, pressure, corruption, and ultimately violence. In the end, it is little different in the UK, France, and other places where Jews exist in large numbers.

3) Peter Hitchens: Britain turns out to be the great nation of the gormless.
Thanks @darrenjsaudners, but you'll be lucky if you get free minds for all. Voluntary masking( and much of it *is* voluntary) is a gesture of submission to the allegedly benevolent loving state. https://t.co/7Ea4IDpnTT
Yes. Much of the scare regime of the past 19+ months has been superficially “voluntary” (the idiots wearing facemasks while cycling in the country etc). There was some Jew, a few years ago, who ran a thing at Downing Street called the “Nudge Unit”, trying to pressure the public to do this or that without using law. Is that unit still around in some form?

…and the usual idiots and Greta Nut supporters are already saying that Germany is flooded because of “climate change”, despite the fact that it has happened many many times before.
'Hannah Cloke, professor of hydrology at Reading University, said that a “monumental failure of the system” had led to one of postwar Germany’s deadliest natural disasters, which had by last night claimed at least 133 lives since Wednesday' https://t.co/KVEZrTR7jc
Actually, @golbadock_dan it is a freedom, not a right. But it is one of the very few actual powers the people possess. Imagine if they held an election, and nobody came. A close-to-zero vote would deprive the current political class of legitimacy, and force major reform. https://t.co/oyPsMrP61Q
Peter Hitchens is sadly deluded here, though perhaps if only a tiny handful were to vote, it might present a moral challenge. That never happens. Not in major elections. Voting is usually pointless; abstention is always pointless. Something else might get rid of the present nuisances, but I think that, in the present climate, I prefer not to suggest it…
“Boris”
Surely it cannot be denied that his presentation and manner are closer to those of Jew comics than of English statesmen?
Eton and Oxford may put a gloss on someone such as “Boris”, but that gloss is a very thin veneer.

Exactly the sort of thing that the police should be doing, as against letting themselves be manipulated and used by tribal special interest lobbies…
The “panicdemic” has been, and continues to be, an incredible moment in the history, especially, of the Western world. The moment in time when the masses were put to the test as regards their wish to be free people, and chose serfdom, all because they were subjected to a (so far) almost 18-month propaganda fear campaign, backed up by a (so far) toytown police state.
Peter Hitchens has been warning of this horrible consequence from the start of this lockdown fiasco. https://t.co/nQZCPK06Ev
You hardly have to be Dr. Schacht to understand that expansion of the money supply leads directly to inflation, and may lead to hyper-inflation.
As to the rich rushing to park their money in fixed assets, look at, for example, the frantic rush to buy country estates over the past few years and especially recently. In fact, there are few estates in England or Scotland on the market, and those that do come onto the market are often sold within weeks or even days.
Apart from land and housing, the price of gold has continued to rise quite fast.
It is not a question of whether your records contain anything potentially embarrassing (mine certainly do not), but one of principle, just as it is a matter of principle that one should be free to walk, travel, shop etc without wearing a (pointless in any case) muzzle, as with the facemask nonsense; or just as one should be able to drive from A to B without some plod demanding to know whether you have reasonable cause to be on the roads.

#TakeOffYourMask I will take it off when I wish to, not when some clowns on social media tell me to. Quite frankly wearing it for 5-10 mins when i'm in a shop is no issue whatsoever and I have asthma.
An idiot who thinks it oppressive to be encouraged by tweets to take off his facemask muzzle, but is only wearing one in the first place because he was told to, on pain of prosecution, because idiots in government (eg “Boris”) have ordered him to wear one…
Another idiot. Even leaving aside the fact that the facemask nonsense keeps no-one “safe”, she says that “it’s none of your business what I wear“, yet no doubt (like all the facemask zealots) thinks that people should be forced, by both oppressive law and social pressure, to wear a facemask.
I just saw another similar tweet, from a similar tweeter, who wants everyone to wear facemasks until allowed not to, yet whose Twitter profile says “no prisons, no borders“! Twitter has slowly become the realm of the mentally-ill and/or “antifa” idiots, and/or Jews, and/or pseudo-socialists, and/or those who think that freedom means freedom to comply with government impositions.
The vast majority of people, despite having been brainwashed for a year and a half, in their hearts know that the endless nonsense (facemasks, hand gel everywhere, ridiculous one-way systems inside shops etc) is just that— nonsense. They all, or most of them, pretend to comply because of the combination of enforcement and social pressure (“laws”, “rules”, “advice”, posters, police, fines, security guards, self-important shop people).
Having said that, the past year and a half has had a huge effect. It has pretty much destroyed the illusion that the British people have “freedom” (or even want it). Spineless.
Masks will continue to perform a useful function in society. It will help identify the weak, the anxious & the stupidly suggestible. Always good to know #TakeOffYourMask
