One of the more ludicrous items of news yesterday was to the effect that Ukraine would probably be fast-tracked for EU membership and in the interim, be given some kind of candidate-member status.
Jesus H. Christ! It was not very long ago that people were lamenting the fact that Greece had been allowed to join the EC, forerunner of the EU, in 1981. Many had said at the time that Greece was too backward, and insufficiently stable economically. Those doubts resurfaced in 2001 when Greece joined the Eurozone.
Similar doubts were raised when most of the Eastern European states joined the EU less than twenty years ago.
Indeed, those of my sort of age (65) can recall the wranglings over whether the UK itself could or should join the EEC, as it then was, in 1973.
Now we see that Ukraine, a “failed state” (and failed economy) by most if not all standards, is going to be fast-tracked into the EU despite the fact that
Ukraine is actually, if not “legally”, at war with a neighbouring state, Russia, and may soon be in conflict also with Belarus;
Ukraine has lost about a fifth of its territory to that neighbouring state and/or separatist rebels;
Ukraine is almost a dictatorship, with most opposition parties banned, and leaders of some parties under arrest;
Ukraine has just lost the bulk of its heavy industry (which is or was located in the Donbass region or the Sea of Azov littoral);
Ukraine cannot export 90% of its agricultural produce;
Ukraine is only kept in the “war” because NATO states, and other states, are supplying it with arms, ammunition etc for free;
A substantial part of the population has fled beyond Ukrainian borders.
I suppose that what this once again proves is that the EU is primarily not an economic organization but a political project, part of the NWO/ZOG matrix.

Corrupt Jew tyrant meets part-Jew would-be tyrant.
Anyone who thinks that “Boris”-idiot gives a monkey’s flying **** for Ukraine or its people is sadly mistaken. This is all about “Boris” once more trying to play the poundland Churchill (“...second time as farce“) in response to his sharply-waning popularity in the UK.
Of course, it all meshes with the NWO strategy of weakening and eventually capturing Russia. The NWO nearly succeeded in doing that in the 1990s, when Russia was all but taken over by a pack of “oligarch” Jews, with drunken idiot Yeltsin as figurehead. Putin was the imperfect but necessary antidote to that slide into the gutter.
If a general NATO-Russia war happens, sooner or later Britain will be the first to be hit by nuclear missiles. Forget about whether Russia will also be hit, or the USA.
The fact is that a geographically small space like the UK has no chance in such a scenario. Pretty much the whole country will be either destroyed or badly damaged, and mostly irradiated.
What will all the pseudo-macho posturers on Twitter, and the thick-as-two-short planks MPs (such as Johnny Mercer) do then? Cry into their beer (if any beer still exists) as their homes, families, and cities are wiped out? As their whole way of life disappears in minutes…
This is at least as mad as the rush to war in 1914 or 1939.
“They” (((they))) (you-know-who’s) are among the most fervent of the warmongers. Again.
Is Putin winning the economic war over Ukraine?https://t.co/khmtuAo8QM In the first four months of 2022, Russia had a current-account surplus of €90 billion, treble the figure for 2021, because of surging oil & gas prices & a decline in imports. The highest surplus since 1994.
The media/intelligence complex carried out yet another operation, this time in Italy. It prepared a list of people, accused us of being "Putin's agents" and published our names, pictures and personal details, Myrotvorets-style. The Ukrainization of🇮🇹 has reached another milestone
“Economic growth” will come to a dead stop once Russian missiles hit this country… Almost everything else will do the same.

I’ll be voting for Boris this evening. The PM got the big decisions right on Brexit and Covid. We need to focus now on defending Ukraine, driving levelling-up and generating growth. We need to move past this moment and unite behind Boris to meet these challenges
Since when did “defending Ukraine“, a state which has only existed as such for 30 years, a state with which Britain has no treaties of importance, a country with which Britain has had almost no connection historically, count as a core British interest?
Gove, that snivelling little cocaine-sniffer, drunk, fraudster, and expenses freeloader, is just another Westminster puppet of the NWO and ZOG.
When I returned to the UK after a youthful extended visit to Rhodesia in 1977, I found myself at a loose end. I did odd bits and pieces of work here and there. One such, I think in 1978, involved working (usually humping around heavy equipment) for a few days here, a few days there, arranged by a casual-labour company. A few days were spent carrying around recording equipment in metal cases for the EMI record company, based in Abbey Road Studios, St. John’s Wood, only about 15 mins walk from my then home. I too have often crossed that zebra crossing made famous by the Beatles…
Kingsway Hall was prized for its superb acoustics. EMI often used it. In fact, I myself owned at least one record (vinyl) recorded there (in 1975), arguably the best interpretation of Prokofiev’s 7th Symphony (London Symphony Orchestra, cond. Walter Weller).
Many famous people had been at Kingsway Hall since its construction in the late 19thC: world-famous composers, conductors, and soloists, even Winston Churchill.
In 1978, the building must have been already in a very poor state of repair: various parts of the auditorium (and all of the upper seating areas) had notices warning people not to step there. It was not open to the public, for health and safety reasons.
The building was demolished in 1998; an expensive hotel now stands on the site.
This is gibberish. The British system is not presidential. The clue was in the jubilee celebrations for the head of state that just took place all weekend. https://t.co/qPL5AInutN
I have not commented on the recent public celebrations, which after all were both a show for the masses and an example of “Hamlet without the Prince of Denmark”, the Monarch herself having been largely absent.
You still have people, including scribblers for major newspapers, talking as if we are still in the age of Palmerston, or even Walpole. In strict constitutional theory, true— Britain is not “presidential” in its constitutional structure but, in reality, “the medium is the message” [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_medium_is_the_message] because the TV is really all that matters politically to 90% of the voting public.
“Boris” is, of course, idiotic, but there he is, bobbing around, a massive inflated dummy, like those huge caricature balloon heads or effigies you see in foreign religious or other parades.
The system Britain now has is at least quasi-presidential, in effect.

Lots of people still don’t seem to realise that lockdowns kill on a huge scale, and that those imposing them knew this to be the case at the outset. This means that many still don’t grasp the magnitude of what’s happened. That’s before you even get to the injections.

[Daily Mail map showing the state of play in the east/southeast of Ukraine as of 9 April 2022]
It seems that Russian forces have withdrawn not only from the Kiev area but from the area north of Kiev generally. Without taking Kiev, there is no real victory, no matter what else happens.
It seems now that the Russian strategic aims in the short term are to secure and hold the Donbass area, encircle and capture or destroy the Ukrainian forces there, then to push from the north (Kharkov area), the south, and the east, creating a line broadly Kharkov-Dnipro [former Dnepropetrovsk] and down to, or linking with, Russian forces already occupying the Sea of Azov littoral.
If the Russians can do all that, then (once Dnipro and Zaporozhye are taken or besieged) they will have about a fifth of Ukraine (half of Ukraine east of the Dnieper) under their control.
In other news, it seems that the UK is sending anti-ship missiles to Odessa. If Russian ships start to be sunk from Odessa, then it is not unlikely that the response will be swift and brutal. The city of Odessa may be completely destroyed by missiles and artillery if the Russian Black Sea Fleet comes under serious attack. Very sad from the historical and aesthetic point of view (and, of course, the humanitarian one).
It looks as though the Russians are degrading the Ukrainian fuel reserves and supply lines. Without fuel, the Kiev regime forces will become little more mobile than the armies of Napoleon and Wellington.
Ammunition continues to run out for the Ukrainian forces.
Despite msm reports etc, this still looks like a winnable military situation for Russia, in the short to medium term. I read today that (as predicted in this blog) Russia is now calling up recently-active reserves, i.e. former soldiers who are still reasonably “current”.
Politically, of course, and in terms of public relations, this Ukraine adventure has been disastrous for Russia, not because of the invasion as such, but because of how it was so badly planned and executed. Also, because of how unsuccessful it has been, overall. Pathetic, and terrible in all ways.
I have often thought how Russia needs a degree of isolation in order for the seed of that future age not to be poisoned by whatever now exists in the world, centred on “the West”, meaning on North America, Britain, and then western and central continental Europe.
Ironically, it now appears that it is the West itself which is sending Russia into that isolation, via economic and cultural sanctions.
Russia is one of the few countries in the world which can, if necessary, do without the rest of the world, in economic terms. 72 times the size of the UK, and 2-3 times the size of the USA (depending on whether Alaska is included), Russia has the land, the climatic zones, the varied natural and human resources, to make autarky work.
Russia could create an entirely different form of human society. It tried and failed already, with Marxism-Leninism, but that was building houses of straw. On another basis, such an attempt can succeed.

The report caught my eye partly because it is an area I used to know well. As a former resident of Little Venice, I was quite often in Edgware Road, and occasionally in Praed Street (Paddington) as well. I knew a couple of people who worked around there, and my dentist in the early 1990s was in the next main street (corner of Edgware Road and Sussex Gardens). In other words, I myself could have been one of the unfortunate victims, were I still living in that part of London.
The UK needs what Russians call a chistka (“clean-up” or purge), and nowhere is that more necessary than in London.
The “A6 Murder” was one of the most notorious crimes in an era of such. After Hanratty was executed, many of the famous joined in a noisy campaign to prove Hanratty innocent. Among those were the ludicrous John Lennon and Yoko Ono, and the well-meaning but often just silly Ludovic Kennedy [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludovic_Kennedy].
I have also seen some of the documentaries made about the crime, such as that in the interesting TV series (a favourite of mine), Great Crimes and Trials [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Crimes_and_Trials]. I never saw the series when it was on BBC TV (I had no television set in the 1993-1996 period) but later bought all the videos I could find.
Interestingly enough, one book I once read, maybe by Ludovic Kennedy (not sure now) had an incident whereby, before Hanratty had been named as wanted for questioning, a lady met Hanratty casually (I think in a shop in London) and had an immediate instinct that here was the A6 murderer. Absurd from a logical point of view, yet she was right. What are the odds?

[general state of play as of 6 April 2022]
Russia can defeat the forces of the Kiev regime, but it depends on how much death, damage and hurt Putin is willing to inflict.
Ukraine conflict: today’s thoughts
Ukraine is not a functioning state, really. It always (since “independence” in 1991) had elements of a “failed state”— corruption, shambolic maladministration, foreign/Jewish exploitation, but now the only element of a normal state that still exists is its armed force. Almost everything else is gone.
The Russian blockade means that Ukraine ports, even the unoccupied ones such as Odessa, are not working. The war and the situation in general means that industry is not functioning, that trade is almost at a standstill in much of the country. Airports are closed down and/or damaged.
So far, railways are still functioning, but for how long?
As to the war itself, I saw a report today to the effect that the Ukrainian forces are using each day about the same amount of ammunition (of all sorts, but particularly of the items supplied by NATO and others) that they are importing each week. A shortfall in the ratio 1:6. Unsustainable. It can only be a matter of time, and not much time, before the Ukrainian forces run out of everything except small arms/ammunition.
It can be seen that the Ukrainian (Kiev-regime) authorities are advising civilians in the south-east to evacuate before an expected renewed Russian onslaught. In all the besieged cities of the east, civilians are running out of food or have run out of food. It can only be a matter of time there too, before most of those cities are taken or flattened. Once that happens, the Russians will slowly occupy all of the Ukraine east of the Dnieper. That will eventually threaten Kiev again, this time from the southeast.
The Black Sea and Sea of Azov coasts are now almost entirely Russian-occupied as far west as Mykolaiv (former Nikolayev).
Russia may well move soon in some unexpected way to regain the tactical initiative. How, exactly, is hard to predict. Possibly by calling up Russia’s vast reserves, which number in the millions. True, they would all have to be fed and equipped and transported but, given that, they could be used to garrison areas taken, while the regular forces strike at areas east of the Dnieper still resisting, or not yet assaulted.
It seems that the mayor of Dnipro (former Dnepropetrovsk) has recommended that the elderly, women, and children should evacuate from the city, which at a million inhabitants (pre-invasion) is by far the largest population concentration on the Dnieper between the southern coastal areas and Kiev, 500 miles to the northwest. It has or had the 4th-largest population of the Ukrainian cities, slightly bigger than Donetsk.
Dnipro is on both banks of the Dnieper.
[Dnipro, formerly Dnepropetrovsk]
So far, the Russian forces have not yet secured Donetsk completely, let alone Zaporozhye and Dnipro. As noted, even if Dnipro can be taken or surrounded/sidelined, it is still 500 miles from there to Kiev. In my view, Russia has not won anything akin to a victory unless Kiev is taken.
The only way Russia can defeat the forces of the Kiev regime (without tactical nuclear weapons) is to call up its ground reserves, then push remorselessly forward, using hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of troops, until all Ukraine east of the Dnieper is occupied.
Meanwhile, we see msm reports of mutiny in the Russian forces. If true, reminiscent of 1917…

I usually try to steer clear of Scottish politics, but the madness of it at least equals anything seen south of Hadrian’s Wall.
The Scottish Labour Party is pretty much dead on its feet. Only 1 MP out of a possible 59 at Westminster, and 22 MSPs out of a possible 129 at Holyrood. Even in local government, Labour has bombed, now holding only 249 out of 1227 local council seats in Scotland. The contrast with Scottish Labour’s historical high points is stark.
Labour had 56 out of 72 Scottish MPs 1997-2005, and historically held at least 30 Scottish seats at Westminster. In fact, the present position is its worst ever— even in 1910, in its first General Election, it scored 2 MPs: see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scottish_Labour#House_of_Commons.
Actually, in terms of the popular vote, Scottish Labour’s best performance was in 1966 (49.8%), and its worst was in 2019, at 18.6%, less precipitous a fall than in terms of seats, but that’s First Past The Post voting for you.
In the Scottish Parliament, there has been a steady decline in Scottish Labour seats, from 56 out of 129 in 1999, to 22 out of 129 in 2021. Scottish Labour has not been even in coalition government in Scotland since 2007.
In the now-irrelevant European elections, Scottish Labour, which once had 7 out of 8 Scottish seats in the European Parliament, declined to flat zero (out of 6) by 2019 (9.3% of the popular vote).
Incidentally, Scottish Labour is now headed by a Glasgow-born Pakistani, who apparently has a £5M share in a family grocery business: see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anas_Sarwar.
Scottish Labour’s problem is at one with that of UK Labour generally— the disappearance of the industrial proletariat. In addition to that, Labour ground has been taken by the faux-nationalist and sort-of social-democratic SNP.
As for the young lady who wants to lead the youth wing of Scottish Labour, she sounds like a caricature from the days of Michael Foot, with her talk of “picket lines” etc. Ha ha! Asinine or what?!

My Anglo-Russian girlfriend in the 1980s, seven years older than me, once told me about the time when, as a young (about 19-y-o) student, she was sent from the UK (in or about 1969) to see her relatives in Leningrad (those who, unlike her mother and others, had not fled as children from the Bolshevik revolution, or coup d’etat, in late 1917), to improve her spoken Russian (her degree course was in Russian and French).
The assembled Russian aunts, uncles etc asked what she did in her leisure time at Cambridge University. She said that she had a part-time job in a pub, in order to socialize, and to make a little extra money at the same time.
So far so good, except that (her colloquial Russian still being rudimentary despite her background and university studies) she translated “pub” (ie “public house”) as “publichny dom“, which is literally “public house”, but in Russian is actually the colloquial term for a brothel, or bordello.
There ensued a shocked silence, then questions from her aunts and uncles, such as “does your mother know?!” (“Oh, yes, my parents both said that it would be good for me to do that work, and meet people from various walks of life”) and “do other girls at the University do it?” (“Oh, yes, many do…a way to make some money and enjoy some evenings, and not difficult once you get used to it” etc…).
Eventually, one of her uncles realized that the problem was linguistic, not her morals or the decadence of Western society…

I predicted something like this many years ago. There is really little difference between a late-term foetus and a young baby. Many people are born prematurely, are usually completely healthy, and some go on to to be of world-historic significance (historically, St. Paul, for one). A foetus is dependent upon its mother, but a baby (human) is also completely dependent, unable to live independently. In fact, it is an irrefutable fact that a human child is only gradually less dependent; it takes years.

I have met many American lawyers, had dealings with quite a few, and also seen some in action in both state courts (in New York) and Federal courts (in New York and New Jersey). A few are highly intelligent; most are not. As for advocacy, most are rock-bottom.
We're delighted to see this urban #rewilding project get off the ground! It's so important to connect people to wild nature – and connect rewilding in our towns and cities out into the countryside beyond. Great work everyone 👏🌳🦔 https://t.co/rwFxvKFRxN

What a peculiar little twerp that Ferguson fellow is. I wonder what his married “ho” sees in him. She’s not bad-looking, from what I recall from the newspaper stories (in 2020, when Ferguson and said girlfriend broke the repressive “lockdown” “rules” which he himself was key to putting in place).

For the BBC, it may be too late, institutionally. Certainly about 90% of BBC staff have to go. A full-scale cultural purge is necessary, not only at the BBC, but at Sky, ITV, all through TV, radio, newspapers, and publishing.
In other words, anyone posting anonymously on the Internet will be tracked down and harassed in various ways, if the poster is deemed “anti-Semitic”. @RewildingB new research shows that rewilding – large-scale nature recovery – can increase & diversify rural and coastal jobs while helping Britain meet its biodiversity and climate commitments. Take a look! #NatureBasedEconomy#Rewilding

If this is as reported it is so sickening that I simply cannot comprehend how Welby can remain as a priest, let alone Archbishop https://t.co/2DSSq6yVpd
Ha ha! Justin Welby, who has bent over backwards for the Jewish lobby for years, has now blotted his copybook by suggesting that the so-called “holocaust” is not the most significant event, or series of events, or possible events, in history…
The author of the cited piece says that many dissidents are forced to “keep quiet” in order to avoid being “cancelled”. He does not explore the possibility that some dissidents, “cancelled”, censored, unable to express views, or put forward ideas, might decide to strike back at their imprisoners, or tormentors, or at the self-appointed “leaders” and “influencers” of the very sick society that is developing fast in the UK, USA etc. Action directe?
On the wider point, the people generally, “the plebs” if you like, do not want “authoritarianism” as such; they want “authority”, in the sense of statesmen in charge of government, rather than clowns like “Boris” and his cronies. People who know what they want for the country, and know how to get things done. Look at the part-Jew/Levantine chancer! He can do nothing except to spin fantasy islands, fantasy bridges, fantasy airports etc. Incapable of being a Prime Minister. Totally unfit for his, or any, office. Not that Jewish-lobby puppet Starmer is any better. He is equally useless, simply less colourful.
The people also want TV news that reports facts, rather than the present BBC/Sky propaganda mouthpieces.
The people also want decent and working administration, both at central and local government level.
The people want a proper NHS, a National Health Service, not a “National Covid Service” run for the benefit of those who work in it.
The people also want to be a functioning nation-state, with a basically white European population, not a multikulti, dystopian chaotic mess, kept like that for the profit and benefit of “a certain tribe”.
The above is in fact only part of the entire problem.
A declaration of war on freedom of expression in the UK
Within a 6-mile radius of my present home, I can think of at least 2 petrol stations that have closed even in the past decade. That may seem a small number, but the number thus remaining is only 4, so a third of them have gone even since about 2011.

The Labour Party has now been retaken by the Jewish lobby and its puppets. Israel has probably spent millions on this. Not that I ever gave much credence to “Momentum” (a pressure group owned outright by a limited company owned by a couple of Jews), or indeed to Corbyn.
Below, Israeli Intelligence and Israeli Embassy official Shai Masot discusses a one-million-pound political slush fund with moneygrubbing expenses cheat and (now removed) Labour MP, Joan Ryan, a one-time head of Labour Friends of Israel:
and, below, Shai Masot again, this time talking to Maria Strizzolo, then a civil servant and one of Masot’s agents in the Conservative Party milieu:
Lisa Nandy marks her own card; openly supporting the former so-called “MP for Tel Aviv” (or one of them). In fact, Louise Ellman is no longer an MP, and is now 75 years of age: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louise_Ellman.
What I fear is that the Boris-idiot regime is just so incompetent and ridiculous that Labour, though a total fake, will be able to come back from near-extinction, bearing in mind that we live under a completely rigged and basically binary electoral system; and then impose a similar and possibly worse regime (though frankly, could it be worse? That is what many voters may think by ?2023 or 2024).
For me, one or both, or all three System parties have to be taken down. Labour is now the weaker of the main two.
I wonder, though, whether voters will flock back to Labour, with its open support for mass immigration, desire to further squash free speech, and with its 2010-style “austerity” programme akin to that of the pre-Boris “Conservatives” (and so on).

Nicolas Sarkozy
When I was (wrongfully) disbarred in late 2016, it was because I tweeted tweets (5 in number, in the end) considered to be too offensive. That despite the fact that all five tweets were entirely truthful, and commented on society and a few politicians. One was about Michael Gove; another was about Nicolas Sarkozy.
It will be recalled that Sarkozy was a leading promoter of the taking down of Gaddafi in Libya in 2012, and that Sarkozy collaborated on that with David Cameron-Levita (another part-Jew). Thus Europe is now flooded with African migrant-invaders, many of which come via Libya. It’s all connected…

Over the past decade, ideas I have had for a long time (rewilding, a “wildlife grid” etc) have become almost mainstream. I am glad to see it. Both charities and wealthy individuals are leading the way. People with fewer resources are also joining in, in various ways (by keeping part of their private gardens “wild”, by not using pesticides and herbicides etc), and their numbers count, bearing in mind that the UK has anything up to 10 million acres of private gardens.

As to BBC TV Question Time, I have not bothered to watch that rigged circus for years. Seems that last night featured the Jew fraudster and MP, Shapps; also, the System-approved black MP David Lammy, as well as Kate Andrews, the mouthpiece for System-“libertarian” views. She is American, Lammy Caribbean black, while Shapps is of course a Jew-Zionist.
In fact, that kind of terminally-tired 1940s or 1950s-style “Brains Trust” kind of show has little to offer now, especially when the “brains” have poor brains. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Brains_Trust.
The last politician or politician-manque on that show yesterday was one Munira Wilson. I admit that I had never heard of her. “Obscure” seems to best describe her. East African Asian, an ex-Muslim turned C of E Christian, and with a British husband: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munira_Wilson.
Seems that, as on previous occasions, the “outsider” (non-Westminster bubble) panellist was the most sensible. Walker was the only one, from the Question Time clips I have just seen, seemingly capable of “running a whelk stall”, though Iceland is rather bigger than that! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iceland_(supermarket).
Exactly. Now we see a similar phenomenon in the UK, as those who fight back, even with words, against Jewish-Zionist influence and control over our country, being called “far right” “extremists”, and in some cases prosecuted as “terrorists”, even without having done anything.
Near miss
While researching on Wikipedia today, I noticed that the now long-deceased aunt of a one-time girlfriend had once been one of the governors of the BBC. I knew that she had been a life peer, but not that she had been on the BBC Board of Governors. Saw a few other things about her that I did not previously know. In some respects an intellectual pioneer. She would have been interesting to talk to, but died in the Spring of 1981, before (though not long before) I met her niece. Pity.

“A pair of female thieves dubbed the “Rolex Rippers” have seemingly struck again after a wealthy elderly man had his watch stolen….
On Tuesday, the man in his 80s became the latest victim of two women who are targeting men in affluent areas and close to exclusive golf clubs across southern England.
The theft is believed to be at least the 21st incident, with the duo, thought to be in their 20s, targeting men in Dorset, Hampshire, Surrey, Gloucestershire and Sussex.
In many cases, the women have posed as charity workers with clipboards and have stolen watches from their victims without them realising as they sign a petition.
However, other times they have been less subtle and simply ripped the expensive timepieces off the men’s wrists.
This time the pair approached the man outside his home in Links Road, Poole, which is next to £2,000-a-year Parkstone Golf Club, at lunchtime on Tuesday.
They asked him to sign a petition and then one of the women thanked and hugged him. He did not notice until a few minutes later that his watch had been taken.
‘Be mindful of being approached’
A spokesman from Dorset Police said: “It is believed that these females are responsible for a series of similar thefts across Dorset this year and the public should be mindful of being approached in this manner or engaging in conversation with the individuals.”
The pair are believed to have struck in Dorset at least seven times before in Poole, Wimborne, Wareham, Ferndown, Highcliffe and Poundbury.
Hampshire Police said they have at least 10 victims, and two brothers, aged 85 and 91, were targeted 80 miles apart in Gloucestershire and Surrey.
Both women are said to be aged in their 20s or 30s and between 5ft 2ins and 5ft 9ins tall. They both have dark hair and Eastern European accents although some victims have believed them to be Spanish.
The spate of robberies are thought to have begun on May 19 at Stoneham Golf Club near Southampton.” [Daily Telegraph].
I am glad, in a sense, that I no longer have (or have the means to have) Rolex watches. Mine were all Rolex Seadwellers. Now I no longer have need of any watch. Relative poverty, but also relative freedom…
Oddly enough, I was just looking, not long ago, on Google maps and Google Earth, at the area of Sydney, Australia, where I lived, in the late 1960s, for 2-3 years as a child of 10-13 (Ellalong Road, Mosman/Cremorne and, for the first 6 months or so, Wyong Road, Mosman). Also, the area around the nearby little school that I attended at first (Middle Harbour PS, at Macpherson Street, Mosman; I was later at North Sydney Boys’ High, a few miles away, for 7-8 months).
Many changes. I notice that quite a few roads, including Ellalong, have been made into dead ends to prevent through traffic. A good move. Other changes? Well, quite a few houses there in the late 1960s have been demolished and replaced by much larger ones; larger houses, smaller gardens. Google Earth shows that almost every house in that neighbourhood now has a swimming pool. In 1967-69, not many did.
I notice a change in street vegetation. Far more small trees and flowering bushes, as far as I can recall. Fewer palm trees, though. There seems to have been, perhaps, a move to native species, and to more green/flowering trees, though the tall imperial palms near my old school are still there.
Overall, I should say that that neighbourhood is rather more scenic now, because of the flowering abundance, though with far more cars, both moving and parked on the street (if I remember aright, street parking was unusual when I lived there). Looking at the pictures, an impression of greater wealth overall, perhaps.
That was also true of Balmoral Beach (which was the nearest convenient beach to us, about 5-10 mins in the car). Many cafes, and a more manicured look generally.
Reports from usually-reliable sources say that one of the two magistrates who usually flank the Circuit judge at such an appeal was discovered to be, or to have been, on the board of some “holocaust” “charity” concerned with the so-called Anne Frank “diary”! That magistrate was then removed from the appeal hearing.
I shall report the result when it has been declared, presumably tomorrow sometime.
