Reform UK

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14280613/Reform-UK-Nigel-Farage-Labour-government-new-poll.html

Reform UK is now only a single percentage point behind Labour – putting their leader Nigel Farage within touching distance of Number 10 at the next election.

New polling data from YouGov, commissioned by Sky News, puts Reform on 24 per cent and Labour on 25 per cent – down a whopping 9 percentage points from their winning vote share at the 2024 UK election.

With the Conservatives on 22 per cent, the UK electorate may be about to usher in a new epoch of three-way party politics.

The new research puts Labour on 26 per cent, Reform UK on 25 per cent, the Tories on 22 per cent, the Lib Dems on 14 per cent and the Greens on 8 per cent.

In general the assessment of Sir Keir’s first six months in office is damning, with only 10 per cent of voters judging that he has been successful and an overwhelming majortity (60 per cent) saying he has been unsuccessful.

Labour insiders are also worried at how the party is hemorrhaging voters to other parties across the political spectrum.

The new data found that they have retained only 54 per cent of supporters from the general election – while 7 percent have defected to the Lib Dems, 6 per cent to the Green Party, 5 per cent to Reform UK and 4 per cent to the Tories.

Meanwhile almost a quarter of those who voted Labour in the polls (23 per cent) either did not say, weren’t sure or had decided not to vote at all.

Labour also faces a problem with elderly voters in light of policies like the removal of the winter fuel allowance, with only 14 per cent of OAPs now saying they would cast their vote for Labour – down eight percentage points from the election.

[Daily Mail]

Naturally, Reform UK is not very close to me, ideologically. Pro Israel, pro-Jewish lobby, and (relatively) anti-welfare state; pro-finance capitalism.

Still, Reform UK has its uses. To move the “Overton Window”, particularly on issues of immigration, migration-invasion, free speech etc. Above all, to break up the LibLabCon “three main parties” scam which has been in place during my lifetime.

It may well be that all party politics will crumble to dust by reason of some existential catastrophe in the world, such as nuclear war, but that is another matter, arguably.

According to Electoral Calculus [https://www.electoralcalculus.co.uk/userpoll.html], the figures given, if replicated at a general election, might result in a House of Commons with Labour holding 287 seats, Conservative Party 128, Reform UK 107, LibDems 77, Green Party 4. That would indicate a Lab-LibDem coalition, or some lesser concordat, Labour being about 37 short of an overall majority on those figures.

The (continuing) “reduction of the Gaza ghetto”…

Either ship him back or just get rid of him (and the rest).

When I was about 21-y-o, I wanted to get rid of hundreds of unwanted books, mostly paperback novels (spy stories and crime thrillers etc). I gave them to the Royal Marsden because I was then living at Reigate Hill in Surrey, only about 8 or 9 miles away from the hospital’s site at Sutton (though the distance seems more because the two areas are so different). I dropped them off at the hospital reception. I hope they at least passed the time for some of the in-patients. I suppose that must have been 1977 or 1978.

It looks, though, as if the lady tweeter noted attends not the Sutton site of the hospital but rather its other and older location, in Kensington (which would make more sense, because she lives not far from my old shooting club, the Kensington Rifle and Pistol Club, now all but defunct and no longer —since the 1990s, if not earlier—in West Kensington). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Marsden_Hospital.

My annual mammo is the best focus group of one you’ll get. Delightful radiographer tells me she’s never voted, they’re all as bad as each other and don’t listen to the NHS.

Furious about the social care plan delay not just as a healthcare worker but as the mother of a special needs adult who needs it. Her daughter volunteers in a food bank when she can, bless her.

3 disgraces in this story alone – underpaid NHS worker (my words not hers), crap & ludicrously expensive social care, food banks. I say I might have an offer you like and care passionately about fixing social care. And the rest. I also think doctors would run the NHS better, pen-pushers and deadbeat hospital CEOs, often from industry or politics, should be blocked off.

All right. Some good points, but was she saying all that when she was married to a Conservative MP and Whip (until a decade ago)? I do not know, but I doubt it. She was (and still is? I wonder…) a passionate supporter of the part-Jews David Cameron-Levita and George (Gideon) Osborne, whose government of nasty nonsense, 2010-2015, imposed so-called “austerity” (for the poor) and spending cuts which permanently crippled this country in every way.

As for “food banks”, they scarcely existed until 2010. Only on a tiny scale, anyway. Another result of “Conservative” Party policies 2010-2015.

The Fiona Syms tweeter should think about why the Conservative Party presently stands at 22% in the opinion polls, 2 points lower than at GE 2024, despite the evident hopeless incompetence and unpleasantness of the “Labour” government of “Tel Aviv Keith” Starmer and his little Labour Friends of Israel cabal.

People have not forgotten the 14 years of truly bad “Conservative” government 2010-2024, finishing off with the government of the little Indian money-juggler, Sunak; and now the “Conservatives” are “led” by a political joke (again), a Nigerian woman who only came to the UK at age 16, albeit that she spent a day or two here after her birth (in London).

Having said that, it is clear that Labour (too) is finished. After a week or two of Starmer-Labour misgovernment, I blogged as much, at which time the msm were sycophantically applauding Starmer (some stupid woman scribbler in, I think, the Guardian, even said that she found herself attracted to Starmer sexually!— Well, Henry Kissinger did say that “power is the ultimate aphrodisiac“…).

What stands out there for me is how only among those 65+ years of age is voting Conservative anywhere near the level required to ground a Conservative Party government. 35%. Not very impressive anyway, but dropping to only 25% among those 50-64 y o, and to only 16% among those aged 25-49 before almost disappearing among those aged 18-24.

It might be argued that those aged below 65 y o might well change their views when they age further (just as it was said by Soviet anti-Christian propagandists in the pre-1989 period that “only old women now attend Russian Orthodox churches“, but that was countered by those who noted that there seemed always to be another generation of old women at church…).

Yes, those now aged below 65 may well be more inclined to vote Conservative when they reach 65+, but in my opinion the numbers will never be higher, or even as high, as they now are.

If the percentage of those 65+ voting Conservative is now 35% or so, by 2029 that might easily decline to 30%, and lower thereafter. The same slide might also be seen, and probably will be seen, lower down the age scale. If the present 18-24 y o generation only vote Conservative Party at around 5%, that will almost certainly increase, but maybe only slightly, over the years to come. To what extent is hard to pinpoint, but maybe by only about 5 points in each coming generation, so at age 65+ maybe to about 20%.

Admittedly speculative.

That is assuming that the present voting and political system will still be here in 2060, 2040, or even 2030. Or the present world as we know it…

Until 6 months ago, though I already predicted on the blog that Starmer-Labour would be useless, I did not think that this government would or even could equal in infamy the totally s**t governments of 2010-2024. Well, I was wrong in that last. Starmer and his crew are as bad as, or worse than, any of the “Conservative” governments of 2010-2024.

I think that this comes within the category “shocking but not surprising”…

Yes. All true. However…where was Toby Young, and where was the “Free Speech Union”, when I was wrongfully (and, as it later turned out, unlawfully) disbarred in 2016, as a result of a concerted campaign by the Jew-Zionist lobby, specifically the overlapping “UK Lawyers for Israel” [“UKLFI”] and “Campaign Against Antisemitism” [“CAA”]?

Likewise, where were the “Free Speech Union” and Toby Young when I was subjected to a “criminal” trial over my free speech rights, and this blog?

An example of 2025 craziness

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14282311/Cambridge-law-student-sues-university-failed-PhD.html

A law student is suing Cambridge University for discrimination after he failed his PhD and delayed his career working as a barrister.

Jacob Meagher is seeking ‘substantial damages’ from the world famous institution, alleging he was the subject of disability discrimination and victimisation following the failure of his law PhD.

Mr Meagher also claimed that his oral ‘viva voce’ interview, where he was questioned about his thesis by two examiners, caused ‘significant damage’ to his health.

He ended up failing the examination, meaning he missed out on a opportunity to take up a tenancy at a ‘particular set of chambers’ and therefore ‘suffered a substantial loss of anticipated earnings’.

Outlining the claim, the judge said: ‘Mr Meagher…is a student at the University of Cambridge…undertaking a PhD in law.

‘[He] did not successfully pass his final viva voce examination of his doctoral thesis.

Court documents also stated that the University’s Disability Resource Centre had recommended that at the viva, examiners follow a set of guidelines, produced as part of a Student Support Document (SSD), to help him.

These included asking specific rather than general questions, using the active, rather than the passive, voice and allowing him pauses and breaks after questions…to allow him to ‘mentally retrieve the words or information that he needed in order to answer’.

[Daily Mail]

How on Earth does that litigant think he is going to survive at the Bar (unless he does no court work at all) if he cannot endure being verbally challenged, and needs time “to mentally retrieve the words or information that he [needs] in order to answer“?

You need a thick skin at the Bar. I should know. I was a practising barrister, in court almost daily, from 1993-1996 in London (often at the High Court, as well as in County Courts and both “the mags” and, less often, Crown Courts), and during 2002-2008 based in Exeter (though travelling widely across the UK and beyond).

Being put on the spot by a judge, especially a High Court judge (I was never at the Court of Appeal or the Supreme Court), can be a chastening experience even if the judge is (as most High Court judges are) reasonably courteous.

Woe betide the barrister who is unprepared, or whose instructing solicitors have fallen down on their job. I usually managed to put up a good show, or at least a good front, but I have seen other barristers fall silent, unable to say a word, or flounder helplessly; even, in one case (in Camberwell Magistrates’ Court, before a particularly severe Stipendiary Magistrate —the people called District Judges now—) actually whimper and almost burst into tears (it was a man, too…).

At one time, a barrister who was disabled, even physically, was at a huge disadvantage in trying to get into any chambers. Now, it is arguable that things have gone to the other extreme.

When I was in provincial chambers in Exeter, from 2002-2008 , there was a girl Bar pupil from Northern Ireland. She seemed pleasant and was afterwards offered a tenancy (after which she became markedly less pleasant). The point, though, was that she had a bad speech impediment. In my opinion, the Northern Irish accent is hard enough to understand, let alone when the speaker has a speech impediment. She did get some criminal and family work, though; low-level stuff.

In the end, that Northern Irish person gave up the Bar entirely (I was told) and returned to her native Ulster. At least there they were, presumably, able to understand what she said.

[my old chambers in Colleton Crescent, Exeter, from where I practised law at the Bar during the years 2002-2008]

Worth watching.

What a ridiculous monkeyhouse Westminster is! Look at thick-as-two-short-planks Angela Rayner, Rachel Reeves (“Rachel from Accounts”) etc, all making noise, exchanging remarks, and laughing like badly-behaved schoolchildren. Then there is stupid Liz Kendall, sitting there like a nodding dog, and about as credible.

The mainstream media milieu is a cesspit. I was just reading about some person whose name, though I had seen it somewhere, in the back of my mind, conveyed little to me. A few years younger than me (I am now 68), he has died, and even years ago was looking at least a decade or more older than me, looking at photos in the newspapers. In fact, make that 20+ years older.

Apparently, that person had, at one time, in the 1990s, been spending £4,000 a week on cocaine, and drinking 4-5 bottles of vodka every day!

You could double or treble that sum to get the same value in the money of 2025.

That tells me that such System-approved msm types are both hugely over-remunerated and totally decadent. Britain needs a thoroughgoing cultural purge even more than it needs a political purge. Hitler-level. Stalin-level. Biblical-level.

Well, there it is. Switzerland has officially lost its senses.

The Oreshnik strike is a signal to the United States and its allies that Moscow will be ready in any way to prevent them from inflicting a strategic defeat. Sergey Lavrov said this in an interview with Tucker Carlson:
“Westerners are fighting to maintain their hegemony in the world, in any country, region, on any continent. We are fighting for our legitimate security interests
.”

Key statements by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with Tucker Carlson:

Russia and the US are not officially at war, but a hybrid war is being waged against Moscow. And what is happening in Ukraine is the most visible and obvious part of this hybrid war. Moscow does not want to make things worse, but since ATACMS and other long-range weapons are being used on Russian territory, Russia is sending signals and hopes that the latest of these signals, from the new Oreshnik system, will be taken seriously.

It is obvious that the Ukrainians could not do what they do with modern long-range weapons without the direct participation of the American military.

The message we wanted to convey by testing this hypersonic system in real conditions is that we will be ready to do everything to protect our legitimate interests. The Minsk agreements stipulated that Kyiv should enter into direct dialogue with the people who did not accept the coup d’etat and promote the development of economic relations with this part of Ukraine, but none of this was done.

We prefer a peaceful settlement through negotiations based on respect for the legitimate security interests of Russia, respect for the Russian people living in Ukraine, their fundamental rights, linguistic and religious rights, which have been destroyed by a number of laws adopted by the Ukrainian parliament.

It is absolutely useless to claim that the people who came to power as a result of the military coup in February 2014 represented the Crimeans or the inhabitants of the east and south of Ukraine. The Crimeans rejected the coup, demanded to be left alone and said that they did not want to have anything to do with these people. So did the Donbass.

If there had been no coup d’état in February 2014 and if the agreement reached the day before between then-President Poroshenko and the opposition had been implemented, Ukraine would be united and Crimea would be part of it.

Russia is ready to send additional “messages” to the West if they do not draw the necessary conclusions after the launch of Oreshnik.

Russia is not considering the possibility of a nuclear war with the US.

Trump is friendly in conversation, but this does not mean he is pro-Russian.

Russia does not intend to destroy the Ukrainian people, they are brothers and sisters for Russians.

It is not his responsibility to disclose information about the number of Russian citizens killed since February 2022; this is the responsibility of the Ministry of Defense.

Russia still hasn’t received Navalny’s test results after his treatment in Germany.

Talk of a limited nuclear strike is an invitation to a catastrophe that Russia does not want.

Russia has never set out to kill people, unlike the Ukrainian regime.

There is a tragedy in Ukraine, while in Palestine there is a catastrophe

The number of civilians killed in Palestine in a year is almost twice the number of civilians killed in the Ukrainian conflict over 10 years.

US ‘feeding’ some Kurdish separatists in Syria.

Moscow does not believe that the solution to the Ukrainian issue is only for Russia and the US.

Statements by individual NATO officials about the possibility of preemptive strikes against Russia raise concerns.

The West is making a serious mistake in believing that Russia’s “red lines” can shift.

Zelensky is inadequate if, after everything he has done, he wants to return people of Russian culture to Ukraine.

For peace in Ukraine there should be no NATO, military bases or exercises involving foreign troops.

West will have to consider realities on the ground for agreement on Ukraine.

Russia will judge the Trump administration on its specific steps, but Biden wants to leave him a difficult legacy.

Why are @Nigel_Farage and Reform surging again in the polls? Because of one word. Immigration. Because of mass, uncontrolled, unprecedented immigration.

Consider just a few things we’ve learned since the election in July —and which you’ll already know if you read my newsletter.

We’ve learned that despite all the promises on Left and Right to reduce net migration it’s now rocketed to nearly one million people a year —more than twice what it was at the time of Brexit.

We’ve learned that neither Left nor Right, nor more importantly the Treasury, have any serious interest in slashing net migration and their forecasts now assume ongoing mass immigration forever.

We’ve learned that enough people to fill the city of Birmingham migrated into Britain last year —in just ONE year.

We’ve learned that the government departments and agencies that are supposed to count immigration cannot even get the numbers right.

We’ve learned that according to the government’s own forecasts Britain’s population is forecast to grow by at least another 6.5 million people by the year 2036 —equivalent to six Birmingham’s.

We’ve learned via the centrist Pew Research Centre that between today and 2050 Britain will see the largest increase in the absolute number of Muslims of all European nations.

We’ve learned that Muhammad has become the most popular baby name for boys in Britain for the first time, overtaking Noah.

We’ve learned that mass immigration is not only the biggest driver of Britain’s population growth but is now, in fact, the ONLY driver of our population growth.

We’ve learned that the fertility rate among the British has fallen to 1.4 and is forecast to fall below 1.3 by the end of the century, well below the replacement rate of 2.1 and while nobody in Westminster will dare talk about pro-family policies, we’ve learned that 86% of all immigration that’s now coming into Britain is coming from outside Europe —from poorer and radically different nations and cultures.

We’ve learned that our broken asylum system which neither of the big parties are willing to fix is now costing us at least £5.4 billion a year and has cost us around £18 billion since 2018.

We’ve learned about these costs at the very same time as our leaders have taken winter fuel payments off pensioners and smashed family farms to save £2 billion We’ve learned that over the last four years, only 15-18% of people who migrated into Britain came here to work in skilled jobs.

We’ve learned that on average each low-wage, low-skill migrant is now costing British taxpayers between £150,000 & £1 million a year.

We’ve learned that while Keir Starmer is talking about building 1.5 million homes we need to build more than half that JUST to keep up with the demand from immigration.

We’ve learned that over the last 4 years some 40,000 criminal offences were committed on Britain’s streets by immigrants who have avoided deportation.

We’ve learned that at least 1 in 4 migrants who avoid deportation have gone on to reoffend.

And we’ve learned, only this week, that since the financial crisis some 441,000 people from outside the UK have been given new social housing lettings at the same time as British families and young people have been plunged into a major housing crisis by our hapless elites.

This. This is why one in four Brits are now turning to Nigel Farage and Reform. This is why Reform is now ahead of Labour and looks set to pick up the realignment which the Tories squandered by lying to the country.

Millions of British people have simply had enough. Had enough of Labour Had enough of the Tories. Had enough of the expert class. Had enough of the lies. Had enough of the gaslighting. Had enough of the insults. They want their country back. And they will use whatever vehicle is available to get it back.”

Coudenhove-Kalergi Plan, an international, transnational conspiracy to create a mixed-race population, especially in Europe.

Both main System parties (and the LibDems) are connected to that conspiracy. Traitors who should be, and one day will be, dealt with.

The mainstream media also is riddled with traitors and those who go along with the evil plans of the conspirators for reasons of money and/or careerism.

There will one day have to be a thoroughgoing purge of the political, mass media, and general cultural milieux.

When Germany was on its knees after the First World War, and riddled with traitors and exploiters, one man, with a few followers, stood up against the tide. He attracted support and, despite the attempts to repress the national rebellion, prevailed and created the most advanced state in the world at the time.

Britain, and much of Europe, now also needs to free itself from exploitation and treachery.

The “unwanted truth”. The Twitter-twits and similar people will close their ears. They want to believe that mass immigration has nothing at all to do with the housing crisis, or low pay, restricted State benefits, crowded schools, hospitals, trains etc, even water shortages.

They also prefer to believe that you can import half a million or a million persons per year, mostly from very backward parts of the planet, to the UK, without any effect on public safety, a decent life, standards in all areas, you name it.

As Hitler said of the people of the Weimar Republic, “they want not only their daily bread but also their daily illusion“.

“Terrible news for Ukraine” – European experts on Trump’s choice of J.D. Vance Donald Trump’s choice of J.D. Vance as his candidate for the post of vice president of the United States has again raised fears in Europe that the former American leader will take a businesslike approach to foreign policy and will pursue it based on the principle of “America First,” writes The Guardian.

This, as the article notes, could lead to the United States insisting that Kyiv give in to Vladimir Putin and ask for peace with Russia. “It’s bad for us and it’s terrible news for Ukraine,” said one senior European diplomat in Washington. “Vance is not our ally.”

Foreign diplomats and observers often call Trump’s current policies a “black box,” saying it is impossible to know for sure what the unpredictable leader will do once in power. Some are comforting themselves by suggesting that leadership candidates such as former US national security adviser Robert O’Brien will maintain the status quo on foreign policy while Trump focuses on domestic affairs. But the would-be US president now has a much more energetic deputy who will stoke Trump’s skepticism about Ukraine and Europe while urging the party to pursue aggressive trade and foreign policies in other parts of the world.

Last week I made the decision to cancel my Conservative Party membership after nearly a decade. The party has failed to set out a positive vision on housing, the environment and investment, as well as a pragmatic stance on Brexit. It has also drifted from the values of inclusivity and aspiration which drew me to the party under Lord Cameron. This isn’t me leaving the Conservative party, it’s the Conservative party that has left me. Read my interview with the Telegraph on why for the first time I am politically homeless.”

Sam Melia

https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/news/crime/pudsey-4490476

A far-right activist who was caught with a library of online stickers telling non-white people to “go back” has been found guilty of inciting racial hatred.

The jury at Leeds Crown Court returned a verdict this afternoon after spending less than a day deliberating the case of Sam Melia.

The 34-year-old was on trial following a raid at his Pudsey home on Town Street in April 2021 in which police uncovered a catalogue of downloadable stickers which were “intended to stir up racial hatred” and encouraged racially-aggravated criminal damage. They also found a poster of Adolf Hitler on his wall and a book by the infamous British fascist, Oswald Mosley.

[Yorkshire Evening Post]

There was a time in England, not so very long ago, when people had real freedom of expression. Even in the 1970s, when free speech had already been cut back, it still existed to an extent unthinkable in the England of 2024, in which the “woke” or “politically correct” rule almost supreme, and in which the malicious and fanatical Jew-Zionists “monitor” anything British people say or write, lest it might be —or can be be contrived to look— “grossly offensive” (to “them”).

The great British jury has also fallen by the wayside, and now almost inevitably finds anyone accused of “inciting racial hatred” guilty, no matter how flimsy the evidence. Rubber-stamp juries. I have no idea whether that was the case in respect of the Sam Melia trial. I know only what has been in the Press over the past day or two.

Not only that. Anyone found with such innocuous things as “racist” stickers may get, not even months but years of incarceration, in an England where real crime, even violent crime, is often scarcely punished by the courts.

Look at that Yorkshire Evening Post report. Things actually perfectly lawful (having a poster of Hitler on the wall at home, owning a book by a long-dead British politician) added to the mix in a “nudge-nudge, wink-wink” way…

I do not know Sam Melia, only of him, and only slightly even on that basis, but I very much regret that he has been found guilty. My thoughts are with him, and with his wife, the socio-political activist Laura Towler.

Ukraine’s (Kiev regime’s) only hope in this war is to bring in NATO on the Kiev-regime side; to widen the conflict. Russia has not taken the bait so far, but the Zelensky regime keeps pushing, keeps prodding, in the hope of provoking a massive Russian response which might draw NATO into the war directly. If that were to happen though, it would be but a short step to a world war.

…and to the Jewish/Zionist lobby in the UK, USA, France etc.

Yes. A toad. Indeed, a “slithey tove“, it might be said…

Young and his controlled opposition friends have never said one word in defence of my supposed rights to freedom of expression.

Tell me about it…I myself face a sentencing court next week, after my conviction for having published a few supposedly “grossly offensive” comments, cartoons etc on this blog.

Many people kid themselves that we live in a somehow “free” country, when what it really is, or has become, is an “iron fist in velvet glove” dictatorship. Well-disguised at times, yes, and somewhat shambolic too, which gives the appearance of laxity (and so “liberty”), at times, but still a repressive dictatorship under (((the usual))) influence; and it is getting worse almost daily.

The usual “controlled opposition” grifters, such as Toby Young, can be disregarded as a total waste of space.

While I’ve no time for #PA, this has to be said: Sam Melia is dragged through the courts and portrayed as a racist monster over stickers with messages such as “White Lives Matter”, which graced a few hundred lampposts.

Meanwhile, Tommy Robinson is allowed to post blatant incitement and heavy-duty ‘Islamiphobia’ like this to a gigantic audience.

I have always believed that the Muslim #grooming gangs – and the native traitors who facilitated them – should be tried and, if convicted, executed. But to use their crimes to incite generic hatred of an entire community is nothing more or less than conditioning for war against Iran – a war for Israel, without a shred of legitimate British interest.

Make no mistake, this is the UK deep state giving an asset free rein to prod the herd to war.

Griffin is, of course, correct.

All the same, we must be clear from where the poisonous repression is coming. Not from, at root, the police, MI5, the CPS, but from the “special-interest cabals” behind them…

From the newspapers

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/jan/25/david-cameron-broke-convention-when-he-made-michelle-mone-a-peer-says-tory-mp

David Mundell says Scotland Office was not consulted about Mone’s 2015 appointment.

David Cameron breached “proper process” when he appointed Michelle Mone to the House of Lords in 2015, David Mundell, who was the secretary for Scotland at the time, has said.

Ms Mone is not a successful entrepreneur, she is a small-time businesswoman with a PR exposure far in excess of any actual success,” Anderson wrote. “Awarding her a peerage for a very mediocre business performance brings the awarding of titles into disrepute by rewarding failure.” [a well-informed Glasgow business leader wrote— to Cameron privately— at the time].

The type of trees also matters – forestry plantations are typically made up of fast-growing tall trees such as conifers, but they are more vulnerable to high winds than slower-growing hardwood species such as oak.

Temperate rainforest, also known as Atlantic woodland or Celtic rainforest, once covered most of western Britain and Ireland. The archipelago’s wet, mild conditions are ideal for lichens, mosses and liverworts. But centuries of destruction have meant that only small, isolated pockets remain.

Tice is hopeless. It is a measure of how unpopular the present misgovernment is, and how discontented are many of the voters, that Reform UK, even under Tice, even though it is not social-national, is apparently now on 13%, acc. to opinion polling.

Whether that will cut much ice at GE 2024 remains to be seen. We have, in a sense, been here before, with both UKIP and Brexit Party (both Farage vehicles, as is Reform UK). The difference, maybe, is in the degree of desperation felt by the voters.

When the voters feel real desperation, and in sufficient numbers, they may be ready, finally, to turn to real social-nationalism.

“...the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not“…

Those latest polling figures are striking all the same. They might translate, at GE 2024, to a Labour majority of 420, with the “Conservatives” left as a rump of 35 MPs.

Well-meaning people ripped off by a dishonest and indeed evil woman.

It is depressing, though, to observe how many of the said idiots are unwilling to see the truth even when it is presented, unambiguously and with irrefutable supporting evidence, to them… a bit like the people in the 1930s, 1940s, even up to the 1980s, who sincerely believed both in Marxism-Leninism and in the idea that the Soviet Union was a wonderful society, maybe with a few flaws here and there. I must have met hundreds like that.

Gaza (and the Jew-Zionist quasi-genocidal devastation there) is a very important issue but, as an acerbic Dutch lady once told me, about 42 years ago, “the shirt is closer than the skirt” (apparently an old Dutch proverb akin to “blood is thicker than water”). First things first. This country is now in a truly terrible mess. Our own people have needs that are not being addressed, still less satisfied. No wonder so many people say that they are “politically homeless”, and are unwilling to vote for any System party.

So it seems that the winds are set fair for a second Trump presidential term.

Alarming indeed. If there is a nuclear attack, though, there may be no warning at all.

The world has managed to avoid nuclear war so far, at least after 1945, and more by luck than judgment, arguably. Will that luck continue?

Just visualize that— a million new, and also unwanted, inhabitants in the UK in the space of a couple of years. The equivalent of a city such as Birmingham.

Anyone who supports or promotes mass immigration or migration invasion into the UK is, in real —not legalistic— terms, just a traitor.

I recall that Michael Palin, about 18 years ago, in Michael Palin’s New Europe, sympathetically interviewed both Yulia Tymoshenko (at the time, Prime Minister of Ukraine) and her then very attractive daughter, who was about 25 and was a former student at the LSE and, according to Wikipedia, Rugby School (I had thought Cheltenham Ladies’ College; maybe I mixed her up with someone else).

See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yulia_Tymoshenko; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugenia_Tymoshenko.

At that time, Eugenia Tymoshenko was married to an Englishman called Sean Carr, a rock music singer, who was then in his late thirties. He was also featured on Palin’s show. A bearded motorcyclist. The couple divorced about five years later.

Since Palin did his TV show, Yulia Tymoshenko has been convicted of corruption etc, been imprisoned, appealed, been released, and is now an MP again, and the leader of a political party. Her daughter has remarried and has a high profile but is not a politician, and the English (I think Yorkshire) rock music person, Sean Carr, died in 2018 at the relatively early age of 49 or 50.

Ha ha…

One of the five (5) tweets that resulted in my unjust and in fact unlawful disbarment in late 2016 (8+ years after I gave up Bar practice) was that describing Gove, entirely accurately, as something like a freeloading, fraudulent puppet of Israel and the UK Jewish lobby. At that time I had no idea that he was also both a drunk and a cocaine abuser. A country less decadent than the UK would have dealt with Gove long ago, and certainly would never allow the bastard into government.

Silver Skates

Saw a Russian film this evening: Silver Skates, set in 1900. Rather un-Russian in that it was quite watchable, had a plot that was not obscure, and a relatively happy ending. Not bad. Well put-together.

There were a couple of small historical errors, but overall it was a fairly impressive effort. Slight, though. Not in any way deep or thought-provoking. As I say, rather “un-Russian”.

Second tweet not entirely accurate. While it is true that GCHQ was established under that name only in 1946, it seamlessly took over the similar though (in the pre-1939 era) much smaller org known as the Government Code & Cypher School, which operated from a number of places between the two world wars, one being a station or outstation located in the Dog Kennel Hill (East Dulwich borders) and Denmark Hill border of South London. That base, not mentioned in the Wikipedia entry below, was active certainly until the late 1980s, though I think not used by GCHQ (possibly by MI5 or other org ) at that time. For all I know, it may still be in use, if not turned into a housing development as has been almost everything else in Southern England.

The arrest of a French publisher by UK counter-terrorism police over claims he took part in protests in Paris was described as an ‘assault on freedom of expression’ yesterday.

Ernest Moret, the foreign rights manager for Éditions La Fabrique in Paris, was stopped by ports officers and questioned for six hours under terrorism laws when he arrived at St Pancras station on the Eurostar from Paris at 6.30pm on Monday to attend a book fair.

His colleague Stella Magliani-Belkacem, the editorial director at the Paris-based publishing house, who was with him at the time of the arrest, told the Guardian: ‘When we were on the platform, two people, a woman and a guy, told us they were counter-terrorist police.

Were it to be flattened by e.g. a nuclear war, we might have to start from scratch, which might take hundreds, maybe thousands or tens of thousands of years (until a similar level of development is reached). Ireland is every bit as crazy as the UK now. A country of about 7M now faces migration-invasion on an unprecedented scale. Even as it stands, foreign-born nationals in Ireland comprise somewhere close to 15% of the population. If you add in births to foreign elements, make that ~20%.

Hard to know what to make of Bear Grylls. I have only seen one episode of one TV show he did. I disliked it, and his attitude. Very full of himself. Also, he killed a small and harmless animal entirely unnecessarily.

As I say, I do not have a developed view about him. One hears about him having been selected for the TA SAS thirty years or so ago (at age 20, younger than f/t SAS personnel), though that was the (then) part-time TA version (now called The Reserves), and he was in it for only 2 years actively (3 officially).

Obviously more than a bit of a “tough guy”, looking at his Wikipedia entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bear_Grylls, though I (perhaps unfairly) tend to think a little sceptically when I see someone with dozens of supposed qualifications in their skill-set. cf. Diary Blog, 1 March 2023, including thoughts about the BBC “licence fee”

Morning music

On this day a year ago

BBC “licence fee”

The whole idea that people should pay a compulsory “licence fee” (tax), not even for the BBC as such but for simply owning a TV, is completely unjust and also completely antiquated; I had thought it a hangover from the 1950s or even 1930s, but in fact it was introduced (for radio) in 1923! Here we are, a whole century later, and this nonsense still exists (for TV; the radio version was scrapped around 1980).

What does the BBC offer that is different from, let alone better than, other providers? Most of its drama and other offerings are full of politically-correct and tendentious rubbish, and its news broadcastings are System propaganda as boring as Soviet TV. It pays newsreaders half a million a year, and a loudmouth ignoramus ex-football player (Gary Lineker) as much as two million a year. Why? Why does it do that, and why is the public taxed via this “licence fee” (enforced heavily) for something so poor?

In the past, the BBC might claim, at least with some limited credibility (in the 1960s, 1970s) that it offered an, overall, more elevated cultural level than commercial stations (at the time one a couple existed in the UK, of course). That is now certainly not credible. BBC 2 has been very dumbed down over the years, and the only BBC TV channel on a consistently-high cultural level, BBC Four, is going to be closed within a few years.

The licence fee has to be ended, starting with the criminal-law sanctions. The BBC has to have its rice bowl taken away.

Incidentally, I had a now-deceased friend, the Russian language and literature lecturer and translator, and Dostoyevsky expert, Ig Avsey (a good fellow, about whom I have blogged a couple of times), who had a long-running battle with the TV licensing nuisances.

In fact, Ig was a genuine non-licence-needer, in that he actually did have no TV in his house, though he had one in a garden shed, which TV he used solely to watch obscure Russian films and other material, such as Smoktunovsky’s famous “Gamlet” [Hamlet]. I have no idea why the TV was in the shed and not the house. Ig was a considerable eccentric.

After it was realized that Ig had never had a licence, a long correspondence with the licence-enforcers ensued, which lasted for something like 20 years or longer, but he never paid for a “licence”, and (in law) never had to (as far as I know, that TV was not able to receive broadcasts at all).

This whole nonsense of a “licence fee” is just ludicrously out of date.

Seems to be a trial of strength rather than a fight for somewhere with huge strategic value, unless I have missed something. The Daily Telegraph video shows something closer to the trenches of the First World War than anything else.

The situation in the Bakhmut (former Artyomovsk) area seems unclear. Perhaps the forces of the Kiev regime are fighting there so as not to have to fight for more important places further north or west.

Moldova is not far from being a “failed state” (just like Ukraine).

Ha. Makes me wonder whether the Russian Army should have driven west rather than south…(only joking).

Whatever the rights and wrongs of the current conflict, the fact is that, historically, the Russian people, at their best, have been on a far far higher cultural level than those of Ukraine. You only have to think of the great composers, writers, poets etc.

Neither side in the conflict will negotiate over Crimea, but only fight for it. The population of Crimea is at least 90% Russian, as matters stand.

If Ukrainian (Kiev-regime) forces actually attack Crimea, I think that Kharkov, and possibly Kiev, will face attack on a large scale, and even nuclear annihilation.

Exactly my opinion. I may be wrong, but it seemed to me some time ago that many of those Twitter accounts saying “let’s all send money to ‘Jack Monroe’” were actually…Jack Monroe herself priming the pump.

Of course, if it were to transpire that “Jack Monroe” has and/or had other Twitter accounts which encouraged people to donate money or sign up to Patreon etc, then that might well be taken to be evidence tending to prove that “Jack Monroe” had fraudulent intent from, if not the start of her activities, then anyway for some years.

Exactly like the “Bootstrap Cook” stuff: carbohydrate-heavy food, with few vitamins or minerals. This type of food, if not supplemented, leads to public health problems down the line.

However justified the NHS strikes may be from the employees’ point of view, the fact is that to leave people helpless and suffering is just very wrong, to say the least. Public sympathy for hospital staff will quickly evaporate, especially after 2+ years of unnecessary “panicdemic” measures, facemask nonsense, NHS non-service etc.

What’s that? The usual slab-faced “woke” idiot-woman?
