According to Palestinian human rights organizations, citing Dr. Hussam Abu Safia’s lawyer, Ghayda Ghanem Qassem, after a recent visit, the critical condition of Kamal Adwan Hospital Director became known:
Dr. Abu Safia has lost 40 kilograms, his weight dropping from 100 to 60 kg.
He was subjected to severe beatings to his chest, face, head, and neck, which lasted for about 30 minutes.
The Israeli are denying him necessary medications and are not allowing a specialist doctor to see him.
Dr. Abu Safia has a heart rhythm disorder.
He is in winter clothing in harsh conditions of detention: hunger, torture, and solitary confinement. Dr. Abu Safia is being held in an underground cell without access to sunlight.”]

[“In the week that Jeffrey Epstein’s black book is back in the news, it’s worth thinking about how the Zionist state uses sexual habits as leverage in British politics. John Woodcock (the Lord’s own punchline in nominative determinism), who now styles himself ‘Lord Walney‘, was chair of Labour Friends of Israel. He was suspended from the Labour Party amid allegations he had sexually harassed a former female member of staff. He resigned from the party before these allegations could be investigated by the Labour Party and served as one of the State of Israel’s chief assets in Parliament, along with John Mann, Ruth Smeeth and Luciana Berger. Woodcock served the Zionist smear campaign against the Corbynite Left and was then returned to Parliament as a life peer by Boris Johnson in 2020 as a vote of thanks both from the State of Israel and the Conservative Party, for his services to both. The State of Israel has acted as a shield for Woodcock against these sexual harassment allegations, protecting him along the way and the elevating him to the Lords. In return, his loyal service to the Zionists is to foment Islamophobic hate campaigns against charities, mosques and other Muslim organisations. Woodcock should be investigated by the security services as a potential agent of a hostile and illegitimate foreign state which spies on the UK extensively and subverts our politics more than any other state. It is a wonder that he has not been prosecuted under the National Security Act. What is the legislation for if it is not going to be used to discipline individuals such as Woodcock? #DismantleZionism“]
I have written in the past on the blog about mentally-unstable sex-pest John Woodcock (who is now married to Spectator scribbler, and fellow depressive case, Isabel Hardman). See:
Woodcock is, of course, an enemy of the British people. He should never have been either “ennobled” (a ludicrous designation when applied to someone of his sort) or appointed as a paid governmental adviser. Thank God the bastard has now been sacked.
Evil Woodcock’s origins seem to have been concealed. One can find little about his real background, family, parentage etc.
Quite a few MPs and former MPs in the UK seem to have their full details, origins etc deliberately concealed. Democracy? Largely meaningless.
Woodcock once tweeted —critically— to me, about a decade ago, but was then advised by fake “socialist” (himself part-Jew, despite the Zionist Jews being hostile to him), Owen Jones, not to talk to me because I was, apparently, “a Nazi“…
In the US, they call that kind of display a “chimp-out”. London is becoming, once you leave the more wealthy areas, a jungle, and in the jungle live the feral denizens of the jungle.
A friend of mine once lived somewhere north of Manor House. She became upset when I referred to it as “bandit country“, and that was over 25 years ago! Incidentally, that lady eventually fled to the South Coast, as many have done.
67 children have died from famine and malnutrition in Gaza while ~9,000 trucks full of aid waiting at the border.

If there is any reality to that, it will change UK politics forever. It might result in a Commons with maybe 450-500 Reform MPs, and the old Lib-Lab-Con System parties, together with Corbyn-Labour and the Greens sharing about 100 MPs, about 20-40 each (Greens about 5).
I have never claimed a long culinary repertoire; indeed, before I married for the first time, I lived almost entirely on cold food (whatever the season), or fed while outside my residence(s), though I did occasionally cook buckwheat kasha (quite nice if boiled then fried), scrambled eggs and, from time to time, vegetable curry.
Two marriages etc have, perhaps counter-intuitively, led me to pick up a few other recipes, such as fish pie. Today, though, I embark on something new, formerly had only at other people’s houses (often in gardens) in summer— okroshka.
Sometimes, okroshka has ham in it, but I do not eat meat, and I think that (as with Russian or “Olivier” Salad), ham or other meat is an unnecessary extra anyway.
I doubt that mine will match examples had elsewhere, prepared by foodie people, and I lack kvass (a drink made from fermented rye bread), a usual ingredient, but I expect it will be good enough.
On this hot day, I have also been thinking about something else, namely the fact that the Starmer-stein Labour Friends of Israel government has lost control of this country in every way.
Migration-invasion continuing at an even greater rate, with an average of about 1,000 a day now crossing illegally, and a further 5,000+ coming in “legally”, as (or posing as) “dependent family”, “spouses”, “fiances”, “tourists”, “high-skilled workers” (Indians able to work a computer, medical staff etc), “students” (few ever return home), and so on.
We also have an “invasion by births”, births of non-Europeans, whether born in the UK or not.
Court system on its knees, street crime ubiquitous (in the London area). The latest wheeze is to release “some” (presumably, non-political) prisoners after they have served 20% of their headline sentence, so someone sentenced to a year will only do about 10 weeks, and a 3-month sentence will presumably be, in reality, 2-3 weeks .
If there were no non-Europeans in this country, or only small numbers, the prison population would not be about 120,000 but nearer to 20,000. In fact, if the Irish “tinker”/”traveller” element, and the Roma Gypsy element, were also both removed, the number of prisoners would fall to about 10,000.
The court system has backlogs which are getting worse. I noticed that Professor/Dr David Miller, now being privately prosecuted in the magistrates’ court by the malicious Jew-Zionist org “Campaign Against Antisemitism” or “CAA”, had his first appearance a few days ago. Trial is set for December!
In the Crown Courts, many cases starting their process now, have trial dates, in some instances, set as far ahead as 2029!
The streets, especially in London, are becoming an urban jungle.
This government has pretty much lost control. Ironic, really, because there has not been a UK government so full of control freaks since the days of Tony Blair.
Incidentally, another cold soup I like is vichyssoise. Maybe tomorrow or the next day.
Foreign Affairs magazine notes an unexpected trend: contrary to expectations, the aggressive policies of the United States and Israel have not weakened Iran, but on the contrary, have strengthened the country from within.

“I don’t know what Jake thinks he’s gone to, but it certainly isn’t a different flavour of the Conservative Party.”
I almost (but not quite) feel sorry for Penny Mordaunt. After a non-“silver spoon” childhood and youth, and some years in public relations, she became an MP at 37 (in 2010), a minister in 2015, and a Cabinet minister by 2017. By 2022, she was regarded as a potential Conservative Party leader and so, at the time, Prime Minister.
Now, Penny Mordaunt apparently makes an income as part-time “consultant” to British-American Tobacco, though it is hard to see what value, if any, she might bring to such a role.
Penny Mordaunt (whom, as a politician, I do not entirely dislike) is now politically irrelevant, and still seems to regard the Conservative Party as the main show in town, whereas in reality the Con Party is on its last legs. The polling says it all: Starmer-Labour is a dead party walking, in much of the country, but that does not mean that the Conservative Party will bounce back as in the past. Look at the opinion polling. The Con Party is on 16%, 17%, somewhere around there, with no sign of increasing its support.
Politically, and at only 52, Penny Mordaunt is finished, in my opinion. She has no Commons seat, and is unlikely to win back her former seat (though I concede that that might just be possible in a 3-way Labour-Reform-Con contest in —?— 2029 at Portsmouth North). I doubt that she would join Reform under any circumstances (and, to give her her due, I think that she is driven, partly, by principle as well as by expediency— but after her near-win in 2024, she would surely be “nailed on” if standing again but under the Reform banner).
Penny Mordaunt looks defeated on that video.
“Many are called but few are chosen” applies to politics as much as other things.
Reminiscences:temps perdu, and thoughts about mortality
When one is well over 60, as I now am (68; b. 1956), thoughts may naturally turn to mortality, life and death, and questions larger than the everyday concerns of life. That may be so when one notices that many people one has known in life are now defunct.
Some of the people I have known, or have merely met briefly or peripherally in the past, are still alive; many, however, are not. Some of those who are no longer alive have died from various natural causes (and are too numerous to list), others expired from unnatural causes (such as a Nigerian princess I knew, shot dead in Lagos in the late 1990s) or from causes or reasons unknown (such as the ex-husband of a lady I knew in the 1980s, which ex-husband apparently drowned in the Thames at London). A few, friends of friends rather than people I knew well, sadly died via suicide many years ago.
These thoughts came again to mind yesterday when I noticed information online to the effect that a former American colleague, a major-league American lawyer called Tim Scrantom, died some time ago, in 2021, apparently of a brain tumour. He was diagnosed in April 2021, and died 6 months later.
[Tim Scrantom, 1956-2025]
Tim Scrantom was a couple of months younger than me, a fact which sharpens my reminiscence.
I met Scrantom after a headhunter in New York suggested to him and his two main colleagues, in 2001, that I might suit his niche law firm (based in Charleston, South Carolina). I was telephoned in Turkey, where I was then resident, and we arranged to meet in London at one of my usual haunts, the Churchill Bar at the Hotel Russell in Russell Square.
I drove back to England via Greece, Bulgaria, Romania (the latter two then not EU states, and very ramshackle), Hungary (excellent country), Austria, Germany (calling in at Berchtesgaden), Luxembourg, and Belgium.
The upshot was that Scrantom and I became colleagues, he based mostly at Charleston (the office was at East Bay Street, in the conservation zone of the city), I mostly in London, though we both visited various offshore jurisdictions, once or twice in tandem, as when we went to Liechtenstein one day (well, I did; Scrantom had left his passport at the Mayfair Hotel, and only discovered that fact when we met at Heathrow, prior to flying to Zurich…).
Scrantom was a genial host. He invited my wife and me to dinner in Charleston in August or early September 2001 and, on a later solo visit, I visited his home on Sullivan’s Island, by Charleston, where he lived with his then wife (I believe they divorced later) and young daughter.
Scrantom, though a graduate from American law schools, an attorney in several states, and a professor of law as well, was also a barrister of Gray’s Inn in London. I was a barrister of Lincoln’s Inn, though many years later (2016) wrongfully and unlawfully disbarred at the instigation of a pack of malicious and politically-motivated Jew-Zionists.
Scrantom, incidentally, was a modest fellow, very much a “Southern gentleman”, born in Georgia and from a wealthy background. I liked him. I never knew (until yesterday) about some of his earlier adventures, such as sailing around the Bahamas on his yacht, exploring the Himalayas, or visiting edgy places in Cambodia and elsewhere in South-East Asia, though he did tell me that he knew several of the people portrayed in the famous book and film Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midnight_in_the_Garden_of_Good_and_Evil_(film)], the events of which occurred in Savannah, Georgia, where Scrantom’s family members were largely based.
In September 2001, I was with Scrantom in a taxi in the Strand, London, when his wife called to say that New York was under attack. We interrupted our journey (to the Berkeley Square area of Mayfair) to get out at a Dixons store to look at the TV screens.
I well remember him later fuming that Iraq “must have” been behind the attack on the World Trade Center (that was the neo-con and American msm line at the time, of course) and that “Israel has the right idea” (i.e. bomb the hell out…). Well, he was wrong, of course, and we disagreed about that. Like most Americans, and despite his intelligence and education, he was influenced by the pro-Israel propaganda so pervasive in the msm in the USA (though his main colleague, Ron, a hard-driving former USAF officer, was more alive to the menace of Jew-Zionism, and he was, as one might expect, also pro-USA to the hilt).
I do not much like the concept (and Jew-Zionists in England use “litigation insurance” to pursue pro-Israel “lawfare”), so maybe it is just as well that our professional connection was mainly severed in 2002, when I decided to return to the ordinary practising Bar in England. I then moved to a large country house in Cornwall, and was based professionally at Exeter.
As already mentioned, I liked Tim (though not his then wife, to be frank; I only met her once), though I should say that he and his two main colleagues had no idea at all about how to run a law firm.
Life is short, something few if any really understand when in their twenties or thirties. We all have to try to accomplish something, not in a careerist sense, but for the future of the Earth, while in any particular incarnation.

🚨 Something very dark is happening in the #EU. Today, half a million people in Croatia's capital Zagreb turned up at a concert by a band linked to fascist ideologies. Crowds cheered, lit torches as the WW2 Nazi slogan "Za Dom Spremni" was chanted.
That idiot, a (?) 30-something wannabee or occasional scribbler, tweeted something about me quite a while ago, I think in 2023 or 2024. He seems to be very pro-Jew-Zionist and pro-Israel, and his msm scribblings (it seems as part of teams, not sole bylines) were 6-11 years ago. A few more recent scribblings have been for online outlets (of which few have ever heard). https://muckrack.com/colin-cortbus/articles.
Apparently, that Cortbus person was once a UKIP activist (when a student, about 12-14 years ago).
I notice that that individual has only about 2,500 Twitter/X followers. When a pack of Jews had me expelled from Twitter in 2018, I had 3,000 followers (and that had been artificially lowered); by now I would have had tens of thousands of Twitter followers. Incidentally, I was unaware about that event in Zagreb. Looks as though parts of Europe are waking up.

Economic sanctions rarely work. When I was in Rhodesia in 1977, the roads outside the capital, Salisbury (now Harare) were empty, but that was not because of sanctions (fuel rationing only lasted 1965-1971). New cars were often seen in the city, though none were of British manufacture; French, I think Spanish, or other. Sanctions had limited effect— things such as books, Scotch whisky etc. Nothing really major. Tobacco, oranges, chrome etc were still exported (often under false flags).

If MOSSAD or AMAN had that stuff, does the SVR now also have it, or some of it? About Trump, for example?
I presume that Lewis is hiding out in Israel. He has or had a flat in Eilat, a fact that he concealed from the Solicitors’ Disciplinary Tribunal when he was found guilty on several charges in 2018. Indeed, his Counsel told the Tribunal that Lewis should have his fine greatly reduced because Lewis’s only assets were his clothes, a mobility scooter, and a private pension worth £70 a week.
Mark Lewis is little better than a confidence trickster.
Incidentally, Lewis was an abusive husband when married briefly (one year) to the Z-list “celebrity” and, briefly, Sky News newsreader, Caroline Feraday (amusingly, best-known for having been sacked by text message by BBC local radio about 15 years ago).
Not that I care at all about Lewis’s abusive behaviour to his then wife, who now lives in a “nowheresville” in the outer regions of Los Angeles (see my blog posts).
The Feraday woman joined with Lewis in attacking me viciously on Twitter (about my opposition to the Jewish fake WW2 “reparations” scam); in fact she initiated the attacks, with which Lewis then joined in. Until then (many years ago, about 2012 or so), I had never heard of the bastard, or her.

Mark Lewis was (maybe still is) a “patron” of that evil and squalid organization, the “Campaign Against Antisemitism” or “CAA”, working with its main characters, such as Gideon Falter (a proven liar and, arguably, perjurer) and the Jew-Zionist Israel fanatic, posing as “Head of Investigations and Enforcement”, whom we can call “Slitherman”.
An example below of Lewis’s abusive social media activity, which (after several years) got him into trouble (though not via me— unlike the Jew-Zionist troublemakers, I do not waste time making endless complaints to police etc):
(in fact, in 2018, it was revealed that Lewis constantly abused people on Twitter etc, even a young Jewish boy; Lewis blamed his medications for his abusive behaviour…).
My own Twitter account, as explained, was deleted by Twitter itself in 2018 at the instigation of effectively the same pack of Jews, while Caroline Feraday deleted her original Twitter account a year or two ago, mainly because it was too embarrassing for her in various ways. She has another Twitter/X account now (with only 115 “followers”, despite she herself following 166 Twitter/X accounts).
Caroline Feraday’s now-deleted Twitter account had, at one time, tens of thousands of “followers”, all fake, all bought by her and by “Mark Lewis Lawyer”, who himself bought nearly 80,000 in an attempt to seem important, popular etc. Legal business news outlets even commented, cautiously, about the dishonest fakery of Lewis and his then wife.
Caroline Feraday now works for local public radio station KCLU in Ventura County, California, a subsidized radio station (National Public Radio network) with (putting it jokingly) about half a dozen listeners.
A few years ago, Caroline Feraday was publicly begging on GoFundMe, in an attempt to raise a mere USD $5,000. Sic transit gloriamundi…(and “celebrity”)…
I think it will become clear ‘mediocre’ is very generous.

The rest of that thread is unintentionally funny: some Labourite cretin fantasizing about how much better this fake-Labour government would have been had either Liz Kendall (WHAT?!) or (Jesus H. Christ!) Gloria de Piero had become Labour leader! The latter, incidentally, was the useless and brainless TV presenter who became a “Labour-lite” MP in 2010, stepped down as MP in 2019 (knowing she would not be re-elected) and is now, thankfully, all but forgotten.[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gloria_De_Piero].
The same person who told everyone to give Starmer a chance!
I do not know much about Rod Stewart, but I get the impression that he is someone who does like to give someone a chance. Starmer-stein has had his chance, and continues to do things that make him and Labour either hated or held in contempt, or both.
Needless to say, for me, Reform UK is underwhelming, not really “national”, and is pro-Jewish lobby, pro-Israel, pro-finance-capitalism etc, BUT also the only game in town to crush the existing System party set-up that has been around for so long, certainly since the 1930s, and effectively since about 1900 if not prior to that date.
For me, it scarcely matters that Reform UK is itself basically a germinal System party, because its role is to chuck Labour and Conservative parties into the dustbin of history. After that, we shall see…
Nazi descendants promoted to leading posts in West purposefully — Russian Foreign Ministry. "The trend is obviously neo-Nazi," Maria Zakharova noted:https://t.co/LZOEOsr4S9pic.twitter.com/vwk3A9JAZs
Ha. If only! The Russians have rather painted themselves into a corner with the “Nazi” stuff. The fact is that the Kiev regime is basically Jew-Zionist, and allied to Israel. As for “Nazi descendants“, that presumably refers to the new British SIS Chief, Blaise Metreweli, who has both Georgian and Ukrainian antecedents: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blaise_Metreweli.
There has been a trend in Russian propaganda in recent years of being rather silly, especially around the “neo-Nazi Ukraine” stuff, and so on. Also, the pro-Stalin and “Great Patriotic War” nostalgia stuff.
Maria Zakharova might educate herself a little were she to read more widely about the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. e.g. The World I left Behind (published in Russian as Niece of the General Secretary, Племянница Генсека) by Lyubov Brezhneva: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyubov_Brezhneva.
I need Russia to win the war with the Kiev regime, Russia has to win this war, appalling though it is, but it must drop the silliness of some of its propaganda (and also appoint better military and intelligence strategists).

Starmer’s welfare cut concessions “create a two tier system” and show Labour don’t know what they’re doing, says Coronation Street star @CheryleeHouston.
It does not surprise me that Starmer-stein is morally corrupt, and the same goes for quite a few of his MPs (and the “Conservative” ones). What has slightly surprised me over several recent years (since about 2009, when I returned to live full-time in the UK) is how utterly clueless, totally ignorant, so many MPs are, including Cabinet ministers and, indeed, Prime Ministers (Starmer-stein, Liz Truss, Boris-idiot, Theresa May, Cameron-Levita, Sunak, even Gordon Brown).

In Essex, party lost a safe ward to Reform last night + failed to stand in Mid Devon
One asks: "What’s more embarrassing: not fielding a candidate – or losing supposedly safe wards"https://t.co/5FGsmxgMt1
Unsurprising. A party led by a Nigerian woman who is only here because her parents came to London for her birth (at that time, 1980, anyone born in the UK could later apply for a British passport). Kemi Badenoch is not really British at all. Until she was about 16-17, she had only been here for a day or two after her birth. She was brought up in Nigeria and then the USA. She is alien.
Apart from that, though, imagine a party (“Conservative” by name) which apparently intends to help Starmer-stein, Rachel Reeves, and Liz Kendall pass their social security/”welfare” cuts package, so cruel and unfeeling, and so unnecessary.
Huge amounts of money are wasted on all sorts of nonsense, such as the nuclear-weapons-carrying fighter-bombers the UK is apparently going to waste money buying from the USA. Do the cretins pretending to run this country really believe that Russia, as it now is, wants to invade Western Europe, even invade the UK? The idea is ludicrous.
Meanwhile, the only invasion that matters is continuing: 500-1,000 across the Channel most days now, with a further ~5,000 coming in “legally” as (supposedly) “high-skilled” workers (who never leave), spouses, fiancees, tourists (who never go back), “students” (who never go back) etc. Also, births to non-Europeans already here (about 1,600 births a day occur in the UK, of which the majority now are non-white). Call it a total of about 7,000. Every day…
It's hard to see what @Conservatives offer. They blew an 80 seat majority with a narcissistic roman orgy of back stabbing, Kemi failed to deliver the brexit red tape bonfire, they banned real cars, blew up power stations for PR stunts and had the highest taxes for decades.
People spend 13, often 16, sometimes as many as 20 years, in full-time education in this country, and most know FA. Truly radical change needed.

[“Israel’s plot to attack Iran hatched up to 15 years ago Israel had seeded target locations with “boots on the ground” long before June 13, an intelligence source told The Times.
The collected intel assisted Israel’s targeting of three nuclear sites in Tehran and Isfahan, including seven separate elements of the Natanz enrichment facility, and scores of other sites.
Israeli agents allegedly visited missile factories and workshops which Israel later targeted, including “the entire industry that supported” production of the conventional armaments.
Mossad possibly recruited “Iranian insiders,” the report hinted. Besides missile launches at Israel, a big component of Iran’s response to Israeli aggression has included hunting down Mossad agents, scores of whom have now been caught carrying improvised explosive devices, military-grade explosives, drones and even anti-tank missiles. Some agents have attempted suicide, while others engaged in dramatic, high-speed shootouts with police while attempting to get away.“]
As a John le Carre character reflected, intelligence work rests on patience and a kind of gentleness. Learn from the enemy and the potential enemy. Learn from history. MOSSAD, the KGB and GRU in their heyday, Chinese Intelligence, people such as Maurice Oldfield and Markus Wolf etc.
As for Israeli intelligence, remember what famous former MOSSAD operative Ostrovsky wrote, 36 years ago, i.e. that, in all countries where Jews exist, military and terror plans are in place, weapons and explosives secreted, to be used by selected Jews when the time comes. Look at the UK. Hundreds of young Jews go to Israel every year to be trained by the Israeli armed forces. They then return, most of them, to the UK, become journalists, editors, business parasites, City traders, whatever…but are also, some of them, agents or secret co-workers of MOSSAD, AMAN etc.

In any case, Shapps (who is nothing but a dishonest Jew fraudster) is talking nonsense. The RAF, even if deployed in Israel’s defence, could not, in all likelihood, stop Iranian hypersonic missiles from hitting their designated targets. RAF planes, if so tasked, could stop some of the other missiles, drones etc attacking Israel, but the Israeli Iron Dome and other systems have shown themselves well capable of doing that anyway. The Israelis are already doing that themselves, in other words.

As she says, Romanians on the one hand, and Roma Gypsies on the other, are completely different types of people. Racially, ethnically and, therefore, culturally. They just live, or used to live, many of them, in the same country (Romania). Wake up, people…

As said previously, those migrant invaders are coming, as invaders always have throughout history, for the lives, homes, and women of the invaded population. The only difference is that the invasion of Europe, and perhaps especially the UK, at the present time, is being co-ordinated by the “British” Government itself. System MPs. System civil servants. System lawyers and judges. System msm scribblers and TV talking heads.
Instead of defending the British people and their borders, the whole System is conspiring against us. Those traitors should be detained, and then warehoused far away from our society.
Let’s also not forget that 7/10 was Netanyahu’s fault. Horrendous security failures and he blocked an investigation. He’s the problem, they need to get rid. And then tackle external threats without bombing other countries and getting badly bombed back.
Jenrick is a total and corrupt puppet of Israel, and of the Jew-Zionist lobby. Arguably the worst such in this country. Even worse than Starmer-stein and his cronies.

Bad news. Why was Iran not better prepared? Not that I support the Iranian regime, as such, but I would, needless to say, never support the Jew-Zionists either.
Iran has no other choice but to continue until the end, whatever the end brings.

Had I been in the responsible position in Iran, I should have prepared well in advance (as the Israelis did). Not only in the obvious ways. For example, the Iranians, via their Hezbollah proxies, and with better technical and financial resources, could have dug very deep tunnels from pro-Iran areas of Lebanon, much deeper than those uncovered in Gaza, and penetrated Northern Israel using those. Via such tunnels, mobile flying columns on jeeps, and also using armoured vehicles including armoured cars and even tanks, could then have emerged as a viable fighting force somewhere in Northern and maybe even Central Israel itself, perhaps as special forces used only to attack targets of the highest strategic importance on the ground.
Obviously, those proxy forces would then have waited before launching their attacks, not (as they did) attacking prematurely a couple of years ago. Co-ordination. Strategy. Logic. Remember Clausewitz— concentration of forces; Schwerpunkte.

Typical. “They” are always bullies, but cringe when they themselves are attacked, and then present themselves as “victims”.
Netanyahu claims that Iran has or had 20,000 missiles, not the 3,000 figure bandied about. That means that, even if the Israelis are destroying 95% of those incoming, there might yet be up to 1,000 able to reach their targets.
As previously blogged, for me the three main strategic targets in Israel must be the city of Tel Aviv (particularly targets of military or economic importance), the Ben-Gurion Airport 12 miles southeast of Tel Aviv, and the Dimona nuclear research/weapons complex in the Negev Desert in southern Israel.
There may be other worthy targets of strategic importance unknown to me (and/or completely secret) of course, but concentration of forces doctrine dictates choice of target; not everything can be hit by an attacking force anyway.

Interesting. So the Israelis hide command centres under civilian hospitals…is that why they destroyed the hospitals in Gaza, because they knew or assumed that Hamas was doing the same?
According to Israel's own logic, Israel is using human shields; they set the Mossad Headquarters, IDF Headquarters, Iron Dome units and other legitimate targets in the densely populated area of Tell Aviv.
Well, I myself would not have “supported” the Jewish state no matter how restrained were its attacks on Gaza, but it is true that the brutal quasi-genocidal flattening of Gaza has opened many eyes to the nature of the Israeli Jews and their semi-ethnostate.
What Piers Morgan misses is the hidden agenda of the Jew-Zionists— to deport the surviving population of Gaza to concentration camps in the region, then repopulate the Gaza Strip with Jews either from Israel or from the USA and other parts of the world where Jewish populations exist.

[“Walk down almost any high street in England. There’s a vape shop, run by a foreign man who can barely speak English. There’s a Turkish barber, run by a foreign man who can barely speak English. There’s an ‘asian’ grocery store, run by a foreign man who can barely speak English. Character, gone. Community, gone. Independent British shops, mostly wiped away. It just doesn’t feel like England anymore. Does all of this make our country richer? It certainly doesn’t feel like it, walking through the decaying heart of almost every town in the country. The quiet, relentless erosion of community by the sheer scale and pace of change imposed from above – the sense that we were one nation, one people. It all just feels gone. When gangs of foreign men loiter on street corners, shouting in their own language, drinking and spitting. Are we supposed to just accept that as normal? Is that now what our country is? Women feeling intimidated in their own towns? Because I don’t like it. It did not used to be like this. It’s not England. And it doesn’t have to be like this. The change that has been imposed on us? It is not permanent. It is not irreversible. It is not inevitable. Before any of that can happen, we need to get our politicians to even begin to discuss these issues – honestly, openly and without fear. Labour, Reform, Conservative. All scared of their own shadows, terrified of being called racist by an establishment media based in leafy Surrey towns that are yet to be enriched by all of this wonderful immigration. I am so past caring about what these people think. We deserve to feel at home in the towns that our ancestors built. Not unsafe, not intimidated, not unwelcome. I’ve had enough of it. The British people have had enough of it. It’s time the rest of Westminster caught up.“]
Is Rupert Lowe wrong? I think not.
In the end, we really only need about 10% of the present population anyway in order to be able to build a foundation for an ethnostate, which itself will be the basis, or one basis (i.e. the one in the British Isles) for a future super-race.

Standards are falling through the floor.
I see no rush, on the part of the fanatical Jew-Zionists in the UK, to fly to Israel’s aid (admittedly they could not anyway, when the only international civil airport is closed). They prefer to sit in front of their computers in this country, maliciously “reporting” so-called “antisemitism” online, and urging mass slaughter in Gaza, the West Bank, and now Iran.

Is 'lawyer' Sir Keir Starmer – in effect telling Parliament that a crime – an illegal & unprovoked attack – when committed by his friend (Israel) – resulting in death – is not illegal murder – as the dead victim was not very nice?
Israel has the world’s largest per capita nuclear stockpile, has never signed a non-proliferation treaty, has never been inspected by the IAEA — and their nukes are controlled by a man wanted for war crimes by the ICC.
But sure, tell us more about “good guys” vs “bad guys”.

"Of the 84,000 people who received initial decisions on their asylum claims, almost half of them, 47%, were granted protection and allowed to stay in the country."https://t.co/t5Xtins5i0
As noted previously on the blog. In fact, in the end, about 80% of the supposed “asylum-seekers” are allowed to stay. Starmer-stein will make sure that that figure rises to 90%, and even the ones that eventually fail to make a case will, most of them, not be deported.
Under the now completely outdated rules and principles established after WW2, there are quite literally hundreds of millions of people who might make out a case for asylum in the UK, the state the world is in. Are our so-called “leaders”, the System political idiots, going to allow them all in? What do you think our society will look like then (before it collapses)?

All so that civilized European countries can waste the resources that should be going to the future of those countries on the maintenance —forever— of million upon million non-European parasites and their offspring. Scarcely any will make a positive contribution (even leaving aside the racial-demographic aspects); most will be (and are) at best parasites, at worst criminal or terroristic.
I used to think fears of open sectarian conflict, as a consequence of mass migration, were overblown. But the conflagrations in LA and NI, 5,000 miles apart, could be worrying precursors to more serious confrontations in the future. https://t.co/6s6pqVviWGpic.twitter.com/25LvVdDKzo
It's likely to happen eventually. Once you drill into the data, almost all conflicts are between genetically distinct people groups, and the UK has been increasing the average genetic distance between its residents.
The concept of the creation of a “super-race” does not (only) mean that one existing race rules other existing races, but (also) means the gradual change, or sometimes less gradual change, from an existing race to a higher race-form, one which can be the basis or foundation for a quantum leap in human evolution.
On the same day a 649-page document was published with the name, age, gender & ID of known Palestinians killed in Gaza, of which the first 14 pages contain infants younger than 1, Keir Starmer, who has funded and supplied this, has declared “the Holocaust cannot be repeated.” https://t.co/0uRunzq9DR
“This was the first year that participation in Holocaust Memorial Day fell, we can’t sit back and accept that.
Tonight I am making two decisions in advance of that review. First, the Holocaust will remain on the curriculum come what may.
“And second, even schools who do not currently have to follow the national curriculum will have to teach the Holocaust when the new curriculum comes in.
“For the first time, studying the Holocaust will become a critical, vital part of every single student’s identity.”
[The Independent]
Starmer went on to say that the small park right next to the Palace of Westminster would be vandalized by having a Jewish-Zionist triumphalist “holocaust” centre built on it:
“So yes, we will build that national Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre. And build it next to Parliament.
“Boldly, proudly, unapologetically.”
[The Independent]
Starmer is like one of the puppets used in those 1960s British children’s shows such as Thunderbirds or Stingray. At times, you can quite easily see the strings controlling his movements.
Starmer, Rachel Reeves, Yvette Cooper and the rest are all puppets of Jewish Zionism and the Israel lobby. Now intending to insist that every school student in the UK pays ritual obeisance to the “holocaust” mythus. Any who refuse, or do not tick all the required boxes (or who question the narrative, either as a whole or in detail), will probably be barred from higher studies.
This is an anti-British, anti-European, anti-historical dictatorship, controlled by an alien element, and which tries to impose an intellectual straitjacket on both history and politics.
As Starmer admitted, the contrived historical narrative is increasingly failing to convince British people; they are not interested, and/or do not believe the narrative usually blasted out at them.

I hardly think you’re in any position to comment on anyone’s suitability for anything. This is you isn’t it? “a nominated judge found that Recorder Myerson’s behaviour amounted to #misconduct.”https://t.co/j1k4nlMQqB
Myerson did not take that “advice” (reprimand) of March 2024 on board, continued to post vituperative tweets etc, and was then, in effect, sacked earlier this year (June or July 2024) as a Recorder (p/t judge), though he was allowed to present it as “resignation”.
Now Myerson is implying in his tweets that the (Israeli) Jews were “clever” in their Lebanon pager-explosive operation.
As a matter of fact, I agree with Myerson as to that. It was clever. It was also very wicked, particularly in that something like 1,000 people other than the supposed Hezbollah personnel killed, were injured; most if not all were ordinary passers-by, shoppers etc.
Thank God that someone as unpleasantly nasty as Myerson, and so lacking in basic decency, is no longer able to sit in the seat of legal judgment over British and other people.
One can see why the Bench had to have Myerson removed. He was —and is— unfit to pronounce judgment on anyone.
Thanks. I will. As you mourn the terrorists you so admire. From a safe place of course – you’d not actually want to be near them. Sleep well. Leave your phone outside.
Perhaps the Bar Standards Board might like to take a look at Myerson. I am not usually in favour of free-speech restriction, but in this case it would be only just, Myerson having been one of the Jews who (as an active member of “UK Lawyers for Israel”) had me disbarred for having posted a few tweets long after I ceased to be a practising barrister: see

Exactly. It is easy to be bien-pensant when the only non-whites you ever meet are of the educated and/or intelligent, or pleasant, few; especially when, if you are John Major, you have VIP protection and security where you live and whenever you travel.
John Major was a disaster for this country I seem to remember. The Maastricht Treaty which he signed up to without consulting the electorate didn't help. I actually once met him, when he was a bus conductor.
That last tweet is a typical example of false memory (or maybe an outright lie): John Major never was a bus conductor. He did apply, and was accepted for the job provisionally, but was rejected because he was too tall. He therefore never worked as a bus conductor, and that tweeter could therefore never have met him in that role: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Major#Early_post-school_career_(1959%E2%80%931979)
Such false memory is actually quite common. The noted —but apparently not much liked— big businessman, “Tiny” Rowland [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiny_Rowland] was said to have once worked as a porter at Paddington Station (Wikipedia does not mention it, but I believe Rowland did work there as a porter, though only very briefly, and in the early part of the Second World War, when he was about 20).
A friend of mine, a lady who often walked through Paddington Station from the early 1960s to the late 1980s, sometimes told me (in the 1980s), when Rowland was in the news, that she remembered him as a young man working as a porter at Paddington.
My old friend did not, I think, mean to lie, but she was mistaken, and had to be. If and when Rowland was briefly a station porter, it would have been around 1939 or 1940.
The lady I knew would have been still in her teens then, having been born in 1926. She had been born in East Prussia (on her family’s vast estate, or one of them), had attended the Sacre Coeur convent school in Paris for a year just before the Second World War, but was then a kind of hostage under NKVD control in the Soviet Union for 3 years, at first in a prison on a river island on the Kazakhstan-Russia border, then working briefly on a state farm before becoming a student-nurse. When she escaped from the Soviet Union in 1942, she was just 16. She was in Persia, and then British East Africa. She first visited London sometime in the late 1940s, but not for long.
In other words, my old friend could never have seen Rowland as a porter (assuming he ever was one), Rowland having been working in business in the City of London during the early/mid 1940s and then, from 1948, in the then Southern Rhodesia (the later Rhodesia and then Zimbabwe).
We often see false memory, not least in (mainly Jewish) recollections of life in Germany and Poland during the so-called “holocaust” years of the early/mid 1940s. It is often hard to say which of the hundreds, indeed thousands, of accounts are simply misremembrances and which are outright frauds, but both are very common.
…and that has been only about 5% of the full migration-invasion figure…

I would urge anyone arrested, and (unlike that lady) charged with anything effectively “political”, to plead Not Guilty.
Force the System to attempt to prove the case, and force the politicized police and “Clown” Prosecution to spend time and resources on the matter, and so (in terms of time) “kick the can down the road”.
If you do that, the System drones may have to drop the case (in the case reported on, of course, it never got that far; she was never charged). If you plead Not Guilty, the case may only be tried after many months (and if heard in Crown Court, maybe even a couple of years).
True, if convicted after a trial, you may get a sentence notionally more severe than had you pleaded (Guilty) to the charge, but these politicized cases are now being treated absurdly and unfairly harshly anyway. As far as Crown Court cases are concerned, we have seen people sentenced to years of imprisonment for doing really not very much, while real (non-political) criminals are often getting very lenient punishment.
I am not so sure that, from the perspective of a “political” “criminal”, there is much difference between getting, say, 15 months in prison on a Not Guilty plea then resulting in conviction after a trial, and 10 months on a Guilty plea.
The “political” convict, often someone of previous good character, or at least “not so bad” character, ends up in prison anyway in the current climate, either way.
In terms of time, too, a 15 month sentence might translate to 6 months actually incarcerated (40% of 15 months), as compared to 4 months after a Guilty plea and a sentence of 10 months. Still extra time, of course.
There is also the point that a Not Guilty plea might pay off in terms of you, as defendant, being found Not Guilty on technical grounds by a magistrate/District Judge or on a (Crown Court) Judge’s direction. Or you might be found Not Guilty by a magistrate, or a Crown Court jury.
There is also the possibility that something may happen during the trial, esp. if in the Crown Court, to render the trial ineffective.
In cases where imprisonment is never likely to happen, there may be little difference between being found guilty after a trial and pleading Not Guilty ab initio.
In my own case, related here below, I would never have pleaded Guilty under any circumstances anyway. As it was, I very nearly got off on technical grounds at “half time” (at the close of the Prosecution case).
My trial continued, however, and I was pronounced guilty by the District Judge, though on slightly confused (in my opinion) grounds.
My sentence was firstly to pay the purely notional costs of the trial and also to pay a “victim surcharge” (just another impost), the two together adding up to £734. Secondly, I was to complete 15 “rehabilitation days” under the supervision of the Probation Service.
Of course, the Jew-Zionists of the “Campaign Against Antisemitism” [“CAA”], who had procured the case against me by suborning the police and CPS in my county of residence, and who pressured the CPS politically, and quite improperly, to prosecute me, were livid at the perceived “leniency” of the sentence, so much so that it took them days, in fact I believe 2-3 weeks, to respond on Twitter/X and their own website. I can just imagine them fuming and arguing about it.
Well, a few generous donors who read the blog sent just over a third of the financial penalty monies, via a crowdfunder I established; the rest I paid off (I still have one small-ish payment left to pay) on a monthly basis. Irritating but not too onerous.
As to the “15 rehabilitation days”, it turned out that each “day” was a meeting with the Probation Service, the meetings as short as 20 minutes in a couple of cases (though 3 or 4 such meetings did for some reason not count toward the 15).
There was no “rehabilitation day” as long as an actual day, or even half a day.
Until a few weeks ago, I thought that I had only done about 3 or 4 actual “rehabilitation days” (meetings) counting towards the 15. However, I was then told that, by reason of larger-scale events not connected with me personally, my “days” were finished and I would be (as I have now been) deemed to have completed the “15” days to which I was sentenced.
So there it is. The politicized police (our new poundshop Stasi) and the politicized CPS, apparently spent hundreds of hours, maybe even thousands of hours, “trawling through” (as the CPS put it) hundreds of blog posts. The costs in terms of police and CPS time must have been large. The CPS instructed outside Counsel to prosecute. That barrister made several appearance prior to trial, at trial, and after trial, when (briefed again by, shall we say, “the fat lady” singing) he made a doomed attempt both to restrict my freedom to blog and to make the sentence more severe (only to find that the sentencing judge agreed with me).
All that money and effort, taking well over a year by the end, not to mention Court time, and the only result was that I had to pay out a few hundred pounds and meet a (rather polite and charming) young Probation Service lady about 7 or 8 times.
Further to the above, of course a defendant can appeal a Guilty verdict. In my case, it was expedient not to do so, though I considered that I had a 50-50 chance of success.
I was never arrested, incidentally, just charged by postal requisition, and was on unconditional bail throughout the proceedings in court.
Naturally, I should never have been bothered by the police, let alone charged or prosecuted.
A fortiori, I should never have been convicted or sentenced, but there it is.
My own perception of my trial and sentence, and the aftermath:
The labour leadership is showing itself to have extremely left wing or fascist tendencies in power. They must be removed from office at the earliest opportunity which means in about 4 or 5 years time. Imagine how far they will force the country to move towards 1984 in that time.
There is more than one way of removing a dictatorial regime.

Not someone in whom I take a great interest, and I only knew of her existence from a relatively few years ago, as far as I can recall. However, she (meaning her life) seems to me to personify certain aspects of what is wrong with this country.
The odd life and downward progress of Katie Price also somewhat reminds me of a far more literate, though I think not very nice person, Jeffrey Bernard, who was once described as “having made a career from writing about dying from cirrhosis“. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeffrey_Bernard.
Bernard’s Spectator column could be, sometimes, brilliantly funny. More often, it was simply absent, with what became the standard apologia, “Jeffrey Bernard is unwell“, below a substituted piece by someone else.
Incidentally, I once had a copy of the book about him, Just the One (referring to his habit of saying —usually inaccurately— that he had popped into a pub for one drink only). Really funny, though sad too in places.
It becomes ever more obvious that nothing much works properly in the UK, from the prison service to the NHS to the legal system to…well, you name it.
This is really damning. As Leader of the Opposition Starmer took the knee for BLM two days *AFTER* the BLM riot that injured 27 police officers. Talk about #TwoTierKeirhttps://t.co/i3R970BgW6
Great thread. I hadn't realised senior police had a documentary exposing Pakistani-heritage grooming gangs pulled many years ago because they thought it could have led to a backlash from white residents. Sounds pretty two-tier to me. 🔽 https://t.co/9iitb4zD6d
Good grief. That is, apparently, “a senior police officer“…
Britain in 2024…
It all raises questions for policing but also for the mainstream media, political elites and "stakeholders". How many girls might have been saved if this 2004 exposé of grooming gangs hadn't been deliberately ignored due to "far-right"? 👇 #TwoTierBritainhttps://t.co/mEWQry0LnA
Look at recent Sky News and BBC News coverage. Almost like TV news in the old Soviet Union or DDR (East Germany).
“Shadows on the wall of the cave”…
During the Harehills riots the lady offered the police tea & ice lollies. She was then arrested for saying 16 years of immigration had ruined the area.
She describes the dehumanisation of her overnight custody.
As in Stalin’s Soviet Union— people arrested who are genuinely puzzled as to why, saying “why am I here?“, or “I haven’t done anything“, or “what have I done?“
To combat this, retweet the crap out of everything, flood the playing field, make the job of the the thought police an impossible game of whack a mole.
That little Director of Public Prosecutions bastard is a typical police-state drone bureaucrat.
Beyond Orwellian. Simply astonishing. I respect open dictatorships a lot more than the "caress" dictatorships that we now see throughout the West. The former own their autocratic reflex; the latter gang rape you whilst whispering sweet-nothings in your ear. https://t.co/B41WBEmtfc
What happens, and what has happened in history, when every form of peaceful socio-political protest, criticism, or even analysis, is shut down? As people say, “answers on a postcard…”
Reminder the assistant commissioner of the Met would have joined a movement whose goal was to dismantle the police. https://t.co/qbbA13KyBd
Incidentally, many will know of that Basu bastard (now only a former policeman), who is sometimes quoted on TV or in the lying Press as an “expert” on “extremism”, “terrorism” etc, and who, risibly, was apparently the UK’s chief of (police) counter-intelligence. He is often spouting nonsense about how almost everything “far right” etc must be repressed. Another supporter of the upcoming (unless stopped) multikulti “woke” police state.
See also my piece from about 6 years ago about the tendency to a police state in the UK, that even then was coming out into the open:
Quite. Out of every 20 eligible voters, 8 did not vote. Of the 12 that did, 4 voted Labour, 3 Conservative, 2 Reform UK, 2 LibDem, and 1 Green.
The regime of “two-tier Keir” has no legitimacy, no mandate. If the courts and general legal and justice system are not exercizing their proper independence, but are simply obeying the purported diktats of “two-tier Keir” and that bureaucrat-drone who seems to be the new Director of Public Prosecutions, then the courts themselves have no legitimacy.
Good grief. One of the most disturbing things I have ever heard from an MP. Wes Streeting actually detailing how he would push a leading journalist under a train. Was there ever a police investigation? @EssexPoliceUKhttps://t.co/ja8pbvO5Tn
Were I to argue that Wes Streeting (or Starmer, or Yvette Cooper, or other Labour Friends of Israel puppets) should be pushed in front of a train, the police would be (boringly) yet again at my door, no doubt, but once again it is that “two tier” policing…
[Update, 10 August 2024: looks like Allison Pearson may have been prevailed upon to delete her tweet].
As I wonder how many people charged and sentenced by the courts could appeal against their convictions based on what the likes of Streeting, McDonald, Rayner, Philips etc have said…
Starmer has left himself open to challenges to these…
“Two-tier Keir” Starmer is certainly confirming my view of him prior to the recent General Election, ie that he is akin to what Khrushchev said about Malenkov in his memoirs, “a file clerk type; people like that are dangerous if given power.“
Sleazy, racist Labour MP Lauren Edwards joked about William Hague's wife miscarrying their child, and that it "didn't prove he wasn't gay."

According to the malicious Jewish-Zionist organization, “Campaign Against Antisemitism” [“CAA”], which (as I said during my free speech trial last November) is effectively a volunteer arm of the Israeli Embassy in London, somewhere around 94% of the Jews in the UK consider themselves Zionists, and the vast majority of them support the Israeli attacks on Gaza. Thus says the “CAA” itself.

During the Black Lives Matter protests, left-wing commentators argued that protest, vandalism, and even violence were necessary to highlight injustice. I disagreed then, and I do now, but where are those voices today?
There IS an obvious injustice: the British working class has been maligned, slandered, ignored, fobbed off, and lied to for a generation. They can’t buy a house, their kids are in overcrowded classrooms, and they watch as illegal migrants get private accommodation for free. How is that not something to be angry about?
Our political class prioritizes everyone else’s interests over theirs. These politicians are clueless about the real struggles these young men face.
Abandoned, left to fend for themselves, and when they finally lash out, we throw away the key. It’s disgraceful. Instead of addressing the root causes of their anger, they fan the flames, and believe me, they’re not alone in their fury.“

I recall seeing the Australian TV series Skippy the Bush Kangaroo a few times after my family moved to Sydney in 1967 (I was 10 at the time). The show was on TV from early 1968.
TV shows and films such as Skippy may seem like sentimental rubbish to some people, and to some extent they may be, but there are innumerable examples of the intelligence and capabilities of our animal friends. Some such stories become famous, others are either unknown or are known only to the few people directly involved.
Interesting. I have been to Famagusta (now in Turkish-ruled Northern Cyprus), but some years ago, in fact many years ago— January 2000. I did not see the ruins of the Varosha resort, though. That is a mile south of the main town, I think.
When I drove to Famagusta (from Kyrenia), the ruins of its ancient heritage were deserted. My then girlfriend and I were alone there. There were not even any people selling postcards or the like. Even the more modern parts of the town were far from busy. That was 24 years ago, though. Things change, of course. I think that there has been quite a lot of development in some areas.
I rather liked Northern Cyprus. Relaxed and, in 2000 at least, with relatively few tourists, and really none once you left Kyrenia (officially, now, Girne). A little cold at night (in January) but warm-ish during the day, usually, and with numerous interesting ancient sites (which one shared with no other people at all) set amid orange groves. I even had a rather bracing swim off a deserted beach, but it was no colder in the water than it is in the UK in summer, and the sun was shining.
I drove one day from Kyrenia right the way down the Karpas Peninsula [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karpas_Peninsula] to the eastern end. At that point, you are only 60 miles across the Eastern Mediterranean from Latakia in Syria.
“In a straw poll of veterans, Farage’s campaign message seemed to be getting through.
Jason Stewart was in a green beret and a biker jacket studded with medals; after a long career in the Royal Marines, he “thought it was time to get out after I was blown up twice in one day in Afghanistan”.
He offers a version of an argument heard all day. “The two main parties look both the same to me,” he says. “The Tories don’t care about us. And Labour say they will reopen prosecutions of soldiers who served [in the Troubles] so that’s a no-no. Farage and Reform seem like the only option.”
Up the road, meanwhile, opposite McDonald’s, there was an alternative display of army jeeps and vehicles alongside veterans in fatigues. The display was organised by David Bye and his partner, Linda Hazelton, who run a charity delivering homemade pie and mash to needy veterans around the town. Bye had a one-to-one chat with Farage when he visited and claims he was given certain commitments, which will remain between them.
He grew up here; he remembers earning pocket money as a kid running tourist luggage down busy streets to Butlin’s. It’s been a long decline, he says, since the holiday camp went. “I thought I’d seen it all,” he says. “But the other morning I saw a long queue of blokes on bikes waiting for McDonald’s to open. They were collecting takeaways for people who couldn’t be bothered to make breakfast for their kids.
“I don’t know where you start with some of that,” he suggests. “But I think Nigel gets it.
The place holds symbolic relevance to Farage. Exactly a decade ago, under his Ukip brand, a meeting here paved the way for that party’s only Westminster election success, for Douglas Carswell. If you were to define the moment that Brexit became a possibility, and then a reality, you might begin there. Nine hundred people showed up, many of whom had not previously taken any interest in national politics. In the course of their populist pitch, Carswell and Farage quoted liberally from a Times newspaper column the previous week written by Matthew Parris.
Looking back at that column a decade on, you can see in it all the faultlines that were exposed and exploited so cynically by Farage and Brexit, the roots of the crisis that threatens to destroy the Conservative party in this election (a humiliation from which Farage, inevitably, hopes to benefit).
Parris, in his waspish style, on a visit to Clacton in 2014, had declared its irrelevance to modern Conservatism: “This is tracksuit-and-trainers Britain, tattoo-parlour Britain, all-our-yesterdays Britain,” he wrote. He asked his party a question which would now get a very different answer: “Is this where the Conservative party wants to be? [Or] do we need to be with the Britain that can admire immigrants and want them with us, that doesn’t want to spend its days buying scratchcards?”
Parris insisted that he was not “arguing that we should be careless of the needs of struggling people and places such as Clacton. But I am arguing – if I am honest – that we should be careless of their opinions.
Farage could not have scripted a better scene for himself than the spectacle of a Tory prime minister leaving the D-day celebrations early. Tragically, as this week is proving, the forces that made his bleak and divisive message relevant in 2014 have not gone away, and in the weeks to come you suspect that Westminster political parties will still ignore Clacton at their peril.”
[The Guardian].
Not once does the full article mention the fact that the person presently posing as PM is “unelected” (at least, unvalidated by a General Election) and a little Indian money-juggler; but there you are…”The Guardian”…
Interesting, though, all the same. I think that Farage has every chance of being elected at Clacton. The only reason that the Conservative Party candidate Giles Watling (MP since 2017, a long-retired actor, and a member of the Garrick Club, who lives at Frinton, the more expensive part of the constituency) got over 70% of the vote in 2019 is because his political stance is akin to that of UKIP/Brexit Party/Reform UK anyway.
Watling came second, behind ex-Conservative Douglas Carswell (for UKIP) both at the 2014 by-election and the 2015 General Election, and only won in 2017 because Carswell stood down. Having said that, Watling did get 36.7% in 2015, only about 8 points behind Carswell.
While the election at Clacton might yet be close, Farage has every chance now. Labour and other parties are spectators at Clacton. Labour’s best was 25.4% (in 2017, when the Cons got over 60%).
Interestingly, that 2017 Labour candidate, Natasha Osben, is now, in 2024, the Green Party candidate. Starmer is really not very popular even within the Labour —or recently Labour— ranks.
Will Labour voters vote tactically? If so, for Reform UK or for the Conservative Party? My money is on Reform UK.
“Alarmingly for Conservative HQ, many polling experts believe the conditions are ripe for a repeat of 1997, when tactical voting benefited Labour and the Lib Dems and cost the Tories dozens of seats, most notably the toppling of Michael Portillo in Enfield Southgate. This time, Shapps is among the big beasts who could suffer their own polling night infamy.
Tactical efforts came to little at the last election. Hopes among pro-Remain campaigners of an anti-Brexit tactical vote were dashed as Boris Johnson won an 80-strong majority. But conditions have changed. Peter Kellner, the veteran pollster, wrote in the Observer before the 1997 election that while he detected little “positive enthusiasm” for Labour, an electorate with “a burning desire to end 18 years of Tory rule” made for receptive tactical voting conditions. He believes similar ingredients are present today.
While the net effects of tactical voting are hard to calculate, the Liberal Democrats could gain 10-20 extra seats through anti-Conservative tactical voting, according to an analysis by the Electoral Calculus consultancy. Meanwhile, with the added help of Nigel Farage and Reform UK, the tactical dynamic could push Labour closer in another swathe of previously safe Tory seats.“
“Writing in the Observer, Rob Ford, a leading expert on voting intention and trends, says the evidence from polls shows that “an electoral asteroid is streaking through the atmosphere” and is heading for the Tory heartlands. Ford no longer thinks it impossible that the Conservatives could end up with less than 100 seats, so badly is their campaign misfiring and so much trust have they lost over 14 years and the tenures of five prime ministers.
Other polling experts say that such is the geographical spread of the Tory vote, and the brutal nature of the first past the post system, that once their vote drops into the low 20% region, the number of seats could fall into double digits – and could go as low as 20.“
[Observer/Guardian]
I have speculated for quite a while that the Con vote might go low enough nationwide to leave the Cons with as few as 50 MPs. Perhaps I was right (I sometimes am…).

I can’t stand Emily Thornberry. She’s Champagne Socialist delusional. She got own four properties how wealthy she is. She lives in an Islington townhouse worth roughly £2.9million and owns a £600,000 flat in Guildford. She also bought a property in Clerkenwell for £572,000.
Emily Thornberry slightly reminds me of Mrs Mossberg, a fat, short and jolly Jewish primary school teacher, usually —in my memory— dressed in a long dark-brown mink coat; I knew her circa 1962, when about 5 or 6 years old and a pupil at Caversham Primary School near Reading. Mrs Mossberg, though, was far more pleasant than Emily Thornberry seems to be.
In retrospect, I wonder why Mrs Mossberg ever bothered to be a teacher, which I doubt paid much. She lived not far from my family, a few roads away, in a large detached house. The main reception room, which I saw at least once, seemed enormous to the 5-y-o me, and it had a large grand piano in it. Maybe she just enjoyed teaching.
The last tweeter says that Emily Thornberry owns 4 properties; I thought I read 8 somewhere.

If that turns out to be correct on 4 July 2024, I will have been proven correct, and the “experts” and “specialists” (who have been saying 100-200 Con MPs left post-GE 2024) would be wrong (again)…
Also true, arguably. About the same, I should say.
Clacton is currently polling Reform at 33%, tories on 30% ans labour 25%. Everywhere else, reform are averaging about 17% with either labour or tories on over 30%
The first tweet confirms what I have been blogging re. Clacton. It is between Reform UK (Farage) and the Cons (Giles Watling). Labour has no chance at all, but Labour voters in Clacton can be the kingmakers. Their votes can swing it, either for Reform or for the Cons.
Even if the second tweet is accurate, and it may not be, voters can still give the Cons a mighty and historic kick by voting Reform UK and thus preventing the Conservative Party from thriving, or even surviving.
The very fact that such a grassroots campaign is even necessary shows how sick society has become.
