My brother went to this school in the 70s, me in the 80s. Awesome school. My son went through it late 2010s. Of the ~120 students in his grade he was the only white kid. 95% south Asian. The principal would be on SBS banging on about how much diversity there was in the school.
Not at all like the Sydney (Mosman and Cremorne) I recall from my years aged 10-13 (1967/1968/1969). The schools I attended (Middle Harbour P.S. and North Sydney Boys’ High) had no ethnic minorities (except one Aboriginal girl at Middle Harbour, sent there as part of a government programme).

I watched on TV a few minutes of the Remembrance Sunday march of old soldiers past the Cenotaph in Whitehall.
Naturally, such an occasion is always tinged with sadness. So many failed to return, especially from the First World War. My own maternal grandmother had two brothers killed in that war (both captains in the Berks and Bucks Light Infantry); one killed in France in, I believe, 1915, the other on the Somme in 1916.
Of course, there would now be no WW1-serving soldiers on that march, and few, if any, from WW2.
I paused to wonder what might be the views of those marching about the state of the country today. At a guess, not favourable.
My overall feeling, watching the still-proud ranks marching, was that the march has really nothing to do with the UK and its society today. It might as well have been ranks of Roman legionaries marching there. The same goes for so many other ceremonies and institutions which, until quite recently, say 35 years ago, were an accepted part of the national fabric.

Reform may end up with 450 MPs, it may end up with “only” 250, or even fewer; we shall have to see. I think that the “Conservatives” will slip lower as their natural hard core of elderly and very elderly pensioners start to pass away. Labour is also doomed, unless Starmer-stein is replaced by some figure able to appeal to a cross-section of voters.
At present, I see no sign of that. At one time I thought that Dan Jarvis might be a superficially-credible such figure, but his several years of toeing the Labour Party line, kow-towing to the Jewish/Israel lobby, and having nothing worthwhile to say about anything, have diminished him, visibly. No chance.
The present polling takes no account of either the Islamist independents or of Corbyn’s nascent “Your Party”.
I just fed my own speculations into Electoral Calculus, and came up with Reform 444 MPs, Lab 68, LibDems 50, SNP 40, Greens 15, and Cons…1 (etc). If “Your Party” were to get 5-10 MPs, then Labour would be reduced by the same amount accordingly.

I still regret having missed the (apparently excellent) talk given by John le Carre (David Cornwell), the author of Tinker Tailor and similar books, at the G.B.-U.S.S.R. Association offices and library circa 1984. I joined mainly in order to use their library of Russian and English books, the windows of which library, a few floors up from ground level, overlooked the gardens of Buckingham Palace. I also took part in basic Russian language sessions.
That organization no longer exists. It was renamed in the early 1990s, moved to a ghastly brown-coloured office building near the (also now gone, and redeveloped) Nine Elms vegetable market at Vauxhall, then closed down as a result, in part, of government spending cuts (circa 1996).

I should be interested to know the composition of the jury. Naturally, the people who lived on country estates were best-placed to weather rationing. Game birds, and fish, were unrationed, and people living on a country estate would have ready access to eggs and other foodstuffs (and of course could grow fruits and vegetables in kitchen gardens or fields). Such people would also often have extensive wine cellars, so would have been able to drink French (and German!) wines bought before 1940.
I recall that the Cornish country house of which I had a lease (about 22 or so years ago) had quite large wine cellars (unstocked when I was there) which brought to mind the horror film adaptations of the works of Edgar Allan Poe:

I happened to visit a Tesco supermarket about 6 miles from my home. While using the cash point, I saw two large banners advertising the supermarket. Both showed the same two blacks, a “grandfather” and “grand-daughter”.

That translates to a Commons with about 401 Reform MPs (fairly massive majority), 71 Labour, 56 LibDems, 45 SNP, 27 Cons, 14 Greens (etc).
Does anyone really imagine that the domestic political situation will suddenly change, and that Lab or Con will suddenly rise up again? I doubt it, and I doubt that that will happen. Indeed, after the Budget of “Rachel from Accounts and Customer Relations” Reeves, there is every chance that Labour will sink lower in the opinion polls. The once-great Conservative Party, meanwhile, is a not very interesting irrelevance. Its one strong card is the pensioner vote, but many of “a certain age” (not only 66+ but —I should say— 55+) look upon this country and despair…and blame both of the main “old parties” for what has happened and for what is continuing to happen.
There is also the point that, by 2029, many of the 2024 Con voters will have reached the end of their lives. They will not be voting.
Reform is underwhelming, but is the only game in town (in England) that is not Lib, Lab, or Con, that has a chance at all, and that is not basically a more-or-less pro-Muslim offshoot of Labour (Corbyn’s “Your Party”, and Galloway’s “Workers’ Party”).
It is an open question how many MPs might be gained by the two small offshoots of Labour, and by the Greens. Perhaps a total of, in the region of, 20 or 30. Not more, as far as I can see.
So far, Corbyn’s “Your Party” has not appeared in opinion polling. It may eventually get 2 or 3 MPs, it may get 10 or more. Hard to say. Of course, anyone voting “Your Party” would otherwise vote Labour or Green; the Reform ascendancy will not be affected.
However, Reform’s time in the sun may be very limited, should it reach government. Tice and Farage (and Matt Goodwin) are almost ludicrously pro-Jewish lobby and pro-Israel, and that may help them into government by limiting the msm opposition to them. However, in government it would be a very limiting factor, in my view.
Likewise, Tice, the likely Chancellor, has refused to rule out dumping the Triple Lock on State pensions. If the Triple Lock goes, so does about 3/4 of the Reform vote. A Reform government might well be a one-term government.
Then there is migration invasion. Reform has pledged to remove some “illegal” immigrants, “small boat” invaders (or some of them) etc, but that will not touch most non-Europeans in the UK; certainly not those born here, and not those here “legally”. That makes Reform almost a waste of space even if they could remove the hundreds of thousands of “illegals”.
Out of a Reform government, though, as an offshoot, might grow something better.
Incidentally, I see quite a few tweets from anti-Reform tweeters all saying about how tactical voting can prevent Reform getting seats, as at Caerphilly. Not very convincing.
The Plaid candidate was also a strong one, with roots in the area going back half a century.
In most English constituencies, there is no one obvious alternative to Reform or the main System parties. In 50-100, the LibDems would be the beneficiaries of tactical voting and, to some extent, already are. That is unlikely to be the case in most.
If Reform can get even 250 seats, far less than a Commons majority, it will still cripple the main parties. Give the LibDems 100, and all the other parties will have to split the 300 remaining. Lab and Con might split between them about 200 or so.

I happened to be in a large NHS hospital recently a couple of times (not as patient). Dystopian. Car parking near-impossible to navigate and also very expensive.
The hospital itself was a giant rabbit warren, expanded several times over the decades, and with yet more building going on, but without even a basic reception or information desk (despite the huge size of the complex), and no-one working there had much idea even where any particular unit was, or how to get there. Signage terrible.
Endless corridors filled with mostly non-European staff (in uniform) and masses of very poor-looking, drably-dressed English people, presumably mostly visitors. A vision of a kind of hell, in short.

I was once a great supporter of the NHS (and the BBC, for that matter). I have not changed, they have, and indeed have become utterly useless much of the time. Said more in sorrow than in anger; both, really.

I happened to be watching a recorded episode of Celebrity Chase quiz show. I only recognized two of the four “celebrities”, one of which was the unpleasant, and at one time more famous, Janet Street-Porter. One thought that occurred to me is that the attackers numbered 2 (it seems); the victims numbered at least 20, of which 10 have been either killed or injured. Naturally, ordinary civilians are not trained, or equipped psychologically, to do that (act in concert, stand their ground, defend themselves, adapt ordinary items as weapons). Interesting. The fact is that a “degree” is now scarcely worth anything, now that a. about half the under-40 population has one, and b. award inflation has devalued degrees at all award-levels. So many supposed Firsts are now awarded that that has become the norm. However, the graduates with Firsts are now on a real-world knowledge-level with 1960s to 1980s graduates who only scored 2:2 (lower-second) degrees, which were the norm until the 1990s.
As a matter of fact, it is interesting to note that the salary of an airline pilot in the UK can be (depending on airline etc) as low as £30,000 p.a. for an entry-level pilot with a regional UK airline, though more experienced pilots at such an airline or on short-haul international flights can get to £70,000 and more, and experienced pilots at Captain level at a major airline and flying long-haul might be on anything between £100,000 and £150,000, with some making as much as £200,000.
Now the salary of a train driver is actually about the same as an airline pilot at entry-level, and can reach £80,000 for some, depending on a number of factors such as overtime worked, but few if any can get higher than that.

I was just watching an episode, I think 5 years or so old, of The Chase. A question was asked re. which Prime Minister was “put into Room 101“, (the UK TV show) by Jeremy Clarkson. A choice of three, which the contestant answered, correctly, as having been David Cameron. The Chaser, “the Vixen”, Jenny Ryan, also answered correctly. However, presenter Bradley Walsh said, en passant, “I’d have gone Chamberlain”, and the “Vixen” said “I’m with you there“.
What they were really saying is that Chamberlain was rubbish because he tried to avert the disastrous war against the German Reich.
