I have actually been inside Wandsworth Prison, sometime around 1994, though only as an official legal visitor (barrister), there to consult with a lay client who was an abscondee or deserter from the Angolan Security Service. I was escorted inside the prison by a polite older type of prison officer (guard). There was discussion about the nice flower beds there. In other words, my experience was very different from that of a prisoner or, indeed, a family member visiting an inmate.
Inside, my conference took place in a rather odd room with pipes along the ceiling and walls, all painted a kind of depressing Victorian pale green. As I went in, I could see, not too far away, what looked like prisoners walking round in a large circle, some wearing civilian clothes, so presumably on remand awaiting trial. Though not smelly, the prison interior exuded a kind of slightly unclean ambience; hard to describe. As if it all needed a thorough clean.
That was over 30 years ago. Looks as though the prison, along with others, has since descended into chaos.

Well, the by-election is to be held the day after tomorrow, Thursday 1 May 2025. The chance for the voters of that area to make British political history. At present, Reform and Labour are neck-and-neck, according to the opinion polls. I have already blogged that I think that Reform can smash it, but that depends on all Reform-leaning voters getting out and voting, if they have not already done so by postal ballot. As for 2024 General Election Con voters, the Conservative Party candidate has no chance at all at the by-election (and got only 16% last year); so to stick it to Labour, vote Reform.
Any 2024 Labour voters wanting to send a message to Starmer-stein can either vote Reform (or, failing that, at least for some other party that is standing a candidate) or simply abstain.
If Reform can win the by-election, then both Labour and Con are doomed; if Labour manage to hang on, that too says that Labour is doomed, because Runcorn and Helsby was the 16th most-Labour seat as recently as July last year. A mere Labour win, unconvincing, would say that most of the country hates Starmer-stein and his fake Labour-label.

I agree with tweeter “@CambrayXX”. Who are the Labour Party supporters in these polls? I think that the answer is that the UK is now about 20% non-white. Labour Party support is running at about 25%. Most blacks and browns (and other non-Brits) vote Labour.
By my reckoning, and using Electoral Calculus, those figures would give Reform 271 MPs, Labour 176, LibDems 69, Cons 68. Enough of the surviving Con MPs would defect to Reform, or make an accommodation, to give Reform a working majority.
Hard to understand why any white English/Welsh/Scottish person would vote Labour-label now. The policies are indistinguishable from those pursued by “Conservatives” David Cameron-Levita and George Osborne from 2010-2015.

I live very close to a small southern Hampshire coastal town, reputedly one of the most affluent in the UK. The reasons for this latest injustice are, of course, obvious.

The lady sentenced to an incredibly harsh 31 months for an understandable (if unwise) tweet or whatever is not a member of that “club”. She is “just” a wife and (to use the very good American word) homemaker. A normal citizen, in short.
The System protects its own, such as Huw Edwards; ordinary citizens are treated like trash.
Secondly, Huw Edwards was guilty of a non-political offence. In the new sub-Stalinist Britain, socio-political “crimes” such as posting the “wrong sort of” tweet, or criticizing the Jewish lobby, or the migration invasion, are treated far more harshly than “real” crimes, non-political crimes.
Lucy Connolly has been treated harshly because of, and, in my opinion only because of, those two factors.
There was no evidence that any of the actual protesters or “rioters” were influenced by, or even saw, her tweet and/or her WhatsApp message (though that need not be proven to make out the offence). Still, those facts should surely mitigate sentence.
I have two or three further thoughts about the matter: firstly, that her husband or someone else should set up a GoFundMe or other crowdfunder for her; secondly, that she should have pleaded Not Guilty. She may well have been lucky in her jury.
It might also be worth her while to consider an appeal on sentence (alone).
As it is, 40% of 31 months translates to about 12 months and 1 week actually in prison. I believe that I read at the time of her arraignment that she was remanded in custody prior to sentence. That was sometime in August of this year, so she has already been in prison for —I think— over 2 months. That should mean that she can expect release within about 10 months. Still very harsh, in my view.
The sentencing judge (a Recorder, i.e. p/t judge, and barrister) apparently made the ridiculous remark today that “It is [a/the] strength of our society that it is both diverse and inclusive.” Does he really and honestly believe that?!
So another person has received a harsher yet sentence for merely having reposted part of one of Mrs. Connolly’s messages.
I have to say that Mrs. Connolly’s husband does not strike me as being or having been particularly outspoken in her defence, but I suppose that I could be mistaken about him. I should not like to think that his reserved response has anything to do with his pathetic local Conservative Party activity.

I was not familiar with the facts of the case until (just now) reading the above link, but if the defendant did actually nothing, neither by deed nor by word (of incitement, though he did say things of an insulting and profane character), then how could any judge, properly directing himself, either find the defendant guilty (even on a plea of guilty, which may have been procured by fear of a heavier sentence yet) or hand down any custodial sentence?
I see now, in the Daily Telegraph report, that the defendant did in fact push at a police riot shield, though once only.
The judge was fair enough to have gone into recess at the trial, until further video evidence was screened.

The UK should have cut itself adrift from EU rules and laws and policies, kept or “nationalized” those that made sense, jettisoned the rest, then joined with Russia in a special trading relationship— the UK stands aside from active participation in NATO and, in return, gets free or cheap oil and gas from Russia.

The Bakhmut/Artyomovsk battle has become a trial of strength extremely important for the morale of both sides.
All the same, if Russian forces lose out, Russia can still step up its war operations generally in Ukraine with more destructive methods yet, in theory right the way up to nuclear ICBMs. Ukraine or Kiev-regime commanders cannot; they have no such weapons. The most for which they can hope is relatively few high-grade Western weapons such as fighter aircraft and Abrams tanks, the capabilities of which latter are phenomenal— what would Rommel or Guderian not have given for such tanks in the early/mid 1940s?

Since the loss of Soledar and the high ground around Bakhmut, Ukrainian casualties are almost 1:1 with Russian casualties. Feeding units into fixed positions around the city has led to heavy Ukr losses. The political/symbolic decision to hold Bakhmut is overriding military sense.

The aim of the Kiev regime here (as also with much of the UK/US “reportage”, if it can be called that), is to dehumanize the Russian soldiers. We see little or nothing from the Russian side of the conflict in the msm; even on Twitter etc, the Kiev-regime has “played a blinder” in propaganda terms compared to the stolid offerings of the Russian Foreign Ministry and the unsophisticated social media output of individual Russian tweeters.
One notes that (up to ministerial level, i.e. tweets by government ministers) the Kiev regime notes not only the damage done to civilians (by Russians, never by pro-Kiev Ukrainians), and also tweets about abandoned or rescued cats and dogs. The aim is obviously to capture the hearts of Western readers (the tweets have English subtitles).
I am 100% in favour of the cats and dogs, and indeed those helping them, as far as that goes, but there are probably as many doing that on the Russian side (in Donetsk etc); we never hear or see anything about that.
As I say, the Kiev-regime side is far more sophisticated in terms of propaganda aimed at the West (even/especially when appearing to be artless) than the Russian side.
Compare the cultural history of Russia and Ukraine. For whatever reason, Russia has a far more complex and rich cultural background than Ukraine: music, literature, philosophy etc. Yet the Russians are, supposedly, the “orcs“…

If Russian forces can complete the encirclement of Bakhmut/Artyomovsk, they may capture thousands of Kiev-regime troops; even if the latter escape encirclement, they would be all but spent, and would have to slowly straggle northward. Whether the Russian forces could then make a big advance is, however, an open question.

The satirical singer-songwriter, Alison Chabloz, is still under attack from the Jew-Zionist element. The latest news is that she will be on trial at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 26 October 2020. Her application to dismiss the charge(s) on strict legal grounds will then be heard, presumably as a preliminary matter.
There is a strict limit on what I, even as uninvolved observer, can say at this time, the matter being quite shortly before the court, but I shall keep readers of this blog informed as to any developments of which I become aware.
I happened to have to visit the small local hospital (not as patient) yesterday. As on another recent visit, the place was almost deserted. Patients all have to book appointments, that hospital has no A&E department, and no visitors are allowed (with the exception of a few like me). I was briefly seated in a waiting area with two muzzled ladies, one very old, the other maybe 70.
The very old lady started to talk about how terrible the “virus” situation was, and how it was “worse than the War“, that old chestnut. Well, she was about 80-90, so would have been either a baby or a small child, at most about 10-15, during that huge and unnecessary conflict. Anyway, she then droned on until I tentatively suggested that there are 8 thousand million people on the Earth, and 1 million have (supposedly) died from “the virus”. The old lady seemed bemused until I elucidated: one “virus” death out of every 8,000 people. Even then, I am not sure that she quite understood how few people have died worldwide from the virus, though she nodded, but the other lady then interjected, “I think that there is a lot of hysteria about all this“… Then I was summoned by a nurse, so the conversation ended there.
Anecdotal, and statistically meaningless. No argument about that. Still, when you see various people masked and quiet, you might think that all accept the System’s narrative. In reality, there may be many dissidents hiding behind those facemasks.
As for the “advisers” such as Professors Whitty, Ferguson etc, Stalin would already have had them shot. Here in the UK, we do not usually take such sanguinary measures, but those turbulent scientists should at the least be put back in their box.
So far, in 7-8 months, a total of 127 people under 40 have died from or with “the virus” in the UK. Out of 70 million people…The average age of death from/with “the virus” is 82.
