That woman, Fiona-Natasha Syms, is the ex-wife of the former (until 2024) Conservative MP for Poole. Despite, in the past, having been generally pro-Israel, pro-Jew etc, she found that, when she expressed her horror at the mass slaughter of tens of thousands of Palestinian Arab civilians, the majority women and children, in Gaza, and the injury and mutilation of hundreds of thousands of others, her UK-resident Jewish “friends” all turned against her.

For centuries, historical figures served as cultural signposts, reminders of the history, struggles and achievements that shaped the nation and its people.
Remove those signposts, and something subtle but important begins to change.
The past becomes distant. Then contested. And then disposable.
Gradually, the story of a nation — its triumphs, failures, and defining moments — is hollowed out.
In its place emerges a new idea of national identity that is deliberately thin: one that defines Britain not through its history or traditions but through the abstract celebration of diversity itself.
In other words, the only thing that is meant to define us is that we have no defining identity at all.
The endpoint of this cultural project is not inclusion but historical amnesia, or cultural erasure.
A society that is detached from its past, uncertain of its traditions, and unsure of what binds it together.
This is what Sir Roger Scruton meant when he wrote: “A society that loses its memory loses its identity.”
And that loss happens gradually, through thousands of seemingly small decisions — a statue removed here, a curriculum altered there, a historical figure quietly replaced on a banknote.
Each individual change may appear insignificant.
But taken together they represent something far more profound: the slow disconnection of a people from their own history and collective memory.
A people who no longer really know who “we” are.
I doubt the bureaucrats who made this decision at the Bank of England fully grasp the cultural significance of what they are doing.
But intention is not the point. The effect is what matters.
When we remove the symbols of our past, we further weaken the very foundations of our identity.
Or Orwell warned: “The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history.”
This is what is happening and accelerating around us.
This is what Furedi meant by the “War Against Our Past”.
And this is why it really matters.

All good points. When I was still a barrister, I occasionally, only very occasionally, had cases of that sort, despite not being at all a criminal specialist.
Incidentally, regular readers will know that I was both wrongfully and unlawfully disbarred in 2016, long after I had ceased practice, and by reason of a conspiracy by connected packs of Jews, particularly the so-called “Campaign Against Antisemitism” or “CAA”, and “UK Lawyers for Israel” [“UKLFI”].
For example, a case where a lady (married, young children, living in a private house in a close) was arrested in front of her children at about 0700 hrs because someone in the same little street thought that she might have thrown a stone 2 days previously that might have caused a scratch on the car of the complainant.
No evidence was ever adduced as to whether that car even had a scratch in the first place (it seems not); neither was there any evidence at all that anyone, let alone the lady in question, had thrown anything at all at any car. There was a complete lack of evidence not only as to whether the lady had committed a crime, but even as to whether any crime had actually been committed. There was no evidence, as noted, as to the car having been damaged at all, by any event or action.
Despite all that, Devon and Cornwall police woodentops actually arrested the lady (who, by the way, had no previous convictions), took her to the police station at Exeter, and held her there for 4 hours. She was never interviewed, and was eventually released without charge, left to find her own way back home. Her workplace was not informed of her arrest, and her young daughters had to find their own way to school.
The police these days often, indeed usually, do not do their proper job at all, but then they go completely over the top, especially if they can persuade themselves that “far right” “extremism” (“oooh!“) is involved.

Ah. Interesting. Looks as though the numbers of alleged victims have been edited down. I thought that the Jews/Israelis were still claiming that about 1,000, or even 1,500, had been killed. I live very close to a small southern Hampshire coastal town, reputedly one of the most affluent in the UK. The reasons for this latest injustice are, of course, obvious.
Firstly, Huw Edwards is a member of the System msm/political/talking head/scribbler club. Pro-migration invasion, pro-multikulti, pro-System, pro-Israel (probably), pro-Jew-lobby (almost certainly), pro-LGBTXYZ, pro-“trans” nonsense, and so on.
The lady sentenced to an incredibly harsh 31 months for an understandable (if unwise) tweet or whatever is not a member of that “club”. She is “just” a wife and (to use the very good American word) homemaker. A normal citizen, in short.
The System protects its own, such as Huw Edwards; ordinary citizens are treated like trash.
Secondly, Huw Edwards was guilty of a non-political offence. In the new sub-Stalinist Britain, socio-political “crimes” such as posting the “wrong sort of” tweet, or criticizing the Jewish lobby, or the migration invasion, are treated far more harshly than “real” crimes, non-political crimes.
Lucy Connolly has been treated harshly because of, and, in my opinion only because of, those two factors.
There was no evidence that any of the actual protesters or “rioters” were influenced by, or even saw, her tweet and/or her WhatsApp message (though that need not be proven to make out the offence). Still, those facts should surely mitigate sentence.
I have two or three further thoughts about the matter: firstly, that her husband or someone else should set up a GoFundMe or other crowdfunder for her; secondly, that she should have pleaded Not Guilty. She may well have been lucky in her jury.
It might also be worth her while to consider an appeal on sentence (alone).
As it is, 40% of 31 months translates to about 12 months and 1 week actually in prison. I believe that I read at the time of her arraignment that she was remanded in custody prior to sentence. That was sometime in August of this year, so she has already been in prison for —I think— over 2 months. That should mean that she can expect release within about 10 months. Still very harsh, in my view.
The sentencing judge (a Recorder, i.e. p/t judge, and barrister) apparently made the ridiculous remark today that “It is [a/the] strength of our society that it is both diverse and inclusive.” Does he really and honestly believe that?!
So another person has received a harsher yet sentence for merely having reposted part of one of Mrs. Connolly’s messages.
I have to say that Mrs. Connolly’s husband does not strike me as being or having been particularly outspoken in her defence, but I suppose that I could be mistaken about him. I should not like to think that his reserved response has anything to do with his pathetic local Conservative Party activity.

If the UK were to stop its support for the Jewish regime of Zelensky in Kiev and —even more— were the UK to pull back support for what NATO has become (NWO/ZOG), Russia would then supply gas to the UK, to us, at cost price. A proven expenses overclaimer, who also “employs” his wife via his MP expenses (she gets £30,000 a year for a part-time job, assuming that she does anything at all), he is a farmer of some kind, meaning that he inherited land and has been getting farming subsidies for that (for decades)..
The sort of nonsense that the ironically misnamed Goodwill is spouting (i.e. that the poor are only unable to live decently because they smoke, drink, buy takeaway food or the wrong kind of food, or otherwise waste money) has been around for a long time. It predates even Victorian ideology, and Orwell examined it in one or two of his 1930s essays.
Having said that, there is a grain of truth in that narrative about smoking, drinking, being unskilled in cooking etc, but —as Orwell noted— people living in poor circumstances want a little of what we might call comfort purchases .
The fact is that the cost of living has started to get out of control, a result of years of inflationary policies, some of which stem from the giveaways of Sunak during the “panicdemic”. Pay has not kept pace, State benefits even less so.

Social nationalism would not “reduce Government spending“, nor necessarily reduce taxation. As for “unrestricted freedom of speech“, that is a naive and stupidly uninformed way of putting it. Direct personal threats should be and always have been unlawful in the UK, certainly in modern history.
The issue is free speech on social, political, religious and historical topics. One should be able to speak freely about Jews, blacks etc, and about Judaism, Islam, Christianity etc, inter alia, including the now-ludicrous “holocaust” farrago.
In any case, a real social national party would do a great dealmore than the above quotation says. As was said nearly a century ago, “neither Revolution nor Reaction“.
As to this so-called “Hope not Hate” crowd, I wonder where the money comes from to fund this self-describing “anti-hate” yet entirely hateful organization with its full-time paid staff? I grow increasingly pessimistic about the international situation.
The only chance that the Kiev regime of the Jew Zelensky has to survive in power there is to continue to get more (and better) arms from the NATO bloc. That, and to provoke a wider conflict.
We see that, in the past 24 hours, a series of Ukrainian (?) attacks on Crimea (where 90%+ of the population is Russian) and on Russian territory itself.
The Russian advance has slowed to a crawl.
Putin is not going to withdraw from either Crimea or the Donbass, yet he is not in a position to deal the Kiev a knockout blow conventionally, as things stand.
Tactical nuclear weapons offer the Russian side a potential edge. The Ukrainians have none. A very horrific possibility, because it might mean large urban areas being destroyed, with all the pain and hurt that would entail. In such a scenario, NATO might take the opportunity to assist the Kiev side directly.
Who was “to blame” for WW2? To say “Germany”, is trite and simplistic. What about WW1?
If WW3 starts out of this Ukraine situation, it might be that Russia’s finger will be on the trigger first, but that, again, is a simplistic way of looking at a complex situation.
Can it really be that we are looking at the possibility that much of civilized Europe will be destroyed for really nothing, that “nothing” being because the NWO cabals want both to encroach upon Russia, and also to support the corrupt, shambolic, failed “state” of Ukraine? Horrifying.
