Unless Starmer-stein is very lucky (and so far there is little sign of that), the “postponed” local and mayoral elections, and the eventual General Election of (?) 2028 or 2029, will see Labour stamped into the ground.

I suppose that Starmer-stein (aka “Tel Aviv Keith”) might provoke an armed conflict with Russia in the Baltic regions, and then use that to cancel or “postpone” the General Election itself (as happened during the Second World War, when there were no general elections between 1935 and 1945) [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_Kingdom_general_elections#20th_century], but such a coup d’etat would, eventually, trigger a serious uprising or revolt.

When I was about 10 years old, and a pupil at Middle Harbour School, Mosman (Sydney, Australia), we were told about a child in rural Australia whose parents were unaware that he had a tapeworm silently growing inside his body. The child was becoming very sick, but the parents did not understand the problem at first.

The tapeworm took all or virtually all of the nourishment that should have been nourishing the child, and grew huge and strong inside the child’s body as the child became increasingly weak and starved.

Eventually, though, those whose duty it was to notice such things were able to diagnose the problem. The treatment was clear— kill the tapeworm; and that was what happened. (the tapeworm was killed by a poison that did not affect the child, and was pulled out of an orifice. It turned out to be over 40 feet long).

I suppose that the parasite might have been easily prevented from taking hold at a much earlier stage, but no-one noticed. So it became a danger to the life of that child, because no-one “noticed” the root of the problem at first.

Still, all’s well that ends well. The parasite was killed, and the host returned to full health.

The moral of the tale is— notice what is happening, and then take appropriate action to remove the parasite.

Afternoon music

Historical note

On 20 July 1944, military and civilian backstabbers, with varying motives, attempted to kill Adolf Hitler, and to take up the reins of state in the German Reich.

The plotters varied both in their motives and behaviour, some principled and, at least in their own minds, patriots of a sort, others unprincipled and/or out-and-out traitors. Some exhibited courage, others cowardice.

History is not black and white; it must be open to discussion, dissent, and revision, which is one reason why the quasi-mediaeval laws banning such revision in several EU and other countries (sub nom “holocaust” “denial” laws) are so wrong.

Today is only the 19th of July, but I may not publish a blog post tomorrow; we shall see.

One of the biggest problems Australia has always had, especially since the retirement of Sir Robert Menzies [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Menzies] has been the very poor quality of its senior (and other) politicians.

Menzies, above all, supported suitable European immigration to Australia after WW2, but opposed non-European immigration, a wise dual-aspect policy that was changed by and after Gough Whitlam’s government of the 1970s. Disastrous.

I recall a prison escape by bank robbers in the 1970s, in Leicestershire. When recaptured, one of the robbers was seen to have had the s**t kicked out of him, his face black and blue. Believe it or not, he was then charged with “criminal damage to a police boot” (using his face or head)! Talk about adding insult to injury.

I have no idea whether that ludicrous charge was later dropped. Maybe. Things like that happened sometimes in the days when the police were the charging authorities, i.e. before the Crown Prosecution Service was invented (1986).

Incidentally, my own (and only) contact with the underwhelming Essex Police was in 2017, when the usual malicious “Campaign Against Antisemitism” Jew-Zionist(s) made a typically false/malicious complaint against me. It went nowhere, of course (though was inconvenient…so the bastards owe me one…not the only one, though).

Does Dale have any idea about what is happening in the country, the UK, on which he purports to comment?

Rachel Goodman, who has a similar previous conviction, was said to have ‘exploited the family’s vulnerability in the most callous way possible’ after she admitted stealing sentimental items.

The defendant avoided immediate jail time when she was sentenced at Weymouth Magistrates Court.

Goodman, 54, was employed by Louise Woollam to care for her husband Richard, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, at their home in Shillingstone, near Blandford.

A court heard how the incident had such an impact on the family that Mr Woollam, a former RAF pilot, had to be placed in a care home.

The court heard Goodman stole items such as a diamond engagement ring which belonged to Mrs Woollam’s mother, earrings brought for Mrs Woollam by her husband, sunglasses, a watch, a snorkel, bedding, a throw, money – and a 250-year-old family heirloom.

Goodman, of Eastland Road, Yeovil, has 13 previous convictions, which includes conning an elderly woman out of £3,500 and for which she received a suspended sentence.

A victim impact statement read out in court by prosecutor, Christina Norgan, on behalf of Mrs Woollam, said: “My trust and security has been completely shattered by Rachel Goodman. Alzheimer’s is a cruel disease which has already taken so much from us.

“She exploited our vulnerability in the most callous way possible. I could not go to work as I could not trust another carer in my home. I feel betrayed and broken-hearted.”

Kenny Sharp, mitigating, said: “Maximum credit for an early guilty plea. This is a person who is struggling to come to terms with the reality of what she did. Immediate custody would have a significant impact on her two children.“

The defendant was handed a 12-month custodial sentence suspended for two years. She must also complete 12 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement days and 200 hours of unpaid work.“

So Yvette Cooper, the would-be dictator, Labour Friends of Israel puppet, and expenses fraudster, currently posing as Home Secretary, will probably ban Palestine Action. Pretty silly.

For one thing, this seems to have been decided not because a couple of activists vandalized RAF planes by daubing graffiti, but because they have made the RAF, the woman “commander” of that base, SERCO (who apparently provided the outsourced and in fact non-existent “security”, no doubt at a high price), and the Government, look very very silly.

Had there been even one dozy military policeman on duty and doing his duty, the protesters could have been told to get lost, or been arrested before they got anywhere near those planes.

This was not “terrorism” but fairly standard protest of the “action directe” type. The action that makes sense would be to actually have proper security on Britain’s few remaining RAF bases, and not to label a small protest group “terrorist”; which will, in any case, only drive the situation underground, I should imagine.

In the 1930s, both the Soviet Union and National Socialist Germany allowed tourism, in the case of Germany free individual travel as well as group tours, in the Soviet Union mostly escorted and tightly-monitored group travel. When I lived in Devon and Cornwall (both, first in a large country house in Cornwall, then in a farmhouse in Devon), I would see badgers at night quite often; sometimes, on the Devon side of the Tamar, I would drive down an almost unused single-track lane at night which was a back-lane off a back-lane. Badgers would be there, unafraid of the car because they rarely saw one, and would mass ahead of the car, about ten at a time. I would have to wait until they deigned to move aside. Lovely creatures. Tourism is dead, investment is dead, trade and commerce is all but dead, and Iran still has thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of missiles, and untold numbers of drones, while Israel is running out of defensive missiles, we are told.

The damage is so bad that anyone photographing it, or posting photos online, is subject to arrest.

Horrifying. A form of infanticide or even murder, in lay terms. The deliberate killing of a completely viable foetus (which after all only means unborn baby). When you consider that it is commonplace for babies to be born days or even weeks prematurely, and then go on to thrive, this proposed law, which will obviously become law now, decriminalizes the killing of any unborn child, even if done only hours, minutes, seconds even, before actual birth, and for any reason whatsoever, so long as the expectant mother does the killing. Truly horrifying.

Not sure whether the new law will validate that, exactly, because the killing will (from what I have read, anyway) have to be by the mother to escape legal sanction.

[“Witnesses have described scenes like “a horror movie” in Gaza after Israeli forces fired towards a crowd waiting for trucks loaded with flour near Khan Younis, on one of the bloodiest days for weeks in the devastated territory.

At least 51 Palestinians were reported to have been killed and hundreds more wounded in the southern city. People at the scene and doctors described seeing injured and dead with wounds typical of those caused by artillery or tank fire. Unverified video shared on social media showed about a dozen mangled bodies lying in a street.

Multiple other incidents of violence involving crowds of desperate Palestinians trying to get food were reported on Tuesday.

The Israeli military acknowledged firing in the area of the crowd in Khan Younis and said it was looking into the incident.

The IDF said it was aware of reports of casualties “from IDF fire.”

What are the prospects for swifts?

Grim. Swift populations in Britain slumped by 66% between 1995 and 2022 and have continued a rapid downward trend. Since the last count of 59,000 breeding pairs, the population this summer is set to be just 40,000 pairs. In five years’ time there could be fewer than 25,000, unless action is taken.

A swift brick is a hollow brick that slots into the brickwork of new or old homes, providing a cavity where swifts can nest. The bricks have also been found to help other cavity-nesting birds, including the rapidly declining red-listed house martin, house sparrow and starling. Other species including blue tits, great tits, nuthatches and wrens will also nest in the bricks.

Swift bricks are made by brick manufacturers large and small, and typically cost about £35. There is a British standard for them and some developers are already fitting them to new homes.

Russia could, in theory, tell the United States that, should the US bomb Iran, Russia will bomb or rocket Israel. That would stalemate the situation, and stop the Americans from attacking Iran. I remember that winter of 1962-63. I was 6 years old, and had gone into Reading from my home in Caversham Heights (on the other side of the Thames) using the one bus, a single-decker, that serviced my home area. I cannot recall who accompanied me. Probably my grandmother, because she was the only adult family member unable to drive; unusually for that era in the UK, we were a two-car family.

As the bus returned to the nearest stop to where I lived (a couple of streets away), the driver slowed, but opened the exit door before the bus had come to a halt. It was still moving as I fell out. Luckily, I fell onto and into a large drift or pile of soft snow, and was entirely unharmed. My first lucky escape?

The general public is unaware of how much of the whole WW2 “holocaust” narrative is not even exaggerated but actually invented. The number of entirely faked “true stories” and supposed personal accounts is staggering, and well deserves the designation of being an “industry”.

A well-known example of “faction” is that of the Spielberg film, Schindler’s List, which many people believe to be an unvarnished true account of actual events. In fact, Schindler’s List was based on a novel, Schindler’s Ark, which was written by an Australian who, when the Second World War broke out in 1939, was only 4 years old.

It is uncertain how much of Schindler’s Ark (and, more so, Schindler’s List) is mere invention. A great deal, probably. Obviously, the Second World War happened, and Jews were put to work under compulsion in some parts of Europe. You could compare the book and film to other “faction” books such as The Day of the Jackal; skilful melding of fact and fiction.

I have blogged in the past, briefly, about that whole silly, sorry, business.

My views are that, while the old ex-officer was no doubt well-meaning, the whole thing was really a bit silly. He obviously believed, as did most of the population at the time (though not me), that “Covid” was some kind of existential threat to the nation (whereas it was the overall policy of “lockdowns” and other panicky measures taken that has proven so damaging to both economy and society).

Apart from that, I do find “Captain Tom” a bit of a “Captain Mainwaring”. After all, what kind of person, in the modern era, uses his military rank on a day to day basis nearly 80 years after he left the Army? Particularly when his substantive rank was Lieutenant (war-temporary Captain; he may have been gazetted substantive Captain prior to “demob” in 1946— I do not know), rather than Field Marshal, General, or Colonel.

Of course, in the 1940s, 1950s, even 1960s, there were plenty of people around who used their old war rank of, as many were, Major and, yes, even Captain, socially, or in business, but that was anachronistic even in the 1970s, fifty years ago.

“Captain Tom” never saw action, though of course that was no fault of his own; he went where ordered, and in his case that was to set up a rear-echelon training course for motorcyclists in India, later becoming an instructor in tank mechanics in Dorset. If a genuinely social-national party existed in the UK, it might well sweep all before it. Sadly, none exists.

Look at GE 2024: 8 out of 20 eligible voters did not vote. Many, perhaps most, of those might vote social-national if given the chance. Even if “only” half were to do so, the vote would equal that of the Labour Party, which was voted for by a mere 4 out of every 20 eligible voters.

I noticed when I was a starting-out pupil-barrister over 30 years ago (in London) that the vast majority of criminal defendants, in both the magistrates’ courts and (I think more so) the Crown Courts of the capital (where the more serious crimes in London are tried) were non-white, and that despite the fact that the non-white proportion of the population at the time was only about 10%-20% (indeed, the West Indian and African proportion was perhaps 5%, yet in the court system seemed to be at least half of the defendant-cadre).

When I was at the Bar, I advised and appeared on several such cases in the County Court, both in London and the provinces. Almost all, in fact all, should have settled long before they got to court, long before any barristers were instructed.

I think that I can say that I, and other counsel in the cases known to me, did our best to achieve reasonable closure, but these are cases (often involving trivial amounts of land) where reason always seems to fly out out of the window.

In many cases, all Counsel, solicitors, and the judge in the matter, understand that the matters in question should settle before enormous costs are racked up but, often, the litigants are effectively willing to risk bringing down ruin on themselves for a chance of gaining a victory over their neighbours (with whom they will have to live —nearby— afterwards, after the case ends, whichever way it goes), unless one party sells up and moves (in which event…well, you get my point).

If you told someone to remortgage his house, take out equity of £50,000, £100,000 or more, then go to Las Vegas, and stake the entire amount, maybe in one spin, on red or black at the roulette table, the houseowner would call you crazy, but that is, often, exactly what he or she —often a couple— are willing to do in taking to the County Court (in some cases to the High Court) such cases.

I remember one case I had that was about a wedge-shaped piece of land running the length of a North London suburban garden; at one end it was only about an inch or so wide and, at the other, about a foot.

What can one say? Territorial feeling can be very powerful.

Very true. As for me [b.1956], my memories of even the late 1950s are few, but those of the 1960s, and up to the present year, are many. Speaking very broadly, I should say that the dividing line between the UK of 2024 and an earlier and different UK lies, arguably, somewhen between the Thatcher election victory of 1979 and the fall of socialism in or about 1989. Maybe 1979 as far as the UK is concerned, domestically. Too much to cover here in a few paragraphs, though.
