However, the Greens are sinking, which promotes Labour and will mitigate electoral losses; Burnham’s convoluted statements seem to have slightly mollified 2024 Green voters (both the Muslims and other non-whites, and the white anti-Israel-ers).

Burnham is behaving more like a regional politician from some devolved government rather than a head of UK government.
Incidentally, about 65% of the UK population lives south of Birmingham, and about 37% of the UK population lives in the South and South-East (including London).
This needs a Betjeman to chronicle it. Instead of “a light blue carpet on the stair, and Lady Mary standing there” (probably a misquote) something involving a swimming pool, shady places, and some ice-cold vegetable okroshka.
