I have seen replies to Goodwin’s tweet, those saying that Lucy Connolly would be disqualified from standing by reason of having been sentenced to, or detained for, more than one year. That is not so. Now that she has been released, there is no legal or constitutional bar on her standing for election as an MP.
It would just be brilliant were Lucy Connolly to stand against Yvette Cooper and win. I think it would be possible. Yvette Cooper got a 47.5% vote-share in 2024, with Reform in —fairly good— second place on 29.1%. The Con candidate was well behind on 15%. However, turnout was a mere 48.2%.
Bearing in mind Yvette Cooper’s incompetent showing as Home Secretary, the fall in support for Labour, and the collapse in support for the Conservative Party, it is not implausible to guess that, at the next General Election, the result in that constituency might be to return Lucy Connolly for Reform UK with maybe 50% of the vote, Yvette Cooper for Labour getting maybe 35%, and the Con candidate 5%.
Tactical voting might well play a part. A Con vote in that constituency is a wasted vote now. Also, as said, in 2024, fewer than half of the eligible voters even voted (48.2%), indicating extreme disenchantment with both Lab and Con, the previous main contenders there (in a differently-named constituency on somewhat different boundaries).

The Second World War broke out on this day 86 years ago, when Britain and France declared war on National Socialist Germany.
The Second World War was disastrous in so many ways. The devastation of much of Europe and Russia (the latter taken as sui generis), the death and overall misery inflicted on millions of people, the advance of Stalinism into Central Europe, the destruction of the German Reich (the only European power almost free of Jewish influence and control). Then there was the economic damage across Europe. Six years of a war economy.
Beyond the above, the Second World War had consequences arguably even more disastrous. The fall of European rule, or slow abandonment of European imperial and quasi-imperial power over most of Africa, much of Asia, parts of Latin America etc. That led in turn to large-scale civil conflicts, regional wars by the newly-independent states (as with India-Pakistan), a huge increase in urbanization, enormous environmental damage, deforestation, extinction of wildlife etc.
Latterly, also the flooding of Europe with “refugees” and economic migrants from across the more backward parts of the world.
It just goes on.
Now, in 2025, 80 years after the end of that disastrous conflict, we see the possibility of a new “world war”. Siren voices in the UK, USA, France etc call for war with Russia, even with China, as well as against smaller states.
There are few “statesmen” around, certainly not in the West, but all political leaders and commentators should think twice and thrice before placing their weight on the scales in favour of war, particularly when the ostensible casus belli is the fake “state” of Kiev-regime Ukraine, a country under the control of a Jew-Zionist cabal which has banned elections indefinitely, banned opposition parties, banned trade unions, arrested or killed dissidents; the army of which is manned by ill-trained troops often abducted on the streets and forced to serve. A brutal, corrupt, and shambolic regime, ruling a “state” which did not even exist 35 years ago.
Of course, “world wars” are a misnomer. Large parts of the world were not directly affected by the Second World War while it was ongoing; the actual destruction was largely confined to parts of Europe, parts of Russia, parts of North Africa, parts of Asia. Vast areas of the world technically “at war” never saw a battle. Even in Europe, there were neutral countries which saw no actual fighting or bombing: Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Sweden.
Today, though, we are in a world overshadowed by nuclear weapons. Still, it may be that, should the worst happen, life will eventually resume. Let us hope so.
In the meantime, let us also hope that the voices calling for war are silenced.

Saw brief interview, on either Sky News or BBC News, with one Steve Smith, yesterday, interviewed from his home in rural Cornwall. Long-term and regular readers of the blog will know that I have blogged a few times about the month I spent at the oasis of Siwa in the Western Desert of Egypt in 1998 (part of three straight months I spent in Egypt that year). Siwa had slave caravans coming through from Central Africa to the Nile and Nile Delta right up until the 1940s, I think the late 1940s.
One of several unusual features about Siwa is that, at least until the late 20thC, men were not allowed to marry until aged 40, but girls were always married by their early teens. I was told that the girls now finish their schooling first (whether that means 16 or 18, probably 16).

The cousin was punched in the face, but the first male victim managed to drive everyone away leaving his Hyundai behind. When he came back to get the car, the doors had been broken and his partner’s purse containing £350 in cash and her Monzo card was stolen.
Williams-Gillett was sentenced to 18 months suspended for 20 months with 25 days rehabilitation activity requirement. He must also pay £1,700 in compensation. Bennett got 12 months suspended for 18 months with 25 days rehabilitation activity requirement. He must pay £500 compensation.”

In the early 1930s, Germany faced problems almost as bad as (in some respects, worse than) the UK in the 2020s. 💥 Update: Eddy Cantor’s barrister – Beth Grossman of Doughty Street – refuses to disclose any information and documents to Mr Cantor, even though he has waived privilege and made a subject access request.
That tweet refers to the aftermath of the libel case Wilson v. Mendelsohn, Newbon (deceased), and Cantor, which was launched by Northern academic James Wilson after a campaign of harassment by a pack of malicious Zionist Jews.
During the currency of the matter, the defendants’ Jewish solicitors (Daniel Berke of “3D Solicitors” of Manchester, and the notorious Mark Lewis of Patron Law, West London), and Counsel (Beth Grossman, of Doughty Street Chambers, London) appear in various degrees to have been incompetent and/or dishonest. The defendants’ (arguende, perjuring) Jewish/Zionist witnesses (every single one was a Jew) were simply not believed by the trial judge.
James Wilson won his case against the odds (and much dishonest Jewish chicanery) and now is actually trying to save defeated defendant Cantor from losing his house as a result of the negligence and dishonesty of Cantor’s fellow-Jews, and particularly “Mark Lewis Lawyer”.
I have to say that the successful claimant, Wilson, appears to be a great deal more forgiving than I would have been in his place. Wilson is now trying to save one of the Jews who targeted him, which Jew has been thrown to the wolves by his own Jewish lawyers and a number of other prominent Jew-Zionists who urged on the defence case against Wilson. Those other Jews, and the Jewish lawyers involved, have been trying to wash their hands of their default(s).

As for the other losing defendants in that matter, I know little about Mendelsohn. As to Newbon (a vicious pro-Israel social media troll, whose own university, Northumbria, had to discipline him repeatedly), he killed himself rather than face up to the consequences of his badness.
I suspect Ms Grossman is desperate not to disclose her response – whether it is an email or a note of a phone call – to this email from Mark Lewis.
At one time, Jews were not even allowed to become barristers in England and Wales (until the Jews Relief Act 1858 was passed, by which time the political influence bought by their money had permeated English society in the Victorian age).

Incidentally, and while I am very rusty on the current law — I ceased active practice in 2008, and was wrongly and in fact unlawfully disbarred at the instigation of a connected packs of Jews —inc., in the shadows, “Mark Lewis Lawyer”— in 2016, my understanding is that legal professional privilege is not available against a barrister’s own client. Legal professional privilege, which protects confidential communications between a lawyer and client for the purpose of legal advice or litigation, is intended to benefit the client, not to shield the lawyer from disclosure to the client.
In this case, Cantor has (Wilson says) asked his former lawyers to disclose.

It can be seen that at least one exception (Waiver) might well apply. to the Cantor/Wilson matter. Possibly “Iniquity Exception” and/or “Public Interest” as well.

Lewis has no or significant assets within the jurisdiction (England and Wales), though he is believed to own a flat in Eilat, Israel, a fact which was concealed from the Solicitors’ Disciplinary Tribunal. When Lewis was found guilty by the that Tribunal in 2018, his own (unpaid) Counsel said to the Tribunal that “Lewis has no assets except his own clothes, a used mobility scooter, and a private pension worth £70 a week”…so much for the supposed great defamation lawyer!
So Lewis can only be (effectively) sued jointly and severally with others, notably his fellow partners in the Patron Law firm. Presumably, he has professional indemnity insurance, though.
When I was a practising barrister, I had indemnity insurance, as all barristers are expected to carry. I was never sued anyway, but when I was instructed or “briefed” by a London law firm to draft contracts for the transhipment and sale of oil, my insurance had to be very radically increased, because even one shipment was worth tens of millions of U.S. dollars.

Reminiscences:temps perdu, and thoughts about mortality
When one is well over 60, as I now am (68; b. 1956), thoughts may naturally turn to mortality, life and death, and questions larger than the everyday concerns of life. That may be so when one notices that many people one has known in life are now defunct.
Some of the people I have known, or have merely met briefly or peripherally in the past, are still alive; many, however, are not. Some of those who are no longer alive have died from various natural causes (and are too numerous to list), others expired from unnatural causes (such as a Nigerian princess I knew, shot dead in Lagos in the late 1990s) or from causes or reasons unknown (such as the ex-husband of a lady I knew in the 1980s, which ex-husband apparently drowned in the Thames at London). A few, friends of friends rather than people I knew well, sadly died via suicide many years ago.
These thoughts came again to mind yesterday when I noticed information online to the effect that a former American colleague, a major-league American lawyer called Tim Scrantom, died some time ago, in 2021, apparently of a brain tumour. He was diagnosed in April 2021, and died 6 months later.

Tim Scrantom was a couple of months younger than me, a fact which sharpens my reminiscence.
I met Scrantom after a headhunter in New York suggested to him and his two main colleagues, in 2001, that I might suit his niche law firm (based in Charleston, South Carolina). I was telephoned in Turkey, where I was then resident, and we arranged to meet in London at one of my usual haunts, the Churchill Bar at the Hotel Russell in Russell Square.
I drove back to England via Greece, Bulgaria, Romania (the latter two then not EU states, and very ramshackle), Hungary (excellent country), Austria, Germany (calling in at Berchtesgaden), Luxembourg, and Belgium.
The upshot was that Scrantom and I became colleagues, he based mostly at Charleston (the office was at East Bay Street, in the conservation zone of the city), I mostly in London, though we both visited various offshore jurisdictions, once or twice in tandem, as when we went to Liechtenstein one day (well, I did; Scrantom had left his passport at the Mayfair Hotel, and only discovered that fact when we met at Heathrow, prior to flying to Zurich…).
Scrantom was a genial host. He invited my wife and me to dinner in Charleston in August or early September 2001 and, on a later solo visit, I visited his home on Sullivan’s Island, by Charleston, where he lived with his then wife (I believe they divorced later) and young daughter.
Scrantom, though a graduate from American law schools, an attorney in several states, and a professor of law as well, was also a barrister of Gray’s Inn in London. I was a barrister of Lincoln’s Inn, though many years later (2016) wrongfully and unlawfully disbarred at the instigation of a pack of malicious and politically-motivated Jew-Zionists.
Scrantom, incidentally, was a modest fellow, very much a “Southern gentleman”, born in Georgia and from a wealthy background. I liked him. I never knew (until yesterday) about some of his earlier adventures, such as sailing around the Bahamas on his yacht, exploring the Himalayas, or visiting edgy places in Cambodia and elsewhere in South-East Asia, though he did tell me that he knew several of the people portrayed in the famous book and film Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midnight_in_the_Garden_of_Good_and_Evil_(film)], the events of which occurred in Savannah, Georgia, where Scrantom’s family members were largely based.
In September 2001, I was with Scrantom in a taxi in the Strand, London, when his wife called to say that New York was under attack. We interrupted our journey (to the Berkeley Square area of Mayfair) to get out at a Dixons store to look at the TV screens.

I do not much like the concept (and Jew-Zionists in England use “litigation insurance” to pursue pro-Israel “lawfare”), so maybe it is just as well that our professional connection was mainly severed in 2002, when I decided to return to the ordinary practising Bar in England. I then moved to a large country house in Cornwall, and was based professionally at Exeter.
As already mentioned, I liked Tim (though not his then wife, to be frank; I only met her once), though I should say that he and his two main colleagues had no idea at all about how to run a law firm.
Life is short, something few if any really understand when in their twenties or thirties. We all have to try to accomplish something, not in a careerist sense, but for the future of the Earth, while in any particular incarnation.

When I was in Rhodesia in 1977, the roads outside the capital, Salisbury (now Harare) were empty, but that was not because of sanctions (fuel rationing only lasted 1965-1971). If I were to live in London today, I should probably have my Rolex watches stolen. In fact, I no longer have them anyway (sold many years ago for reasons of financial pressure, i.e. I needed the money!).

But at the time they were due to arrive, they rang to say they couldn’t come because they couldn’t find an available police car.
Really? The station is barely a half-hour walk away. Disappointed, I had to make do with discussing it over the phone with the officer instead. Such muggings were, he said, ‘rife’ in the capital at the moment.
He asked if I wanted to take it any further and, honestly, I didn’t. The pointlessness of reporting a crime so long after the event is infuriating – it’s a tick-box exercise, nothing more.
The chances of the police catching a gang with my vague description of their clothes and ethnicity must be almost nil.
Ultimately, pursuing a report would mean me enduring a bureaucratic hurdle – filling in more forms online, having more phone calls. And for what?
All of this could have been avoided if there were more police on our streets, which would serve as a deterrent to these thugs. It’s futile having a police force at all in London if they can’t adequately react to something like this.

Hotels much the same. I was due to speak back in 1978 at the Clarendon Court Hotel, Little Venice. What are swifts and why are they in trouble?
The swift (Apus apus) is an acrobatic aerial bird, a remarkable sprinter and endurance flyer that rarely touches the ground. When these sickle-winged birds do come down – after several years in perpetual flight, even sleeping midair – it is to nest in the eaves of roofs across Europe after spending winters in sub-Saharan Africa, migrating 7,000 miles (11,000km) every year. They are celebrated by nature lovers, artists and poets as they race through city skies on long summer evenings, filling the air with their screaming calls.
The fastest bird in level flight (top speed: 69mph/111kph), they feed on airborne insects. Swifts are in trouble because of steep declines in insects, but also because they are losing traditional nesting sites. Swifts once nested in caves and hollow trees but moved into buildings hundreds of years ago. Modern insulation, particularly in roofs, removes the crevices and cavities where they have nested for centuries.
What are the prospects for swifts?
Grim. Swift populations in Britain slumped by 66% between 1995 and 2022 and have continued a rapid downward trend. Since the last count of 59,000 breeding pairs, the population this summer is set to be just 40,000 pairs. In five years’ time there could be fewer than 25,000, unless action is taken.
A swift brick is a hollow brick that slots into the brickwork of new or old homes, providing a cavity where swifts can nest. The bricks have also been found to help other cavity-nesting birds, including the rapidly declining red-listed house martin, house sparrow and starling. Other species including blue tits, great tits, nuthatches and wrens will also nest in the bricks.
Swift bricks are made by brick manufacturers large and small, and typically cost about £35. There is a British standard for them and some developers are already fitting them to new homes.

Russia could, in theory, tell the United States that, should the US bomb Iran, Russia will bomb or rocket Israel. That would stalemate the situation, and stop the Americans from attacking Iran. It might also trigger WW3, though, and make “Armageddon” reality, both in Israel/Palestine and elsewhere.
However, Putin will not want to get Russia directly involved.
So far, Russia is winning all ways: the oil price is rocketing, gold is rocketing too, and Russia is one of the largest producer-states of both.
Also, Trump has apparently signalled to Zelensky and the Kiev regime that American military aid hitherto given to Kiev will be cut back, and priority given to the Middle East. That, as Russian forces press forward on all relevant sectors of the overall front.

Amusing to see rubbish newspapers in the UK, such as the Daily Mirror, talking about what occupations might be exempt from conscription if WW3 were to start! In the nuclear age, when immensely powerful missiles can reach UK targets in minutes (I am told, maybe 8 minutes) from launch sites thousands of miles away…
I wonder how many people actually read and believe all this 1940-cosplay?
The fact remains that, in any continental-level war, with Russia on one side, and NATO states on the other, the UK would quite soon be a charred and irradiated giant bombsite.
